From this time, would everybody please stand for the prayer and then remain standing for the pledge of allegiance? >> Heavenly Father, as we come to you tonight, would you please watch over this board? Would you please watch over these schools as we take into account tonight that our new director, may you guide her in the direction that our previous director had done, coach, and to doing as such a good job as he has done. Heavenly Father, I hope we have done everything in our power today to spread your word to bring people into our covenant. And may we you may you use us in anything that you can to better all this and make the world a better place. In your name we pray. Amen. >> Amen. >> I pledge allegiance >> to the flag
of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you everybody. Please be seated. >> Can't think of a better way to start someone's career than being prayed for. It's good job. I would have forgotten that. That's why I'm glad. Well, that's what you get when you know. Great job. Uh, is there anyone in the audience that would like to address the board about any item? Unless you're already on the agenda. >> Mike, are you the >> He's Chris. >> You're the Rotary. That's what I thought. >> He's Chris Gri. >> Okay. >> That's what our B, right? >> It does. It does. Uh, next is the approval of the agenda for tonight. Does any board member have
any other thing to add to tonight's agenda? If not, I would accept a motion to approve tonight's agenda. >> I make a motion to approve tonight's agenda. >> And I second, Miss >> Motion by Miss Bod, seconded by Mr. Atwood to approve our agenda for tonight. Any discussion? All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Any oppose, please say no. We have our agenda set for tonight. Please take a moment to look over the consent agenda. We did go over each of these items in our work session on Tuesday, but if there's anyone that would like to discuss anything further, please let me know. The and we will move that item to new business for further discussion. Hearing none, do I have a motion to approve tonight's consent agenda? Motion by Miss Petty to
approve tonight's consent agenda. Second by Mr. >> by Chris. Uh any discussion? All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Any oppose, please say no. Does pass unanimously. Coach, do we have any school district highlights? >> We do not except everybody is really excited about the upcoming fall. from staff to students to the director of schools from top to bottom we are all and you I think you heard Mr. recall maybe it was he talk that we haven't had a lot of breaks you know I haven't had a lot of power Fridays I mean this it's been about 50 something days it's been continuous and u our our people are ready for a break >> I would have to worry about someone that's not excited >> right >> about Paul >> I think it's
interesting to hear that when we think about upcoming calendars you know we research says kids do best in class when they're not exhausted. And so having those power Fridays and those, you know, those things are good for our teachers, but it's also good for our kids. You know, a lot of parents take, you know, an early weekend, a half a day on Friday, and and you know, go off and do things with their kids and, you know, we've had no built-in PD days or whatever. And it just I think it's just very telling. It's like, you know, in February when we're all sick of each other, I just think it's important to think about that. But everybody is ready for everybody and and everybody's hung in well. Let me say that. >> You know, I
think this was obvious when uh the teachers voted on the calendar last year and they had, you know, we've heard so much in the past about why don't we always start in July and all that. So, we gave them a a July start date and a August start date, you know, later like they've been hear about. What' they vote for? The July start date because they wanted a break every month. And I don't blame them. Y >> they've gotten used to that, I guess, and that's what they wanted. And I think we're very fortunate that we're not in the same boat as like Wilson County having to consider next year uh starting their staggering the opening times of their schools, elementary, middle, and high school because they don't have enough bus drivers. We're very fortunate,
you know, that we don't have to do that. Of course, we don't have any principal reports tonight. They are uh and having parent teacher conference and I'm sure they're all uh busy as can be. But we are blessed to have Miss Zobe with us tonight. Podium is yours. >> All right. So, Mr. McCall's not here, but I've got a lengthy report for everybody. To start off, we took our senior ACT retake on October 8th. It all went well. We had 40 seniors participate and then I think that the scores came back today. Um the retake went well, but we were very much ready for fall break. And then homecoming was great. It went great. It took place on the football field during halftime and then senior night took place before that game all in the
same game. And then really exciting news, the teaching as a profession pathway. six students completed their Tennessee allcore tutoring certification and that's in alignment with the literacy standards for TAPS and then I think I mean the certification will be really helpful both in school and out of school and then they were all seniors except for one junior who got certified so that'll be helpful after graduation as well and then the special education class is planning their annual trip to the bowling alley this November and then on to clubs FF FA placed 13th place regional and then first place district in their nursery and landscaping competition. And then the plow passing literacy onward program was kicked off on October 15th where FFA students went to the elementary school and read books and did a craft with
the second grade. And then lastly, FFA is beginning Operation Christmas Child, which they're partnering with FDLA to do. So, that'll be coming up soon. As for FBLA, they helped out in the pancake breakfast on October 11th with the Rotary Club. And FBLA students and Interact Club students both helped out on that. And then FBLA is planning for the Titans Learning Lab coming up on November 11th. And then, of course, they're partnering with FFA for Operation Christmas Child. The volleyball season ended. We've got Jasmine Dunn and Miley Pots on all district. And then all tournament, we've got Callie Griffin and Maggie Limble. And then band is beginning their recruitment for Wintergard and they're planning for their state competition on November 1st. And then they competed at the Northern Plateau Marching Invitational where percussion placed first place.
And that's it. >> I do have a quick What was the first thing you you mentioned? >> ACT retake. >> No, that was after that >> homecoming. What was next? >> The >> Yeah, teaching as a profession. >> Not the all core tune. >> No. Um >> special education class. >> No, just not having a good night. >> Okay. >> I do have a question. >> Nothing nothing bad. >> Okay. >> Have you found us a food critic yet? >> No. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> We were serious. We really enjoyed the young man. I mean, you know, >> it's nice to know whether the food's good. >> It was our board representatives boyfriend came to all the meetings and he'd give us a report about lunch. >> Now, we're not pressuring you to get a
boyfriend. >> No, we're not just like to fulfill that job. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> It was really It was really good, wasn't it? >> Yeah. >> Anytime we can hear from students, I think it's really good. about >> find you guys a food critic. >> Thank you, Zoe. >> Thank you all. And you look beautiful. >> Have a really good fall. >> Yeah. >> Next is uh Dr. Santa. uh employment I mean uh excuse me student uh enrollment is uh as of today uh we have 1358 students that is 13 less students we than we had on the same day last year that's 20 less students at the elementary 11 more at the middle school and four less at the high school so when that's about what I reported to you last month. So, it
seems we're having a steady trend that's holding quite steady. Academic programming as of today, we've completed 55 days of school. That's 60% of the first semester. Uh we have been making preparations for weeks for our parent teacher conference. We hope and we'll take any feedback, you know, about our communications with parents. I think we sent out a text reminder every day this week reminding parents. Uh we really spent a lot of time being sure that those families get their TCAP. We intentionally hold their TCAP reports from last spring to this time where we can have conversations with those parents about where they are on the p proficiency continuum, just not what their grades are at this time. So that we think that does really well for parents. Uh I heard Miss Penny talk about she
had her first parent teacher conference at the middle school today and how she said with the panel of teachers with the English teacher, the math teacher, social studies teacher and a science teacher all in there in one. They've been doing that for the last couple of years and it's good to hear that that's well received as well. Um, of course we talked about today everybody's excited about fall break and u and students don't return until Monday, October the 27th. So that's a good u a good week and a date. Uh, professional development day is we don't we talked about we didn't have a lot of days built into our calendar and it just worked that way. But when we come back it'll be a 4 day week and on Friday it'll be a professional development
day. So students will be out on that day. >> Is that how late? >> It is. It is. And let me say something else too. And it's been a struggle with TWAA getting officials and they want you to play some so many games on Thursday night. Uh Mr. McCall work really hard with the officials association and Canon County to try to get that game that precedes the 31st on Thursday the 30th to be a Thursday night game so that our we wouldn't out playing football and then we had to try to get back to school on Friday morning. So, I thought that was very strategic on uh on his part. Uh, middle school basketball, if you'll check their calendar, they've got a bunch of home games in November, December, and their season begins at home
on October the 27th versus Watertown. And uh, you look at their schedule, but they got a lot of home games, and I also we'll try to put that in your newsletter as well. And then also, we talk about being a little exhausted, looking forward to fall break. when we come back, we only have four weeks and we get a week for Thanksgiving break. So, uh I'm sure that'll help keep everybody fresh. I hope so. Uh when we get back, Miss Coffin, we're going to have to do some work and plan for the state board of education is going to be visiting our school district, preferably our high school on November the 4th. And I think they're going to spend a majority of the day there. They want to interview teachers. They want to interview some
parents. They want to interview some students and want to get a good 360 about what's going on. >> Is that something we were selected for? >> Yes. Yeah. They wanted to >> they wanted to go they want to come see a good scope. Mr. Kirk, >> I understand. >> Um our strategic compensation payments. You had already uh passed those in the consent agenda. Uh Angie's been working very hard on those. And uh the uh the schedule is that when we come back, we will give the teachers their uh strategic compensation payments. Let them double check that. If they've got any questions or grievances or anything, they'll have a week to work with Angie and being sure we we've clarified that. And then we're going to send payments out on Friday, November the 21st. and that
will meet that deadline that we've always been able to meet is we get those payments out before Black Friday. And I think that's very well received uh in our in our district. So important dates, no school, Friday, October the 31st. Thanksgiving break, November the 24th and the 28th. And our last day of the semester is coming up on November the 18th. Project updates. >> November the 18th. >> No, no, I meant uh December the 18th. Thank you. Um our project updates you will uh the middle school chiller installation uh bid is before you. We've worked with the uh the company and they've got they've cleared that up that question and that's before you and we'll talk about that shortly. The athletic complex is moving along better. Uh, I believe the brick and stone work is
completed or very near completion. The windows and door frames are completed. They just need the rollup doors and they'll have all that in. They'll be able to close everything up. They're still working on electrical conduit makes back duct work. The parking lot is taking shape a little bit. Uh they have surveyed the islands and the entrances and they're working on the dumpster pad and the sidewalk now. And the roof I keep talking about the roof. I mean it's I mean like it's been like eight weeks. I keep talking about the roof. >> It used to be weekly and now you >> Yeah. And they don't even they ain't even put the roof on. So finally I'm asking like when are we going to get a roof? And they said, 'Well, what we're waiting on is
the vent types, you know, that have to go through the roof. We've got to know exactly where they are because we can't cut that in a seam. >> So, the metal's there cuz it is a metal roof. >> It's a metal roof. >> So, they the is that on site and they're just waiting. >> The metal is not on site. But what he's saying is until we know where those vent pipes are, we don't want to put the roof in. >> I understand it. I just wondered if the material was actually on site. It's not on site, but I don't know where it is, but it's not on site. >> Will it be a standing seam? I I can't remember. >> Yes, like we put or similar, you know. Uh but we've had a lot
of success with the uh with the metal roof. Uh monthly maintenance report. I think I left that with you on uh on Tuesday and it's also in your eboard agenda. But the high school, they've been working on the uh lights under the awning, getting those fixed uh work. They're going to paint the speed bumps tomorrow, you know, cuz they're black and they mix in so people can see them. >> Like I think somebody tripped on one day >> giggling between us. We've all probably experienced >> I didn't trip on one, but I probably almost definitely drove. going to paint those tomorrow. Um, >> what color? >> Safety yellow. >> See, I can see that. >> There you go. >> Black would be an issue just because it's dark with the pavement. >> It is the
safety yellow. >> And then the middle school, the chiller, we're we're going to have to keep the chiller a little longer. Uh we ran an experiment last Friday and even though it's 58 55 degrees in the morning, it heats up to the mid70s during the day and when you put students in that classroom, it it pops there at 79 or 80 all across the building. So we didn't have much choice. Uh I work with Sunb Belt. I don't know if he's lying to me or not. He said, "Dr. Exactly. Since y'all been a good customer, I'm going to give you two free weeks and uh we'll see how that comes in on the on >> He charges you just deduct two weeks. >> Exact. But uh we're going to >> We took him at his
word. >> We're going to have to do that a little longer. Um the elementary school, there were some gym doors that wasn't latching and they've been fixed and repaired. And then last is bus 12 had a single vehicle accident about a week ago where it ran into the bank at Cheese's house and u they said that uh hit that door and the estimate is $20,000 to fix that door. But the bus still has five years of life on it. and we went round and around about what was going to be paid for and stuff, but eventually the insurance company come around and all we have to do is pay our $500 deduct. So things are looking better and we'll still have five years of life expectancy. All right. So Mr. Kerr, that is all I
have. Somebody has questions. >> You may have any questions for Dr. >> The letters for the elementary, are they ordered? >> Excuse me. the letters on the elementary >> they've they've been ordered and uh they say it takes about >> I think he said 8 to 10 weeks to make but they're they're the same letters that's on the uh sign at the high school those aluminum letters they're 12 inch letters and actually the lady was real nice when I finally found the company in Franklin that makes them and she said Dr. officer. I know exactly what you need. We still got your order from when you built the high school. So, we know exactly what you want. So, she's there. >> That's not a shame. >> Thank you. >> No, no, no. It's a It's
a company in Franklin. Okay. >> That makes them supposed to get the exact same letter that we got at the high school. >> Miss uh Miss Catherine may have to put them up, but they're on they're on. >> We're hoping she'll hire someone. I don't want to go on. >> Well, at least we got a lip. So, at least >> they're taking them down with it. >> And I actually remember what I It wasn't about Zoe. It was I wanted to uh just make an announcement. Uh I want to do it again next month because we've only got really, you know, a couple of months till Christmas break. And for anyone listening and and uh I announced this on the uh cheese show uh Wednesday, yesterday uh on December the 11th from 5 to 7,
Trader County Board of Education is sponsoring a career uh how would you say it? A uh career thank you reception for Dr. Satderfield uh honoring his career. Clint is you have 40 or 41 years. >> 42. Wow. A short change. So, uh, this reception will be held at the high school auditorium on December the 11th from 5 until 7. And uh we just want the public to know about it so that they can come and and uh honor Clint for all of his uh service to the school system, the football teams, the everything that he's been involved with. We want uh we want people to be able to come by. maybe some old players would like to come by and and stuff like that, you know, and I'm sure it'll be a very emotional evening
for for coach and uh but he he certainly deserves it as we talked about and everybody's in agreement with that'll be December the 11th 5 to 7 the Ellaner Ford Auditorium at Traso County High School. Did I get that right? Okay. >> Thank Thank you, Mr. Curt. And don't let it be said, people can't keep a secret. >> They've done really good around here. >> We would we start working on that in May >> or June. >> It's June. >> So, is it a come and go? >> Okay. >> Yeah. We're coming state, but I mean, yeah, basically it's that type of thing where you >> got seven month. >> Well, okay. >> Yeah. you know, how that go. All right. Oh, anybody have any questions for Dr. >> Mr. Curry? May I They've asked
me to be on the uh uh the cheese show, the Creek Bank chat at 6 >> tonight. Tonight. Yeah. So if I have to step out >> stay a while but I know but if I step out and you'll help her >> okay yeah that's that's good. All right next we have no old business. So uh under new business first item under new business is the new I'm sorry the new director of schools employment contract. We discussed this at length. I guess you would say we negotiated this at length on during the work session on Tuesday night and we came to an agreement. Uh that agreed to contract was then sent to our attorney uh in Memphis to look at and put in legal form for for us. And did you have time to let
your lawyer look back to it? Come on. >> Yes. I uh talked to her today and she's through with it as well and I highlighted the minor changes that Deborah suggested on yours if there's any questions but it was just >> okay. So I guess the uh number one question is then Jennifer are you okay with this contract you will accept this contract? >> Yes sir. So guys, we have a uh new director of schools that we voted on that's willing to accept the contract that we have offered. Uh is there any board member that has any questions or concerns about the contract? Has Deborah sent it back to us? >> I just Is Deborah questioning the nepotism changes that we made? Is that >> the only word policy >> policy word? It was it
still had the word policy in so I took that. >> See what I did was what and that's my fault because I did a lot of copy and pasting and with the with the nepatism thing I just copied it out of board policy and then went over there and pasted it. So >> is this one the one we >> That's exactly >> exactly the same >> way it is in policy. >> I just neglected to take out the word policy. >> Other questions? Okay. Hearing none, do I have a motion to approve an employment contract between the TRA County Board of Education and Miss Jennifer Coffer? >> I'll make a motion. >> Have a motion by Miss Penny. Do I have a second? >> I'll second that motion. >> Second by Miss Bod. Discussion. Any
other questions, discussion, or anything about it? >> Excuse me. Who made that motion? Rachel. >> Rachel. >> Okay. >> And Deanna second. >> Okay. I got you. >> And just for speaking for the board, I want to thank everyone for getting this together really from Tuesday night to to today and you've been able to get it to your attorney and Deborah being able to get it back to us. We appreciate the quick turnaround because we did want to finalize this and and get it official. Right. No questions, discussion. All in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed, please say no. >> No. >> It does pass four to one. Okay. >> Did you get that clear? >> Yes, sir. >> Next is the middle school chiller installation bid. We discussed this at length
on uh Tuesday night and the there was a question brought up because there was an open-ended item under where they were explaining what they would do. There were three bullets where they were explaining what they were providing. The last one did not contain a a price. the uh 25 by 25 concrete pad 6 inch deep 4 in rebar on 12 inch centers. >> That's not the one, is it? >> They they removed it. >> They removed it. They added >> the amount. >> Oh, they added it right there. They did. >> Okay. >> That left it as part of work instead of leaving it. >> Is that the way to do that? >> Is that a proper amount? >> Okay. >> It's all legit. >> Okay. Okay. Well, you're you're my expert. It does. All
right. So, does it does uh Clint, do you want to say anything about the contract or >> uh No, just that that he it was originally the piping connections, the second bullet was originally at $ 38,90. And then with asking him to tell us exactly what's it going to cost to unload whatever he added uh 34.95 which he made that 42485 plus the 7500 it has not changed. So the total of that project now would be $49,985. And remember that we qualify for the TVA energy right reimbursement which is worth we think about 32,000. So hopefully this project would be just right at $18,000. >> You know considering the way all this went down beginning last spring with, you know, the heat and everything and then being able to get I didn't know people lease
that big of equipment like that and all that. But it's really come together good, I think. And uh it's made this year bearable at the middle school for sure. >> They said they're cooler than they have ever been in recent memory. >> I have been told that by at least three or four teachers there. They they've appreciated it. >> Dr. Sfield, you have a recommendation. My recommendation is to accept this where we can get this going because the chiller is supposed to be delivered in mid January and we would like for uh the installer to be ready to go. Hopefully have that concrete pad poured, you know, before that arrives. That would be good. All right, guys. We have a uh bid before us with a recommendation from the director of schools to accept u
this bid. Discussion, questions, motions I make a move for. >> Okay. Have a motion by Mr. Atwood to accept Bransford Electrical and Mechanical Services to uh to install the new train chiller that's coming to the middle school. >> Second by Mr. Wood. >> Any other discussion? All in favor, please say I. I. >> Any oppose, please say no. does pass unanimously. And Mr. Pototts, I believe you're this year's president of the Rotary. I am let him stand there. Here, >> please go to the church. >> This came up last Sunday when Dwight Juel asked me at church would could I put Rotary put him he said actually and Rotary on the agenda. >> Yeah. >> And wanted to come in and talk about things that Rotary is doing with the schools and Right. And uh
so we're glad to have uh the president. >> Appreciate that. Thank y'all for having me. Uh Chris throwed this on me today, which is fine. We talked about a couple weeks ago at the meeting and so they asked today if I could and I said, "Yeah, I'll make about there's no problem." And my biggest thing today, I won't I won't wear your time at all. We're just here to say thank you. Uh we've had a good partnership for however many years now. I've only been for five, but I know we've done a lot with that. Uh just a few of the things that that we do particular with the school, the dictionary program that we do each year. Third graders, we go pass out dictionaries with the third graders. Uh the bike giveaway, we do
a character counts. We've been a part of that each year donating the bike. Um food drive. Food drive is big every year. Uh each school, elementary, middle, and high school, all three join in on that. This year, we've talked to all the principles so far. We're trying to revamp the food drive a little bit this year. Make it more beneficial to the food pantry. You guys know Chrissy Stafford here in town. She does an excellent job with the pantry. She called me last this past year and had a little issue with some of the things that were coming in. You can imagine when we do food drive with kids, first thing you do is go to the pantry, they're grabbing out stuff from the pantry. Well, if it's like my pantry, there's stuff in there
from 10 years ago. We probably moved from our old house. So, we're trying to revamp some of that. uh maybe make it more of an incentive to do a money drive kind of that way the food pantry can you know they're buying stuff at wholesale so they have dollars in our hand they buy stuff so some cheaper than we can going to the store again so hopefully we revamp that a little bit uh >> that might cut down on the cheating between the principles >> could be that too you know we hey that's really ramped back up you know I can remember years ago when I was here coach Casy was here we we would get against each other and with each other we get kids that bring money and and we'd load a pickup
truck from same same way or wherever we get the best deal and and we beat everybody. So that was a big deal and fun to do and that gives a little camaraderie, a little bit of sportsmanship there, too. Uh Christmas for kids, Chris Gregory is one of the big pushers with that. Him and Jamie ODM are big big part of the Christmas for kids. Of course you guys know small town, small community. We need all that we can get. So we're trying to continue that, continue that growth there. Uh I believe they've opened up uh actually opened up started taking uh information now for that kind of stuff to give to those kids at Christmas. So big big part. One of the things I guess today that that I'm going to ask and with Miss
Jennifer being here today uh that we love to see of course me being the president of Rotary is our interact club. The last two years we've been able to to talk with Mr. Schmidow which is the English teacher there at the high school. He partners kind of with FBLA. the the Interact and the FBLA kind of go hand in hand. They're both kind of businessminded, I guess you would say. So, we're able to kind of partner together with them in the high school level, but the Interact Club is the extension of Rotary in high school. And so, we're trying to get a get a good group of kids in there uh and develop them and get them some of the same ideas and like mind as we have to give back. You know, we all
we're it's a me society. You deal with that every day. If you're in any kind of business, of course, it's what can you do for me? And uh through the Rotary and through Interact, hopefully we can get some of these kids and understand that it's a service. You know, we need uh we need young folks involved in this kind of thing. And uh with Hartsville being small, Rotary is really the only civic group left. We Lions Club has fell away. You know, some of the other groups that were here for years has kind of faded out. And it's hard to get those young people uh to understand it. When I say young people, I'm 48 myself. I'm talking about people my age and even in that range. Uh when I talk to guys and everybody's
busy. We know that. We know the school is busy. We know I mean I taught for 20 years. I know what it's like to have to get all your lessons together, get your your assignments done, get all the kids on page, but uh give them something outside of that. I know it's extracurricular, but help them get something hopefully that'll be a we get this Zoe. She's one she's a great example. probably one of the well most well spoken kids I've ever been around. Very knowledgeable, but we can get her involved as she already is in FLA and she's also an interact member. Now we can have her kind of show some of these other kids what it can do, especially if we can get some conferences and things like that. I have no doubt we
take this kid right here to Gatlinburg for our convention in March and I have no doubt we're really competing and and winning. So, it's just one of those things and I've seen them from the highest of high levels at national conventions with FFA. So, uh, I think she's definitely got that potential and others as well. So, like I say, that's some of the things that I hope to see and hope we can continue partnering with. Uh, you know, we're not we're not wanting to, you know, overtake it by no means, but uh, you know, we've got a group of men and women with a rotor about 40 members and and we I've actually talked to the FBLA about coming and speaking to class some, you know, we've got pharmacists, we've got doctors, we've got lawyers,
got all different types of people. We've got layman from contractors, the whole gamut we run. And so to get in front of a group of kids and speak on some of those experiences I always thought was a good thing. So like I say, that's just something I want to say tonight. Thank you again for allowing us to be in part of the school system. Uh we only look forward to having a bigger and better part of the school system. So it's just something that we look forward to going forward. And thank you again. But we want to thank Rotary and you for being president this year, but Rotary has been a a very active participant in Trito County. Everything that's done in Trito County for for decades. >> Decades. Let's not just say years, decades.
>> Yeah. I believe Cheese and I don't hold me to this. If he's he's watching or he's on radio, I know, but believe 1980, I believe Cheese and uh >> Sam Holder was pretty much the initial guys that got it rolling and and brought it along. And hey, you know, it it's a civic group and and my favorite part is we focus on Tra County. Rotary is international. You know, it its biggest thing is eradicating polio, but for Trousell County when I joined 5 years ago, was elected to my office and joined then my whole goal when I told I said I'll help you do anything in the world to help hearts. Now, I'm going to help you with the other stuff fine, but I my my biggest focus is here. And so the downtown
sound and a lot of those other things, the the fatherdaughter dance that we do, you know, that's one of the best events I think we do all year long is you get those kids that that get to go to a little dance and dress up to the hilt and have a father figure of whoever it may be. Take them there and have a night out to have a big time. It's a pretty cool little event. So like I say, some of those things maybe wouldn't happen without. But uh like I say, it's just a it's a blessing to the community and and only we hope to have more and more. One of the things we discussed in our interviews with our applicants for director was hopefully trying to add more different types of clubs and
activities to all of our schools. Absolutely. >> And uh Rotary is a great example of that. Hopefully people will see the participation and interact. >> The key to it is finding a sponsor as you well know >> and so hopefully some of our employee doesn't have to be a teacher. It could be a a volunteer or something like that would like to get involved with whatever type of >> activity, right? And and that type of thing. >> So far, Mr. SM been great. >> Interact and FBLA both. >> Mr. Smidow is more or less Interact. Okay. But he has he has partnered up with the FBLA. >> Okay. >> So, what we kind of did and I and I don't know exactly the structure they did. That's the thing about it. We're all just kind
of learning. I remember going to interact convention in Gatlinburg years ago when Joshua when Josh was here teaching I went with them that's the only time I really had any interaction with it so uh we're learning on the fly I think they did and Zoe may speak to this they did select some officers just recently >> for interact officers for interact and FBA. >> Yep. >> Okay. So y'all are able to have different meetings too. >> Okay. >> So it's kind of a you know it's it's a work in progress. Like I say, the convention is March 2nd through the 4th, you know, and I try to give Mr. Fiddle these dates early because I I know the school deal. I know you've got to get on the the schedule and calendar early to be
able to get to some of that stuff. And this weekend we did the pancake breakfast. Rotary sponsored the pancake breakfast and paid all the supplies and all the stuff. And then we probably had 15 I'd say we had at least 15 interact kids there that day serving the pancakes and doing their part. And so with that, we're going to donate. there's a $1,50 donation coming to them right now because we know without money they can't do anything. So we've already helped them do that and we look forward to doing more of that stuff and so you know if it's something that's going to help us we're going to help them and so that's that's a big part of what we do. >> I can't think of her name Rachel but she's been here a couple
I think who are the two aren't there two ladies that's in charge of that BLA? >> Yes, Miss Galloway and Miss Huff >> right and Mr. Smidow is kind of like a a helper I guess volunteer helper that type of thing. Excellent job. Excellent. Right. Oh, I know. I know. >> We helped them last year a little bit with their trip to to out west. I mean, to California. So, it's a you know, and I and that's a plus for for Roger, I think. And like I say, if it's for hearts, we're going to try our best to work with. We can't fund everything. We know that. But, man, if it's something kids, it's a we're really big on that. You know, if it's if we have a kids group that comes to us, we're
going to we're going to do our best to figure out a way to make it right. So, >> and I know that uh I think it's probably still a part of the uh um the money the uh what's the state program that kids can make the the lottery money to go to college? >> Hope scholarship. >> Yeah. In volunteering still is still a segment of that. So where you know working they can volunteer maybe get some volunteer time and stuff in with things that rotary sponsors and and that type of thing. >> Absolutely. works kind of goes hand in hand. >> It's all online. >> Yeah. >> Oh, is it online? >> All right. >> Thank you, sir. Appreciate you coming. >> I'm out of that right now. >> All right, guys. There's nothing else
on our agenda. Unless somebody has something to bring up. Do I have a motion to >> make a motion to adjurnn? >> For some reason, you always make that. >> I'm good at that. You're good at that. >> I love y'all deep in my heart, but I want to go home. you the David Ner of the school. >> He's been making a motion to journ I think from the county court and any committee don't >> I'll take it >> 20 years. So yeah, I didn't mean that. >> No, I know. >> All right, guys. We are that. >> Huh? I'll do it. >> Do we actually do we actually have to second that one? >> I don't think so. >> Y'all go. I got I still got some >> You got paperwork. >> It's good
because look what she did today. >> Oh yeah. Can you not see >> lights? >> Did you know that? >> I'm blinder than that. She did it just so you can fix the color. Okay.
