Welcome to the how to change score codes for the Texas Assessment Program training video. We will look at scorecode information for each assessment in the Texas Assessment Program and review how to change score codes manually, view score code change requests, and use the bulk upload feature. First, we will review score code options for each assessment in the Texas assessment program. Score code options for star are as follows. S for score. This is the default score code. S only needs to be manually entered if a student refuses to participate in the assessment. A for absent. This score code should be used if the student was absent throughout the entire testing window. A should not be used if the student was absent on the scheduled testing day but will test on a makeup day. O for other.

The most common uses of this score code include a student who was unable to finish the test due to illness, a test that was invalidated due to a testing irregularity, a retester who did not participate in the December or spring administration, a student who is participating in an HSP, or a student who is observed cheating. District testing personnel are required to indicate in the test information distribution engine tied a reason such as a student becoming ill for marking a students test with a score code of O for other or A for absent. Refer to the coordinator resources for more information and circumstances to determine appropriate score codes. Score code options for star alternate 2 are as follows. S for score. This is the default score code for students whose responses were entered in the response

entry system RE. This score code should be used only for a student who refuses to start his or her assessment. A for absent. This score code should be used if the student was absent throughout the entire testing window. M for medical exception. This score code should be used if the student is unable to participate meaningfully in the STAR alternate 2 assessment based on the students medical condition as determined by the admission review and dismissal ARD committee and documented in the students individualized education program IEP and for no authentic academic response NAR. This score code should be used if the student is unable to participate meaningfully in the STAR alternate 2 assessment because of the students disability which results in the inability to make an authentic academic response to stimuli presented in the test booklet as

determined by the ARD committee and documented in the students IEP. O for other. This score code should be used if the student was unable to finish the test due to illness or the test was invalidated due to a testing irregularity. For medical exception or NAR score codes, an ARD committee will need to determine if the student meets the eligibility requirements and make the determination before administering the assessment. District testing personnel are required to indicate in tide a reason for marking a student's test with a score code of O for other, A for absent, M for medical exception, or N for no authentic academic response. Refer to the coordinator resources for more information and circumstances to determine appropriate score codes. Score code options for TelPass online and paper assessments are as follows. 007This score code should only be used for a student who refuses to start his or her assessment. M for medical exception. This score code should be used if the student is unable to participate meaningfully in the assessment based on the students medical condition as determined by the ARD committee and documented in the students IEP. N for no authentic academic response. This score code should be used if the student is unable to participate meaningfully in the assessment because of the students disability which results in the inability to make an authentic academic response to stimuli presented in the test booklet as determined by the ARD committee and documented in the students IEP. E for extenduating circumstances. This score code should be used if the student cannot be rated in all four domains or all 40 observable behaviors.

For medical exception or NAR score codes, an ARD committee will need to determine if the student meets the eligibility requirements and make the determination before administering the assessment. As a reminder, district testing personnel are required to indicate in TIDE a reason for marking a student's test with a score code of M for medical exception, N for no authentic academic response, or E for extenduating circumstances. Refer to the coordinator resources for more information and circumstances to determine appropriate score codes for students who are unable to participate. Let's discuss how designated testing personnel can change score codes for a student. The change score code task allows users to change a score code to an updated score code after the administration reports for data verification have been posted. Please refer to the calendar of events for the specific

dates for data verification windows during which a score code can be changed. Changes made during the data verification window will be included in the final administration reports for accountability. Districts may request changes within a year of the start of the administration, but these changes will not be reflected in the consolidated accountability file CAF. Specific information about score codes is available on the enter student information in tide page of the complete administration section of the district and campus coordinator resources. From the Tide homepage, locate the green appeals/scorecodes card. Click the more actions button to expand your view. The tasks available on the appeals/scorecodes card are create requests, view requests, upload requests, and holistic rating upload. We will first review the create requests page to change an existing score code for a sample student. Remember that this

process should take place after the administration reports for data verification are posted during the data verification window as noted on the calendar of events. From the create requests page, select the change score code option listed under request type. You can search students by results ID, session ID, and TSDS ID. We'll use the TSDS ID option in this example. Enter the students TSDS ID. You do not have to select test mode. But if you already know which test you need to make a score code correction for, you can select the mode of testing. The test type button is automatically selected as Texas provided tests. You can make a selection for test window if you choose, but you do not have to do so. Click search to continue. Let's look at the first row, which has information

for the December 2025 star English 1 test. As you can see, this student's test status for this test is showing as completed. We will change this student's original score code. In the next step, first mark the checkbox for the row and click next to continue. In order to correct the score code to either absent or other, make an appropriate selection from the new score code drop- down list. In this example, we will select Other because this student never completed his or her test due to illness and the district decided not to have the test scored. Be sure to select the checkbox in the first column. Select create request to continue. Enter a reason for the score code change request and select submit. You'll receive a message indicating that the request has been created and submitted

for processing. Next, we will review the view requests option for change score code to confirm that the steps you completed previously were done correctly. Open the view requests page and select the request type and a request status. You can enter additional criteria or apply a filter. Click search to view the results. As you can see, the change score code request is showing as submitted for processing under request status. District testing coordinators should also utilize the view option on the appeals/scorecodes card to verify the administration and successful processing of TelPass holistic ratings. Next, we will review how to use the bulk upload feature. To use the bulk upload feature to change score codes in bulk, you must first download the template located on the upload requests page. You can download the CSV or the Microsoft Excel

version of the template. Let's download the Microsoft Excel template. We will show you how to set score codes for a set of TSDS IDs. Click the first cell under the request type column to expand the drop-own menu. Select change score code. Because we are using TSDS IDs, select TSDS ID in the drop- down menu for the search type. Then enter the students TSDS ID in the search value column. Next, select additional comments in the reason column and type in the reason for the change score code request in the comment column. You will select the appropriate score codes in Tide later. When you are finished entering the information, be sure to save the Microsoft Excel file. Return to the upload requests page in Tide to upload the file. Click choose file or utilize the drag and

drop feature to upload the file you created. Click next to continue. On the preview page, verify that you uploaded the correct file and the values in the columns are correct. Click next to continue. The next step is the validation page. If there are errors, correct them in the Microsoft Excel file. Then select upload revised file to replace the existing Microsoft Excel file. Click continue with upload to continue the upload process. On this page, you will see all eligible tests for which the specified students receive test results. First, locate the row that lists the student and test needing a score code change. Select an appropriate score code selection in the drop- down menu in the new score code column. Repeat the process for another test or another student to change a score code from the original

score code the student received. As a reminder, you can only change codes that were originally entered during the administration window. Certain score codes may also be necessary for special situations as determined in consultation with tea. Verify the information you entered on this page. When you are finished and are ready to submit, click commit. On the confirmation page, you will see the number of records that were successfully updated. You may choose to upload another file to change score codes for more students. You may view the status of this request by using the view requests option we discussed earlier. Educators and technology staff may contact Texas testing support at at texas testing support at cambiumassessment.com or by using the chat feature on the Texas assessment program website.
