Hi, Miss 601 602. We were going to go ahead and get started. We'll start by calling the meeting to order with roll call. >> Oscar Morunes, >> Wilbur Cruz, >> Anita Franco, >> Michaelas. >> We have a quorum. A pledge of allegiance to the flag followed by a moment of silence. Thank you. Public comment. Okay. Then we're going to go ahead and start with a student staff recognition. We'll start first with the superintendent student ambassadors recognition. [snorts] Good evening everyone. This evening uh before the board meeting, we had a beautiful reception for our ambassadors. Our student ambassadors are grades 4th through 12th grade that represent every single one of our campuses. These are students that come together every single month with the superintendent, myself, and my leadership team. Uh they have lots of guest speakers,
different sessions on leadership, but also on reflection on what's going well and what needs some attention. and a lot of their input gets taken into consideration and they can see a lot of their ideas come into action which is really inspiring to them and really inspiring to us. So at this time I'd like to recognize our ambassadors that are here. They're not all here. We have about 45 of them total but those that are here please come up and be recognized by our school board. Thank you school board for your support. if you'll join us for a picture. >> [laughter] >> I will tell you. >> [applause] >> Good evening everyone. I am coach Haley Lita and this is Coach Gonzalez and we are going to be doing track recognizing our kiddos that went to
area and regionals. I know exciting. Um short little speech guys. Um track is a very difficult sport. Uh nobody wants to be out there in 110 practicing for two hours, right? Everybody's like wow. You know, uh outdoor sport, these kids live it. They're out there. They put in the work every single day. We started in January, went all the way till the end of April with some of these kiddos. And our seniors, I'm going to I'm I'm I'm a little emotional, guys, because one of them is mine. But this group, I've I've seen y'all since y'all are in kinder, and to have y'all leave us, it's [sighs and gasps] it's bittersweet. But I'm I'm I'm not going to get emotional. I've been doing that all week long. So, here we go. We're going to do
the girls first. So, first up we have Wow, that's cool lighting right there. I like that. Uh, that was on Q, right? Uh, we have Paige Asbury. No, she's here. No, I don't see Miss Paige. Then we have Ava Bceno. Don't see Miss Ava. There she is. Ava. Yay. Next up we have Jana Davila, district area qualifier mile relay. Next up, we have Paulina Lita, district area qualifier, 800 meter run. Next up, we have Natalie Rosas, District Area Qualifier, Mile Relay. Next up, we have Kaylee Sapulvida, District Area Qualifier, Mile Relay. Okay. And last but not least, we have Ariana Rietta, district champion, 1632 meter run, area qualifier, and regional qualifier. And I'm also going to have River Rodriguez and Cadence Cervantes come up here at this time as well. So we also have a
thing with our seniors this year guys. So can I have you four step forward my seniors? So these these four were selected to the academic all state which is River Cadence AI and Paulina. So they got second team allstate academic for this year. Congratulations ladies. [applause] I'm sorry. We'll just bring the boys up here too because there's not very many. We do all together. >> And we're going into the boys. We have Julia Ciple, District Area Mile Relay, 400 meter run, 400 meter regional qualifier. Next up, we have Zavan Guerrero, district area qualifier, mile relay. Next up, we have Jaden Briones, district area qualifier, mile relay. Next up, we have Lorenzo Warez, District Area Qualifier Mile Relay. [applause] Next up, we have Enzio Deljon, district area and regional qualifier, 1600 meter run. All right. Now,
>> okay. And I'm gonna hand it over to coach so he can say a few words. >> For sure. Most definitely. We got uh one senior here that we're definitely going to miss. And I think Julius has heard this speech one too many times already. But uh this is a senior that has definitely put forth the effort, has set that milestone and that stepping stone for all the under kids that are coming right after you, Julius. We appreciate it. The good thing is we're returning ourselves a sophomore and a freshman back on that mile relay. We got couple more years with Enzio and we're looking to definitely get past that regional this time and that's what we're looking for starting out with cross country. Exceptional job from our track team and our cross country team
and this is just a continuation of what they do all year long. A lot of these young men not only in track but they also play multiple sports here for us and they'll continue to do so. Again, we're super proud of everybody that comes out and we thank you guys as parents and we want to make sure that we bless these kids from this point on and for the seniors that aren't going to return back to us. We're gonna miss you and great job. Awesome. [applause] >> [applause] >> Good evening every good evening everyone. Uh welcome uh board president uh Miss Franco, esteemed board members and superintendent uh Pearson. Tonight I am uh proud to recognize a group of outstanding individuals who um whose dedication and expertise continue to strengthen our teaching and learning practices
across Kiso Springs uh CISD and these are going to be our curriculum specialists. This recognition reflects our appreciation for their professionalism, service and unwavering commitment to the Wildcat way. At this time, I would like to formally recognize and commend our curriculum specialists for their outstanding contributions to our district. If I could have Elizabeth Gonzalez, [applause] >> Dr. Marisella Guzman [applause] Mrs. Joanne Ortiz [applause] >> and Mr. Royel Velasquez. [applause] >> [applause] >> Yes. So, uh, next up, if we can have, uh, UIL High School one act play come to come forward to the, uh, to the front. Okay. Although um Miss uh Rachel Garza who is the one act play director isn't able to be with us tonight I would like to recognize that uh our one act play at high school were area qualifiers
fifth in the Yeah. [applause] Okay. Next, if I could have the UIL junior high academic team come to come forward with their coaches and their uh coordinator, Miss Helman. >> I'm gonna ask >> I know Miss Helman wants to share something, but I want to share something. All of our students that are being recognized, families, and everybody who's even watching live, I want to share a quote that I heard this week. We had Patrick Frasier who is a 2004 validictorian for Kiza Spring who is now a very successful uh civil engineer and environmental engineer and he came to talk to our students and he said it's easy to stay home. It's so much harder to put yourself out there and do something. So, I want to just echo those sentiments because all of these students
being recognized, they put themselves out there. It's harder work to show up and put in the hours and put in the work and you all are putting in the hours and putting in the work and we could not be any prouder of you all. Congratulations. Seriously, congratulations. >> Thank you. [applause] >> Hi, good evening. Uh, my name is Katie Hullman. I am the UL coordinator for the junior high campus. Um, and out of seventh and eighth grade, we had 51 participants of the UI academic events and then also the one act play. And these kids did awesome. Um, our one act play were district champions. And then overall as a campus, we were second overall in district. So, these kids put in a ton of work and they are amazing. Thank you. Okay. >> How
are you, Mr. Granger? Congratulations students. Congratulations. Thank [applause] you. Thank you. >> Thank you. Congratulations. >> Here you go, Mr. Medina. >> Good afternoon, guys. Uh, I'm Coach Medina. Um, we're here to recognize our tennis team, uh, district and regional qualifiers. U, it was a long season. We started since the summer. These guys work really, really hard to get where we got. um put in all the hard work. Uh first off, it um also I want to add that congratulate Logan for um getting a full ride scholarship to King University. That's a first for Cariso Springs, [applause and cheering] all academic as well. So he put in the work in the tennis courts and in the classroom, guys. Also recognize um Zachary Allen as well. All academic as well. So he put in that work
as well in the classroom and in the court. So congratulations Zach. >> Overall was a remarkable season. >> Maybe there. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. Perfect. Good. No one left for me. Hello, >> I'm uh coach Richard Cardinas, coach of the golf team. I've had the pleasure of coaching Hunter for four years. I got to watch this young man grow in his game. He uh he started off average like a lot of us do, but what he did in three years was was pretty amazing to watch and I'm so proud of what he did. It's uh it's proof of what hard work does for one. Uh and I'm happy for him too because he has an opportunity to go play golf at Shriner and hoping he gets into the team and and
does well there too. Good job. >> You're welcome, sir. I miss my classmates. It's kind of like one of those like baby. [laughter] I'm so sorry. Thank you to all the students and parents that were in attendance today. >> Okay, we're going to go on to seven. Lonear governance. We have for May 2026 the board goals and progress measures. Goal number one, GPM 1.1 through 1.3 CCMR. Hello testing. Yeah. Okay, we're on. Okay. Um, so I'm going to start with our Lonear government. Um, I met with Dr. Rubakaba and we went over our data that we presented to you back in December and we've updated our numbers um to kind of really close out um, class of 2025. You put in a calendar. Okay. Um, so this just gives you the review that last time
we met, we were here in December. We're going over our goals again in May. Um, our vision and mission stays the same. We want to make sure that we provide every single child with a quality education in a safe environment. And we're also inspiring lifelong learners. Gilbert Got it. Okay. Um, so looking at our we go. I think I have it. Okay. So, this is just an overview. Again, when you when we when these goals were made, the goals were made to for a projection of the five years, so all the way to 2030. um with our overall goals starting at an 88%. 88% is what TEA has classified as CCMR as an A. Um remembering that even just two years ago an A was at 68. So that that is a big jump from
a 68 to an 88. And then our goal our ending goal being at a 100 by the time we have our graduates of 20 >> um 2028. Um just a quick overview over here on the um right side we have just a quick diagram of where we currently sit with our class of 25. Um we had a graduating class of 76%. Um again remembering that if TEA does allow us to go in and make those corrections. We could potentially change that 76 to a 95. And if we do have the 95 then again we would be on track. We would be doing really good. Um if we do end up with the 76 um and without the corrections then we would be below the goal of an 88. Um hopefully we won't know till August
um if they are going to allow us to submit those corrections again for class of 2025. We did submit the the corrections for class of 24 and those were approved. Okay. Um, just a quick recap, this is how our kiddos earn that CCMR point. Um, they can earn it through college readiness, such as taking a dual credit class, passing the TSI, um, earning their associates degree. They can earn it through credit um, through career industry, um, being a um, student in our CC CTE programs and earning that industry certification um, or graduating from the junior college with their um, level one or level two certificate. Um they can also earning it by um on the military pathway by enlisting in the military. And we do have our three students who have enlisted this year as
seniors. Um next school well in class of 2028. They they'll be able to earn it on military enlistment. Um they won't have to enlist. They'll just have to have a score of at least a 31 on their ASVAB test. So that's something to look forward to um in the future. Um looking at our goals, this is just putting it on a graph for us. So again, um we the goal was 84. We surpassed our goal of 84. We're currently at N8 and then the goal is to end at 100. Um looking at our GPM 1.1. This is looking at our students who are graduating with dual credit um dual credit hours under their belt before they graduate. Um the class of 2025 graduated with um well 30 36% of our students graduated with at least
nine hours of dual credit um under nine hours of dual credit under their belt. The target goal being 27% of our students. And then just looking at projections, you're going to see the gray column. These are projected numbers. They're not finalized numbers. Um college has ended for the the month of May. Um but those grades are still being entered. If all goes well, we should be looking at 46% of our graduating class will graduate with um a credit a CCMR point in one point in GPM 1.1. So again, we look like we are um definitely on target for this GPM. >> Quick question if I may. >> Go ahead. >> How many students graduated with their associates? >> Oh, great great segue. Um, so this past May, uh, May se May 8th, we, um, went
to our graduation. We graduated 17 seniors with an associates degree. So they graduated high school. They graduated college before even graduating high school. We graduated eight welders, senior welders with a level one certificate, and we graduated 21 seniors with a PCT certificate as well. So we had 41 graduates at the um, Southwest Texas College. We had the big graduate, the biggest graduating class of the day. Um, of course, Del Rio's bigger than us, but but we as Cruz Springs, we we looked really good out there. Um, so 41 graduates total. Um, so in looking at our dual credit and our GPM 1.1, so what is working well? Um, I think what helps our kiddos right now is that first dual credit class they take, we have our our adjunct facilitator, there on campus. So, we
try really hard to make sure that their first dual credit class as a freshman or a sophomore for them to be successful, we want to make sure that it's a face-to-face teacher. So, they're getting that face-to-face instruction. It's a college professor. Um, most most likely it's coming from Southwest Texas and they are learning not only are they learning how to do time management, plan their calendar, read a syllabus, um, maneuver Canvas, ask all the questions. Um, so we're we're allowing them that opportunity by having that face-toface teacher either in the evening with Mrs. Mandola or face tof face with Mr. Sanchez in music or Mrs. Alvarado in our um community health course. All of the classes that we offer do lead up to pursuing an associates degree. So, we are trying to hit those core
classes first. Um, the college, another thing that's working well is the college allows our students to take up to 15 college hours without passing the TSI. So, that's five college classes that they can take and and not have a passing TSI score. Um, the downfall is once they get to those 15 hours, if they haven't passed the TSI, then they're kind of on a halt until they can um continue um enrolling in dual credit courses. But by this time, the 15 hours, they've already earned their CCMR point on our side. But again, TSI is really big. So, that's why you're also going to see it on our needs attention side. Um, another thing that's really nice that we noticed this year, um, is if a student enrolls in particular classes, so if they take English
0221301, um, speech 1311, or humanities 13, 1301, they automatically earn a point for us when we're looking at CCMR. So, everywhere else you have to you have to earn nine hours. So, they have to pass three classes, but if they take one English class or one math class or one speech class, they automatically earn the point. So, us being strategic, we're going to start looking at ways to help our students enroll in those courses um sooner sooner in their career in high school so that just in case something happens and they don't pass the TSI, they've already earned their CCMR point as a freshman or as a sophomore. So, again, it's going to require more planning between myself, my future partner, um so that we can track these kids a little bit better. Um, again,
we have a really great relationship between myself, our counselors, um, our administration, making sure that we can plan and fit all these classes into their schedule. This is not an easy task for our students. Um, it requires a lot of time, not only in their day, but in their school schedule, they have um, I mean, to make it work to to make an associates work, that's 60 college hours on top of their high school career. So, by the time they're sophomores, juniors, and seniors, they're taking three classes, four classes per semester in order to fit their associates into their high school career. If you've if you've had a child go through the dual credit program, you know that's hard. You know, that's challenging and it takes a lot of time. Um, but it also takes
a lot of planning to make sure it can fit in our um in our periods throughout the day. Um, again, and then we off we also offer both academic and technical. So our technical programs, those are going to be our welding, our nursing, um potentially future growth. Um the college has sp has spoken to me about um of course going construction science in the future, going office business, technology in the future, and all of those being other dual credit opportunities for our students. Um needing attention again is just better planning, better um better planning for our students and offering more um so that we so that we hit all populations. So we want to make sure we support all students. We want to make sure um this year my biggest challenge was there's a lot
of kids in dual credit and they're spread all over the place. So just kind of making sure we have more of that attention to check on them, call them out, ask them what's going on. Hey, why was that assignment missed? The I mean this is a college class and a due date is a due date. There's really not a lot of extensions. Yes, they understand that they're involved in a lot of extracurriculars, but they plug that zero in really fast and it requires them to send an email or it requires them requires effort on the students part. Um, so again, just having those extra eyes on them is going to definitely help. Um, we have a um an adviser that comes in from Southwest Texas who helps our sped students. She meets with our sped
students um that are enrolled in dual credit. So just again um having a little bit more oversight of that and making sure that we're providing them supports or at least making the connection with them the college advisor um so that those those things are put in place. Um we want to make sure that we monitor our students towards completion. Again, nine hours being CCMR, 15 hours being the colleg's recommendation for their for their um technically their accountability, and then if the students are really wanting the 42 core or the 60 hour associates that we're providing them that as well. Um the college also offers virtual tutoring or tutoring for our for our students in at the Crystal City campus. So, just letting them know of those opportunities and how to access that. Again, needing more
attention on our side. Okay. Any questions on the dual credit question? Awesome. Okay. Um our next um GPM is 1.2. 1.2. We're looking at the CTE side. So, first we looked at the dual credit side. This is the CTE side. We're looking at our industry based certifications. So, these are all of our seniors, well, all of our Yeah. graduated seniors going through a CTE program of study and earning of the certificate that matches that course. Now, one thing that changed with this graduating class is in order for a student to earn the earn their CCMR point, they have to be what's considered considered a completer. So, they're completer status, they took three CTE courses in the same program of study, they earned four college I mean they earned four high school credits and they passed
the certification that is assigned to that program of study. So, if we're looking at it, this class um class of 2025, the goal they the their ending percentage was 72, the goal was 62. The current class that we're sitting at, they're currently also at 72% and their goal being 65. So, we definitely are um on track, doing well, CTE, we have 10 programs of study. every single program of study offers this offers a um industry certification and they have multiple attempts to pass this exam. So I know one that we've seen and we've praised and our kiddos have been here in front of you before is our health science program. They take five exams over a course of two years. Their CNA, their EKG, their phabbotomy, their medical assistant, and then their patient care technician.
Um again, if they're not successful on that first attempt, the college will make their arrangement for them to test to have a second attempt. But a lot of those exams um you only get one or two attempts at them without having to retake the course. So we are very again strategic with planning that out, making sure they have that intervention, that extra skills um taught in the classroom before we allow them to retest. Um when we look at what's going well um what's going well, again, I think our programs are doing great. We have our teachers, we have our um students having the opportunities for the certifications. Um, what needs our attention is it it came came across this year a little bit harder for me was when we were looking at our graduating seniors.
Um, we have a lot of seniors who go very heavy on dual credit. So, they don't have time to be in a dual credit class because there's no room in their schedule. Um, CTE takes one or two periods from your school day and they need those periods to earn their associates so that they can be taking those college classes during the day. So, we do have a couple of students who are graduating high school as a non-CTE student because it didn't fit in their schedule, but they are graduating with their college hours. They're earning their CCMR point. They're earning their associates, but they could also be generating bonus outcomes, which is funding for the district um back into our programs if they had an industry certification. So, after um some discussion with Dr. Dr. Dava,
myself, um the counselors, we are thinking that our students who fall into this little bubble that we are going to encourage them to come and challenge an industry certification because they can take a test like Microsoft Office Word expert. Um they and they should be experts at Word by this time if they've gone through all these college classes. They just have to pass an exam. The exam does not have to be tied to their program of study. They just need to have an industry certification. So, we're again going to be better strategically planning to make sure that we catch those kiddos. And that's pretty much it. Just again, we talked about the completion status. Just want to make sure that we make sure our kiddos stay in their program of study, earn their credits, take
their classes, and pass their tests. So, CTE, CC um CTE as far as CCMR is looking really good. Are there any questions for um this GPM? I guess another thing to highlight also is we're adding an additional um program of study next year. Um we're going to add cyber security and computer science. So that's going to be another program to offer and then more certifications to come in the future through that pathway. >> Question. Thanks. Good info >> on the inputs. Uh better monitoring of student success and course completion. Just curious, how many of these kiddos that you might be aware of are already going to go into the workforce or are going to pursue college, more years of college? Do you have that info yet? >> Just curious. I'm I'm not trying to put
you on. >> No, no, it's okay. Um, let me think. Um, so our current se like if we know how many of our current seniors are in are planning to enroll postsecary Yeah. to a university or a trade school >> or or already start working that are already going to just jump right in with what they have in in place or what they've earned. >> Um yes. Well, we have a um we're I was talking to a couple of our PCT students. Um a lot of them use their certifications while they're at university to like work in the work in a clinic or they're working at a hospital. So, a lot of our PCT students, um, at the beginning of the year, graduates from last year, um, they we do like a where are you
now for our seniors and they send us pictures of they're at university, but then they're sending us a picture of what they're doing or how um I'm thinking of like Mia Gettle. She was working at the UVI at the UAI hospital, but sent us a picture of herself at the at the college and at the hospital. So, we're kind of checking in on them postsecary. As far as like the class right now, um I don't have those numbers, but when we did our decision day and they told their classmates like what they're thinking or where they're going, we had about six or seven kiddos that said they were going straight into the workforce. Um and we had about six also say they were going going to go into the military or they were meeting with
recruiters wanting to go into the military. About everybody else was either going to a trade school or going to a going to a university. Um this was actually one of our biggest university graduating classes. Normally we have about 60 to 60 to 70 60 to 70 students um beginning at Southwest Texas College or any other community college and then transferring over to university. We actually had the opposite this year. We have about 40 students going um Southwest Texas. I think it was 47 as of yesterday going to Southwest and then the rest going to the seven or eight going to workforce military and then everyone else going to university. This is a big university graduating class. >> That's nice. And I I would think somewhere in in the discussion or the lessons because kids today
it's all about the dollar signs. You show them those dollar figures what they could earn, you know, right out of high school or finishing up their you know their further college. Yeah, that that that's a good uh a good motivator for some of our kids here at high school. >> Yes. Um and we're also seeing that trend like the kiddos who are asking to be in our like we'll have spots are limited in some of our courses and they'll say miss but I this is what I really want to do and you're like okay you know like how can we make this work because they're thinking life after high school already. Yes. And you you'll have those conversations even as sophomores. It surprises us sometimes that they're already I'm going to do this with my
dad or this is what we have planned. Um but yeah, those conversations are happening. >> Thank you. >> Okay. And then our last GPM um to me would be our lowest GPM. Um but again, we have lots of things to say about it. So GPM 1.3. This is the number of our students who are graduating TSI ready. So TSI has been a struggle for many years um statewide, not only with us. There's a lot of programs, a lot of people have been reaching out, not only to myself, Miss Roxy, Miss Pearson, um our counselors. We've sat on a lot of Zooms trying to see what is the best fit to get our students TSI ready, whether that be um an online learning module, ordering a ordering a catalog pamphlet. Um a company reached out and
they have like a gaming system where they can compete against their peers um and like challenge challenge challenge themselves to little competitions to be working on these TSI skills. So we know we know this is a struggle and we also know that um hopefully with earlier exposure to these types of exams um they might be able to um I guess earn better study skills or use the conmies um use other resources out there to improve their skills. So by the time they're getting to that junior senior junior senior year they are increasing this passing percentage. Um so looking at class of 25 um only 7% of our students earned TSI readiness through College Board and that means they passed both um math and English TSI or math and English SAT. So 7% um is below
our goal of 12%. But also looking at our where we're sitting right now with our current senior class um we actually are at 8%. So the the number the number of students is increasing very very slightly um on the number of students who can pass both parts. We have a lot of kiddos who will end up passing the reading portion but can't pass the math portion or they pass the math and they they pass the multiple choice on the English but they can't pass the essay. Um there's intervention being put in place and then hopefully tutorials or summer boot camps or something that we can do to help get them over that hump with the support of our teachers, the support of the district. um and then whatever we need to purchase to help um
get them there. Now, I do want to say um if it's like, hey, well, what's this beautiful little star up here? So, this 71 this 71% um this is the number of students who who um met TSI readiness but through college prep. So, that means they they were successful on passing the TSI um through our program that we did purchase called Texas College Bridge. Most universities and community colleges will accept the Texas College Bridge certificates in place of the TSI. So that means as long as they earned these certificates, they passed the course, the Texas College Bridge course. It's an online course. Um as long as they've passed these courses, we transfer those certificates to the college. They won't have to take the remedial courses for English or math. Um they can go straight into
college courses. 71% of our seniors from class of 2025 earned their CCMR completion through um through Texas College Bridge. That is great. Our seniors this year are doing the same thing. So, right now it says 12%. Well, it says 8%. But then when we move the star for Texas College Bridge for this graduating class, it it's going to definitely increase. Um it's going to help a lot of our kiddos earn that college readiness. um but it does not help us as far it helps us get the point for the kiddo but it doesn't help us um earn the bonus outcomes. So everything that comes from college board generates funding and if we're not getting them TSI ready through TSI or SAT then we're not um we're preparing them for college. We're giving them the certificates
to be post-secondary ready but we're just not generating the bonus outcomes. Um I'm going to do the next slide and then if we have questions we'll discuss. Um okay so what is working well? Um we offer the SAT we are a testing site. So I think that's a great privilege we have. A lot of districts in our area are not SAT TSI testing sites and we are so I have credentials our counselors have credentials um throughout the district to um proctor these exams. Now SAT is they give us the dates. We do um all of the SAT testing days. We do PSAT for our juniors and we do SAT school days for all seniors in October. So hopefully by the time they graduate high school, everybody's taken the SAT. We do also offer the SAT
in the spring semester to all of our juniors um that are of course wanting to challenge the test as a junior before they become seniors. Um let me see. uh we're a testing site and then this year was the first year um one of our math teachers she um offered to teach a boot camp for us. So this is kind of where we're like tutorials, boot camps, can we get this going? Um do we have somebody in place that can help us? She did a little mock um two-day TSI boot camp. She held the kids for two periods and then they were there with her one day. They were there for two periods again the second day and then they came the third day and they took their test. We put 11 kids in the
boot camp. Nine of the 11 passed. So, it was just very focused um math skills for the TSI and they were successful um in completing the TSI. So, hopefully having more um more boot camps, summer classes, whatever we can do to get our kiddos to come in um to become TSI ready. What needs our attention again is just purchasing some kind of sophomore. It doesn't have to be college AI. It can be whatever we think is going to best fit our students in our district. Um, but we need to we need to put money into some type of a program, intervention, something in place so our kiddos have that extra time and that extra practice to work on their skills that are challenging them on these exams. Um, we need to improve our um tracking
system of our first-time testers and our retesters. Like I said, we have a lot of kiddos that will pass a portion and then they'll come and retest the they passed the multiple choice, but they didn't pass the essay. They'll come retest the essay and they're still earning the same score. In TSI, it's very hard to improve your score if you're not doing something in between the exams. Um, they strongly do they strongly discourage you testing backtoback without intervention in the middle because your score is going to stay the same and data will show that it stays it stays pretty much the same. um needing attention. We've discussed it. And then we offer we we currently offer PSAT to our juniors. Um after discussion, something that we're trying to do for needing attention is we want
to start offering PSAT to our lower grade levels. A few years ago, we used to offer it to freshman and sophomores as well. Um and then we kind of did away with that when the colleges no longer wanted it. But if we um after discussion if we start exposing them maybe eighth grade there's a PSAT 8th grade ninth grade and there's a PSAT 10. So just giving that exposure seeing where they're at and then seeing what types of interventions and what areas to focus on. We would just have to um offer the test. We just have to offer it. Like that's really it's that easy. We already we're already a testing site. We can do it. Um, another thing to remember is that yes, these tests cost money, but they're also there's also a reimbursement
at the end of the year. So, there's a form that I fill out at, you know, somewhere in the fall semester, check all the boxes. Did these kids test? Yes. And then at the end of the year, we there is that reimbursement that can come back for post-secary exams. So, offering it to younger ages. Any questions? I'm not sure if I left anything off. >> I have a question, Madam President. >> Yes. So with thanks for all the data. It's awesome. I'm excited to see it. I always get excited going back to my alma mo all that fun stuff with the TSI um and us being a testing a testing site about how many times do we test in a year and if we notice that some of those kiddos kind of fall short about
how far out are we spacing it so we kind of encourage them to test again? >> Okay. Um the SAT is the dates are given to us by the states or by the nation actually. Um, so those are start in if we start a school in August, they will take their SAT in October, PSAT in October, and then they won't test again. Um, they test monthly after that pretty much. There's always like a Saturday throughout the school year. Um, as far as TSI, we can test um, it just the fall semester is kind of hard to get a lot of testing in. Um, just because of timing, but I would say we have testing maybe once a month um, starting in like November. And then the months that we just passed, I know like during
star time when or or even um, when we're doing the NWA this year, we noticed like if the freshmen were doing their math test, then we were TSI testing the other grade levels. if they wanted to come in and TSI. So, there's some months where we might have multiple days of testing. Um, it isn't like, hey, everybody come take the TSI. We do go out to them or the counselors ask them to come sign up to take a TSI. But, yeah, I mean, I would say at least once a month would be the minimum. And then if we do have this additional person on the team, I mean that's going to be definitely something I pass on and say, "Hey, like we need to have more opportunities for our kiddos, especially the ones who just
need that quick intervention to retest to check the box, you know." >> Okay, I'm excited to see it. >> Yes. Thank you. Thank you. >> Um TSI. Okay, no more TSI questions. SAT again. Definitely lots of room for improvement. Um I'm excited. I'm excited to see what's to see to come of it. Um, and how we can build this into our either our school schedule or just into um into a goal that they set for themselves. Like today we recognized and it's very new, never happened before. Um, our counselor at the high school, Mrs. Rodriguez, was like, "Hey, I really want to recognize our students for being CCMR ready. Like they've earned this recognition." So, we did take a picture today and um hopefully I can get it from somebody. and we put from freshman's
all the way up to seniors. Everybody that's met this GPM. Um so they they are have been successful in passing both the English and the math portion. Um they all came up. So all of the freshmen, we had I think we have about six freshman and then 10 sophomores, 12 juniors and so many seniors that were got pulled up on stage today to recognize them for already achieving CCMR completion through TSI readiness. So um and that was all her. She was like, "Hey, I'm going to make a certificate. I want to recognize them. this is a big deal. Like they need to know that we're proud of them. Um so they came up today and it was really nice to see. Okay, and that's it for me unless there's anything else y'all have. No other
questions. >> Thank you guys. >> Next we have superintendent guardrails and guardrail progress measures. Uh uh guardrail 3 GPM 3.3 family communication. Thank you board. And this will be on the slide deck um on the screen. I'm sorry you don't have it in your in your packet yet. The So this one is for guard rule three. The superintendent shall not fail to ensure that families receive timely, accurate, and accessible communication on matters that impact their child's education, well-being, or school experience. Interim Guardwell 3.3 which is the family comm communication via parent square. The percentage of families with active parents square accounts who regularly view or respond to district communication will increase from 35% in May 2024 to 55% by May 2026 and I'm proud to share that we are at 79% response rate. So we
are definitely on track. So we have 2,114 users and 1,670 users have responded. So that is really good news. Uh the next slide is an overall snapshot. I included some extra information here only because I think it's very valuable information from our parent square which is our district approved communication dashboard. You'll see that we have 2,254 students on it, 48 staff and staff and teachers, 1,71 parents and 24 guests. We're able to use this for our surrounding daycarees so that we can also communicate with with them. We have a 99.2 contactable uh rate which is very very high. This platform lets us know if there's any uh phone numbers that we need to um correct in order to be at 100%. This next slide, the region uh deliverability is really very cool information because we
have 1,238 parents with emails. 1,185 have opted to receive emails and 1,185, which is 70% are receiving emails with zero% failed emails. That is just I think incredible statistics. With the text texting, we have 1,685 parents with phones. 618 of them, which is 36% have opted to receive text messages, again with 0% file text. And then the app, which we definitely really pushed the app. We have 1,3 parents with the app, which is again phenomenal, which 53% receiving notifications. This next feature lets you know kind of at a at a district what we've done thus far with our direct messages at 77,689. Uh it shows you some of the other statistics with uh there's lots of features like we can do forms with permission slips. Many that we're learning this year new to us. We
can pull you can see someone did a poll calendar invites. We have our elementary uh using Google calendar and it's uh it is synced with parents square and Miss Garcia has shared how much the parents have appreciated that uh 120 files sh files shared 466 items requested 453 photos shared 55 post 96 posts requesting volunteers I mean just really really cool statistics And the next one is the interaction. So you can see that 898 of our families out of 1,71 have interacted with comments, appreciations, um volunteering, direct messaging items, forms, polls. So that's also really exciting to see that. The next one is the distribution. You can see uh our campuses and their distribution rate. You can see the five highest authors in the district which are Lisa Ga at 273 direct messages. Cash Cashley
Kohl's at Kiso Springs Elementary at 217. Deborah Alanise Gonzalez at Kiso Spring Elementary at 199. Jose Ganu, Mr. Gthu at Kisa Springs High School with 192. And then Caitlyn Halverson over at Kisa Springs Elementary kindergarten at 186. So great to see all our campuses represented there. And then this is a really cool graphic. It's uh you can see the date is April 18th to May 17. So about a month and in about a month's time you can see the numbers there of the post direct messages and uh auto notices. You can see the numbers for our elementary at 379 post, our intermediate at 96, our high school at 77, our junior high at 57, and our district at 35. So you can see the number of direct messages. I just think it's really great statistics
that we're able to get to see how our families are interacting. Uh the next one is a contact verification. I put this one here only to show the board that our parents were it syncs every single night. So on this slide you can see how many emails were edited. There was 10 edited. Phone how many? 45. So every time a parent changes their information with the PES clerks at the campuses, uh it will update every single night which also continues to help us have that really uh strong uh communication with our families. So what's working well? Um the district has significantly exceeded the established goal increasing family interaction through parent square from 35% to 79%. And this is just our second year. So definitely want to reach for 100% next year. This reflects increased family
awareness and engagement with district and campus communication efforts. In fact, families have told me if it wasn't Parents Square, it probably isn't true. And I just really appreciate that. Campuses and departments have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing regular updates through parent square regarding academics, events, attendance, student activities, and important district information. Um the schools have uh set up where a parent gets an automatic text message or email if their child is absent. The district has expanded communication efforts through multiple methods including reminders, campus outreach, social media, newsletters, and intentionality, family engagement practices that have strengthened connections with our families and inputs needing more attention. While activity is high, the district should continue to strengthen our two-way communication by increasing family responses. So, that's going to be a big goal for us. Feedback opportunities, surveys,
and interactive engagement rather than just focusing solely on views. review parent square usage by campus, grade level and student groups because not all of our campuses are engaging with it. So have a maybe some some friendly competitions or some uh uh guard roles and expectations so that all of our campuses and all of our teachers are engaging with parent square usage. Maintain efforts around language accessibility, parent training and communication preference to ensure all families can effectively access and engage with the information as district initiatives and enrollment needs evolve. And that's the end of the superintendent guard on the communication goal with parent square. Are there any questions? >> Yes, sir. >> So, a lot of the schools are still sending paper. There's still a lot of paper that uh that's being printed and sent home
like in the folders, especially especially in the elementary uh phone calls. We're still doing phone calls. There's an expectation phone calls, especially if they're absent, too. We want to let them know that we're missing them. Um, so those would be the two off the top of my head that that that I would say are the main two. But what's really cool about Parents Square, Mr. Cruz, and is that it connects to email and it connects to the text messages. And one of the features that we'll be moving into next year is also a virtual phone where every teacher can get um assigned a phone number and they can use their computer or they can use their phone. Uh and that phone number will be assigned to them for the whole year. It's not their phone.
It's a it's an it's a local phone number uh that they would be able to safely use to also communicate with parents that way as well through the parent square. >> Yeah. I mean we we do home visits but I would not say that right now we have a lot of teachers going out on those home Um, this made me think of of another uh area and I don't believe it's a parent square on the um like on the emergency side. How do we um inform them, you know, shutting down schools or some lockdown? How do we how do we inform our parents? I I know that was always a big question that's asked of me. So yeah, we we actually have had a lot of success on that because we have had some crisis
situations and so it goes out multiple ways. So it goes out on the parents square. So through the text message, but they'll also get an alert, they'll also get a phone call and we also put it on our web page. >> So it can be sent through this. >> Yes. >> Okay, great. Okay, I wasn't aware. >> And our web page is now also attached to our parents square. So anything that gets uh posted on our parents square also goes to our web page. >> Okay. Thank you. And we and we have the we still have the automated call as well. >> Yes, sir. >> Uh for those parents or custodians that don't have social media, uh students live with a different caretaker, how can we make sure they get these messages? I know a
parent approached me and they don't understand social media and parent square. >> So yeah, Parent Square is not social media and in fact we we still put on Facebook and Instagram and uh Twitter and all of those are social media platforms. Facebook's a really popular one, especially in our community, but Parents Square is not that. And they do not have to download the app to get the information. They will still get the information as long as we have their email and their phone number on file. they will we can still engage with them through the through the parent square app and our data shows it. Our numbers show it. We have about 1,800 students and we're at 1,700 u 79% contactability. So the data and the evidence is there that we are reaching our families.
Miss Evelyn Castro our um federal programs she still does a lot of family engagements especially for our Spanish speaking families. So all of those are done face toface. you know, we invite them, we send out the flyers uh with the students, hand copies, because we're still doing that. We haven't we haven't dropped that. We haven't dropped doing hand copies and then sending it out through emails and text messages and also posting it on social media. If there's any families that are having problems, we encourage them to come. Last year was our first year, so we did a big push. We had our technology department uh do several sessions where the families could come in to get a tutorial so they felt comfortable. Uh and it's not a bad idea, Mr. Monon, for us to continue
to do that. So, I'll talk to my the technology department about that. >> I have a question. Do you have like do the principles know like who those parents are? Like do we have like is that like a small number of that do not like have Yeah. socials or phone or have no access or way to get it that that they are concerned about it, >> right? >> Yeah, they know. Yeah, they know who they are and we even have some who have like blocked, you know, that they don't they don't want to be contact. And so, yeah, the principles know who those who those families are. Yeah. And that's when we need to get in the car and we just need to take a drive over. Yeah. To make sure that we're reaching all
of the families. >> Yeah. Yes, sir. Thank you. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay. Now we'll go on to uh eight superintendent briefing, student recognition, staff recognition, and bond update. >> Thank you. So, um, again, just to highlight many of the things that we have going on in the district, we have, uh, two of our junior ROC, uh, students who received $125,000 scholarship each, and we're extremely proud of Thor and Patricia Chavez. They are bound for greatness. Congratulations to them. They were recognized recently at the senior awards. We had an amazing senior award ceremony. You can see the beautiful picture there. Our students uh received many many awards and they have received many many scholarships. And then we have the next uh picture uh the Dante Fighting Heart Award MVPs. This was at our
um varsity sports athletic banquet. It was a beautiful event and we had so many families. I think there was close to 400. Thank you board members who were able to join us. This is something that our AD Gonzalez started last year has been very well received by our families. But you can see Balina there and and uh and also um oh my gosh his name is leaving me Cyple. Thank you. Yes, thank you. And then the next slide you can see our graduates, our proud graduates. This was just a couple weekends ago. Uh same time my Elijah graduated, we had our seniors getting their associates drew here. something for us to be very, very proud of at Southwest Texas Junior College. We're very proud of our partnership with them and these incredible students. Wonderful milestone.
And then we had celebrating our top 10%. This was our very first top 10% breakfast here. Thank you also for the board members that were able to join us. It was a a really nice event. Our parents really thanked us for the opportunity to join their seniors. We had a guest speaker, Patrick Frasier. It was a great time together to celebrate our top 10% seniors and it's a tradition we are look forward to continuing. We had our FFA leadership uh growth banquet also another really incredible way that was on May 8th I believe a Friday evening. You can see the picture there. Our FFA keeps growing and we're proud of that. And then we uh went around and surprised all of our teachers during teacher appreciation week. We gave them my my entire leadership team
went and we did breakfast on a cart. So, they had yogurt and different treats. It was a lot of fun. And then we had our annual retirement banquet. Uh this was the second year to give our honor, our retirees a time to be honored in front of their families. And it was a a great event. Our board members, many of our board members were there to share words of appreciation. 178 years in with our retirees combined. Just incredible. And then we were able to surprise our four teachers of the year on their campus with their students and uh our dimmit foundation uh blessed them with a gift basket and uh flowers. And so here you see our kinder uh teacher of the year at CSSE, Miss Albertson. And then you'll see Miss Royy's over at
CSI. And then you'll see Miss Carmen. She's at junior high. Maria Carme and then at our high school you may see Miss Aanita Hereda. We're so proud of all of our four teachers and we're keeping it a secret but our elementary teacher of the year and our secondary teacher of the year will be announced at our end of year awards on May 28th. We're excited to to announce that. And then we had our uh state of the district. Thank you for all who were able to attend. This was a a beautiful event to be able to tell of all the wonderful things we're doing in the district. Our goals, some of our challenges, we shared some challenges with our attendance, some challenges with the state not providing any more funding, and some challenges with the
decrease in our um revenue due to the appraised values. So, through all of that, we were very excited to have a great turnout and our students performed. That was a great highlight. Our mariachi sounded amazing. Uh and so wonderful event. It's our second one and we we're excited to continue this also as a tradition. And then our uh board updates, we have TWWs here, Miss Katalina. We also have Josh here from Butler Cohen. And you'll see some pictures here. I think what's most exciting, board, is the work that we are seeing with our French drains. In fact, we had our weekly meeting. We meet every week, Tuesday at 2 o'clock. And they talked about how those French drains are working because we have gotten some rain here in Gizo Springs. [clears throat] And so it
is it's very exciting to see that the plumbing also has has uh gone in and they're mobilizing areas to start the concrete in the gym and kitchen areas. So some really great pictures there to highlight some of the the work. Um Josh, do you want to add anything to that? No, I think you're doing better than me. [laughter] But it just wanted to say thank you guys for having us. Uh very exciting things as Mrs. Pearson is saying. Uh lot of activities underground just you know holding an umbrella over us uh trying to work through the water. Uh but yes, we are putting the system to a test. Uh the guys are doing phenomenal. Uh the community is doing phenomenal. Uh yeah. So so kind of just to backfill that the French drains are going
in about half of it is installed now. U the the the the exciting things we're seeing are we have finally made it to the stage where where our concrete guys show up. They've been here about a week and a half. They're getting started in the gym, kitchen areas. Uh we're we're praying for dry weather and and hopefully we'll start seeing concrete go down next week, which is our hope. Um other than that, you guys will continue to see that underground go away. Uh French drain we should have wrapped up here in the next couple weeks. in in you guys next walk, you'll see some of the last of it and uh start seeing some of the rebar and and all that take fruition uh and and really start putting the ground the the the hard
permanent ground down here in the next month. Uh very exciting stuff. Thank you. I mean, I hope to see all of you guys next week and uh get to take you guys around. Uh we we can go to the next slide. There's some more items. Um this kind of just takes you through the months. We're gonna start pouring concrete towards the end of this month. Continue with concrete in June. Uh one of the more exciting things is steel shows up towards the end of the month. Uh steel will show up at the end of June and we'll start going vertical uh beginning of July. So, uh, we really start seeing that school come up, uh, activities, uh, around the clock, just just working at it, chipping at it. All of our forces kind of start
there in the gym kitchen area and just start going into the two schools. So, uh, large volume of workforce here the next month. Uh, exciting things, exciting opportunities. Get the ambassadors. I know it's summer, but I'm sure they'll be around. And if if any of you guys want to come out of out of cadence, that's okay with us. Just give us a heads up and uh we'd love to show what we're doing. Uh any questions about the construction or uh activities going on? >> Question. Everything is on schedule. No hiccups, surprises. Well, not surprises, but uh mother nature is doing her thing. Uh seems like every time we open a hole, it rains. So, uh last month we did lose about a week. Uh we were able to work with some of our contractors, bring
extra guys, and I think we made up four of the five days. Uh they are working this weekend to try to make that up. So, uh, making it up in weekends and and trying to keep that going. So, uh, we're just about caught up from from the weather. Uh, hopefully this weekend we're able to work and and make that last day up, >> but we can't complain about the rain. >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah, >> I closed the weather app. So, >> I wanted to let the board that I'm so proud of the collaboration. Um, you know, lots of work obviously done behind the scenes every single day, but every week we meet and our engineer, our civil engineers on there, Raymond from Morin, our uh architects are on there and we just are all
looking at everything so deeply. So, I just want the board to rest assured that we are monitoring this project extremely closely. And I think what's really exciting is that those French drains are in and we did get that rain and we were able to see a ton of pictures. I'm going to send y'all some extra pictures just so y'all can see some additional pictures of the French drains. Um they're out there. We're also going to make a video. God is going to work with Bob Low for us to make a video of all of that uh construction with the plumbing and the French drains to put on our on our website. And we gave Roland access because we get pictures every day. So Roland Alvarez has access now so that he can kind of help
push some more pictures out for our community, especially as we get the concrete and the steel coming up. We want to we want to engage our community some more with pictures. But I I just wanted to share Josh and Golina that just the the collaboration has been really great. So thank you. >> Yes. Yes. No, thank you. and for the board. I mean, what keeps us going is are are timely decisions from you, timely decisions from the design team. So, uh, all that's working very well. It it's a well old machine. I think we've worked I mean almost two years now. So, uh, it's been going great. >> Great news. >> Uh, because of the rains, of course, there's delay in the work, right? >> Correct. >> How how would these delays affect the budget?
Like even if it's raining like there's no work, are they still paying the workers? >> So, right now there it hasn't affected the budget. Um the the the National Weather Service kind of a lot. Hey, you have this, you know, that gets autoc calculated into the construction schedule. Hey, based on the amount of rainfall or what have you, this what you have allocated. So, we've we've worked outside of those bounds, like I said, making up weekends, bringing more folks. Uh, it's just advantageous for the companies to put put more resources and get, you know, get more work done. So it it it's just a balancing act right now. Uh which we've brought really good partners that really really just want to get the work done. So right now we we've been great. >> We we
haven't f we haven't released them to to be produced. They're in the design team right now. We're all reviewing all those documents and all that good stuff. They're they're only about five months out. We won't need them until the end of the year to put them on on the roof. So, we're we're good right now. >> And Josh, I know y'all had talked about his subcontractor for Gatalina wanted to mention it. What would that be for? It'll be this summer sometime. >> Yes. So, this summer we'll have a career fair. Uh, and uh, I I had a few questions even today about folks that are interested in working with some of the trades, whether it be plumbing, you know, mechanical, what have you. Uh, we'll we'll have that flyer produced, shared around with everyone, do
do social media postings and all that good stuff, >> and then host all of our vendors, subcontractors here in the community uh, to see how many folks uh, would would like to join the team. We can put it in the paper, too. So, yeah, once we finalize the day, we we'll get it. >> Thank you, Josh. >> President, thanks for the info. You mentioned um a a good number of of workers coming on. What how many are on site right now? Just estimate that that are on >> Yeah. So, right now we're running about 35. >> Okay. Uh and and depending on where we are, you know, here in the next I would say 60 days, we'll probably be up in the 75 80 range. >> And that's perfect segue to what you said because
that was my other question. So that career fair will certainly we want to work to get those the our local folks that who qualify to come on in >> correct >> get their hands on this one. Great. Great. Thank you. >> Awesome. Any other questions? >> Thank you. >> Awesome. Thank you, guys. Appreciate it. >> Thank you, Josh. Your >> turn. >> And the board, just to update you on the E3 project, which is our junior high in our high school. They're working on the crawl space. We did get the circulation uh units in to push the air out from under both buildings. So, they're working on installing those. I think it's about two weeks out also. And then now with the rain potentially coming in, that could delay it. There is an opportunity for
the board to go for a walk this Thursday for anybody who's interested at 3:00 uh to see the crawl space just to start to kind of see what they did with digging the trenches down there and uh starting to once that's dried up, then that's when they would lay the the vapor barrier. And then for Mnt, I did get a message they're also going to be a little delayed because of the weather. They were going to do the mulch in the front and kind of the the shrubs, but that'll be pushed back a few days. Um, there was some additional work, those of us that you went on the last walk where we were going to put in some double doors uh in the first section in order to get the the crates in with
the paper. So, that'll be a few more weeks. So, we had originally said end of May, 1 of June, it's probably going to be more like the middle of June for that project. But once we get a clear date, then we will schedule a grand opening for our Mnt facility. Also, the field the through warranty work is completed. Uh the the the entire turf is laid. It's uh it's been glued. All of that's good. So now they were just laying on the next two levels, which was the sand and the pebbles. And so that really should be completed here in the next day or so. And so we're we are good to go for graduation. We're good. Thank you. Next, we'll go on to financial briefing. General fund financial statement, uh, child nutrition financial statement,
debt service fund financial statement, and construction financial statement. >> Thank you. Hello. >> Okay. Thank you very much. Um, so at this time we're at April, these are the financials as of April 30th, 2026. We're 66% into the fiscal year, which is eight months. And so, uh, if we look at our our, uh, financials for the general fund this year, we have collected year-to- date from September to April 59,55,865. Our expenses for the general fund are 23 million 391,128 leaving us with a balance of 36,1614,737. If you net the projected chapter 41 payment, which is 29 million, we're ahead about 6.9 million at this point. uh rolling forward the fund balance from the previous fiscal year which is audited of 19.9 million we're at approximately 26.8 8 million for food service. Our revenues collected this
year so far 1,530,939 expenses 100 I mean I'm sorry 1,442,814 uh ahead on revenues by 88,125 at this point for the debt service which is our interest in syncing the bond payments. Uh we have a fund balance of 3,236487 collected so far which includes interest and our tax collections 10,200,414. Our bond payments in February that we paid were 2,356975 leaving us at 7,843 439. And we do have a bond payment scheduled in August. Okay. And then on the next page for the general fund here you can see the details of the revenue what we've collected for the current month and where we are. Current month 861,115 and then for the year the 59 million that that I just reviewed. And then after that you'll see the appropriations which are expenses by function. And you can
see the listing there of what it looks like for the month. So for the month is 2.4 4 million on the year to date. You can see uh what I just mentioned about the um the 36 million. And then at the bottom, we're monitoring keeping an eye fund balance on that page. If we go to the next page, you'll see food service their collections for uh local, state, and federal funds. And then the food service expenses of the 1,442 and the 88,125 where we're ahead at this point. And then the next page on the debt service, the same thing here. You can see our um our year-to- date collections and taxes and also uh the interest together and then the details there. And then on the last uh next page is the construction fund. Uh
here we have our interest which is 257,699. Our year-to- date revenue so far for this year's the 2 million 329812. Our expenses so far 16,188,457. So of course we're starting to use our our bond money here. And then uh that that same information is recapped on the uh on the following page which shows our fund balance at the end of the fiscal year where we are right now and our fund balance as of April 30th which is 81992868. That's all I have >> question regards to the year to date expenses for for the construction fund which is uh 16.1 million. Does this include the the 8 million u uh allocated to the E3 construction? >> It does include it. Yes, sir. >> So, all the 8 million has been expended already. >> Oh. Uh I
have a separate detailed sheet for that that's not included in here that I can share with you and the board where I I have a subtotal for the various contractors. We have erro E3 Butler Cohen and so forth and the soft cost and things like that. Um but where we are on the project I don't think that we're you know what I do have no I don't have it with me. Um I can get that to you but we I do have a sheet where I track it >> by contract and all the payments. Yes. Uh so >> how is it broken down? >> Oh, correct. Yeah. Here is the total all together all vendors. Correct. Now on the E3 project, the board did approve five million to be paid out of the general fund.
That's already been recorded. And if you go back to that sheet under the general fund, I don't know if y'all can see it, but you'll see that function 81, facility acquisition and construction, and it's 4,910 657. Go up again. Again, one more right there. So, right here, the four million nine. Yeah. And the reason that's 4 million is because the bond was 5 million, but we had a bond issuance costs. So netting that out. >> And uh when are we starting to pay uh the 5 million tax loan? >> We already did that. That whole Oh, you mean the payment back to the bank? >> Next year. Yeah. And it's roughly about 475,000 a year. Yes. >> Any other questions >> for the general fund? Is that what you're questioning? Yes. So if we go
to the very front cover recap page, our audited fund balance as of 8312025 was 19,941. You see that there? Okay. And our collections through uh taxes and all our revenue for the district for the general fund is 59,505. What we have paid so far are 23 million 391128. So currently our revenues over expenditures are 36,114737. So it's actually 36 million. But forformational purposes I'm saying however if we reduce the chapter 4149 payment that's coming 29,206505 we estimate that to be 6,983 232 at this moment in April. So if I add the 6.9 million to the 19 million it's already reducing the anticipated chapter 49 payment. But if you want to know cash where we are right now, it's the 36 million plus the 19 million. But I didn't wanted us to think it was spendable.
So I subtotal that there. Okay. >> You you have said that we were at 66.67% >> expenditure. Correct. >> Okay. The use of the use of our funds, you know, the revenues and all of that. >> Okay. So, let me explain that. >> Fiscal year, right? >> So, the fiscal year time pass mean the 66.67% that means that eight months have passed out of 12. So, we're 66% of our time. So, our expenses should roughly be around 66%. And if you look at the general fund, uh we have collected 93% of our revenue. So that means we've collected the majority of our revenue already. On our expenses, we're at 68.86%. However, in that percentage, I'm already taking away the chapter 49 because it's it's too big, otherwise it'll skew the number. If you look at
food service, food services collected 71% of the revenue. So they're a little bit ahead of where they would be as far as where we should be, which is 66%. Food services expenses are actually on point at 67%. The time pass is 66%. And then the interest in syncing, we've collected 99% of the revenue that we that we or we're anticipating. So we're way ahead on on the interest in syncing. And the reason that 28% on the interest in syncing is low because we only pay twice a year in February and in August. So my question would be ma'am um within the next few months we'll be doing our audit and all that doing our budget completing all of that. How are we going to end the year in a in a positive in a deficit
or are we going to be even I guess balanced budget? Let me let me work on that and present that to you at the next board meeting because what I'm what I have a separate spreadsheet where I'm monitoring month by month what our expenses are and I have a projection for what I what we spent last year in the months of May, June, July and August and I'm monitoring that to see if we're at the same places where we should have been. So I can share that with the superintendent and project uh for you at the next meeting. I didn't bring it with me so I don't really have a an you know an estimate but I mean we feel very very confident that we will for the year. Uh but I can give you
something more concrete. >> Okay. Thank you, Miss >> Any other questions? >> It might relate. If I'm not allowed, President Franco, please tell me you're not allowed, Mr. D. So, uh, I was already thinking of summer school. Uh, because when I see food service, are we good to go? We're set up. Am I allowed to ask >> because it ties to funing? We're good to go with >> uh which campuses, where we're doing food, >> all in place. >> And we have a flyer going out, right, Mr. Person? Or is it already out? >> Yeah, it went on Parents Square and it's already on social media. Thank you, Karen, for all your work with the child nutrition sites and all of that good stuff. >> Which campuses will be operation operational for for summer school?
>> We will be at CSC and high school. >> Okay. But we're also going out to Ashton and Bigwells, which I've already visited, looked at the sites and put out my signs out there, stopped at different stores and shops, dropped off my little flyers. Um, I'm ready to go here in Kiso. I have about 10 spots that I'm going to go and drop off signs and whatnot. >> And it's also going to be in the paper. >> I've already sent it to the paper. Yes, ma'am. It'll be in the paper twice. >> Yes. and on parent square. >> Yes. >> All right. Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Item 10, approval of consent agenda items. questions or do I have a motion? President Franco. Um just a followup on item D, multi-year modified schedule
for state assessment testing days waiver for Ciso Springs High School. We did we discussed one time. My apologies, but just some followup clarification. >> Yeah, we have to do this every couple years. Mr. T, do you want to come and talk about this? If we want to continue with it, we have to bring it. So, it's kind of a we've done it several times and the district has to come to the board every couple I believe it's every two years for approval, but it's for state testing days. Mr. T, do you want to give a little synopsis? [clears throat] >> Yes. Um, yeah, Mr. uh and and board members. Um um so um during like Miss Pearson was saying during uh testing uh days uh for high school um um Mr. Dr. Ku had had
approached us about because sometimes uh they need um faculty and staff for the monitoring and so it makes it very difficult because not everyone is testing and so what what the modified schedule allows is um as as long as as the students that are not testing are here for four hours, we get full attendance. And so, um, they did have it a couple of years ago as Miss Pearson was saying, but every couple of years we have to renew it if we want to continue with this practice. >> I recall. Thank you. Just just a reminder. Thank you. President, can you take a look at the minutes? >> There's a correction on the minutes that needs to be >> page 25 26 page 26 of the meeting. on April 21st on page 26 done at
the end. I think there needs to be a correction. Motion carried 6 and0 >> but the vote doesn't represent Just need to note that in the motion. I don't think What's So that would be items B, C, and D as listed, Mr. Mr. Moronus. Items B, C, and D. Is that where you're correct? A, B, C, and D. A, B, C, and D. One, two, three, four, five. Under 11. A, B, C, and D. Should all be 51. Is that correct? Correct me if I'm wrong, please. Sir, no. I I'm asking the question. If we're referring to items 11, that would be A, B, C, and D because they all say 6. Okay. Okay. Okay, we'll go ahead and make the motion because I'm not my language will not go well with this. What? >>
Before the motion's made, may I ask another question? Unless we're done with discussion on on our um special maintenance project fund. Uh Mrs. Pearson, you sent us some information. Was it this weekend? This past weekend. What What are we Please remind me. >> Yes, sir. >> What we're paying for and the dollar figure. >> Yes, sir. Um so, the 111,000 got put back. So, if you'll recall, we were going to take that amount out, but we ended up using that through the construction fund. So, What has come up since then is if you'll recall about uh probably the first about three weeks ago, maybe even almost four weeks ago, we had that really bad storm >> and it uh caused damage at the high school high school. At the high school it uh >> oh
there was a a sprinkler system with our sprinkler system. >> There was lightning to the panel. So the panel is completely fried. it needs to be replaced and uh that is a significant cost because it's an electrical plant panel and inside that uh panel for the sprinkler that needs to be replaced as well. That cost we still don't have they're each going to be about $20,000. So that's one part of it. The other part of it is through all of the renovations that we've done, we uh were we were able to determine that at the junior high, the HVAC systems that are over on top of the um gymnasium, those were replaced with new ones, but they were never attached to the uh fire security with fire. We use fire tool. They were just never
secured. So, we have to pay to get that done because by by statute, we need to get that done. So that is that was about 16,000 to get that done. >> So what we have in budget should be okay to cover. >> Yes sir. Yes sir. >> That's okay. That was my point. Thank you. >> Yes sir. Thank you. I'll make a motion to amend the um minutes of the meeting. Uh D I think I I I I voted yes in here. So it's it should be uh instead of uh It should be 70. >> We had a board member absent that day. This one April 1st. Yeah. Um, I make a motion to amend the minutes on April 21st, 2026 by changing my vote to yes instead of a no. So, it's going to
be 70 6. >> We had one >> one board member absent. Okay. 6. Do >> I have a second on the amendment? We can motion to amend the minutes of the April 21st meeting. There was other errors on that. >> Or we can just pull we can just pull the minutes from this. We can just Okay. We can just pull the >> Okay. Okay. I I'll be drawing motion. Okay, I'll go ahead and make a motion to approve the minutes for the >> consent and agenda items excluding uh section ABC D for your vision by superintendent and the board president. Everything else as is. >> Motion made by Wilbur Cruz to approve the consent agenda items excluding the consideration of minutes for revision. >> Second. Seconded by Noarat. All in favor? >> I opposed. None.
Motion carries. >> Okay. Uh item 11, discussion discussion and possible action items. Consider approval of CS CISD branded design for district Ciso Springs Elementary Springs Intermediate. KZA Springs Junior High and Kisa Springs High School. >> Uh thank you board. So uh throughout this process the Karisa Springs CISD included staff represent representatives from all campuses and departments. We had about 20. The work reflects our values, traditions and vision of the district. The committee met over several collaborative sessions to gather input and feedback. The final working session was held on April 23rd where the branding guide and design systems were finalized for presentation to the board of trustes. The goals of the branding initiative were to create a recognizable district-wide identity, allow individual individuality at the campus levels while maintaining district alignment, improve our recognition, clarity, and
consistency, and build pride, trust, and connectction within the KZA Springs CISD community. And so what you have in front of you is the presentation that starts with our beautiful water tower there. So, uh, the branding objectives, much of what I just shared with you now, and then we started with our district logo. You can see, uh, what we were using currently as our district, which is the crest and and the paw. And then you see some of the, uh, images that kind of at the committee said that they liked, and that was kind of our guiding light as we started working on this. So, you see a before and then you see an after. uh CRCS with the year that the district was established which is 1914. A great pride point of pride for the
district. It's astonishing how long the district has been uh established. Really remarkable. You still see our paw there. So we feel like this is a a very collegate and uh and good representation for the district. Uh the the next one is just a bunch of different variations. Part of the process is we'll have lots of layouts. These are just some examples and the color scheme. Uh you can see the paws up on the top. They could all be used uh in different ways whether you needed to use it for letter heads, whether you needed to use it for shirts or pins or a very variety of different ways to be able to use that. And then uh we have the elementary. Right now what we've been using is a lot of AI generated figures. This
is the first time they've used the Wally the cat, which is kind of like a a AI generated cat there. Really cute. And then the next one you see are wild cat. This is the one that they ended up uh it's a junior little wild cat. And uh the it was very clear of the 20 member committee that we wanted to stay with our wildcat head that that we did not want to go around go out. It's a it's a deep rooted tradition for Ciso Springs and we wanted to maintain that. So you can see the elementary here. Doesn't mean that they can't use the cute wy anymore. That would be okay too. And then we have different variations here. You see the paw with the CS in it. Again, can be used in a
variety of different ways. And then for the inter intermediate, you you see what they again were using an AI generated. And then you'll after which is the same Wildcat. As you know, we're moving into our new schools. The elementary and intermediate will be close by to one another. So, the committee felt that it was a good representation. We want to make sure that we have the right cats if we're doing anything on murals or on our walls. We want it to represent Ciso Springs and have a tight unity to the to the district. You can see some different samples there also with some different layouts. And then our junior high, again, a little more advanced of the cat. So, the junior high has been using the uh varsity cap from the high school and the
paws. The paws will still remain on our all of our athletic uniforms. And you can see the before with the head. And then just a little bit more crisp with the paws out. still showing that feier as they get into junior high and all of the different activities and then again a few different layouts with the junior high and then the high school. You see our high school and our paw and then uh what we've been using the the wallcat head. So, you just see an updated uh fresh wallcat, still the head. Um, still showing the the fierce colors for the high school. And then you see a bunch of the different layouts there. So, um, you have a before slide and then an after slide that kind of just shows the unity across the
district for our branding. And then, uh, the next slide, you see some of the fonts that would be used. And then you see the color schemes that can be used in a variety of different ways depending on what the need is. And uh next steps would be um uh moving forward with exporting all of the different u branding into EPS JPEGs. you know, getting all of the right pixels, all of the right colors, the light, the darkness, organizing it all on our website, having branding guidelines and activation and ensuring that everybody has access to it. So, this would be something that, you know, making sure all the outlining is proper and colors are proper. Uh, this would be easily accessible to all of our vendors. So, all of our local vendors would still have access
to it and be able to to use it. So, That is uh the branding presentation if there is any questions. >> So these would be the the the cats that the all sports would use for high school and junior high. >> Uh yes and mainly on our letter heads and probably like shirts and t-shirts and different stuff like that. The paw which is uh the paw was brought in I guess several years ago by the paw would remain the all of our athletic gear and on our hats. And so the the paw would still be utilized. None of that would change. And I think a lot of the purpose behind this was well for one to be copyrighted so that we can maintain ownership of it and we don't have someone coming tell us to
you know cease and desist on anything. But I think secondly too is just we didn't want a lot of different random cats in our new schools. Uh we've had past history with that at some of our other schools and so we wanted to stay away from from that happening. >> So then yes, this is will be the one that the sports would use. >> If if the sports use anything for uniforms. Yeah, but right now we don't use any for uniforms. just the pop. >> Mainly the cat is used more for like um celebration t-shirts and fun t-shirts and you know individual groups or families. >> I'm just saying because like if we're if we're going to go into this expense to do that that means that this is what we're sticking to year to
year so that we're not Yes. >> changing different >> Yeah. And Yes. And I think the cat is head is here to stay like it's very beloved by the community. You know, they do say that every eight to 10 years, you should reook at it to make sure it still stay fresh and catchy and that you have good font and good colors, but yes, absolutely. This is what the committee felt very proud about. I know the committee isn't here, but again, there was we had, you know, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Mayor Gonzalez, we had me board members on there, Mr. Damontes, Miss Udie, Miss Garcia, um a lot of our athletic coaches, Vonteo, Haley Diaz. Um, so we had we had a really good deep representation of all of the campuses. Miss Diaz, our CFO was on
there as well. >> Teachers. Yes, sir. >> Miss Pearson, I have a question. It says here representation from all campuses. >> Yes, sir. >> Who was on the committee? >> Oh, just mention some of the names right now. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Did we have some from every campus? >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, all four of our campuses were representative. >> Questions? Any questions? Or do I have a motion? >> Yes. and administrators. We had a variety of administrators on there, too. coaches, teachers, administrators, and teachers. No questions. I have a motion. a motion. Anyone Madame President, I think um we need uh more uh study on this and discussion. So, I'll make a motion to postpone action um for the next board meeting. Motion made. Motion made by Mr. Doria to postpone action
on this item for next meeting. I have a second. Yes. Postpone. >> Seconded by Oscar Morones. All in favor? >> I opposed. None. Motion carries.
