and call the meeting to order. Time is 601. We'll start with a roll call. >> Jeffrey Ortiz, >> Michael, >> Anita, Franco, >> Wil. >> We have a quorum. Pledge of Allegiance to the flag followed by a moment of silence. Thank you. Public comment. There's none. Okay, we'll go on to the student staff recognition. Starting with star students, Cariso Springs Junior High. Good evening everyone, board members, um, community members and students, everybody here today. I am Marvel is an outstanding student. I'm not sure if Jadens is here. Is she here? She's in the back. Oh, okay. So, she is a true leader. She's in student council. She um she has excellent grades. She um she is one of the students that says our announcements in the morning. She's always everything that she does for our
campus and for being such a great student leader. Okay. [applause] Now we're going to move into Okay, we have some um other students to recognize. I want to recognize our eighth grade cross country um cross country boys. they were to cross country. Uh just inspires me. It's it's amazing what um our boys uh Jew boys and our girls. But I at this time I do want to recognize the eighth grade um cross country boys. [applause] The next group of students that I would like to recognize are the seventh grade A team girls, our district champs. Um, our seventh grade volleyball A team dominated the season and finished out with as district champs. Their hard work, teamwork, and ladycat spirit showed in every game. We are so proud. Congratulations to our girls and our coaches. >>
[applause] >> Venus for finishing as the seventh grade district champion in cross country. That Um, I'm gonna next I'm going to start with um our junior high teachers that are being recognized this month. Um, I'm going to start with Miss U. Maria Celos Galvan. I want to say Miss Celos is new to our campus. She's also new to the subject. She's an art teacher. Uh, she brings a positive attit attitude every day. She has tackled every idea that we send her way and contri contributes greatly. Um, as a member of our emergent tree team, um, we are so proud and incredibly happy that she is with us. She is truly an awesome team member to our junior high team. Um, the other teacher highly knowledgeable in the content of science, but most importantly about Mr.
Chapa is that he cares deeply about students and his commitment to learning and growing every day is evident in everything that he does. We are so lucky to have him on our team. I'm not sure if he's here. [applause] Um our third teacher not here is fully embraces our campus culture. Um, if we had a most spirited teacher award, I think it hands down it would go to um, Miss Carmen. Hi, Miss. She is always uh, when we have our dress up weeks, she goes all out and I mean her outfits are legendary. I can I can tell you that. Um, she is not here. She is with uh, one of her children. Um, I think it was um the other person from junior high that I want to recognize and just he's very quiet,
very subtle, and he's hard to miss because he's always outside taking care of our our building, but it's Mr. Anthony Bueno. Um, so a special shout out to him. He is an amazing groundskeeper. His hard work keeps our campus beautiful, safe, and welcoming every single day. Um, I know that he truly cares. He comes up to me and he tells me, "Mavato, I'm not going to be able to water this section because they're working and um, they're bringing the machinery and it'll damage the grass." So, he knows that I care about the grass looking green. So, he always comes and lets me know, I can't take care of this section right now because they're working on the building. Um, and I truly truly appreciate that. And he brings us donuts, you know. [laughter] He does.
He brings us donuts. And that's not why he's getting the award. He's getting the award because we really appreciate him very much. Thank you, Anthony, for everything that you do. >> Yes, ma'am. Sure. board. I just want to tell you all the way. >> [applause] >> Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah, thank you, Miss Pearson. And I echo exactly what you said, too. So, thank you parents for all the support that you've given us, our boosters. Uh, no kidding about the feeding. Uh, Jesus. Uh, well, I'll stand behind the counter. But these kiddos uh with all their hard work they did did from summer band to now, we're talking July 14th up until we finished homecoming. We still have a Christmas parade coming up well or whatnot. But uh seeing their faces, the excitement uh when they
when they announced that Karisa Springs High School Division 1 was pretty thrilling to see them and of course advancing to area placing 18th out of a possible 30 bands that competed is a testament in itself as well with a number of schools that exist in class 4. Pearson, uh, mamas, papas, everybody that's take care of our kiddos here. Thank you so much. My staff, Mr. Stevie Sanchez, my wife, Miss Becky Sanchez, Mr. Einstein, our junior high director as well. So, thank you to you guys, too, uh, for the morning rehearsals, afternoon, everything you guys do. So, adios. Thank you everybody. And congratulations, kiddos. Thanks so much. [applause] >> [applause] >> Where are Hello everybody. Everybody mic test. Hello everybody. Mic working. Hello everybody. At this time we would like to um highlight our district holiday
card artwork winners. So our first um selection is from K student Jesus Martinez and look at his beautiful artwork displayed. [cheering and applause] Wow. You want to take a picture? Such a beautiful, beautiful card. Thank you so much Jesus for your contribution. Y beautiful. >> Thank you, Jesus. Well done. Our [applause] next beautiful card is um Abriella Sanchez, fifth grade [applause] here, honey. Congratulations. >> Wow, look at that. >> [applause] >> Our next card from junior high, Nerja Patel. [applause] That looks gorgeous. [applause] And our last card is from Arciso Springs High School, London Aguilar. [applause] Okay, thank you all very much. Okay, we are um our next item is a presentation by E3 integral solutions on facility improvement project update. How about now? Okay, there we go. Madame President, members of the board, Miss
Pearson, thank you all so much u for giving us a couple minutes tonight. This is our first project update, so as we go through it, it's going to be short and sweet. Uh, I know y'all will like that. But if you want additional information or if you want it changed for future updates, uh, please let us know. So, uh, tonight, like I said, it's going to be short and sweet. We really just want to go over I want to introduce, uh, the project manager, the senior project manager on on your project. We'll just go over some timelines. Um, and we'll do that on a monthly basis. And then a little, uh, uh, video uh that we put together for you guys to give a uh an update on on construction. and then we'll open up
to any questions and answers. Um, first of all, Ben Todd here is our senior project manager and um um he's been with us for a very long time. You got you got a great guy that you're working for and it's really funny. You had a cafeteria worker that nicknamed him Curly. So, don't think he's not taking any grief from our company on that deal. So, his nickname here is Curly. So, um, and then of course you y'all probably tired of me, Bill Savino on on development. So, on timelines, uh, as we go over it, uh, the LED lighting is is up and running. All the equipment was ordered on across the board was in September. Uh, we're projection, uh, projecting that our LED will be finished, uh, by the end of this year, the end
of December. We're already in all of the schools at this point in time. uh as uh most of its interior, not exterior, but as the the product comes in, they go back and and we'll knock it out. Uh at that point, roofing, junior high roofing is uh currently taking place. You'll see that in the video as well. Um we're hoping to be done there uh by the end of this year and then we'll move over and uh over to the high school at that point. Um on the HVAC, uh you're going to see all the y'all probably already seen the equipment has been arriving and it's in the parking lots. Uh but that's uh actually um going to be starting here this possibly this weekend. Uh depending we're waiting on one one more arrival of
some equipment. Uh but you may be seeing some action there in terms of getting going on that. Um and then on the same thing on the on the crawl space that that's some specialized equipment that's going to take a little bit longer to get started. And then um the building automation system will follow HVAC and um so we're we're still as we go through this on a monthly basis, we're on track. I'll give you an update if any if any of those things are sliding uh on the timeline um whether it's sooner or later. Uh, but I I would expect with Ben it's going to be sooner than later. So, um, as we uh Oh, now we're not going to the next page. There we go. So, this is a quick video. Um, and it's
going to show basically some some uh lighting, some before and after on the lighting. It's going to show the some roofing done at the junior high uh using a drone. And then you're going to see the equipment uh that has taken that has hit the site here. So, if you want to go ahead and start the [music] short and sweet, but that's all we have to show at this point. But we're moving. Uh it's going really well. And Ben has mentioned more than once your staff at at all the schools and administration have been super to work with, very cooperative and and uh so he wanted me to give a shout out to your staff as well. So uh at this point we'll open up to any any questions that y'all may have. >> Yeah.
I thank you, Bill, for that info in the in the video. Um, have you guys come across anything that maybe didn't see like a month ago? Like, oh my gosh, man. We we missed this or nothing's jumping out? >> No. No, sir. Not yet. >> And and and these guys, they do a real good job as as we're going through facilities. If there is something that's either out of the scope or or, you know, wasn't included that we saw needs to be addressed, then we'll bring it to your administration's attention. >> Okay. >> And then we'll address it. >> And I believe I might ask this question of Miss Pearson. Do we have any feedback from staff or teachers about lighting? I mean, that that's kind of a a big deal. At least to me,
it is. >> I know that we did when we were doing uh u Payton, y'all haven't met Payton yet, but whenever we go through um and we're taking shots of the video, uh we had many jokes that were saying it's brighter. That's for sure. It's brighter. So, uh there's been positive feedback on that. That is definitely brighter than what it was before. Yes, sir. >> And I think Go ahead, Bruce. Well, I wanted Bill to share because I think it's important because I did share with them that the board would like some like video testimony and they did try. Okay. But they're they're very shy c they're camera shy. The the board was like I mean the ones that said they were like we don't want to camera but they has been positive. I know
I mean >> you have been all over the district. Uh Todd, Mr. Todd, I mean do you want to just share some of the comments that have been made? Oh, tons of great feedback. Um, even from um, uh, students. >> Oh, awesome. Yes. Yes. They they I'd walk down the hall and they they see me doing this, I look like I'm lost. And I say, "Oh, we did lighting." It's like, "Oh, that's why it's so much better." I can actually see. Excellent. So, you can see from the videos that it's made a very big difference. >> And most of that lighting is is hallways. >> Are you in classrooms? Uh most of them that that has been implemented sir is classrooms and some hallways. Yes sir. Okay. All of the all of the where we
don't need lifts and and uh and any exterior we haven't we haven't touched anything that that higher ceilings. Got >> and uh any exterior yet. And I think once the exterior hits you're really going to see in the community that's what's very visible. And I think where was it at the someone someone brought it up at the intermediate I believe. >> Yeah. I noticed that the other night. That front porch is is very well lit up. Never been like that. It looks fantastic over there. Thank you guys. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Miss Gavada, have you had any comments that you know of any anyone shared anything? Awesome. Thank you, Miss Gavat. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> So, if there's anything that y'all wanted to add, if if you just share with Miss Pearson or
whatever in the future, but we'll just kind of be short and short and sweet and show progress as we go. >> Thank you. >> So, thank you all much. Appreciate it. >> Okay. Next item is Lonear Governance. Uh discussion and possible action of the board monitoring calendar. So, this is for uh the student outcome goals uh that were adopted by the board and the superintendent guard rails. And so, we uh put in each month what presentation and data would come forth. It's the recommendation of our governance coach for the um board goals and the go and the guard rails for the superintendent that we bring each one at least two times. And so we have met that metric on this calendar. And then for the leadership evaluations um the recommendation is that the board evaluate
self-evaluate quarterly. And so the board is very much on track. you've done it twice now already this year >> and that the [clears throat] the board's um desire was to do a midyear evaluation for the superintendent and then the summitive at the end of the year so those are both notated here in January and then in June and then the trainings uh our governance code recommendation was very much what we have been doing this last year which was uh holding our team of eight training and then doing our governance board workshop also quarterly. And then also what was added in was the new board member uh training. And so that is in here too. We do have a an election in November of 2026. So this is this calendar does stay intact. If you'll notice
up on the upper right hand corner, it is for five years. Of course, the board could always bring it back if there was recommendations to, you know, edit or revise anything. And then the board also has on here the workshops that the board typically goes to get their training and those are are noted on here as well. And so the the recommendation is for the board to adopt the proposed Lonear governance and have any conversation on it. There's anything else y'all want to add? >> Is there any questions? >> No, ma'am. >> Do I have a motion? >> I'll make a motion to approve. >> I'll second. >> Motion made by uh Jeffrey Ortiz, seconded by uh Noi Zarate. Um, and this time if I'm going to when I ask all in favor if you
will when you say your I if you will raise your hand as well. All in favor? >> I any opposed? >> None. Motion carries. Item B, November 2025, uh, board goals and goal progress measures. >> Good evening, President Franco and board members, Mrs. Pearson. So I will be um presenting today on our goal four along with the accompanying um GPMS. Uh if at any point while I'm presenting if you have a question uh please let me know. We've also I want to thank you for the questions that were submitted prior um at the end of the slide deck. We did include a majority of those questions and we'll facilitate discussion around those as well. So, as you may recall from our previous meetings, our goal for is to increase the percentage of seventh grade students
who score meets or above from 39% in June 2024 to 46% in June 2029. So, what you'll see um below the goal is the subpops of students which also have uh there are also goals for five years for each of our subpopuls of students. When we are looking at this goal, we are currently not on track our using our BOI projection from for STAR from our MAP test, we are at 35% meets at this point. Please recall that the assessment the BOI assessment was taken on the window was midepptember. So about 3 weeks worth of instruction for this current school year was when this assessment was given. I also want to make the point that while that 35% isn't quite at that 43% that is our goal for the end of the school year. Um
last year at this point in time from beginning to end of year the growth was 16 percentage points. So while the BOI assessment is not indicative of this we do have faith that the MOI um the midyear assessment will will uh showcase improved outcomes here. So just to kind of ground us in this percentile, I will draw our attention to the last bullet point on the right corner of the screen. So the 60th percentile, why it matters is it can be used to track progress over time, evaluate instructional effectiveness, and guide resource allocation. And fortunately, this is a metric that we use K through 12 um in reading, math, and science for selected grade levels as well. So along with our goal, we have our goal progress measures. And what you can see in this
table is that we have our GPM, which we'll go through, I'll go through each of those in the uh following slides, but we have annual targets for each GPM along with annual targets for each of the subops. So the first GPM um is emphasizing seventh grade students achieving the 60th percentile um as I mentioned. So an increase in the 60th percentile for all subops of students. The GPM 4.2 is percentage of seventh grade students in general education math non-advanced achieving meets grade level which is indicated from that projected proficiency on the MAP test. So what is interesting and unique about the data that I present today for specifically seventh grade students is that our seventh grade students test uh they take two separate exams. So when they take the MAP test, it's all seventh grade.
The test is math six plus, but when they take the STAR test at the end of the year, the advanced students take the eighth grade star and the seventh grade general ed students take the seventh grade star. That we were purposeful in crafting the GPMs to ensure that all students were being um looked at and all students have high expectations. The last GPM 4.3 is looking at our sixth grade students. So increasing um our sixth grade student outcomes at the 60th percentile. And this is just a graph to showcase that goal four and our goals for the next up to 2030. So the first GPM 4.1 is looking at our seventh grade students. So the same uh group from the first slide. So when we look at our students and how they're um what percentage
are in the 60th percentile, we are on track. So our goal for end of year this year was 37% and at BOY we are at 39% of our students are at or above that 60th percentile. When another point um to highlight is that our subops um two out of the three are meeting that goal and the third our special education students are three percentage points off. Um so we do have faith that by end of year that that percentage will will increase. When we look at GPM 4.2 uh this goal is currently in progress. So the goal by end of year is 11% of students of seventh grade general education students um will show uh to be projected to meet grade level. So currently at our BOI again with three weeks of instruction u our
students came in at 7% uh meets for this particular uh GPM. Uh so you'll see however that uh our subops fortunately two out of the three did already uh surpass their targets for our ecoomically disadvantaged uh group 8% compared to the 6% target and for special education group uh 6% compared to that 5%. Our last GPM is focusing on our sixth grade students and they're uh achieving the 60th percentile. So our goal for our sixth grade group was 24% by EOI by end of year. So at BOI at this beginning of year assessment, our students did come in at 30% um at that 60th percentile or above. And when you look at our subops, our subops are fortunately also uh achieving higher than expected uh which is which is really great. So I mentioned that
uh we looked at questions submitted uh and I'd like to start and you know attempt to answer these as as fully as I can and by all means if there are still questions after my response uh please don't hesitate to ask for clarity. So question one, based on the map math data comparing last year to this year, what changes do we see in the percentage of seventh grade students reaching the 60th percentile? And what does that suggest about the level of rigor students are experiencing? So at this point uh last year, our students, our seventh grade students were at 29%. Compared to the 38. So we do see an increase in outcomes at the beginning of year and we attribute that um when they took it last year at BOI that was their first time
taking the test ever in the history of MAP. That was the first time that we um incorporated this exam districtwide. So we we um attribute the growth to that familiarity with the assessment. Um, aside from that familiarity that they've gained by taking the assessment, um, going this is their second year, we also made the shift as a district based on our teacher feedback and based on outsourcing and communicating with other districts about their practices, we allowed for accessibility features to match star protocols. So last year there were no calculators on the map assessment. this year for grade levels that use a calculator during STAR, they will use it during the MAP assessment as well. Anything for clarification on question one? For question two, based on the MAP performance data in the report, what does the
current student performance tell us about where students are struggling the most and what we understand about the root causes of those struggles? Um, so I do want to mention that the we I've I've presented here uh many times about math data and systemically across the state um and across the district, we've seen that our math outcomes aren't where we want them to be and that's this is a statewide um this is currently a statewide issue. So in order to really facilitate and increase our outcomes um during this the research um is guiding us to follow um what TEA puts forth which we have mandated a K12 a Arby's um researchbased instructional strategies focus ensuring that our teachers are trained in these practices and not only that but that we are facilitating and our look fors
are really grounded in what best instruction um is looking like K12. Um so this is really ensuring that we are supporting all students aside from really ensuring that every student um is looked at at the individual standpoint. So our students have data trackers in which our teachers really disagregate that data and have a full picture of how the student is learning and growing in their classroom. Any questions for clarity on question two? Qu three, based on the map math data and the areas of strength and struggle shown in the report, what do we understand about the impact of instructional practices on student performance and what evidence is that understanding? Um, so we know uh that the most significant impact to student performance is effective teaching and tier one instruction. uh we have emphasized that as
a district from kindergarten through 12th grade with the practices that we're putting in place with the support of NIET uh National Institute of Excellence in Teaching. They are so committed. Uh Jessica Worthington uh has joined us. Jessica, you want to give a wave? Jessica's phenomenal. Um she's with us all the time and she coaches district leaders to teachers to paraprofessionals, anybody that requires support. um she really provides a wealth of knowledge and so a wealth in the systems that are proving these successful outcomes. So it is something um that we iterate and it's a cyclical refinement of practice for district leaders, campus administration, teachers and so forth. Any clarification on question three? Question number four are or have we looked at students who may have scored in the 50th or 60th percentile? kind of the
the the bubble kiddos is is kind of the term that that has been used in the past. Um this is my favorite question of the five. When the data is pulled, it's extracted by a student list. And so students listed uh from the lowest percentile to the highest percentile. And fortunately, uh we're able to even add historical star data to this and it really um supports the student data tracker. So every student uh we're we we very much know the history of every student and where they are. Um and then when it is at the content level, at the grade level um and the content specific, so sixth grade math for example, it's really looking at what foundational skills are missing in this group of kiddos um to ensure that we can get them to
meet grade level because that is the goal. And the last question, uh, question five, what practices or shifts do you believe had led to the progress from 21% to 30% in sixth grade math performance? Um, the sixth grade math team uh is really one to highlight. When Kotula came to visit us, I believe last week, they were selected to be the model for the cluster um protocol, which is our professional learning community, our PLC that's happening. they've really um taken their time and dedication to the content and to the curriculum. They've really um internalized to a point where they're very comfortable with it and they're really at the refining practice stages. Um they were a highlight for us as a district and they're doing a phenomenal job. And to kind of speak to the district-wide
um facilitation of these practices, the ILT, which is the instructional leadership team, begins at the campus administration level along with the curriculum specialists. Every week they are looking and cycling in data based on classroom observations based on what they're seeing um in the classroom and they are refining that practice that guides the cluster cycle. Then the cluster really builds off of that. So if student discourse is something that we noticed uh required more attention, we're able to weave that in and that's our next look for and and the the need really is shifted in real time. Any clarification on that question? So, regarding our inputs working well and those that need more attention, I really believe that I was able I hope I was able to um speak life into those inputs that are working
well, answering the questions that were submitted. Um so, a strong alignment between PLC and cluster. It is an iterative pro uh practice and one that we seek to refine weekly. Um learning targets has been a large push um and all of our teachers. Anytime you go into a classroom, you will see those learning targets and likely even hear our students verbalize those collaboration and shared planning structures. EL um is a new resource for for K through 8. 9 through 12 had it last year, but we've had a lot of positive back because from all the MAP data that I've shared with you, EXL has the student specific RIT score and designs a pathway based on where they are on that assessment and it will adjust to ensure um to get them to that grade level
goal. Improve student engagement, emphasis on the Arby's um intervention uh blocks. So within the classroom ensuring that there is time to intervene um with grade level tees and blocked classes. So currently our sixth um and our seventh grade group have about a 100 minutes in which they instruct um get to do their math instruction um and they've both really uh given us positive feedback on how they're able to use that time to the utmost. Uh regarding our inputs needing more attention um time for execution of initiatives. I mentioned a lot about all of the wonderful things that are happening but in order to reach that high expectation that we have it does take time um and refinement and strategic win-time scheduling. So uh intermediate has implemented a really really great structure when stands for what
I need. Um and based on the data that's coming through every six weeks and of course the historical data they really curate that time um to ensure that our students are getting um the most of what is necessary. So if it's math even our science and reading teachers are going through math at that time. So that's just an input that will require um on our side just a bit more refinement to ensure that students are in in the groups um to necessitate that and execute the the best instruction. >> Okay. All I have any questions for me? >> I don't have a question. I just I'm gonna make a comment. just want to say thank you for putting all this together and I want to thank the administrators and everybody involved in this. I excited
to see and I think we're heading in the right direction and just know that anything we can do to help reach those goals. Don't hesitate to reach out to Miss Pearson or ourselves and let's meet those goals. Thank you. >> Thank you so much, Mr. Ortiz. We appreciate that. You okay for questions, Jessica? >> She always has great answers. >> Yeah, you're you're the the lone member left here in the crowd. So, let's ask you some questions. >> So, a lot of good information. Uh kind of what Crystal said, you've seen it in other districts. You've been this I mean your experience, what are you seeing right now with this district and where do we need to improve? >> Yeah, >> just absolutely. Good evening, governing board. Thank you for um inviting me to come
to the board meeting today. Glad you're here. >> Yes. Thank you. So, I'm just very pleased overall with the progress. Kristen and I had a very long conversation this morning about just where you were at this time last year and where you are now and the implementation of the HQIM, that highly qualified instructional material that a couple of you have all been out to see in action. It's just going phenomenally. So the teachers are really capitalizing on that curriculum. They are engaging their kids in rigorous grade level instruction like not never before and the principles in the room can speak to that and it is just amazing to see the growth and the student outcomes that are coming from that. The leaders in this space definitely need a round of applause. They have been taking
on new learning and implementing ILTS at such a high level. This summer we took them through a deep training on how to run an effective ILT. That leadership team that is surrounded at their by them at their campus. It's not only the principal leading anymore. It's multiple people on the campus. And our goal is eventually to have teacher leaders in that ILT because their voice matters. Their voice back in the classroom and on the ILT is really what drives the system forward. But they've been able to have these aligned agendas that focus on that curriculum. And it is just amazing to see them come through um that learning. And then the coaches, which I don't see any here, our curriculum specialists, I just also want to give a nod to them. They are pulled in
so many different directions, but that is the heartbeat at what is happening on your school campuses. They are the ones driving those PLC's, those professional learning communities with your teachers and pushing that teacher practice forward. They're in the classrooms providing that feedback. And that also is a next step. Visibility matters at all levels. And so we've talked extensively from top down and down up. How are we visible in classrooms? How are we coaching and providing teachers ongoing feedback? Our even most veteran teachers need feedback. They're willing and able and wanting to learn and grow. And so we're continually challenging ourselves on how do we schedule our time and making sure that we are visible and then providing that very specific feedback. But just overall such phenomenal growth. We're really excited for the journey that we're
on and you have an amazing team here. Thank you to the board for supporting the implementation because that's why we're able to partner with you all on this journey. And so again, Miss Pearson, your vision behind this just excellent to see where you all are going. >> Great. >> It's exciting. >> And you and you hit on something and I'm the probably the broken record of this of this panel up here. The importance of teacher feedback and input to their principles. Amen. If there if our principles are not hearing from our teachers, whether it's good or bad or indifferent, agreed to disagree, they need to hear, okay, principal A, I need this in my classroom. Okay, principal B, I'm not hitting this target in my classroom. That is critical. That is critical. And I'm going
to keep saying it till, you know, I'm, like I said, I'm a broken record with that. And we can't get to where we need to get to if our teachers are not speaking up and sharing the good and the bad. >> Yes. >> You know, I I like that this that last slide you had up crystal inputs working well and then I saw inputs needing more attention. And I don't say it to be critical, but I are there more are there more things that need attention? You know, from like you said where we were a year ago, >> you know, are we on target? Are there more are there more things are that need attention that our teachers are sharing with our principles so we reach those goals? That's important in my mind. >> Yep.
And the number one thing right now is the coaching and feedback cycle. So we need to make sure that those are consistent and ongoing. I know the principles behind me are probably nodding their heads because that accountability piece with one principal today. I said every time I meet with you the very first question I'm going to ask you is how many walkthroughs were you in this week? >> Excellent. Excellent. And if that answer is zero, well then tomorrow our goal is one, right? [laughter] >> And as difficult as that is for principles to do, you know, with what >> with what we're asking of them and and Miss Pearson, >> uh that it needs to happen. They need to be in those classrooms. They need what's going on. They they need to see the feedback.
We need to help those teachers that are not hitting the targets and make sure that, you know, we're guiding them, show that we're supporting. And through that process, our leaders have um we've collaborated and we've uh adopted a strength-based feedback coaching cycle. >> Excellent. >> And so that has four steps. When we meet with a teacher and it's short meetings, it's 10 to 15 minutes. The first step is we point out a positive. Here's a reinforcement of something great I saw happen in your classroom. And then a refinement. Here's one thing that could have impact. Now, how do we do that? We add an action step. And then how do we ensure it happens? Our fourth step is follow up and follow through. And so that is the process in that 10 to 15 minutes.
Even the shortest coaching conversation can have impact. >> It's about evidence and impact in that next step. >> And Jessica, when you mean evidence too, it's data informed. >> Absolutely. >> Yeah. Because we all know that um change is hard and we've through our governance training know that adult mindsets can sometimes be the greatest barrier to student outcomes. Correct. So our board governance training reminds us to to stay very focused on student outcomes. Um because I know that for some teachers it's it is a it is changes challenging. So when we're asking them to have professional learning communities to review data exactly, >> some of them would rather not, you know, to be quite honest. Or when we're asking them to um, you know, be part of an instructional leadership team. And so, you know,
I think that we absolutely want adult feedback, but we also want to couple it with student outcomes because we want to move to an A district. And so we want to do something different to move us to an A district. Uh otherwise if we just want to make the adults happy that would be challenging to move to an a district. >> Our decisions need to be based on the kids and what evidence do we have that is moving our student achievement both growth and achievement in a forward direction. >> Um I just want to say that this whole process is really a team effort and when I say a team effort it's not just at a campus base. Um so Crystal provides a lot of support you know from with as far as data the
stat data points. Uh but just the other day I went to CSI and I did some NIT walkthroughs and we I took advantage and was able to see one of their cluster PLC's in action. And I want to say just being there, I left so excited because I really understood the changes that I needed to go back and do at uh the junior high as far I set up our cluster PLC's for us. Um so it's really a group effort. It's it's it's all of us working together. Um I many times I call Mr. Gandu and Mr. Gthu calls me and I'm going to tell you that Jessica huge support. We are not only uh coaching teachers when we're doing the walkthroughs and providing that feedback, but she's coaching me as an administrator, you know,
and that has been very beneficial to me because um I know exactly what I need to do. Chris described um the it is a cycle. The more I'm in the classroom, the more I see what I need to target in my ILT and then that drives our cluster PLC's. So I share that data with Dr. Dr. Gusman and we know exactly what we need to do um or the the topics that we need to talk about, what we need to discuss in our cluster PC's um and and then we re-evaluate that information. So, it has been a a cycle and we know what we need to target and it's little steps. We can't really go in there and try to change everything at one time. So, it's all about making small progress which essentially is
going to get us uh change that we want. Um, I'm going to tell you that just everybody in here has been phenomenal in in helping and working uh with us. Uh, I'm going to say that at junior high, it's it's been a little bit of a slower start because we have haven't had a curriculum specialist. The curriculum specialist is new to to her position. So, it's been kind of um, you know, learning the position. And then even me as an administrator, I met regularly. That's something that we did even last year. But the actual datadriven meetings is those are more intentional now. At the beginning of the year, I'm like, okay, we looked at map data. Uh, now what what are we going to do? But as I'm having as I'm doing walkthroughs and now
I know exactly what I'm going to talk about in my ILT. Um, Jessica has been so supportive. I'm going to tell you, Sunday I was at a roping. I was working on my ILT agenda and I sent her a message and she replied, you know, she's like 247. Anytime that that we support, she is very very helpful and I truly appreciate everybody's help. I we truly do appreciate the support that everybody is providing. >> Well, we certainly encourage you to relax on a weekend, but if you got to work, that's okay. But great information. I think maybe I asked the question Jessica um in comparison to other district you don't have to name other districts that you may that you've worked with where do you see us where do you see Cariso Springs CISD where
are we are we on target are we where where are we >> everyone's on their own journey and wherever you're at is okay >> okay >> as long as you're making growth >> great answer >> right and so I I don't get into the comparing districts but we have partnered with a local district Kula Yes, >> and Cula's been over here to see the great work and they had phenomenal things to say. They even their Dr. Ramos, their curriculum director said, "We would not have guessed you were in the first year of math implementation." And that was just a huge celebration because we say all the time, "Wow, this is going really well." But until you hear it from other people and same thing, we're able to go over there and information little tips and
tricks that they've brought back and started to implement here. So, excellent. I I think that you are in a place where you should be in a first year of implementation and in some pockets much further along than where you should be as well. >> But we're not leaving anyone behind. We're dragging everybody up with us. >> Thank you. >> Glad you were here. >> Thank you. >> I have a question Jessica. >> Oh boy. Oh question. >> I have a question if I may. Uh Miss Jessica or anybody that can answer it. I know we're hearing from coaches, we're hearing from principles, uh, directors are here, but I'm curious, how are the teachers doing? How are I know this is new? Like you said, and you said earlier, their voice matters. >> I'm curious, how
are they doing? How are they feeling? Uh, how are they moving with this? Are they getting uh enough time to understand, prepare, and move forward? >> What has anybody experienced any teacher opinion? How are they doing? I'm gonna pass that over to your administrators. >> Well, Miss Garcia's coming up. I would love to invite the third grade PLC to come to our December meeting. Um, that's about eight teachers. Is that right? And seven. And they're doing the reading and the math. So, their perspective would be just really phenomenal for the board to hear. >> Yes. Our our third grade team is implementing Blue Bonnet math and Blue Bonnet reading. So, they're doing double double what everybody else is doing. But at our campus, we have um 20 28 teachers that are currently using Blue Bonnet.
It was a challenge. Uh it was a challenge with time. So, we did have to change some master schedules. Um they get on Thursdays instead of just getting the 45m minute PLC, we get a back-to-back 45 minutes of internalization. So the first 45 minutes the teachers walk in they we have a timer set for them and they get that time to just look through blue bonnet. So all they're doing is they're taking notes. They're they're looking for materials that they need. They're just intern the lessons are there for them. They're internalizing. That's what we call internalizing. We have um for them, markers, everything that they need and sit in silence and those 45 minutes they just internalized because that was one of the things that we were hearing was that was a bit overwhelming for
them. It was a lot of a lot of planning, a lot of studying their lessons. So I think this helped them. Most of them say they can get through maybe two to three lessons uh if um if they just sit and and work with that. So that's what we gave them those 45 Then after they're done, the timer rings, then we go into the cluster meeting. We go into Right now, our focus is theation problem. It's kind of like the problem of the day. And you'd be surprised because it's the same problem and all seven teachers might teach it a different way. So, we went into um we videotaped other teachers. We've done modeling and discussed with all the grade levels how would you what would be the best strategy or what would be the
best approach to teaching this problem. So we look at Monday's problem. We meet on Thursday and we look at Monday and Tuesday's application problem. And we've had some amazing discussions there. But yes, they they they do feel it's it's a lot because it is a lot. Um we are looking at changing the master schedule so that we can give them those 90 minutes at least four days out of the week so that they can also catch up with their reading, their because at elementary one teacher will teach math, reading, science, social studies. so that that way they can have time to also prep for those other um lessons. But it's gotten a little bit better since we've implemented that 90-minute PLC. >> Well, Miss Campus coming up, I do want to share that TA actually
reached out and they're coming for a site visit because they heard implementation was strong here. So, we're really excited to host them on December 9th. Hi. And so for my campus, uh I know I I spoke with um Mrs. Garcia and uh she was telling me that she was giving her extra time to internalize. So that gave me an idea. I'm going to try to see how I can do it for my campus. I did reach out to uh the teachers or my GLC's and I asked them is who is good at looking at schedules making a schedule because our schedule is a little different than elementary and um so I did have we pulled committee teachers and then I also brought uh together my uh specialist teachers and I asked them are you guys
are on board this is what to do and they're like let's do it let's try to help them. So, we're in the process of trying to find time um extra time on top of their uh conference time to internalize a little more. And so, it is it is um it is a lot of work. You know, I've talked to them. We've had heart-to-heart conversations. I just want them to know that I'm there to help them. And um we're not perfect, but we're going to try to make it, you know, possible for them to have more time to to meet. I I have I asked each one of my departments uh when do you all we came up with a schedule for them to in internalize. So Mondays is the day that they're going they wanted
to internalize on their own. Um they're like I don't want to be bothered. I just I want to read through it a cold read. Uh Tuesdays is the day that they uh do check-ins with Jessica. And then Wednesdays is when we have our cluster meetings and so they're ready and and prepared. So that's the that's the plan that we have. So I'm still again still trying to find some extra time to give them the way Mrs. Garcia is doing with her teachers and they they I they all know that we're trying to look for time. So any other questions? >> Thank you. >> We are also um revamping master schedule for 2627. So while they're trying to find time now, we also when we know better, we do better. And we've got been able to
network with a lot of districts gotten some different samples on master schedule. So, we will be looking to improve and give teachers additional planning time >> and that's uh one of that is the struggle at junior high as well. Um, so our campus is a little different and unique as far as the master schedule and time. We're uh the only campus that has nine periods. And with that said, we dismiss almost about the same time as high school. We dismiss at 3:55. Um and so when we are doing our cluster PLC's that's taking up a teachers conference time their conference is already limited to 47 um minutes. Uh so every two weeks teachers are supposed to have 450 minutes of time and so that is one of the concerns but I do have a plan
that I'm going to share uh with Mrs. Pearson in regards to time and it might even help some of the other campuses as well. Um for as far as getting some of that time for the teachers um and you know and of course master schedule for next year. I know what I need to do next year to make sure that we're not in this predicament. Um but time is is what we are really really um needing and that that's where our struggle is right now. If you want, we can make a a a new schedule. 7:30 to 5. >> Just kidding. >> I'll just make it brief. >> Just kidding. >> Good evening everyone. >> There's never enough time in the day. [laughter] >> Yeah, there is. There never is. But, you know, going back
to uh what Mr. Mon was saying, you know, uh our teachers do get that input through uh our clusters and uh as Mr. um uras was saying our principles are doing a tremendous job uh with uh either blue bonnet implementation or cluster and ILT. So the the teachers uh they get their input from the teachers through clusters and then this filters back to the ILT and then the ILT besides reviewing the data looking at uh anecdotal um information including what teachers are are uh are saying and then they'll go back and revisit what what are going to be our goals for the next few weeks and then they'll they'll they'll make that as a decision at the ex with their ex with their leadership team and then it flows back to the clusters and then
that discussion occurs and then uh they'll implement it in the classroom. So, so that's one that's one avenue that we're using uh to make that teacher voice stronger because uh because it's important uh because the the teachers are the ones that are in the classroom uh day in and day out with our with our teachers. But like Mr. um Udas uh pointed out um it's important that our our administrators be in the classroom as much as possible because that's the only way you're going to get the temperature to see uh what the needs are, what's working and what's not so we can go ahead and pivot. And you can see uh from the from the growth pro growth progress measures that that uh we're going in the right direction. um even though our targets are
still there but uh we feel confident that we'll we'll be surpassing th those targets. And so one of one of the other things speaking with our uh technical advis uh assistant providers and then um the other uh districts that that we've visited is that our implementation of math is strong just because we we're actually doing planning and implementation and so we've been hearing a lot of positive because I've been surprised of of how what they were seeing in the classroom um uh because we're doing both uh implementation and planning and uh didn't feel that um maybe the teachers or the district uh would be able to accomplish that. It is something that we've been able to accomplish that but it's been a lot of work on our teachers but we've been uh providing as much
support as we can and as Miss Pearson was saying I did put this in my notes because I do meet with the with the with the principles for uh master scheduling. So now that what what is it that we know about blue bonnet is is including that time for internalization and for extended clusters. So that's what we're trying to see and make sure we're consistent with that coming next year uh in 206 and 27 school year. >> Thank you, Miss Pearson. I apologize for getting us off track here a little bit, but as a wise governance leader told us, if we're having these conversations, we're on the right track. Everything's important. Finance is important. New lighting, new roofs is important. If we're having these conversations that we're having today, we're definitely on track with regards
to academics. And you bring up a good point here and I'm going to kind of uh what Mr. Morona said and what you mentioned, TEA is coming in December. That might be an excellent um after they've visited share what they need to share. maybe either a special board meeting or or December agenda item where we hear from teachers and we hear what TEA had to say. Uh those are I mean those are excellent excellent conversations and excellent observations that they might make. So whether it's a special or or an agenda item, we certainly would love to hear it. >> I think it's like it was said their voice matters. How can we hear it? >> Amen. >> How can we hear it? might coincide with what TA shares. >> Thank you guys. >> Thank you.
And I just want to make one comment real quick. I'll keep it short. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody involved, all the leadership, everybody involved, teachers, everyone I because I personally going in to to see the walkthroughs at CSE and CSI, I was very impressed with what I saw. It's great seeing the students and the teachers engaged, fully engaged in their work. It's it's just very promising to see that just a few months in. So, I know going going forward as the as the year progresses, it's going to get, you know, even better. We're going it's just going to go up from here. And that's great to see. So, that that really kudos to all the teachers because I know they're putting in the work. It's a lot of hard work. And
just keep encouraging them, keep giving them positive feedback because it they need to hear that because I know they sometimes feel I'm sure they feel drained because it's it's it's a lot of hard work and it's just great to see. Thank you. We'll go on to uh superintendent guardrails and guardrail progress measures. The guardrail GPM 4.3 ongoing training and coaching support the eent tree. >> Okay. So this this guardwell is on the superintendent shall not allow campuses to lack a district aligned behavior framework with defined goals, replacement behaviors and mastery criteria ensuring consistent equitable support for student success. 4.3 is specifically on ongoing training and coaching support. to establish a campus-based emergent tree team that practices in two days of foundational training and engages in monthly coaching sessions to strengthen behavior intervention systems and staff
capacity progressing from zero trainings and coaching sessions in May of 2024 to full implementation by May of 2026. So this is a baseline year. This is a new initiative uh for us. The uh presentation is based off the October coaching session. That was an in-person session. Uh today, actually on November 18th, the district has participated in their third uh MTSS team training day. So, they had their third day. We had a a large group of uh teachers and administrators and counselors from every campus with Miss Christina Patron who's our coach for emergent tree. And so uh on the some of the celebrations as overall in the district, we do have the be safe, be respectful, and be responsible posters that are are across all four campuses. Um some of these you can see here some
of the posters that are that are here. Now for eent tree safety um the main the main objective is that just like we teach and have learning targets for reading, math, science, you know, theater arts, all of that that we also have learning instructional uh targets for behavior. So uh that was evident today when we started our training. Uh we were in the we were at the junior high. Thank you junior high for sponsoring uh the and and hosting the training. We were in a room that had the learning target. So that's how they started is like turn around and read the learning target. It was a theater arts and then we said just like we teach uh theater arts or math or art. We want to also help teach behavior. Does not mean we're
not going to have punitive. Obviously we all know we have chapter 37 and there's going to sometimes be punitive uh discipline. But overall, we want to teach students how to self self-regulate. And so we're teaching strategies across the board uh to our teachers. So the next slide shows uh some of the areas of focus for tier one. Now tier one is campuswide. Campuswide what we're trying to do with the skill building and the connections and the correction. U shows a percentage of where we are with those areas of current action. If we go to the next slide, it shows our overall progress as a district. So, I think this one speaks to our our guard rail for the superintendent because this is where we are at this as a district. Completed 64%, strong at 18%
and then limited at 18%. And then if you go on to the next slide, it shows some of the areas uh of where we've had the limited. Now, I will say that CSI on this date when we had our coaching visit in October, uh they did have an off day. We did go ahead and hold our coaching session, but since then they've had another coaching session. They had one on November 11th and as of to the november 11th, I just received the report today. They are on they are on target. So, that was a much better coaching session and they did show strong progress and they even had some areas that were completed. So, I would imagine with our next coaching report for the district, we'll see that CSI is on par with all the
other campuses. You can see that uh many of our campuses had some great things going on. I do want to share some of those if I can. Uh for elementary, some of the celebrations were that the entire team participated in the coaching. So, thank you, Miss Garcia. Kudos to Miss Garcia for making that happen for the entire team that were all teachers to be a part of the coaching session. They got to go into other classrooms and participate in the learning walks. Way to go, Miss Garcia. That is extremely impressive. Common area posters in all areas and classrooms. And it was observed that uh teachers were reviewing social stories to teach expectations to students. And then at our junior high or sorry, our high school, our high school, the core value posters were posted in
the classroom in common areas. The campus leadership team participated in the coaching session is working to working to ensure common understanding. During the observations in the classroom, students were observed using the core value language during classroom instructional time. So that was impressive. Way to go, high school. And again, this is baseline year one. So, u we're just looking right now for implementation and then we'll work towards um towards having those stronger practices in place. For the junior high, the campus team is dynamic, works well together. The PBIS team needs to discuss the campus plan. Common area posters in all hightra areas and core value posters are visible in most classrooms. So they also have a plan to um make sure that they get all classrooms the next time. And then for the latest session on
November 11th from CSI, uh Coach Mendoza explained to the class concept and process of acknowledgement systems praises occurring in some areas and the team is starting to meet informally to develop the feedback board plan. And so I know that Miss Stompa was going to work with the team to also set time. There's that time again to set some structured time for the MTSS team to meet regularly so that they can then present to the entire um campus. In talking with uh our principles and in the training today, I think what's been noted is the is the time that's needed. The the MTSS team has to meet regularly and they need to share what they're learning at this training because it's a trainer of trainers model. They have to share it with the rest of the
team. So we've talked about faculty meetings um you know uh implementing it during that time. I know that um the elementary today shared that they're kind of using at some of the time at the PLC clusters just a like 10 sometimes 10 or 15 minutes to share updates during that time. So we're still working through that on how can we get the training to the entire campus. Uh next slide. the recommended district actions uh for us again to support the MTSS team. So kind of what I talked about just now, you know, the meetings, setting a structure for that, uh for other teachers to know who the team is. So these are all goals that we're working towards integrating core value language into the district process. That was a lot of our coaching sessions this
last time was using the language so that our parents know the language. So that goes out in our print. Uh family newsletters from the campus for us to continuously be using the safe, be safe, be respectful, be responsible language and then the system approach integrate instructional approach mindset and that was a lot of the training today was on the mindset uh meeting and conversations use blogs, videos, campus shoutouts uh to just enhance that work. And so I heard from Christina that today was a very positive day, that it was a super successful and that there was a lot of work that was done by the team and a lot of plans that were done on how to go back and support the campus. Next screen, this was our looking ahead. Again, we had the one
training uh today. The next thing will be for us to um in the spring have a face toface shout out. So we'll have a report an end of year report kind of of of where we are. So we're working towards that in the next screen. Uh this was the training for today and so that's the training they had today and they had a great training and I think that's the last slide. Oh the universal screener. So we will be giving a universal screener. Those are the three date options. Um, and this is where the teachers will go through and they will rate each student on their behavior, high, medium, and low. And so, this kind of gives us a a global overview of our tier one, tier two, and tier three support for students behavior.
So, as you know, MTSS multi-tered uh support system. [clears throat] It's for behavior and academics. So, this part of it with emergency, it helps us meet the mark for the behavior. For the academics, obviously, we're working on that through um the teams and then deciding if they're tier one, tier, tier two, or tier three and what type of interventions they need academically. This will help us determine the behavior kids that need support behaviorally. So, we'll be able to identify those students. Next slide. That was a program review. that's what I was telling you will be happening in March and that will be in person and all the principles will come over with their teams and they will present. So that will be really exciting to kind of do an overview for the year and I
think that might be the last oh the coaching tool they learned today. So, this is a a classroom coaching tool that they can use while they go into classrooms to do fidelity checks on campus and to be able to support teachers with like glows and grows on behavior implementation on the strategies that they've learned, which is reach and respond and acknowledgement to corrections and brag boards. So, that's our brag board. And so, again, they're learning very specific strategies that they'll then go teach their teachers and then they use this coaching tool to assist them. Uh right now the team that's on the teachers that are on the MTSS team they are piloting the brag board. The reason for that is because we want them to have some success when they then share it with the
rest of the teachers so they can share some personal stories of how it's working for them in the classroom. Next slide. Uh this was just a coaching session. They always end on how they can partner with us and help us um be more valuable to us. And really our partnership with Emergent Tree has been very positive. They've been supporting us through this. Event like nice box set of guidelines. We have to create it ourselves. It requires a lot of brain work. And so really it's very much coaching where they kind of uh teach us the science of behavior, the instructional approach to behavior, but then we have to create the plan ourselves, which is what each campus is doing. They're creating their own campus plan themselves. Right now they're working towards how do we um
recognize and acknowledge our our students and how do we have campuswide celebrations. So that's been a big emphasis on what they've been working on. I think that might be the last slide. Any questions? >> That one, the slide with the uh with the posters, are those teacher teacher input or does it does this allow for student input as well? >> Yes, both. So, both are encouraged. I know that a lot of the posters that were made up front uh the adults made them and they Yeah, but some of those you see uh those were made with students. It's adult it's adults uh writing but they were made with the students. >> The respect and safety kind of jumped out at me. >> Those are all student made with the teacher. And then some of the
other matrixes that we have like for uh general areas like for the restrooms, cafeteria, hallways, those were kind of made with the by the staff. Yes, sir. CISD because that's our starting point, right? So, we do want to get aligned K12 because we want the language to be um predictable for all of our students because we know that that's where we're going to get the best outcomes if all of our students know how to be safe, respectful, and responsible. And so we're very happy that uh we're having such great success at the elementary, which is our starting point. >> Can you Yeah, use the mic. Hello. Hello. Okay. Um, yes, at the beginning of the year, we we all met and uh first the team did they came up with the posters of course like
the ones that are, you know, really colorful and stuff and then we presented it to all our teachers. we had a staff meeting and then um so they knew the plan when when the kids come in and so they each took time at the end of the day which is during our MTSS uh time at the end of the day for them and they they so as we were going through um we were listening for that language and so we're pushing a lot for them to use that language throughout the day and we have to catch ourselves too sometimes when a child does something instead of saying No, it's like was that responsible? Was that uh respectful behavior? Were you being safe? And so it's trying to just Thank you. So uh board last month
and this month Dr. Dubalva and Mr. Talamantes have presented the tool for the report. So you've had two months now to look at the report. That's the one with the graph, the line, and the star. So if the board approves of that model of the way the report looks, you do have to have action to to approve the the report. I'll turn it back over to our president. >> Yes. Item C, discussion and possible action for the board of trustees to consider approval of the Lonear governance board monitoring report for November 2025. >> President Franco, I'll make the motion to approve item C, discussion and possible action to consider approval of Lonear Governance Board monitoring report for November 2025. Second. >> We have a motion by Michael Orgas, seconded by U. Jeffrey Ortiz to uh
approve the Lonear Governance Board Monitoring Report for November 202. All in favor? Show hands. >> I >> opposed. None. Motion carries. Thank you. Okay. Next item of superintendent briefing. >> Okay. So, this is a fun time when I get to brag on our district. All of our uh teachers, staff, central office, everybody came together to uh host the district homecoming parade. We have alumni that come into town. It was a great success. It was a beautiful parade. Very well done by our entire team. technology, maintenance, our police department. I mean, you name it, everybody had a hand in it. Mr. Roland Alvarez, Roxy Mononttoya, uh, thank you very much for your support to make this a very successful event. Next slide. Our Wildcat family meals again, uh, every one of our leaders brings a tremendous
amount to our teams. And I would like to give a recognition to Miss Anna Diaz who said, "Miss Pearson, we we need to get together and let's talk about this." We held an emergency meeting and from that came our uh temporary food pantry and our Wildcat family meals. We had our dimmit education foundation that is sponsoring it. We had our third meal this evening and we served 630 meals. very very proud of our child nutrition department and uh we identified a need as a district. Thank you school board for your support school board because obviously we're paying some overtime right so the district is also putting their part into this but our families uh needed this support through this government shutdown. It wasn't just impacting families that received SNAP benefit but it was impacting families
that were not getting a paycheck. And so thank you so much uh to everyone. It was a successful month of meals and uh we have concluded we were just doing this month people have received back everybody's back at work and they're they're receiving their SNAP benefits. So you know I I think we will continue the food pantry through December since we have that sponsored but as far as the meals we concluded our last meal tonight. Thank you so much to everybody that was involved with making that such a great success. >> Next slide. Miss Pearson, to add to that, was it uh please remind me, did did the city who donated funds? >> Yes, the city donated 2500 for our food pantry. >> Shout out to them as well for their Yes, >> absolutely. Yes,
we were able to receive that check uh last week. So, thank you >> Mr. Partnership. >> Yes, Mr. Zarate was there and Mrs. Vanco is a great partnership. The city's amazing to support us. We love the partnership. We have another partnership coming up with them. Uh on December 11th, we're going to host a movie at the park with the city and the hospital. We love our partnerships. It makes us so much stronger. Red Ribbon Week was a great success. Our counselors take that on and uh our chief of police and our police department went around and presented at the schools as long as well as our local law enforcement uh our sheriff's department. Uh so we're very grateful for a successful Red Ribbon Week and all the work that goes into it. Thank you. Special
shout out to our counselors, uh, Blue Bonnet math curriculum collaboration visit. I know Miss Jessica was here. She shared a little bit on that. We had a very successful visit with Cthula. We did have a teacher panel. Shout out to our teachers. Uh, we had teachers who spoke on the curriculum uh, with Cthula and they told them the good, the bad, and the ugly. You they wanted honest truth. So they they told them all the challenges but also all the rewards that they're seeing and the progress they're seeing with the students. So great success from that. Next slide. Dimmit regional hospital trunk or treat uh was a great success. We partnered with uh TWWS. We were able to get some pictures out from our new schools. We were able to talk to many of our
families about the new schools. Overwhelmingly a great excitement of our new schools. Uh we didn't have a great response on their survey, but the response we did have uh was all over 4%, four stars on what they saw. They said it looks fantastic. They can't wait to see the new schools. Everything looks so nice. Our kids are going to love uh the playgrounds and courtyards. We love the openness, airy, modern vibe of the design. Uh for elementary, we would like for it to be more colorful for our young kids. And so we are working with the team uh focus groups on we have not gotten to those parts where we're like picking out colors on all that. We've done some very preliminary look at that, but we will have more of that after we get
past 100% uh construction design documents that hopefully will come to the board in um January. Veterans Day was a great success. Thank you, Mr. Moronis, for joining us. We had a great uh guest speaker. Our junior high and our high school students were amazing. All of our other students watched it streaming online from the comfort of their classroom. And from what I heard, they very much enjoyed it. The teachers shared that they enjoyed it. The students shared that they enjoyed it. Uh we got to highlight many of our students who got to sing uh trumpet uh the taps. Ray Gavvada and Omar on the trumpet. So, it was a wonderful, beautiful event honoring our veterans. We're very proud of that initiative. And then this is one that I am extremely extremely proud of. Uh, so
this is our elementary is at 1.37. And look at our prek. Our prek is up 3.39. uh 39% a lot attributed to some really amazing initiatives and recognitions and celebrations that our principles with their teacher leaders have put together. Our intermediates up 2.13%. I mean these numbers don't lie. I it is an incredible incredible work that the campuses are doing. And we also are partnering with uh dimmit education foundation who spons us once we once we start construction and I think that is all as far as the construction update. Any questions? No questions. We will go on to to financial briefing. the general fund financial statement, child nutrition financial statement, debt service fund financial statement, and construction financial statement. >> Yes, ma'am. Can you hear me? Good. I'm very excited. Everything that is going on
is just so positive, and I'm going to share some positive comments about the finances as well. Um, so for the general fund, we have um for an overview, as of October 31, we're 16% of the way uh through the year. Our revenues year-to- date collected are 63 million. I'm sorry, I'm going through your our fund balances. So, for fiscal year 2024, we ended 20 uh 24,45453. For fiscal year 25, which is still un unudited figures, but at least as of where we are now, our year million. And remember this is something that we had planned and we had expected. Uh leaving our in but we're still doing well. Uh revenue of 8.7 million expenses through October 31 are 3.6 million leaving us uh revenue ahead of where we um revenues over expenses of 5 million.
So when we roll our ending audited fund balance into last year's unodudited figure and current year, we're at 24.6 million at this point as as of right now. In food service, uh I'll just go over the new year. Uh in 2526 through October, uh we've collected 439,433. The expenses are 330,295 being above and ahead at 109,138. And our debt service uh debt service again I'll just kind of go over the new the new year the 2526. Our collections so far are 1.6 million. No expenses yet until December. And so uh our projected ending balance right now at this point is 4.8 8 million for INS. On the next page 46, you'll see our general fund. And here you can see our original budget, revised budget, you know, where we are in collections for the current
month. And then the column for year-to- date. The year-to- date is September and October. I won't go through these in detail, but you can see then uh here our local, state, and federal revenues. You know, again, uh to recap the 8.7 million in revenue and then on the appropriations, you can see them by function code. Uh for example, function 11 is instruction, 12 is library, and so on and so forth. And then you can uh carry that on down to the bottom where you'll see our expenses at 3.6 million at this point. Okay. on the next page page uh for food service I I already kind of went through their um their finances. So you can see their local is at 19,564 that includes alocart in fact uh a little bit later on down you'll
see a budget amendment where we're requesting an amendment they're $7,000 ahead of their collections for alakart for this year. So, I was like, "Wow, did I mean great that it's that it's more than what we expected this far at this point." On the next page is the um debt service fund, which I've already reviewed with you. Uh the overview, which is uh the local tax collections at 1.6 million and no expenses at this point. Okay. On the construction, I have a recap page for the 2526 school year. Currently uh what we've collected and this includes interest. Our current month collections uh for the interest is 324,783. Our year-to- date actual for the two months is 677,989. Uh our expenses through uh for September and October together, of course, year to date is 1.2 million. Okay.
Now, I do want to point out that uh out of the construction fund currently, this does include uh part of the maintenance tax note project. We did an initial payment already. And so, you'll see the uh that detail in uh your board update. And then as a recap for uh construction through October 2025, I'm kind of giving you a year-to- date recap so you can see where we were yearbyear. So at the end of the fiscal year uh we had a fund balance of 96,184582. At the end of fiscal year 2025, August 31 of 2025 unudited. Obviously we're ongoing the audit right now. Uh with revenues and expenses, we end up still ahead by 153,156, leaving us a projected balance of 96.3 million. And then for fiscal year 2526, the year that we're in now,
which is what I just uh recapped a few minutes a minute ago, uh the 677,000 versus the 1.2. So overall, when you add it all together, roll it all forward, we're at roughly about 95.8. Okay, thank you. Uh my good news was that um our our audit is ongoing and um I just want to thank Miss Pearson and all of the staff, the directors, the administrative team, the business office staff. I mean, everybody has been phenomenal in working with us. And right now, we are about a month ahead of schedule where we were a year ago. Last year on the last day of work on Christmas, we had a couple of non-compliance issues that I had to deal with and we were all leaving on Christmas vacation and we had to work through it and
right now we're already past that point and we are in compliance. That's one. The second thing I want to share with you is that um I did report this to the superintendent. We fully spent two grants completely which is the 211 year five which is the title one and the specialed 224 grant. I haven't given you that report Miss Pearson. I gave it to you verbally, but anyways, I thought that was really great news. We have a really great team. I think we're moving along. I hear all the excitement that everybody's doing, but I feel very proud about our team and I know that we're making changes as well. And everybody has been great. Yes, thank you. >> You're welcome. Next item. First reading of the TASBY initiated local policy update 126. Thank you, Madam
President, members of the board, Miss Pearson. Good evening. Today's agenda includes the first reading of local policy update 126 following an extensive legislative sess session that produced more than [clears throat] 200 new laws a lot impacting Texas public schools. TASBY completed a comprehensive review to align school districts policies with current legal requirements. This update includes 28 local policies for the board's review which will return for consideration and possible approval at the December meeting. Today is um the first reading of these of this uh update. As always, local policies remain fully within the board's authority and this update represents the most extensive policy release TASBY has ever issued um twice the size of the previous legislative update. So this reflects the significant volume of statutory changes and the substantial work required to ensure districts have clear
compliant policy guidelines. Any questions? Can I uh elaborate on any of the 28 changes that are or policy changes that are being recommended by TASBY? >> What's the most one that stood out the most? >> There are Yes. Good. Good. And let me say this, one that stood out today that I saw in action, thank you, Miss Mrs. Franco, was the requirement that the the board record by show of hands for votes. That is a requirement. It is in policy update 126. And I'm happy to see that you that the board has has uh implemented and is acting upon that that requirement. A couple of things that stand out are the um stronger requirements for reporting employee misconduct. That's in the series D. All the D changes have to do with employee misconduct um which
aligns with Senate Bill 571. The reduced the another one that's stood out to me was the reduced deadline for reporting child abuse. Previously, um, professionals had a 48 hour time frame or window to report and now that has changed to 24 hours. So, that's a significant update. Let's see what else can I. And I would like to also share and and thanks that we work in cooperation with Miss Pearson and our technology department. we are up to uh to date and uh compliant with policies with the legislative requirement for for grievances. You've got uh three levels of grievances that can be uh submitted to the school district as a employee under um and as a as a parent student and then as a public member of the as a member of the public. So that
has already been updated. Our website does reflect the updates. So those are those three stood out to me. >> Yes, sir. And I'm happy to report that we are already compliant with those. There are some things we do have to address since it's a numerous amount of of changes and updates. Uh we do have um we do we do have some time to get them going, but we do have to make sure that we are uh in compliance. Thank you again. These will be presented to you in the at the December regular board meeting for your uh consideration for approval. >> Thank you. >> I did want to note to the board that there was several that were in the B the board governance and those were um those are also aligned to the board
operating procedure. So you'll see where it changed to like how many days ahead you have to submit items and all of that. And so that's also in the board operating procedure. >> Thank you. >> Next item, approval of consent agenda items. You have any questions? I'd like to make sure anything legal. Can you tell us a little bit about final product? I know Mr. >> I know M Pearson wants to add anything. I know that u in the meeting we have with Mr. Cruz, I know he said that he was anything that was added was anything that was new from the update from the summer. Correct. And he was just updating that to make sure that all that the legal anything of those changes were in our in our uh operating procedures. >> Thank you.
I think that's what we had discussed in the meeting, right? Anybody have any other questions or anything you want to add? M. >> Yes, >> I do. Miss Pearson, if I may go over the budget amendments. >> Okay. So, um, budget amendment 2608 is a is a just an internal from one function to another. I keep hearing this word is VA and I go over it with the auditors. subscriptionbased information technology applications. These are the assets that that get uh the lease agreements that are over a year. Anyways, we're correcting this one because uh this particular internally so we are not requesting any additional information I mean any additional funds but uh during our audit through Texas Department of Agriculture there were some the stipens [clears throat] are not allowed allowed to be charged to
109101. So, we're realigning it to 19935. On budget amendment 2610, this one I wanted you to take make special note. This is regarding the maintenance tax note. This is to appropriately receive the the net proceeds of 5 million of which um 89,000 is debt service fees, right, for our financial advisor. And also the uh the actual cash will be 4.9 million which we should be receiving soon. And that'll be for uh payment of uh that part of the E3. Right. So I wanted to bring that to your point. The only thing that I recommend as a change and Miss Pearson, I had not covered this with you. I apologize, but instead of a 71, I I recommend that we approve it to function 73. That is an oversight on on our part. And that's the
only change that I have um for the budget amendments. So when you approve it, please approve it with that change on uh the budget amendment for 2611 that is that is the one that I mentioned earlier for food service for the $7,000 increase in their alocart sales that they've uh collected and we also projected uh for the rest of the year Any more questions for MS? Okay. Thank you, Miss. >> You're welcome. >> Can I just stop? Miss Pearson was going to explain a little bit more on the on the board operating procedures that you had a question on last week. So in the operating procedures on every page you'll either see the board that's attached to it or the education code. So most of this is just to keep the board in compant. So
most of it is Texas education code which is state law or it is also I will also make a notion that you all will be working on the governance policies with Dr. Ramos and so obviously if there's any changes that are made there then we can always check if we need to update anything at that time as well. I'm gonna and perhaps you said this because I was I was reading at the same time and Mr. Moronis to to kind of um point out here on page 253 the second paragraph on top under preface there's some good language right there. If there is a conflict or inconsistency between these procedures and adopted board policy, every effort will be made to revise board policy and or board operating procedures to reflect the intent of the board.
At no time are these procedures intended to override board policy or state or federal law. That's some good language right there. Any other questions? >> Do I have a motion? Motion made by Noi, seconded by Noi Zarate to approve the consent agenda items and with a change on the >> Budget amendment presented by Miss Diaz. All in favor? Show hands. >> I opposed. None. Motion carries. >> Next item, discussion and possible action items. Uh a consider approval of resolution number 2025-20 to cast votes and submit the official ballot for the election of the DIT Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. And I believe for this one we have the we had the we have the nomination of members that I'll go ahead you go ahead that I'll go ahead and list that we will submit
for our ballot. Wilbur, Aldoria, Oscar Nois. >> Any discussion? Motion. >> Madam President, >> before this is submitted, can we just make sure that they correct the spelling of my name? >> Okay. From >> Yes. the 3,69 That sounds great. Do I have a motion on the approval of these of these votes? Motion made by Jeff Or seconded by Wilbur to approve our our submission of names as our official candidates for the election of the dimmit central appraisal district board of directors. All in favor? Show hands. >> I opposed to none. Motion carries. Thank you. Next item. Uh, pursuant to section 551.074 of the Texas government code, I'm going to move agenda item regarding appointment of committee members to hear grievances under closed session.
