All right, y'all ready to get rolling? I call this meeting of the Dweyville Independence School District Board of Trustees to order. Let the record show that a quorum of board members is present, that this meeting has due has been due to be recalled, and the notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Bank, Texas government code chapter 5.1. Please be advised that this meeting is being recorded and will be available for public access. Thank you. >> All right. So just pray for blessings on us. Thank you for our graduates at this time of year into their life and guide them next. All right. So, information are actually public comment. We have any public comment >> everybody signed up. All right. Moving right along. Informational items. Uh public comment. possible

grant applications. >> No, sir. >> Yep. All right. Uh safety audit. >> All right. This is the safety audit that uh we were hoping to have last month, but we've got it now. Um you should have a copy at um your spot for you printed out. U going to go through some highlights. um from it. Um couple of things that we need to improve on. We have um silent panic alarm technology, but in the G to Hawkenbach turnover, we haven't really kept up with training with the campuses know how to use it. Um obviously with four days left, we're not going to get that in and done. Um Oenbach is on a call tomorrow. Um, we're looking at maybe switching companies, one that does some extra things for the same price, um, that the secondary

campus could really use um, and also is maybe a little more user friendly for some of our subs. Um, but either way, we have it, but we got to get some training on it to get up there. Um, we have a couple of doors at the front of each school, but they have the protective film on it, but they don't have the caulking inside. That was an oversight by that company. Um Jana and I both reach out to them. They're supposed to be coming out the summer to get it on because that was in the original work that was supposed to be done. They just missed it. Um some other it's two two uh panels um at the front of each school. So four total panels, but not too bad overall. Um one of the

things I did want to highlight looking for the page. He didn't number this. Okay. So >> it's the fifth page in it's mark number 10 at the it's at the bottom of one um it's underneath some pictures. Um I just thought I'd highlight this because the guy that does this study goes in and out of lots of schools. He's done one at other schools I've worked for and he is I can promise you he does not leave this comment every time. Uh students were respectful and well behaved always reflected school pride and featured student work. >> Very well. >> That was exciting to see um here because he was here during the school day in the hallway during transitions at both campuses and so um that was good to see. Um, one of the things

on the negative side, uh, we're missing some signs at the front of both campuses. Um, as far as 30 out 6, 30 signs for firearms. Um, we are ordering those. Um, but we're going ahead and order them for um, nine locations. Um, that way we cover stadiums and game entrances. Um, maintenance farm just in case. Um, it just covers us all around. So, those will be coming in the summer. And then, um, you get into the pigraphs on the back. Um, this was a staff survey that happened. Um, it went out to, um, all of our staff. We had 77 respondents. I feel like it's a good number. Sorry, it's tiny. Um, it's hard to read, but uh, a couple things there. U,, people care for each other at this district. Um 36 and a2%

strongly agree. 49.4% agree. Um just a few that don't agree with that. Um I thought that was pretty pretty telling that our staff kind of takes care of each other, looks out for each other. Um you I know we've got some people with family illnesses this year, but our teachers and all step up, cover classes, make sure that they can be with the family. Um I thought that uh was spoke well. And uh down on the right hand column of that staff survey, um I thought this one was really spoke really well of our principles. Uh the rules and expectations are clear and known to me. It was 52% strongly agree and 48% agree. So 100% agree in some way, shape or form. And I think that speaks well of where we're headed as far

as campus expectations and all. So there's a couple of highlights. So, who's going to be responsible for I notice they they put little things this needs to be done this you know the high school gym needs to label the handicap area within the stand. So, who's responsible for these? >> It it's split between Sarah and maint um she's she's compiling all of this into a spreadsheet of what needs to be done by when. Um and then some things we'll have to reach out to somebody to come in and help paint correctly. Some of them we have the templates for. Um some of them are just signs that need to be hung. >> Yes, ma'am. it out and make sure. >> Yes. Yeah. So, like the the signs for the school, Sarah's ordering to make sure

they got the right language. When they come in, we'll get with Pam and maintenance guys and we'll get them home, you know, that way. They're busy organizing a spreadsheet of what happens when make sure we get compliance on that. >> Yes. U Mr. Box's going to go work on that one. been a science department head before and has actually done the chemical training. So, he's going to go over to the lab this summer and get it set right and then show our teachers what they need to do that way. >> Who are Mr. Beer and then >> Was it just they didn't have the train or what was necessary? >> Yes, it was not double lock. It was locked the first time but not locked behind that second cabinet at all. And then some of

the chemicals were ones they're not supposed to be. >> So I guess it's probably used for labels. >> Patty Taylor, you know, I don't know. Tell me if I'm right or wrong or different. I know been doing that for three years now. And then is it longer than that? >> Okay. Longer than that. Yeah. So multiple years, right? We have >> is she certified? >> No. >> So I guess my thing with this to have something in place. I don't know if it already is or not. So that anybody who is working with those chemicals either has taken the appropriate safety classification so you don't have that. That's why that's why they do the walkroughs and all this to see are we missing something that we should that's a I'm not saying >> to make

sure that they're people who are working. >> And the the next thing is I think at the very beginning said that was doing this or doing the windows and everything. Correct. >> But they're fully aware. >> I would like Do we have an online version where I can get a little bit of sugar. >> No, but I can email you postbody. >> I'm good with that. I do want I do want to go through it. >> Yeah, I can't see it. >> All right, moving right along. District fundraiser highlights. Track and field concessions for elementary workers. Every one of those kids had $20 and used it. >> Absolutely. >> Except for mine because whoever was working >> and I walked over there and they were like, "Yeah, we just let >> it be too bad."

Still, that was a hard stop for a moment, especially that little one. I don't want special treatment, especially like that. >> We're gonna let Kinsey's kids do it, too. But we stopped. She told us absolutely. >> So, they had a good time. And after the meeting, we're going to run over there and do some runs down the >> slide. Oh, they're bringing them right now. >> They were working on that. still get to go to ahead. >> Go ahead. >> So, board reporting, superintendent reporting. >> I've got nothing special tonight. Sorry. Was there anything outstanding at all that you can recall on? Uh, lastformational Danny M. more test testimeament trust balance balance is standing at $57,325.98 um which will be using some of that in the coming weeks with scholarships that are going out this

year's recipients that is where we're at the scholarship for that All right. We are at action. >> And with that, I don't know if we ever put anybody else's name on there besides Luke. >> Did that change or is he the only one on that? He's the only one on there to represent the the board >> because >> well the thing about Luke is it's hard for him to get in. He has to sign the withdrawal. >> So I did I called to to start the ball to see if we could add someone else and um >> yeah and you probably can't because it's going to go by the >> the documents >> and it's probably or anybody else. But >> but you know, as soon as you can get a withdrawal slip from there

and have Luke sign it, >> okay? >> Because that's what usually helped me up. I usually I printed those checks every year for him. But um but that's usually what helps us up is we can't print a check without that form with it. It won't the machine won't let you, >> right? >> And and get him to sign by and sign that form. I think time. I brought it up here. >> Okay. So, just call get one, get him. Got >> goes into the go and get. >> Okay, perfect. Thank you for telling me that. >> So, can we have a backup? Should we have a backup or can we just >> I would have to go back in and look at the documents on that. I can't do anymore. But I think at one

point I I did look because it was an issue and I did the way the documents are set up, the way the harduks had that >> that trust set up. It's the board president. >> I think it went from the um high school principal and then it got switched to the board president. >> Yeah. >> Now, I did start digging into if uh and I need to call and ask because I thought about this after the fact. The way it got moved from the principal to the board president, I think was by a board action and the family. So, I started trying to to to see what our options were, but I don't have to dig very far into it. >> This is Michelle Manning, you can print you those documents. >> Okay. >> So,

if somebody will just go in there and tell her we need to know what we have to do to add someone or put us a second person on there or something. >> Okay. >> Acting acting board president. >> Right. Right. And I have some of the documents. I don't know if it's all of them, but I I think we have in the room originals and then when it got switched to Luke, but um I don't know. I'm going to look through and then I'll call the bank and see if they move forward. >> Okay. So, first action item, discuss and take possible action to approve monthly bills, board reports, and utilities. >> Make a motion we discuss, take possible action to approve monthly bills, board reports, and utilities. I'll second questions easier. Yeah. >> Um

I will just say in general though Miss Brenda is doing them where they annotate the ones that are left blank. Um those are the ones that are um mostly trips. Um they're the restaurant fees where there's not a reason code in um but that that's generally what they are I think except for the Home Depot one and that was um that was a machine to fix the junk before track. We got bought two reminds that by the track now but I'll forget. All right. And so did we >> all those vote now. >> All right. So, next action item discuss take possible action to approve monthly board meeting. >> I move the discussion take possible action to approve monthly second. comments. All those in favor passes and that's discussed. take possible action uh to approve

purchases over 10,000 cafeteria capital purchase and workers compensation insurance self insurance >> I'm sorry skipping back >> discuss take possible action to approve donations to do independent school district >> I'll make the motion to discuss and take possible action to approve donations to Uh, we have a $400 donation from Ashley Stanley for the freshman class. >> So, starting the freshman class, is it this year's freshman class or the freshman? This year's freshman. >> All right. All those in favor? Now, next up, discuss take possible action to approve purchases over 10,000 doment capital purchase and then workers compensation insurance. >> Do I have a motion? discuss and take possible action to approve purchases over $10,000. First would be cafeteria capital purchase. Second would be workers compensation insurance with DPS tax >> cafeteria. It is a $20,250

purchase. It is removing and replacing condensing unit for the cooler and freezer in the high school cafeteria. Um these are the big walk in um ones. We've had one that's been right on the borderline of not keeping things cool enough and this is just getting the work done. Get it back to where we don't have to worry about it every day. Am I making stuff up in my mind again? >> I don't think it was a freezer but I think it was one of our cooling units for the building. >> Yeah. >> All those in favor. >> We're going to do both together. >> Okay. >> So, what's the next? >> Okay. The next one is um work worker's compensation. Uh our annual premium is comp. It's going down 4500. Not sure what J pulled

off there, but from the statement I have looks like it's going down. Yeah, it's the right way to help us. That's all we need. >> So, any questions, comments, concern? >> All those in favor? Next up, discuss take possible action to approve the campus improvement plans and the district improvement plan. >> I'll make the motion to discuss possible action to approve the campus improvement plan and the district improvement plan. Second. >> All right. I screwed up uh back when I presented these in December. I forgot to have y'all vote on them and we went to put something in for title one compliance and they needed the minutes where we had approved them and we went Oops. Fortunately, the kids are not out of school yet. >> So, that is my bad. But we do need

the vote so we can put the minutes in that checklist. >> Yep. And we have not changed anything on it since then, but um >> we just needed to vote on it last time and I forgot to put it this time. >> Okay. >> All right. Any questions, concerns, comments? All those in favor. Oh, very discuss and take possible action to declare a surplus inventory by category and authorize the superintendent or designate to dispose of such property in accordance with board policy local uh CTE athletics band cafeteria transportation maintenance technology DHS >> okay so >> I'll make the motion to discuss possible action to declare a surplus inventory by category and authorized superintendent or designate to dispose of such property in accordance with board policies CI local CTE athletics band cafeteria transportation maintenance technology DHS

dees and the administr so there is a list of what we have now um it is broken into categories and sorry the category tabs did not The first page is athletics. The back of that first page is band. Um, third page there is uh cafeteria. Fourth page is transportation. Fifth page is um maintenance. Let's see. Next one, two, three pages are all technology issues. U the blank page is the high school that did not have anything at this point in time. U next one is dees. And then the last sorry the next to last page is um admin stuff that's just out in old storage. And then the final back page there is CTE, what is currently in the shop. Um, if you'll notice, there's some prices that say bid. That is because those are

items that current market value is greater than 500. So, they'll be going through a concealed bid process. Um the one um caveat that I'd like to put out there, there's a couple of these items in band and uh athletics that before we go to just a general garage sale type setting, we would like to list on DHSCA, TMEA, so that if they can be used by another school that can make use of it, they go there first before just being garage. So um I know coach had somebody calling about the the possibility of the jug machine, not even knowing that we were doing this, just trying to find one. Um, and Miss Anderson has had a smaller school than us reach out about the timing because they have none. And so, um, if we're good

with that, we'd like to list them there first. And if we don't sell them there, they'll go to the garage sale. >> And if they don't get sold, >> we got to get it. So who can I buy from this like us as a board member wants something here we can buy or family member or bid? >> Um my understanding is that once it goes to bed it is anybody in the community can send in a seal bid and then the same thing >> at the garage as long as it's during the post hours. >> And when will the open? Um the plan is to if if it's through the night, the plan is to announce it the Tuesday after Memorial. Let everybody get done with graduation. >> Kind of get past that and then

we'll announce it Tuesday after graduation. Um and then the the sell off today. I've got to get together on the calendar for a date that works, but it'll be posted for several weeks before >> school, >> lots of places, but we plan on paper posting down at the post office. We'll put it out Facebook. >> So the bid are we doing any kind of minimal bid for any of the cheaper the the minimum for everything except for overall the playground equipment that we're just getting rid of scrap is going to be that was kind of the cut point. >> So are we are we letting people know that >> except the old And so it doesn't feel like we had the touchless refrigerated compartment salad for long, did we? >> Um, or is that something

different? >> No, that one has not been there for long. Um, I'll be honest, that one was put on here on the chance that it does not work. Um, Rachel has h has or just have >> Did they come out or they coming out again? >> She's had one. She's had a lot of problems with it. >> I think she was given one more try to get it working and it doesn't >> she losing money. It's not right. Any other questions? Comments? All those in >> favor? >> Yes. >> I do have Oh, I know. One thing I want to point out on this just so that nobody said it say out loud under band on the back of the first page there's a line there says instruments being nonfunctioning is not coming to go

through our instruments until May 22 and so some things that there are two base that are not functioning but they say they're disable and I will have listed specifically um but we don't know yet it sounds like a small need or can we donate to this. I mean, we're talking about >> Yeah. I mean, you know, two, three, four, $500. But you have to remember that >> director. >> So all those in favor. >> Moving right along. We have discussed and take possible action to approve the Danny Memorial Scholarship recipient. >> Um, historically this I know that this not been voted on. I wanted it put somewhere in here since Luke is the trustee who represents the board. I thought it was a good idea that people can see what we're doing, who's getting it,

and it's reflected by the board. Does that make sense to you all? >> Okay. Um, this year's recipients were Jackson Sloan and any questions, concerns, comments? All those in favor? Um, I will say on that I I don't think we the stipulation because I I read this thing a long time ago when I first uh first started doing it. >> Um, I don't think it requires that >> specificational and then rule of thumb is make it action. action information system but moving forward I will make it >> right >> that makes sense >> because we don't really know >> that Let's go. Let's go.
