and to the lord under god indivisible with liberty and justice um spotlight board members at this time i would like to ask our executive director for human resources ashley brown to come up to the podium for a special introduction good evening superintendent gallagher board of trustees thank you for this time this evening today we're super excited to shine the superintendent's spotlight on our brand new principal at prestwick elementary miss jamie allen who's here in the audience with us today come on up jamie um so a little bit of information about jamie jamie has an extensive and impressive resume as an educator in the state of texas and beyond um she has spent time as a principal in plano isd 11 years prior to her joining the little elm family before her time as principal she

was also an assistant principal in plano isd for five years and prior to that she had experience as a literacy specialist and a teacher in plano isd she has she hails from illinois and is a texan by adoption and we're glad that she's here on a personal level miss allen has a spouse her husband randy who i believe is in the audience today a little wave there she additionally has two children that she's super proud of first ella who is 16 years old hi ella and then her son zane who is 12 years old they're students in prosper isd um the favorite thing that jamie likes to do in her spare time is to attend her children's soccer games she loves to work out she loves to read in this new role of press wig

principles she's looking most most looking forward to building strong relationships with her staff and her students a little known fact about miss allen is that she played volleyball in college and she attended college at quincy university in illinois um when asked why little elm isd why is this your professional home now she said she was looking for a smaller district with a more family feel and she's already figured out in just a week a little over a week on the job that she's definitely in the right place so without further ado i'd like to introduce you to our new prestwick elementary principal miss jamie allen good evening i just want to say how excited i am to be um at prestwick and little elm isd um i i really was looking for a smaller district

with a real family feel and i did start on monday and um i can already tell that i i landed in the right place so thank you [Applause] and jamie i'll tell you you don't have to stay for the whole board meeting yeah no you're good thank you and thank you nice to meet y'all thank you all for being here you just start with your name and address hello my name is jared heath i live at 2612 peach drive in little elm i have four children uh two are currently enrolled and uh waiting for the other two dear heavens to enroll um i i wanted to come today to uh speak actually about my opposition to ethnic studies being introduced into little elm school district algebra chemistry physiology these can be taught with truly minimal

bias art literature and history certainly opportunity to introduce more biased ethnic studies however especially as a stepping stone to critical race theory i do not believe can be taught without bias uh even considering simply the basis of it um you know the basis of it being that that our our race somehow is a core factor of our being uh any more than the our eye color might be the core factor of our being how could a white person then teach about ethnic studies or anybody of any race teach about ethnic studies without therefore that implicit bias um concerning um i think about it is again as a stepping stone to critical race theory um my concern is that we are teaching our children to be different rather than to celebrate diversity that we are teaching

our children guilt and blame rather than forgiveness and unity we're teaching our children that the way you look is more important than the choices you make or that because some people have failed to live up to the ideals of this nation that our nation must have failed rather than those individuals having failed um and that that gets very very close to eliminating personal responsibility this notion of he made me do it now and we must not raise our children to believe in such notions personal responsibility is absolutely key to everything that we do marxism hates personal responsibility marxists want the body politic to make choices for the individual and marxists clearly state that socialism is a stepping stone to communism uh why would we bring up uh marxism at this point well a critical race

theory is authored and promoted by self-described marxists and um marxism as the foundation of communism and socialism is at the core of the most atrocious government crimes against the citizenry now is that going too far um well i think not i think we need to pull on the red thread and see how far any of this goes which i think is at the the core of why people are interested in ethnic studies and critical race there he wants to make sure that we are not promoting a future that's going to do harm to anybody and you know i think that we need to pull a little harder on this thread of uh ethnic studies so uh really quickly problems again with ethnic studies uh it promotes othering and promoting racial divide it teaches hate and

shame for people who look differently um and honestly you can't improve that which you hate uh when's the last time we all looked in the mirror and saw love handles that we wanted to get rid of that we were embarrassed by we hid them how about the garage you want to clear out no you don't go into that garage you hate it or how about the marriage that might bring someone no joy is that something you're going to improve we cannot teach our children to hate and to be ashamed of who they are who anybody else is we need to make sure that what we're doing is always based on true principles that lead to freedom for all thank you who would like i believe so i'm just here uh curtis quinnis 228 brookdale drive

the wonderful little elm texas uh reason being here i just wanted to come out and go on the record to offer you guys a hand of appreciation a hand of friendship a hand of partnership and just let you guys know uh on behalf of myself town of little lamb whatever you guys need uh we're here for you it's been a long time coming but now we're in the spot where we can take uh we can take advantage of the opportunities that we have and show little am that we truly are one community and i just wanted to come out and say thank you guys i'm here for you so whatever you need just let me know thank you awesome mr scene um tony's saying uh 2513 hammock lake drive little lymph texas um teaching is

very very important to me i came from india where teaching is like literally like god's that's basically saying teachers roles are very very difficult and code basically proved that how difficult for staff teachers stupid and gallagher and votes how difficult it is to meet the needs of kids teachers and the community and stuff so it was very very challenging times now what i always like try to do when i become a council member i always want to make sure i work with you guys see how we can do better on a new leadership we have more opportunities and stuff so i'm hoping we can partner together more often we can meet and talk more see how things happening because as town is growing school board school have to grow too so one of the couple

of things i want to do so we can do better and i'm you know shakable ideas where i have my mind first thing is like hopefully we can do either annually or biannually meetings where school board still spring ended with council and the staff we can meet and talk about it what's going on and how we can work together second thing is and it's fun to collaborate together for bring it fund-entered fun in it i want to have like a kind of challenge bring either a big volleyball or dan blackwood says she said i thought dodgeball was about rangers but okay something collaborative together where we can generate fun from a lillam school activities or something like sports or something so we can come together and do that so thank you again once once again

for all the great job you guys do trust me last year was challenging it shows how difficult board job is to take care of the deep students kids and parents and stuff for that so thank you once again for amazing job you did now we have legal leadership so we have new opportunities so hopefully we can work together so thank you once again so hopefully all right so continue on with the report to the superintendent yes uh first let me say mr mayor you guys are welcome to stay for the whole board meeting you don't need to but you're welcome too all right reports of the superintendent so at this time president montemayor and board members i would like to ask dr cindy mecca to come to the podium for an update on district goals

oh i'm sorry i skipped one our c l update thank you thank you we will do the district goals next so um we are here for our monthly curriculum and learning update um sorry i wasn't here in june for the board meeting i took a much needed vacation with my family but i did want to update you on what we are doing for the 21 22 school years and the preparations that we have underway our plan is to return to normal as much as return to normal i'm sorry um the monitors are not on here is it on here it may be a power issue i don't know if that's i just noticed none of our monitors are working
