I call this meeting of the Mesquite Independent School District Board of Trustees to order that the record send out a quorum of board members as present at this meeting has been duly called, and that notice of this meeting has been posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act government Code 551. At this point, we are going to consider one item today, and the item is to approve resolution to nominate as our superintendent of the year for the Texas Association of School Boards. Dr. Fields? Yes. I'd like to ask Miss Sabreana Smith to come on up and tell us what we have before you trustees. I have, thank you. Dr. Fields, President Carbo and trustees, I appreciate having the opportunity to be here this morning with all of you, and present a resolution to be
signed, to accompany a nomination of our superintendent, Dr. Ángel Rivera, for the Region X Superintendent of the Year. I think we all share the opinion of his leadership and, outstanding vision for this district and our my team, our team and on our cabinet and speak for the entire staff are honored to be a part of putting that nomination forward, which requires a resolution signed from all of you. So thank you. And the resolution reads Mesquite ISD and strike board on this date. Thursday, April 16th. The resolved to nominate Dr. Ángel Rivera, Superintendent of Schools, for his exemplary and visionary leadership towards improving student informed, performance in our schools. Board members have any comments? I'm just going to make the motion, Mr. President. I'd like to move that. We approve the resolution, to, endorse and supports
the nomination of Dr. Rivera as superintendent. Year for region ten. And then the second. I'll have a pen somewhere. Yes, I got it. Yeah. Thank you. Before I forget. Right. Can we do that by acclamation? It's a vote of the vote. Of the vote? Yes. It could do by acclamation. If you want. I do want to say, though, I'm really happy about this nomination. We all know everything that we have been going through, and he's been leading this district in a proper fashion and has done a lot for us. He's, very caring about our our kids, the children of Mesquite ISD. And they and the staff and, I think this is commendable. So I could only wish him the best with the domination. I think it's a well-deserved nomination for the process. As you said,
he's got exceptional leadership. He's, always innovative in his thinking, working with staff. They're trying to create the pathways we need for all of our students to have an, some pathway of some sort to be successful when they leave this, district and to continue on in their lives and their careers. Plus, when you if you watch him at different events with the kids, you can see how passionate he is about each and every one of those kids, how proud he is, the comments that he makes about them, I just think that he represents our district in such a positive light. I know that there's other districts that come here to find out what we're doing because of him and the leadership in his team and, and this board. And so they're always looking to see, how
are you doing this? How do you do that? They all share information that he takes. It runs with it, brings it to us, and we all have our discussions with him about it. But I think it's well-deserved. And, hopefully that he can move forward from Region X to the state level. Okay. Being there none, then I'll take, all those in favor, please indicate by saying aye. Opposed? Same sign. Ayes have it. Motion carries. Thank you very much, board. Thank you for coming so early. And, yes, I'd like to thank Sabreana. I'd like to thank you and your staff and all the others that have contributed putting this package together. I know it's, it's not an easy task. There's a lot of information, a lot of time spent on it. We really appreciate what you've done,
so thank you. Sabreana Okay. With that, we are adjourned.
