And I'd like to say uh Marley's a senior. As a sophomore, she was sixth place at state. As a junior, she was third place at state. And this year, she is our state champion. The best the best in the state. Then we have coach Ornelis, our head coach. Coach Basham and Coach Maddox are our assistant coaches. [groaning] Thank you.

018State swimming qualifiers from Eaten High School. We have Gabby Agader and Carson Davis. And they are both here with their head coach, Coach Donaldson. Then finally representing Byron Nelson Ascll we had Edmund Drigy who was sixth place at the state UIL swim meet >> and his coach Coach Swanberg is here. Okay. Good evening, President Murphy, Dr. FA, and members of the board. It's my honor to help help recognize several deserving individuals this evening. First, I would like to recognize our volunteer of the month for February from Seven Hills Elementary, Brianda Jasso. She I don't think could make it tonight. So her principal Kim Blackburn is going to take her certificate for her. Um Miss Blackburn said, "Our mission at Seven Hills states, "Together we will accomplish greatness. Our volunteers are evidence of our mission and

019action. Miss Jaso supports us weekly through Tuesday Thursday volunteer program, has taken on several major projects, and is always willing to step in wherever help is needed. Her positive attitude, reliability, and servant heart truly embodies what it's meant to be part of the Wolf Pack. Thank you, Miss Jasso, for your time, energy, and heart. Congratulations to her. Next is an extremely talented group of educators near and dear to my heart, our librarians. The group of educators are tasked with creating an environment where all students feel welcome and seen, as well as nurturing a love of reading for our students. We are so excited to celebrate the winners of this year's librarian awards. First, our digital innovator award went to Sarah Jones from Justin Elementary. Next is our community connection award which went to Jessica Albus

020from Daniel Elementary. Although she couldn't be here, our creative space award went to Britney Rzma from Lake View Elementary. Our literacy advocate award went to Megan Batson from Wilson Middle School. And last but not least, she couldn't be here, but our mentor librarian went to Natalie Span from Lance Elementary. [sighs] Thank you ladies for all of your continued hard work and dedication to our district. >> [groaning] >> Last, I would like to recognize our two district bookmark winners. These two young ladies took the theme, reading is sweet, to another level. Their designs were outstanding and so creative. You each have a bookmark on your desk, and we have extras in the back for anybody who would like one. Our middle school bookmark winner couldn't be here tonight, but her name is Briana Hang from Worthington

021Middle School. Our elementary bookmark winner is Adeline Mailing from Cindera Ranch Elementary. So cute. Her bookmark was beautiful and so creative. Great job. [sighs] >> Thank you to all of our amazing winners. Next up, we'll recognize one of our teachers who went above and beyond to support students in extracurricular activities. UIL recently recognized Steel Early College High School's Amberly Tanner for her commitment to student achievement and extracurricular excellence. The UIL named her one of just 15 sponsor excellence award recipients for 2025 as selected by a panel of judges representing academics, athletics, and music. And to put that in perspective, there's somewhere around 2,000 high schools in the state of Texas. There's tons of academic sponsors, athletic sponsors, fine arts sponsors. So, you're talking about somewhere around 5,000 people. She's one of just 15. The award

022was created to recognize sponsors who empower students to develop and refine their talents to the highest degree possible within the education system. Miss Tanner has coached UIL pros, poetry, debate, uh, speaking, and Congress since 2001, while also leading students in current issues, journalism, accounting, and social studies. She has also directed and adjudicated one act play for many years, and she has served for more than nine years as a UI academic coordinator. So, now we'll recognize Mrs. Tanner. Got it. Awesome. Thank you. All right, for our final recognition this evening, we'll recognize our reindeer romp sponsors. The reindeer romps, a tradition that's taken place in Northwest ISTD for 18 years, benefiting our PE programs. This year, the annual onem fund run and 5K combined race included 2,421 participants and it raised 12,15 for our PE programs.

023So before we take a photo with that check, we'd also like to recognize each of our sponsors individually. And I'll just call out the ones who are here. And if I miss anyone, please come up. We have Airark [groaning] Yeah. And if you want to stay up here, I'll keep reading. Next, we have Fieldhouse Fitness Center. >> [sighs] >> Next we have Maritzki Alliance. and I believe finally we have Therapy Partners of North Texas. [sighs] We'll get one more after this with school winner. Okay. [sighs] You want to stick around? We'll get the elementary winner. No. Do you want to introduce them or do you want me to? >> No. All right. All right. Finally, we will recognize our uh school with the largest participation in the reindeer romp. That is Hasllett Elementary School. They

024had 457 participants, which is more than half their campus, which is a ton. So, here today we have Principal Busby and Paige Fitzgerald. And that concludes our recognitions. Okay, we will resume um the agenda at the uh public testimony comment on agenda and non-aggenda items and there are none tonight. So we will move to item seven which is the consent agenda. Madam President, >> Mr. Schlutoter ask, is there any agenda item that someone would like to pull off to discuss? >> Seeing none, I move that we approve the consent agenda as submitted. >> Second. >> I have a motion by Mr. Schlutoter and a second by Dr. Roush to approve the consent agenda as submitted. And for everyone's reference tonight, we will be using raising our hand and testing out a new system as well,

025but the official vote is by hand tonight. All in favor? Okay, show of hands one more time, please. I missed them. Sorry, Mr. Schlutoter. 70. Thank you, board. I appreciate it. We're testing out something new, so it's a little bit I don't know. It's a learning curve, right? Okay, we'll move to um item eight, which is consider any item removed from consent, and there are none. So we will move to nine which is our discussion action agenda for the evening. The first item on the agenda is the naming of the principal for Davis High School. >> Yes ma'am. Administration would like to recommend Ron Meyers as principal of Davis High School. >> Madam President, >> Mrs. Cops. >> I'd like to move that we name Ron Myers as the principal of Davis High School. >>

026Second. I have a motion by Mrs. Cop and a second by Mrs. Hatfield to name Ron Meyers as principal of Davis High School. All in favor? 70. We will verify with the online voting. Perfect. 70. Thank you, board. We are excited to welcome Mr. or Mr. Ron Myers back into our into our district. Okay, we'll move to agenda item B, which is naming of executive director of student services. administration would like to recommend Natalie Childish as the executive director of student services. >> Madame President, >> Mr. Daring, >> make a motion to name Natalie Childers as the executive director of student services. >> Second. I have a motion by Mr. Daring and a second by Mrs. Cop to name Natalie Childress as executive director of student services. All in favor 70. Awesome. Thank you board.

027That passes seven to zero. Okay, we will now move to item C, which is the naming of the executive director of special education. >> Madame President, administration would like to recommend Chris Kelly as the executive director of special education. >> Madame President, Mrs. Hatfield, >> I make the motion to name Chris Kelly as executive director of special education. Second. I have a motion by Mrs. Hatfield and a second by Mrs. Cobb to name Chris Kelly as executive director of special education. All in favor? That's a 70. Perfect. 70. Thank you, board. Okay, we will move now to item D, which is the annual review and revisions of the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees Standards of Professional Practice. >> Yes, ma'am. Over the last couple of cycles, we've had quite a few changes to our operating

028procedures, just updates really. Um, we did not have any updates to recommend for this cycle. So, we're presenting the operating procedures as they currently exist um for the board's consideration for our annual approval. Madame President, >> Dr. Roush, >> I would like to motion to approve the Northwest ISD Board of Trustee Standards of Professional Practice as recommended by the administration. >> Second. >> I have a motion by Dr. Roush and a second by Mr. Schlutoter to approve the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees Standards of Professional Practice as recommended by the administration. All in favor? a 70. Thank you. Thank you, board 70. That passes. Okay, we will move to item E, which is consider and possibly nominate a candidate for the Denton Central Appraisal District Board of Directors to fill a vacancy. Yes, ma'am. We

029had uh someone that we had nominated previously passed away um which created this vacancy. Our condolences to their family. Um at this time, we've done some some research and haven't found anyone um that we would recommend that the board consider. Um so, uh if the board does not have anyone that they'd like to nominate uh for this vacancy, uh then we'll just pull this item. >> Yes, ma'am. Actually, you won't have to. >> As far as the voting goes, yeah, there's nothing you'll need to do on this one if we pull the item. >> We'll have a button for that in the future. >> Did you want to say something? >> Do we have to pull Do we have to vote to pull it or anything? >> No, I don't think so. I think we

030just don't take action on it this evening. >> Okay. We will not take action on this agenda item this evening. Uh that will conclude our discussion and action agenda for this evening and we will move right into reports which the first report will be career and technical education midyear report. Kelly Henderson good evening board president Murphy and Dr. FA, thank you for the ability to come and share some of the great work that CTE has done so far this year. This is by far our favorite report because it's all the good stuff um that has happened up to now and even showcases a little bit to come. So, first off, for the second year in a row, we have received the CTE District of Distinction Award. This is for our leadership, financial responsibility, and having

031innovative programs. All of the following slides you're going to see are players and parts that make up this cat district of distinction. So, all of the great things that we do here and offerings that we have. So, currently we have 720 practicum interns for this year. We have three Alliance Texas student influencers who received a $5,000 scholarship this year from Hillwood and Alliance Texas. All three of those were actually from our business academy for being top student influencers in our Alliance area. We hosted a huge cent fall forum here at Admin where we brought in 80 other Texas CTE administrators and taught workshops and shared best practices. Our National Technical Honor Society has 374 seniors this year and that is an increase from 314 last year. And then we are offering something really new and

032exciting this year on May 18th over at the McCra Center. We will be hosting our first career expo. So, this is bringing in a lot of our area businesses to offer jobs to our juniors and seniors, both supporting our career prep programs, internships, and even our seniors who are graduating. Inside our a sciences programs, we had the Sunny Nance Stock Show, which had 200 entries and raised over $20,000 for student scholarships. We saw 2300 Northwest ISD third graders out at Kellyox A Center, which is always a fun event and grows every year. At our Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, many of y'all saw the great winnings that we had um from that event. Some of our biggest ones were Taylor Wadell from Justin Elementary, received first place in the fancy poultry Mediterranean class. Cole

033Bolton, a student from Eaton High School, received reserve champion for his a mechanics class for stationary smokers. Inside our business programs, we have 23 students from Eaton going to our national summit, which will be in New York in April. We have more than we've ever had before of DECA students advancing from all three of our high school campuses for the first time, which is 74 total students that competed at state and 15 are making it to internationals. We have one student from Steel Early College High School who is already qualified for the Moss National Competition which is a Microsoft office um competition where they compete against the entire nation in their performance in Microsoft. And then Career Prep is a program that y'all may not hear a lot of, but it is a huge group

034of our students. So, we have over 350 students and that means that all of these kids are out working every day on early release. What is neat is the state changed career prep to where now it counts, some of it counts for um CCMR completion. So, we are grabbing a population of students and making sure that they are CCMR ready with IBC's and workplace learning. And that's over 350 kids districtwide. and our culinary academy over at Byron. Our students are competing and doing really great things. They won the dream team award which is second place at the South Region Culinary Star Competition. They got a really special invitation this year from Middle Innovation Kitchens in Dallas. And that was an invitation where our juniors and seniors went out and assisted with a huge special event

035to where they got to learn under six masters certified chefs. They also have Texas Chefs Association Culinary Salon Competition where they won second place. They have 100% of their IBC's attained this year, including 100% of juniors who have now passed their certified fundamentals cook ACF competition or certification. And I will tell you that is not an easy one to get. It takes a lot of hours and a lot of time. In teaching and training, we continue to grow our own. We have almost a hundred freshmen who went out and helped with Northwest Reeds at three of our elementary campuses. We have 28 of our students who are advancing to Taffy Nationals in June. And our students had a special opportunity this year to go to the Fort Worth Museum School and learn from educators there.

036Kind of broadening the horizon of education outside of K12 and even how K12 can feed into um other museum experiences. And then we have our early learning program. This is for the little bitties, so 0 to 4. What is really cool about this program is we have partnered with Campfire of Fort Worth and we are part of their pre-EP apprenticeship program. So what that means is it's helping our kids get enough hours to get their CDA credential, which takes 600 hours to attain. And we have 10 students as a part of this program. Our STEM Academy continues to do great things, too. They are hosting a huge DFW STEM Alliance Metroplex Engineering Challenge um this spring. It's actually going to be hosted here at NISD on May 1st. So, come and attend. We are competing

037in our first electric car competition. We hosted our annual women in STEM event which I know many of you have attended where a hundred females in the STEM academy got to work with guest speakers learning all about things from civil engineering to architecture and interior design and they are currently competing for some really neat internships. We have students with Bell and with Techron right now and we are also in the middle of a competitive process to get some placements with Loheed Martin as well. Our programming and software development students participated in the Loheed Martin Code Quest competition. We don't have those results yet, but we assume they took away some big awards. And then we also have partnered with TCC's math department chair where they are helping to program in some curriculum on AI and

038cyber security for our software programming students. So just continuing to grow those skills. Our newest academy is the construction academy. This program is just in its inaugural stages, but doing great things. We have seen growth in our enrollment numbers for next year. They completed recently this dog house buildoff, which was a fun way for kids just to get their hands on and start to build small projects as freshmen. They also have partnered with Texas Construction School, which is helping with curriculum for our sophomore level um courses, and they are going to attend the 2026 DFW Design Build competition at Dallas College in April. Our cosmetology academy has 100% enrollment. As y'all know, we're bursting at the seams even though we got a brand new salon. Um they also are already at 100% certification attainment so

039far this year which is huge considering the hours that go into those um certifications for a cosmetologist. It is a new gorgeous facility. They are doing wonderful in their barbering certifications. If y'all have not had the chance to see their RISE student partnership, it is so special where our RISE students come over and partake in the learning at our cosmetology salons. And then the Northwest High School student that y'all heard tonight that got their associates degree actually also is a cosmetology student. So that is a big undertaking if you know how much of their schedule goes to cosmetology. So just a big win there of we offer lots of opportunities here and kids can do many different things. Our biomedical sciences academy this year was a showcase for excellence site which means it is the

040top of the top in the PLTW world which is a very high caliber program. Not only did they get deemed a showcase of excellence, but they hosted a huge event where they had administrators from all over the southern US there to learn about PLTW and how our biomedical biomedical academy programs um that curriculum and we were just once again a best practice for lots to learn from. We also have 28 students advancing to state in HOSA. We have 190 CCMA interns that have completed over 1,600 hours in our elementary and middle school nurse offices. And we have 33 EMT interns who have obtained over 1,700 hours of clinical rotations. Those rotations are 12-hour shifts riding out with um mostly fire departments in our area and also Texas Health Alliance. So you see 33 with 1700.

041Those are some very dedicated kids. Our aviation academy has participated in the AVR competition now for about four years. This year they actually got third in the entire nation. That is extremely difficult and shows a um skill level of robotics and UAV that is unprecedented at the high school level. They also hosted two of these tournaments. So, we brought the AVR tournaments to Eaton. Our drone pilots have a 100% pass rate on part 107 um commercial drone. As we've shared before, the Lexile of that exam is extremely high. So, our students are doing wonderful things and they actually take it as young as a sophomore in our program. And then we also have a 100% pass rate on our private pilot ground and our FAA private pilot written exams. So, this is higher than the

042college pass rate, which we just always love to say and also um honor our teachers work for how much they put into that program. Our CMP Academy continues to just win nationwide. I feel like every year we bring a new award to y'all that we haven't received before and they just continue to blow us away. So, this year it was the Lonear Regional Emmy Award. Don't let the word regional throw you off. This is the first time we have ever won this award. It competes against colleges, so they're not just competing against high school. And they took it. They won all um 100% got first place. We also opened the Texan, Inc. spot this year. So, we are doing most of our work inside the district right now. Um we are doing some for the

043public but we officially are open and that is our design and print shop that is inside the CME CMP Academy. And then over at Eaton High School they competed in the ATPI um competition this year which is like for commercial photography and six students placed in the top three among the entire state. So, also taking some big awards out there on our other comprehensive high school campuses. This was a super fun event that we got to do for the first time this year. So, our middle school CTE programs have a principles of engineering um course. They used to make furniture and the competition would essentially have teachers come and sit in the furniture and see if if it would hold. It was made out of cardboard. Well, they upped their game this year. They actually

044made boats and they didn't just sail these boats. They had to get in these boats and they had to row and see who could go the longest distance. So the natiatorum helped us host over at their facility and the themes, the team names, the excitement was awesome. We also had our um digital communications class from Worthington come and they did the MCing of the event and they live streamed it. So you have middle school students learning how to live stream an event, speak live out to the public and help with this uh cardboard boat riotta. So we are excited. It was the first year as Dr. FA says if you do it once it's a tradition. So we will continue to do that every year. And that is us in a nutshell so far this

045year. Do y'all have any questions? Everybody's looking at me. The uh um of course I've got all kinds of questions and I ask them all year round. But all these fun stuff that y'all do, we need invites. I don't know who I'm looking at Dr. FA's. We need invites. I would have loved to have been at the uh the boat regata to check that out and have and laugh and have fun with them. So that's all I ask is when on your presidential and uh superintendent reports, add those dates to stuff. So >> we can do that. You got it. All right. Any other questions? We love CTE. You guys are doing a great job. Thank you for that update. We appreciate it. Thank you for this support. Thanks. >> Okay, we will move to

046item B on the reports agenda, which is facilities, planning, and construction report. Sarah Stewart, bringing it home here in the reports. I'm not sure how I'm going to follow up with that because that was impressive, but um good evening board. Dr. Faustst, uh just to give you an update tonight on um we just changed it up a little bit and we're going to do just our update on construction that will be opening up this school, this next following school year, maybe. There we go. We we kept all um current projects on our um construction update just to keep you guys aware of where we are on all of the projects as well as our Gant chart. Um and then so Barksdale, our middle school up in North Lake, the turf is going down. It's looking

047really good out there. Um just getting the site cleaned up and and prepared for all the uh turf, natural and artificial to be laid down out there. Just another view. And then inside on the left, you'll see Miss Lukan House. On the entry hallway and then in the middle picture is our is an office is our office space with carpet already down. That's why there's protection. And then on the right hand side is approaching the library. And it's everything is just getting start to clean up and uh get that flooring down in the large or in the heavy traffic areas. Next, you'll see the probably the best classroom in the in the building. It's the corner um north uh northwest corner of each hallway. Um they've got two two walls of windows. It's great view.

048And then you can see behind um the next picture is uh the classrooms where they connect with another classroom. On the left you'll see our our gymnasium where it's being painted and the floor is going down or the floor is down and they're going to be they're painting it and staining it um for the floor. And then on the right hand side is the cafeteria where that flooring is going down as well. Dr. Hicks Early Childhood Center. The lefthand side is our library. The middle picture is the out exterior picture of the library on the back side of the school campus. And then the right hand side is our collaboration area. Dr. Romer Elementary School. The left hand is our storm shelter gymnasium and then our right hand side is the cafeteria. You can just

049see finishes going up um on the walls and then the final will be flooring. This is our office space on both sides and on the right hand side you can see some dab of color going in. Some of Dr. Romer's favorite colors are um throughout this building and our principal Miss Blackburn picked fuchsia. on the lefthand side is our collab as a collaboration area and then the right hand side is just a classroom uh double classroom then you have the the library and then um prek um in SCES on the right hand side Byron Nelson phase one so phase one was the pack u well it's all phase uh one but the pack is the first phase that is going to be opened we'll have it open this May so we'll be able to have

050awards um inside this beautiful facility. As you can see, we have our balcony up at the top. We have new acoustic panels, new um everywhere. And um just expanding that uh space is going to be great for that the the program there because I know that they're always in the forer when they have um musical events, theater events. [sighs] And then last but not least is Eaton High School Phase One is the P is their pack. We're not as as far along as we are for at Byron, but this one we had to expand the exterior of the building. We're in Byron. We were able to keep it enclosed in the current um uh building. So, we have um this is the foyer. It's still open to the to the uh to the air outside,

051but uh we'll be closing it in shortly so we can start putting finishes in that space. And this is upstairs on the left hand side of the forer. You can look down o over the balcony in that space. And then on the right hand side is their actual stage. Do you have any questions? >> Yes, sir. >> Uh, Miss Stewart. >> Yes, sir. >> So, the uh early childhood center, so it's very visual inside. I know we have an interior designer here. >> We do. >> I was wondering how much input we had on the visual aspects. >> Very much. They had weekly meetings with the visual with the um exhibit concepts in order to get the images that we were wanting in the spaces that we were wanting. >> Very excited for that facility.

052And our interior designer actually was a designer on the architect side and then we took her and she did the interiors for us. >> Yeah. and Mark they spent when you say weekly meetings hundreds [clears throat] of hours of refinement you know they would bring us something we say great but change this this this this this >> the lists were long and they did that several cycles quite a few cycles so >> a lot of sort of blood sweat and tears and heart in that building for that >> and we had a lot of people from curriculum help with that as well >> thank you thank you Sarah Okay, we will move to 11, which is the board president's report. And uh just a reminder that May 3rd is election day. Early voting is April

05322nd through 29th. Please get out and exercise your right to vote. And um I wish everyone a happy spring break next week. We'll move on to the superintendent report. >> Yes, ma'am. Just a couple um busy week this week. Tomorrow we have NISTD ambassadors here um and which is our former leadership NISD group. Um then the next day we have leadership NISTD. This is the time of the year that we take the annual bus tour uh and go see the different uh portions of the district. Yeah, it's just a eyeopening tour. Um and then on Thursday we have gold card lunchon also here. Um we also have um that evening the Nef's uh pinstripes event, party with the purpose. That's uh well that's actually a different event but uh Pinstripe's event is uh Thursday evening

054and um elementary art show starts April 6th. I'm going to skip ahead to uh inspire uh we have excellence awards on April 9th and then the service awards and retirees on on April 10th. So breaking that up and um the other thing since Mr. uh scrolls mentioned this. Don't forget first first reminder May 1st we have the uh we'll be hosting the Alliance Metroplex Engineering Challenge here. So uh come join us. But no, we'll we'll make sure we set that aside in Friday updates from now on so that you guys will have an opportunity to see those things. That's all we have. Move.
