That was your invitation to go get it. You ready? My turn. Hallelujah. You are truly ready. Heat. Heat. All right. Have you seen me alive? just one minute. Tada. Hallelujah. That's all right. Hallelujah. Got it. Great. Love this. Grill me, baby. Oh wow. Wow. Oh my. >> Mr. Oliv that was tremendous. Absolutely tremendous. Can y'all give them another rousing round of applause? Beautiful. 019of the program. Thank you all for honoring the board tonight. Thank you all for igniting brilliance. These kids and staff are absolutely amazing. God bless you all. All right, Madame President, at this time I'd like to make a motion that we reconvene into regular session from our recess at 6:40 p.m. >> Thank you. Uh, thank you, Mr. Martinez. Do I have a second? >> A second by Mr. Messa. >> Go ahead. >> All right. All in favor to um reconvene into regular session, Miss Alos. >> I, >> Mr. Ku. >> Hi. >> Mr. Hi, >> Miss Garza. >> I >> myself I Mr. Motoin is not present for this vote. Uh Mr. Mesa >> I >> motion carries. >> Thank you trustees. Dr. Pig, thank you for organizing this amazing event. Trustees, would you have

020does anyone have any few words they'd like to share? >> I just want to say thank you of course again to um Mr. Leesma and of course the choir. Those harmonies were amazing. And of course to our jazz band. Um, continue to make business cards in case anybody would like to hire it. No, I'm just kidding. >> You got that trumpet, sir. >> Thank you, Madus again. Thank you, sir. >> Wow. >> Any other trustees? >> No, I just like to say thank you to the principles and assistant principles who assisted in giving us um some appreciation gifts. Miss Wattis and her and her students. Um the real champions are you guys. You're the ones that put on the boots every day and hit the ground running. And for that, we're very thankful. And u

021that's really why we're here for you and for our kids. So thank you for all you do because we should celebrate you all year long. U Dr. Craig would you like to say anything? >> No ma'am just just grateful. Thank you. Grateful for the board. >> All right then we will continue with our with the reason why we're here. Mad I'm sorry. President remarks TASBY governance camp powered by student voice on March 4th through the 7th. I'm not sure who's registered to go or who's committed to go, but I will be there. Um I will be there only two days because I will be there in Houston already uh working from our office over there. Uh so I know Mr. Martinez is scheduled to go. >> Yeah, I'm scheduled to go and I just got

022confirmation today. Um I requested that weekend offic Miss Padyia when is the deadline to let you know that where we won't be able to >> it opens tomorrow. Okay. But for rooms and all that when when do you know when's the last day we can >> can we cancel but like to cancel? Do you know what? Okay. >> Okay. Perfect. Can you just register everybody? >> Okay. >> Can we just register everybody and then if they can't Okay. >> Thank you, Miss Sidma. Um, and our students are presenting. Correct, sir? >> Well, we have submitted a proposal for them to present. Yes. And we will know on January 22nd. Uh, the adults also are presenting and Mrs. Shervinho is leading that presentation with Mr. Velasco and there's a couple of others I think. So the

024with Miss Eidma. Thank you, Miss Eidma. Next item, superintendent evaluation that is scheduled for next month. Just wanted to put that in everybody's ear. uh we'll we'll come up with the tool and um just kind of get that started. So that will be a special meeting. It will not be included with our regular February schoolboard meeting. So I'll start reaching out to everybody on what's best for you uh to do that. Next item on the agenda, superintendent report. Dr. >> Thank you, Madam President and trustees. At this time, I'd like to pull up a very brief presentation here. Thank you, Mr. Gonzalez. I think it's coming up. There we go. >> Can y'all see this? >> Wait. Can Okay, you're good. >> Okay. >> I think I think we're good there, Mr. Gonz. >> Okay.

025So, let's uh cover four things tonight. We'll go to the next slide, please. Okay. Let's start with uh the donations. And we received from Melissa Mendes $600 for items related to the Christmas kits, the bags, the board games, the blankets, and the hot chocolate marshmallows. So, just want to lift up Miss U. Menddees, Melissa. Thank you for that. Also want to jump to number four and the administrative regulations. And the main one we want to talk about tonight, just to give you a heads up, um we have formed a committee that's working on streamlining all of the handbooks as it relates to athletics just so there's some consistency and uniformity. So that's in the works right now. Mr. Dino has a team. She's working with athletic team and other folks just again just build some

026consistency. And we've had questions and uh this is something that we're going to respond to and and bring it back to the board to review at a later date. >> Question, sir. >> Yes, ma'am. Is that going to include NHS cheerleading drill team, >> black band? Is it going to just be >> all inclusive? Yes. Yes, ma'am. Just it's time for a good review of every single handbook at this time. Just look at all of them. >> You know, we we've gotten to like any place you kind of just been doing it. It's kind of like, okay, you know what? Let's let's take a fresh look and just again, like I said, provide some consistency and uniformity. So excited about that. >> Thank you. >> It is time. >> And thank you everyone. Thank you,

027Dr. Quick. >> Thank you. I'm going to jump to two and three here. So, uh just want to lift up our our campuses, our principles and their administrative teams and their attendance clerks. Just if you look last year to this year, do you see any red there? No. Um attendance is on the move. Really want to pay attention to that last row there, the district attendance at 92%. Now, keep in mind, we had a day. Excuse me. We had a day. >> I'm not getting choked up. I think I'm just choking. Got choked up. >> You okay? >> The Heimlick some water. >> Where's Coach Lover? That's him. >> My apologies. The district attendance at 92% is very, very high at this juncture. the highest it's been more than seven years at this point. Now,

028keep in mind, we had a low attendance day. TEA approved it. We approved that day. We had 44% attendance. Kids that showed up wanted to learn. We didn't get penalized that day. So, uh very grateful for TEA for understanding uh the reason for that safety concern. Okay. But there's a butt. Now, we have to look at ADA. And I want to stress something here. The sky is not falling. Yes, we have some enrollment and ADA challenges, but let's take a look at them and talk about how we're going to solve them. Okay, go to the next slide. Let's just do a five-year ADA trend. Five years. You can see we're on the upward trend there, weren't we? Doing really well. 5% 2% 3%. This year, if you go to the last row, 2526, you'll see

029two numbers there in the second column under endofear ADA, that's of today. As of today, it's 2193. It is already below last year's ADA. Hence, we're going to get paid less, right? I put a number in parenthesis and overdid. There's an asterk there, too. 2128. If I were to show you the data over the last 10 years and could give you an idea of what it looks like today and where we usually finish in May, that's probably where we're going to end up. So, 80 less in ADA, which is almost a million and a half dollars. So I want to be prepared for that. So how do we prepare that? Go to the next slide, please. Again, we prepare by really looking at virtual meetings with every stakeholder involved. We have the first one on

030Friday at 3:30 to 4. That's really talking to our staff and asking them for ideas, making them aware of some of the budget challenges we're having. The sky is not falling. We have challenges. That's just part of this business, right? So, how do we come together to come up with some ideas from our staff and then we'll go on a tour uh with the community to talk about some of these budget challenges moving forward? I already told you about my professional development alongside Missy Stettos. That is the deficit budget series we're doing with TASBO. We just finished number three and four. The TASBY staffing study is done. It's in draft form. The secondary schedule analysis done by Moes in draft form. Those are done. The last one's a very important strategy and that is the

031voter referendum. Remember, we have M debt right now and we've the board has talked about this for several months now. We have M debt. We just have to ask the voters, can we move it over to INS, no increase in taxes at all, but why would we do that? Because we're sitting on INS, a very large INS fund balance, right? If we just pay off some of that debt and then clear up M for operations. So that's as a strategy we'll talk about in a workshop this month with the board. Okay. And last slide. Uh I mentioned that's Friday the virtual event and go on. >> And any questions >> question on the virtual event. >> Okay. >> So we're going to log in. Is it a certain time? Is it? >> Yeah, there'll be

032a Zoom that goes out. Yes, there'll be a Zoom that goes out tomorrow invitation and much like some of the morning messages, it'll go to the district staff and it'll also go to the board as well. >> So this first one will just be district staff. >> Yes, just district staff and and board. >> Sure. And what if we if we do get to that number five that you mentioned of the M and I money, how are we going to explain that? Are we going to do it a virtual thing for the community as well? >> We'll actually go on the road. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we'll do a road a road show. >> We really need to be out in front of some people in their face >> because because Yeah. I mean, I

033think emphasizing that that I mean it's sounds scary, right? When you've asked them to move money, but emphasize it what we're going to do with that and that they're not going to get an increase in taxes. Did they I I think they mentioned um what the percentage was that we're going to be getting as far as like a relief on the debt. Do you remember that percentage? >> Well, at the the the debt if even I think it's a million two. >> Okay. And but since this M debt gets moved over, it's probably another two million on top of that. Probably another two million on top of that. But we'll workshop it and go through in detail again. >> No, I have Madam President. >> Sorry. You're good. Any questions? Trustees. Next item on the

034agenda, presentation, formational items. Dr. Quig. >> Thank you, Madam President. At this time, the TNA uh I was going to say TIA team. I think we're going to bring up the TNL team. >> They look excited. They look very excited. >> Maybe it's >> TNL plus TIA. >> Maybe it's a crooked road again. >> Yes, it is. The TIA's cricket again. >> TNlia. >> No, it's we're we're logging in. >> Madame President, Dr. uh Pig school board members as always our vision and mission drives what we do in TNO along with our four pillars. So the first thing we want to talk about is the early childhood literacy coalition. Uh Miss Amy Chase from the service center came out Friday afternoon and did the second half of the training with us and we actually came up

035with a mission or a vision. I apologize. So that uh top sentence, our amazing elementary principles plus our TNL team came up with this vision which is collective teacher efficacy and Robstown ISD will drive foundational reading skills and empower confident teachers to deliver high quality found foundational literacy instruction with integrity resulting in growth for all students. It's a mouthful, but it's a lot of the goals that we have for early childhood literacy, and it's what's going to drive us as we move forward with this coalition. So, the next thing that we Miss Chase uh challenged us with or charged us with was to develop a plan for what we want to accomplish by the end of this May, by the summer, beginning of year, and then by December and next May. So, we have two

036major goals that we would like to do. One is to design a year-long PD plan for our teachers and our administrators because every district and elementary principal was had to do a survey and we realize some of us do not know some of the early childhood literacy components, but we are going to get trained in them to make sure that we can then help our teachers. And then we also with that PD plan, it's going to cover all the summer, the fall, and spring semester because as we know, adults have to hear things multiple times before it sinks in. We also need to be able to apply it quickly for it to really sink in. So we're very excited by this work. Miss Chase is going to continue to come out. Miss Dominic, cannot remember

037her last name, but she's also at the service center. >> There we go. Uh she's also going to be working with us. So, we're really, really excited about this coalition and moving forward with it. The next thing is our December EOC data. >> Good evening, board. Sorry. Um, we, as y'all know, with our EOCC's, they do um three times. So, with our regular STAR, we usually just take them in the spring semester. With our December EOCC's, these are for our five tested subjects that the kids need to pass to graduate. English one, English two, algebra, biology, and US history. So if they don't pass it the first time around, um they be we call them retesters. So they keep continue to retest until they pass them. So um this December, um if y'all see right

038off the bat, we had all green arrows. So we had a big uh increase in closing that gap. And I do want to give a lot of kudos to the high school staff because we sat around probably at the beginning of this year and it's like what can we do with these retesters because some of them just keep retesting and I mean poor kids some of them retest nine times but it's like they're going to keep doing the same thing unless you know we do something different. So we the campus really strategized this year and they put um a lot of our the English one and English two kids um with some amazing teachers so that way you could focus on because you know that like I said if they don't know what they're doing

039wrong they're never going to get it. So, if you look at our English one, um, we went up from last year from 14% to 26% passing from our December EOC's. And um, of course, that was a 12% increase. And I put the numbers on the bottom so y'all could see how many kids it was 10 out of 43 kids. Um, our English two kids, uh, we had a 20% increase in this. And I do want to, uh, mention, we had nine kids that went from did not pass to meet. So some of these kids had not passed two or three four times. And so for them to keep getting do not meets, do not pass two meets. I mean that's a tremendous gain as a big gap of progress. So kudos to Miss Davinho and

040her staff, especially those English teachers. Um in algebra, same thing. We had a 20% increase. We went from 21% to 41%. Um in biology, uh we had a 5% increase. But if you look at the numbers and like our US history, we went down one number, but it's pretty much the st same because if you look at the numbers, we had six testing um in biology and five testing in US history. So literally one or two kids makes a big difference because our numbers are so low. So but it's a good thing because that means our kids are passing the first time around in biology and US history. So kudos again to the high school because we had, you know, a big significant growth across the board in our December EOCC's. So that just makes

041us, you know, looking forward to spring. So we won't have that many retesters. I mean, you know, the kids following this trend. Um, the next thing that I'm going to be going over is House Bill 8. Um, I always say like TA, >> Miss Alanise, let me jump in real quick here. >> Sorry. Yes, sir. >> I want to get Mrs. Trevinho's perspective. We talked about strategy a little bit that ongoing You did a great job explaining that, Miss But there was there was just a vignette or two that you mentioned the other day >> with your students and kind of the way they reacted. This is the first time some of them passed. I know Miss Alis talked about it. It's a big deal. >> They need you for the mic for the >>

042um just thank you to Belle for, you know, always constantly being there and looking at data and answering all our questions every day. Um but yes, uh Dr. Pig board, um it was it was a joyful day that day. We had students who were actually in tears. We had kids that had never passed that actually passed that owed both of them and passed both English one and English two. Uh especially the nine that had never passed and finally passed at meat's level. Their score was a 4,000 plus was a huge deal to us. Um but you know the focus at Robson Early College High School is tier one teaching. Uh we have um a high percentage of kids that have come to us that have never passed before, but to us that is not going

043to be an obstacle. We continue to focus on tier one teaching supporting it with PLC and of course uh you know the learning walks. We have developed a culture of learning walks at Robson Early College High School where we all go together. It's not a gotcha and it's really a discussion between professionals about what's happening in the classroom and the dialogue and the conversation that takes place you know uh I went on a learning walk with Dr. quick Friday he went into a science class and he coached but the teacher was so comfortable with that like you know and I tell her when he's in here he's a colleague he is a teacher just like we are and he's giving you a model to follow when it comes to higher level questioning and it went

044so well and she was so good with it she came back um and we had a conversation around that but you know it's just creating that culture and having those deliberate conversations about what it is to have kids learn and what does that look like? So, kudos to my English teacher, my team, uh my IOT, my staff. Um but, you know, we're we're on the on the verge of turning things over here at Robstone Early College High School and with my colleagues who are working just as hard as I am. Um you know, Jacqueline and Hyman, Ana, and Gianna, they make me better and we have conversations practically every day about what's going on on our campuses. And thank you so much. and of course supportive district office and you guys. Thank you. >> Thank

045you, Mr. Vinho. Thank you. Thank you, Miss Alanise. >> No, I forgot to mention um so this year, this past December, TA started a new thing because when we get our our scores in and we can look at, we call them ECRs, our extended constricted responses, what y'all are used to, like the essays. So before we'd have to look at the scores and say if we wanted to rescore, we used to have to pay like $50 to get a kid rescore. So this past December would be the first time that TA is going to automatically rescore some of these kids that are within one point of the next level. So right now we have uh three possible in English one and three possible in English two. Um we should get the rescores on the 15th

046which is in two days. So you know those could go up a little bit but it's something now something new that TA did. uh this time around. >> Thank you for that, Mrs. Alanise. I'd be remiss if I'd invite one more principal up to say a word or two about I guess driving the work. And I'm going to just pick one. Mrs. Padilla, we talked earlier today about some pretty You were fired up. You wouldn't stop talking about it. It was I love it talking about instruction and then you talked about instruction. Then we were done. We talked about instruction again. >> Just share the work, please. >> Yes, sir. Uh good evening um board and uh madame chair and superintendent Dr. Quake at loudspe. We're just so excited. We're just really excited about coaching.

047Uh this year, just like Miss Trev said, we're focusing on the tier one instruction. We're focusing on our learning walks and we're also doing our test calibrations. And this week was test calibrations. And so what we're so excited is that we're consistently always uh readjusting as we need to, right, our coaching piece because we want to make sure that it's just an excellent model. And so uh last week region two came in and they're like, "Okay, we're going to go ahead and do observations and then we're going to do the immediate coaching right afterwards." And we did a schedule and it worked out beautifully. And so I said, "This week we're doing calibrations. You know what? We're going to do the same model. We're going to go ahead and set up the observations and then

048do the immediate feedback. And today, right before coming over here, because every Monday, we have our our leadership team meeting and our teachers uh were so excited because they like, you know what, we've always been meeting with them. We've always been giving them the feedback, but this is like instantly like we get out of their classroom and like the way it's set up is like instantly we give them the feedback. They come in, we talk about it, and it's just beautiful. It's so exciting. And today, Miss Palasus and I, what we did is like I coached two teachers and then she provided me feedback and then she coached some teachers and I provided her feedback and just seeing the transformation. I mean, you should have seen I took a picture. I was so excited. I

049took a picture for Dr. Puig to share uh you know the prepare how prepared the teachers are. They came in with their um rubric. They came in with their schedule and I also give them a little one pager and I got that idea from Miss Chaveeta. Miss Chavea says, "Oh, you know what? I'm gonna do the the calibrations and I'm going to give them a little what look force and I followed her league and so I give that to the teachers. The teachers come prepared with it and it's just beautiful. It was just beautiful to see it. So I took a picture uh and I sent it to Dr. Pig. So, we're continuously just refining and trying to get better. And just what Mrs. Trev said, we're really I feel so blessed because we have

050a really good team. We're consistently always texting each other. If I need something, it's like, "Hey, Miss Trev, do you have it?" Or, "Hey, Miss Chavea or you know, uh, Mrs. Gianna." And, uh, also, of course, we can't forget the king, right? The king always has a great great ideas. So, we're consistently always sharing and I think that's just so beautiful that we're always sharing and getting ideas just on how to make things better because that's what we want. We want growth, right? We all want that. We want our kids to do well and we want our teachers to be confident teachers. That's something that we discussed when we went with uh that reading training with Miss Chase. We talked about we want teachers to be confident and feel good, you know, feel good and

051get excited about teaching and making learning fun because that's what it's all about. We want kids to have fun to learn and to have fun and at the end of the day we want them to be successful in the star test and that's our goal at lot speech you know that is our goal each and every day and so continuously we're going to continue coach coaching I always I always tell my teachers my teachers say there's always a word for the year and this year it's intern it's instruction instruction instruction internalize internalize internalize I said you know what we're going to make a song and we're going we're gonna have to put in the coaching piece in there because I love coaching. I can do that all day. I love coaching. And I know Miss

052Palasus today was so excited. She's like, "You know, Miss Padya, I I feel like I'm getting really good at the coaching." And I said, "Okay, why do you think you're getting better? Why do you what's what's making you feel that success?" And she goes, "Because we're coaching all the time. We coach coach coach and you know, we're helping each other. We're we're having discussions and then the region center is coming in and we're using every opportunity that we can so that we also as administrators we grow and we learn so that we can better serve our teachers and our students. I can keep talking and talking but yes I'm done. >> Thank you Mrs. Badia >> Mrs. Alanise. >> Okay. Any other questions on the December EOCC's or scores? >> Um, I don't have a

053question. I just have a comment. Um, you know, hearing you you speak and Dvinho and and Miss Padilla, it's it's as an educator, it's I'm a proud I'm proud just because I'm hearing that you can hear the collaboration just in your stories and knowing that these are not bad kids and these are not Morales's kids. These are Trevino's kids. are our kids and it's apparent in the way y'all speak, you know, and um I'm just super proud. >> Yes. Is it So, usually when TA releases the scores, it's supposed to be in the morning, but I always check I know Miss Chaveet is like, "This year we're going to have a party at Belle's house at midnight. So, when TA releases, we're all going to start desegregating data." So, I was like, "It was about

05411:15." I said, "I'm going to check just in case they did come through." So, it's like I wanted to text them right away because, you know, we're we still had some seniors that were waiting to see if they were going to pass two so they can graduate and feel relieved. So, I just want wanted to start texting them. I'm like, "Okay, they'll I'll send them an email and if they respond because it was about 11:30 at night." So, but it is I mean it's not our kid, my kid. They're at the end of the day like we say it takes a community to build our kids and you know it starts from the bottom. So, our elementaryaries have to know you know what they're sending us or vice versa. you know what's coming up the

055train because of you know we all got to work together to start closing this gap. So thank you. Okay, now on to House Bill 8. And I always say this with everything is like TA like once we learn the game and the rules and then they say okay no we're going to change it up. So um House Bill 8, this is just kind of some quick briefs. Um that's going to change. It's going to start the uh year 2728. So, we still have kind of two years um to start learning the system and then what's going to be about. But, uh one of the things that TA is saying is they don't want kids to have test anxiety and to stressed out. So, um and it started this December too. Like there's a little verbiage

056in the test administrator manual that tells the kids like, you know, just relax, you know, don't get anxiety and has a little bit of calming words uh for the kids that the teachers have to read before they take the test. So, we did see this this past December um in the teacher manual. Um, of course, we know right now um we the star three through eight, we test one time a year and that's in the spring. So, with the new House Bill 8, they're going to be doing a BOI, which is beginning of the year, an MOI, which is the middle of the year, and then the EOI, which is end of the year. So, our K through fifth graders already do that with our MClass test that we do. Uh, but now that is

057what Star is going to be going through is to those three tests a year. Um, and they have not come out with a schedule as yet. Um, they have released an assessment calendar, but I know they're going to have to rechange it so they could put in these deadlines. Um, but for the EOCC, which is the high school uh, courses, though, the MOI at the beginning, the BOI and MOI are going to be optional. So, for right now, for the EOCC's, it's going to still stay with the end of the year. So, of course, that's still information that's pending. Um, and then English 2 EOCC will go away. So then the students will only have English one which is their freshman year. Um and they say they should be shorter assessments across the board. Uh

058star three through eight and then EOCC's um and our faster results. They're saying that we should get the results within two business days. But I like I said we'll see how that um turns out once that time comes. And that's it on the House Bill 8. Any questions? And of of course, like once we um hear any information, I always let the principles know. As a matter of fact, um I am going to San Antonio Wednesday and I'm gonna have I'm doing a training up there. They've asked me to present again, but I'm having a meeting with TA, not me, but we're having a meeting with TA over House Bill 8. So, we should get some more information um when I'm there on Wednesday. So, >> there's one more. Oh, 21st century. >> You guys

059uh came to or you asked in December about the 21st century grant and so we did want to provide some updates to you guys and where our progress is. We do have a grant writing team that's consistent of or consists of both district and campus leadership. We've already started meeting. We've split the application amongst the fi six of us. Uh we've also sent out the a survey. You may have seen it on Facebook that went out to the community the Friday before we went on break. That day alone we got over a hundred respondents >> probably within the first hour. Uh >> 166 right through the whole Christmas break. I was like that means people are >> they're very excited. So as of earlier when we created this we had close to 500 respondents and

060what they're saying is they want us to get the we they want us to get the 21st century grant and they're ready to support us. We do have we've secured with the CE family library. We are finalizing with the Robstown Young Futures in Agra Life. This is of course contingent on getting the grant. The grant um we are touring the Robtown Young Futures facility this Friday and then the application is due February 16th. So we have our own timelines. We are going to do a stakeholder meeting uh within the next week I believe to pull the community and let them know what the opportunities are, what the grant looks like, but we are going for the big number. We are going to shoot for $2 million for this grant. >> Did we find out for

061sure as far as how how um how long the >> It is a five-year grant. uh first year is the one that we're applying for and then it's contingent on funding, but we can potentially get it up to five years based on funding. Any questions about 21st century? We're very excited. The grant foundation or the grant team, Miss Pena, has been emailing us daily with updates, which has been great. So, very, very motivated for this. And then now, I think we're turning over to Miss Sylvvis with TIA. Good evening, Madame President. Good evening, Madame President, Dr. PG, members of the board. So, the journey is getting a little curvy. We wanted to make sure that um be a little different for Mr. Martinez, but this is a sign of what the road will look like

062basically in the spring. a couple of stops along the way from December to now. Uh we did meet with our teachers from San Pedro and wrapped up um our first round of meetings there. And before we left for the break, we did uh meet with our DIC and we also provided um a status and an update for them so that they could know where we're at in our journey. When we came back from um from the holidays, we went ahead and we met um discussing CTE classes. We met with Mr. Portillo. We took a look at all the CTE courses that we had uh previously indicated for phase two and we wanted to finalize that and wrap that up before we meet with uh with the entire TIA committee as uh as to what um

063courses we'll be um working in on phase two. we are uh we we do have an application that's due uh right around the corner. So uh we wanted to make sure that we would um discuss the CTE courses and then of course there was a webinar that was attended with all the new fall updates. So um we will be um working on our test calibration. Uh we do have uh the service center that will be coming in this month. And then of course we also have some skew analysis training this next week. Next week. >> Yes. What is today? Monday. Wednesday. Uh so we'll have some more updates and the road will get pretty curvy, but it's exciting. It's an exciting journey. Um we'll continue to to provide you the updates and um tell you

064where we take our stops along the way. Any questions for from any of you? No. All right. Thank you. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Thank you, ladies. Next item on the agenda, M update. >> Thank you, Madam President, trustees. I'd like to invite Mr. Lav up. He's got an 18minute presentation. Mr. Good evening, Madam President, Dr. Pig, board members. Um, my gift to you for is I'm going to keep my brief short. So, that's my gift, but thank you seriously for all your time and efforts that you do for Robtown ISD. It's greatly appreciated. Um, honestly, for maintenance and operations, the big deal right now is the fieldhouse. And what I after tonight, I'm hoping that, you know, once everything gets done on y'all's end, we have a we can get a potential start date. I

065will tell you that I did meet with the superintendent and the uh project manager that will be in charge of this uh operations here at our fieldhouse. They were finishing up a similar job, not not similar, but they were doing a wait room at Bishop High School. Um so they just called me, asked if they could come take a look at the building, uh take some pictures and just get a little bit lay of the land. Um so I met them last week and uh good group of guys. I'll tell you, they seem very professional, very eager to start the job. And uh they were they were pretty impressed that this building has been empty for so long and it's in the shape that it is as far as it didn't turn into a dump

066site. You know, normally when they get somewhere like this, they have to do some pre uh construction stuff and clean out. So, they were really excited that the building was empty, ready to go. So I'm hoping after tonight, you know, we get a projected start date, but that will be my focus for the next, you know, 240 days. So questions, >> Mr. Lford, just to save some time. I'm sorry, Mr. Martin, >> since the building is empty, sir. Uh maybe it'll cut it to 140. No, >> you never know, sir. >> I wouldn't doubt they shave some time off that. Before we get to the item, just remind the board the conversation we had as a committee, but remind the whole board of the conversation with the fieldhouse in relation to the air condition. And

067we talked about the air handlers and the condenser and kind of where that's at. Oh, okay. So, the the the two units the units that we have right now, right, the the air handlers, the age of the air handlers are the age of the building, right? So, the building's been there 15, 20 years, >> something like that. >> 20 years. >> Okay. So the air handlers have, you know, they've outlived it. So it's good, but it it's also they can go out at any time. The condensers are about six to eight years old. So the smart thing to do would be just go ahead and get new units. Um I do think that we can use one of those units here at the library at Hattie Martin, uh which I know will benefit us. We

068can reuse it. Uh I do think we can do that. And then the other unit, uh as I told Dr. wig as maybe something we could uh donate to St. Anony's um because they're in working condition, but if we're doing the fieldhouse, a new fieldhouse, we might as well get the new units. >> Thank you, sir. I I don't know. That's going to be >> good deal. Thank you. >> Thank you, Mr. Lver. Next item, list of bills. The list of bills are in your packet for your reference question. Any questions? Um, email Dr. Quick. Correct, sir. Uh, next item, financial statement report. Dr. Quick, >> the financial statement report, if you take a quick look at it here on page 27, and we'll we'll talk about it in the audit here a little bit,

069but you'll you'll notice the fund balance. How many times? >> 29 28 28 >> 28 28 29 uh if you look at the the chart of the statement of revenues, expenditures and changes in fund balance, you'll see the Mrs. Centos likes to call it fund fu balance, but fund balance here is 10.9 at the end of 831 2025. The reason that's changed is because it's now been audited. So, we'll go through the audit so you can see how that reconciles with what Phil Vaughn, the auditor, did just so you'll see. I know you've probably seen it in the past and that hasn't been finalized, but that is now official. So, we'll talk about it when we get to the audit. Just want to make sure you point that out on your financials. >> Thank you,

070Dr. Quig. Next item, consent agenda items. Trustees, >> I'd like to make a motion, Madam President, that we approve consent agenda items A through D. >> Have a first by Mr. Martinez. Do I have a second? >> Second by Miss Gloss. >> We have a first and a second to approve consent agenda items. Miss Gobos >> I. >> Mr. Ku. >> Hi. >> Mr. Goss. >> Hi. >> Miss Garza. >> I. >> Myself. I. Mr. Marin. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mesa. >> Hi. >> Motion passes. >> Thank you, trustees. Next item. Action items. to discuss and consider approval of Robstone ISC annual financial audit report for September 1, 2024 to August 31st, 2025. Dr. CL, >> thank you madam president trustee. Something very unusual uh with the audit in a good way. I'm going to

071invite Evos up and we'll talk about the audit. For the first time in my history, I've been doing this a little while and Missy Sentos, you've been doing a little while too. Our auditor is not present tonight. That's a good thing. Why? because the audit is stellar. >> And so they've asked us to present tonight provided he sent an email to Madame President which >> He did. Okay. So he did. I did check on that. >> Yes. >> So if Phil Vaughn is watching at home, we have you have he's done his part and we're happy to present the audit. Miss uh Mrs. Stenos, I'm going to turn over to you for the audit highlights. >> Good evening, Madam President, members of the board. >> I can hear you. >> Good evening, Madam President. Me

072to the board. In your packet, you should have a full copy of the financial audit. And there is a one page a one page in there with the auditor's highlights and that's what we're going to go over briefly. Okay. So our auditors have given us a clean unmodified opinion which is the best we can get. It means that our audit is um free of material and significant findings. On the one pager, he highlighted the parts that we usually like to look at the most. And that is our fund balance. And there's the number that Dr. Pig um pointed out just a while ago. The 10.9 >> the 10.9 is our fund balance at the end of the 2425 school year. And if you look down at the bottom right below that, he is estimating we

073have 4.4 four months worth of fund balance operating expenditures in our fund balance >> and the minimum we can have is three correct >> that correction >> well it's not I mean that's the recommend recommendation yes you want to talk real quick about the other fund balances just so they understand because we talked about debt service earlier And if you notice 24 to 25, do you see that death service fund balance 1.4 essentially in 2024? And then in 2025, you see it's 2.4. Do you notice that in the debt service? So this is why we're talking about using >> that >> moving our debt over from the M to the INS so that we can uh utilize some of that fund balance that has been growing and free up funds in our M. Then we

074also have our food child nutrition fund balance at the 1.2. And the child nutrition one, we're working on a spend down for that. Um, but they have adjusted those regulations before. They did not want us having more than three months. Now they've increased it to where we're allowed to have up to six months. So that pressure to spend it down is not there as much. And then of course for this year, you will see the uh capital project notes that are new for this year. Any questions? >> Questions? >> Just want to commend you and the team for getting us report on this. >> Thank you, Miss Candos, to you and your team. Y'all have done just a phenomenal job of being strategic with with um all the funds. We're grateful. >> Thank you, sir.

075Trustees, do I have a motion to approve the annual financial audit? >> I have a first by Mr. Marukin. >> Second by Mr. Mesa. Any questions or discussion? >> We have a first and a second. Action item A. Miss Yobos. >> I. >> Mr. Ku. >> Hi. >> Mr. Gos. >> I. >> M. Garza. >> I. >> Myself. I. Mr. Mim. >> I. >> Mr. Messa. >> Motion carries. >> Thank you trustes. Next item. to discuss and consider approval of contract for the Robson Early College High School Fieldhouse with Helis Construction. >> Thank you, Madam President. Trustees, if you will turn to page, let's see, let's go to the contract. I know it's 200 plus pages. Uh let's go to page 16 >> five and then hop over to 167. Article four of the contract

076says contract sum on on page 165 and then hop over to everybody there. Good. Go to 167. You'll see the table of all the articles. If you go to 167 at the bottom, article 4 contract sum. And please know that Juan Cruz and Associates, we have scrubbed 200 plus pages of this. So this contract's good to go. But we have to make sure that we're comfortable with what the project entails. This amount here is, if you'll notice there, 3,648,114. That includes the two alternates. That includes the alternate one which is the AC and then the alternate two which is the the painting portion of it which is like 135. We're like wow that's a great deal. So this this exceeds the budget by $148,000. No, you know, yes, we have the money to do the

077extra $148,000. We'll make a trade-off somewhere else. But I think it I would like to recommend what Mr. Lver said to go ahead and do those additional components. That is alt one and alt two just to ensure that the long run we don't incur any more expenses on that. >> So I thought the budget was 3.7 >> the 3.5 >> means what we had approved five and then we kind of >> to 3.7 >> somewhere in there. Yes. Right. Right somewhere. >> I think it was 3.7 >> 3537 right in there. >> So I think we're okay. >> Yeah because I know that the the final number was 3.7. We were just trying to get it lower. So this is >> So this is within >> Yes, sir. >> You notice on the middle of

078that page too, you'll see the substantial completion agreement and you see it says there in the middle of the same page, article 3.3 substantial completion no later than 240 calendar days. >> So sir, if we approve this today, when does work actually start? >> So we'll have a pre-con a pre-con meeting next week and we'll lay out that that schedule. Okay. Did you know that we wanted like because I I'm going to be honest. I was under the pressure it was going to start like when we came back on Monday. >> So, can you I mean, if we need to have another meeting, we can because we still have the committee. >> Um, >> there's no other meeting to be had other than us officially approve this document here and authorize the superintendent to execute.

079>> I think this was our last meeting. >> Yes. Like official last meeting before we start, I guess. >> Yes. I mean, and that's I'm just saying like we still have the construction committee that we can meet if we need to meet. I just want to make sure that he understands that we're under the fire and we want it to start ASAP. Am I correct, >> Mario? Bobby, >> yeah. Oh, yeah. We're ready to get going. And I think based on their walkthrough the other day, we'll probably save some time. I can't speak, but just because they commented that they thought there was a lot more demo work there. There's none. It's it's clean and it's ready to go. So, God willing, we'll save some time there. I wanted to have a little bit more

080conversation, you know, uh, on some issues that came up electrical. I still have a a question on the electrical part, but we we'll we can discuss. >> Absolutely. Yeah, we can still meet as a committee and but we we're definitely ready to exit recommend this as it is tonight and and move forward with the >> one other question, sir. Did they did they uh reach out to the local contractors? >> Oh, yes, absolutely. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So, you're approved tonight. Today you just said you're going to have a meeting next week. So that's already two weeks in my mind and my woman logic mind. >> What do you mean two weeks? >> Because it's all this week because we're just Monday >> and then you're having a meeting next week. So I'm curious

081if you can give us an update on when we're going to see work here. >> We're going to see movement. >> Right. So the the kickoff meeting will start next week and then we'll lay out a Gant chart of all the components of the project. >> Okay. Can the you you guys want to come to that kickoff meeting >> or be told >> if available? Okay. >> Uh one other question. Uh are they done with the wait room Bishop? >> Yes. >> Okay. So they're done. So basically >> Yeah. So they can basically you know get the front end started. All right. Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Do I have a first to consider approval of contract for the Robson Early College Fieldhouse with Helis Construction >> and authorize the superintendent to execute? >>

082Okay. You want to go ahead and say that? >> Yes, ma'am. >> I'm sorry. Right. Uh like to recommend the board approve the contract documents for the fieldhouse with Helis Construction as presented and authorize the superintendent to execute as such. >> I'll make a motion. Have a first by Mr. Messa. I have a second by Mr. Ku. Any questions or discussion? >> Um I do just want to say for the record that yes, you are authorized to make to make decisions, sir. But I would like to be in the loop for all meetings and and I I believe that Mr. Martinez I mean Mr. Mukin feels the same way. all of us if we could just be getting updates of when we're going to start when we're going to, >> you know, meetings or whatever.

083Yes, ma'am. >> Uh, any other questions? >> All those I'm sorry. Go ahead, Mr. >> We have a first and a second to approve item B under action items with the recommendation as presented by Dr. Pig. >> Miss Vos, >> I >> Mr. GU, >> hi. >> Mr. Gos, >> hi. >> Miss Garza, >> I >> myself I Mr. Minim. >> Hi, >> Mr. Messa. >> Hi. >> Motion carries. >> Thank you everybody. Next item. discuss and consider approval of the 2025 2026 library book titles in the district's library catalog in accordance with Senate Bill 13. Dr. >> Thank you, Madam President. Uh per Senate Bill 13, we'd like to approve that the recommend the board approve the list of library titles for the 2526 school year in accordance with Senate Senate Bill 13 requirements

084and district policy EFA, which you all adopted uh a few months ago. And we've also sent you those links that came from Mrs. Mrs. Wattz, I'm gonna invite you up to the podium in case there are any questions related to this, but um yes, it's on page 349. 349, sir. >> So, we kind of followed sequentially. We approved EFA policy and then we shared the links from Mrs. And then uh we chose in the policy not to do the committee. We've got it because we've got a great district librarian here. So ma'am, I invite you to the podium. >> No, just basically um the list basically contains all of the titles that we are looking at purchasing um for the library this school year um for all of the campuses. Not that we'll get every

085single title that's on there, but those are the ones that we um found appropriate um and valuable to add to our collection. And so based on the Senate Bill 13, now we do need board approval for um those titles. And so it kind of gives us a good bank so that we can do purchases throughout the school year um without having to come back and have a meeting every single month for approval. So, this will give us a good chance to spread it out. So, our students are getting to see new books um consistently throughout the year. >> How often do we like I don't know what the word is, but like like like through books, do we ever get rid of books that are just how often does that happen before we just weed

086them out? Yeah. Um we weed books at v well we did weed books at various points during um the school year whenever we'd go and run our reports on our um copy analysis for collection age. Um also as part of Senate Bill 13 we do have to have board approval for any books that we choose to weed out of our library. So what we're doing is waiting till the end of the school year. So, we will weed out, but we're just basically making the list of the books that we're choosing to weed and setting them off to the side. Um, so at the end of the school year, we can come back with a list of the books we're choosing to weed and get the approval and then we can send them out. >> And

087when you send them out, where do they go? Do you just have to send it to or can you just maybe donate them somewhere or >> Yes, we we put them out for the kids to take. They can take them as free books and take them home. Um, and so that way, you know, they just get a second home. Thank you, ma'am. >> Any other questions?
