Elisando and uh she plans or will be attending Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and she plans to major in political science. Savannah, [clears throat] >> good evening Mr. President, members of the board, Superintendent Gonzalez and guests. My name is Isabella Lisando. I am a senior at Roma High School and tonight I will be speaking to you about this month's character trait, self-discipline. From the moment one is born, they depend on their caretaker to ensure all their needs are met. This codependency is so significant to the development of one's being as it defines how they are not only raised but also whom they become. In order for one to fully be capable of making their own choices, they must first rely on their supporters who teach them the virtues of wise decision-making. Through this acquisition of
self-discipline, one is able to act reasonably and learn the weight of their impact upon the trajectory of others. Self-discipline is not an inherent trait. It is acquired. The feature includes sacrificing one's desires, which may provide instant gratification for long-term goals. This choice is difficult for many to make as we humans thrive off the release of endorphins enabled through the first option. However, those who recognize the importance of playing the long game and basking in the profits of such costs are those who can consider themselves as disciplined. The characteristic has defined mine and the journey of many. From devoting my time to academics and constantly giving up my weekends, I have familiarized myself with the concept of self-discipline. Yet, I must acknowledge that my holding of this trait has only been been capable through establishing balance.
By reasonably weighing out my options, I have discovered that what works best for me while I focus on academics. I also remember to just be a teenager. Whether it be devoting hours to studying throughout the day to then turning in for the night selling concession at a football game. This balance has depicted how self-discipline has reshaped my identity and even transformed the once acquired quality into something innate. The trait has defined the balance my life revolves around and is also responsible for defining the true purpose behind my existence impact. Throughout my high school career, I have become acquainted with the concept of leadership. However, what many do not recognize is how the quality is composed of many traits, one of which is self-discipline. by ensuring I devote my time to servicing others. Whether it be
by simply cleaning up our local community center, advocating for victims throughout my work at the crime victim center, or even leading statewide conferences, I have found that each of these endeavors are outlined by the character trait. One must hold disciplines in order to establish what kind of change they want to transpire. The principles behind the impact one makes is something on earth through the virtue of self-discipline. The affformentioned trait is not simply a quality which entails controlling one's impulses but a feature which holds immense depth in personal growth. By individually facing the conditions of the trait, I have redefined the role self-discipline plays within each and every person. From the instant my parents taught me the importance of balancing the selfless impact one must discover through finding their very own identity serves as an attestament
that self-discipline is a concept introduced by those who are responsible for raising you. Yet equality can only be nurtured through one's own acceptance of its bastment. >> Thank you. Thank you. [applause] >> Well, thank you very much, Isabella, for that interpretation of the character trait of the month, self-d disccipline. And uh certainly want to wish Oscar and and Luis as well as yourself the very best uh as the year comes to an end and uh a bright future. I see a bright future for the three of you as well as all of our our graduating seniors. uh and the future that is sitting to either side of you and behind you because they are next. Uh so uh congratulations to the three of you and to uh your families for for this honor here this

So, so that one's not the one that's pending. That's for the individual sessions that happened. There were 12 sessions that happened these past four months. And the one for January, I believe the August one had already been paid. So, this is January. the individual sessions which were 10 or 12 and then we're still missing paying the the August one. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> Thank you, Dr. G. >> Thank you. >> On page 58 and 59, uh there are two checks

I'll let them know >> please. >> Yes. But the last we had conversation with uh NM they say they want to finish at the projected date. That's their target. >> That's their goal. >> But it could be delayed, >> right? That's what they said. The last meeting we have August, but right now it's October. >>
So just two months. Menos the delay. >> The delay. Then on on page 95 sir where you have the the bond projects their balances. This report is updated how often? >> Monthly. Okay. And then uh the very last page on page 95 it says there uh total bond expense as of October 2025. Is that something that needs to be updated or why does it still say October 2025? >> Okay. Yes, it should be March 2026. >> Okay. >> So that is the balance as March 2026. >> Yes. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions for Mr. Alanise? >> Thank you, Mr. Alanise. >> Any questions regarding enrollment for Mr. Garcia? >> I did include an updated report on your on your desk. Um, we're doing our online registration, adding our students, and I
failed to remove the ones that we enrolled online for the upcoming year. So, the uh the correct uh number for FJ is that the one that's highlighted, 520, >> the 524. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. >> So, we're just under 6,000. >> That is correct. And then I think I've said this before, historically we usually peak around March 8. So we start getting start going down from from that one. >> So Mr. Garcia, is that the reason we went from uh on the book uh we had a total enrollment for April 23rd of 2026. And here you have >> 5945. that that 524 uh >> we had >> on the the the one I I gave you the highlighted one those extra 20 students are some of the students that we were enrolling online we're
adding to the system but I failed to remove the the count when I made the report >> so that's why >> that's yes >> any further questions for Mr. Thank you, Mr. >> At this time, I'll entertain a motion to approve consent agenda items A through I. >> I shall move that we approve the consent agenda items A through I as being presented. >> Thank you, ma'am. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Any further discussion? If none, there is a motion on the floor by Trusty Cruz and seconded by Trusty Escovar to approve agenda item number six as presented. All those in favor of the motion, please indicate so by saying I. >> I I >> I and I abstain from Flowers Baking Company. >> Okay. Seven in favor, none opposed. one abstension by
as noted by trustee mascot. Motion carries. We'll move on to agenda item number seven, Sentinel reporting on school bus seat belt uh school bus seat belts costs. That's a lotus. Uh presenting will be our district safety director, Mr. Defonso Saliva Jr. Mr. Sunday. >> Good afternoon, Mr. President, trustees, Mr. Rosales, and guests. The purpose of coming before the school board is to pro provide you a brief presentation on Senate Bill 546, which deals with school safety, bus safety, specifically seat belts and the action plan that has been developed. The bill was created due to a fatal 2024 school bus crash in Texas, which raised concerns about student safety. The bill was passed in June 2025 and took effect September 1st, 2025. All school buses transporting students must [snorts] have seat belts, especially threepoint seat belts,
just like in cars. Applies to all buses, not just new ones. It removes older exceptions. Exemptions. School districts must upgrade or replace buses to comply and report costs and data to the state. The law does not provide funding, so districts must cover costs themselves if they cannot afford full upgrades. They may request exemptions, use grants, donations, or other funding sources. School districts have until September 2029 to fully comply. Furthermore, the school district is required to determine the reporting obligation, obtain cost estimates, have a plan of action, present to the school board, and complete the report on Sentinel by May 29th, 2026. I believe you also have a copy of the uh seat belt inventory and a plan, a small plan at the end on page three. Pretty much this is just uh we have to
present to the school board so that you are aware of what the requirements are and present on sentence. >> Any questions? >> What does it mean three point two points? >> Three points basically are basically like the the seat belts on the cars where shoulder >> I see. Okay. >> I see. [clears throat] So like on the buses that on the example you have a 127 up to 116 that has no seat belt. Are we adding seat belts to those or >> the cost and it's not there but the cost? Well the actual ones that we do have are from 144 to 220 213. The other ones are just a part of the actual uh Excel sheet. So the actual buses that we have are from 114 144 through 213. And uh as far as
that have the three point then there's 12 buses that have the two point from 16 through 39 and then five six and uh 46 47 44 excuse me and then the other ones that we have on the last column there uh we have no seat belts but those buses are not being used. They're being used according to Mr. Ku they're being used as spare buses so they're not being used. and you're going to try to to install the seat belts on those buses, the ones that are not being the concern right now is we have until uh basically 2029 to finish off. So, uh the the point trying to get the seat belts on those that don't have and so he went and requested a quote from I believe Longhorn uh international >> and he
has a quote for the buses. >> Three points, right? >> Three points. Any other questions for Mr. Salivor? Thank you, sir, for your presentation. >> Thank you. >> We'll move on to agenda item number eight, which is consideration possible action on approving 2026 summer school employment recommendations. Our presenter will be our district federal programs director, Mrs. Yida Diaz. Mrs. Diaz, >> good evening. You have a packet with the recommendations for summer school employment. These recommendations will will ensure that we have a robust and productive summer school program that will result in increased student achievement. Please consider approving the 2026 summer school employee recommendations. >> Any questions for Mrs. Diaz? >> I do have questions, but they're um I guess they're related to personnel. So, I don't know if we can go ahead and move the
agenda item to executive session and then come back and and uh for for a motion uh for this agenda item. >> Yes, that's that can be done. Uh we just need a motion made. >> Um I make a motion that we move agenda item number eight into close session. Um and then come back uh after for the approve approving or for action on approval. >> I second just Mr. D. >> Yes. >> Okay. There is a motion on the floor uh to um to move agenda item 8 uh for discussion to close session. Uh the motion was made by uh trusty Beda and seconded by trustee Rios. We would uh is at this time um is there any further discussion on this motion? If not, all those in favor of uh of uh moving agenda
item number eight to close session for discussion purposes, not action. Uh all those in favor, please signify by saying I. >> I. I. >> Eight in favor. I mean seven in favor, none opposed. Motion carries. We will then uh uh come back in open session and take action on this agenda item. >> Thank you, Mrs. We'll move on to agenda item number nine. Consideration possible action to approve the purchase of 10 77 passenger buses. 10 buses. Correct. Is that right? Mr. Alanise the our district executive director for business and finance Mr. Pedro Alanise >> will make this presentation. >> Good evening. Yeah. At this time we request authorization to purchase 10 L horn IC integrated coach uh 77 passenger school buses. The transportation department recommends that Longhorn uh IC model as they the majority of
