And board members will now adjourn to executive session as authorized by the Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas Government Code, section 551.001, 001 concerning any and all purposes permitted by the act. Should any final action, final decision, or final vote be required, that final action, final decision and final vote shall take place in open session. And we are in executive session at 5:02 Okay, good evening. I'd like to welcome each you to the Santa Fe ISD Board of Trustees meeting. We believe it's important this meeting be conducted in an organized and efficient manner. And to that end, I'd like to outline just a few ground rules for all us to follow during the evening. First and
foremost, recognize this is a board meeting. By law, most of the discussion and all of the voting must be done in open session, but public participation by necessity must be limited to that part of the agenda that's reserved for public input. Occasionally, the board may seek uh a comment or clarification from an administrator or even from one of y'all in the audience, and it's the board's prerogative to seek that information from non-board members as it chooses. However, unsolicited participation from the audience will be inappropriate. Secondly, at times just be aware we're appears we're voting on issues of importance with little or sometimes even no discussion. Just be advised that all board members get a packet of background information from the subjects on tonight's agenda several days in advance to actually come in here to participate
in the meeting. After receiving those packets, we often exercise the opportunity to contact various school administrators and ask those specific questions so in a better effort to understand the issues which we're expected to vote on. Uh thank you for your interest in your school district as witnessed by your presence here tonight and we encourage your cooperation helping us conduct the business of Santa Fe ISD and organized and civilized manner and I hope you enjoy the evening. Uh Mr. Davenport, would you please send the invocation please? >> Would you please bow your heads? Heavenly Father, we come to you tonight just to say thank you for everything that you do for Santa Fe ISD and this community. Heavenly Father, as we mourn the loss of eight years ago tonight, that we ask that you keep in
your thoughts and your prayers the victims and families and community of Santa Fe, help remember all those that were affected and most importantly never let them be forgotten. Heavenly Father, as we go forward and conduct the business of tonight's meeting, we just ask that you give the board the wisdom and also all the necessary information to make the best judgments for our students and staff. Heavenly Father, as we move forward tonight, also when we go our separate ways, I just ask that you take care of each and every one of us. Help us have a wonderful evening and be safe on our way homes. >> Dear Lord, just want to say thank you for everything that you've done. In your name we pray. Amen. >> Amen. >> And Miss Ansley Scaliz, will you come help
us tonight? >> Please rise for the pledges. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Honor the Texas flag. I aliance to thee, Texas. One state and indivisible. >> Thank you, ma'am. Appreciate you. Okay. Do we have any action from our close session tonight, >> Mr. President? We do. Um, one item from executive session is that we want to consider and approve the professional contracts for 2627 school year. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and seconded that we approve uh these professional contracts that were discussed in close session. Any other questions or comments? >> No, sir. >> Not. Would you cast your votes, please? And it has passed. Thank you.
Do we have any other action from our close session? >> Mr. President, we do not. >> All right. This we will move on into our recognitions. Um, Mr. Davenport, before you get started, I I want to take this opportunity from the board. Somebody's in here. This time of year, there's a lot of activities going on. There are a lot of things happening, and there are a lot of great things here in Santa Fe. And we have a lot of folks that are going to be recognized tonight, but we there's a lot of good things going on right now. Kids participating in academic things and extracurricular and all that and a lot of people going to state in competitions and events that we've never been represented before and things like that. So, there's a lot of
really great things going on and a lot of people in this room and a lot of our staff that are not here tonight are responsible for that. And so a great big thank you and a recognition to all of them as we wind up this school year for that. Mr. >> Davenport, you're correct. Lots of great things, lots lots to celebrate. Um we are going to start our recognition this evening by inviting coach FAF and coach Hernandez up to recognize some of our junior high track students. >> Hello. >> All right. You want to go up there in front my front stand right here and face the face the board. >> You want them in front of me. Cover me up. >> They want to see you. >> Y don't want to see me. They're
tired of seeing me. >> Just got to fill in. >> Okay. My my support broke my heart. I hate I hate doing this. Okay. First of all, I'd like I appreciate the school board for um allowing our athletes to be opportunity to be recognized tonight. Um I want to thank our coaching staff for the dedication effort to our athletes. Coach Shone, Coach Shone, Coach Hatfield, um Coach Hernandez, Coach Pomus, Coach Miller, and Coach Curus. Also appreciate all the high school coaches um helping with our Santa Fe meets. Coach Ryder, Coach Palmer, Coach Abs, Coach Stalin, uh Harrison Shepard, and the Franklin's. Our track meets do not run smoothly, which we know from this year from our little extended track meet, the first one, u without all the help from everybody helping out. So, I really
appreciate all their help. And of course, a huge shout out to our parents for allowing their kids to participate and to support all their track meets. And it's me long nights watching them run. Um, our girls coach, I mean, our girls, um, track team had a great season. Um, our athletes performed outstanding and at the district meet, the seventh grade took second place and our eighth grade took third place overall. Uh there were several individual athletes placing the top uh six places and that's who I'm going to call out. They may not all be here tonight but I want the ones that are here to get recognized. So in seventh grade um and discus was Noble. She took third place. Shotput and u was Noble taking second place. Long jump was Burrito placing fourth. If
hey when y'all hear your name if you're here step out let them see who you are. Okay. Um, triple jump was taking second place was Breurto and she was new at it, so she's a gymnast so it came very natural to her. High jump, we had Scaliz placing sixth place. Davenport took fourth and Butler placed first. In the 2400 meter run, uh, Catrell placed third place. 110 hurdle 100 hurdles, Ferris took fourth place, Staveley took third place. In the 300 hurdles, uh, Bucior placed third place and Staveley placed second. And the 400 meter run was first place was Robin Bailey. And our 4x1 team was Burrito, Butler, Snider, and Bloomer. That was our 4x1 team. We took third place. In the 4x2, we took third place. Bloomer, Bailey, Ferris, and Self. In our 4x4, we
had Bailey, Butler, Carner, and Scaliz. The 800 meter run, uh, Carer took first place. And the mile run, Catrell took second place and Melanie Goodwin took fourth place. And for our eighth graders, I'm long-winded, so apologize. In our discus, Gonzalez placed fourth and Carrasco placed second. And our triple jump, we had Kamada place fifth and Welch placed sixth. The high jump was Luxie placed in sixth place and Ferris took second place. 100 hurdles, Fache took fifth place, Strange took fourth place. >> In the 300 hurdles, Fache took third place and Welch got first place and kept running while the girl beside her hit the ground. But she got kept on going. She didn't look back at her. So, uh, in the 400, Thompson took third place. I did not get all of our names individually
for the um relays for the eighth grade, but in the 4x1 we took fourth place. In the 4x two, we took third place. And the 4x4, our eighth graders took second place. They had a great season. They came out every day. They were committed and the coaches were committed. And that's what happens when you all show up and you participate. So, thank y'all. Face us and take a picture. We will give you a picture. >> Y'all Y'all might want to like squish in like double up like find a window to get in. You know, y'all know how to squat. There you go. Squish in. That's the official term. Okay, girls. Find a window. If I can't see you, you can't see me. Board member. Oh, Dr. spot. There you go. Fine. Yeah. Nice try. >>
She's been wanting to do that for a while. >> All right. One, two, three. Hold on. Hold on. Okay. Got it. All right. >> Come on. Want to get pictures? >> Come on up. Y'all can get up closer, too. >> Yes. Say >> everybody get pictures. >> Congratulations. >> Okay, congratulations. And if you guys will go that direction, we have a medal for you. >> Perfect. Harper. Harper. >> Want my Thank you. >> Good job. >> She She looked at you like, "What are you about to do?" >> Yeah. Yeah, if you want to exit that direction, we'll bring the the next group in this way. >> Okay. Next, we are going to bring in Coach Hernandez, and he is going to recognize our junior high track students, our track boys. >> Come stand on
both sides of the podium for me. >> Hey guys, come here. Face where they are. Move right here. >> Just face the >> Perfect. >> Good evening. I'd like to thank the school board for taking time to recognize our junior high track and field team and uh thank you all for giving this opportunity so that way we can recognize these young men and what they accomplished this season. Our seventh grade team uh came out strong at the district's meet and I think a lot of that confides with our distance running and we ended up fourth overall but within the scoring of the top school in our school was a total of like 30 points. So this seventh grade group is dedicated to uh approaching next year and coming out on top. Our eighth grade group
was very dedicated this year. They knew what they could accomplish and they were in pursuance of trying to win that this year. They came up 12 points short, but they ended up second overall. And uh the dedication of our hurdlers, of all of our runners, our our field event throwers and high jumpers really paid dividends for them to come that close and uh finish in the top two uh where we hadn't been in the year before, but I think that drive that's been coming from them from all season long and and all of our sports has really pushed through and we put a lot of emphasis in our track and field program. I'd like to thank all of our coaches, myself, coach Pomez is not here. This is coach Miller, Coach Curus, and of of
course our high school coaches who dedicate themselves to helping our athletes and our track meets when they need to run smoothly throughout those times. I really do appreciate all the work with coach Ryder, Coach Stalin, Markell, Coach Palmer, and Coach um the Willis also was volunteering for us uh when it came to relay time. He came out and gave up some time and helped us with our all of our team. So recognizing our individual our throwers, Jose Moya got third in shotput. Aruro Rios got fourth in discus. Hudson Brandon got six in long jump. Tyler Benham got third in high jump. Connor Singleton placed second in pole. Our eighth grade fielders uh Riley Morris fifth in shotput. Kyler Tulle sixth in shotput. Uh Kyler Tulle sixth in discus. Case Kle fourth in long jump. Landon
Giannis. Fifth in triple jump, uh, Cooperina. First in high jump. Second in high jump was Brantley Nelson. Fourth in high jump was uh, Luke Mix. And third in pole vault was Jonathan Thornton Wright. For our running events, uh, our 2400 meter run, we took first with Cole Cersei, second with Tyler Benham. In our 800, we took first with Tyler Benham. In our 110 hurdles, CJ O'Neal placed fourth. 400 meter run, Hudson Brandon placed fifth. In our 300 hurdles, uh CJ O'Neal placed sixth. And our 1600 meter run, Cole Cersei placed first and Tyler Benham placed second. Our 4x4 overall finished sixth. Our eighth grade runners, our 2400 meter one was a tie. They finished at the same time was uh Clay Jackson and Luke and Reed Mix. They both got first and Luke makes finished
fifth. Our 800 meter was Klay Jackson. Uh our 110 hurdle was Cooper Tina, first place. Um our 1600 meter run, third place was William Moore. Fifth place was Hunter Wallace. Our 400 meter run, Elijah Barnett placed fifth. And our 310 hurdle hurdler was first with Cooperina. And lastly, our 4x4 last meet of the race. We ended up finishing that on top in front of everybody there. So, it was a good way to get that last minute, last race done and that got us closer to that getting to that title. We will work hard and we will uh focus these boys and what we can do for Santa Fe and we really appreciate the community and the support from our board. Thank you very much. >> Great job, boys. All right, you guys kind of squish.
Yeah, there you go. Scooch in a little bit closer. A little bit closer. >> All right. Okay. Find >> Dr. Bot. >> Taller. Super. >> Always Dr. Bot, >> right? It's always one. >> Don't move. If you want pictures, >> I don't years later. We're going to get the wood shop to make him a >> Hold on. Don't move yet. >> Sorry. Sorry. I'm not like that. >> Okay. >> Congratulations. >> Anybody else? >> Good job. >> Great job, gentlemen. >> Okay, good job, guys. If y'all want to go that direction, we have some medals for you. >> Thanks, coach. Thank you for everything. >> Thank you. Appreciate the job. >> You guys want to exit that direction >> that? Yeah. Bring the next group in. That way you don't get one. >> All right.
At this time, we would like to invite Coach Wolf up to recognize the varsity baseball team. all kids in one night. >> Take off your hat. >> Thank you. >> Face the board for me. >> Yeah, we're a little light tonight because they have something called macho volleyball or something going on at the high school. So, some of the guys are over there playing macho volleyball, whatever that is. Uh, all right. This year we were 15 and 14 overall and seven-6 in district. Uh which is a little not where we want to be most of the time. Uh we had to win our last two games. We got kind of got in a little got ourselves in a hole. We had to win the last two games uh to have a playin game with Angle
on Saturday and these guys came through and did it and they made the playoffs and it kind of preserved our streak that we have going right now which this this makes the 16th year in a row that we've made the playoffs. So this is your 2006 Santa Fe varsity baseball team. there and face a picture. >> We got to do it. >> You wanted to see that hair do. >> Sorry, I'm work here, too. >> Oh, yeah. Perfect. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Can >> take it off. >> Sorry, guys. Can y'all like come in a little bit more? Squish it. >> Might need like a front row. The That's the the ver word of the night. >> Mr. Kelly. Yeah. Could you actually go to this window right here? Yes. That's perfect. Mr. Couch, if
you'll scooch over a little bit, too. Perfect. All right. One, two, three. Keep smiling. Okay. Parents, do we have any parents on pictures? >> No, we're good. Okay. Okay. Congratulations. >> Okay, guys. Congratulations. >> And if y'all will exit that way, we have medals for you. >> Proud of you guys. >> Congratulations. >> Good job, >> guys. Y'all go that direction when you're finished and get your medals. Good job. >> Good job. >> Thank you. >> You want me to stop by the Phillips? >> You've been out. >> Yeah, I was out. >> Yeah. At this time, we'd like to invite Coach Whittington up to recognize the varsity softball team. All right. Uh, good evening everyone and thank you uh for being here tonight as we celebrate these young ladies and their amazing season. Uh,
we finished. >> God dang. My bad. >> Hey, Whit. That comes out of your paycheck, bro. >> It's still working. We're good. Uh, this year they finished with a record of 26 wins, nine losses, uh, record of eight and four in district play. Uh we made it to the second round of the playoffs where we eventually lost to the top ranked team in the second round. Um I'm incredibly proud of this young group. Uh losing six starters last year. Uh these girls stepped up and competed every day. They learned to play together and win together as they were pretty consistent throughout the whole season. Uh with the with such a young group, uh this season gave us a strong foundation to continue building on in the years ahead. And I'm excited to see what the
future holds. Uh we had four girls uh receive first all district first team all district awards. One girl finished the second team all district award. We had three honorable mention awards and we had 11 girls finished with all academic for the district as well. So, uh, give a round of applause to these young ladies. They did a heck of a job. >> Great job, ladies. >> Already sing karaoke. >> Perfect. You guys are professional at this. Perfect. Okay. All right. All right. One, two, three. >> Okay. Okay, >> congratulations guys. You can pick up your medal again. >> Thank you. >> Talking to him. Grab it. Next, we would like to um invite Coach Abshiner up to recognize some of our high school track students. How you doing? >> Hey y'all. How y'all doing? >>
Yes, ma'am. >> All right. I brought with me my uh varsity track team. They if they were here, they either made area track, which is the playoffs, or they set new Santa Fe school records. Um I'll start with the record holders and kind of go from there. So, one of the first records to go down this year and uh we have a new holder, Jackson Smith, 110 hurdles. So he ran a 1415 in the 110 hurdles and broke Chuck Martinez's record of 14.30 in 1987. He's also a state semi-finalist uh runner. I believe he placed four in the 110 hurdles. Jackson Smith. I got these two guys right here. This is Aaron Tackard and Tegan Wina. They're both pole vters. also runners. Uh Aaron Tacker just finished this weekend. He placed number five in state
uh in the state state championship. Tegan Wina, he finished his season at regionals, got hurt right before regionals and put on a unbelievably tough performance. Both of these young men at the South Houston relay set a school record of 16 feet three inches on the pole vault uh which was previously owned by Nathan Williams which I believe that was yes 2023 and he had a 16 foot 1 in and he's still competing in NCAA uh athletics. So sky's the limit right there with these guys. All right, we had some we had we had four girls records get broke and uh we have new owners this year. So the first one we'll do the individuals. This is Ann Lazano right here. She ran a 2568 in her 200 meter dash and that was that broke Dana
Brandon's record in 1983. She ran a 2648. So she owns the 200 meter record. And she also owns the 100 meter dash record. She ran a 12.65 and she beat Casey Davona's record from 1998 and she r she ran a 1268. She likes to argue with me about it too. >> She was also a regional runner. She ran the 200s uh in the state semi-finals. Anna Ozano. And we got one missing from the the ladies set two records on their their relays. We have right here Sailor Stewart, McKenna Castro, Ann Lozano, and L. Evans. She they they broke the 4x1 record that was previously held by I'm gonna go through their names. I'm gonna give them their props. Veronica Hills, Leticia Smith, Kelly Gerard, and Karen Basics. They that was set in 1987 with a
0285136. These girls ran a 50.54 4x1 >> and the same four ladies they ran uh they they won they broke the school's 4x2 record that we broke last year. So it was a 14762 and they broke Anniah Lozano, Trinity Maynard, Scarlett Barnett, and Haley Wither's record that was 2025. And there's just a few missing from our area team. They're all playing volleyball tonight, but uh this is our team. They were excellent. They worked their tails off and uh you should be extremely proud of them. They represented Santa Fe well and they will continue to represent. Most of them are coming back. minus two. It's all right. Keep going. >> Y'all go stand out there and face the audience for us. >> Great job, guys. >> Good job, coach. >> Dr. >> All right. Did >>
you get a stool for him? >> I know. Okay. One, two, three. >> All right. Go ahead. >> Go ahead. >> Any other parents? >> Everybody get it? Okay. Congratulations, guys. If you want to head that way, we've got a medal for you. Good job. Of course. >> Good job. >> Appreciate it again. >> Book my reservation now. >> Sounds good. Okay, moving along. Those were awesome. Uh, Mr. Norman, as you said, when we started the meeting, we have lots of great things happening. So, to hear all those records that have been broke is pretty incredible. At this time, we would like to invite Mr. Manuso up with the Mason's Lodge. Um, he is going to recognize one of our teachers in district. I'm sure you have some other people with you, but I'll let
you introduce them. >> Thank you very much. >> Of course. First of all, I want to say thank you to the board for letting us be here. Uh we are here to honor a teacher uh from Cubet Elementary. Uh my name is Pete Manuso. I'm the sitting workflow master of Serenity Daylight Lodge here in Santa Fe, accompanied by our secretary Rusty Katner, our senior warden and committeeman, uh Cody Carpenter, and our visor. Where'd he go? >> Ron Daly. Uh is here >> and the little one uh >> future right there. >> Yeah. Uh the the one thing I want to we want to do briefly and it won't take a minute. For the ones that don't know about the the Lamar Award, uh Cody's going to give a description of this award. It is the
highest award you can get from a Masonic Lodge in public education. Cody, >> thank you. Uh you may wonder a bit why a Masonic Lodge is making an award today. So I'd like to tell you just a very few things about masonry before making this presentation. I promise I won't talk very long. Masonic fraternity has existed in Texas since before the revolution which won our independence from Mexico. In fact, the official charter for the first Masonic lodge in Texas was carried in Anson Jones saddle bags as he fought in the battle of Saninto. Many of the early Texas heroes were Masons. Sam Houston, Anson Jones, Lorenzo de Zavala, and many others to include Mirabbo Lamar. uh masonry begun in England in the days when mighty cathedrals were being built. The craftsmen who designed those magnificent
buildings and those who built them organized themselves into lodges. Each lodge elected a master to head the group over the other officers to lead it. And those ancient lodges were the beginnings of masonry. Uh that's why the fraternity still uses the square compass plum line and other tools that you see on symbols um used by the stonemasons u for the teaching of fine moral principles today. The object of masonry is to make good men better. It's not a secret organization as some people believe although we do have a few signs of recognition and other parts of our lodge activities which we don't make public. They help bind us together in our common purpose of improving ourselves and helping make our communities a better place to live. The Masonic fraternity is known for its charity work.
As a matter of fact, all the Masonic organizations in the country taken together contribute over $1 million every single day. The fraternity has long supported public schools. In the early days, most lodges were two-story buildings. The lodge met on the second floor and en encouraged the local churches and schools to meet on the ground floor. Many lodges started public schools themselves in their lodge buildings and paid the teachers salaries. The second president of the Republic of Texas, Mir Bo Lamar, was a Mason. He was actually a member of Harmony number six in Galveston that still meets today. He's a Mason and is known as the father of Texas public school system or the father father of Texas education because his work resulted in the state of Texas setting up the public school system. Young people
who are outstanding achievers who overcome personal difficulties or hardships and those who accept the challenge to excel help make our communities, our state and our nation stronger. So that's why we are pleased to be here today to recognize one of our very own in this community. So we had several nominations for this award this year. It was very difficult. This district is blessed with many incredible educators and administrators, but uh we were able to choose just one. Please uh join me in congratulating Miss Hannah Wilson. >> Here you go, Pete. >> Sure. >> If you would do the honors here. >> I'll hold this for a second. >> First of all, congratulations. >> Thank you. Uh it's a great honor to do this to give you this Mayor B Lamar award. This is a emblem
of him which uh like I said was a father of education in this state and >> that is a medal. >> Thank you. >> This is the certificate of showing that. >> Now we've got we've got one more thing for you. So that is that is the Lamar award Lamar medal from uh the Grand Lodge of Texas. >> There's uh something else that we're presenting tonight and that would be a teacher honorarium for you. So and from Serenity Lodge for your work and dedications we would like to present you a check for $1,000. Can we get a >> mind? >> Congratulations. >> I need to know where you bought those shoes. >> Yeah. You like the shoes? >> Yes. Principles. Do we get principles in? No. She's like, "No, I'm fine." >> Perfect. >> All
right. Hey, Dr. Bot want. Perfect. >> All right. Mr. Couch, go that way. Just a little bit. All right. One, two, three. Yeah. The light up shoes are it for me tonight. I love it. Thank you. Congratulations. >> Thank you so much for being here. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Thank you guys. >> Congratulations. Thank you for everything. Thank you. Thank you. Congratulations. >> Dr. Congratulations. >> Congratulations, Hannah. You're welcome. >> At this time, Dr. Bot would like to have you come up and talk a little bit about CAP, our coastal alter alternative education program. >> No. Good. >> And Miss Pratt, you want to join us? >> Miss Pratt and any of her staff that are here, if y'all would come on up. Don't be shy. You got somebody >> y'all come on.
>> Most of you know that our cultural alternative program which has been here in Santa Fe for many years servicing so many kids from throughout the district coming here into this location um through a variety of avenues servicing kids for again a variety of different challenges. And this staff is unbelievable in their attempts to build relationships to find ways to help kids be successful. coming again, like I said, with so many different uh challenging paths and and and challenging concerns. They they are um relentless in their efforts to build a relationship, build a connection, make sure these kids find ways to be successful beyond graduation and post-secondary readiness. And I'm sure, as you know, the program itself is relocating to Dickinson ISD. It's not going away. We will still have plenty of kids from Santa
Fe that were probably going to participate, but the relocation of it at the same time uh is enough for us to recognize Miss Pratt and her team for the phenomenal work that they've done. Worth having you come up here and present you with Is this it? Where she is? >> Okay. Just making sure. Uh we we want we wanted to present you with is just a thank you for your time in Santa Fe because you've done unbelievable job. We watched as you graduate kids. watched as you reached out to kids that um may otherwise have not been able to get as far as they have without y'all. And so we just wanted to say thank you. >> Thank you so much. >> Round of applause for Miss Pratt and their team. >> And so thank
you so much. >> Well, Dr. Bot, don't move. I first uh on behalf of the Coastal Alternative Program, again, I am Ladonna Pratt. Um to President Norman and the board and and our uh community that are here. Um I want to thank you. I hope I don't get emotional. I would just like to thank you personally for uh your hospitality and your committed support uh for the program. It is a Dickson ISD program, but it is a county program. And it took you all uh coming forward 13 years ago uh saying that you could uh house us. and we have been eternally grateful. Anything that we've wanted uh and needed if the kids have broken something uh you all your staff has been phenomenal. I wish Mr. Harold was here because he is a legend
in our hearts forever and ever. Mr. Harold and many of your staff and so we would like to present something to Dr. Bot and you all as well. >> Dr. Bot. >> Oh wow. Yours is nicer. They call us me extra. But anyway, it says, "Thank you, Dr. Kevin uh secretaries, but she's now a teacher and I support teacher, Miss Lana Jordan, who is the the the legend. She is really instrumental in us getting those students graduated once we go through the transcripts and just like we we really work hard to get them graduated. And this is Miss Lana George. Where's her twin? And this is the same face. This is Miss Laura Horn. She was formerly my secretary. She's now my parah instructional parah. And then Miss Jessica Guzmarker is our brand new teacher
that joined us and is doing a phenomenal job. The big guy. This is coach Lorenzo Murphy. He is our PE and our behavior teacher. And then our brand new secretary, Miss Dana Taylor. And so this is a CAP team. Oh, who? Oh my goodness. This here, this is our social studies teacher and and one of our leader teachers, Mr. Benjamin Biddle. Is that everybody? >> Thank y'all so much. Thank you so much for your support. >> Thank y'all for your service. >> Thank you very much. >> Appreciate Thank you. Appreciate everybody. >> Thank you so much. All right. >> No, you don't have to. You're fine. >> Okay. One, two, three. Keep smiling. >> All right. Got it. Thank you. >> Thank you guys. Appreciate it. >> Great job, guys. >> Thank you very much.
>> Thank you so much for everything. Thank >> you. Bless you. Thank you. >> Appreciate you, brother. >> Thank you, ma'am. Thank you for everything. >> Thank you. Of course. >> Thank you. >> Okay. At this time, we'd like to recognize our employees of the month. And if you are in attendance, if you will come up to the podium when I call your name. From Barnett, we have the fifth grade team. Miss Kabuki, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Blackwell, Mrs. Keller, and Mrs. Mcwarter. From Kubichek, we have Jamie Nichols. Come join me. Jamie from Wulm. We have Jill Schultz. All right, you guys take a picture. >> Bridget, I'm sorry I confused your two departments. >> Congratulations. >> Great job, guys. >> Good job. All right. Perfect. Thank you, Mr. Grassmuck. All right. One, two, three. It's May and y'all have learned I just learned a long time ago. Don't take my eyes off of you. >> Congratulations. And you guys, if you'll exit that direction, we have certificates for you. >> Congratulations. >> Going out with a bang. >> Great job. >> That's our evening. >> Thank you, ma'am. Okay, next uh we will move into our public comment on agenda
items. Board of trustees will hear public comment on agenda items at all open meetings in accordance with Texas Government Code section 551.007. Public comment on non-aggenda items will be heard at regularly scheduled board meetings in April, August, and December per our policy. And tonight we have no one that has signed up for public comment. So, I'll pass that on to Julie and we will move on to our information items. Dr. Bot, what do you have for us tonight? >> We had the quarterly investment report, but we didn't have an update. Is there nothing changed? Let's get something >> specific to add to it or sir. >> Did you have any questions for Mr. Sanchez on the investment report? >> Yes, sir. >> And that's all I have. >> Okay. Next, we will move on to
our consent agenda. You have several items on our consent agenda. >> Yes, sir. We have minutes and accounts payable. We also have some of our uh employee benefits and renewals. These are these are annual annual series of coverage. Uh we have some donations. And we have the resolution for the superintendent to have hiring authority over the summer uh in attempt for us to uh recruit staff a little bit more expeditious fashion. >> Mr. President, make a motion that we approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Second. It's been moved and seconded that we approve the consent agenda. Any other questions or comments? >> Not cast your votes, please. And it's passed. Thank you very much. Thank you. >> Okay. Next, we will move into our regular agenda. The first item we have tonight is a
resolution between the Santa Fe ISD Board of Trustees and the Santa Fe 10 Memorial Foundation for the location and construction of the Santa Fe 10 Memorial. Mr. Mr. Grassmuck, you have been our liaison now for the last couple years on this uh from the board to the Santa Fe 10. You have anything that you would like to say or add about this? >> No, I mean this is nothing more than a a two-year extension to the previous agreement that had a two-year time frame on it. Um the fundraising goal wasn't met in the two-year time frame. And according to the original resolution, if the fundraising wasn't met, it would come back to the board for consideration of an extension. And here we are for an consideration of an extension. They should have the money in
the next few months. And we'll be breaking ground and moving forwards as soon as we approve all the final details. But this is nothing more than an extension of the agreement that we already passed two years ago. >> Okay. Anybody have any questions concerning that? All right. I will entertain a motion to approve that. >> Mr. President, I'll make a motion we that we move to approve and the resolution between Santa Fe Board of Trustees and the Santa Fe Tim Memorial Foundation as presented. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and seconded that we approve the resolution between the board and the Santa Fe Tim Memorial Foundation. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. And it's passed. Thank you very much. Okay, next item is a remodel of the Kubichek uh security
vestibule. Mr. Wheeler. Good evening everyone. Kubach Elementary's current vestibial configuration presents minor security vulnerabil vulnerabilities that could be addressed through targeted remodel. Updating the entry space would strengthen the overall access control and enhance the school's security posture. To ensure the remodel is completed in time to start the new school year, it is critical that all work take place during the months of June and July. Meeting the narrow timeline requires the use of job order contracting to expedite delivery and maintain efficiency. The maintenance and operations department has successfully partnered with generosity services on similar fasttrack projects in the past, making them a reliable choice for this effort. Create Architects and CMTA have developed the design concept and construction drawings and will remain active through the project moving forward. I see Casey, I do have a question
for you. You're you've reviewed this, you've looked at it, your staff has looked at it, and I assume you're thumbs up with this. >> Very good. I got a question. >> Do we do we know the approximate cost of >> Yes, sir. I do >> for this. >> Yes, sir. $154,980. >> Okay. >> It is in the It's on board. It's in Mormon. >> Okay. And uh was there was there any concerns about the uh the uh the square foot area between the the front door and the the next door? Do we feel like we've got it uh we've got that adequate adequately covered? >> Yes, sir. We're actually adding to the current vestible configuration. We're moving the door back 44 in. >> Yes, I I saw that. >> Yes, sir. >> I was I
was just questioning uh did we consider even moving the front door out further? >> Um >> the front door itself out to closer to the road. >> Yeah, >> that would require heavy modification and uh change to the actual structure of the building itself. Uh, the only way we could do anything is move the vestibule door back and we moved it as close as we can that still keeps us when the ADA compliance. >> Okay. Very good. I was looking for some type of explanation. That was a good one. >> Yes, sir. >> So, I appreciate it. Thanks. >> Absolutely. Thanks. >> It's your pleasure. I move to approve the generosity services as the JOC to remodel the security vestible Kubichek Elementary at a at a price not to exceed $154,980. >> Second. >> It's
been moved and seconded that we approve this security vestible remodel cube check. Any other questions or comments? And cash your votes, please. This passed. Thank you, sir. Okay. Next, you have a our pest control services contract. >> Absolutely. Uh Santa Fe solicited bids for annual contract for pest control services to support the district district's integrated pest management program for the 2026 2027 school year uh fiscal year. Uh renewable annually for four additional one-year terms by mutual consent. The current contract expires on June 30th, 2026, and the new contract is scheduled to start July 1st, 2026. Santa Fe ISD received bids from multiple vendors and has selected Bugwacker LLC as the best valued bid for the district at a price not to exceed $38,000. >> Mr. President, I'd like to move that we approve the annual
contract for Budwacker to provide pest control services at a price not to exceed $38,000. >> Second. It's been moved and seconded we approve the uh pest control contract. Any other questions or comments? Cash votes, please. And it has passed. Thank you, sir. Next, you've got the groundskeeping services. >> Yes, sir. Uh Santa Fe ISD. These are going to sound very repetitive. So, uh Santa Fe solicited bids for annual groundskeeping services for the 2026 2027 fiscal year renewable annually for four additional one-year terms by mutual consent. The current contract expires June 30th, 2026, and the new contract starts July 1st, 2026. Santa Fe ISD received bids from multiple vendors and selected Hoardare LLC as the best value bid for the district at a price not to exceed $160,96. Groundskeeping services for stadiums and fenced in areas
will still be maintained by the maintenance and operations groundskeeping staff. You mean you don't want to go back to the old days where you spent like three times as much time and three times as much money to do the same job? >> I like where we're at now. >> Like we're at now. I move to approve the annual contract for Horiculture LLC to provide groundskeeping services at a price not to exceed $160,96. >> Second. Okay. >> It's been moved and second that we approve the annual contract for the groundskeeping services. Any other questions or comments? And cast your votes, please. And it is best, sir. All right. Now, you've got your custodial supplies. >> Yes, sir. Santa Fe ISD solicited bids for annual custodial supplies for the 2026 2027 fiscal year renewable annually for four
one additional one-year terms by mutual consent. The current contract also expires June 30th, 2026, and a new contract will scheduled to start for July 1st, 2026. Santa Fe ISD reviewed and qualified each proposal and determined that the best value contractor for custodial supplies are Clean Supply Company, Right Lane Cleaning Systems, and Innboro Packaging Corp. I recommend approving these vendors based on individual pricing for each product they provide. The best value contractor for each individual product will be utilized for their respective product, allowing Santa Fe ISD to receive the best value for our custodial supply needs. Do these come via FedEx? >> These these were these were all FedEx. Absolutely. >> Thank you for taking the time to go through these and I know it it would have been a whole lot easier for you to
go with one person and order everything from one person and it' be a whole lot less headache for you. >> Yes. >> But you're saving people money by doing this. Absolutely. >> And I appreciate you doing the extra work. >> Thank you. I move to approve the annual contract for clean custodial supply right lane cleaning systems and inner burough packing corp to provide custodial supplies at a price not to exceed $155,000. >> Second movement uh second that we approve these uh custodial supply contracts. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. And it has passed. Okay. Next, you've got your solid waste services. >> Yes, sir. Santa Fe solicited bids for solid waste services for the district's bulk trash and animal waste for the 2026 2027 fiscal year renewable annually for one additional
one-year terms by mutual consent. The current contract expires June 30th and will start on July 1st, 2026. Santa Fe ISD received one bid from Aware Inc. and they have been selected as the best value vid valued bid for the district. Excuse me. >> Mr. President, I move that we approve the annual contract for America, Inc. to provide solid waste services at a price not to exceed $71,184. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and second that we approve the contract for America for solid waste services. Any other questions or comments? >> Just one quick question. >> Yes, sir. >> Was was there a particular reason why we only got one response? >> No, sir. We solicit bids. We put them out. We run all bids are ran uh through public notification, right? We reach out
uh via email to vendors in the area. We did have uh three companies came. I walked with companies around. I showed them where the locations are. >> They never submitted a bid. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Away has been our provider for the last several years. >> Yeah. >> I renewed them in the 2019 2020 school year. Yeah. >> Um and since then they their business has grown a lot. They've have they have Dickson ISD, Alvin, City of Santa Fe, City of Dickson. So, they've had great support so far. So, only only getting one bid wasn't an issue uh for me. >> Okay. Thank you, sir. >> Any other questions? Now, would you cast your votes, please? And it is passed. Thank you, sir. I believe that's all of them for you. >> Okay, Mr.
Sanchez, you've got a few now. The first one is our workers compensation carrier. >> Yes, sir. Good evening. Our current contract with DP East Texas expires on June 30th, 2026. Um, they are our main provider and they have been a partner with us since the 2018 school year. Um, they have been a great partner. They have provided a lot of resources for the district to use and to decrease our worker compensation claims while also providing all the support necessary for those who have actually been injured on the job. We would like to ask the board to please consider renewing our contract with DP's Texas to self- insurance workers compensation uh for the 2627 school year at a price not to exceed $147,854. It's your pleasure. >> Mr. President, I move to approve deep East Texas
Selfins insurance fund as Santa Fe ISD workers compensation provider for the 2026 2027 school year not to exceed 147,854. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and seconded that we approve the workers compensation uh insurance. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. It's passed. Okay. Next, uh you want to resend the approval of a bus purchase. >> Yes. Um we had brought the board a purchase for a school bus um through our uh one of our vendors. Uh it was international. I believe it was a couple of months uh ago back in March when we brought it to the board. Um the total cost was uh not to exceed $184,875. Since then, one of our vendors has been able to uh provide some buses on the lot. So they're on the ground
uh international would uh be providing us a bus, but it would take at least 365 days. So we're looking at a years out. Uh recently we had TCEQ um who is one of the uh sup I guess uh they're overseeing one of the grants that we utilized uh to purchase some of our buses and they had subsidized part of that uh those purchases and they came in here to check on uh the status of the buses that we had purchased. Unfortunately, one of those buses was the one that we lost at uh uh earlier this year when there was an accident. because of that they have been putting a lot more pressure on us and having the bus delivered a lot sooner. So, we're asking the board to rescend the purchase of that additional bus
and allow us to work for uh um finding another u bus provider. Now, this agenda item is asking for the board to provide their basically their input on rescending that purchase with uh international and then the next agenda item that I will present will include the purchase of this process. >> Mr. President, I move to resend the previously approved purchase of the 2026 International Cool Bus. >> Second. >> Okay. So, I moved and second that we rescend the previous purchase of the 2026 International School Bus. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. And it's passed. Thank you, sir. All right. Now, you've got a couple for us to purchase. >> That is correct. Um, as we spoke last time, there is a need for our fleet to be upgraded and we are
looking at ways to do this. Um, unfortunately, we did have an accident which made us start looking at the replacement of a bus a lot sooner than than we had originally expected. Um, however, with the price of insurance or the reimbursement from the insurance and some additional funds that we were able to basically move around from the transportation budget, um, we are asking the board to allow us to purchase two buses um, in an amount not to exceed $360,000. We are working with several vendors u but we are looking for somebody who has the the the wheels on the ground so that we can actually obtain access to the buses as soon as possible. >> Mr. President, I move that we approve the purchase of two school buses based on the recommendation of administration not
to exceed a total of $360,000. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and second that we approve the purchase of two school buses uh not to exceed that amount. Any other questions or comments? Not. Would you cast your votes, please? And it is passed. Thank you. All right. Next, we've got some copier services. >> Yes, sir. So, the next two items are related and uh we are asking the board for us um well, for the board to allow us to renew an additional year with our multi-function printer provider who is at this point platinum. um to allow us to basically meet the same time frame for our print shop printers and our multi-function printers so that when we go out for bid we can actually use that as a negotiation tool to obtain a lower
price on those machines and keep us all at the same schedule. So we would like for the board to consider and approve the renewal of the multi-function printers at a cost not to exceed $125,000 for the following year. What's your pleasure? >> Mr. President, I move to approve the district copier services agreement with Platinum Copier Sharp for the second year of a 36-month lease at a monthly lease cost of $5,83748, which is $70,49.76 annually. plus $3,000 per month for unlimited black and white copies, $36,000 annually and 0.0395 per color copy. The total annual cost is not to exceed $125,000. >> Mr. Grassmark, I'd like to correct you. It's not the second year. It's the third year. And I do apologize. It does state that on the agenda item. Oh, so it's a thirdyear notice. >>
Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Second. >> Y'all get it. Julie's got it. She knows. >> Okay. It's been moved and second that we approve the district's copier service agreement. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. And it has been approved. Okay. Next, you've got the print shop printer. >> Yes, sir. Um, now the print shop printers are actually expiring. The contract is expiring on June 30th, 2026. Um, if we do not extend the yearly lease, we would have to go out to bid. The only issue with that is that it would be off schedule with our current multi-function printers. We believe that by aligning both types of printers, we can actually negotiate with vendors at a lower price. And we are hoping to be able to do that and negotiate with our
vendors. However, we do need to schedule them at the same time. So, we are asking the board to allow us to uh extend the u print shop printers uh for one additional year uh in order for us to be able to align those with the multifunction printers and then we will go out for bid the following year to allow us to be able to negotiate with our vendors that way. I move to approve a one-year lease extension for the print shop printers for the fiscal year of 2627 not to exceed $33,342. >> Second. >> Okay, it's been moved and second that we approve this one-year lease extension on print shop printers. Any other questions or comments? I cast your votes, please. And it has passed. >> Thank you. >> All right. Thank you, Miss Harris.
We've got the revisions and additions to the district of innovation plan. >> Yes. Last but certainly not least, the very exciting district of innovation plan. um really and truly um to not not to go through every single one of these, but basically we had over this last year a um policy audit to help us look at um what areas we might need to be um what areas might need to be revised. Our district of innovation plan had been adopted in 2017 and it had carried a lot of innovation plans within it all the way from 2017 till now and we never took them off. So it would it kind of became like a little Christmas tree where we were just hanging our new whatever we needed on there. And there was a lot when it
says um to that when I'm asking for you to consider the revisions to there's a whole bunch of things that have been removed but it's basically because policy or law either has granted it without an innovation or we we are no longer allowed to. So for instance um Shaq they said you can't use as an innovation so we took that out. Um there's things like that. Now, the biggest one and that and so that's kind of what I was teasing that we really do want to add to our um district of innovation plan that's very important to I know the principles in this room and um is the ability to uh revoke a student transfer in the event that we have um excessive discipline absences or poor grades. Uh so currently the law andor policy
states that if we accept a student transfer in um we must keep them for the duration of um at least one year. Um but with limited open enrollment um we would prefer to write this innovative innovation to that law and policy that says that yes we're going to work with kids and parents and all of those things but in the event that there is excessive discipline attendance or poor grades then we would um be able to revoke the child's um enrollment in the middle of the year. And so we we we have written that and DEIC and principles have approved that. And so um if there's not any other questions, I would like to um ask you to approve the district of innovation the re the removals, the revisions and the additions to the district
of innovation plan. >> Mr. President, I move to approve the changes to the district in of innovation plan. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been moved and second that we approve these changes to the district of innovation plan. Are there any questions or comments? >> Just a quick comment. Uh yeah, I just want to thank Miss Harris for going through all the minute details on this and keeping things clean and I think the board really appreciates the uh the attend the uh attendance change for the uh for for the uh minrollies out of district. So, thank you. >> Thank you. Appreciate it. >> Any other questions? If not, would you cast your votes, please? And it has passed. All right, that is it for our regular agenda items. So, we'll now move into board communication. Um,
Miss Lambert, do you have anything you'd like to add tonight? >> Just a bunch of thank yous to all of you. I know that we're right here at the end of the year and when I look back at where we've come over the last couple of years just with being able to make things work due to finances, there's not a single person in this room that did not contribute to making that happen and you guys have had to make pennies stretch super super far. So, thank you so much for trusting us and thank you for working with us on it and uh congratulations on a really great year. >> Mr. Rasmote. >> Okay, I got a lot so I'll go fast. Um, CAP stood up here a while ago and said thank you, thank you,
thank you to all of us. And as a board member, if you don't ever hear anything about CAP or transportation or anything, that means cuz it's doing really good and I've been here for eight years and I've never heard anything about CAP. Nobody's complains about CAP. So obviously it has to be going good or I would have heard about it. So, thank you CAP personnel and Dickinson and everybody else that played a role in that. Um, I I don't know if if our community realizes it as much as we do or even if we even forget sometimes, but Blake, what did we miss the cut for? Six players. Six. Six. Was it six? >> We are 5A by six kids. We are the smallest 5A in the state of Texas and we got kids crushing
it in every sport. We've got kids doing phenomenal. I I it says a lot about what our kids are doing to be the smallest 5A in the state of Texas. Um, uh, Alex and your team, thank you for everything y'all pull off. Um, my gosh, I mean, every year we think, how are we going to make it through this year financially and somehow or another, y'all find a way to get us through it. Um, great job to y'all. Um, I don't know how much you had to do with the attendance rate going up lately, but I appreciate the attendance rate going up because that makes a big difference in money. Um, it's been an awesome year. I'm glad we have a week left and everybody can get a break. And say a prayer tonight for
everybody that's having a tough day um, from eight years ago. So, >> thanks, sir. Mr. Dport, you have anything to add? >> Yeah, along the same lines of what they just said, um I always go by um nutrition and transportation at the first and last of the school year and and what you hear besides a few little things in transportation. Great job from that. Um in 10 years that I've been doing this, junior high always has chatter. Um Sarah, this is the best year that has been the least amount of chatter for the junior high. So >> that is that is a tough age group. Um and don't get me wrong, the elementary as well, y'all ladies have done great. And Nicole, you've done wonderful as well. Congratulations on your first year here with us.
Thank you for being here. Congratulations on your last year being here with us. Michelle, um y'all's service for each one of y'all at y'all's campuses is I words cannot express what we what we are so grateful for for y'all. Gina Welsh, congratulations on your nomination. Um, super huge. So, um, do we know when that's going to be coming out? >> 27th. Best of luck. So, congratulations on that. Um, and, um, like like uh, they've all said, the the money situation, and I made a joke, y'all heard me say something about FedEx earlier um, to the the folks in the finance department. So, thanks for uh, catching some things. And Corey back in the back. Thanks for uh being part of the technology cyber stuff that went on with that. I'm glad we don't have 40
cases of tonal runaround. So, >> Mr. Kelly, you have anything to add? >> Uh yeah, it's along those same lines. You know, just thank you all for what you do. Um thank you to Dr. Botner's leadership and Julie for making it all happen on on his side and to the campuses and departments. I mean, it's all you guys and your and your staff. I mean, we look good up here because of all of y'all. So, thank you for what you do. You know, this is police department. I mean, all the the the good findings we have. I mean, that says a lot for everybody like Eric and James, Angie said. I mean, it just you're doing a phenomenal job for what you have. So, thank you. >> Mr. Couch, you have anything to add? >>
Yeah, I would echo the same thing. Uh, just in general, a really, really good year. um both from a economic standpoint in terms of running the district and squeezing money where we've had to do that. The board and uh the administration, the teachers have made a lot of tough decisions, but uh I think it's paid off. We've done just an excellent job around attendance and I want to thank all the teachers and administration for that. And u um you know, I think our our test scores are going up too. It's it's it's just a win-win for everybody when that happens. And uh I I would like to remind everybody that uh you know it was it was eight years ago whenever May 18th uh happened and we we had the tragedy at the high school
and uh we've had uh eight years of things being relatively safe and a lot of hard work by the administration, the teachers, the board, especially the chief and and his officers And I'd like to thank everybody for that. And the la my last thought is uh um this country um there's a 250 year celebration and uh uh since 1776 and uh the country was founded on and there's there's been a re real rededication uh uh uh for this country to recognize its roots and its foundations back to Christianity and uh uh God himself. And uh I just want to remind everybody that uh that was a lot of our history and this nation has prospered for a reason and uh that is the reason and other than that thank you. >> Thank you sir. Dr.
Bot, you have anything else you'd like to add? just echoing the comments of the board. >> Echoing the comments of the board and uh genuine hearts and prayers with thoughts and prayers with with the families of May 18th and anyone involved in that. Um I know that it's been eight years, but um there's obviously a lot of people still trying to to move forward. And so I just want to thank Miss Seabbok and and all of our staff for just really continuing to help with that and and foster good positive relationships with everybody involved so that so that we can get this memorial built. I want to thank Mr. Grassmuk and the board for all their help and support with that. It really is a a an honor to work with these principles and directors.
Our our principles just work unbelievable miracles with with these kids and with our teachers and staff, especially in the last week of school. My gosh, it's like they lose their minds and uh we find a way to herd the cats. And so I really do just want to thank principles and directors for all the hard work that you do. Bye, Miss Porcho. We'll see you later. Um you've done great work. And um if you're involved in graduation this week, just want to say it's going to be okay. We're going to figure it all out. Umbrellas and all. Um, it's going to be okay. They will graduate and we will get them. They will move on. So, we're going to figure it out. But, thank you'all for a blessed school year. Appreciate everything. >> I think
what I just heard you say is these folks work very hard to make you look good. >> That's not >> Oh, I think if you listen, the common denominator across up here tonight has been the word thanks and thank you. and we could sit here and individually run down and be hours talking about all the things that we should be giving thanks for and thanking you guys for. Uh so I'm not about to do that, but just know that your efforts not go unnoticed and are very much appreciated. And I was extremely impressed with the number of events that I've been able to go to recently with various awards and graduations for the little ones and these type things across campus. And there's just the the mood is great. Everything is is very uplifting and
positive. And I know that starts with a lot of hard work from the people sitting in this room and your staff. So, we very much appreciate that. And I I start off in August and September telling everybody we're here for a new one. And in the blink of an eye, it's over. And the blink has happened. And here it is, May. and we're we're right there at that probably the toughest week of the year for some of you to to keep uh everything together. But we appreciate those efforts and uh looking forward to you guys getting a little time off to to recharge your batteries this summer, those of you that get that and the others to start planning for next year and doing all the things that you do. So appreciate it very much.
>> That I'll entertain a motion to adjurnn. >> I'll make a motion to adjurnn. >> Second. It's been moved and seconded that we adjourn. All those in favor raise your hand. And we are adjourned.
