So this year, of course, our very own Heritage Elementary School was recognized uh on the honoral list of Texas top performing schools. So we are here to recognize again uh the folks over at Heritage Elementary uh because of the results based on the 232 uh five um academic years. So if we can have Miss Alisente come up here and receive a

recognition. Give her a big round of applause. Thank you. >> We have a little We have a little gift for you and I don't know if you want to say anything. >> Well, no, just thank you to to everyone for your support. Um, this is actually the second time we've been recognized um for being on the honor roll and again we just have really amazing teachers that give it their all each and every day, amazing students and the support of our community. So, it's just an honor to continue to lead heritage. >> Thank you. >> Congratulations. Oh. Okay, move moving on to our uh next item which is the recognition Bombberger superintendent. >> Mr. Board President, our students have had the opportunity to attend overnight camps at Bombberger Ranch where they learned about the conservation

of land, ecosystems, and nature. These experiences were provided at no cost to the district through the generosity of Mr. Bombberger. The administration would like to pay tribute to Mr. Bombberger in recognition of his support to the district. We have Dr. Ebon with a presentation. >> Good evening. Welcome. >> Good evening. Um, I wrote it down. Good um good evening board uh President Hernandez, members of the board of trustees, superintendent Ramirez and Southside community. Um Mr. Bamburgger passed away last month on the 17th. So when I mentioned that um a lot of people wanted to express their their feelings and Mr. Ramirez um suggested that we should also rec recognize him. So I want to say thank you to uh for the opportunity to honor the legacy of Mr. Bamburger, a man defined by his hum,

humility and selflessness. As the executive director of the ranch said, um, Jay David loved to share the ranch preserve with visitors, especially children. his commitment to welcoming kids from title one schools is un uh in underserved communities did not waver and we will carry that impactful commitment forward. So our partnership with Mr. with the Bamburger Foundation has been transformative. Over the last 3 years, the foundation has provided providers uh district with average of $22,000 for the kids to come and stay there. Um ensuring that Southside students can experience the ranch firsthand. Southside is proud to formally recognize Mr. Bamburger for his unwavering support of our students and our entire community. Please join us for a brief presentation showcasing the incredible growth and learning our students have experienced through this program. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Feel

the feel. So uh this is situation where each campus gets to go with 30 students. So that is just like one campus. So we go the next week and we go the next week and we mean I get to go too and I always enjoy being there. Um, so in deep appreciation of his lasting bond, we are proud to present the banner and a gift basket to Miss Kayla Krueger on behalf of Bambburgger uh branch and preserve. Thank you for the continued dedication to our students. She's the actual teacher. I don't know if you notice her in there. She's the teacher. She does all the hard work. >> Yes, that's amazing. Thank you. Um, I told I told Dr. Ebug I might cry a little. Um, I want to thank y'all. Mr. Bamberger purchased the

ranch back back in 1969. Um, children and education wasn't necessarily the mission. He just started work in stewardship and conservation, but that quickly became the main goal. So, thank you so much for this partnership with Southside ISD. Um, when I say like my heart is full when y'all come, I am being serious about it. Like I love serving your kids. I love your kids coming to the ranch. Please don't stop. keep sending them. Send more. Um, thank you all so much. I really appreciate it. >> Thank you very much. >> We have the students who went this year. They signed along somewhere. >> Thank you. Thank you so much. Good evening, Miss Monales Garcia. Miss Lan, can you let the record show that Miss Modales Garcia has joined us? 660. >> Thank you. Okay. Uh,

moving on to uh, new business. uh first items discussing consider approval of purchasing three VRNAVR nursing sets of eight for combined amount of $90,480 with technical laboratory systems incorporated. Superintendent >> Mr. Board President administration is requesting approval to purchase virtual reality nursing sets designed to support student learning through immersive simulated clinical scenarios. This equipment will allow students to practice clinical decision-making and patient care skills in a safe controlled environment. We have Mr. Ferron and Mr. Garza with a presentation. >> Good evening, gentlemen. Welcome. >> Good evening, board president, Mr. Hernandez, Superintendent Mr. Rides, board members, staff, and members of the community. The purchasing department is requesting authorization to approve a purchase of three virtual reality nurse assistance VR nursing set of eight at $29,270 each uh in the in the total combined amount of $90,480

with technical laboratory systems through the TIPS cooperative contract and I have Mr. Mario Mario Federan present to provide additional information. Thank you. This equipment will expand students access uh to realistic clinical scenarios uh improve uh competency based instruction and reinforce industry uh certification preparation. The total cost of 90,480 uh will be procured through the technical laboratory systems in accordance with district purchasing requirements. >> Great. Thank you, Mr. Fon. Any questions? Misser, >> so looking through the paperwork, I didn't see the amount of the jet grant. Do we have a number for the jet grant? >> Uh, yes. And it's uh 300 what we received is $339,000 >> and we have a match amount of 5% uh which it's up right around 18 u $18,000. Thank you. Any other questions? Okay. Thank you. At this time,

do I have a motion for approval of item number one? >> I'll make a motion to approve the purchase of three VRNA VR Nursing sets of eight technical laboratory Systems, Inc. in the amount of 90,480 utilizing the JET grant. I second. Great. Thank you. Uh Mrs. uh Salazar makes the motion. Mrs. Silva second. Um Mr. Olivarees. >> Yes. >> Miss San Robles. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Faras. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Morales Garcia. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Salazar? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Silva? >> Yes. >> I just un yes. Motion carries. Uh moving on to our next item which is discussing consider the approval of purchasing eight hospital four rail beds and eight head wall package deluxe 36 in for combined amount of $99.6. 62528 from pocket nurse on the byboard cooperative contract number 704-23. Superintendent

sir board president administration requesting approval to purchase instructional equipment for the nursing classes through the jet grant. The requested equipment will support hands-on learning and enhance instructional opportunities for students enrolled in the nursing program. We have Mr. Garz and Mr. Federal with the presentation. >> Thank you again. Uh, so this is a request to purchase eight hospital four rail beds in the amount of $29,600.96, eight head wall package deluxe 36 in uh in the amount of $64,24.32 including shipping fee of $6,000 in the combined amount of $99,625.28 with with pocket nurse through the byboard cooperative contract. And I have Mr. Mario Fon again present for additional information. So once again, Southside ISD was awarded a jet grant to enhance the health science program uh with industry aligned clinical training equipment. The grant provides uh eligible

entities to purchase and install equipment necessary for the development of career and technical education uh courses that lead to a licensed certificate or post-secary degree in a high demand occupation. Thank you, Mr. Fon. Any questions? >> I do have a question in reference to shipping. Do we know when the equipment's going to arrive? Is it going to be this school year or summer or >> I don't have that. Do you have any information on the lead time? >> U we don't we don't have a current information on the lead time. Okay. Okay. >> But the last time that I spoke with a consultant, uh it it's pretty much they said it depends on on our procurement uh how fast we we go about the procurement of the items. Uh it usually is about like a

two week uh uh lead time for for those items. >> Awesome. Great. Okay. >> Thank you. question is is the uh jet grant being used for other services that are needed for the students. The jail grant that we applied for this year is specifically for health science. Uh typically every every year we apply for for a specific program of study. Uh this year we applied for for health science. >> Okay. So the grant was for um 339 and if you add both of those items the total is 190,000. So where's the rest of the money going? So st if if in talking to the high school, there's a percentage that's left for any additional costs as far as any kind of uh resource that's going to be used for those classes in addition to any

other needs that they may need. So they left a little bit of money to have that discretion to be able to use it for whatever reason it's needed. >> Okay. So So but but it's only for the health >> only for the health science. >> Okay. Thank you. >> So if if we um if we go through is there is there a time frame to spend that money? >> There is no uh timeline for for the Jed grant. Uh we do have to send quarterly reports to the Texas Workforce Commission. Uh but but there's no timeline, sir. There's no deadline. If I may, uh we're in collaborations and discussions on putting together specifications for uh mannequins for the students and that's going to be an RFP process. So that's going to be a future expense,

but we're projecting to issue a request for proposal. >> Great. Yeah. I just want to, you know, it's it's a great grant, it seems. Um so just don't want to lose the money, right? And so want to be able to stay on top of it to make sure that we are spending through it. >> So it's nice. Um my only other question was in regards to the beds. Uh, do the kids have beds today that they use or? >> We do have beds, but they do not have the the features that the modern features that hospitals have now. So, that they're a little bit uh dated and and for the the current uh um skills that they need to learn uh for hospital uh scenarios, uh they require different different beds like more modern equipment.

>> Nice. Thank you. Any other questions? No, I I just want to make a comment. I I think this is wonderful that we can do this and congratulations on on getting the grant. >> Agreed. >> Okay. Uh at this time, do I have a motion? >> I'll make a motion. I'll make a motion to approve the purchase from Pocket Nurse and the total of $99,625.28 utilizing the Jet Grant. >> Thank you. Uh Mrs. Salazar uh makes the motion. Do I have a second? I'll second. >> M sles seconds. Mr. Solivarees. >> Yes. >> Mr. San Robles. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Faras. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Morales Garcia. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Salazar. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Silva. >> Yes. >> I just hear. Yes. Motion carries. Thank you, gentlemen. Appreciate it. >> Okay. Moving on

to item three, which is discuss and consider approval of the 2026 2027 academic calendar. Superintendent. >> Mr. Mr. Board President staff developed three calendar options which were presented to the district educational improvement committee the DEIC for review. Upon approval the calendars were released for vote to district staff and the community. And we have Mr. Castillo with the results. >> Good evening again, Mr. Castillo. Welcome once again. Good evening members of the board. President Ernes, Superintendent Ramirez. Uh at the end of the fall semester, the district set out to create three proposed calendars for board approval through uh different committees. Each calendar committee uh was composed of representatives from each campus to include at least one teacher and all of the departments. Representatives looked at past Southside calendars as well as those from surrounding districts, got

input from their campuses or department, and took an active role in creating a new proposed uh set of calendars. We finalized three calendar choices to present to the DEIC for a vote as well as for Southside employees and the community in the form of surveys. Today we present the overall summary of the three proposed calendar options and the results of the surveys for your consideration and approval. So here we have a screenshot or a u a picture of uh option A. We have option B and option C. Now I don't mean to go through them. I will have a comparison uh that will better uh give us an opportunity to look at three calendars side by side. So here we have the calendar comparisons. As we can see uh calendar A beginning in the in

the in the uh what I'm going to do is I'm going to go through the months and see what the differences are. Uh in the month of August, calendar A had the first day of school at being in August 10th, calendar B August 11th, and calendar C August 12. For the month of October, they were pretty much the same for the exception of calendar C had a professional development day on the 12th, giving a holiday on a Friday and a Monday for Columbus Day. In the month of November, uh the only calendar that had a uh other than the Thanksgiving break, a uh a recognized holiday was uh calendar A with Veterans Day on November 11th. All three calendars had the same winter break. All three calendars for the month of January had Martin Luther

King Day as a holiday. In February, we do have a difference. In calendar B, we see that um only uh uh only they had uh February the 15th of Feb uh which is President's Day. Calendar A uh um did not u calendar A included February 12th through the 15th and calendar C had also February 12th through the 15th. Excuse me, I'm going to use my glasses. Sorry. in the month of March. There we go. Uh the spring break is all the same for the exception of calendar B. Calendar calendar B had Friday, March the 5th as a professional development day. For all three calendars, the Easter breaks were the same, meaning that they had Good Friday and the Monday after Easter off. In the month of April, that's when we have our star ELC exams.

Uh we only have the battle of flowers of which is April 23rd for uh the month of May. The last day of school for option A was uh May the 21st. For option B was May the 21st with 3 days of PD after the last day of school. That's for the staff, the teachers. Calendar B had also the last day of school as May the 21st with four days of professional development after the last day of school. And calendar C had the last day as May the 26th with only two days of professional development um after the last day of school. Calendar A had 170 days. Calendar B had 172 days of instruction and the calendar C had 173 days of instruction. So y'all ready to see who won the survey? So um the overall

majority voted for calendar C. We had parents, community, and staff vote from February 3rd through February 11th. And here's a breakdown. We had a total of 1,482 people participate in the voting. Again, this was uh sent out to both uh community and staff members. Um option A got 39% of the vote with 572 votes. Option B got 15% of the votes which had 229 votes. and option C had 46% of the votes with uh 681 votes. So we are here for you all to consider these three options for your final approval. Any questions? Questions for Mr. Costillio. Have a couple of questions. >> So um in regards to the number of votes uh what's what was the breakdown between community and and staff? the uh between the community and staff um we had 709 staff

members and 773 parents or community members. >> Okay. And do do you have a breakdown of the votes from staff and community? >> Yes, I do. I actually have slides if you'd like to uh look at them. >> Great. >> Yes. >> You have a question? Yeah. Go ahead. >> So, how did how did you get this information out to the parents because I didn't see anything on the website or is this school? >> We got it through our blackboard through our uh phone messaging system. I know that uh Miss Science and the and the media department uh communications department I should say uh took an active role and I know the latest push that they did was uh this morning. Yeah. >> So we So we we had it we had constant reminders. I

saw it over the weekend on Super Bowl Sunday, you know. So uh I know it did go out. So I do have the breakdown uh from staff. We had 709 votes. Um option A had 160 votes which was 23% of the vote. Option B had 106 votes which was 15% of the vote. and option C had 62% of the vote uh with uh 437 votes. Would you like to see the the parent? >> Yes. >> Okay. The uh the community votes had um option A has 53%. With 406 votes, option B with 123 that's 16% and option C 244 votes which was 32%. Thank you. And then could could we put back Is that the last slide? >> Yes, that's the last comparison of the three >> the the the schedule. I'm sorry. The >>

listed the list details >> there. Right there. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Uh any other questions for Mr. Castillo? >> Sorry. C can you again just cover the the differences between A and C? The difference between A and C is that uh calendar A had only 170 votes where I mean 170 instructional days. I'm sorry I was caught up with the votes. 170 instructional days and uh calendar C had 173 instructional days. That's uh you can see that at the very bottom. Um the difference between calendar A and calendar C in in regards to the start time would be that um calendar C starts August the 12th which is a Wednesday and calendar A starts um August the 10th which is a Monday. We also have uh an additional holiday for calendar A on Veterans

Day. and they pretty much in February have the same days. Um March they have the same days. That was calendar B. That was different. I guess that's why nobody really liked that one. Um and um we had uh the end of the school year for students is May the 26 for calendar C and May 21st for calendar A. That's the last day of school. Everything else is pretty much pretty much the same. M >> Mr. Castillo, my only concern is on calendar C. What is our attendance like on the Memorial Day Monday? >> On Memorial Day >> in May. >> That's the uh last week of uh >> May. Well, we don't have school that day. >> Yeah, >> traditionally we have not had school >> past. >> That would be the last Monday of

the month. >> But you're taking it out to May 26th. >> I think it's the 29th. Is that right? >> 31st is memorial day. >> If if we looked at calendar C, that would be Memorial Day would not be part of >> it's on the >> Okay. So, it's falling on the 31st. >> Yes. >> Okay. That was my only concern because I know that that's a poor attendance. >> Yes. >> Got it. >> Yes. Now, if if uh going back to the differences between uh options uh A and option C, you can see there the last day of school would be a Wednesday. Uh for option C on on on May the 26th, then the teachers have only uh two make up two PD days. Whereas option A uh it would end on a

Friday and then the following week they would have to come in the teachers for three professional development days. >> We do have >> weather weather days. >> Weather days we have enough minutes within our our uh calendar to contend with uh weather days. >> How many? It gave five days for calendar C and two days for calendar A. Yes. >> Okay. Right. >> So we would have more wiggle room with uh calendar C. >> Did I know other districts are probably still in the same process as we are but did we look at all neighboring districts? What? >> Yes sir. >> Which calendar more closely aligns? Well, we we coincide with the major holidays with uh north side, northeast, uh San Antonio, our our local ones, our neighbors, and the south side. We we we

do. >> I have a question. >> Why is there a reason why staff chose calendar over calendar A? I >> I mean, I I would want less working days, so I'm just curious. >> They're probably thinking of the STAR and EOCC. it has more instructional days. So, they're probably doing it for that reason. Also, um we frontload more professional development days as opposed to having like an option B, we had uh four like practically the whole week of PD at the end of the school year where in option C it's only two days. >> And for the professional development days after the students already leave, what are those used for? Because some of the teachers aren't guaranteed to come back the next year. it it uh well we would uh look at uh uh curriculum

uh re revisions or um you know planning for the following year >> and but usually by that time we know who's coming back who's not coming back >> but there's still time set up in the beginning of >> Yes ma'am >> next year. >> Yes ma'am. >> Okay. >> So if we look at calendar C that actually gives uh the teachers more days for professional development. If we look at uh August the 3rd through the 11th, those are professional development days for our teachers. So teachers uh like I said, we frontload our PD days in option C for our teachers. So they have more time to plan and I know that's usually a concern, prepping the room, getting ready for meet the teacher, all those things. >> Any other questions? Mr. >> No, I just

have a comment. I mean, looking at the difference between on the between the votes for the staff versus what the community says, um, that's my concern is what the parents are asking, >> not so much. It is important what the staff says, but I think we should also consider the community if you know what they're asking, >> especially with child care. >> Yeah. But I I'm kind of stuck because I understand the extra days how we have that cushion especially for uh when there's days that we have bad weather or something. But I don't know. I'm just curious how everybody else thinks, you know, their thoughts about the calendar seeing the difference between >> I have an additional question too. Um do we know a breakdown of the parents that are per grade level? Because

I know sometimes high schoolers and middle schoolers have a little more wiggle room. They they're more capable of they're they can watch themselves as the little ones need like a babysitter. Um or they might have to find alternative plans. I'm just I'm curious to see how that worked out as far as the results that we got per grade level. >> We didn't do it by grade level. Uh I could check um but I do not believe we did it by grade level. We just did it whether you're a parent or a staff member. >> Okay. I don't think we've done it by grade level before. >> So, uh my comment would just be um you know, one from from um from a weather perspective, it's nice to have additional days, right, to be able to

make make those decisions and not not having to to take from somewhere else or or make them up, right? Because then that puts an additional burden, I think, on parents. Uh and and it's always a not one of one of my least favorite times when I get a phone call about whether right and whether we're cancel school or not or >> trying to figure that out. >> Um so so it's nice to to be able to have that flexibility. Additionally, I mean to having three extra days of instruction um and considering the progress we've made and and it's a great opportunity uh to be able to have additional instruction uh and and um just seeing all that blue in August, right, where staff can can really get ready to kick off the school year, right?

And I think >> it's highly important. I I I hear about that often and the importance of that from from folks and and uh being able to have that dedicated time before the kiddos get here, right? Because once the kids get here, it it's, you know, game time and and you got to start working on that and and starting practice into what what uh you've been prepping for uh during that time. Um so because of that, I think I I would be in favor of of u the option C. Um, but again, that's that's my my two cents. >> Okay. Any other comments? >> I agree with you. It's a later start for our kids, so it and it allows it allows some cushion room for if anything did happen. So, I could support that.

>> Yeah. >> And and I know I know I cognizant of of the the input from the community and then the child care as well. I just trying to balance, right? I think it's And I understand that's why I wanted to get an idea what the rest of the board felt on it. I mean, it's kind of hard because I get it as an employee. I've been there and so I understand that, but I also we have to recognize how the community feels and what they're voting on. Um I am leaning more towards the extra days because I understand the importance of it for for our students and also when something happens, we have that cushion. So, it's just >> and to Brenda's point, we are representatives of our parents. So, I totally get where

you're coming from. >> So, um just a a different question more on the timing, the the middle school time, the 8:18 start time, is that that >> Yes. So, part of the uh representatives that from the departments was uh the transportation folks and even our police officers there. So looking at the traffic is, you know, sometimes you can get a little congested here in the compound specifically or down at Manaka in the mornings. So um that uh the the traffic and the uh bus routes. Uh so we were looking at um it was recommended by transportation and the police department that we go with those times. Okay. >> Any other questions? All right. At this time, I'm going to make a motion to approve the 2026 2027 academic calendar option C. Do I have a

second? >> I'll second. >> Okay. Mrs. Olivarez, >> yes. >> Mrs. Robles, >> yes. >> Mrs. Faras, >> yes. >> Mrs. Morales Garcia, >> abain. >> Thank you. Mrs. Salazar, >> yes. >> Mrs. Silva, >> yes. Yes. Motion carries for option C. >> Thank you, sir. Okay. Now, uh we'll go ahead and move on to item four, which is discuss and consider approval of a quarterly board uh evaluation. So for for my colleagues on the board in your packet, you should have a copy of the quarterly evaluation. Any comments before we kick this off? Okay. Okay. The the last time we did uh our evaluation was in September of 2025. Uh for item one, provisions and goals. Uh number one, the board has adopted student outcome goals. Uh we were at a meet focus which

was a 12. Uh so all member all board members and the superintendent agree that the student outcome goals will challenge the organization require adult behavior change are influencable by the superintendent and are the superintendent's first priority for resource allocation and the board relied on a root cause analysis comprehensive student needs assessment or similar research base to to inform the identification and prioritization of all student outcome goals. um and to be able to gain uh the master's focus. Uh we were at um we had two of the three which was have committed to the vision and student outcome goes to memory and agree there's a broad community ownership of the board vision student outcome goes to involvement and communication with student staffs and community members. Uh and then the item that was pending was know the

current status of each student outcome goal. So, any comments in regards to this goal? Any recommendations? >> Okay. I um from my perspective, I I think we're still at a meets at 12. Um I think we're still working on the student outcome goals. uh for I think we we we know the student outcomes but I don't know that we have that as part of our day today. >> Is there any way we could pull the sheet on our screen so we can follow along with the audience at home? >> Um do do we have that miss Len? >> Do you all have the board program? It should be titled targets. on the post. >> September 17th. Last time >> sent to the board. >> Oh, sorry. I thought she was talking about last time we

did it. >> That's what I was looking for. talking. >> I misunderstood. I thought it was >> Did we get it going? >> Okay. And you can go to the next slide. >> Will it let me work it from here? >> Okay. So if we can go to goal number one the first the first right after this one. Perfect. Thank you. Um actually uh it's the one before that right there. Perfect. Um okay. So, uh, as I mentioned, I was going over the goal number one, which is the board has adopted student outcomes goals, and we were at a 12, which is what you see there that Miss Lu has highlighted for us. Uh, it's what the from the September board meeting where we were at and um my comment was that I think we

are remain we should remain at the the meets 12, but I was opening up for comment. I agree because we haven't finished that last one yet. >> Any other input? >> So, Miss Lan, that will remain at 12. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Uh, next next page, please. Okay. Uh, this one is item number two, vision goals two. The board has adopted goal progress me measures aligned to each student outcome goal. Uh at the last meeting we were already at the master's focus which is all board members and superintendent agree there is broad community ownership of the goal progress measures through involvement and communication with students staff and community members. Any proposed change to that? All right. That will stay with Ryan. Thank you. Uh moving on to number three. Next page if we can.

Thank you. The board has adopted uh constraints. We were at a meets focus uh which was a nine. The board meets meets focus if all prior conditions and the following are true. Uh the board has adopted one to five board self- constraints. The boards were approp where appropriate relied on a root cause analysis comprehensive student needs assessment or similar researchbased tool to inform the identification of and prioritization of the superintendent constraints. and all board members and the superintendent agree that the constraints will challenge the organization to focus on the vision and uphold community values. Uh to move on, bear with me to move on to the master's focus. Um the board uh in collaboration with the superintendent has adopted one or more theories of action to drive overall strategic direction and all board members and

the superintendent agree there is broad community ownership of the constraints through involvement and communication with students, staff and community members. >> Any thoughts, comments? >> Oh, go ahead. No, I thought you were going to say something. Uh it was presented by Miss Olivaris at the town hall meeting and uh it has been uh presented to staff and in other meetings that we've had >> the theory of action. >> Thank you. Any additional input? >> So the recommendation would be to move to master's focus. >> Yes. >> Any comments? Are we >> are we do we so as part of the constraints though are we still are we there >> involvement and communication because we are I guess with the meetings >> in the meeting it's on the slides >> okay >> and it's read by

board member so it's all documented on there >> so I would just challenge in regards to I don't know if that's what you're referring to in regards to the community I think this is a community based goal or community based item Right. That's what I felt like it was. Maybe I took that one. >> The the first one is for for the board, but um the second one is in regards to community ownership of the constraints >> for the town hall community. >> It is. And and so I would ask my colleagues if we feel that that's sufficient. >> I think it is. >> I feel like we could do more, but that's just me. My concern is only the last like I think we're there but just that last little one. Maybe we're because

it talks about the ownership >> of it. So I think we we're there. We're close but I don't know. >> 9.5. >> Yeah. >> I guess for me because I was at the meeting and and the u miss and miss Silva was there also. your thoughts? >> No, >> I have no thoughts. >> I'm good. >> I feel that our community might not be as familiar with the theories of action yet. >> Right. And I feel the same way. I I feel that that is hasn't really been put out there. >> I think if you go into different neighborhoods or if you ask different groups of people, they're not going to understand that. >> Even staff. So now explain it more detail. >> I think we need to be uh a little more proactive in

uh attending things and getting out there and talking to be explaining those. >> On that note, I also feel that we need to be more proactive about advertising it because it brings the same group of people and often a majority of our town halls are staff. >> So that's true. >> Any other comments? No. >> Okay. Um, we're going to stay, Miss Luen at a nine. >> We're getting there >> for sure. >> We're getting there. >> Uh, moving on to number four. Uh, the board has adopted superintendent constraint progress measures. We were uh last time at a master's focus five. Uh, any proposed changes to this? >> No. >> Okay. Stay there, Miss Joanne. Um, next item, uh, progress and accountability. The board invests at least half of its time to improving student outcomes.

Uh, last time we were at a meets focus where 25% or more of the total quarterly minutes in board authorized public meetings were invested in improving student outcomes according to the time use tracker. And to shift to the master's focus, uh we were at we would need to be at 50% or more of the total quarterly minutes in board authorized public meetings were invested in improved student outcomes according to the time use tracker. Do we have the we're not there yet at the bottom? No, >> we were at so it doesn't have the percentage there. Uh, if I'm not mistaken, it was 23% on student outcomes. Is that correct? >> Yes, sir. it has the the 12% and the 88%. When we went back to check uh the calculation showed that 23% of the time

was spent on student outcomes from the last uh evaluation period to now. >> Okay. >> So then that means that we would be dropping to four >> a four approaches four. >> Any comments or input on that? All right. Okay. Moving on to the next item which is progress and accountability two. We can move move uh the slides to one more please. There you go. Uh for this one uh the board evaluates but does not in does not interfere with progress towards improving student outcome. Uh the last meeting uh review we were at approaches focus which was a two uh which was the board performed self-evaluations using the LOSAR governance integrity instrument performs a self evaluation no more than 45 days prior to the most recent superintendence evaluation and evaluates the superintendent part on the

result and progress towards the student outcome goals and constraints using information within monitoring report according to the monitoring calendar To shift to meet focus, the board receives at least annually a report on the average cost of staff time spent on governments using the staff use tracker and that's what we have here. And then one quarter ago, the board performed self-evaluation using the launching government's integrity instrument and voted to approve the quarterly progress tracker. >> Yeah, did that uh was it last? I move forward. >> I think it was two months ago. And as far as the time that staff spend on uh on assisting with the board packets, that's the sheet that you have in front of you. >> 12 to four. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. >> So, we're doing four on that

one. >> Um >> we're doing five. So, I'll go over to five now. So, so we we I think we're already at we we now met the four, but I'm I'll go over five now to see where we're at on that. >> All right. >> So, for master's focus, the board unanimous unanimously approved the current quarterly progress tracker. has not modified outcome goals uh goal progress measures constraints uh CPMs or targets using the psycho applic to the superintendent annual evaluation and consider superintendent performance as indistinguishable from system performance by evaluating the superintendent on only results and progress towards student outcome goals and constraints using information in monitoring reports and according to the monitoring calendar. So Mr. Will you confirm? I think it was unanimous, right? That >> the last vote for the progress tracker, it

was unanimous. >> Yes, ma'am. >> And then uh we did not have not modified any of the goals. >> No. >> And then we do based on the evaluation, it's all based on the the student outcome goals. >> That's correct. >> Yeah. So, I think we are at a five. >> Okay. So, >> we've mastered that one. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Sounds good. >> Any additional feedback >> or concerns with moving to a five? >> Okay. It's a five, Mr. Yes sir. >> Okay. Moving on to system and processes. The board operates in a way that allows the superintendent to accomplish the vision. Uh and the last time we were at a 15 master's focus. Any discussion or um requested to shift from that. >> Okay. >> Questions. And then uh moving on to the

next one which is advocacy and engagement. Um the board promotes the vision and we were at a one preparing to focus to focus which was the board has a two-way communication system in place where board members and at least once per year listen for and discuss the vision and values of their students and listen for and discuss the vision and value of their staff and community members. uh to move to approaches. The board has provided time during regular schedule board authorized meetings to recognize the accomplishments of it students staff regarding progress on student outcomes and goals. I think we do that and then uh host a committee meeting to discuss progress towards student outcomes goals within each feeder pattern with low performing campuses during the previous 12 months and we've done that as well. >>

Yes. Um and then uh to go to meet's focus, the board displays and keeps updated the status and targets of all student outcomes, goals, and GPMs permanently and publicly in the room in which the board meeting is held. And we have those in the front here to my right. Uh and then has co at least one training on lowar lonear governance for its community during the previous six-month period. >> We have not done that. Yeah. So, >> so some more work to do there, but we will shift to three on that one. >> So, we're at three. So, and just for commentary on that one to move to to masters, then it would be one for the community, but then if we follow up and and include students, we would be able to shift to

to the um masters as well pretty pretty easily just for >> you know when we done I know when I've done the couple of the board things that and I think Mackie did too, we did mention to the community that we are doing loans aren't governance. So they're aware of it. I know the last meeting I did mention we just don't go into what it's about, but we have brought it up just to let you know. >> We're getting there. >> Yeah. Okay. Moving on to the next item uh for synergy and teamwork. The board works collaboratively with the superintendent to lead towards the vision and we were at a master's focus 10. Any discussion or or thoughts on keeping or changing this? We good with keeping? Okay. Okay. That will stay the same, Mr.

Lynn. And that will conclude the quarterly tracker. Um, Miss Lan, would do you have the >> Yes, sir. I have 78. That's correct. Okay. 78. Is that >> Yes. >> 74. >> 78. >> I got 78. We can run through our numbers. Um, >> I have >> I got 76. >> All right. So, I have 12 15 9 5 4 5 15 3 10. >> Yep. >> And that's >> I'm sorry. I You're right. >> So, it's 78. >> So, progress and accountability, we went down to a four. >> Yes. From a 12. because and that was just the maths on the the student minutes. >> So overall from the from the last review we went down a total of three points where we went from an 81 to 78 >> 78 And it's important

to say that we only missed the 12 by 2%. Great. We'll work on that. Any additional comments or discussion before we move on? Okay. Thank you all. Okay. Uh, at this time I will make a motion to approve the quarterly board self- evaluation. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Miss Faras. >> Who second? Mr. Salazar. >> Miss Faras. >> Uh, okay. Um, Mr. Olvarez. >> Yes. >> Mr. Angles, >> yes. >> Mrs. Faras, yes. >> Mrs. Morales Garcia, >> yes. Miss Salazar, >> yes. Mrs. Silva, >> yes. Yes. Motion carries. Okay. Uh at this time, uh the board will adjourn to a close meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.074 to consider the following. Item A, return to Texas Government Code 551.071, consultation with legal counsel regarding

obtaining professional legal services. Item B, Texas government code 551.074, discuss superintendent evaluation and contract roles and responsibilities. And item C, pursuant to Texas government code section 551.0 074 discussion with regarding board member duties, roles, and responsibilities. Uh the time is now 7:11 p.m. and we will be going into executive session. Thank you. Okay, good evening everyone and uh welcome back uh from uh our open or our executive session. Uh we are returning to exec uh to open meetings. The time is now 10:01 p.m. and we are out of uh close session. At this time, uh, we will not be taking, uh, any action in regards to the superintendent's evaluation and contract. So, no action on that item. And we will be moving on to the the next item. At this time, I'm going to be

uh making a motion that we move to approve JCA Law for Professional Legal Services as the highest ranked firm in response to RFQ-26-002 and authorize the superintendent to negotiate and execute a contract with with the firm. At this time, I'll make the motion. Do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Miss Lisa Alisar second. Mr. Olivarez, >> yes. >> Miss San Robles? >> Yes. >> Miss Faras? >> Yes. >> Miss Morales Garcia? >> Yes. >> Mr. Salazar? >> Yes. Mrs. Silva, >> yes. >> I just unan. Yes. Motion carries. Uh, at this time, I'll make a motion to adjurnn. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Miss Alisar seconds. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Okay. The time is now 10:02 p.m. And we are adjourned. Thank you, everyone.
