001or somebody getting his GED. >> Okay, we are live. >> I used to teach teach GED at night. >> I did for a little while. >> How you doing, Conor? >> I Where are you going to be this time next year? >> Nice. Yeah, that'd be gonna be a doctor. >> It's all good. >> Doctor You want me to text him? >> Good for you. >> I could text him, but >> I only have the Back at you, buddy. >> It's not him. >> See this reflection? >> Yeah, that's that's the most people we've had in a long time. >> Talked to a lady about um the elementary. She was really excited. >> She's lost >> I know. Well, I was guessing 58. So you did kind of break my >> Oh, yeah. >> I
002know. The GED retiring. >> So that was u >> I know. >> They were excited about drinking the car. I'll drink it afterwards. >> Yeah. So I I was pleasantly surprised. No, I do not. My laptop disconnected from >> um I'm sure those guys over there do. >> What's that? >> Password to the network here. >> Is there just a guest one? >> I just use the guest one. a student temp maybe. >> Right. There's one that just says guest corner. >> Booted me out. >> Yeah, it doesn't require password. >> People used to steal my thing. >> I'm not I'm not on my computer. >> I was Like what do I say? >> Yeah. Okay. >> Just do SSSD. >> That one require That one requires a password. >> Mine it doesn't. >> I
003saw that. >> Oh, it does have a lock on. >> Excuse me. I know. I did that when Briggs was >> Hey, Greg. >> You know what the password is for SSSD? >> Sorry. You usually go through and >> I don't he he it should he should be able to log in >> to you should be able to log in just your normal login >> your uh the password does >> right >> it should just be your regular login dang it >> can you log in like you're logging into school >> now usually it wouldn't have a lock and just allow me to like get to the page when I log in but all of these require passwords none are like the kind where I can click in and then have to go to a
004page and sign in How do you how do you log in at school? >> Yeah, we're going to go to the browser and I can go in there or number four doesn't require a password. >> So, we'll do public input first. >> Yeah. >> About eight years ago, I could have told you. >> I don't know what they've got it at now. >> I've never gotten this page before. I was just on it earlier today. >> I got no do community. I think >> you have to stick to six. >> Got a second. I'll go find a >> somebody. >> No, >> I was just on it this afternoon. >> Oh, go back to use that back arrow. >> Go to the community. Click on community. It'll take you there. >> This one? >> Yeah.
005>> It's like doing a weird thing though. Just >> you're you're left clicking. Got to go on the other side of your mouse pad. >> There you go. All right, >> that's it. >> All right, we want to welcome you to the uh South Summit Board of Education meeting uh dated May 11th at 6 PM. We appreciate the audience and and uh our robust attendance. Um and maybe we should honor more people so they come. So I just I'm really happy you're here. Uh so welcome. Um we'll start off with uh uh oh just to be noted that the uh all the board members are here and attended. We'll start off with the pledge of allegiance. Uh superintendent will lead that. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and
006to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you, Superintendent. Um, board member Wilson, would you mind reviewing the vision and mission statement? >> Yep. Vision statement. South Summit School District valuing individuals and preparing them for success. Mission statement, we support, empower, and inspire individuals to promote and achieve academic and character excellence. Uh, thank you. All right, moving on to the next item of agenda. Um, we do have one person here for um public input and that remind me again, Miss Darcy. >> Miss Darcy, that's your turn. >> Thank you for letting me talk to you for a second. My name is Terrina Darcy and I live here in Chemist. I'd like to talk to you about arts in the valley. I first want
007to thank you for the district's support of the Cameas Valley Community Foundation's first ever arts festival. Happened at the middle school last month. Attendance was unbelievable. Uh we had people parking blocks away. For those who attended, it was community building. We enjoyed delightful art pieces from the youth and children who attended were very engaged in the hands-on art creation side of the evening. The performance art by the children was delightful >> and it was character building for them. They saw youth um didn't realize that there were so many professional musicians and artists in our belly. I think there were many adults who didn't recognize that either. Uh I helped in the quilt department and the ladies, most of them who were retirees spoke of the excitement they felt as the youth walked down the halls
008and wanted to know how they could learn to do this. We are learning math geometry. That's exciting. I think the compilation of art from every age group and every category really was community building in a way that I have not seen nor have I experienced before and it is because I want to see that happen again that I come before you today. I want it to become future building. I want to talk for a minute about art. In the educational data initiative of 2025, the subject of scholarships was itemized. You probably already know this, but only 2% of high school athletes receive NCAA sponsored scholarships. 2%. Almost double that amount. 3.7% of music students receive scholarships. Just in the music department, 2.7 billion in sports scholarships are awarded nationwide, but double that again for music.
0095 billion are awarded annually to just music scholars, and that does not include art. There is a 70% better chance to get a scholarship in general arts than the chance of a sports scholarship. I'm not here to criticize the art the athletic dedication in our district. Athletics is big and it's already well supported. What I'm here to do is remind this body that music education correlates with higher test scores in math, sciences, and English. Math improves cognitive function in memory, attention, and social reasoning. Students of music achieve higher ACT scores and students of music are typically one year ahead of their peers academically. Overall, there's better school attendance, goal reaching, and higher engagement in academics when there's music involved. I would like to ask this board to consider placing a greater emphasis in the performance
010art and music on some level. I know when I was here, Mrs. Duke taught ukulele. I still don't play ukulele very well. Mr. Lake taught band and choir. And at one point, these classes were not optional. It was due in part to these efforts that our school had an award-winning senior high marching band and choir. I believe it was because we engaged these children early and repeatedly in their middle school years. I want to again give a kudo to the school for the arts fest for seeing the vision of creating a demonstration of the performance and visual arts departments that showcase so much talent but also encourages the depth of ensuring community engagement from grade school to elderly. Everyone in this community felt part of this success. I only hope that you'll be willing to
011co-host again next year and promote it throughout the year in your curriculum. I want to end with this quote. The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that didn't exist before. I would ask that this body consider that for our children, continue the efforts that are growing, and help expand the opportunity for more children to realize the creative yearnings of their souls. I think we'll find out it pays off in the end. Thank you for your time and consideration. Thank you. >> Thank you for your time, by the way, in putting that together. It's wonderful. >> We've uh >> Arts Fest, >> we've had great progress in our music department. Um I
012was just able to attend the last band concert. He talked about starting with 48 kids three years ago and is now over 100. So, it's it's making progress. So, we appreciate it. Thank you. Um uh just just to note um we did have another person that was scheduled for public input but they they had withdrawn because of uh family and so she couldn't make it. So um we'll invite her back at another time. Um we're going to rearrange the schedule just a little bit. We're going to move up our GED graduates. Um Mrs. Lambert, if you could come and introduce the people that are graduating. Well, I can introduce two of them. >> Okay. Two of them. And you can name the others. That's great. >> I brought pictures of >> Oh, that's perfect. >>
013You want me to sit? >> However, it's easier for you. >> Probably fall down if I don't. >> Okay. Definitely. Then sit. >> So, these are two of my fabulous graduates. This is Shay and this is um Emerson. She's from Park City. They found out how Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. >> Surprise. >> That's Trevan. He uh Sheay attended South Summit. He would have graduated in 14 >> 15. Emerson's from Park City because she heard how awesome our program was. >> And South Summit. >> Very good. And then we have these other people that didn't come, but this year instead of five like we had last year, we have seven. >> Fantastic. >> I'm very proud of these guys. They were very motivated and we had a good time. >> So glad. >>
014Do you have any questions? >> Any questions from the board? >> No. I I recognize Sheila. She was in my middle school. >> Congratulations. >> Thank you. He was a good student then. >> What's next for the three of you? >> Um, I am planning on going to massage therapy school in July. I'm looking to get into like fascial massage and the lymphatic drainage. Um, I would like to open a spa that's specific for women, women's health, and this would be the beginning of it. eventually go to like the Chinese medicine part of it and just kind of help women in general health. >> Fantastic. >> Um I'm going to SLCC for nursing in the fall. >> Oh, fantastic. >> Great. >> Congrats. >> Thank you. >> And whatever decides to come my way is
015where I'm one step forward. That's all it takes. Just keep going. >> I think you all deserve a round of applause. Thank you. >> Thank you. Should we get a picture? >> Yes, I think we should. >> Okay, >> stay up here. We need to get your picture. >> One picture. >> We'll do We'll have you guys just stand right in front of us. >> You always jump up. >> Okay, I'll stay with you. >> Come on, Conor. >> Young Republicans right here. >> Yeah. Hold up your poster gun. She will smack you. She knows I'm kidding. >> Peek around. >> Thank you. Congratulations, you guys. I'm excited for you. >> Thanks, Deb. >> Oh, whoops. No, >> get that out. >> All right. All right. Okay, we'll now move on to student board uh
016member recognition. Um Connor, who has been our faithful member uh for the last last year. Um we we do offer scholarships to our student board members, some incentive for them to join us for this uh year and he's attended almost every meeting. So, we appreciate you coming and uh um we want to just recognize everything that you've done and and your comments about SuperSummit. >> Oh, thank you. Uh it's about the end of the year, so we're beginning to wind down with end of year events in both uh the student council and NHS. >> Yeah. >> Uh including the senior dinner, which we are planning to hold at Sterling Steakhouse. uh we managed to get an offer for over there and we're pretty excited to see it come to fruition. Uh another another thing is
017that uh we've decided to forego doing a prom this time instead of for opting for a senior and junior lagoon trip as in like the theme park down in Salt Lake. >> Yeah. >> Um and finally, what what else? Oh, yeah. We've also uh begun finishing up our AP exams. This is our last week of them. I've done about like seven of them myself. >> Wow. >> Good job. >> I have been busy these last few weeks. Absolutely. >> We look forward to your graduation as well. >> Um and then we just want to also uh honor Sa Sammy. Uh she was not able to attend this evening, but uh Dan has been gracious enough to present her scholarship at the high school um >> event on Wednesday. So, um just want to acknowledge them
018and appreciate what they've done. Um also want to acknowledge the uh Silver Summit Sterling Scholars. Um there were three uh people that presented at the uh the that event. Connor uh was in the general scholarship as well as August Napolei. >> And is she here? >> Napoli. >> Is are they here? >> Is any of them here >> Besides Connor. just >> okay the teacher that was the advisor. >> Okay, good. >> Oh, Wendy Moss. >> Wendy, thank you. >> Great. >> We appreciate your effort. It's a lot of effort to coach the kids and to help them in this process. Um it takes a lot of effort and then we also want to uh recognize Stephan Richie and he did the science. So we want to say congratulations and uh we're glad that you
019uh participated. It's a great opportunity. Um, all right. Uh, third on the agenda. I want to turn the time over to Greg to dis to share with this. >> So, so next um we want to acknowledge we'll have her come forward. >> She knows who she is back there. No, but um Amanda Monaco um was uh nominated. We nominated her um as the school nurse of the year for the state of Utah and she was selected. >> Wow. And um and it was a clear it was a clear-cut win. And um and so we wanted to one acknowledge that accomplishment for being the the statewide school nurse of the year and just express um appreciation and gratitude for the work that that Amanda does that she that she provides to our students and and our
020schools and our families and um and uh and she does so with a smile even at 610 when >> after a long work day >> after a long workday she's she's always smiling. and just whatever it takes to get the job done. And um you know, she has a lot going on in life as a as a mom, as a as a wife, as a daughter, and everything else. And so she she just finds a way to make the the magic happen for for us uh in South Summit. So we're lucky to have her and and just appreciate everything that she does. So it was really fun when we were at the conference. She had no idea. And >> in fact, she had people pushing her out of her chair, telling her to go up
021because she had no idea. >> I saw him move her hand out in the hole and he said he was at a conference and I was like, "Oh, we should have driven together." Like >> not knowing that you were getting there award. >> Well, congratulations. That's really great. >> I was at the conference. It just >> So, it was it was a lot of fun. Stephanie and I were able to go down there and and recognize her. So, >> first of all, congratulations. >> That's an honor. Appreciate All right. Um, moving on our to agenda. We just want to recognize those retirees from the district for all their effort. Um, well, I'll let Greg introduce those. >> Okay. Um, so in no particular order, >> as you can see. Yeah. and and as uh as
022I call your name, if you'd come up um it'd be great to get a picture with those employees um all at once. And oh, Amanda, don't leave. So, we we should get a picture with Amanda as well. So, um, so Paula Carlson, 26 years, >> Dean, Dean Dean Evans, 18 years. >> Jay Griffin, 23 years. Sherry K. Levit 29 years. Now we're moving on to the 30 plus years with no judgment because wow >> they started when they were yeah 11 or 12. But um Sandy lot with 30 years. Maryanne Merchant, 30 years. Chad Peterson with 30 years. And Tona Patfield, 32 years. We uh >> got two more. >> You got two more. >> Page two. >> Ken Wilkinson, six years. >> And Kim Woodard, 30 years. appreciate all of the years of service
023that they've given to our community, to our students, and uh the just the hard work and dedication. It it's amazing to think of all of the experience that is standing up here. >> That's true. >> Um it it uh it's it puts you in awe as far as the the amount of experience that um that uh we have retiring. So, if you guys want to come over here, it'd be great to get a picture. >> You can go in the back if you want, >> especially you tall people. You're not a tall people. >> Come right here. Come right in front of us. Can you get us all done? Good. >> Okay. >> Hey, thank you. >> Thanks you guys. I think every single one of you impacted my kids lives. So, thank you. >>
024It's about 200 years of service there. >> I know. I wasn't going to say, >> Amanda. Yes. >> And then after Amanda, we want to get a picture with uh >> Wendy and Connor. >> Sorry, Wendy. >> You got to be in the picture. You can choose if you want Mr. Grinder in it. Also, >> congratulations. >> Thank you so much. That was so great. >> I'm so excited for you. Thank you. Very honored. Wendy. >> Hey, Wendy. Mr. Grryer, come on. You come on up. >> All right. Okay. Thanks, Don. Thanks you guys. All right, >> that cleared the room a little bit. >> That was uh fantastic. We >> Oh my gosh, it was so great. >> It's uh great to honor those individuals in the district that have put so much time
025in. Um all right, we'll move on to >> superintendent items. >> All right, my goal is to be shorter than Adam's tonight. So, >> but uh a couple things, you know, we've occasionally it we have things uh diligent. We've talked about it before. It seems like two people can't be in at the same time and sometimes things drop. So, one thing that um we'll bring back uh in June because it didn't make it on the agenda and I was out for uh bereavement leave the last part of last week um are the mission and the strategic plan. So, we'll bring those back uh in June for your consideration. Um I don't know if anyone had any feedback, but uh that's something um we'll bring back. As far as a vision update, um as uh as
026we talked about the potential vision statements last month, you guys as a board wanted to make sure and include um administrative voices in giving input. So, we've discussed uh different vision statements uh as an administrative team and then tried to take all of that information and distill it down into a statement that isn't too terribly long. Uh so, you have a few different uh ideas in front of you. Certainly aren't the only ideas. Um if anyone is interested, there are copies back in the back of the room. Um, but just obviously it's not something that uh is to take action tonight, but at least wanted to give you an update as far as where we were at and based on um on input from from uh administrators. So, I don't know if there's any there
027that resonate more with you or uh that you like more than the others or anything that uh is missing or or uh start over. I I really like number two. I think it incorporates all the areas we're trying to instill in the students. >> Yeah. And thanks to Ty on some of Ben's input because that was that was one of his asks, >> right? >> Is to acknowledge all aspects. >> Any other feedback from you guys? >> All right. With two. >> I I'll be honest. I'm kind of split. Number one, number two. I do like that number one does like account for employees as well. >> That's true. >> But I do agree that number two I think kind of gets to the point a little bit more. >> Yeah. Okay. >> No, I
028appreciate you speaking out. >> Great feedback. >> Yep. Okay. Well, we'll bring it back next month as well along with the mission and and uh the strategic plan. Um, just wanted to put out there the last day for students in the Camus Valley Schools is May 28th. Last day for teachers and other full-time employees who uh are not on a 12-month contract uh is uh May uh May 29th. So, just wanted to make sure that uh you guys were aware of that and that that was out um in the in the open. And um then we also have uh the the workday calendars for the 2728 and the 2829 calendars that um based on the the calendars that were adopted last month. So you've got uh the 12 month and everything down to the the
029184 day teacher contract uh days. >> Right. Okay. >> Any questions about any of those? >> Nope. They all looked great. Thanks for putting them all together. >> Yeah. Um and then uh there there was a trip uh for FCCLA uh I think last month Sammy was talking about having qualified for nationals >> and again we don't know if it's something that because two people or three people were in diligent at one time or >> not to add. >> Oh okay. So, so we'll have that on next month's agenda as well. But, um, >> so did she already go to >> No, in July. In July. >> So, we'll we'll we'll have that on there. Just wanted to at least acknowledge that it uh was something that we wanted to have on there um but
030didn't make it on. Uh, is there anything any questions you guys have for me or anything you want me to to be able to talk about or go find for you and report back? >> I don't think so. On your teacher work day, I think you were saying um the last day for teachers, you guys are doing it per building, but working on what the goals have been like it's not a districtwide, >> right? The buildings are Yep. >> Okay. >> Yep. they're they're planning their professional learning that day and and what they're doing. >> Um the only thing I wanted to add to that is you know Wade had talked about using that money that we didn't go on the trip. Do we want do we want to provide lunch that day or are
031you already taking care of it? >> Um >> I was say usually the buildings take care of the last day themselves. Some do. I know in the past you guys need some help. >> We're going to do a breakfast. >> Feed them good. >> They do. In fact, I I know at least one year, if not more, for sure. At least one year. Um me. >> Okay. At least one year. >> The high school smoke. >> Steak and eggs. >> That's all. >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> Pancakes. >> We'll uh we'll let the building we'll let them decide what they want to what they want to do. Right. >> Okay. >> All right. >> What day is it? Superintendent didn't have anything else. >> Adam has a little bit. >> I have a
032little bit today. So, appreciate you bearing with me, but uh as required by statute, I'm required to give you kind of my initial assessment of the budget uh before the budget hearing next week. So, this is really unofficial this or next month. >> There we go. >> Next month. >> Not next week. >> Yeah, we don't want to do it next week. But, uh, this is kind of my first guess at at, uh, you know, I I don't have final, uh, property tax, uh, information yet, and that won't come until like the 11th of June. >> Okay. >> So, this is my first assessment of where where I think we're going to come in come in at. Um, as you looked at the the uh the documents, basically, this is what I get from the
033state as far as what uh what the final year was. So, this is kind of their final estimate for this year. And then I compare that to the next fiscal year estimate. And then as you can see on the highlighted in yellow is what I think we're going to the additional money that we'll get between last year and this year. And so as I looked at that um that estimate final uh budget numbers is about 502 additional uh dollars in revenue for this next year. And that's coming from what we get from the legislature as well as some property tax new growth. And uh we don't estimate that we'll be doing any uh tax increases. Uh and then what I wanted to do is kind of go through some of the things that some of
034the requirements if you look at just the cost of so so that's the revenue side and then the the uh cost side. Um it cost us about $270,000 for steps and lanes. It cost us about uh $200 or 200k for just a 1% increase. It costs us uh about 200k for the increased cost to our health insurance and then uh you know $2,500ish for our dental increase. >> So is that that was what we were anticipating being a 9% increase last year. >> Yes, it was a nine. It was nine last year. It's eight >> another eight this year. >> Yes. They wanted to go 11 and a half but we >> we we felt like that was too much so we uh got them down to eight. >> Okay. I'm not. >> So, health
035insurance right now is, and Ty can probably attest to that, but uh it's crazy right now. Everybody's >> We were going to get a small this year cuz so big last year. Okay. >> Yep. So, you can see that's what the requirements are. And then and then what we've done on the other side of things, uh uh we have an admin that is retiring and we're not going to replace that position. And so that's gives us $184,000 in additional revenue uh from cost savings. And then we have uh 1.5 teachers out of Silver Summit. One's moving and and the other one is moving as well. And so that's about $164,000. And then I'm looking at moving some of the budget for some of the maintenance stuff that we're doing from fund 10 to fund 32.
036And that gives us about $1.2 2 million to do all of all of the things that we need to do, the steps and lanes, the the raises, the um health insurance, and the and the um increased dental insurance. So, >> from taking it from fund 32 to 10, what do you cut out of that? >> Well, we're just moving the the maintenance money that I gave to the principles last year to do carpet and all those kind of things, and that's going to come out of fund 32. So, we'll I'm just switching. Oh, but normally you spend fund 32 on other stuff. What is not >> nothing? We still have enough money to fund all the things that we had approved for fund 32. Okay. >> So, there's still enough money in fund 32 to
037cover us. And then and then further in this, I'm going to talk about a recommendation not to do the tennis courts this year. And hopefully you saw that in there, but we'll talk about that in a minute. So, are there any questions on that? That gives us kind of our negotiating parameters as far as how much money we have and and that's where we'll we'll start. So it's out in the open. Everybody knows. Any questions? >> And you have negotiations in the next couple weeks. >> Negoti negotiations I think is on the 15th. Is that right? >> Okay. So this week? >> Next week. >> This week. >> Next week. The 15th. >> No, 15th is like Friday. >> Uh well I think she's doing um >> I think they're both Friday. >> No, they're
038next week. I think it's the 18th. >> Okay. >> I got >> I think they're I think they're I think what they're doing is they're doing on the 15th they're doing the >> they're nominating who's going to represent and then on the 18th is the actual >> negotiations if I remember right. So I am old. Um, and then what I did is I went through like you you're normally seeing and kind of gave you some ideas as to to what all of the budget categories are. Um, and and kind of where the big reductions are and the big increases. Um, I kind of put some notes out to the right so you guys can kind of follow are did you look through that and are there any questions on that? >> First initial impression that's
039fine. You won't know numbers until >> Right. This is my best guess right now. >> This is the best guess. >> It's going to be close. So, >> unless you guys have some heartburn with any of the things I'm doing here. So, okay. Fun 32, as you can see. Um, and Wade, you asked about that. Um, we estimated about 4.8 million. Um, I'm estimating this year about 5.5 million in cost minus the tennis courts, which is about 1.3 is what we had estimated. So, you know, we're in the the four, you know, just over 400 or 4 million in fund 32. One of the things I did want to bring your attention to is our food service costs now are we've had excess funds that we've been carrying over for many years. This will this
040year will be the last year that we'll have excess funds. And so, uh, going forward, we're going to have to supplement food service. I they are raising some lunch prices to try to supp to close that gap, but we still are going to pro I estimate probably 150 to 200k that we'll have to supplement our food service. >> Yeah. >> Okay. and we're looking at costs and and uh I am moving some of the equipment and maintenance costs over to the to the high school and and middle school and to the elementary school to cover those costs so that we don't have to supplement even more in food in food service. But that's one of the issues that we'll all have you're going to see that we're going to be going into the red. I
041heard a radio story the other day that there's lots of schools and school districts that are dealing with this and having to raise their prices because the >> food costs are enormous. >> Even just personally in your own home is like crazy. >> Yep. And then, you know, as we've done so many raises that, you know, it's costing us a lot more uh to to do what we do. And so >> anyway, it's just one of those things that we're going to have to watch. >> Okay. >> Any questions on that? >> Nope. Okay, I wanted to go through real quick the um the pool update. Uh as you know, um we just got it through with a big renovation at the pool and it was closed for a couple of months. Uh well, when
042we went to fill the pool, the old liner, which was at life, and we were planning on replacing it next year, um had shrunk. And we we did actually did some patching, too, cuz we knew we were going to have some problems. We did some patching. We went to fill the pool and it wouldn't hold and it kept we couldn't it would never hold and so uh we stopped filling it and it kept going down and down and so we were losing sign significant amount of of uh >> water and so as and you can see some of the patches see that blue patch right there. Uh, and and that there are patches all over the place, but as it dried, it became even worse. And then then you put the water back in there
043and the weight of that water just separated the the liner. And it's really not I mean, we could try to patch it, but the the likelihood of it holding is not real good. And so my recommendation is that we we allocate some money and uh fix it. Right. >> So is it is it drained right now? >> It is drained. We drained it. >> How what's our turnaround time like? So, that's the problem and that's the issue. As we talked to the the pool liner people, um the soonest they could get there is uh the end of July. >> That's awful. Summer swim team. >> It is. It's horrible. Um so there's there's some issues. We're we're we're trying to find there's only like three contractors in the state of Utah that do pools and
044so um the cheap one of course is there that's end of July. Um there is >> patch it to get by until end of July. >> I don't I don't think we can. I mean, we're just going to be throwing bad money or good money at bad and and I you know it we could try it, but the likelihood of it holding is not real good. And then the other thing is that I'm worried about is uh we do it and we lose. So it costs us about 10 grand to fill that pool in water costs. So, if we do it again, spend 10 grand plus what it costs us to to line the pool or to do the patches, you're probably talking another 10 to 15. You're 20 grand, 25 grand into doing this.
045And it may or may not work. >> Now, are there out of states? >> Yeah. And we're And that's what Wes is trying to find someone that can do it sooner. And that's why I put the the cost at about 300. the the uh we we've got a cost range of $600,000 to $150,000. Of course, we want to go with the $150,000 one cuz that's the the right thing to do, but so >> not necessarily. >> Well, >> cheaper is not always >> not not always better, but we had some good luck. They they did our leisure pool, this company, and it did they did a really good job and we really >> it right. >> Yeah. So that's we we have confidence that this is the right company to do it. It's just getting
046it in the right timing. >> And also all these have the same warranty and the same >> same warranty. Same lifespan. >> They have to back it, >> right? >> So is it getting the product here or they just are booked out? >> They're just booked out. >> Booked out. Yeah. >> Always got Rockport. >> We'll we'll keep working it. If I can get it if I can get it moved up. We're trying to get it moved up. But again, there's there's no there's no good answer for you today. >> Okay? >> So, that's what it is what it is. So, I'll be asking for 350,000ish >> to to uh >> ish >> to uh to do the pool. And and I'm if we go with this company, it'll be less than that. But if
047I find another company, that gives me a little bit of leeway to in case we can get it done sooner. Does that make sense? >> Honestly, we're not that far away from end of July. >> We're not. Still, it's bad because we're all the swim lessons, >> all of the, you know, all the parties that the bigger kids that love the whip whitet and all the things. So, it's not it's going to be it's not going to be good for the community. So, >> yeah, >> but we're trying. >> Okay. Any questions? >> Anyway, >> not during swim season. >> That's true. >> It's true. >> That's true. We're not going to go through that again. >> Hey, Adam, while we're on the pool Yeah. When I was at the rec center the other day,
048and maybe Coach Roof knows this, I don't know. The parents said the scoreboard doesn't work for swim meets and we need to replace. >> Yeah, that's that's on the plan. Uh it's on Kenna's plan for this um next year. >> It's budgeted in in the budget numbers that you saw. It's in there. >> It's already in there. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yep. So, she'll be purchasing it before swim season. >> Okay. >> Yep. Yep. >> Okay. >> Perfect. Okay. Cool. All right. So, and then going through our summer projects, we we awarded the contract to Warner and Associates. Uh the only thing we need to do is um make some adjustments to the lighting contractor, which was Arco. Um that was the lighting upgrades to the grade gym, the main gym in the auditorium. And that
049came in higher than you'd approved. Uh you'd approved $397,500. Uh uh and the bid came in at 432,642. That was the lowest bid. And I'm asking for a little bit more for 10% just in case something happens, they run into something that they that wasn't anticipated. So I'm asking for uh $476,000. >> What What was the life on those those lighting? We have they've been in >> 20 years. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Are we switching to >> We're going to LED. >> Okay. from the from the H hallogen lights. Yep. Okay. So, that's really my update. Any questions for me? >> Is there any is there any government incentives to upgrade? >> Wes Wes is working on that with Utah Power and Light. So, there it's not going to be a huge amount, but
050you know, 15 20,000. Yeah. >> Yep. >> That's that's a that's a year's pay for me. >> There you go. Well, and it should lower our monthly cost, right? >> It it should. Yes. Our power usage should go down. >> Absolutely. >> All right. >> Any other questions for Adam? >> Okay. Hearing none. Um >> Greg usually talks about professional development, but he's uh had to step out for a minute. So, we're gonna we'll come back to this one. All right. Um we'll also skip over. Okay. Does anybody have any questions on the procedure procedural review? >> We can go ahead and do those for sure. >> Yeah, I did. I had some questions on it. >> Yeah, >> Stephanie's here for the >> Okay. >> And the calendar one. Didn't we only change that
051we don't have to do the two years? >> Yeah. >> And a we just have to present you with one year for each >> I I thought that one was fine >> for each year. >> Yeah. >> So, I got I got questions on it. >> Sure. Um, so like item number two, it's added three teachers from the South Summit selected by the South Summit Education Association. So does that mean that teachers that aren't members of the association don't have a say? >> Nope. They can pick anybody, any teacher. >> Yeah. But >> will they association's picking it? They're not going to pick a teacher that's not paying dues. >> I know I wouldn't. >> That's a good point. And because when you go down to the Silver Summit, they don't have to be picked
052by the association there. It's just random teachers. >> So >> maybe we should change that. >> I would support to take that out of there. >> I agree. That's a very good point. >> Teachers from South Summit. >> Yeah, >> that's a good idea. >> Catch. However, each school wants to select their their person. Let them select their person. Okay. >> That's a great catch. >> I like it. I like it. >> Yeah. >> And then also another one, nothing against Silver Summit, but you got Silver Summit in on the the calendar that affects our the schools over on this side, but you don't have anybody on our side helping that because they're doing their own calendar basically. >> They are. We kind of brought them into this one up here just so they could
053try to align some of the work days, you know, with it. When we originally, what was it two years ago? We said everyone's on the same calendar, but it caused a lot of problems. >> I I I it does. It does. >> And so at that point, we're like, okay, then one of your people come up to our calendar meetings so that we can be in sync with districtwide. >> So does it sync at all? Now >> the professional development days sync between South Summit and Silver Summit. >> Yeah. >> The professional development days do. >> Yeah. >> So >> that's the intent. >> Yeah. I just I don't want if I was over here, I wouldn't want them making my calendar. >> Well, or me having to adjust mine because I think they're just
054having bigger winter break >> just coordinating those professional those days that need to be common. >> You might want to put that in there. >> I know I've had it brought up to me that why is it that way that why do they have somebody over here messing with our stuff by teachers over here when we don't have anybody over there? So, I know there's a little bit of uh questioning on it. >> So, you might just want to put it in there what why we need to just do a little bit more >> explanation would help. Yeah. >> Okay. And maybe two separate committees and they get together to coordinate the the final drafts >> the final drafts to coordinate those professional development days after agenda. >> Okay, >> that'll work. >> Good thing
055you're here. >> We'll make those notes and come back again next week or next month. Not trying to be difficult. Just I always >> You have very excellent points, Wade. Good job. >> You have a different perspective to on the other side. So, it's it's welcome. No, I appreciate it. >> No, it's very good. >> Um All right. I'm going to we're going to look at the action um or the consent agenda and then we'll probably do a recess to see if we can't figure out what's going on. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Good. I think we need a recess. >> Do you want a recess now or >> recess first? You want? >> Yeah, you have to go. Yes. >> Okay. Um, >> I could go for a recess. >> So,
056let's uh So, Dan, you'll make a motion to uh rec. >> I'd like to make a motion that we go into a recess for five minutes. >> All right. Well, let's go for for >> whatever it takes >> for for a little while and then we can decide what's going on. >> Okay. >> And then we have a second. >> I'll second. >> Have a motion. Second. All in favor? >> I. >> Okay. >> You can give the second to her. >> Thank you, Wade. You were the You're just on a kick today. >> Okay. Well, >> okay. Will you go Will you go find out? >> Yeah. >> And when we come back, I got another one on the next one, too, on the graduation requirements. >> Okay. >> Um, >> is that 412
057412A? >> 412 >> policy 412A. >> Okay. You mean procedure 412A? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Okay. >> You guys recessing? >> Yeah. Adam just went to >> recording though, so you might want to go. >> I'll be >> Mike, you're going to have to teach him how to swim in Beaver Creek maybe and get you maybe and dam it up a little bit. Get a little little something that >> Well, you got to get it fixed, right? Even if it takes a little more time. >> And I mean, it doesn't owe us anything. >> Okay. >> How about you need to be We don't have that much left. >> Just make sure a little more to get a better freaking product. >> I hate this always going with the cheapest bit. >> Do you know
058if the other thing the other thing he asked me about? He asked me about the scoreboard. I don't even know if you know this or just go through the high school. >> I don't think there's anything left on the agenda that I really need. >> He said you can't >> Yeah. He said you couldn't see the times. All right. >> I I think we're all right. >> Okay. >> And then the other thing he said was the like the racing blocks. >> He said they're slippery. And >> um >> I'm going to kick this one down the road. Then we'll talk about it next >> way to have some questions on it. So I'll kick that one down. >> Graduation. Okay, fantastic. >> I'll get your either way. >> All right. >> So, you'll be
059all right. >> That's what I'm saying. >> Maybe less than 10 the big >> I'm just here's what you have to do in this order. Okay. >> And then I'm just going to give her a heads up that >> polish. That's never hot. It's hot. >> It's definitely warmer in here with all >> That's wild. >> Once you put one in, they got >> I think they'd be like a couple hundred each. >> We don't want to have to >> $50 each for We got that life jacket rack, right? We offer life jackets for kids. It's recycled plastic, which is the cheapest way to go instead of buy. >> Why can't you rhino line them starting blocks? >> Rough it up a little bit so you don't slip. We did try to do some traction
060outdoor weather stripping and it just >> the humidity >> stay in there. >> So there are some other options. >> Get some of that get get some of that you know that liquid flex you know. >> Yeah. Oh yeah. Put a bunch of >> just use duct tape. I mean come on everything. You can get it. You can get it in the paint barrels, but just dump some freaking sand in there, mix it up, and put it on there. >> But I think Wait, have some questions. But >> hey, I'm serious. I mean, >> I'd just grab one of them and try it >> and then we'll go from there. >> See what all of them. >> There's that home. >> Don't you have the motion to go to? >> I don't think so. >>
061I don't think you usually do. >> I did. >> I know. It was great. very efficient. >> If you don't Yeah. >> doesn't matter, right? >> We won't be turned in. >> And you did it just exactly right. Right. >> And if I overdid it, that's all. >> Exactly. >> Is there something in the budget for that? You know, the high school or maybe >> the other thing he asked me about was the racing blocks. >> Um I thought that was somewhere in >> Yeah, there's money in the in the high school athletic budget to do it. >> I I got I got a I got a fix for him. They get that liquid rubber. Uhhuh. >> And you put some sand in it. Paint that on there. >> There you go. Footing. Just I
062mean I'd do one just to see how it holds up and how it takes to the plastic. >> Yeah. I gave the high school 70 grand for equipment. >> Yeah. >> For swim team for starting blocks for I mean whatever they need. So screwed up the athletics when they let you start taking fun 32 out of it. >> I know. >> And using it in fun 10. That's why I question that. >> Somebody else always gets cut. >> Well, when you live above your means in one area, >> another area. >> So the thing that I had some extra money in fund 10 and that's what I decided to do with it last year and so I don't have that anymore. So that's why it moved it back into 32. >> So it's not like
063they lost anything. It was extra money that I So >> thanks for your live stream.
