state his or her emotion when making or seconding a motion or when speaking. At this time, I'm going to ask each board member to verbally indicate their presence when I call their name. >> Miss Amy Richards, >> present. >> Miss Rowan Mary Maym, >> present. >> Mrs. Rebecca Miner, >> present. >> Dr. Daniel Wallace, >> present. Okay. And I am Ralph Fallon. At this time, I need a motion to verify that a closed session was conducted in accordance with the Code of Virginia, section 2.2-3712, paragraph D, and that only matters exempted from open meeting requirements and only matters identified in the motion to go into close session were discussed. Is there such a motion? >> So move, Rebecca Miner. >> Is there a second? Second May. >> Mrs. Richards, how do you vote? >> Mrs.

Maym, >> I. >> Mrs. Miner, >> I. >> Dr. Wallace, >> I. >> And the chair votes I. And our close session has been verified. At this time, if there are no objections, I would like to ask Mrs. Rebecca Miner to lead us in prayer. Mr. Minor. >> Gracious God, we give thanks for this day. Uh we are grateful for this opportunity to be a part of such a community in which we can uh support and care for the children of our community. We pray for this evening that we may have wisdom and discernment uh for the tasks that are ahead of us and for any decisions that need to be made. And we pray for our families. We pray for our students, our staff, our administration. and we pray that all may continue to

learn and to grow and to be strengthened in Christ's name we pray. Amen. Amen. >> Amen. >> Thank you, Miss Moner. Let's stand and honor our country by reciting the pledge of allegiance. Our vision is to provide an exemplary learning environment that empowers all students to find their voices and make meaningful contributions to the world. Our mission together we nurture the unlimited potential of all students through inclusive authentic learning experiences. >> Thank you, Mr. Mayan. >> Do we have any suggested changes

or additions to our agenda? Okay. Hearing none, our agenda is approved by unanimous consent. Miss Rice, student and staff attendance recognition for March. >> Yes, sir. I'm going to begin with student attendance. Uh we had some really good attendance for the month of March. And at Copel Elementary School, the average percentage of students in attendance each day was 94.90%. Washington District 95.20% Montros Middle School 94.46% and West Morland High School 93.8%. So our winning school with the highest student attendance again is Washington District Elementary School. I see that. I'm proud of you. >> I never remember the award for y'all that >> congratulations to Washington District. >> And now for staff attendance for the month of March at Copel Elementary School. 90.18% Washington District Elementary 93.58% Montros Middle 93.37% and West Morland High School 91.33%.

So Washington District makes a clean sweep and takes the highest attendance for the staff as well. I know. >> Congratulations again to Washington District. Well done. >> Okay. Thank you, Miss Rice. Next, we have character trait honores for the month of March, Mr. McConville. >> And we'll have our principles come forward to celebrate perseverance this month. >> Good evening. I'm Holly Angel, principal Copel and tonight I would like to recognize kindergartener Camry Flannry. Camry Camry was nominated by her teacher, Miss Williams. And Miss Williams said, "Camry is a smart, active girl who has been met with some challenges. In spite of challenges, Camry has made significant growth in both math and reading. She will often ask for help when she becomes frustrated and will show perseverance even when tasks are hard. She thrives with helping

others and working one-on-one with others. Camry has shown great perseverance in our classroom. >> Oh wow. Oh my goodness. >> Look at me and smile. >> That's a good one. I'm Michelle Reass, the principal of Washington District. Our student of the month is fourth grader Rain Gray. I think she's the first otter by the way of our house. So, um, Gra is a hardworking student who continues to overcome challenges and never gives up easily. When something is difficult, she stays focused, keeps trying, and learns from her mistakes. She shows determination in her classwork as well as for other daily tasks. Her positive attitude and willingness to keep going makes her a great role model for classmates. to Mr. Bot. >> Good evening. I am Megan Smith, the assistant principal at Montra Middle School. And our

student of the month is sixth grader Marissa Lucas, who I don't think is here today, but that's okay. Marissa shows great perseverance in her learning. Even when work is challenging, she keeps trying and does not give up. She is willing to ask questions, practice her skills, and learn from her mistakes. Marissa's positive attitude and determination help her to continue to grow and succeed in the classroom. Her effort and commitment serves as an example to others, proving that success is not just about ability, but about persistence and hard work. Her perseverance has made a meaningful impact on the classroom, and she truly embodies what it means to never give up. Good. Thanks. >> Good afternoon. My name is Michael Bathy, principal at West Horn High School. WH student of the month for March goes out to

Kayyn Reeds, grade 12, nominated by Miss Brooks. Kayen consistent. Here's what she has to say. Kayen consistently stretches for doing her best. Even when she makes a mistake and is looking to see what she could have done better, she sets goals for herself. She has great questions and she has wonderful ideas. Uh she's the type of person who thinks kind of outside the box to kind of figure out the solution to any problem. She has the determination to work through any project and is always willing to adapt and make necessary changes. Overall, her attitude is one of making sure that she and others around her will be successful. The student of the month for March for Perseverance goes out to Kayla. She came from >> Yeah. >> Nice smiles. >> We offer congratulations again to

all those being recognized and uh we know that teachers and administrators and families play an important role in that. So congratulations to all. So next we have more celebration uh Virginia future problem solvers state bold creative writing Mrs. Sher and I believe you're going to have some students help you to come up. >> Yes, please. >> You in the spotlight now? Um so every year the fifth grade students at Washington district participate in the Virginia future problem solving creative writing program. Um it's a very long process. We start in October. Uh the fifth grade teachers nominate a few students from each of their classrooms and then I have the pleasure of working with them. So I had about seven of the fifth grade students who participated. Uh we submit a rough draft in January. It's

judged and then they they send it back and then they work on it. So, it's a very long process. Um, as you know, writing, a lot of students don't like to write. So, um, it's it's very exciting to see um, students get excited about it and they're um, able to be creative uh, with it. Um, so they have to choose one of the four topics. And this year we had um, surve surveillance, um, invasive species, space exploration, and there's one more. I forget what it was. >> What was it? >> Yes. Video games. the four choices. So, they each got to choose their topic. Um, and so Cooper chose what was your topic? >> Uh, space exploration. >> Space exploration and Charlotte chose >> Invasive species. So, um, all the students got to choose. So,

we found out in February I had two students that top that, um, placed in the top three. And this was the first year they didn't tell us what place they got. So, we got to travel to Norfick. Um they had a day where they um did a workshop and did some practice with public speaking. Um and then we found out that um Charlotte placed first in the state and Cooper placed second. >> Very proud of them. And since Charlotte plays first, she was invited to the international conference that's held in um Indiana University this year. And I I believe she's go she may be I think she's going. So it's a weekl long thing in June of of this summer. So we hope um wish you the best of luck and we know you do

great. So our rising sixth graders um are great writers. I had a lot of fun with them. AWESOME. M. Thank you so much and congratulations to you and the students. So, uh, would any board members like to make any comments? >> Just want to say great job. Um, West Morland is really stepping up to the plate this year. So, congratulations again. >> Yep. And not all of us write very well. So, okay. So, next, um, we have the Dow Innovation Challenge 2026. Uh, Mr. Smith, and I guess you're going to have some help with your students. And do you want to make some introductions from for guest room? Sure. So, so basically this is our our team. Fortunately, we had everyone um show up tonight which every you know they're all engaged in different activities

you know like a lot of our high school students. Um so it was good to have uh Mr. Gu and Mr. Shanklin but towns and come out. Today we have um from Dalin um we have Mr. Parker and Mr. Sison here to present um the award to uh to our team. Um I've got a I've got to share a little story. um on this was a two-day competition and we were I felt like I think you probably would agree we were in pretty good shape on Friday. We felt really good and then on Saturday we had a had a few uh few stumbles I think. Anyway, we had middle school participating on Saturday and high school. So I was back and forth between the middle school teams and the high school team and uh you

know of course a lot of the middle schoolers hadn't participated before so it was a lot I had to be with them a lot and of course they're very well managed on their own. Anyway I I go over about I guess it was about 1:00 during the day and uh I go to stop to check on um their team and all I can say is I think the term we're cooked Um, anyway, they're they're sitting all the three of them are sitting there with the robot. I think the 3D printed uh one of the 3D printed parts that that they made for the competition broke during they were having issue with a motor. I think it burned up. So, that I think the term cook was actually used. So, I'm like, okay, >> technical term.

>> Well, I'm I'm gonna leave you guys to it. I'm going to go back with the middle school. Anyway, I kept hearing from um some of the uh other uh people that came for West Morland that went over during the when they did their rounds that it sounded like they they looked like they were pretty happy. I'm like, really? I'm like, okay, well, good. Anyway, they had two you had a lightning round >> the phase two >> basic yeah basically they had to uh they had two phases competition and a lightning round which like basically a culmination to get as many points as possible um with different tasks um Caesar cipher uh encryption decoding um and then um delivering um different ordinances to different locations on the map and doing that under in a timeline.

And uh so they're programming the robot. They uh get credit for having 3D printed parts that are functional on the robot that uh we were made before before competition. And um anyway, needless to say, when the awards came, ceremony came up, of course, like I said, I spent a lot of my time, we had two teams from the middle school, so I was really, you know, they, you know, we have a tendency to underestimate ourselves. So I was really uh surprised when they came away with the third place. Um so anyway, I wanted to mention that story because it was really uh obviously I was gleaming at that point. So proud of these gentlemen for doing such a great job and uh really uh talking about persevering. I think it was because it is a

I think you could probably say it's a very high stress competition. >> I mean you have to be focused. You're everything's time and anyway I wanted to share that story with uh with you for the team. So I'm very proud of them. >> Thank thank you for working with this this outstanding team. Uh Mr. Chairman, members of the board. Mr. Rice, thank you for allowing us to be here. I'm Dale Sis. I'm the vice chair of the Freddy Military Affairs Council and we serve as a sponsor for this event. I retired last year. here. I was a Navy executive leading NSWC Dog. So, I'm a huge fan of the innovation challenges, the stressing environments that it puts you through really maps the challenges that these years of scientists face on a daily basis. And uh

so to have you come out with third, it's just part of the discovery process, right? Things don't always go right in the STEM fields for sure. And and you by pushing through, you you found a solution and brought home third place for for West Warren High School. So, we're if I had to find somebody to give us a picture here, we need public affairs folks with us. We're looking for some some budding. Oh, the great honorary public affairs teacher right there. I don't have the big check, you know, the giant one. We were actually we're planning to give them out that night and we had some turn of events that that evening and presented. But I'm going to give you that check. Just picture it as being really big represent you. >> This is the

one that matters when you take that thing to the bank. Congratulations. Thank you for your help. >> Oh, we need one more picture. >> Good job. Thanks. >> The reporter's got to get you. >> All right. Smile or else. And one more for good measure. >> Okay. >> Congratulations. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> So, Mr. Smith, thank you for all your effort. Congratulations to these awesome students. have a question for somebody. >> One thing to mention, they have been really motivated since they got third place. >> So, here we're hoping to take home the gold. So, >> absolutely. >> I have a question. >> So, when you say that um one of your 3D printed parts um was broken and that's part of the criteria that you're judged on. Are you

allowed to bring extra 3D printed parts with you so you can swap swap them out? And >> I think Y'all could probably share share what you did as far as the free recovery, I should say. You're asking question. >> So, are you are you allowed to bring extra 3D printed parts if you have an issue with one that gets broken or whatever to swap them out? >> Yeah, you're you're allowed to bring as many 3D part printed parts as you want. Uh criteria were just um having it uh on the robot or making fun. It didn't matter like the quantity or anything. >> So, the one that broke could be replaced. The only restraint there was the printing of the part and how long it would take. >> Yeah, >> they they were Yeah. truly

amazing. I was I was very impressed. I couldn't believe it when I when they got up there. >> I'm serious. When I say cook, I mean, I was I was like, "Oh my gosh, I don't even know how to provide emotional support. THEY are now angry and they just I could not believe it. I got to tell you, like I say, I was a little distracted with uh with the u with the middle school team trying to make sure they were okay since this is their first time. >> They pulled together. And by the way, um uh Joe is going to be um he's great senior this year. >> So, and he just little history two years ago. >> Yeah. Um he actually um we got when Mr. Perry was here and he was overseeing

everything we had. So this would be my third year and the first year we actually got second place for the same competition. I ended up coming here. >> So basically right now if you go look in in the um the maker space in the library at the high school we have two plaques. We have third and second. So we got to get first. We got to put that first place for next year. >> Yeah. So, >> Joe is actually looking at some possible opportunities hopefully with internship this summer >> and uh we've got some great team members and we've got some we're going to get on board because we've got a nice blowing system now from Washington District was actually there. So, we've got fifth graders coming up to the middle school. We've got our

middle school team which you know we were able to participate. I think we're trying to produce a uh you know competitive group. Well, what's important they learn, but these I can't how impressive these fellas are. It's it's uh they've really uh they're they're keeping me on my toes. They're they're employing new new things as part of uh in the maker space. You know, they've really taken ownership and Joe's leaving his legacy. we're going to put, you know, the Joe Shanklin School of Robotics. So, I'm very proud of him and very proud of these fellows foundation. >> So, are there any other questions or comments from board members? >> I just want to say, Mr. Smith, you are still glowing. >> I'm super proud of them. Like I say, they they really I can't I can't

understate how down they were and how they just pulled it together. >> Like, that's And uh Yeah. Congratulations. >> Very proud. >> Yep. Great job. >> Miss Hickman, would you like to introduce the next topic and presenters? >> Good evening. evening. >> I am very excited to have with us this evening Janice Calie and two of her young ladies from the Y Street. Rev your Bev um campaign. They're going to give us a presentation that I'm sure you all will be just as excited as I am about. We've been trying to get them here since August. I finally got them. So, at this time, the two ladies are going to come up and give their presentation with Janice. >> That clicker right there will let them go through their presentation. >> Okay. >> Good evening

everyone. I have Landon and Brooke here with me this evening. It's such a pleasure to join you all this evening. Thank you so much for allowing us to be here. Um, this is as as much talking as I will be doing this evening. Um, because this is a youthled program and so I will allow Wendon and Brooke to introduce themselves and tell you a little bit more about Brev and why we are here this evening. >> Yes. Okay. Hello. I'm Led. I'm a junior at King George High School. This is my third year street. >> And hello, my name is Brooke Hayden. I'm a senior at King George High School. This is my fourth year in Y Street and my fourth year on the Y Street leadership team. So, what is Y Street? Y Street

is a program funded by the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth that partners with schools across the state to promote tobacco and obesity free lifestyles. Why street members host school and community events, collect surveys, present at conferences, and meet with key decision makers like yourselves. This past fall, a few of our other Y Street members had the opportunity to meet with Miss Hickman to talk about Y Street in the regular bed campaign and she she gave us the idea to come to the meeting tonight to garner additional support. So our revive, we are here tonight to talk about the campaign. So revive goal is to increase the access, availability, and promotion of water within Virginia schools through our comprehensive policy adoption. We want to discuss the benefits of joining us uh and how to align with

us and the next steps of becoming a partner with us. So the benefits to updating your uh school's wellness policy, we're increasing water access to your students and staffs. We uh have a fun fact being that hydrated students are healthy students who are high performing students especially with the upcoming so uh this also can raise your school's nutrition score by a few points and we also give access to free rubber bed resources. In addition to those free rub your bed resources that would include our regular bed toolkit which you guys would receive. In the tool kit, you would receive water promotion posters, beverage dispensers, water bottles, water coolers, and paper cups. King George uses the beverage dispensers, which we fill the inside portion with fruit and have fruit infused water starting lunches. >> So, River

currently has 39 partners of now because it happened recently, which King George is one of the partners, which has helped us a lot with lots of prevention around the schools. And we hope that you guys are willing to join us to help make an impact around your area because we want to turn that whole map blue. So, Virginia support since 2019 to 2026 has collected over 30,000 surveys and support cards. 97% agree that schools can increase student water consumption by recognizing water as an essential nutrient and promoting water in schools. for red that has helped me a lot since I'm a part of many clubs and throughout classes to make sure I'm always hydrated by giving me more water out the day and make sure I have a water bottle. And in addition, as a

multiple sport athlete, I believe I perform my best when I'm hydrated throughout the school day. The Redback's competence and standards would mean recognizing water as an essential nutrient, encouraging teachers, staff, and admin to serve as role models. Make sure that there is easy that there's easy access to clean and safe water free of charge throughout the school day and make making sure that water is free. Regular the regular web policy would also allow students to carry a water bottle, maintain water sources, specify a communication plan and a point keeper. Okay. No worry. Um, so as Brooke and Landon have mentioned, um, our campaign, Rev Your Bev, is seeking to garner your support to update your school division's wellness policy. We first and foremost want to recognize we believe that West Morland is already doing many

of these things that we're asking. Simply a matter of just updating the division's policy to align with our comprehensive standards. And so here's the suggested um, language that we have outlined for you in red. Um, and in doing so, this would allow you all to secure a partnership with us, and in turn, we would provide those free resources to help support um, hydration within your division. So, you can distribute those however you see fit to students um, and support their their hydration. >> And I would just like to say thank you guys so much for giving us this opportunity to come and speak to you guys tonight. you guys. >> Thank you. >> Any u questions from board members or comments? >> Comment. Um I know that we do um have the water dispensers and

we do ask our kids to bring in a water bottle daily and things like that, but I love the idea of those dispensers with the fruit inside. I think that the kids would really enjoy that. >> I think so as well. Um, I've had the privilege of attending, we we also host Bre Your Bev events and we have partners across the state where actually partner with 32 high schools all over Virginia and I've had the privilege of attending so many events and the kids really do drink the water like they're fish. It's like they've never had water before all of a sudden, you know, there's fruit, there's strawberries in it and they're just super excited. So, I agree. It's it's definitely a huge hit. And it's also very nice to see two young students come

and give presentations. Great experience. You did a great job. >> And so thank both of you for that. >> Miss Rice, did you want to make any comment regarding >> I have a question. Okay. Actually, um, since these students are here, will West Morland High School students have an opportunity to do some of the same activities that these >> students from King George are doing? >> Yes. So, we actually are getting ready to um gear up and what we we call hosting partner recruitment where we are seeking high schoolers um high school students across the state. Um and typically how the program works is that a teacher would serve as an adviser at the high school. Our staff would come in, we would provide training to the youth on um policy initiatives like the things

that we work on in the program. It's a really great program um because it also offers like a stipen to participate. So clubs have the opportunity to earn up to I think it's $2,500 um just by being a part of the program and and they get the opportunity to come join us in Richmond every summer for leadership. Um so yeah, we would love to partner with West Morland and I can certainly um pass off some information to you and you can see if anyone at the high school is interested in serving as an adviser. >> Thank you. >> Since you all spoke highly about it, I thought some of our students might be interested. Yeah, lots of fun doing live stream. >> All right. >> Anything else from anyone? Again, thank all of you. Uh,

Miss Hickman, also thank you for your role in bringing these folks here to speak to us. >> Thank you. >> And and we know how concerned you are about nutrition. So, thank you. >> Thank you. Miss Rice, did we have any written public comments that were submitted prior to our meeting? >> No, sir. >> Okay. Do we have any public comments from anyone presenting? >> We have one. Okay. Okay. uh if you'd like to come forward uh I do need to read a statement that we read before all public comments and that is that when you we'd like for you to come to the podium. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah, Mr. Henson, uh we'd like for you to come to the uh podium, state your name and topic and prior to leaving, we'd like to make

sure we have your contact information. I think we have that so that we can give you a reply. Uh any comments that are are harassing or are bound to a personal attack against any identifiable individual whether a board member, staff member or student or having the potential to cause unnecessary delay or disruption disruption of our meeting are prohibited and comments must be limited to three minutes. I think you've heard all this before. Yes sir. Absolutely I have heard from me of everything. Good evening board citizens Larry Hson district three. Two quick issues um concerning back in the winter months we had uh school closings to know that and I have neighbors who have grandchildren that they want to know whether they have schools open or closed. The main concern was announcement local radio stations like

WRR or WNT and know I was at school and you guys are school that's the first thing you do turn radio on. Oh, we got school today or no school. Hey, no school. So the grandparents concerned because they don't do you know the computer or even have a cell phone with information on. So if you can get that routine back again with coming winter months this year we appreciate it. I told him I would pass the word along and So we can get that started again. >> Okay. >> And also number two is left school buses. Uh if I could have information on that. There was four of them brand new and parked up at the Washington District School being charged every day. So I know used by grant money and grant money is our

tax money. So what's the issue on buses? I heard they went one day and it was very successful. I know McGomery County, Maryland did that years ago and that unfortunately was it was a flop. It did not turn well at all. Now I've told you guys before that diesel or gasoline if that's engines especially diesel engines for school buses any type of big mechanical work. So if you give me information on those two items I would appreciate it. I'll pass along to concerned citizens of wellness. I myself like to know issues all on those items. >> Okay, Mr. Hansen, we appreciate your comments. Uh that helps us do a better job and everyone that submits public comments uh will in either in advance of our meeting or in person uh will receive a response. And

our goal is to give a response within five working days and hopefully sooner if we can. So you will receive a response to your concerns. >> Well, thank you everyone. Appreciate >> Thank you so much. >> Okay. Is there anyone else? Okay. Our public comment period is closed at this time. Next we have our consent agenda for appointments, resignations. You have copies of the March 10 budget work session, the March 18 regular session, and the March 26 special call meeting. And you also have copies of school division bills and school nutrition bills. Is there a motion to approve the consent agenda? >> Amy Richards. So move. >> Is that second? >> Second. Res may >> Miss Richards, how do you vote? >> I, >> Mrs. Mayan. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Miner. >> I >> Dr.

Wallace >> I >> and the chair votes I and the consent agenda is approved. Miss Rice, donations and school gifts. I'll get there documents for Okay, donations. We had quite a few um very generous donations again this month. Uh first, we want to recognize that Barbara Gay from Girls Zone uh Northern Neck Gateway region uh again collected uh items from the community, community donations of clothing and personal hygiene products. and she made uh two contributions from the donations collected from the community. The first was valued at $2,568 and the second contribution was valued at $2,316. So in addition to a lot of personal hygiene products, um one of the things they collected and donated was prom dresses. >> I I don't know, Miss Washington, if you know how many, but the first batch of farm

dress and then this last batch I think she received those on my behalf there were 20. >> So quite a few um >> really generous donation uh and I know our our young ladies are appreciating all these donations. So a huge thanks to Barbara Gay. Um then at Copel Elementary School they received three donations. Ober's Tire made a monetary donation for the spring dance of $100. The Smile Makers uh made a monetary donation for stream night of $100. And Montrust Food Lion gave a gift card for the spring dance and that was valued at $35. At Washington District Elementary, the Texas Roadhouse gave 500 gift cards for children's meals valued at $1,000. Holden Law Offices gave shirts and vinyl for prek field trip and that was $23.37. The Southern family gave clothing for the nurse's

office valued at $20. And Morgan Cris also gave clothing for the nurse's office valued at $20. at Montros Middle School, YOVASO, um gave a monetary donation for the safe driving contest and that monetary donation was $300. St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oak Grove gave a Walmart gift card valued at $30 and Ashley Wilkins gave student incentives for skate night valued at $90. And then finally at West Morland High School, uh Prince William County Schools Education Foundation gave a monetary donation to the Virginia Star program. That's the program that refurbishes computers of $1,000. Nomini Baptist Church donated a spotlight to the high school valued at $1,800. and Old Dominion University gave a monetary donation towards a drone and that donation was $250. Also for the high school, Dr. Mary Banks gave kids headphones to Miss Turner's

class valued at $9245 and David Jones from Kamera, I probably said that wrong. uh gave softball uniforms valued at $1,810.86. >> So uh a lot of extremely generous donations this month from individuals and organ organizations and we are grateful. Yep. It seems like every month >> we have a number of awesome donations and it uh it demonstrates the support that individuals and community have for our school system. There's any do anyone have any questions for Miss Rice? In accordance with policy KH, is there a motion to approve the donations as presented by Miss Rice? >> So move Rebecca Miner. >> Is there a second? >> Second, Miss Maryanne. All in favor, please signify by saying I >> I. >> Okay, Miss Rice. Uh the donations are gratefully accepted and much appreciated. So, thank you very

much. >> Okay. Next, we have uh school nutrition program policies, Miss Rice. >> Yes, sir. We have uh two policies that you received for information uh last month. Uh the first is the policy that has now incorporated the necessary language from Revier Bev in order for us to have a comprehensive uh wellness policy. And then the second one is the meal charge regulation that we developed um in response to the federal monitoring visit and their recommendation that we supplement our food services uh policy with specific details about meal charges. So both of those are uh presented for action this evening. >> Okay. And we have had these presented previously for information uh before I ask for a motion. Are there any questions for Miss Rice? Okay. Is there a motion to approve the policies as

presented? >> So move Mary Mayan. >> Okay. Is there a second? >> Second. Rebecca Miner. >> Okay. >> Mrs. Richards, how do you vote? >> I. >> Mrs. Maym. >> I. >> Mrs. Miner. >> I. >> Dr. Wallace. >> I. >> The chair votes I. And the policies are approved as presented. Thank you, Miss Rice. >> Thank you. >> And I believe next we have some VSBA policy updates. >> Yes, sir. You all received the VSBA policy updates uh last month for first read as well. Um there were quite a few policies included in that collection and I know you've reviewed them over the month and uh we discussed them last month. So uh I am presenting those this evening for action as well. >> Okay. And any questions for Miss Rice? Okay. Is there

a motion to approve the VSBA policy updates as presented? >> Andrew Wallace to move. >> Is there a second? >> Amy Richard second. >> Okay. M. Richards, how do you vote? >> I. >> Mrs. Mayan. >> I. >> Mrs. Miner. >> I. >> Dr. Wallace. >> I. >> Chair votes I. And the VSBA policy updates are approved as presented. Miss. Rice. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Next, um we have approval of our 2026 special education annual plan. >> Good evening. >> Evening. >> Um we're back. We have our um special education um annual plan. Um this time I have yellow power. Um so each year we get money, federal money from under IDA for our special education students. um we don't ask for the money. We are given this money based on the number of

students that we have receiving special education services and we have to document how that money is going to be spent and as um you'll see so um that was um and then so West Morland has 20 225 students that was our December one child count. So every December one, that's what they base it on, what our special education count is. And that's pretty much what we do for the whole year. So if you ask me whether kids have left or come in, you ask me what my child, I'll say it's 225. But now um um so that's what they based it on. And then so we get the funds, they go under two 611 that is for our um elementary and secondary. So we the money that we get we use um towards salaries for

these teachers. It does not cover all salaries. So we have four elementary special education teachers and eight secondary special education teachers which covers Montrust Middle and West Morland High School. But again it doesn't cover all of their salaries. It's just a portion. And then um proportionate set aside. we have to provide services to homeschool and for private schools in the county and what we um provide those services for our speech language services. So if the students that are homeschooled or at private schools are found eligible for speech services, we provide those services to them. And at this time we have five students that we are providing services to. And um our 619 which is for our early childhood um special education, we have one teacher um and our funds that fall under 619 um go

towards that teacher's salary. And then our next steps are um in April I I come to you all and ask if you'll approve this annual plan. In May um I will have it submitted to the Virginia Department of Education for approval and then July one is when funds are allocated to West Morland. >> That's all I have. >> Okay. Any questions from anyone? >> Is there a motion to approve the 2026 special education plan as presented? So move Rebecca Miner. >> Is there a second? >> Second. Rosemary Mayan. >> Any discussion? Mrs. Richards, how do you vote? >> I. >> Mrs. Maym, >> I. >> Mrs. Miner, >> I. >> Dr. Wallace, >> I. >> The chair votes I. And the 2026 special education annual plan is approved as presented. >> Thank you so much.

>> Wasn't that easy? >> Yeah. Thank you. >> Okay. Next we have approval of the 2026 CTE Perkins application. Mr. Evans, >> hopefully mine will be just as easy. >> Good evening everybody. I'm going to share an update with you on the CT program and then at the end the highlights from the purchase plan for next year. So this year we've made more progress with CT program. We have a very clear course sequence now that's being followed by our guidance counselors when they schedule our students which has made a dramatic impact on students taking the courses in the correct order. Um there's no more of this random freshman in an advanced class that shouldn't be there and not doing well. And um we've also been able to add more dual courses with Mr. Lightfoot's courses

this semester. Um, and then we have even more, which I'll get to in a few minutes, but we have even more dual enrollment courses coming next year. Uh, we have very much uh increased the variety of our credentiing testing. We actually have a decrease this year in workplace readiness testing which is a good thing um because workplace readiness is really designed as an entry level exam um not one of the high demand um as BOE has labeled them are high demand credential and testing is where we're kind of shifting our focus to now. So the majority of our students at the high school have already taken and passed the workplace readiness. So the numbers are actually decreasing, but that's a good thing. Um, and like you heard earlier with Mr. Smith and robotics team, we've

had huge success this year with that. And so we're looking to expand that next year into actual courses. Um, right now it's just during Thunder Flex. They're not actual CP courses. So we're hoping to expand that next year as part of our curriculum. We're just continuing to grow. So for next year, we have some exciting things that are coming down the pipe. First one is the teachers for tomorrow program. We have um not only you're going to hear more about the grant portion of this with one of the next presentations that comes up, but we have not only the course that we're bringing into the high school next year, we also have some grant funding which we're excited about the possibility of that. Um this will allow our juniors and seniors to take the for

right now two classes, teachers of tomorrow one and teachers for tomorrow two. We're looking to expand that in future years to an exploratory class in 10th grade. Um, this will allow these students if they take both classes and pass the parapro exam at the end of the two, they will actually be able to leave the high school with an associates degree and be able to integrate into the workforce as a par professional. And then we also have partnered with RCC to make these online courses. So they actually have the ability to not only get credit from the high school but also from RCC and they can use those classes to then go to Mary Washington to finish their degree, come out as a teacher and hopefully come back to us. Um also excited to get

the TV media production class going again. We haven't really had much success with that since I left the classroom all those years ago. Um it's passion of mine. It's passion of Mr. Klinsky's. Um, we both have taught the class before, so we're really wanting to get that going again and we have a beautiful studio. Um, we've had success with that also during flex, but we want to get that going as a full class. Um, thanks to Mr. McConville, we're going to shift jobs Virginia jobs for Virginia graduates into the CT department and have one of our CTE teachers teaching those courses to those students in 11th and 12th grade. Uh, we have done some shifting. We have a teacher at the middle school who's leaving our division and so we're going to shift that position

to the high school and fill that position as a high school clause with classes to be determined. Um but we're excited about that and then we're going to continue to expand our credentiing testing. Uh we have some seniors in the next couple weeks that are going to be taking some IT certifications that we've never offered before. So, it's it's credentiings that like that that we want to continue to offer to make our students more marketable in the workplace. These are some of the tests that we've done so far this year. Uh again, workplace readiness, again, those numbers are down, but that's a good thing. The wise financial literacy test, the students take that at the end of their personal finance course that they take. Uh most of them are seniors, but we do have some

juniors that take that course. We've had a big increase this year in our MOS certification tests for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. And then, as I mentioned, we have the IT specialist exams that are going to be coming up in the next couple weeks. And we got even more coming next year. So, moving on to next year's Perkins plan. Um, making it real simple this year, next this coming year to in terms of reimbursement, um, there's two main sections. Category 3000 is our Northern Neck Tech portion of our Perkins allocation that goes to them and for $5,531.37. And then capital U category 8,000 is our capital equipment which is the remainder of the grant $43,128 what will go towards equipping all of our CT classes with the necessary equipment. So I present that for you to

approve so I can send it to the state. >> Questions? comments. It's exciting to see the expansion of classes. Uh that's that's been a priority of the school board and uh it's it's it just really feels good to see that. So, uh thanks to you and everyone else involved in that process. Uh any additional questions or comments? I'll just say as a a parent of a rising freshman to be um having that laid out in such a way of what is required. So to see like well my interest is to get here. Okay. Well, you've got these two classes you got to go through first to get there. And so to have that clearly laid out wonderful. >> Okay. Anything else from anyone? >> There was some discussion at the last about concerns about dual

enrollment with RCC. Remember, >> does this affect our our dual enrollment at all? The particular courses that um Mr. Evans is referencing are transferable courses. Um, so when we met with Hut Williams, he was able to let us know that these are transferable unlike uh some of the ones at the tech center that don't lead to high or college credit. Yeah. >> Okay, good. Thanks. That was like a major blow for me. >> Oh, sure. >> And I'll talk about that, I guess, when we get to Ash, but >> Okay. Anything else? Is there a motion to approve the 2026 CTE Perkins application as presented? >> Um, so moved. Pres Mayan. >> Okay. Thank you. Is that second? >> Second. Amy Richards. >> Any discussion? Mrs. Richards. How do you vote? >> I. >> Mrs.

Maym. >> I. >> Mrs. Miner. >> I. >> Dr. Wallace. >> I. >> The chair votes I. And the 2026 CTE Perkins application is approved as presented. >> Thank you very much. Thank you, Miss Rice. Strategic plan year one implementation. >> Yes, sir. Thank you. So, I'm going to ask all the directors to come up and sit on the front row because several of them have uh speaking roles in this presentation. >> Is the clicker on? Thank you. >> See how well we work together. >> For me, I'll stay over here. sitting in >> they sat in presentation order. So nice. They're so organized. So um I asked all of the directors come up because um all of the directors have been working collaboratively on every aspect of uh implementing the strategic plan. So all

all of us were part of writing it um along with you all but all of us are also part of implementing it. So, um, not everyone will speak tonight, but I wanted to make sure we highlighted the entire, uh, team because this executive leadership team, I think, is unparalleled. I am the most fortunate superintendent ever to have a team like this. Um, so I wanted to make sure everybody is uh, getting their kudos. Even though they all work behind the scenes and they don't want the applause, I want them to have the applause. Um, so the strategic plan um, year one implementation, we have exciting things to share. Uh we met with our strategic plan steering committee on April 8th. That was the group that originally met to help us develop our strategic plan. We

asked them to come back in um because they're also our accountability partners to make sure, okay, you helped us write this plan. We said we were going to implement it. What are we actually doing with the plan? Are we following what we said we would do? So they came in and we were able to share year one highlights uh which included our implementation journey through year 1. Dr. Baker was with us and he was able to share some of those highlights. We presented uh progress on the goals and that's what we want to do for you all this evening. We invited the committee members uh to give us honest reflective feedback on how we were doing with each of the goals, what they were hearing that they were excited about, what they wanted to hear

more about and what they uh hope our focus will be in year two. And they did give us that feedback. So, uh we are using that now to kind of guide our next steps. We asked the committee committee members if they would continue to meet with us again. Little did they know when they signed up to be on this committee, we were going to try to hang on to them for years to come, but um they've said yes. Um so they're going to continue to meet with us. Uh we plan to meet with them midyear next year and then again at the end of the year. Again, um it gives us an opportunity for parent and community feedback on what we're doing. Um and if you know you're going to be presenting to somebody uh

on your progress, it helps hold you accountable. So we all need that accountability. Year one highlights um our implementation journey. As I shared, we've been working with Dr. Baker throughout the year. um the entire leadership team. He has worked with us uh on a variety of things including helping us identify year one priorities for each of the goal areas, identifying key barriers um that we would have to overcome in order to be successful with implementation, committing to specific actions and putting systems in place, monitoring and assessing our own progress and promoting uh integration and collaboration across the team. and then planning for communication both to the steering committee and to you all. Uh we meet weekly uh to discuss our plans and objectives for the week. Uh we do that every Monday morning at 10

o'clock. Um and our daily work day in and day out is aligned uh to what's in the strategic plan, not just at the central office level, but if you ask the principles um they'll tell you that what they're doing day in and day out is aligned to the strategic plan goals and objectives as well. the full team collaborates and we support one another's work um across the division and the team is united across goals. So everybody has different areas of expertise and uh when we sit around the table together it's uh really nice because we'll be focused on a goal and somebody's taking the lead on that goal but then somebody else has something they can contribute um to make it stronger and better. So there's a lot of um crossdep department collaboration going on.

Um I mentioned school leaders developed their school improvement plans and presented those to you all uh that address the specific needs of their schools but also are aligned to the strategic plan and then you all as a governance team uh met with Dr. Baker yourselves to develop governance goals aligned to the strategic plan and adopted those unanimously in December. So that's kind of been our implementation journey up to this point and now uh the best part uh we have folks that are going to share our progress on each one of the five goals in the strategic plan. Good evening. So our first goal um is relevant and engaging instruction. And so there are a couple of focus areas here. First is gold standard gold standard project-based learning. Um what came up during the strategic plan

was uh providing authentic uh learning experiences for our students. And so we already had gold standard PBL in place. So we looked at okay what is it that we need to do to um dust ourselves off or reignite these experiences for our students. So currently we have a PBL leadership team at each school. One of the things that we talked about was taking that up a notch and creating PBL um coaches for next year. Um currently our PBL leadership team, they support the teachers with planning their projects and facilitate sessions with staff at each school on gold standard um design elements and teaching practices. This year we decided to invest in PBL Teach which provides teachers K12 with a catalog of projects and all of the resources um rubrics, lesson plans, many lessons that they

need to facilitate those lessons. So teachers have access to that. Um this year with the Virginia Literacy Act, we incorporated the bow screener for grades four through eight. So now K8 gets screened in vowels. Um we have adopted our core curriculum for reading K5 and then for 68 we have our intervention tool. So more information about this is of course in our literacy plan which you received that update for last last month. When it comes to providing a guaranteed and viable curriculum, we have invested in the Hampton CIA K12 curriculum. Um this provides a consistent alignment with our standards, common pacing assessments and it helps us to monitor mastery as well. Um we're providing support with this through our walkthroughs, observations and feedbacks. Um our principal shared a um engagement observation tool this year that

we used that as we did our walkthroughs and were able to provide teachers with feedback using that tool. for math and literacy instructional coaches. We have fabulous um math specialists and reading specialists who assist our teachers and serve as coaches. So they helps teachers to analyze student data and identify learning needs. They plan targeted small group instruction with our teachers, helping them to do flexible grouping as a as opposed to leaving the groups the same. They use their data to actually form those groups and they um change constantly as they're doing their progress monitoring and it also helps to build our teachers capacity through our coaching. So where are we headed? As I shared that we have um our PBL leadership team. Next year we want to put our coaches in place. Having PPL coaches

at each school is gonna not only assist teachers with facilitating the projects, but it'll also help them with not only planning the projects, but with facilitating the projects. So, the PBL coach will be able to go in, observe, model, and provide that additional support to the teachers. Um, we're moving towards building a culture of ongoing instructional implementation. So, we want to look at what's working with our instructional curriculum this year reflect what do we need to put in place to make sure that that's constantly improving and what supports do we need to provide to make sure that we're continuing to make sure we have highquality instructional materials. We want to deepen the coaching partnership that we have with our reading and math specialists and just continue to provide those learning opportunities for our teachers by

um we had even more teachers this year to go to conferences and different things like that. So, we want to continue to provide those opportunities for them. I tried to do this the other day and I had it upside down and it didn't work. Um, in line with learning more and helping the teach the kids learn more, um, something that's really critical in our not just in our our world, but just not just here, but in the world is chronic absenteeism. So, we're trying to address that as well. And one of the ways is by making it more interesting for kids. if it's more interesting, they're going to want to come. So, that that helps. Um, one of the things we've also done is we have um gotten a new program called Everyday Labs, and

it has a dashboard. We've been looking for a dashboard for attendance for a few of years. So, we found this dashboard, which makes it really nice. It tells where we are, what kids are doing, and you can see this one, it it's small, but you can see it. It tells the attendance rate for each month and then it also gives the chronic absenteeism as well. And then it gives you a pie form underneath that will tell you different things. And we've been using this program since January or February we started working on it and actually it has gone down. Now I don't know that we can say raw yes it's because of this program but it did at chronic absenteeism did go down. So that's a good thing. But let me tell you a little

bit about what the program does is it contacts the parents. And we've had programs that email parents and stuff like that, but doesn't seem to have a really good effect on the parents. But this one emails. But the one thing that it does that I've not heard of very much is it mails a letter to the snail mail with an actual stamp. It actually sends it and on the letter it will say your child has missed this many days and then underneath it'll say students in that in your class have missed this many days. So then you can look and see and go my kid is missing a lot more days than the average student. So it has a has an impact. I think they've really looked at try how do you get through to

parents? How do you do these things? They have a way of sending them out every so often and it it's really um I think a really neat program. They're just really helpful. We asked them the other day because the um the state looks at subgroups and none of this had subgroups on it and I said, "Hey, what can we do? Do you can you do something about subgroups?" And he said, "Well, we're going to have a subgroup on here soon. We just don't have it yet, but I'll get you one by the end of the day." So he uh they're very very helpful with us, very helpful with um getting it set up. They work well with us and uh so it's it's really a good thing. Um this and then where are we going?

We're going to continue using it. I think they're going to continue to expand, but you can see the number of of things that they've sent out for Copel. They've sent out pieces of mail. not necessarily mail for for snail mail, but with text and with all that. And there's 329 students. So, in the beginning, they just sent out something that we're going to be doing this, but then they would send out updates. So, we're excited about it, and I think um I think we're going to see good things along with the the um making things more interesting for students and parents being more informed. I think it's going to it's going to have a really good effect for us. We're looking forward to that. >> It's really uh encouraging to see something I must say

more innovative >> about uh you know student attendance and yeah >> ways to look at chronic absenteeism. We found a lot of times that programs that are by individuals, they seem to really kind of sense what's going on and what needs to be done rather than a great big corporation that goes hopefully power school will buy them. Um, but the individual companies, they seem to, you know, really get the the the need what's there and what would work. So, okay, good. Thank you. And I assume board members can ask questions at any time if they have any questions. >> Oh, sure. >> Of all of you. >> No, you can't. >> We We're trying to see who doesn't present so we know where to direct the questions. >> Can I sit back down now? There's

a lot of pressure on this. I felt good a minute ago. very excited to present on our EL. As we all know, any program you have, anything you have, it's really all about the people. We have absolutely exceptional e teachers in our our district. Um, and through you guys and Miss Rice and the principles and everyone else. Um, to have a staff member at each school, I cannot emphasize enough how rare that is. Um, when I go to a lot of the trainings in the conferences, typically a division our size may have just one EL person for the entire division. Um, so I almost stay quiet in the round tables when we're talking about staff and the fact that we now have four. Um, we have five actually, but four uh dedicated teachers to it.

Um, in addition to that, principles have arranged their schedule where they have time to really work with our EL students hands-on. Um COPE even last year was recognized for continuous improvement as one of the top five in the region. So we're very excited about our EL program and where we're going. Um the two new teachers, one at Montros, one at West Morland High School, we really ramped up our PD this year. So in addition to taking on the new roles, they went to a lot of different professional developments to really learn a lot. Um, in addition to that, we we brought on elevation which Miss Angel originally brought up because she had it from a previous division and we're very excited about that program as well. Um, but seeing the EL staff, I mean, there's

been a lot thrown on them this year, including testing and they've just responded and they're a tremendous team. Uh, May 5th, we're doing a family night. Would be a great night to come see them in action. Um, they kind of showcase all the things they're doing. Uh, during the WEDA testing, you Hopefully we'll never have another year like this with the ICE and everything else going on and the rescheduling. Um but literally the EL teachers would drop what they're doing to go help a teammate to ensure that we had two people in all areas. So that was great to see this year. Um just the absolute teamwork they have for each other. As I mentioned elevation, what this is, it's a ESL program and we're going to have everything in one place. So right now

traditionally our documents have been kept at the individual buildings with individual teachers you know and the files and they've done the really good work of the meetings and all the things that are required but now we're going to have it all into a platform. Um this will really help us K through 12 as the students progress. We'll be able to track their WEDA testing as well as how well they're doing in classes and really have that K12 communication all the way through their journey. Um, and the EL team is very excited about it. So, they we're we're we have one more hands-on training and they'll be fully trained for the entire year, the teachers. Then, we're going to train the admin in the summer and then we're going to roll it out slowly to the

general education teachers who have EL students in the fall. So, it's a major undertaking. I'm really proud of all the work they've done um so far through Elevation. One of the key goals of Elevation in addition to tracking students, um it really helps with the parent communication like we'll send out our different letters. Um we'll have standard EL plans again now will know all the way through to help with student monitoring. But one of the key elements of it is we're going to be able to give strategies to general education teachers. So, in addition to our EL teachers going into the rooms, we'll actually be able to give um strategies from this platform that will help our gened teachers when they're working with our EL students in the classroom and there's not always that EL

support. Um, it did take a significant portion of our grant funding. Um, but we we felt it was worth it and as going through this process, I definitely think it is. So, we're very grateful for the support um bringing on elevation. Uh, one goal we're going to have next year, um, is going to have more like a welcome center for students and Elevation will be part of that. So, when we get new students in the middle of the year or at different times of the year, we can really direct them to this platform and also make sure we're giving them all the communication they may need to get on board um, as they come to us because sometimes with our migrant students, we have people coming and going throughout the year. So, it's kind of

like an all-in-one uh type program. And the elevation support and training has been tremendous. They they've been great to work with. Um they've answered my two million questions. Um haven't stopped answering them yet. So, we're pretty happy with elevation on where we're heading. >> I think that's any questions. >> You said that there was a night where you all would be presenting and we should come. What night is that? >> It's going to be May 5th at the high school and we're going to be sure to share that out. We were uh finishing the flyers, not we, the EL team was. Um so we have that and we'll share that with you guys. It's going to be a K through 12 night. Um all the ESL parents and families are invited that night at the

high school. >> And what time? >> It will be 5 to 6:30. >> We'll be in work sessions. Maybe that'll be part of our work. >> No, this is going to be the 12th. >> Oh, >> our work session. >> We changed it. >> You changed it. You were in England. >> That's what happens when you go to England. >> And there will be um some student presentations that night. So, we're going to highlight some students and the EL team is going to recognize some of our parents who have been very supportive this year as well. >> And there's food. Okay, good evening everyone. I have the pleasure of representing goal three which is so important to our school district which is ensuring that we have highly qualified staff. So when you have highly qualified

staff and when you have wonderful staff, we want to make sure we spotlight them. So one of the things we started this year in our newsletters was to recognize some of our new teachers. As the years go on, we'll do more and more of recognizing teachers at every school and we even talk about having them possibly come to the schoolboard meetings and do a recognition of our employees, an employee of the month or something like that. So, we're excited about that. We're also doing more appreciation days and recognizing our staff and really honoring them for the work they're doing. For instance, this week is administrative assistant day is on Wednesday. So, we're excited about that as we celebrate staff And so >> you don't recognize you don't pull me. >> But we've done some great

things this year. We recognized our custodians, our bus drivers. So we're really excited about that and the staff is excited about that. Just knowing even one of the custodians was out one day and called me and was like, "Do you have my gift?" I'm like, I got you. So, that's important because when you show people you care, they should also care. And what they're doing in our schools, what all of our staff is doing, it's just awesome. So, we want to make sure they feel that love from us. And then our next thing is grow your own teacher program and Mr. Evans has already introduced that for us. We are excited about this opportunity. They will be taking classes this upcoming year and arising juniors or seniors will have the opportunity to participate in the

teachers one course where they will receive six transferable credits. We are in connection with RCC and Mary Baldwin University. So they can take these classes online through Mary Ballwin. And the great thing about it is the pair protest. If they take that and pass that, then they can work for us as paraprofessionals, as substitute teachers while they're in college. And then while they're in college, uh our teacher must also stay in contact with them as a part of this program so that we can see where we're going, how they're tracking, and then the ultimate goal is to bring them back home. So that's why we want to make sure that we align them with what they need and give them what they need. We have not received word on the grant yet, but Miss Rice

has said we're still moving forward with this program regardless. And there has been interest and uh I think as they see other kids doing it, they're going to be interested. The kids will also have 20 hours each semester where they will go to other schools and actually serve as teachers aids at the different schools. So I think you're going we're going to find a lot of kids are going to be interested in this program and we are excited about it. Prof providing professional development opportunities, working with the directors of instructions and the rest of our staff here. We've been coming up with ideas um to help teachers. You know, we've moved now to your 10ear licenses where you need 270 points. So, we've have to make sure that we're providing them with the resources they

need to be successful in the classroom. Whether it's working with student services for classroom management or just working on literary literacy skills or whatever it is, our instruct our instruction um leaders have been providing those professional development opportunities at the beginning of the school year during work days. So, we're going to continue to do that, but you're going to see a little bit more of what we're going to add to that to make it even more better. And then onboarding and mentoring. I do do the onboarding with the with all of our new teachers. I started out, but we then bring in individuals from technology to our ITRTS to come in and to continue to provide them with what they need so that they can start the year off successful. And mentoring, we have the

two young ladies right here who serve as our leaders of our mentoring program and we're looking at ways to increase that, improve that, getting surveys done to find out what it is that our new teachers are saying, hey, I could have used a little bit more help on that. So, that's something that we're going to be working on. So, where are we going? Well, >> before you move on, uh if if you go back to that slide and I want to make sure that all board members uh have an opportunity to make comments or ask questions. I have some, but I want to give them an opportunity first. >> Is it ready yet? >> Yeah. Well, anyway, um uh appreciation uh of I'm just going to say staff, >> entire staff. That is something that

uh the school board has talked about uh and that we've talked about looking for ways that uh we could show appreciation to you know uh again entire all of our employees which you've already indicated. So, if there are things that you think the school board can do, and maybe one of those things is showcasing appreciation here at board meetings, uh, I think would be awesome. So, I wanted to comment on that. It's so nice to see that effort there. Uh, grow your own teacher program. Uh, board members have been talking about that for a long time. >> Oh, yeah. So it uh I had that flower and when my daughter came to see me I said look at this. So I I mean I think it's so exciting to do that and appreciate all the

effort. Uh I know that our entire board uh believes in professional development uh not just for staff members but for us and we participate in it quite a bit. And then I have a question about the mentoring program. What's the status of second of secondary men program in secondary school? >> Yes. So, I actually sent out an email last night um to Mr. Ran and Miss Calhoun as well as Mr. Eddings. You know, we're still reaching out. We're not going to stop. We're going to start setting up um booths at basketball games, baseball games, football games. Um we do have a list of students we would like to show mentorship to. The issue that we ran into was just having people to be able to come into the building. A lot of them that were

showing interest worked in DC or Northern Virginia. So, we're just trying to move kind of figure out a way how we can do that. We have some ideas um that we're going to work on. We're also I've made contact with several churches just trying to get membership members involved. So, we're going to set up some booths. Um, I've asked them for dates that they're having events so that we can actually go out and represent West Morland County Public Schools to get some mentors. So, we do have a list. We have still been meeting. We're still sending out the letters and we're hoping over the summer that we can really advertise this a little bit more. So, at the be our goal is at the beginning in August, we want to have a plan ready to

go, students ready to go, people who are committed to coming and being a part of it. Yeah, I I do think working with churches >> will have success. >> So, I figure if I go to them >> and actually participate with some of the things they're doing, I think that will help. >> Yeah, I think it would help quite a bit. And would it would it help to have a I don't know a table or booth at First Fridays or fall festival or might that not be good? No, that that is really good because last night they were sending me um because I don't know everything that goes on in the community. I'm still learning. They were sending me some things that I said send me a list of things that are going to be

happening so that we can get up and be ready to go. So they started send Mr. Ran and Miss Eddie they're starting to send me list of things so that we can start participating in more of those and setting up. Okay. >> And I think once it gets out there it's going to take off. Right. >> And once again, if you need our help or want us to >> help in those booths or whatever, please let us know or let me know. >> Okay. >> I can't speak for everyone. >> Well, I mean that that that would be a great opportunity for school board members. >> Yes. >> To show one, show support. >> So, that would be awesome. >> Okay. Any other questions on this page? >> That's it. Thank you. >> You're welcome.

And then next, we want to continue with the consistency of recognizing all staff. So, I wanted to just put some dates out there for you. Teacher appreciation week is May 4th through the 8th. So, we want to make sure that we we're going to be we're working we're going to work with the principles on that to make sure we get some things done. School nurse day is May 6th. And so, we already talked about the administrative assistant day. So, those are just a few dates that are coming up. So school nurse day is May 6th and teacher appreciation week is May 4th through the 8th. One of the things that the Miss Steel and Mr. McConville and I have been talking about is creating professionalmies for our staff and then working with our special ed

department and our student services. So these will bemies where if there's an issue with literacy, we'll have an academy with literacy. So not it's not just we're going to have one day of just literacy, but it's actually an academy where we may meet more than once to have it go for a certain amount of months and they attend these particular trainings and get points for those or do classroom management. I know Miss Steele has suggested a book that we could possibly do a book club working with different individuals to help with classroom management. So thesemmies are something that we are looking forward to next year to be a little bit more intentional and provide them with that support not just a one day thing but kind of make it where through the um couple of

months if they have questions they can reach out here. So we're going to be doing that leadership development pathways just like we're talking about growing our own teachers we should also be talking about growing our own leaders right. So, for instance, recently we had a a special ed teacher apply for aspiring aspiring special education leadership academy. And it's a great program. I've been through it. It's so if you're a special ed teacher and you want to learn the ins and outs about special education from writing grants to to understand the financial part of it to understanding eligibility. So, our person has submitted her application and we're hoping that she gets good news back. They only select 20 out of the state, but when you get involved, it's a whole year program. You go to one

day sessions like every other month, and you get an opportunity to meet various people. And everyone presenting is from BDOE. So, you're meeting the directors of each of these department who actually come in and help you understand the process a little bit better. But we want to do the same things with assistant principles. We want to do the same things in building principles. So, that's something that we're going to be working on next year is building these pathways so that we can get um our people right here to become our leaders because they know our district. They know what's going on. And I think that's important. And then finally, as the exit surveys, as individuals leave us, we want to find out what's going on. It could be for good reason. It could be some

other things, but we're always looking to how do we improve what we're doing? How do we improve ourselves? DOE does have an exit survey. We're going to use that and just kind of tweak it a little bit to fit our needs. So, these are a few places we're heading and we're hoping that you all head there with us so we can make this even better. >> Well, exit exit surveys >> is something else that the board's been discussing for several years at least. Excuse me. So, uh >> everything up there is great. >> Okay, any other questions? So when we, as Miss Rice had said, we've all been working on this plan together along with the steering committee and when we were talking about this presentation, Dr. Baker suggested to Miss Rice that she come

up with a person to present each of one of the goals and he called them ambassadors. So I've already put in my request next year to change my job title to ambassador instead of director. Um, so I'm here to present the communication and family engagement section of the plan. Um, well, where we are now, the strategic plan newsletter was created. When the when the plan was first created, this beginning of the year, we created a newsletter and shared that out on our website and our Facebook page to let people know that the plan had been uh year one of the plan was inactive or wasn't active. Uh, the division newsletter schedule was created as part of our director's team. The schools have their own newsletters that go out on a regular schedule. We want to

do do the same to highlight some of the division initiatives. Um, we're doing a pretty good job at keeping to that schedule. Weather, of course, like Mr. Ma said, when you get ice of 26 that we had never seen before, that kind of messed up our schedule a little bit, but we're going to get back on course. Uh, the student code this year, we took the yellow book that everybody's familiar with and we made it electronic. Uh, and we sent that out as part of a newsletter and on the website, Facebook page. Um, we really think that's going to be a huge improvement, not only a cost saving on paper, but also we'll be able to update it more frequently because it's electronic. So, if something happens in the middle of the year and you

all have a positive change, it can be an immediate change. Uh, the school improvement plans were shared in December at at your all schoolboard meeting. I believe that we were talking about it. That's one of the first times we've had all four schools present at the same meeting in quite a few years. It used to be like one school a month. Um, so you all got to hear all the school improvement plans in December along with the goal boards board goals that you all came up with that aligned with this strategic plan. You all presented those at a board meeting that we shared. Um, and we're looking to expand our parent nights even more. We had our classic literacy nights which has now become the e nights, we have the stream nights, we have the

career night at middle school. We've really had a big expansion this year in all the parent nights and we're looking to continue that for next year. So, where we're headed, we're going to come up with a divisionwide communication plan and calendar. We already have a calendar, uh, but we're going to expand that to make sure that all of the events are on there from all the different schools. And then the communication plan is something, it's going to be like a handbook for our parents to know exactly what all this information means. So, when we send out a message saying there's a code red, what does that mean? And what are the kids doing and what happens? um not only just the basics, you know, closing school for snow and that kind of thing, but all

the different things that happen with lockdown drills and intruder drills and all that kind of stuff. We're going to make sure that we the parents know exactly what all those things are so that when we communicate them out, there'll be no question as to what's going on. Mr. Mago mentioned the welcome center. That's going to be something we develop for all of our new new families in the area. Um just to help them get familiar with West Morland and the schools and how we do things. We're going to continue to expand our family engagement events as much as we can. And then one of the most exciting things that we have coming is a program called Parent Square. Um this will be active as of July one. I'm in the process right now of getting

all the implementation um stuff going talking school so that all the data syncs. But what this will be is kind of a one-stop shop for communication for our parents. So all of our current school messages that go home for closings is done with a program is done with one program and some of our teachers use a variety of different programs for their communication with parents. This will consolidate all of that information into one place. So there's several different ways you'll get this communication. You have phone calls, you have text messages, there's an app where you'll get app notifications, and then there's a social media type page. So, if you're familiar with Facebook, Twitter, that kind of thing, it'll look very similar to that. So, as a parent, if I have three three students in the

division, I can go in and actually toggle between my students and see the teachers page. If they're on a sports team, that person can have a page as a division will have a page, principles will have a page, but instead of having to jump around to all the different places, it'll be in one spot. So all the information that you need about your your student or students will be right there for you. We think this is going to be a huge because right now as a parent from a different school division, I have like four different apps on my phone that I have to keep track of. Okay, my daughter's English teacher uses this and my son's math teacher uses this and it's it's crazy. Whereas if they had this, I'd be a lot happier

as a parent. So, I'm gonna put in some uh good words over there about this one. Um, so we're excited about that for next year. >> Questions on goal four? You're going to hear a lot more about parent square at your June work session. >> Thank you, Chris. >> All right. And I get to bring it home with goal five. This is our last goal that we've been working on, and that's uh efficient and effective system operations. Uh so where we are as you all are well aware you adopted uh the uh budget and it is aligned to the strategic priorities. If you look through the budget and you look through the strategic plan um you'll see great alignment. Uh we did have input from all the schools the departments uh and employee groups through

the communication forum uh to give us input on what needed to be included in uh the budget that you've adopted thus far. Uh we have applied for and received a number of uh grants this year. We applied for this security equipment grant and so we're um using those funds to replace doors and door hardware in uh three of our schools. We uh Mr. McConville applied for the jobs for Virginia graduates grant and was successful in getting that for the high school. Um and we we are using those funds to provide college and career readiness opportunities for our students. Um, Miss Steel applied for a teacher effectiveness grant uh through title 2A and that was awarded and that gives us additional dollars to help our teachers u become certified to teach dual enrollment or to pick

up an endorsement in um an area where they're teaching but maybe don't hold the endorsement currently. Um so uh we've been able to pursue those. Dr. Temple submitted the grow your own uh pre-apprenticeship uh grant application on behalf of our division. Uh we are awaiting the good news that that has been funded. Uh we do fully expect uh that we will receive uh funding, but all of these are competitive grants on top of the um federal application grants that we file routinely. Um all of the grant dollars whether it's competitive or not matter. Um, but we're trying to make sure we know about the ones that we're required to submit. Um, but we're trying to make sure we're on the lookout uh constantly and thank you to some of you send us some uh grant

opportunities. Uh, we're trying to make sure we're pursuing every grant dollar we can get to bring those in and and support things for our students and our staff. Um, we do have our five-year capital improvement plan that was uh completed and adopted and we are implementing that. And then our capital improvement plan funding was secured through collaboration uh with the county. So we're in uh year one projects of the capital improvement plan now and making uh great headway with completing the year one projects. Um in terms of operational achievements, uh we're really pleased. We do have 11 new school buses that have been added um including the six electric uh buses. uh four that are uh running routes at Washington District Elementary and two um that are running routes over to the um Warsaw to

the tech center. Thank you. Um we've also u purchased and so six of those those were grant funded uh buses and then five additional diesel buses have also uh been ordered using our capital improvement funds and our operating budget. So all total we'll have 11 brand new school buses added to the fleet this year. Uh which we think is really significant. Um we have move to leasing vehicles rather than purchasing for um non-buses. So, the cars that transport our students to separate day school facilities, cars that transport students within the division, uh maintenance trucks, uh technology trucks, food service vehicles, every vehicle we have that's not a bus, uh we have moved toward a lease arrangement with enterprise fleet management. And so far, we've been able to um lease 12 new vehicles. What that means

is rather than holding on to an old vehicle for a really long time and getting high mileage before we can sell it and buy another one, um we'll be in a rotation so that none of our vehicles are more than 5 years old and none of them are high mileage vehicles. Uh at the end of the 5-year lease, we can turn it in and use the proceeds toward the next lease. Uh so we think it's going to be a cost savings and then uh most importantly it's going to help us ensure we have uh safer reliable vehicles uh for all purposes. So we have 12 so far. Um and then facility enhancements have included or will include by June 30th uh replacing the kitchen ceiling tiles at both elementary schools schools sorry replacing uh doors

and door hardware at Copel Montrust Middle and Washington district repairing and replacing HVAC all over the division all the schools the central office the TRC um that's a work in progress but we've made tremendous headway uh replacing the gym lighting at Montrust Middle replacing the Chromebooks um for the student use, replacing network cabling and switches at two of the schools, and installing a marquee at Copel Elementary School. So, those projects are either complete or very much underway, and they will be completed by the end of uh June. And then where we're heading um as soon as the state adopts a budget, uh we will be coming back uh after receiving our final state funds and local revenue projections um with a revised budget for you all to once again um adopt and whatever we add

with any additional dollars we receive will be things that have been identified as needs and are aligned to the strategic priorities. Um, also next, uh, we will be implementing the grants that have been awarded and pursuing additional grants, uh, and continuing to complete capital improvement plan projects. Uh finally, next year before the start of the 26 27 school year, it is our goal to have um leased additional vehicles for student transport so that every student who is transported uh in a nonbus vehicle um will be riding in a new leased vehicle and uh in the process we're um eliminating cars and moving toward SUV style vehicles so that it's more spacious uh for the students and the adults. who are renting the car. And then facility enhancements um planned next um that many of which

are underway but won't be completed by June 30th. Uh we are renovating the entrance for Washington District. We're getting our design for the Copel Elementary School multi-purpose building. We'll be adding exterior lighting at um all of the schools. Um, we hope to not hope to, we will be leveling and sprigging uh the practice field at West Morland High School. Um, we had put that we were going to install a wheelchair lift. Uh, but we think we have a better plan for that now. So, that project's on hold. Um, we are continuing with repair and replacement of HVAC and HVAC parts and controllers um until we get everything working perfectly um in all of the schools. And we have uh replacement of network cabling at Copel Elementary School that'll take place this summer. And then finally,

we're looking to install generators at the schoolboard office in TRC so that when we are closed for inclement weather, uh the work can continue because the work must continue. Um and we need internet and uh power to be able to do that. So, and that's all we have to present to you all this evening. So now if you have any additional comments or questions for the entire group, somebody will answer your questions. >> Anyone any questions or comments? >> I did. >> I can't even express how proud I am of you. Um and just how far you've brought us. I've been on this board on and off for quite a few years and um just to know where you've taken us is amazing. Um when I this p just and this is just a small

thing the whole when we had all this ice and crap going on in the winter time large school systems like Fairfax and you know Louden those big huge school systems up there closed down during that time and had and they are having to worry about snow days and I'm like really because our school system they didn't lose days You all took these kids right on through, kept the learning going. And Chris, I don't mean to lose you over there, but I'm including you as well. >> And you as well, because this this leadership is just huge. And when I say this, I mean everyone that's out there, too. It's filtering down. I see it. I hear it. Um, and I just really really I mean this just hits home for me how far we've come

and how bright you all are looking forward. >> It's making me want to cry, but I mean seriously you I'm just so proud. So >> anyone else? >> I think I would just say thank you for your commitment to the work and the follow through. Th this is a an impressive list of accomplishments and also an impressive list of what's going to be accomplished and it doesn't come easy. Uh I know it requires a lot of hard work. Uh I've heard some of this before. Uh I'm going to leave feeling maybe better tonight than I did the last time. So, but but it did I mean it is it's something that we are can be proud of something that makes us feel good. Uh and the communication piece we still need to get the story

out there because and I think about funding you know we get the minimum level of funding >> and you see what's been accomplished. So it requires good leadership, it requires commitment, uh requires a lot of competence. So thank each one of you including Chris. So okay, thanks. Thanks again. Thank you very much. >> In the clicker, you're up next. Well, that one was good. Hopefully I don't mess it up. Um, I did want to say when I sat back down, I failed for elevation and even with Hampton in a school division our size, anytime we bring something on board, everyone touches it. Um, and I especially wanted to thank because it always falls on technology and then Miss Alexander, I know she'll be excited. I'm pointing her out. um she had the hardest task with

elevation. I mean student by student by student and everything. So it takes a whole lot. So I thanked everyone else I think but I forgot those two amazing people as well. Um another thing when we bring things on board um last year we brought on the Hampton a partnership with the Hampton curriculum at both elementary schools and the high school. So they're in year two. Uh the middle school we we we have them doing it this year. Um, and there's a lot I could say about it. I actually was familiar with it in King William. Um, but as we know, it comes down to the teachers and the principles and amazing things. And one of the things I really appreciate working alongside Miss Steel, seeing how hard she's working on it and as well as

Miss Rice and everyone, we're really emphasizing this is a tool because some divisions take a curriculum and you have to do it verbatim all the way across the board. Whereas we really want our teachers to embrace it and get that buy in um and really see it for what it's for is just really to help them. We don't want our teachers the one downside to small divisions and anyone knows I love small divisions more than anything. Um a lot of times you're a singleton teacher like you might be the only chemistry teacher, only biology teacher. Well, this allows us to tap into the Hampton network and they they've been doing this work for a while. I think you guys are very familiar with Dr. Smith. um a little bit >> and he's the one who

got us to bring it to King uh King William and I've seen it in West Morland now as well. Um but Miss Steel spoke about earlier too. Um what it gives us the curriculum but it also allows us to get that collaboration with a larger division. They actually have dedicated teachers for each area. Um that really helps us a lot. Um and the principles have really embraced it. Um, I know the the timing of it and how Hampton has their schedule versus us, for instance, at the high school with the 4x4. So, that's been a major lift and I think there's been some of that elementary >> a little bit. We started a little bit earlier, so we've had to adjust um our pacing. But, um, anything we have not had access to, just an

email to from Hampton and they've been able to get it. >> Yeah, I'd say they're the best partners I've seen. Um because I didn't see it from this level, I saw it from the principal level. They they answer all our questions very quickly. Um but then also the the thing I really like is they do collect feedback. So our teachers can go in if they don't have access to something, they can send an email immediately. If they don't get the answer, they let us know and we can follow up. And so it's a continuous communication thing going back and forth. Um, but it is standard based and they're constantly um bringing it up to whatever our new standards are, the new curriculum is. They're really staying on top of that for us as well. Um,

one of the things we really liked, uh, again, this is all about what we're able to do, what it means for us. Um, but one thing we did this year I thought was very beneficial, uh, Mystel took the elementary teachers actually to Hampton and they visited some elementary schools and then we did the same thing at the middle of high school and the best part was they had teachertoteer conversations. Um, and the thing about that I love it's so organic and one of my things I enjoy most yes they learn about the curriculum but they also come back with a bunch of other stuff. So creating those uh partnerships I think has been really good as well. Um just a couple of things. The with the curriculum, teachers get lessons, lesson plans. Um the plans

are aligned to Virginia standards. They also receive the assessments. So we've been able to align both of our elementary schools with the lessons and um the assessments. We uh purchase mastery connect which is a database somewhat but students take their test in mastery connect and then we are able to look at the data and see how we need to provide support. So it all ties back into um providing that relevant and engaging instruction being data driven and providing our teachers with the support that they need. And one area I failed to mention in the beginning, we really see the benefit for this for new teachers especially. So, you know, there's a huge learning curve with the new teachers, but part of the mentoring program, they come into a curriculum and they really can follow it

step by step until they really learn their own tools and strategies. And the other benefit we saw this year, which I hadn't anticipated, was um when our teachers were coming from overseas and we had long-term subs at the beginning of the year. there may be a lot of reasons for having long-term subs. They can tap into this as well. So, it's really keeping that instruction going um where we'd like to see that be. Um staff and collaboration again, they got to meet um with other Hampton staff, but also within um we do a good job of communicating just within West Morland on the different needs we have at each building. And then they do offer us monthly partner meetings that are very beneficial that we can go on and listen to everything that they have

and all the changes they're going to have for the different years. >> Any questions here? >> As a Hampton Roads native and uh two nephews in Hampton City Public Schools, um I'm just curious um how this how this started. like is this a BDOE approved thing or is this just a partnership with Hampton City Public Schools? >> So, good question. It's a partnership. However, as soon as BDOE releases the criteria to get approved, Hampton is going to submit their curriculum to be approve on the approval for curriculum. >> And I can't remember the year it started. Um I was attending a conference and that's where we got on to for King William, but they've been doing it for a while now. Um, and what's been really nice to see is they've expanded so far. So

it's not even you're just getting Hampton, you're getting feedback from everyone kind of partnering with Hampton. Okay. It's kind of like they spearheaded it, but now every multiple >> Yeah. There are about 20 or so divisions that partner with Hampton and I think I'm thinking about the book. I think Dr. Smith started this in maybe 2016. >> And so it's been a process. Um, and like I said, they are very responsive to our emails. Um, the lesson plans are updated in real time. And again, these are Virginia educators that are creating these lessons and resources for our teachers. >> And even when we brought on Mastery Connect, the I don't know how to say word wasn't very cohesive. Well, Hampton's done the heavy lifting to make it cohesive. So, we're really excited about that next

year. Um, but great question. Yeah, it's been they've done a great job for doing it for a while >> and Mastery Connect is the assessment platform that we're using. >> Okay. Any >> additional questions? Your appreciation day will be a day off. >> Saturday. >> All right. Good evening. So, um I have the pleasure of presenting information on our prek screener. And so, um, last year when we submitted our application to the office of pre preschool programs, they recommended that we do a researchbased screener, which, um, let me back up a little bit. So, we have a local screener that we use to determine eligibility for our prek program. And so, instead of using our local screener, they recommended that we get a researchbased screener. And so, I asked for recommendations. They sent us um,

several. And with the help of our prek teachers, we settled on speed dial 4. So speed dial 4 again is a screener that we use that um provides us with some developmental indicators. It's an assessment um that provides percentile rank, standard scores, agebased cut offs. It's again it supports our eligibility for our prek prek program to help determine the most at risk. So what it does, it has 10 items and those items are in the categories of motor, language and concepts. And I shared a few things, the items down at the bottom. So things like standing, hopping, skipping, students, the children being able to identify their body parts, colors, um articulation, letters and sounds, problem solving, copying, things like that. The assessment probably takes a little bit longer um because we're just starting to use

it this year, but it's um tailored to take about 20 minutes that the prek teacher administers the assessment to the student oneonone. Um and then they document the student scores and then we use that to determine the student's eligibility. So again, speed dial 4 is just used for us as a screener to determine the most at risk when we look at local criteria for eligibility. Um again that at at the bottom you'll see what the score summary looks like. And so as they complete the assessments they document the student score, the child score. They're not a student yet, the child score. And then we use that when we go back to look at eligibility and which students we put the students in order and which students will be most at risk. And then those are

the students that we target first as we're creating our our classes. >> Any questions, comments? >> Thank you very much. You're welcome. >> This was one of those uh >> you get a break now. Maybe. >> Thank you. >> Okay, next. Um, do we have a report from the Novan Technical Center, Mrs. May? Well, um I just wanna and maybe I can get some help from you to help explain this, but we were informed um at the last meeting about a concern that RCC their dual some of their dual enrollment programs um are not allowing students to move on and take those credits on to the four-year colleges. So even though they're getting credit at the community college, um they're not transferable. And so then the question was, is it worth the money to spend

for a dual enrollment program or course supposed dual enrollment that doesn't transfer the student anywhere and what does that mean? Um, so we're looking at options or they are looking at options. We all are looking at options about um whether we'll continue to use RCC for certain things. Um, but they will probably not have as many dual enrollment courses in the future >> At the tech center. So is this like nursing medical stuff or >> culinary? >> So they're looking at some other options as to what might have to happen there. That's why I was so concerned about the things that Chris had mentioned because um I'd hate to see that happen and then all of a sudden their kids can't do aren't able to transfer their credits. >> Just seems a little ridiculous. And

I don't know if this is happening I don't know I don't know if you know this um the answer to this but um is this happening with all community colleges or is this just something RCC >> I I don't know the answer to that. >> I'm not sure. I'm not sure. So >> um one reason it it's coming up as an area of concern though is what is happening with all the community colleges is um the tuition rate might be increase uh for students to be able to take the dual enrollment courses. So then the money becomes a factor where um we haven't had to contribute necessarily as many dollars in the past, but it looks like um through the community college system, we may be having to pay more for each course. So it

becomes a a factor. >> But will it allow them to transfer the credits on? That's the bigger that's the bigger concern for me >> and that's the issue is it goes back to why pay for >> what am I pay for it if it's not going to anything >> right >> so that's just a huge red flag for me um for our courses and for our students and so I'll keep you all pressed I guess as we know more um because if it's just RCC then do we look at attempting to team with another community college to allow that to transfer. And can we because that's also a regional thing too. You're supposed to kind of stay within your region and all that kind of stuff. So I'm not sure what it was like totally

surprised me. Um so I'll keep form informed as to what may be coming forward but it um certainly it was a concern >> or is a concern for me. Um other than that I'll look at that. >> Did you want to mention on the good news side the EMS program? >> Oh yes yes we will be having an EMS yes on the good side. So here's the bad news here. Um we there will be an EMS program um next starting next year. >> Awesome. Um so um huge advance forward there for communities. They have some community team members from all the different counties who are going to help a lot of the chiefs EMS chiefs from the different counties who are going to be involved in helping with that. And so um I'm hoping that'll

be a big help to our local to our local rescue squads and fire departments. So, >> so the if I understood correctly, the upcoming year is uh planning year and then the kids can actually start to take the class in two years. >> Correct. >> Sorry. >> No, you said it. >> Okay. Any uh questions for Miss Mayan or any additional comments? >> Thank you very much for for that. So, Dr. Wallace, you still there? I sure am. >> Excellent. Do you do you have a report from the Chesapeake Bay Governor's? >> Yeah, I I don't really have anything new to report. It's been a fairly uneventful last couple of months. >> Uneventful is good. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you, Dr. Wallace. >> Thank you, Dr. >> So, Miss Rice, upcoming events. >> Yes,

Um, I just want to say

that I appreciate the level of um, I don't know if communication is the right thing to say, but in conversations where we've asked questions, what is this Hampton thing? What is, you know, this screening prek thing that there's followup to that? And we're learning along with you all as you have started implementing implementing these new programs and um, things like that. so that we're all on the same page and understanding of what's happening, what's taking place. So, thank you. >> Anything else? >> That's it. >> Okay. Thank you. Okay. Dr. Wallace, >> nothing to add. Thank you. >> Wonderful meeting. >> Yes, Miss Rice. >> No, sir. >> Okay. Uh, we have that uh fiscal cohort on the 30th, so I guess I don't think we'll have another meeting before then. So is travel arrangements

the same and the time deposit time. >> Sure. Yeah. >> Okay. >> Just wanted to just wanted to make sure. Thank you. >> 6:30. Is that what we decided on? >> What are we doing? 6:30, right? Is there a second? >> Amy Rich second. >> All in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> We are journ. Thank you.
