My name is Chelsie Webb. I teach P.E. at PineCrest Elementary. I started off in kindergarten at Cottonwood. And then when I was in fourth grade, Silver Ridge opened. So I went to Silver Ridge Elementary from fourth through sixth grade. And then I went to Ridgetop Junior High. Now middle school and Central Kitsap High School. I am a fourth generation teacher. My great grandmother taught elementary school up in Edison, Washington, starting in the 1920s. So teaching is kind of in my blood. My parents taught in CK. I started student teaching at Jackson Park Elementary in college, and then Jackson Park was my first job where I got my own classroom, and I've subbed in every single school in our district. I also subbed in South and North, and I subbed in Bremerton and across the water
and every place I went I kept thinking: CK’s better. I would rather be there. I mean, it's beautiful here, but this feels like home. This really community. Since I grew up in CK schools before I even got to school because of my parents. This is where I feel most at home. I got hired at PineCrest in 2010 and I've been here ever since. I started teaching third grade and mostly fourth grade at PineCrest. I did that for about ten years, and then I got my PE endorsement and our PE teacher retired. So I became the PE specialist in 2021. I loved teaching fourth grade. It was my favorite age, but I have really enjoyed the transition to being a PE teacher to get to see every kid in the school. I know everybody and they
know me, and I get to see them from kindergarten through fifth grade, and I get to see them grow. As humans and as PE students, their skills. And then just getting to know them and their families has been really rewarding. I really enjoy seeing kids get it for the first time, whether it's sounding out a word when I taught first grade or figuring out how to finally add fractions, or when they can do a skill at that they've really tried over and over throughout the years, like jump roping, they can finally get it. When I see that little spark that makes it, it makes it all worth it. So finding things that each kid can feel successful at, that is really important to me. One of my favorite memories from my elementary P.E. was roller
skating in the gym, and when I became a PE teacher, that was one of the first things I was excited about doing was getting the skates in here and watching kids skate. Somebody in my family has taught in CK since 1976, so it's been 50 years of a Webb in CK. It feels like the people that I grew up with are still with the district, and then new people are coming in that are kind of like continuing on that family. My, my own children go to CK schools. It's like a home because I have my, my friends here and my coworkers that I care about and the students I care about. It's kind of like a little family at PineCrest, but then I have a wider experience with people from all over the district. The
longer I've been here, the more people I know and, the more new people that come in. It's fun to add to that family.
