Right. What is the Thank you. Oh, okay. Let's go. >> [music] >> Thank you. >> [music] >> I don't know. Thank you. There's actually I'm ready. All right, I think we're ready to get started. Um, welcome to Spring Play. Uh, it's, uh, shaping up to be a tradition that this is the coldest day of the winter. Thanks for being here. Um, first off, I guess you please take a moment to sign your cell phone and your devices. Um, I also want to point out that on the back of your program, there is a listing of upcoming orchestra dates for the rest of the year, as well as a little bit of information about our middle and high school um, solo and ensemble events. So hopefully um, if your student has expressed any rumor or interest
at all, I've sent home a um, a form for solo ensemble. Those are due at the end of January for middle school. um high school kids obviously at around the same time. Um if you if you or your child have talked about it but you haven't seen that form yet, ask them about it or I brought you with me in case you want to travel soon after. Um eighth graders uh your field trip form is also due on January. So if you haven't seen that field trip form come through that should be that was sometime last week as well. Um so thanks for being here. Thanks for being part of our music program in Grand and um we hope you enjoy this evening of seeing the progress of our students from fifth grade school. [applause]

And they um shared some animal facts with me and they are going to um share them with you. invited some creators that want to share their animals to come on up and going to help them. Hello, my name is Joe. My favorite animal facts are your animals don't get cancer. Pray and
pray. Sometimes you don't. [applause] >> Hello, my name is Hazel. I play the violin. My favorite animal practice. Bunnies only eat one carrot every month. [applause] Hello, my name is Sophie and I play the viola. My favorite animal is axel [applause] and male versus animals. [applause] Hello, my name is and I am one of my favorite animals. 005[music] [applause] >> All right. Thank you all for coming. I know it's really, really cold outside, so we appreciate having such a nice crowd for our annual country here. Um, I've got a few people to thank, uh, and a couple announcements of my own. Um, just because I know I'm a new face to a lot of you. Uh, if you don't know me, my name is Kyle Henderson. I'm the high school orchestra director, which is for many years the only thing I ever did at this concert and I feel like this is a doing so much work. Uh, I can run it back and forth between the groups, but it's actually been my pleasure the last few years to have been helping out with the elementary orchestra. And last year and this year I've had
the opportunity to go to the middle school and work with some of the uh some of the eighth graders as well and some individual and small group lessons. It's been a lot of fun. So um I love working with all the students here in uh a few people to thank. I'd like to thank the administration for both Middle School and uh Beaver Dam High School for their support. Uh Mr. Greg Richard the live stream for us uh sound and everything. A big thank you to him. >> [applause] >> Concerts like this and uh tomorrow night parade events uh don't don't happen without the support of our buildings grounds and custodial teams for uh pulling down the screens uh covering the floor, pulling up the bleak and use all sorts of support moving instruments as well.
So please a big round of applause for building. [applause] Thank you. Uh there's also a number of people listed on the back of your program uh if you'd like to see some more wonderful people looking to support music in our schools. Uh Mrs. Neighbor touched on this uh as well, but uh we uh host solo ensemble here at Uber High School every year. Uh and if you are available on March 7th and want to help out with the festival, we get a number of different um ways that we can use assistance from uh washing the rooms, uh set up and tear down concessions, uh helping our office. Uh any help is greatly appreciated for that. Many of the students you see here tonight uh will be there that day performing in many different capacities. So
they really appreciate your support. Uh, I just mentioned it, but if you're free tomorrow night and not too cold, want to see some more awesome music, our bands do have their big combined concert tomorrow night. We're very excited to get back to that, the band program. Um, we were actually snowed out last year from that one. Uh, we were never able to reschedu, but going forward, we have a makeup date in the calendar. So, in the event that either of these concerts ever get snowed out or gets too cold or something, we've got a makeup date in there. So, um there's upcoming performances in there, but there's one that didn't find its way into there. The high school orchestra has added a concert this year. Uh those of you who are uh sophomore, junior, senior
parents, this is a new concert for us um that we've at least since I've been here the last 10 years, we've never done this. But on March 10th, the high school orchestra has a new concert where we're going to uh show off some of our solo and ensemble large groups. Uh we'll do a few members with the whole group as well, but kind of a new one for us. So excited to present uh some music to you in a new way uh on that concert. So hope you can join us for that. That's March 10th. Um okay, I'm talking a lot of people in here. Uh on your way out tonight, if you have a couple bucks to throw in our wicker baskets, we do take a free will donation at all of our concerts
here at the high school that goes directly to support all the wonderful student musicians you see here. Um okay. Um I forgot to do this last year and I realized it on the way home, but I want to make sure I do it this year. Um, there's lots of kids here who this may be their first time doing this. It may be their fourth time and it may be their last time. But I want to recognize two specific groups of people. Can you stand up right now? This is your very first string plane. >> [applause] [applause] >> Now, can you say that this is your last point? [applause] >> [applause] >> the high school orchestra and I were talking the other day and we figured uh it's uh many of the seniors going to be
in fourth grade. So for them it would be like the eighth or ninth starting point that they've done which is uh it's an impressive commitment sticking with something for that many years. Um so thank thank you all. Okay. Uh we ended playing the same way every time with a combined piece. Uh and sticking with our theme uh of of an animal theme, uh we're going to do Scooyoo. I say stay warm. [applause] All right, we go. One, two, up. Two, three, four. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. >> [music] [music] >> I tell you. Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Can't wait. [applause] >> [applause] >> Thank you all. Have a great night. We'll back you shortly.
