This development in sustainable energy sources and the winds that flow across the great state serve as the inspiration for this composition. The piece begins by depicting the great open spaces that stretch for miles across the Oklahoma landscape. Small gusts of wind represent represented by scalar and arpeggiated passengers in the mallet and woodwinds dance across the landscape. The piece picks up pace as the wind races across the land, turning the turbines and change charging towards the future. [laughter] [applause] Hallelujah. [music] Heat. [music] [music] Heat. Originally composed for orchestra in 2008 as the opening piece for the Eric Kunzel Sun Valley Festival Orchestra, it has been masterfully adapted for concert band by Steven's first composition professor, David Schaefer. Written in the style of a fanfare/overture, this exciting work opens with brass fanfares and woodwin flourishes. Typically typical of Steven's writing, the main theme of the piece is a beautiful and flowing melody complemented by masterfully written countermelodies and spectacular in-your-face brass punctuation. [applause] It's the most wonderful time of the year is a popular Christmas song written in 1963 by Edward Polo and George Wild. It was recorded and released that year by pop singer Andy Williams for his first Christmas album, the Andy Williams Christmas album. The song is a celebration and description of activities associated with the Christmas season, focusing primarily on gettogethers between friends and families. Among the activities included in the song, the storytelling of scary ghost stories, a Victorian Christmas tradition that has mostly fallen into disuse, but survives in the seasonal popularity of numerous adaptations of Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol. Other activities mentioned included hosting parties, spontaneous visits from friends, spending time with loved ones, sledding, roasting, sledding, roasting marshmallows, sharing
015stories and about previous Christmases, and singing Christmas carols. [cheering] [applause] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] >> [music] >> Heat. [music] Heat. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Heat. [applause] >> [cheering] [applause]
