Um, so I will call the next meeting to order. Uh, this is our a regularly scheduled April 27th, 2026 meeting of the Hartford Joint One School District Board of Education. Could I please have a roll call for the members in attendance? >> Mr. Beck >> present. >> Lender >> here. >> Mr. Pmore >> here. Trump >> present. Miss W >> here. Thank you. This is a meeting of the board of education in public for the purpose of conducting the district's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There is a time for public participation during the meeting as indicated in the agenda. Any district resident or parent of a currently enrolled student wishing to speak should have filled out a form on file uh and given it to Miss Hoffman. The very
first thing that we will do is you will say the pledge of allegiance. If you could please rise with me. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. Tonight's agenda notes the board's mission of we will support our communities through dedicated governance, leadership, and stewardship so that our students achieve. It also states the board's values and expectations in governing our meetings. The purpose of the agenda approval is twofold. The first reason is to verify that public notice has been given according to state statute 19.84. Miss Hoffton, has the meeting been properly noticed? >> Yes. >> Thank you. The second reason for approval of the agenda is to consider tableabling
an item or to rearrange the order of events. Is there a motion to approve the agenda? >> I motion to approve the agenda. >> Second. Thank you, Miss Lender and Miss Wil. >> Okay. Could I have a vote, please? >> Um, Don, >> hi. >> Ian, >> hi. >> Louise, >> hi. >> Aaron, >> hi. >> And I'll vote I. >> Perfect. Thank you. Uh, what I'd like to do is we have a lot to celebrate tonight and we've got a full audience. So, I'm very excited to uh recognize our staff members. However, first we are going to recognize our schoolboard members. So, as you know, there was an election earlier this month, and three of our sitting board members were reelected. Mr. Grbebeck to three ter three years, Miss Wil to three years, and
Mr. Pridemore to one year. And so, we thank them for running for office again and for service to the community. They've already taken their official oath of office. However, at this point in time, for a picture, a photo opportunity, I would like them to rise. Uh, if you could stand please and we will go ahead and have you recite the oath of office momentarily. The very first thing that we will do and we're going to start Ian with you and then Miss Wilk and then Mr. Pridemore. Um we'll state I and then you'll state your name then you Aaron and then you Don so that way you don't all say it at the same time and then we'll read the oath together. Okay. So you'll all read it together. All right. Make sense? >> Yeah.
>> Okay. Perfect. three, you can go ahead. >> Ian Granbeck, >> Aaron will hi Don Pridemore. Having been elected to the office of the board of education for the school district number one, but have not yet entered upon the duties thereof, swear or affirm that I will support the constitution of the United States and the Constitution of State of Wisconsin and will faithfully discharge the duties of office to the best of my ability. So help me God. >> Thank you. And if you could remain standing for a minute. Congratulations, Mr. Pridemore. Thank you. Welcome, Miss Wil. Thank you. Congratulations. >> Thank you so much. Congratulations. >> Okay, you can have a seat now. And what I would like to do next is we have two very important staff members in the audience. And I have
um two plaques, one for each of you. So, if I could have both of you come up and stand by the podium and let me talk about you. Then we're going to get a photo with both of you individually, one with the school board, uh, and one with your building leadership team. So, there's going to be a lot of photos, so please do not run back to your seat. Okay. Um, Mr. Relug, am I loud enough or do you need me to stand closer? Okay, great. Perfect. So, we're gonna go in alphabetical order instead of that you first. Okay. So, this year, Miss Burger was nominated as our support staff member of the year and through a selection process that included numerous applicants, Miss Burger was the one that was selected by our committee. Uh
she was selected for multiple reasons, but first and foremost, she is a huge mentor for all of our staff members, whether she's an official mentor or whether it's one that you just choose to take under your wing. The consensus from those on the committ know her said she spends time with them whether it's during the workday or after the workday checks in with them on her cell phone and make sure that they have what they need to be successful which is critical when we're starting to onboard new staff members in addition to that obviously being a support staff member we want to make sure that they work well with students and one of the things that I love and it's the first thing that I asked the first graders when I walked into her room
to uh to surprise her with this award was so the the committee and the students described you as do you remember >> firm football and and the kids without skipping a beat said yeah she is and so it was fantastic because we do know that we hold our students to expectations and when we hold our students to expectations they will rise and meet those expectations and so you've done a magnificent job with that um beyond her own duties each and every day and she also So makes an effort to attend professional development opportunities whether inside the district or outside of the district and has also come back to work to share what she's learned with other support staff members. She's been involved in different committees and supporting different events at her school building and so
just all around physical and very much appreciated. Um the last thing I wanted to say about Miss Burgerer is that and one of her children is here tonight perhaps more. I only know the other guy is they all are they um I've met them all before but I know one much better than the others and uh pursuing education and so we know that when you become an educator it's not because you are out there to make the most money it's because you're out there to make a difference and you truly care about our future and so one you live that each and every day but two you've instilled that in your own children. So with that congratulations So, you're up. >> Okay. So, um, the beginning of my my presentation starts out the same for
Juliana as well as it did for Angie in that, uh, the committee had nothing but good things to say about the number of teachers who were nominated for this award and several who were very qualified, right? We have an incredible team here at Hartford Joint One and what it came down to was several things. Um, and you'll hear some similar veins of thought um from my previous presentation. But first and foremost, um, we just got done with the musical. >> And while not necessarily a school production, this is something that is at the heart of what makes our kids thrive. And it's a very public way to bring people into our school district and get them involved and get them seeing not only what our kids are capable of, but also what we have to
offer. And our students are very talented and be develop those talents and those skills underneath the direction of you and others. And so um Miss Gity is involved both inside and outside of school. Uh we know that math teachers, reading teachers, our elementary school teachers, a lot of the assessments are paper and pencil or on a computer. Well, Miss Gar's assessments are live and her in front of everyone. And so you can see all of the fruits of her labor pay off anytime that you come to our concerts or to our events. Not only is she there for her own concerts, she is also there supporting every one of her colleagues and making sure that she is there to provide hands, not only moral support, but also that support of whatever they need, whether it's
student supervision or help with planning and preparation. And so again, very visible to our community, to our staff, to our students, and to our families. Um, beyond that, we look at the school day and what happens within the school day. And music is an elective. Um, it's also required at some grade levels. Um, but students kind of vote with their feet and they go where they feel cared for and where they're developed. And that has shown up. Um, in one of um, Miss Gary's responses to one of her questions, she talked about her belief in students. And one of the things that I tried to remind our team of is that we have our students for just a snapshot of the day. And what we do with that time is our choice. We either can
make the most of it or we can hold our students back. And in her essay response, one of the things she talked about was a student who maybe wasn't so successful um in some of their classes. However, she believed in that student, pulled them aside, had a conversation with them, and help them believe in themselves and help them find a place to excel. And we know that we all have different strengths and different weaknesses. And so instead of focusing on those weaknesses, Miss Gary helped that student develop their strengths. And now that student is in college actually working on theater, I won't say what um but working uh as a major in theater. Um she also brings her mother in to help support us. And so this is not just a a onewoman show. This
is a family affair and we very greatly appreciate that. And I know that you have some of your teammates in the back. And what I would say that has been reiterated from year over year is that she's not focused just on herself and what goes on in her classrooms, but she like Miss Burgerer checks in and makes sure that her colleagues have what they need. Um, last year we had the difficult time of we turned over the entire music department except for Miss Harry and that could have set us back. Um, it really could have. But I will tell you that the two new teachers that were hired for our music department had nothing but amazing things to say about Juliana and the support that she provided them. And now this year we've added an
art teacher and same thing. Um Juliana will reach out and support people whether she's an official mentor or not. And so just being there not only organized but just providing that support. So again a huge congratulations to you and thank you so much for all your that this will be the time to start taking pictures. So, um, Miss Hoffman, is this podium out of your way? >> Okay, good. So, we'll do one of the two of them first and then board members, while we're gathering this picture, if I could have you come this way. And building leadership teams, if I could have you start coming this way for photos. >> Okay, you got both of them. Okay, perfect. So, school board, let's have you come on in right away. This is not the perfect. Thank
you. >> All right. someone else. >> Did they turn out? >> Everyone hold. >> Okay. All right. And then if I could build a leadership team, so you could come forward and board members, you can make your way back to your seat. Um I think that we'll do Would you prefer them separate one one then the other or do you want them all? >> I'll do them separate. >> Separate. Okay. So >> I I say do this do your building first. We're all >> I didn't know what separate means. buildings. Got >> just and then um you clearly have a fan base and so I know that we're here celebrating these two magnificent women tonight but I also want to say there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes and so to all of
you who are friends and or family thank you for sharing these two with us because they have made a huge impact on the students, the staff and community. So, thank you for sharing this with us. >> So, Miss Gary will be recognized at the um Rotary meeting. um next month, which is next week, which is crazy. Um and then Miss Burgerer and Miss A, uh Miss Burgerer and Dr. Buie and I will be going out um in a couple of weeks, I think it is, to recognize her um achievement. So, thank you all. Okay. Uh next up on the agenda is our election of board officers. So, because tonight is the first meeting of the new board, even though they look the same, um we will make sure that we are electing a president and
then we will elect a vice president, a treasurer and a clerk. Um not necessarily in that order. Um because we are electing those positions, I will be doing nominations or conducting nominations for the president and then once a new president is elected, that president will take over. Um Before we begin that, I will remind you this is a public board meeting. You are all welcome to stay for the entire meeting. We would love it if you're here to watch the meeting. But if you are also like I was just here to support the the staff of the year, there is no judgment and there is no pressure to make you stay. So it is okay either way. We are just going to continue with our operations. And if you're here, thank you so much. And
if you leave, thank you for coming for part of the meeting that you did attend for. Okay. So, um without further ado, I will be conducting nominations for the office of presidents. Is there any board member who wishes to make a nomination for the office of the president? >> Nominate Barb Linders. >> Um Mr. Pridemore nominates you, Miss Linder. Will you accept the nomination? >> Yes, I will. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. And then I do need to call three times. So, are there any other nominations? I nominate will for the office of president. Miss Wolf, do you accept the nomination? >> I do. >> Okay. Thank you. And again, one more time, are there any other nominations? I feel like that's sufficient wait time. So, what I'm going to do is let you
know that with the two nominations, what will happen next is Miss Hoffman will be handing out the ballots. Um, each board member will place a vote for one of the nominees. We have Miss Linder and Miss Wilk. Um please make sure that you write clearly and then Miss Hoff will collect your votes and we will read the total um counts for each individual and we will proceed from there. As a reminder, um all of the uh roles were attached, the board policies that provide information on each of the four roles were attached to the the packet that went out. So, if you do have any questions um or if you're not sure if you want to accept a nomination, if you're nominated a future position. Um, please feel free to look at those policies that
were attached. >> Okay. Um, elected to the role of board president was Erin Wil. And so with that, I'll turn it back over to Miss Wilp to conduct the elections for vice president, for clerk, and for treasurer. Thank you very much. Are there any nominations for the office of vice president? >> I'll nominate Luis Shroom for vice president. >> Luis nominated vice president. Will you accept that? >> I will. >> Are there any other nominations for a vice president? >> I nominate Barb Linder. >> Barb, you've been nominated vice president. Would you accept that? >> Sure. >> Are there any? Yeah. Are there any other nominations for vice president? I think we waited long enough. So at that point we have two people nominated for our blender and then we shrunk. So Mrs. Hoffman's going
to deliver us ballots. We'll do the same thing again. Right. What And the results are that we have a vice president of Luis Shrunk. Thank you. We're going to move on to the office of the clerk. Are there any nominations for the office of the clerk? >> I nominate Barb Linder for the office of clerk. >> Barb, would you accept that? >> Yes. Are there any other nominations for the office of clerk? One more time. Are there any other nominations for the office of the clerk? Seeing no more nominations, um I'm looking for a motion to close those nominations and pass the unanimous ballot >> for Barb Linder with ministerial duties delegated to the board secretary. >> Am I saying anything particular? Just motion to close. Oh, I see it. Uh motion to close nominations
for clerk of the board of education and cast a unanimous ballot for Barb Linder with ministeral duties of the clerk delegated to board secretary. >> Thank you. Is there a second? >> A second. >> All in favor? >> I I any motion carries. Thank you. >> Are there any nominations for office of the treasurer? >> I nominate Ian Brown for the office of treasurer. Ian, would you accept that nomination? >> Yes. >> Thank you. Are there any other nominations for the office of the treasurer? >> Are there any other nominations for office of the treasurer? Seeing none, I would look for a motion for one nomination for a unanimous ballot. I'll make a motion to close nominations for treasurer of the board of education and cast a unanimous ballot for Ian Gr with mineral duties
of the treasurer delegated to the business services director. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Thank you, Ian. >> Our next item are board appointments. The first that we have to look at is the WASB delegate. Um, I really would like to appoint Louise Shrunk as the WASB delegate and Ian Brown as an alternate. We're both interested in that. I'm saying this because you've both been very involved in going to um a lot of the events and that is really what this is about and bringing that information back to the board. I'm hoping that you would be the delegate and be the ultimate. Would you accept that? >> I will. >> Yes. >> Wonderful. The next item is the C6 board of control which just to give I
asked a little bit of questions about this because we don't always have to appoint anyone to serve on the C6 board of control. Were you able to get a date? I do I have that information. Um so first of all can I are you comfortable more context? >> Okay. >> So the CISA 6 board of control has one board member from every district in CISA 6. However for the Hartford area school districts where there we are a consortium we rotate that. So that's why this only comes up once every five or six years. And so currently it is Dan Sigman from the H&R school district. this next term is ours and then we won't come back up again for a few years. What this entails is there is an annual meeting for the CISA6 board
of control that occurs on June 17th. Um so that is this year June 17th a couple months from now at 5:30 p.m. That's up in Ashkosh. That meeting is required of this position. Then just like us, they subsequently have one monthly meeting and serving on the board of control, you are able to go to that meeting. However, it is not required. Um, and if you really want to get involved, they also do their positions just like we do. So, you can run for um an appointment up there as well. But the main thing is the board of control annual meeting, which is June 17 at 5:30 in about two months at CC6. Wednesday I cannot make it. So >> yeah, I was very interested in serving this but I up north on vacation that >>
up north sounds like cash area there. >> Um I think because it is required that we be there June 17th. I kind of need to know who is interested and who would be available and you just said that you're not available June. I was really hoping to meet you do this but I'm not will >> I think I would be available this is June >> June 17th >> and again then that person can go to monthly meetings it's not this the June 17th is required monthly ones are not but encouraged to you know be involved >> um >> if something was to happen where she couldn't make it you know extreme case could like Louise go in herstead or We could uh Miss W could select an alternate >> then I would like to appoint
Barb Blender to serve on the C6 board of control and I'd like to also appoint as the alternate accept that wonderful. Okay. Item C is a resolution authorizing the designation of public deposiitories. Annually the board must select our deposiitories. These have not changed in last year but in the motion I would like you to list them all. Motion to approve the resolution authorizing the design designation of public deposiitories of Associated Bank, Associated Trust Company, Heritage Bank, Bank 59, Forte Bank, Landmark Credit Union, PMA Financial Network, Robert W. Baird, Wisconsin Investment Series Cooperative, and the Wisconsin State Local Government Investment Pool for 2026 through 2027. >> I'll second. I is there any questions on the public? If not, could we leave a roll call, please? >> Don, >> hi. >> Aaron, >> I. >> Louise, >>
Ian, >> I. >> And I'll vote I. >> Motion carries. Item D is the approval of regular board meetings and budget hearing times and dates. The meeting schedules are drafted for meeting dates options. Um, they are included in the packet. The budget annual meeting would be in October and the organization meeting would be in April of 27. We need a motion in a second and then we can have some conversation about this. >> Oh, am I reading the purple? Right. Motion to hold. >> Sorry. Yes. >> Motion to hold the regular school board meetings on the blank. Right. Am I that's the same bill that >> you're ch you're choosing something. >> Okay. >> It could still get amended later. Well, I'm I like the Wednesdays, so I don't have it pulled up, though. >>
I don't think Wednesday was on there, was it? >> No, it's Monday and it's um if I may, it was not given to as an option, but the motion still could be made. And if it gets a second and you vote yes, then that could be the new >> um possibility for next year. I'll make a motion to hold the regular schoolboard meetings on the fourth Wednesday of the month with a regular meeting time of at 6 pm at the district building. The budget hearing annual meeting will be held on October any date. >> Um that Wednesday, sorry, I'm 2026. That's the >> 28th 2027. >> Um 267th >> of 2027. I need a second. >> Do need a second. Yes. You said October 28th. >> Yes. >> I'll second. >> Okay. We can have
some discussion or conversation. And if you need to grab out your calendar, I suggest you do that. >> I did. Oh, did someone Yeah, he said okay. Yeah. >> So, I chose Wednesdays just because Mondays seem really tight for everyone. for myself for uh Dr. V Lobos and uh it gives us actually you know gives us a little leeway. Wednesdays seem to be more clear in my personal calendar than Mondays and Tuesdays but um yeah there also church activities that may conflict but most of them are don't involve me. I second because the town of Aaron has their board meetings on Monday. >> Who does? The town of Aaron. >> Town of Aaron. >> The same Monday every month. The same as ours. >> Their school board. >> No, the town of Aaron. >> Town
of town board. >> The city council for >> Oh, are you city council? >> The town board. >> I don't have to believe that. I do like to go to meetings. Okay. Yeah. All right. And Tuesdays is uh BFW meetings for me. >> And I like anything other than Monday. >> Friday nights at 700 p.m. Does that No. >> No. >> Okay. So, not anything other than Monday. Mondays have always been my favorite, but I completely understand that they don't work best for everyone. I guess given wish to shop maybe Wednesdays are preferred over Tuesdays. >> I mean, the high school does have their board meetings Wednesdays, but they that could change too. It's on the fourth Wednesday right now, but >> they could change. They changed it. >> I think my calendar synced with
there. It's says the 27th of May and the 24th of June, but they changed that for certain reasons, certain board members from my understanding. So that could change as well. They could go back to a different We don't know, >> right? Because their meeting isn't until May when they actually set their >> Adam or Dr. Bill, how do you feel about Wednesdays? Is that appropriate to ask? >> I I'm going through right now and building that schedule. Um I'm I'm up to November and there is a conflict in November with Thanksgiving. Um but >> for the fourth Wednesday I and I say conflict, I'll be here. You'll be here because people are traveling or something that might not be a popular day that day. >> We would just have to move it to the third
or something. Okay. >> Yeah, I do have that on my calendar. I'm gone in September um for that that meeting. The Wednesdays is preferable for everyone else over Tuesdays. >> I've got all soccer on Wednesdays kids, but it's >> Yeah, I'm sure I'm going to have sports conflicts, too, but I have other myself. if I have other coaches, but I don't. So, >> so was July the 22nd or the 29th? The 22. >> 22nd, >> but uh not approve it, too. So, if we didn't want to agree to Wednesdays, someone would have to what to make deny it. >> We have to vote it down and then have a meeting >> unless you wanted to amend your original motion. to agree to it. >> I I will tell you I just finished um looking through
next year. Um the conflicts that I see are September for me um November because of Thanksgiving and winter break. >> Yeah. >> And and typically when that happens, we move it one week earlier. So it would be the third week of the month instead of the fourth week of the month. >> Or those weeks we also could say to move them to Tuesdays. That way we're going to avoid the You you can do whatever you would want for those >> for those options. >> Were there any other that you noticed? >> Spring break. >> When is spring break? >> Uh March. >> We're gone. >> Okay. So there would be four conflict. >> Are we here on the Tuesday though? The 23rd then? >> No. >> That's when we started on the 22nd. That would
have to be I >> mean we normally move >> looking just one week earlier when it's on winter break or spring break one week earlier but could do a week later because there is a 31st of March there is the last Wednesday you said there's five in March which is if people aren't working then you're not going to get four packet until one day >> or if there's any deadines to meet >> guys don't want to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the board. >> I know there is that sounds like a great >> I was wondering why people were said drunk. >> It's a reason to stay away from them. How do you feel about it, Darren? Wednesdays. >> I mean, >> I don't know. >> It's out of the norm. >> My challenge is
just Yeah, Mondays are just easier for me because I I don't have my kids to deal with for the rest of the night. I do. That's >> Yeah, single parent. I'm willing to I can be very flexible. Mondays do work for me. >> Wednesdays also work for me. >> I know that Mondays aren't good for everyone. So, I think you I'm just that bullet. Yeah, Mondays and Wednesdays are the best for me. Tuesdays don't seem that great, my personal calendar. But >> um for our building principles, do you have a lot of events on Wednesday nights or anything like that? Why not? >> Okay. So, they could be scheduled around those if that's the new date that's selected. >> Third Wednesday, it's probably this Ross and P2 >> probably more concerts though scheduled on mid
but >> shared that they haven't scheduled >> right but normally you don't schedule on Monday so like I would normally plan a concert Wednesday Thursday >> so like I couldn't see that being a problem >> Tuesdays I don't know my own child's concert is on Tuesday >> Tuesday and Thursday >> feel like I like just because of what you're saying there were less things being scheduled, but >> you have accomplished the Monday. I know it's not ideal for you guys from an administrative perspective to get everything together the Monday. >> What was what was Tuesday for you? >> BFW meetings. >> How meetings are on Thursday? >> How often are the BFW meetings? >> Once a month. What week of the month? >> First conflict because we're talking about the fourth >> you have soccer
Tuesday too >> others. Okay. >> But either way if there is an event that just so right now we have a motion for Wednesdays. Do we have any other real concerns from you guys? scheding perspective that we should take into consideration. We're going to have to move several of them to earlier or later. Do we need to do that right now and assign all of the dates? >> We have to vote for the calendar. >> Yes, because we have no meetings scheduled for next month. Well, we did vote for next month. >> I thought we did have the 18th because of the special circumstances. >> No. >> Okay. Next week. Next month. I'm sorry. I am proposing for next month that we meet on the third Monday which is May 18th because I do have
conflicts for next month but I will not be able to switch around for the other options that we've been considering. Um just important for you going off of Ian's original Wednesday proposal made I was asked to serve on one other um board and I'm just realizing that's what I'm saying. I don't know what might be. Um >> so it sounds like that it'd be better to just keep it on Mondays so I could amend my >> I mean just based on >> it sounded like Wednesday. So I don't think that's >> Yeah, >> I'm just looking. We're just saying that for May for sure. Can't be the >> Can't be the 27th. Is that the date we're looking at? >> Yeah, it would be the 27th or maybe the 20th. >> The 27th is the
fourth Monday. So going with it, Mr. Grabeck's earlier. proposal. That would be May 27th, June 24th, July 22nd, August um 26 unless we move that up to the 19th um to correspond with back to school inservice and any last minute hires. >> What's your open house if I can write it down? I'm very sorry. >> No, that's okay. May 27th June 24th, July 22nd, August 26th, which is a conflict with Central Middle School's open house. So, I would probably recommend the 19th for that. >> Agreed. >> Um, and then September 23rd, I would have a conflict. So it could be the 16th or it could be the 22nd or it could be >> discussed later or the Yes. where Adam thank you for problem solving because I didn't look down enough in the calendar. It
could be the 30th. Um and that would probably make the most sense then it would be October 28th. Um, in November I would recommend the 18th because of Thanksgiving. In December I would recommend the 16th um because winter break is happening. January would be the 27th. February would be the 24th. March um I would recommend um the 17th would be my first choice. Um, and if that's a big problem for people, probably the another day of your choice that's not the week of the 29th, the 22nd through the 29th. And then in April, which would be the border reorganization, that would be April 28th. >> And as long as people are sworn, then we're >> correct. Much like we do, right, like you did this evening. >> But you said Aaron, you can't come on
the 27th. Well, when I originally looked at it, it was um Are you the >> Yes. It's the the nights that we did that I had a conflict with. >> I think the 27th would actually vertically work. So, Just to include everybody. Doug, do you see a problem with Wednesdays? >> Okay. Well, >> just to make sure everyone got a voice here. So, that had a voice. >> So, should I second? We ready to check already? We're going to move to a rule date um the 30th. Did we do it in August? >> We did. That was the gonna be. >> Okay. So, can you repeat them just so I make sure? >> Absolutely. And please feel free to correct me if you see something different. Yes, Amy. Whatever is approved, Amy will get an
update out to everyone. Um, May 27th, June 24th, July 22nd, August would be the 19th. So there are no conflicts with back to school. September would be the 30th. October would be the 28th. November would be the 18th to avoid Thanksgiving. December would be the 16th to avoid winter break. January would be the 27th. February would be the 24th. March I'm looking at the 17th to avoid spring break. And April would be the 28th. >> Budget hearing and annual meeting would also be October 28th. >> Correct. >> This year >> October 28th. >> Yep. >> But we don't actually approve things till December. That's just the budget meeting. >> That's when public, >> right? That's the public meeting. But like the levy gets approved after that. Yes. >> Um at the same >> at the
same night. the same >> at the regular meeting >> because it has to be dispersed in November. What did we do? We did something later this year because we didn't have numbers state. >> I mean, we held our meeting late so that we'd have everything back so that we could >> the budget for >> the public and the budget that you passed were essentially the same because we had final data versus holding a meeting earlier where we don't have final data and then the board approving potentially a different budget because we do have final data. So, we don't have that problem. Other districts have that problem that have early annual meetings. >> Okay. If there's no other questions, you heard all the dates. We're going to do a >> before you before you do that.
I just looked um my last class is on September 30th. So either we need a different date or Adam will be running that. >> The 22nd was the other option, right? >> Correct. Correct. >> No, the 16th. Excuse me. >> Um no. What? Um, no. >> The earlier that it is in the month, the more difficult it tends to be, but >> um because we need stuff to tear up early, go through everything and then get it to you early. So, I mean, it's not ideal. I would prefer the 30th, but whatever you want to do, we'll make it work. >> I don't love that either. Could we >> I think we should do the 16th and just I mean it's one >> it's it's fine. >> Sorry. >> We'll figure it out. It's fine
with that. >> Yeah, it is a longer month. >> Okay. September 16th then would be the September date. >> July 22nd might Uh, I don't have my play booked yet. I might not the 22nd where you're leaving on Wednesday or Thursday, >> but someone else meeting that day. Okay. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> July 22nd. >> Yes. >> I guess the question is I don't remember what's on the agenda July, but because it makes us I don't want it to be a heavy agenda meeting where there's a lot to vote on visually for some that's my only stuff right I don't remember when July normally takes so good news is is hand um handbooks will be in June um in July last year um we had crisis crisis plan, a couple contracts. >> Um, we
did the athletics budget because it wasn't kind of new. So, I we'll just do that as part of our regular budget. So, I don't perceive that to be an item. >> Move it up a week. >> And there's several items. >> Yeah. I don't >> Do we move it up a week? I >> don't think it's that big of a deal. >> Yeah. As long as you >> Yeah. >> contract. So, >> I don't know. It feels like a heavy month though, too. Like, do we just move it up a week? >> If if we move it up, it's during our administrative retreats. >> So, that would be challenging. >> Or move it to Tuesday because you said 23rd or 24th. Just move it to the 21st. >> I don't like moving too many, >>
but whatever. >> Are we keeping any Mondays? Mhm. >> There are no ex listed right now. They're all Wednesdays. >> You seconded from my Wednesday comment. My fourth Wednesday of the month. >> Yeah. I I don't I'm sorry. Maybe I'm mis misunderstanding. >> I just want to know if there were any Mondays still >> not yet >> being considered. All the dates we've put on, even when moving, have all been on the Wednesdays, moving up or down a week. >> Um, what if we pushed the 22nd back to July 29th? >> That's a long month. Yeah, >> that problematic. >> Why are we moving the 22nd? Because I don't know that I'll be here. I think it's likely that I won't. And that way if there are contracts and things you could have a full
board to participate. >> It could be um it could be motion uh moved now or um if we get to next month and you booked your flight and it's for a different day then it doesn't have to be a tradition. >> Okay, let's do that. >> TB DVD. >> Okay, that's fair. That's fair. So currently twice is it tenative? Yeah, >> it's official until we >> So the dates right now that we're voting on are May 27th, June 24th, July 22nd, August 19th, September 16th, October 28th for the annual meeting and budget, November 18th, December 16th, January 27th, February 24th, March 17th, and April 28th. We have a motion. We have a second. If there is no further conversation, >> I >> Any opposed? >> Don, are you are you an I or a nay?
>> Still writing down the dates. >> Okay. I'm sorry. >> They are all Wednesdays. I have nothing on Wednesdays. >> Now you do. >> Yes. >> Fills in the calendar. Nice. >> It's your eye. I >> I >> Okay. Any nays? Motion carries. Uh the next item is citizens delegation to be heard. Were there any people? There are none. Moving on to the district administrator supports. I'm going to pass it over to Dr. Vilobos. >> Perfect. Thank you so much, Miss Wolf. Um very first thing is that we have some board development opportunities coming up. The first is an online series from WB. So if you would like to know more about your role and responsibility, those are starting at the end of this month which is this week. Terrifying to say. Um so they
are free if you're interested. I know that this is a veteran board. Everyone has been on the board previously. So it may not be uh of high interest to you, but it is available. And then next week. Monday, we do have our board workshop. That is the one that was rescheduled from January. It is um specific for your board workshop, but it is open to the public. It's a public meeting, so anyone can come and listen. Um I have invited our board uh candidate nominees or candidates that ran for uh the position. That way they can hear more about what it is to be a board member. Um and that will start at 5:30 on May 4th. that's here in this room next week, Monday. So, one week from today. >> Um, the next thing
is Neiola policy updates. I've talked about it at the last couple of meetings. I mentioned it during our pre-board meetings today. I will be sending an email out to all of you that gives you access to the spreadsheet. You already have that access. So, if you are invitation for my auto send, feel free to go ahead and get it now. Um, but it is all the policies that will be discussed at the main board meeting. Um there is one new policy. There are several revisions that will go into the consent agenda and then there are administrative guidelines as well as technical corrections that will just be an update. They will not be acted on by the school board. Uh and then the last thing that I want to share is legislative updates. Um I was
waiting for this uh but it did not come prior to us getting out the board packet. So Miss Hoffman will put it in for you for next month. Uh, it's called Setting the Record Straight. If any of you are interested in this, I did bring two copies, but now I wrote the new calendar on one of the copies, so that one's off limits. Um, I can take a picture of it. It's fine. If two of you are interested, um, you should have gotten this as well. It's from WSV. It's setting the record straight and it's from Deep Pettit. Uh it is in response to one of the articles that was written earlier this month about property taxes being high and how our school districts actually spending your money. Um there was some some information in
that article that was not factual. And so this is an opportunity to set the record straight, hence the title. So if you are interested in this, I have two paper copies that you can take with you today and then it will also be in your email and we will also attach it to the next board agenda next month. The other thing that I wanted to share is that I just got back from uh my annual convention at the state and we talked a lot about different things uh dealing with the legislature. So I'm going to try and speed through this but give you the crucial information that we discussed. Um there was a lot of vetoed legislation. Uh the first one was the elimination of the 400year veto that was vetoed. Um, alternative methods of
transportation was vetoed, federal tax credit program participation vetoed, the teacher bill of rights was vetoed, um, additional referenda restrictions vetoed, and the bell-to-bell cell ban was vetoed. Um, out of all of those, some of them sound like good ideas until you start thinking through them and all the different logistical pieces and then things become complicated. Um the Belltobell's uh cell phone ban though that was a good one to veto um simply because Act 42 was just signed into law when AB948 was proposed and so we've already as an administrative team been making updates to our policy for the the new bill act 42. Um so this would have just complicated things. So that was a a good use of veto power. Um, while it did not impact us this time around, uh, uh, the referendums
did have about a 56% passage rate across the state, that sounds low until you look at our historical information, and that's actually right on average. Um, so the best time um to to go to referendum, it has been the fall presidential elections. That's when we went. It was very successful. The referendum approval, passage rates were very high then. Um but this is historically on par um for where we've been uh right now with the surplus negotiations that are ongoing. Uh one of the good things for us, not necessarily good for other entities, but for education specifically, the only item that's being considered right now in the surplus negotiation is special education funding. That is huge. So I'm hoping to uh give you good news at some time in the near future, but uh the increase
to special education funding that we're looking at the 42 or 45%. The one thing that I've talked about previously is will it be some sufficient or some certain. Some certain means you know exactly how much money you're getting. They're putting not this exact amount but $10,000 into it. So you know there's $10,000 that will be dispersed to districts. Um that's some certain sum sufficient is well it's not a specific amount. It's whatever the amount ends up needing to be that is what they will put into that pot of money. So, um, some certain is where it is right now. That's good for the state because they know how much they're committing. It's not good for us because if we spend more, we're not getting that amount. Um, so I don't know that there's going to
be any wiggle room there, but they are looking at increase in that special education reimbursement. So, that's good for us. >> How could you anticipate to know what they >> I was I would love to tell you by the end of the month, but that is Thursday. So, I don't know if I'll be able to give you an update that soon. Um in yeah >> I think we have to be aware of there will be the governor's race this >> and some of this stuff could very well change. >> It could also in September >> it could. Yep. And then I'll give a new update then. >> Um the oddnumber districts are running at this time and so this is the first time that the oddnumber districts are running since the new maps have been
instated. So that election will be coming up. Uh school funding um is certainly going to be a big talking point for people. Um one of the things I wanted to make sure that the public knows is that the claim has been that schools are being fully funded at record levels. It's not not factual. Um however, providing $1 to more is a record high. Right? So, um, one of the things is that record funding ignores inflation and rising costs. Um, per pupil funding is higher than it was in 2000. That's the comparison that I keep hearing is we're doing more than we did in 2000. Um, however, what I would say is that education costs have outpaced inflation and there's many major drivers um, in that argument. So, special education cla claims have increased by over
a billion dollars. Some of those are due to mandates. Some of those are underfunded. Health insurance and transportation uh costs have gone up. Property and cyber security insurance were cyber security insurance was not even a thought on anyone's radar back in 2000. Um technology and school safety needs have risen since 2000. We know that um there have been more school shootings that have resulted in us doing more that were not part of funding in 2000. and then increase in the number of economically disadvantaged students. Um the big point is that a lot of these things that we're paying for are obligations. They're not just federal funding. So that's a big point that I wanted to make sure we talk about. Um in terms of the 400year veto, since I talked about that previously, the veto
did preserve the $325 per pupil amount um that revenue limit authority, but what it didn't do was it did not increase state general aid alongside it. So historically when re revenue limits are increased the state offset property taxes with more general aid. That didn't happen. Um and property taxes are shouldering the state's share. So again that's a legislative decision not um from the veto itself. And then um another comment I want to talk about was declining enrollment. Um one of the claims out there is that de declining enrollment should mean less costs for districts. But there's a lot of fix fixed costs um that don't go away when you have declining enrollment. Some of that would be your buildings, the transportation, um staffing minimums and things like that. As you know, we've we've been working
to rightsize the district. Um but if you have a a few students missing in each grade level, that doesn't equate necessarily to a teacher or something like that. Um because you're not missing entire clusters of students in the same grade. Uh and then we also know like I talked about earlier that our our special education needs have gone up quite a bit and that's not just here, that's across the state. Um, in terms of tax burden, um, one of the things that I wanted to share was that Wisconsin's tax burden is the fourth lowest um, in the Midwest. Uh, we are lower than all the states we touch with the except exception of Michigan. So, um, a lot of information that we talked about last night and a lot of good information from D. I
know that during the pre-board meetings um at least one of you had talked about constituents reaching out to you about the budget and our spending and so um this is a great resource. So if people are reaching out to you have responses that you know have already been fact checked and our reliable information um if you're uncomfortable talking to anyone certainly please feel free to refer them to Mr. Majaras or myself as well because this is something that we deal with on a regular basis. Uh, in terms of district updates, uh, staff appreciation week is coming up and so, um, I'm very excited about that. Miss Hoffman sent out the invitation and information for next week today. So, we will be serving breakfast uh, next week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday is our Rossman team,
Wednesday is our Central team, and Thursday is our Lincoln team. So, school board members, some of you have already told me that you're able to help on this day or that day. Um, if you are interested, please let me know. We'd love to have you there, but if you are there, I need to know in advance so that we can post it. Um, I want to make sure that we are properly noticed. Uh, in addition to the breakfast that we're serving the the teachers and staff, um, we also have our Tuesday event. Um, Tuesday happens to be Cinco de Mayo. So, we are having a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Um, so it'll be at the park. We'll have yard games and we'll have some light appetizers for people. So, we're excited. Um, let's hope for
good weather. Please, no more rain. U, if there is rain, not only should you bring a chair, but you should also bring an umbrella and some gashes. >> Mr. Pridemore has a question. >> Yes. >> When do those breakfast start? >> They um the breakfast should be ready to go at 7:20. And so, if you are able to come and help us out before 7:20 or arriving at 7:20 and then helping us until about 8:00ish. That would be outstanding. >> I probably do all of them. >> Excellent. Thank you very much. >> My early riser. >> Then I I'm going to hopefully steal some of your early ris. >> Sunshine. Yep. Uh next thing I see our art teachers in the back of the room. They've been patiently waiting. They've also been supporting their colleagues.
Um, our district art show is going on right now and so thank you very much art teachers for being here that uh tonight. Uh, last week was actually um the our arts appreciation month and so our teachers have done a fantastic job. Right now we have our our visual arts here um represented, but earlier tonight we had Juliana representing the performing arts. And so really excited for the district art show. All of your ballots have been distributed to you. So if you can please at some time before Wednesday, which is the art show reception, um if you can please go and make sure that you check out all the artwork. It's up right now. and then leave your note um on the specific piece of artwork that you've selected. I also asked that you take
a quick photo and send it to myself or to Amy so that way we know who has voted uh and who has not so I know who I need to call um and help make sure that they they do get the library for that. So >> I never miss an election. >> Go ahead. >> I never miss an election. >> Well, good. This is not one you want to miss. Make sure you go and cast your vote for whatever you think is the best piece of artwork and whatever >> by tomorrow. >> Yes. By tomorrow, >> Mr. Carol and I were there today. The when you walk in the main doors, there's a room to the left, there's a bunch of artwork there. And then when you go through the main kind of turn style
slash whatever that >> security system is, there's another set of racks right in front of that. So, you just have to focus on the room to the left and that area right in front of you. You'll see the racks and you don't have to wander the rest of the library unless you'd like to. >> But you can wander the library >> unless you like to. >> Lots of great pieces. Good job. >> So, I'm very excited for that. And again, if you are interested in the reception, please let me know. That's another you will need to notice if more than three of you are there or three or more of you are there. And then uh the last two years we've had our month multicultural fair over at Lincoln School. This year it will be
held at Rossman School and that will be on May 14th which is a Thursday from 5:30 to 700 p.m. It's going to be a fantastic night. So we would invite you to come to that. But again once again please let myself or Amy know or both of us. And then the last thing I want to share is the staff survey for uh student coursework. This is our school psychologist at Lincoln School. She is working on a class right now. Um, part of that class has her doing some research. Uh, this is not for students and it is not a third party. So, it does not fall under either of those policies. Um, rather it's for her class. The information that she gets will be gleaned from our teaching staff and a survey she gives them.
It's about the multi-tered systems of support and that's actually something that we're reflecting on as a school district right now. So, in addition to helping her with her coursework, it will also end up being fruitful for us as a district. So, we're excited for that. >> That concludes all of my reports. >> Thank you. Any other questions? Uh, moving on to some discussion. Then, we have an administrative report from food service, but Mr. Madera is going to give us a brief update on that. >> Miss Flitter is out on leave. Uh, she'll be returning hopefully in a couple weeks. Uh at this time of the year, we are just trying to get to the finish line. Um staff is doing a great job making adjustments as needed. Um you know, we're not long staffed necessarily
in food service department. So when we have absences, we have to call subs and or pitch in. Thanks to Dr. Voy and Mrs. Aoff, uh particularly at uh Rossman School as we've had some absences we had to deal with there. But again, just trying to use food down, try to get our inventories down as far as we can before the end of the school year. Um, Miss Flitter um is continued to work on um kind of ordering for next year and the things that we need to do. There's uh paperwork that needs to be done for commodities and ordering of those. Um and then uh we have uh the food service contracts that you're going to have in the agenda later tonight as it relates to St. Killians and Happy >> is not St. Kelly.
I thought they did their own >> East Lutheran does their own St. Killian. >> Yeah, it's in the I'm sorry. I was like it's not at home. Yeah. Okay. Perfect. Any questions for our next item of discussion is our library media plan. Adam, the back >> the this plan was approved in 2024 and includes updates such as enhanced library collections, targeted collaboration with ELA staff, ongoing maintenance of digital resources, and expanded programming for professional development for staff. All right, I am just going to quick summary of the library media plan as we said. So looking at it, I'm not going to go through every goal, every goal, but I'm going to give the highlights. So this year we helped tech move from bug to badger, the class link, which was a great addition for technology
wise and the kids learning how to use that. We also improved student use of Badger Link resources that are provided to us by the TPI. So really got the kids on online encyclopedias and databases. I talk to good sources. We um supported more digital literacy. We purchased digital citizenship which was an add-on to typ casting. So it also teaches good and habits on computers. Um in the fall we also had the nally acclaimed authors of riddles and Steve Champion. And then for the younger elementary they had Michelle Sh who was a children's book author visit our our schools. And then our big thing is read across America week had a great success at community reader day. Um we've also had buddy reading mass reader events which bel and also we had um throughout the year
um reading incentives. We have little bingo boards the kids will take home, encourage the reading at home prizes throughout the year for that. Um, looking forward to next year, we're hoping that the library collections once ELA curriculums are updated. That's going to be a big focus for us curating the collections instead, they are catered to that ELA collection. Um, we want to continue the use of the digital resources like Sora ebooks. So, the kids are very able to use that and then continue use our spaces, our libraries as flexible library environments so that we have our library routines, procedures, but then we also are increasing the students and staff use of it. So making sure it's it all happens when I am there and when I'm not there as well that that space is utilized
and then continuing to teach and support digital responsibility with our kids, making sure that they're improving their engagement in things on the computers and throughout So that's kind of the gist of what the plan has changed throughout the this year and last year. So >> do we have any questions? >> Um I'm all for digital, but I just want to make sure like that the hands-on experience when they come into the library, you're still being able to look through the library books and choose the books that maybe interest them based on the cover, whatever. I know it's important you know, have the digital, but I just I don't want it I feel like the library is the one place I don't want digital to happen. Like I really want them to touch in buildings and
read an actual book and not just have the e read to them or >> I 100% 100%. >> So I just want it to be a good balance because I'm >> So we do have like lots of different I don't want to say rules procedures in place that we make sure that that does happen. So, I'm always the best tour guide. So, even for our youngest ones, I will take them through the library to make sure they're seeing everything before they make choices. I don't let them even grab until we go back down and talk about thinking about choosing books. We also do lots of displays. Um, we have a decel of the week where we'll take a certain number and display those books. The new books get displayed. So, we really really try to
promote that. the kids that um are most often on the computer when we talk about that is our three to five where we get them just to understand the digital catalog and how that will help them find books in the web. So we do off we do have the digital books because we are part of the Scott digital consortium. So I make sure that we're using our money smart so that kids all know how to use that in a year do one or two lessons in library that resource so the kids are familiar and access the want but a majority of the library time is books in the library. So for sure >> can I ask a question but one of the pages had like the statistics about each library and then one of the
rows was average age of collection is that the year the book was published the year we bought that book. So it's the year it's published. >> Okay. >> And it takes an average of our very oldest book to the book that showed up last week. >> It does a pure average of them. So it includes our 1950s Dr. books to like I said the book that came in last week takes a raw average of all books. >> Okay. >> So in that in my three years here that has been one of the most challenging numbers to move. >> Yeah. >> It's really hard. It takes a lot to move a year. >> I do a half again. So we do bring it up a year. So it is the >> but you get a new
Dr. Seuss book because it was published like >> so I tend to look for when the reprints happen. >> Okay. So I can get a reprint of the book and then I put up >> and one of the things that Miss Hamlin and I had talked about was in the bottom row of the table uh where it talks about progress. Uh these are goals that are again part of our three-year library plan. But at Rossman I believe it was she has already worked with her team to meet the goal. So that's exciting because we don't actually need to meet the goal until next year and she's already come back. >> Yeah. To those on the bottom of that are just like the the dreams that we hope we achieve. Like you said, it's really hard
to get that year to change a year. >> I look forward to more furniture in the elementary that you know fun furniture. >> Yeah, we just added puppet theaters. So we've learned though that there's puppet skills to be bought. So what they have been loving >> mask puppeting next year. >> Absolutely. On the one, excuse me, on the one it says proposed uh let's see goal use of space and time it says proposed updates proposed update to library programming and schedules to provide time for collaboration. Is that uh updates as far as like do we need updating of the library itself or is that something digitally or schedule updating? >> So what we are hoping next year would be that every class has a dedicated library time. That will happen at Yellow Elementary and in
the middle school and that when I'm available that I co-e or support staff also in doing more library skills. So more of those applied once we learn the ELA curriculum that we're collaborating more often and getting the kids into their research or their projects or doing more of that so that the library happens not just when I'm in the building but all the time. >> Okay. >> So try to use like really utilize making sure it's there and you just >> sure. >> So, and that's currently a struggle with that that not like you're not not that we're not doing it, but it's just more of a struggle than it is than you want it to be. >> I would love it to be, you know, like I'd love for you to walk into library
and always see kids there, right? Always see that like that would be the desired state, right? Is that always have kids in there doing things or teachers in there using states? >> Yeah. Right. So, >> do you see that? What do what do you see that like any barriers in providing that 30 minute >> the 30 minute? No, I think we got that all figured out that every everybody's there like at the middle school it works smoothly. >> The one day I am there a week pretty classes there which is fun to see. I'm able to build that with them. So unless you know multiply me a couple times that would be the easier but >> we make it work. >> Okay, good. Thank you. >> A lot of good work here. >> Thank you.
>> That brings us to our district business. So action item number one, sixth grade outdoor education camp contract for 2026. Sixth grade students attend camp annually as part of their science, math, and outdoor education learning. There is a range of activities during the three days such as fishing, photography, or orientering, learning about swamps and survival skills and other things. Students have the option to stay for an extended day for an additional cost of $10. Is there a motion? >> Motion to approve the 2026 sixth grade outdoor education camp contract with YMCA campi. >> You got it. >> Okay, >> I'll second. Any conversation or questions? >> Just have a comment. They would learn the same things in scouts >> if they joined. The nice thing is that not all kids or families have the ability
or or the knowledge to join scouts or the people to drive mag. At least we're giving every sixth grader this opportunity to learn some of those tools that >> there's a troop at a beamer. There's one at the rec center. And uh there's a third one I had St. Killians. >> I one of the things I would add is my own child is a boy scout and I agree with you. we just got back from a camping trip and it was a great they did their own orientering this weekend. Um, one of the really nice things about doing it through school is that they are developing relationships with other students and with their teachers and staff, which is so powerful when you enter middle school. So that way it's one more step in acclamation to
the middle school level and an opportunity for people to get to know each other, learn how people tick, what helps motivate people, how, you know, what support students need and how other students and staff can support those students. Um, it's very very nice to see. I know I've gone every year that I've been here, not the whole time, um, but I go for a little bit and and it's been wonderful to see different staff members uh, step up. Even some of our support staff uh, they have their special little niche uh, that they fulfill at camp and they're very proud of those roles that they play. So, it's a really nice way for, like I said, us to help bring our sixth graders in and establish expectations, um, but also have fun and a great
way for our students and our staff to step up. So, >> couple comments. I agree with you, Don. Scouts, hands down, as an as an Eagle Scout myself, you learn this all year long. All year long, plus more. I've been on this camp. It's a good experience for them. I 50/50 on the overnight. I know what took it away. Extended day. Yes, that's great. Um third, I wish they would take volunteers like they did before, but now it's all staff staffed by joint one staffs or middle school staff. I don't know the terminology there, but they didn't take any volunteers last year. But I'd be willing to volunteer for it. Any >> that's on the record. >> Yeah. And explain the >> take girls now too. >> Correct. >> Explain the one day extension. >>
So last year was the first year of doing it. Um we did we switched from the overnight to the one day extensive because they were charging us a substantial amount of money. We felt that would be a barrier for a lot of kids to be able to attend. That's not what we want to do. We want to make sure every student gets opportunities and much of it as they can. So the extended day is only an extra $10 which is really awesome. Trying to get more people involved in that. Um and so they stay that extend the day. They do a little bit of they do one more activity and then um they do a campfire that sort of thing and then they head back on the bus. >> They have dinner too there. Yeah.
>> They have dinner and a campfire and camps. They get everything from the overnight except the physical sleeping overnight which >> never always went great anyway. So honestly when we had this opportunity >> even though I know some kids like overnight I think overall it is a great it gives them everything. They're not missing anything besides sleeping >> we are taking on the extended day versus >> so what are they how many nights are they overnight? It was only one night or like an extra 80 bucks. >> They go they go Wednesday >> school day. >> They go Thursday, >> stay later on Thursday. If they want the extended, they stay till 7 or 8 and they're home on a bus then at Central and then Friday they go for the the eight just the
hour school hours school. >> Oh, okay. >> It used to be that there was one overnight on Thursday night instead. We are >> but again >> in the minority of those who don't stay overnight like most of the schools that go there they stay overnight that I research myself but I understand why we don't believe me it's really brutal >> I will tell you my own child did not stay overnight >> districts >> brutal the overnight stay in 2022 by itself that one night cost $62 >> per person >> okay >> and we didn't even have half the people doing that either So, it's not like all the students are doing that. There's only a select bunch of them that are doing that. >> Good questions. We have a motion and a second. Are there
additional questions or can we move for a local vote? >> Call please. >> Uh Louise, >> I. >> Aaron, >> I. >> Don, >> Ian, >> I. >> And I'll vote I. >> Motion carries. Item number two is the aiology services contract for the 2627 school year. The district contracts for audiology services for students who require aiology services within their IEP or individualized educational plan or section 504 plan as these services are low incidents in the district. It's not cost effective for the district to directly hire an aiologist. This is the same company we've been working with. Is there a motion? Motion to approve the 2026 27 aiology services contract with Gateway AI aology. >> Yes, aology. >> I'll second. Any questions? Seeing none, can we have a roll call vote? >> Aaron >> Ian
>> I. >> Don >> I. >> Louise >> I. >> And I'll vote I. >> Motion carries. Item number three, certified staff merit compensation for the 2627 school year. The offer exchange included a 0% base wage increase. The recommendation is a 2.63 merit increase for the 2627 school year for returning professional staff meeting the set specific requirements and a starting educator wage of $46,000. Is there a motion? >> My motion to approve the certified staff merit compensation for the 202627 school year. Second. >> Any question discussion? >> Seeing none. Barb, could you do another roll call? >> Don, >> Ian, >> hi. >> Louise, >> I. >> Aaron, >> I. >> And I'll vote. I >> motion carries. Item number four, support staff compensation for the 2627 school year. The recommendation is a 2.63 increase
for the 2627 school year for returning support staff. Is there a motion? Motion to approve the support staff compensation for the 202627 school year. >> Second. >> Any questions? >> Barb, could you do another roll call? >> Louise >> I. >> Aaron >> Ian >> I. >> Don >> I. >> And I'll vote I. >> Motion carries. Item number five is our consent agenda. The consent agenda includes approval of minutes, bills, treasures report, and personnel recommendations. Is there a request to pull an item from the consent agenda? >> I'd like to pull up a social studies one. >> Okay. I would need a motion and then a second. >> I make a motion to pull the social studies >> contract. Yes. >> I'm sorry. This is someone else to talk about it or just pull
it from >> this it can be pulled and acted on by itself. >> So >> I would allow us to I second it then. >> Okay. Thank you. I still need a roll call vote to pull it. >> Yes. You have a a motion in a second. We need a roll call vote. >> Don. >> No. >> Ian. I >> Louise >> I >> Aaron >> no >> I'll vote I >> motion carries so we're going to discuss that let's do that first and then we'll approve the rest of the consent agenda or let's can I have a motion to approve the consent agenda and we'll move that topic to afterward >> I have a motion to approve the consent agenda >> second roll call vote please >> Aaron >> I g >> Ian I
>> Louise >> I and I'll vote I >> motion carries. Now we're going to add in this item of discussing the social studies middle school collection contract with Hton Mlin. Um we did vote on this last month. Dr. do you want to provide a little more? >> Absolutely. So this is already approved. Whatever you do tonight, it's already approved and will be happening next year. However, Miss Malter the day after the board meeting called them and said, "Hey, it was approved, but I'd like it at a better rate." and they gave it to her at a better rate. So we will be saving if you vote yes to this we will be saving about an additional 7500 $7,644 >> about 7500. >> Why did you want to >> I wanted to just point it out
because I wanted to make sure um so this is the one we vetted. This is the one I saw right at the >> the civic is an additional component. >> Yes. Okay. And um I mean I'm in favor of doing it. I just wanted to pull it up to make sure that um that people saw that there was a cost savings but also that it was fully vetted by most of the staff. And this is a circle of then what's the contract after three years like? So after three years, can we say we're not happy with it or would it be a continuing program no matter what? >> Yes, it aligns perfectly with where we are in our curriculum cycle. >> Yes, I think that's what I really like. I'm actually glad I got pulled
out because I do want to give kudos to you guys and to you especially mentor who are going back and asking for savings. I think it's good for the public to know that the district is really doing all we can to save money wherever we can. And the fact you got us an additional 7,500 for signing three years which does match up with our curriculum cycle anyways and we don't have to pay it all in the lump sum. We still have to pay it year by year. It is like a no. So I would say it goes to you and we do it after we approve it. So >> So when you say you saw it, what do you mean I saw it >> at the um the community fair? I was the community fair
was it was a booth and I got to kind of go through it. >> Um >> it was at the community fair. I just didn't get >> it was right away when you walked in and allowed Jim on the left hand side. It was Stacy White and >> I had limited time, but okay. I know. >> It was I got I got kicked out Lori because I was already over but I had just gotten there and then she was already saying it's done. Thanks for being here. Like we want to see this. Um so yes, but I I was intrigued by everything that was shown. But I did hear from the teachers that were there that some of them did have some still concerns because they didn't get to fully vet it because it was
a very short time. They only had vetted for a month. So my concern was I hope it gives what they need. But I also appreciate that we do the right thing as a district that if there's a piece missing, most of I feel like you guys and staff is like, "Hey, wait, like I'm missing this component that I think is really important for the kids to have and then we try to end to it or whatever we can to make it part of that package or at least we know for the next thing we look at that we make sure that that component is back in." So again, it was more pulling it out to just say kudos like >> always know and we're we always want to ask being fiscally responsible is so important
to us and so you know we're loyal customers and you know it's always worth asking for asking twice. >> So I now need to ask for a motion to approve the social studies contract as was in the packet because we didn't vote on that yet. We pulled it out of consent. So now I need a motion to approve the social studies contract with Mlin hardcore for the 26 through 29 school years. >> A motion to approve the social studies and middle school collection of outton parkour 2026 through 29. >> Thank you. I second. I'll have a roll call vote, please. >> Don, >> hi. >> Aaron, >> I Louise, >> Ian, >> I. >> And I'll vote I. >> Motion carries. Item number 10 is our board meeting reflection and feedback. So there was feedback
from the last meeting included in your packet. Please fill yours out tonight. Then item number 11 is adjournment. So I'll look for a motion to adjurnn. >> Motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Uh all in favor? >> I. >> Any oppose? Motion carries. Get.
