here. >> Uh verification of agenda posted in the website and TRG pledge of allegiance. >> Call our meeting order. >> Roll call. Kurt Drisiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Next we'll move public forum. Uh opportunity for anybody in the public that wants to speak. Step up to the mic. All right. Discussion and possible action. Consolidation plan. All right. There's not going to be a a core update or task force update from my HSR tonight uh because of the storm. We had to cancel the task force meeting on Monday. Uh that is going that was rescheduled for next Monday. So the task force will meet next Monday and the following

Monday, two Mondays in a row. Um and then April 1st will be the next joint board meeting where my HSR will be on site uh for an update. So next Monday, March 23rd, 6:30 at Loyal will be the task force and then the following week, March 30th, 6:30 will be or is it 7? 7:00 my fault. 7 your schedule uh 30th will be in Greenwood at 700 p.m. Task Force and Committee Brandy So, we have uh two of the branding committee um members here tonight and they will come on up and just present to the joint board um their recommendation. Hello, I'm Travis Henderson as part of the running committee. Um, on behalf of the branding committee, we wanted to share the results of the vote of a new name and mascot for the consolidation

plan that will be voted on in November. Our committee decided to ask the community to submit ideas for the name and mascot. We then narrowed it down to three school names and four mascots to choose from. Voting concluded last week and we met as a community last night to tally the votes and to talk about next steps, including choosing colors. We had 604 people vote and only counted one vote per email as we had explained when we rolled out the option in the DRG online and when students got the link emailed to them and paper copies of ballots at home. >> We appreciate everyone who took time to vote and it was a very tight race. We ended up with 50.5% of the votes for Royal Greenwood, 35% Clark Central, and 14.5% H Heartland Central.

On the mascot side, Bugs got most of the votes at 29.8. Phoenix was second at 28.3. Lightning was 26.8% and Patriots had se I'm sorry, 14.7 votes of the votes. Based on those numbers, our recommendation to the board would be used to would be to use Loyal Greenwood Bucks as the name and mascot for our consolidation plan. If you are interested in total numbers, we have those available and we'd like to thank everyone for the opportunity to participate in the selection process. Um so um I guess the committee then is coming forward to the joint board and asking um for Thank you. Thank you. Um for us to um approve Thank you. to approve the name for LG or Loyal Greenwood bus. Um we did uh discuss colors um as the committee last night. The

committee does have a recommendation for colors. However, it was kind of unclear to Eliza and I as to whether or not we wanted to move forward with colors. Um we went back and watched previous meetings and we like talked about it and it was kind of like do we want colors? Do we need colors? Maybe not now. But there was no really definitive yes or no. Should the committee decide on colors? So at this time, I guess not only are we looking for an approval, but we're wondering does the board want to take the recommendation of colors that the committee has or do we want to move forward with some other process in determining colors? And if so, what that I don't know if you have anything else to add. One thing that I was

thinking about today as we were kind of going over this is when we did set up these committees, like the whole goal of the this ad hoc committee was to do name, mascot, colors, mission, and vision. Like th that was what we were told was our task. And last night at the meeting, we asked the committee like, "Do you feel comfortable doing this now?" We decided as a committee earlier in the process that colors wasn't going to be something that we asked for complete community votes on because we I mean it's a huge process to tally votes and all of the things and we thought that the committee could could handle that and tackle that decision. So, I mean, it's whatever you guys think, but I just wanted to bring that up like when we

started the committees, like colors was part of what you told us to do. Agreed. Right. I mean, it' be kind of late. I'll be like, "Okay, we got the name, we got the bucks, but now we're going to go colors on our own." I think if you had the committee do it, they got to finish it, right? I mean, they still got to come back for our approval anyways, right? We can discuss it at that point, but we've gone this far doing it this way. I think we should do it the whole way. I think that's the only fair way of doing it. Well, not fair. It's just you guys have done a good job already. It's It's gone fine. I think we just hold the rest of it. >> So, I I I agree

because we were kind of talking about following it through. Um, but there was a concern raised about trademark issues with some of our options, like what's the process to make sure that this is okay for us to be using? >> We don't turn on Chris if it goes bad. I think but one thing that the committee did talk about last night was having like some whether it's from Myin or I don't know like some sort of graphic design company come up with logos so that we would like just because we picked the Bucks doesn't automatically mean that it's the Milwaukee Bucks logo you know like I think we want it to be original and something that like whether again that's what we as a board vote on which logo or if that's something that the

committee tries to work through. I mean, that's up to us cuz that was not part of it when we started. Wasn't the actual physical logo. Um, but I don't I don't think bucks as an animal is a trademark problem. >> How would that I've seen it like people got the cardinals, but then the Arizona Cardinals like I can you trademark a bird? You know, I I don't know if that works the same way with with the Bucks, you know, you just have to look at Right. >> Yeah. >> Right. Right. If if you if you look at the Elone team, they actually had what looked like what you're talking about. They actually had it in 2015. The Milwaukee Bucks reached out to them and said, "That's our logo." So, they actually went and spent $350

to $400,000 to help them retransition their their thing. So, if you look it up, you can find that on the internet. Brilliant. The Bucks spent money. The Bucks spent money on helping them art. >> I say we copy that logo. Exactly. We are going to need new uniforms, right? Thank you, Giannis. I would hope a graphic artist. If we get a reputable graphic artist, they would be able they would know the trademark copyright laws. >> Is that also going to be left up to the branding committee on global? No, that wasn't Yeah, that wasn't part of what our original thing was. >> I guess my my question for the board tonight is like what do we want to do with colors? Like we want to know if if you want the recommendation that the committee

came up with or if we need to go about it some other way. I I mean >> what is the recommendation the committee come up with? >> Well, hold on. That's the thing that we talked about today is is that really gonna if we announce the colors and three of you love those colors and three of us don't like is that really going to determine if we take the recommendation or not. I think we either need to say we're going to take the recommendation and whatever the committee came up with last night or we're or we're going to move forward in some other way like I don't know whatever that way is but I don't think we can like announce the colors and then raise our hand if we like those colors or not. I

agree. >> I guess my thought on it was we right from the beginning you guys laid out process and part of that process was after the mascot was chosen the committee was going to come together and pick the colors. I see no reason to vary from that at this point. So, >> and that's originally. Yes. And then there were like two meetings. I went back and watched this morning because we were a little bit unclear. And in those two meetings, it was like, "What do we want to do with colors?" And it was a lot of him and hawing, like, "Colors maybe aren't so important yet." Well, maybe they are to some people. Well, we need new uniforms at some point, but not yet. So, that's why it's that's why this conversation's happening. I think

in the beginning it was like, "Yes, mascot name colors. That's what we're doing." And then the more that we talked about it, the more it was like maybe we should hold off on colors. And I'm not really sure why, but that was talked about. So, I don't agree or disagree, Dean, but that's that's why Eliza and I are like coming back to you guys like what do we do? >> I I think the difference on this process this time around with everything has been the community involvement, these task force, the community making the decision, not just the people that sit up here. So, to change and deviate from that right now, we kind of go against what we're kind of doing in this whole process. So, my recommendation would be to allow you guys to

do what what you're doing. that that committee is made up of community members. They've done a phenomenal job. You guys have done a great job. Let's keep going that way. Right? That's that's what this whole process has been about. It'd be hard to go now and say, "No, you took it far enough." You know, that's my thoughts on it. >> I agree. Um we put the committee together and they should give us colors. They show us colors that they recommend. Just just a question if we need to look into the trademark is does that also affect color? I don't know. It probably doesn't, but I mean that will be, you know, whether we announce it now or whether we wait until we've looked into that. Um, no, that was just a thought I had. Initially,

>> do you think it's worthwhile for us to check with legal counsel on trademark prior? >> We can, but the only thing I'm going to say is there's 11 people right now who know what the colors are. >> Right. So, I what I would what I would say >> so it's not going to be kept secret. >> What I what I would say is if you're going to look at a motion, make a motion pending trademark approval. Yes. Right. If there's a motion to approve the the name mascot and colors, make it pending trademark approval. Approval, you should be fine. approve the approve it prior to that. >> I move that we approve or loyal that we approve the name um >> mascot and colors for the comm the committee's recommendation pending trademark. >> Do

I have a second? >> I'll second. All in favor? >> I oppose. >> Oppos. >> Just for clarification, I will need to know is it school district of Loyal Greenwood or Loyal Greenwood School District? >> School district. >> Okay. I'll make a motion to approve the new school name, mascot, and colors as presented by the committee pending legal council approval on the park. >> Motion made second. All >> in favor? Eliza, we'll I have the template. If you want, we can show it and then it's easier to show the colors than like explain them. >> It doesn't show up exactly right on this I found last night, but >> it's an idea. So, on on my computer screen, it looks a little bit different than what you'll see on the on the um screen up

there, but it'll give you an idea. That wasn't it was we did it joy.
