To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Yes. here. >> Yes. >> Crystal. >> Yep. >> All right. We will start out with public comment. Anybody have anything? There's time at the end if you have. All right. discussion of possible actions request for proposal RFP for facility study. So tonight we need to talk a little bit about the RFP process, the timeline, and hopefully develop a committee that will do the interviews for those once those come in. Uh the RFPs have been out for a few weeks. um they are due to us by the end of this month, October 31st. I would say that Mr. between the two of us. Uh we probably talked to
somewhere in the 8 to 12 um different companies that have expressed interest or that we have sent the RFP and two. Um to date we've given tours to three different companies with another one scheduled Friday and next Tuesday I believe. So there's definitely some good interest in in companies looking to do u facility studies for our our request. Um so that's that's the timeline. Any questions on that? So I just want to talk uh real quickly on it is not there are architects from Oaklair, Wasau, Milwaukee, Minneapolis. So they are we have abundance of them across the state and even in in Minnesota. So there's been a good what would you say >> broad representation and and there have been a number of them that have reached out to us. We've sent some out then
they saw it on our website and there's been a number that we have they have requested. So, so yeah, it's been very good and giving good tours. Uh, very thorough with some of those tours. Mhm. All right. Just a little bit of feedback. Um the other part to it is the interviews. So maybe um the other part to it is developing an interview committee to look at these. when they do come in on the 31st, there's a pretty quick turnaround to interview however many the joint board decides they want to interview to select um to or to bring a recommendation back to a joint board in November um for approval to hire the company. So I guess we probably need to have some discussion on what that interview process looks like, committee looks like and
how the joint board wants to move forward with that. Um we in our RFP we said the first week of November would be so I think it was the 3rd and the 7th. So the RFPs are are due on the 31st. The very next week is when we we said in the RFP that we would do an interview for those. Uh it would be up to the joint board on how many uh and when those when those would be open questions. So I guess we need to have some discussion on that. >> Yeah. I think when we um got together as administrators and board presidents, I I do feel that this doesn't need to be full board for interviews. But I do think two members from each board and the administrators would be the ones
to sit in on the interviews, come up with the the questions, review I guess starting at the first point would be to review the applications, select how many of them they want to interview, schedule set interviews and then come up with recommendation that they bring back to us at full board. Um I don't know does the president have authority to appoint these the two members because we can do that tonight. I would assume. So if there's no objections to that, I'd like to appoint two members of the loyal board tonight. I'd like to appoint Matt Vista and Kirk Gaswell to the interview committee. I would assume interviews would be in the evening. Is that >> that may determine who can on those interviews. Does that I guess does that work for the two of three
of you or >> and I don't think you're going to interview 12. I think we go through them or that committee goes through and you can nail it down. So maybe three, four, five. So So it might be a couple nights possibly. Do we want to base the number that we interview on the applications or do we want to pick a number tonight and say we're we're interviewing the top three or we're interviewing the top two or top? I don't really have strong opinion one way or the other, but I don't know that we want it. I think, you know, if there's eight people willing, they're good enough in their presentation for the interview, they shouldn't be be taken off until heard from. So, I wouldn't say I don't think we should handcuff it. >>
Do you want to charge the interview committee also with doing the screening so that they can they're sitting down screen, they can decide together on how many how many they want to interview and how much time they want to invest in those interviews. All right, I will appoint Luke Smith and Sean. You guys want to set a date tonight for the first meeting to review application? >> Does it work to meet at 7:00 for you? Does it work to meet at 7:00 in the evening to review them? >> Yeah. Yeah, I would say that we one of two things. Either we can make copies and you can review them individually and rate them or we can get a night get together and talk about them together. It's you can do those. I guess those are
the two thoughts that come to me. I was >> review first. >> I agree with them and everyone can review and then be on them. >> What are your thoughts on having a rubric on kind of things that we're looking for? >> So yeah, if whatever rubric is is yeah >> I think yeah I I thought about rubric too. I think a rubric might be could be difficult because I'm guessing that you're going to have six different at least four different opinions on what we're looking for within exactly what we're looking for within an RFP. Um there might be some distinct differences on what people are looking for, but I think if we just rank them based on what these individuals are looking for and are in them get together and talk about those strengths
and weaknesses of the proposals. Um I think it'll be a good thing for us when we do get together and see different side of what we're all looking for, right? It gives us different viewpoints on it. Mr. Wy might look at something different than I might But it might be very important, right? That items, you know, something like that. So, yeah, I think that's a good point to go. But when we get together, we'll probably be >> So, this is good. It'll get me on the trick-or-treating um Halloween. So, we will uh get the get the proposals on the 31st and try and put that together cuz it's it's quick turnaround. Like, we're going to have to get those in your hands as soon as we can so that you can spend all weekend um
reviewing those. Uh so that what does does Monday night Monday the 3rd work for everybody to meet? We meet at 7:00 have to. It's the interviews have to be done that week. So to get them in your hands right away. Um, >> yeah, we can have a lot of the the work done ahead of time. So, the the rating scale or whatever, we we have that done ahead of time so it's ready to go. So, when we get the proposals, all we have to do is make the appropriate copies. Most of them will probably give us several copies. So, it's more getting them out to the for us. >> What would you prefer to >> if if we get them digitally? Yes, >> if we get them digitally, but there may be some that don't
submit digitally. So, I think we have to wait and see what we get. People we can some have asked how we want. We've told all of them, you know, both both ways, but so we will we will get them on the 31st and try and get them out to this committee as soon as we can. and we will meet on Monday the 3rd, 7 o'clock. >> Do you have a spot? >> I was going to say because it's not me. >> It is not. It is not. Neither one of us have it for him. >> Okay. in the loyal conference room 7:00. >> Well, there'll be a spot. It could be classroom. So, so we'll meet at Loyal High School 7:00 Monday night the third to review. Anything else with that item or any questions
about process? All right, we'll move on to the ad activity, right? So, in your in your packet, there's a it's just a framework of of a a branding committee meeting uh agenda. Um we look at you know introductions, overview of the committee purpose, structure of the committee, priorities and timeline and then set meetings for that committee. Uh tonight I think there needs to be some discussion uh of the joint board on what that what is the purpose of that setting a clear purpose for that committee. um and and then talk about how you how you want that structured with membership from from up here. So, so on that committee uh so we have seven from Greenwood and seven from Loyal. Uh remember last meeting we did not have we needed to add some and we
had we got it out the next day and within an hour we had more than enough. So uh so from Greenwood uh Dana Phillips, Amber Grill, Mary Dane, Carolyn Malloic, Jen Pkkey, Candy Turnquist, Ron Goddard from Loyal, Mark Nem, Jody Mills, Shannon Tolar, Robin Bender, Dennis Rail, Amanda Stevens, and Travis Centers. I think a big part is the over overview of the committee's purpose. What what what did our boards the two boards want from this committee. There is some things that are that have to be made by this committee. What are your expectations? >> Let's start with the structure. Is there going to be any representation from this table? I think it would be hard to put 14 community members and say here do this without any direction from people at this table. I I
if allowed it to prove better, I would like to appoint minimum one person from >> that was my fault again. just talking to it. Can everyone hear all right like this? >> So much better. >> If if all right, I would like to appoint one person minimum. If there's more on it, that's fine. But for the structure, I think we need one board member from each one. one of each. >> First of all, I'm going to appoint you to the >> I'm going to appoint Eliza. >> Congratulations. Um so I think you know talking about the the purpose of that committee is to look at things like naming of a consolidated district mascot colors things like that somebody else brought up you know even things like school song um in a consolidated district. There's a
lot there's a lot of things most importantly which we'll talk about even a little further down the agenda is a name of a new school district is the number one item that has to be put on the uh consolidation plan. um down the road. So, uh but there's a few things that you know to get some community involvement uh would be would be nice uh for things like that. So, that's the view of the community purpose is simply that to look at how do you take two districts and rebrand them into into one. Um I think we've dealt with the structure of the committee. Um, but again, this would be on the two board members to to lead that discussion. Uh, and I I think there's there's resources out there. There's there's districts that have
gone through similar things. I don't want to come to my loss, went through a, you know, a whole survey process. So, some of those resources are out there for for you to look at and and see how how you can use them instead of reinventing the wheel. So, I guess the first the next thing I would like is is to know a date because we did send out a an email to the to this panel saying that we're talking about it tonight and we be in contact with them soon with a date to to meet start that conversation. So, do you want to set a first meeting date now? do believe we have uh three members of this committee sitting in the audience right now. So >> thank you very much for showing up and
be announced. >> No, but I do have some questions. >> Okay. So just my one question is have you guys >> into the mind. >> So just one of the questions I had is if you guys have developed a vision and missions statement act because I feel that should be set first so us brain company have something to work around. I know Loyal has a visions um vision statement. I could not find it on the Greenwood website. I I couldn't find it anywhere. I plugged it in search. But I feel that should be first thing and then us as a committee need to work around something. And then if my other question is can we have the meeting tags earlier than 7:30? >> Can that can can like the start of that conversation be part
of branding? Can that be part of it should be community taking a look at what what Loyal has, what Greenwood has, and how it how it could mesh together into one. I'm guessing that there there's going to be a lot of similarities if you look at mission statements around the around the state. School districts usually deal with success in learning and well-rounded human beings for everybody. So, uh there's going to be, you know, it'll be something similar to that typically. So I think if uh that would be a good place for that committee is starting to get like these decisions don't have to be made overnight but there are some decisions timelinewise that on our on you know on our radar have to be have to be made so that we are prepared to put
a consolidation plan together that will be on the November 2026 ballot for vote. So, uh, when we when we talk about this, you probably have most of the school year to tackle some of these things. Uh, so slow and steady, but I think steady is the key word, like continuing to move forward with with some of those conversations. But I think that would be a good place for that committee to start engaging the conversation. >> Does that work? >> Especially if we're going to do a community survey, that could take a month easily. Yeah, >> you guys see her out there. 7 o'clock November and November 3rd here by Kevin Brown. Anything else with branding? Good. The other one, uh, just give me an update. Community partner, business relations committee. Um, this is another committee
that the that the joint board talked about forming. Uh we did sit down and meet uh Chris and I and Dean and Tom um met earlier this week just to start some conversation about getting business business partners engaged in some conversation about you know what what do they need from our school districts? But what what are they what are how can we refocus what we're doing and what we're what we're offering our kids to better serve our the businesses that rely on us to to put kids into employment areas. Um so we started some conversations and those conversations quickly went to career clusters uh and looking at the the different career clusters I think there's 16 identified career clusters uh by DPI and under those 16 career clusters I believe there's 17 79 career pathways
uh so we just started having some initial uh conversations about what some of those clusters are and what are some of those career clusters are that are probably most important to central clar county such as agriculture, transportation, um medical things uh like that. So, we started having some conversation about that and we're going to continue having some conversation um about that, but I do think that if we're going to we should probably have people formally appointed to that that committee. Um, so it just recognize that that's that's the direction we're going. >> I'd like to formally appoint Tom I'd like to formally maintain. So I I we'll continue to meet. I think you know we we talked about the career clusters. We talked about engaging um sec postsecary schools in some conversation about how we
can leverage resources that they may have uh to better serve our students. Uh but really the the focus of of that is to figure out how we can how we can better prepare our kids to enter the workforce with with the needs of our local industry in mind. So that's overall that's the focus of that. Any comments or thoughts on that? I was just going to say it moving forward I would see that I see ad hoc committees being an agenda point at every joint meeting and then we'll get reports back from the people who were appointed to those committees to update the full boards. Do you have a plan for like engaging those other um community partners? Like are we asking for volunteers from businesses? Are we reaching out to specific businesses? Is it
kind of combination? >> So right now we have discussed a little bit about that and kind of where where do we end? Is it just oil and Greenwood or do we is it more of a Clark County thing or an hour radius around here? Um so we will get uh part of money economic development involved and um start working on that uh aspect of it and kind of take on our clusters from 16 down to a more manageable uh item of 10 and then kind of go from there and then kind of see what businesses uh relate to those clusters. some a lot of this I I do believe that a lot of this is in place. Um but I think the the boards in this committee are looking to better define if somebody's going
into this career cluster what is the pathway um to attain that at graduation. Um, you know, this is also going to include we're going to be have to bring in our our principles, counselors, uh, because really they're the the boots on the ground doing most of the work when it comes to implementing and and putting getting all this in place. But, uh, there is a I mean, a lot of this a lot of this the framework is there. I know it is in both districts. I think just defining it better for our kids in our community. Um but then also making sure that you know what we think we're off, you know, what we think is best for our kids to prepare them is also what our industries expect us or or need us to
prepare our kids for. Um and I think this is also a good time to plug next Tuesday. Uh both districts are going to have a visitor. Mike Begley. Uh those of you that have been around a while, Mike was a superintendent here about 30 years ago for a couple years where he started a superintendent career. Um and he's a superintendent in Whiteall. uh he went on a a trip courtesy of Ashley Furniture in August uh to China to look at their industry and I think some eyes were open wide about the the global market that we need to start preparing our kids for. Uh not start we're probably behind we are behind. Um, but he's going to talk about some of those, you know, how we maybe re revisit education and and what it means
for our kids and what it's going to mean and preparing our kids for jobs that we don't even know about yet. So, I think there's going to be some eye opening things. Uh, community members are definitely invited to to come to that. It's going to be 12:30 in in Greenwood on Tuesday and 2:00 in in Loyal. So, uh, we're having a lot of conversations about those things. to to your point, Joe, the businesses around here are all looking for the same thing. A lot of us around here are looking for return on investment, right? So, if you ask these companies, what are they looking for? They're they're more apt to invest in the education process as well, right? We're going to need their help, but what are they looking for? They'll tell us, right? And
it gives them a real look at, hey, that employer is looking for X and I can look to make Y, right? But they'll help us do that. I'm just going to pick that overall not yet. Right. We were just trying to get our ducks and go from there. Um in went to Luxembourg. Um I really I thought what their mission was was to get students an area of raw field where they feel good about and are very interested at an early age. When I say started in high school and things like that and get them revved up about it and when they're a senior, they are taking college TAP courses and really preparing and basically getting first year done. their senior year as a tech school having maybe one year left and kind of not
to get a jump start on life but to get a jump start on life where you're not having another year of school where it's costing a lot of money by the time they get out they buy a house get married things have kids and they have a debt of unbelievable so just trying to stay ahead and get them so they are ready for life right off the bat they don't have major debt right off. >> All right, move on to athletic timeline. So, I I did include in the packet the copy of the draft copy of that you had you've seen before, the athletic co-op timeline. Uh since the last meeting we or last couple meetings, we have added esports um to as a co-op um and elementary girls basketball. Um elementary boys basketball is
going to stay separate for now. Um but that's that's where we're at. The only thing on the agenda tonight is a discussion about JB baseball. So right now uh both districts do not have a head coach for their baseball teams. So um both are in the process of of hiring that if we look at our numbers projected Mr. Star uh threw me some numbers in high school for this coming year. Um, we have looks like five seniors, nine juniors, five sophomores, four freshmen. So, could that change? Absolutely. But that's where it is right now. So, um, we've talked about it, um, as we doing the JB this coming spring, uh, and then looking down the road the next year possibly just because numbers are going to dwindle or looks like they're not going to be
where they need to be. So, um I'm just throwing that out there that you know there has been a lot of talk about JB for this coming spring. >> Have we had any applicants for either school or varsity position? >> I think we have one. I think he's interviewing either tomorrow or Friday. Not yet. I I will say I think our the Greenwood numbers are between 15 and 20 uh for high school baseball players. Definitely heavier on the underassman right now. Um you know again like Greenwood already has a standing motion that will co-op. So this is not something that Greenwood has to take any action on. Um, but I would also like encourage, you know, tonight's conversation is about JB baseball, but I would also it would make to me logical sense if co-oping
JB baseball this year, the following year would include varsity. Without that, we're putting kids together one year, taking them apart the next, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. So especially when they're also they're co-op to middle school. So co-op in middle school JV and then not varsity. So it's a it's a transition but again that is decision for the lawyer board. I'm not looking for a decision tonight. I'm just saying this has been some talk. U like we said don't have a head coach as of right now. Um, so that's where we're at. I think it would be important on the at the interview on Friday to ask set applicant his vision for the program. And uh, also maybe even get a commitment passed this year in terms of if you want
it this year, that's great, but we're looking for somebody a little bit more longterm. And to reiterate what we as a board have talked about, uh, when a varsity coach is hired, there will be no assistant varsity coaches hired until a JV baseball coach has been brought on the staff. It's my understanding no either school has a JB coach right now. Correct. I do think there I I potentially have some interest if it's co-opted and I you know the the the piece that you have to think about also with co-ops is when when you co-op we did this before when you co-op JV players have to be designated for either JV or varsity in a co-op they can't go back and forth um between JV and varsity so if if you have in either district,
you can't have kids going playing a co-op team and a non-cop team. Um, but I think that's where the numbers that's where the numbers warrant right now. Um, this putting those two together would be able to create a a standalone JBT. What happened last year? We did approve it for last year, correct? And then they did not do it. >> Yeah, that was that was two two years ago. It was approved halfway through the season, I believe. And then we >> ended up not >> I think that was part of it. And I think there was some maybe some players had to maybe sit on both ends of it and kind of created a a mess and by the time they came back it was the season and they just said let's >> it was
never discussed last spring. It was discussed in 23 passed it and then both coaches came together and decided not to do it. In 23 it was passed at the board level but the coaches came together and decided it was not the time to do it. In 24 there was no discussion which is why you and I became baseball coaches. >> Yeah. In 23 there was there there was a problem with what I talked about a little bit ago where we couldn't bring kids back and forth. So once they if we would have put them in on JB, they wouldn't have been able to play varsity also. So that that created a problem that year, but I don't see that with the numbers that we're showing now. So all I can speak to is the year
I was head coach, we did qu JB um for probably 10 games. when that GPU finished out then they went back to their varsity programs at that point. >> When was that? >> It's been two years since >> you have not been two years ago. So, we'll take it to the athletic committee that'll be meeting here soon from there. We'll have a coach at that point. >> We have So, just double checking. So, if we decide to co-op JB baseball, we have to do that by December one. >> Oh, this is just proposed. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, it would be nice to know, you know, December, January, something like that. So, we're not up against the clock and there is no clock because NJB is not affiliated with WIA. So as long as
well it is but as long as you your two boards agree on co-oping then you can go up JP and just like Mr. Green said you just kids that are weer kids that may go up for a game and come back down just they can't do that they got to be committed to one and that's where they're going to stay. November 2026 referendum question. That's a handout I gave you before the meeting. Um all that's just a draft. So this is a a sample consolidation the start of a sample consolidation plan. Uh simply what what we did was took the the most recent the one the most recent the Schwamagan consolidation plan and and took them out and put us in um remove language on dates and and the board seats and stuff like that.
But essentially this is a framework that we need to keep in mind moving forward um that you know ultimately will lead to a November 2026 binding refere referendum question that will be asking voters do you approve this plan. So when we talk about like the the actual referendum question I think that will actually be pretty simple. It's going to be do you approve this plan or not? you want this, you know, and that's what, you know, so so we need to work on, you know, we need to work on or work toward this something similar to this. Um, so there's a, you know, there's a lot of things in here. It's again, this is just a draft framework. Um, but I think it's at least something to work from. Referring to the question, I absolutely
disagree. Again, this has to be this feasibility study. That question has to say, do you agree some to the effect of do you agree with sorry, do you agree with the consolidation of loyal agreement with school districts where school grades are here, school grades are there and with a referendum to be, you know, whatever it would be, the dollar amount that we'd still have to ask the voters to agree to go beyond the years of consolidation. Otherwise, people going to the ballot don't know all that information. just simply saying to you agree to the consolidation is not enough information and not everything is being recorded anymore or necessarily being checked on the websites at this point in time. So at that point in time, no matter what, to me, it has to have more specifics
as to what the consolidation is going to look like. So when people go to the ballot, they can look on that ballot and see where their kids are going to be busted back and forth what the referendum validates are going to be. I think that's I mean I I get that, but I think that's what this plan is for. um that this spells out everything. I don't know that you to have all of that on a question would be an extremely long ballot question. I think when you you know when we go to referendum for operational operational referendum which we both do and we go to operational referendum none this is a much bigger deal but when we go to operational referendum we ask the voters do do you approve to exceed the revenue limit
by this amount? You know that's that's a very simple question. We don't save to spend on this this this this this. We do that in all of the all the town meetings that we go to. We the clubs, the organizations that we go to. We take this plan and we we share it. We put it on our website. We create brochures. We pump it out at meetings. We share all the details of this so that when we get to the ballot, we have we've done our job to inform our voters. This is the plan that we've been working on. Do you approve the plan? I truly believe that if somebody goes to the ballot in in November and says they don't know what the plan is, that's probably going to be on them. The same
thing if they go to the ballot and say that they don't understand what what an operational referendum dollars are for, that's on them. And and if it's not on them, it means that we didn't communicate it enough. So this is this is the plan that we have to create with all the details. There's no way you can put a ballot. you don't have enough time at the at the polls to read all this. >> So I mean I think that we have to have this as the plan. This has nothing to do with where schools I understand that we understand and Greenwood are going to consolidate. But on the question on the ballot >> it does it needs to say where the schools are going to be an issue >> explanation of where students would
attend and buildings that would be in operation that would all be explained out in this plan. all of this anything you want to be explained in this plan here. But ultimately when they go into a ballot it should be it's not that long to say do you agree to consolidation school districts where the high school is in this community that elementary or middle school is in this community and do you agree to a referendum with x amount and millions of dollars at the school that's that's not that long of a question people people can read I think it depends on what you uh what you want answer so it all has to be in this consolidation When when Bob Hubler was here under this proposed thing was an option, right? It wasn't. Yeah, you don't
have Yeah, you don't have to you don't have to identify anything. That's all these are these are these are this is just a draft. This is this is just a draft for us to have something to go through and start from. So instead of recreating the wheel, I took what another district already had and blanked out a bunch of stuff with their names and their dates and just gave us a starting point to have conversation. But this is the thorough plan that would defined what a consolidation would look like. >> And that one you went and chose and chose from did they have anything on that in there or not or >> Yeah, they did. They had they in Schwang they defined that I believe it was 5 years that certain certain kids would go
to certain kids would go to Park Falls. So they had that defined in the plan. That's what I just took that out because I the last thing I want is anyone to think that we've already made decisions. The joint board has already made decision on where kids are going on. We haven't even talked about it. So, I took all that out and just and just put explanation of where students would attend and buildings that would be in operation. That is for facility studies, financial studies, and a lot of joint board conversation to determine. But that's all spelled out in a consolidation plan. I was just going to ask before after Matt's initial comment just how you had said that I would I'm I do want it on the ballot like a little bit more specific
and do you agree to the plan? But I think that that's going to be a huge job on us and on both districts is to make sure like you said when we were asking for referendum dollars a couple years ago and the year that it passed. I mean some of us were going door todo with flyers and we had people at every sporting events um handing out information and ask you know if you have questions I think that absolutely has to happen. So, um I'm not saying that I think it should be a really generic question as well, but I I I'm not sure on the question yet of what we should say, but I think absolutely like every single person in these districts that are going to be going to ballots need to have
this plan um and be able to read it because I think there's a lot of times where someone goes to the ballot with no or goes to vote with not enough information and they check a box and they leave. And this is too big of a decision for anybody to go in there and not have the plan. Would it be would it be ridiculous to have this plan at Can Can we do that? Like can this be at the where the city halls are >> I don't know the rules on that. We could check who cannot have it and they have the election. >> That would be like having a a senator there handing out their brochure. Right. >> They have to be 100 ft away from the building. So we can stand across the
street one 101 ft. >> Okay. I'm just saying I just want to make sure that anybody going to the polls, anybody going to the polls has this information because I don't want people to just check a box with, oh yeah, I support the consolidation, but not have any idea what our plan is. >> Absolutely. Well, we we do our best. We we do our absolute best. We go to townships. We go to Lions Clubs and auxiliaries and you do everything you can. At the end of the day, it is the is the responsibility of the voter to know what they're voting for. And people vote like we do our best, okay? We will. And and the the the plan is the plan. We have to do a plan, okay? The vote, we can we can
decide. You're going to have to decide on the wording of a ballot question. Whether it's simple or complex, you have to decide on that. But regardless, you have to have a consolidation plan that defines what your consolidation is. And this is just a framework to start from. So my my comment would be and I believe we talked about you know once the feasibility study is completed to have that information made public and and it's really up to the board to decide you know what you know they're going to I believe they're going to list a number of scenarios of how buildings could be used. So, isn't it up for our boards to be able to and the community understand that these are the these are the proposals and look at, you know, what seems to
be the best fit for our two districts and on the use of the current buildings that we have. So that wasn't it the whole point of having the timeline we did the RFPs and and to go through those to be able to get that process going so that we do have that information well before that November 2026 hope. So that would be having community meetings after that, having information on our school websites, having information in paper are all good ways of being able to communicate, you know, what direction we're looking at. Um, so I think that and that's on all of us to be able to to come up with that plan and to say this is this is how we're looking at utilizing buildings and what what schools are going to be in what.
Um, so I think you know that's that's how I see it. I don't know if anyone can differ or have others to add, but that's how I see it that we would want to communicate that as well as we could and then to be able to make sure we described in that section 10. Um if you know if you wanted to uh put some things the one point I would say on the the operating referendum um that's going to be difficult right in November 26 to know what dollar amount correctly we'll have a good idea how our budgets are working for the next year but you know the the current referendums don't expire until 2028 so that would be something we would need to definitely involve our financial consultants to say or to to consider
where we are and and what the projection is. But that that number to my my thinking could change slightly. Uh we know that, you know, we know that our amount of money that we would have to request as a joint school district will be less than what we currently are we think will be less than what we currently are each doing. But until we really know how kind of how this all fits together, it's it's going to be a number that we might not be able to to get exactly right. So I understand when you're saying the plan the there's a difference with what's on the agenda, the question, the plan, and I understand the plan needs to be done. I just still feel that when I first moved into Loyal many years ago, my
children were very young in 2006, 2007. And when we, my wife and I heard about it, we didn't attend all these meetings. We were a young family at that point. We had a lot of obligations with our kids trying to raise them at home and get to schoolboard meetings and look at all that stuff. So that's why I say it's tough to think that everybody's going to be well informed when they come to that because some people are very active with young families with lots of young kids. So that's why I say I think more with the with the with the question has to be more specific with the school. Um in referring to Mr. for's comment about the doubt I agree you're not going to know exactly that's why I'm asking when I say
the study the feasibility of how many schools are you going to have you know what again you can't probably what is the staffing what are we looking at staffing at the time of consolidation those figures when they look at it how many students how many schools we're going to be operating and how many students are and how many teachers approximately are going to need to be staffing there should be able to be a pretty darn good amount close not exactly what money is going to need federal fund. And if you consolidate and like I said before, there could be retaliatory voting opposite. If you lose your school in your school district, you may look and say, "Look, I'm still paying the same amount of taxes on as what I was before consolidation, depending upon how
many kids would open and roll out, go to different school districts." And you may say, "Well, now I'm so I'm not going to if I don't have this school in my community, now you're going to have people who aren't going to vote for referendums because of that." That's just a that's just what's going to happen. It's not like it's nicer, but what a so why would you consolidate two school districts together to not know that if you're going to need it and do two schools and again what I told you about roughly $2 million to operate the consolidated school district and the voters go to ballot a year later on that referendum and vote no, you're in the same predicament you were before. you're going to end up possibly not being able to pass that
referendum and you're going to close up your schools anyways because you can't pass a referendum because the people didn't know the whole story of what was going to happen. So that's that's my concern is just getting that information giving everybody what they're voting on. And I just think the best way is yeah, you can't have a long- winded two-page question, but I think you can narrow down where the schools are going to be and making sure that people are going to vote for a referendum. I think um we need to remember that that mentality where you vote in both ways where people will not vote in favor of a rep referendum if you don't consolidate because I don't want to be in the shoes of some of the other districts that are going to referendum
and going to closer school because they can't make it anymore and then it's not our decision. the state not want them to control their destiny. I want us to control our destiny. >> I agree with that. That's we just have to make sure that we're getting the full information. >> Yeah. I also want to make it clear that there has been no conversation about closing any school yet. Um and and honestly there's two priorities for people. One is saving money. One is creating opportunities. I've said this before, like I don't know by any study that closing any buildings is going to allow us to create any more opportunities for our kids. So, I think there, you know, I I think that the joint board needs to make sure that we're keeping both of those things
in mind and both of those things in balance. Yes, we want to save money, but not at the expense of ripping opportunities away from our kids. So, you know, we've taken tours now in the last two months of of both districts. I can tell you there are pros and you know pros and cons to both of our districts. There are great things happening in both of our districts and and I worry if we continue the narrative that somebody's going to lose their school that that's a turnoff also because we are I believe we're going to take opportunities away from kids. So we need to make sure that there there has been no conversation about closing a school and and that's why we're doing facility studies. um to look at, you know, how do we maximize
our resources in a more fiscally responsible way. That has to continue to be the conversation and the focus of the joint board. How do we save money but yet create more opportunities? And and we have we haven't gotten far enough down that road yet to say that any building should be open or any building should be closed. And I think we need to let that process play out and I think it will and I think our as long as we keep moving I think the consolidation plan will come together and I think will lead us to a question that we need to ask. There's going to be some long discussions and some disagreements but we need to work through this process and and let it let it play out. >> Um I'd like to go
off what Shannon said. Shannon, they do give us explanations, additional explanations that we can post in the town hall. >> You can only post >> what what is given to us. >> What is given to us from the county? >> You can have it at your city hall or polling place leading up to the day of the election. But the day of election, the clerk has to pull that stuff. >> Yeah. But the explanation from the county does not have to be pulled >> that and that's one sheet and it's just going to basically say what your question is. Yes, this. know this and you post that. That's the only thing you can post. >> Yes. So, we do get the whole packet. You cannot. >> No, the whole packet we couldn't unless the county
would approve it. It would be put on, right? >> I think that's Wisconsin election commission. I the county can't unless you put that whole thing under which you're not going to do. >> Correct. >> But no, that that's election commission. They're not going to let you post that whole thing at your thing because it's saying you're either influencing or you're not influencing. That's why it's got to be 100t away. Well, for anybody influencing needs to be 100 feet away, but the explanation of the question, >> the election commission basic question that you can put on your table is all it is. >> What the question is >> I see as much as a paragraph already. >> Yeah. Depending on what they put on, >> right in April for the city is very basic. >> Oo
is doing a refering question in April, >> but that's up to the election commission. >> Correct. >> Okay. So then the election commission would have control of that. >> So a question here was when does that question have to be in for the county? And that is the first part of August. Uh and I believe it is our job. We're sitting up here to make sure we have a distinct plan and that we get it out to everyone else and we have what our bullet points are of positives and and what what what are the negatives and we get out there and just like any other referendum and inform as many possible people as you can and have it everywhere. So they can have a everyone on the same page of this is what we
are saying in both communities and going from there. Want to add we've done a lot of work already. I mean watching you guys we're going to make concessions. We're going to get information for the we're going to build a story over the next year right but it ain't going to happen today. We're not going to have every single answer today. I mean, ad hoc committees and and studies and RFPs and all that stuff, but it is our job and I think we're all doing a really good job of it, right? We don't know everything, right? To Mr. Green's point, that number 10, that could be listed 37,000 different ways if we don't know what that's going to say today. But what we're going to do for both communities is give as much information as we
can. We're going to build that story. We're going to let them decide and we're going to do it together, right? That that's what it is. It's going to go one way or the other. I think we're doing a really good job right now. Look at tonight. There's more people here already than there has been the last three weeks, right? I bet you the next time we go over there, it's gonna be even more. That's fantastic. We just got to listen to these folks, too. And we are doing that. So, it's easy to focus on November and but it's going to take us time to get there and it's going to be a process. We just it's high emotions and it's a lot of work, but one step at a time. I was just going to
add to your point, Mr. Lintner, about our role as getting that information out there and I agree with that and I think that we do need to do that. One thing I want to mention is that like you just said Sean with like high emotion um and I think that this goes for everybody that if we're putting the information out there it needs to be factual >> and it needs to be um there's a difference between putting the information out there and giving people our plan and and answering questions to the best of our ability and persuading people to go one way or another. So, I think that's the that's our job as the boards that we're working together. Um, because we all might have different opinions about how this is going to play out,
but I think the the best thing that we can do is to inform instead of persuade. And informing hopefully will be this exact plan and not um emotions or opinions because that's where it starts to get really tricky. Very cool. >> If I said persuade, I meant informal. >> You did, >> right? >> Oh, all right. proposed legis legislation. So I shared with you um proposed legislation um that is coming from the I would say the Republican party. Um and this legislation is they're they're looking at there's I would say there's some traction at the at the state level um to look consolidation. I won't say I would guess there is. I know there is. Um they the the Republican party has significant interest in consolidation. Um and and I think that they are ready
to throw put some money behind it. Uh the legislation that you have in front of you came out of Representative Zimmerman's office, which I believe he's in River the River Falls area. Um it's it looks at awarding up to $25,000 to districts considering consolidation um to help cover the cost of feasibility studies. Um I don't know how helpful that will be to us now. Um but I do think that we would still be paying some of those bills in 27 when this may come to fruition. Um so something to keep an eye on. They are also talking about legislation that and and and I also think this has some teeth behind it that would hold districts harmless for declining enrollment or lost revenue in the first 5 years of consolidation. So there would be be
a hold harmless clause that you know wherever our revenue limit is in the year of consolidation. Um it would stay that way for at least the first 5 years and then slowly it would get to where it should be or where the formula sets it. So there is there is there is some legislation some conversation out there about um consolidation. Um, I will tell you that there is there has been a little conversation about forced consolidation versus voluntary consolidation. Um, and I can tell you that there's some legislators that are more for forced consolidation for areas they think it makes sense. Uh, but entities like DPI are are definitely not in favor of forced consolidation. Uh, so I do think that there is there I know there's more conversation coming out about consolidation and I
know that there are a number of legislators that are tuned in to what Loyal and Greenwood are doing. Any questions about that? weighted grades. >> Weighted grades was uh came at the end of or the as a suggestion put on our agenda. Both individual boards have talked about weighted grades. Um I can give you a little summary of the conversation in Greenwood. Um the conversation mostly revolved around the inequity that weighted grades would cause right now between the two districts. Um and philosophically uh saying that one class is more valuable than another class. Uh it doesn't always bode well for for staff or students. Um you know there's there's students that are are really good at you know sciences or or math classes or the you have the ability to take AP classes but stick
them in a welding booth and they're done. Um, so I I think the conversation revolved more around, you know, every class that we offer our kids are important to the kids that are in the class um and have have weight, you know, for for that. Students that are taking AP or dual credit classes, their reward for that class is a boatload of savings when they go to college. and and the cost that that the district incurs paying for college credit. Um so I think that the other inequity that it it would cause between the two districts would be there's there's no question about it. Uh school district of loyal kids have way more opportunity for dual credit options because of the flexibility that NTC provides versus CBTC right now. So if if we were to
enter into a weighted grade system come consolidation time, there would be a huge inequity for between the two districts uh because because of the opportunities that are afforded based on the zip code that kids live in. Um, so I think that right now, um, and and and the other fact is universities aren't really they're really encouraging us not to do it. Uh, because when they when they look at when they look at GPA and and stuff, they're converting all back to a 4.0 scale and they're looking more at what classes they took, not necessarily what scale the the course was was graded on. So there's a lot of reasons right now that the Greenwood board and I told you I would summarize our conversation, but uh the Greenwood board felt like this is the conversation
to have after consolidation. >> Can you remind us I think it's six classes that Greenwood has available and it's more like in the teams for Loyal. Is that correct? >> I don't know the exact number, but it's it's a fairly large difference. I don't know the exact number. I don't know Mr. Williamsburg off the top of your head either. >> The discrepancy happens in the course. I think CTE wise they're probably fairly close maybe a difference of one or two but when we talk about something as simple as algebra 2, right? If we're going to weight algebra 2 differently green with students we CBTC's requirement to offer algebra 2 is different than NTC. So we'd have to have a teacher with a master's degree. We don't have a math teacher with a master's degree here.
Right. And there's >> it's a master's degree on 30 credits. >> Correct. >> CD requires a master's degree on 30 credits in that area and NTC requires a letter of recommendation from the school district. >> That is one example >> which is great for NTC. It's wonderful. It's just a inequity in where you live. It's not just Greenwood, but it's all the districts that are served by CBTC. It's just a huge inequity. I also think one other thing and as we you know evolve as a district and I think this is something our ad hoc committees need to talk about too but you know meeting the needs of our kids where they are and making sure that we are not putting any kind of value is not the right term conversation around what area they
choose to go on their career path I don't I don't think that anyone would say that they somebody that's in a trade is less valuable than somebody that is working in a job as a teacher or as a business owner, whatever it is. I I really have a problem with making kids feel like if I don't take this class, I'm not as good as that other kid. Because every job is valuable and every worker is needed and every student should get to do the path that they want and not have to feel like they are more than or less than because of it. >> And I have a four year degree and I took a lot of AP classes. So coming from the loyal side, this is has been brought up for a while. Um,
and we did develop the plan and uh, and I know the principles talked about it, looked it over um, Mr. Murray and Mrs. Kenberger brought it to the board, talked, discussed, and then really felt Call me if I'm wrong here. Um that we would decide before we make any movement. What is what is Greenwood doing? And I had a thought if you oppose it then maybe it's a time where when if this transpires then when we get together then that could be reooked at again. Um, anyone else has? Go ahead. >> Okay. So, when I originally brought this up, I had found out that um over 7 years ago, a parent had brought it up. So, this is nothing to do agreeing with like before when it was just um 7 years ago, a parent
had brought it up and nothing happened. Um, and then I brought it up in the 23 24 school year and nothing happened. And that's where my passion for trying to get this figured out is because nothing has been happening like um so our guidance counselor and our principal both agreed um that it was a good idea and um your AP classes which are more vigorous. Thank you. vigorous classes should be worth more. And um the example our principal gave um was she literally threw herself under the bus and said a biad class is no extra outside of class work. Whereas your AP classes, those kids are doing an hour or two of homework every single night. Um they are more vigorous classes. Therefore, those students that choose to do those classes should get an additional
word, but an additional recognition for their efforts. Um, and this was before the whole Greenwood thing consolidation. But I also look at the flip side. So what if boil doesn't do it and then come November 26th the voters decide not to consolidate then that's another couple of years that boil still hasn't done anything when I have issue with that when it's already been since it was first brought up 7 years and then there we sit with another couple years have passed and we still have not done anything on the issue if the consolidation like the voters do not approve the consolidation. Um I'm glad it's brought to my attention tonight. I didn't realize NTC and CBTC um didn't the same. So I don't know how we could fairly do this >> in combination. >> Yeah.
to be fair she right it's it's hard to do it together because it's not apples to apples right there's differences right now to be fair both of them we still operate though as we operate agreement right so there are decisions that can be made separate now keeping in mind consolidation right but you almost have to wait to take both sides if you want to do that till we were together if we're together you know come time because then it kind of left the playing field right but before I I don't think it's even possible. Like, correct me if I'm wrong, I just don't think it is. >> So, one question that I asked during our meeting was cuz I do think that if you're taking more classes that take more time, like you should like
I I agree with you that like if you're taking a hard schedule that taking you more time, that is worth something. But correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is you get threequarters of a credit for an AP class and you only get a half a credit for that >> so our sweet network. >> Yes. >> A college credit sweetener was worth 0.25 high school credits. So it's a three college class done it's 75 whereas the regular English 10 or 12 whatever it may be that's half a credit. And then our AP English is three trimesters. So then those kids earn a credit and a half in AP. You know what I mean? Like it all kind of works out that way. But as far as >> you're getting more credit for the class that
you're taking that is taking you more time and it's harder. It's just it isn't giving you a higher shouldn't give you a higher GPA, but it isn't automatically making your grade higher just because you're taking the harder class harder. I I I think this is worthy of conversation. I just think we have to wait till November 2026 to figure out if it's something we're doing together or separate. And I I think that might I mean The problem is if you start it the question is can you start by yourself you can I mean we're not going to tell you what you can and can't do your school districts are loyal you can all we're saying is that creates a big inequity if we do consolidate um between you know this year's well essentially this year's
freshman who would be seniors and eth you know eighth grade seventh graders who would be juniors and sophomores would create a huge inequity because of the opportunities that they've had um and purchase For example, you know, we had a number of students from Loyal that came here last year and took a human structures class um with our teacher as a dual credit class. If that's going to be weighted higher, I mean, that's that's the inequity that's causing loyal students from Loyal could came here, got dual credit, and students from Greenwood if they would have taken that same class in that classroom with loyal kids would not have gotten dual credit because of where their zip code is. So that's the huge inequity that will cause come consolidation time. >> And I just want to say
I I know that Mickey, I know you're super passionate about this and I I know that um this is something that you've talked about for a long time. Um in our in our loyal meeting, we did come up with kind of a plan and talking with the principles. Um, but then when it was talked about a little bit more, I did say I I just I don't I don't want to like not make decisions because Greenwood's not doing it because you're right, we are two separate entities and we have to do what's what's best for our district right now, too. And we don't know what the future holds exactly. And I'm not saying that I don't think that weighted grades is something we should we shouldn't talk about in the future. I think that we
we should if we do consolidate we should but I'm just really concerned about if we do something as a loyal board and we go with weighted grades and then we end up consolidating it will it will be a huge issue and and when we talk about validator and saludiator and all of that kind of stuff how is that even going to when we come together how is that even going to happen so I know that you're passionate about it and and I I'm I want to learn more about it and I and I think it's definitely worth discussion in the future when it's an equ even playing field for everybody. >> I guess I agree too and and I would even go to the point of when you consolidate start freshman grade because different teachers
are teaching different things learn different things. So I would say >> I don't know about Greenwood but um for Loyal our dual credit classes starts sophomore year we had discussed starting it with sophomores >> my question is and I don't know if anybody has this answer if we do consolidate are we available to at both technical colleges that are schools. >> That's my understanding. I did talk to the president of the tech school and that was her explanation. >> I I will tell you we we had more of a I would say philosophical conversation at our at our board meeting and I I feel like and correct me if I'm wrong, but I I don't feel like philosophically this created a board supports what you did grades philosophically right now. So I but I but
I I'm interested to hear like but I think learning more and figuring out as a as a board like how does your board feel like learn talk talk through it doesn't hurt to have those conversations talk through it figure out like as a board philosophically do you believe in weighted grace and what they are so that you know so that come if if you decide to wait come the time that we're ready to have that conversation together. We can have that conversation and we're ready for it. >> Oh, I said we got so have to just pick one or the other if they would consolidate. >> My understanding is we can use both because we because they Yeah, because we would have students on both sides of 73. That's the cut off. So, so it
is on on the agenda. Um, is there any action? If there's no action, there's action. If there's not, then it just stays non action that believe that we take action. The biggest thing that I took out of the meeting that we had is we didn't want to make any decisions without having this problem right here. So there is no secrets. So, we we were handed um a one page sheet that lists how our work describes wave grades and the classes that could potentially be weighted. I'm just wondering if these are just loyal classes. NTC classes although there is one for CPTC word culture but NPC does not run. I would say that the by sharing this amongst boards and then to find out what classes Greenwood has from CBTC would be helpful. Um the other
thing along those same lines we talked earlier with you know the the community partner business um relations is are there some additional courses that we could could get from either NPC or CBTC that would align with those clusters and you know, help support our students. So, keeping that in mind, it would probably be a larger list going forward in both areas. Um, so that those that are those that are going to a technical college would be as eligible to receive points as those who are going to a 4-year college program. So, you guys haven't seen our list cuz I was surprised, too. I was thinking like I was thinking like okay right I was thinking like okay yeah there's going to be like the really really hard classes on there okay but there's a lot
of like like other classes too like there's I think a welding a cooking >> yeah so it's not it's not just specific to a four-year and I was surprised pleasantly surprised to see that so again I think this is a discussion for down the road but I was pleasantly surprised to see it the options that were available for the waiting period So again, like Tom said, maybe coming up with a list of everything and that's discussion for future. But I was surprised at what what our kids were offered and what like classes would have cuz it was a lot more than what I had originally thought that would show like the inequities, right? >> By having that show the inequities, right? Not not bad or good. It's just okay. So is these three Z or
whatever. So yeah, that's would you like to see on loyal agenda for next week or >> um so I just got one more comment too. Um on the loyal side, you do agree with um part of the benefit and I believe it's listed on some of the benefits and um so forth are on our sheet which you guys have seen but it states that um when it comes to balance that kind of differentiate too. the kids that are taking more rigorous classes get the higher GPA and when it comes down to um I know it goes by GPA and then Chris what's next and then if there's a tie it goes to ACT score and I know I heard through the great mind this year that there are five students that all have the same
ETA whereas is if it goes way to grades. I mean, who's to say that student C is taking all AP credit classes and student E is taking, you know, BIED and, you know, such classes like that. Whereas weighted grades would help level that out a little better. One thing I mentioned at the loyal board meeting was a two but I'm concerned about too you know you're if you not to say it's important but absolutely for for but that's the things that also if you have people wanting to pay for that well that could take away from those other parts of struggling right now so that is a concern not to be able but I just think again wellrounded that might hurt them. >> Yeah, that I think in some respects there's the thought that that
contradicts what we're trying to do with encouraging kids to chase yet to chase the dream that you know they want. Um we see a declining number of kids that are going for a year and that's okay. like we want to encourage Detroit. We want to encourage the trades because it's it's big and honestly in our area, you know, that's what that whole committee is about. It's it's encouraging kids to pursue pursue trades and this could be considered a little contradictory to that effort, but I think more conversation public forum. Another opportunity for anybody in the public that wants to come up and speak. They only give them a little time to see if they want Can I Can I bring one more thing? I want to go back and revisit the whole big question thing,
but to Liza and to my comments when we were talking about concerns about, you know, how would whether you did didn't get rid of schools or kept the same amount of schools and and what people would vote and whether there'd be retaliate. My one thing that when I first got on the board, I wonder the conversations were big about the we're not going to pass another referendum with the with the money and I know you said there'll be some cuts, you know, or that possibly some cuts at that point comments were made. Well, if the Amish communities start to come out and go, we're not going to pass. So, if we keep three schools is my concern, which you guys are saying, oh, we don't and we're still in the, you know, two or three
million dollar point. That's that's my concern is that that we wouldn't pass if we consolidate. So that's I just want to have >> I agree 100%. That's why I think we need to play this out and see what that you know what our studies tell us. So that again yes we there's two there's two goals. Save money but not necessarily at the expense of reducing opportunity. So we we have to I don't think anybody I I really don't I don't think anybody in our communities been We have we live in two very supportive communities. Very supportive. They love our schools. I don't think anyone would argue that, you know, we should be offering less opportunities. But if we can be more fiscally responsible, if these studies come back and and we we we pick a
vendor that's going to do the work for us to tell us, you know, this is how you can be more fiscally responsible without eliminating maybe adding opportunities like I you know I that those have to be those have to remain our focus and yes I I I do I do believe that the Amish men they're wonderful people Mr. and I went and visited them again in the last couple weeks. They're wonderful people and I do believe in in my conversations and I I do have several conversations with them. I do believe as long as we are showing that we are making efforts to to be fiscally responsible. They know they they know that, you know, we want to have healthy schools for our kids. They know that as as you know, I want their kids
to be educated. It makes us a better community. They they know that I think as long as we are showing that we're making good effort to to spend our money wisely, I I think they can I think they'll be, you know, I think they'll just stay out of our way. But again, I think we need to work through this work through this process and and you know, we have some studies going on and and I'm excited about it. Um, we just we're going to learn a lot. I've learned a lot about our district in the last couple weeks preparing for a tour. Like I I'm not a date date guy, so I don't know all the dates. how, you know, when when the different sections of the building, you know, were built and and how
that worked and where some, you know, where some of the other things used to be located. It's good for us to know and I think we're going to learn a lot more about our buildings and about our districts. Um, but again, our goal has to be to maximize what we have um keep our focus on opportunities for our kids. Last chance. Anybody say? All right, we'll move on. Set the next meeting date times. Let's go with the date first. You guys do interviews on the 12. It's the second Wednesday. Then we're going to do our meeting. You said 12 for joint. >> 12 joint. So 12 were for the next joint committee. oil. >> I I do think and maybe not at this next meeting, but eventually here we are going to have to start
some close session meetings jointly. So it does need to be on the next agenda, but we need to start preparing the college and that >> I agree. those close session would be to discuss stamping. Yeah, we have to be clear about that. That's why we would go into close session. There's nothing because that would be the legal reason. So, if we have staffing to discuss or staffing questions that the joint board has for for us, that's the place that you're asking. So, if we're ready, are we ready to do that or start that conversation next? I don't think we had two conversation in close session, but we still start putting it on the agenda now. So, >> you're up maybe 6:30 close session. >> Yeah. is the close session in your conference room. You just
is that how you do it? Do it right there and then you open it up. >> So 663. >> So right now on the agenda will be the request for proposals. Um ad hot committees. Um would we do we need to keep will you have an athletic committee prior to then? >> We don't have those. >> Do we should we leave that off this month? They can like again baseball has a proposed date of December like if it waits till December the December joint meeting or like but also like that's something you can take on because we already have approved co-hopping as something you take on the regular agenda. So I can leave the athletic time off. Um I do think that we should leave the consolidation plan referendum question on. I think this healthy
conversation for us to keep working through and if we can pick pieces of that plan off um a little bit at a time. I think that's that's wise um because again it's it's a year until the the referendum question, but it's only about 9 months before we have to have the plan done. So we we need to keep moving on. as well keep consolidation plan referendum question. Um anything else that anybody would like on that agenda? We did have a request from the loyal board to revisit the live streaming and the um archiving of previous meetings. Now, I I understand Scream's position that you're okay with what we currently have, but to let you know, at our next board meeting, we are going to have conversation and discussion that will center around all board meetings
joint will go to the public for duration of the referendum for the next year. We won't be archiving, we won't be dropping anything after 30 days. That is going to be what is discussed at our next board meeting. So that's something that Loyal would do independently agree with. >> I Yes. If you guys feel that you guys don't want it to be addressed again, that's fine. But Loyal is going to go that route. >> How would that work for joint meetings if we if we have two different >> They'll be available on the Loyal website only. >> So record half the conversation. >> So you're not like how is that going to work? Like we we got to work together. >> Yeah. >> We got to work together on this. Like this is where we
voted on that. Did we vote on that once already? >> Well, it was it was voted. It doesn't I mean, just because you vote on something doesn't mean it can't be brought up. I mean, it was again >> we did have a member of our board. >> One person on it was I believe if I recall right, it was an 8 to2 8 to2 vote. >> You know, I voted on ours voted separately, >> right? But overall, it would have been 8 to right. I I I I don't have a name of the people. >> We were a person away over here from me having >> Yeah. I just I mean we're going to do that separately. We're going to It's going to create problems. We at a joint meeting because one of us have
we're going to change. We're going to change. We have to change together. I I really believe that. We're not going to We're not going to change. We have to not change the other ways. It's going to this it's fine for your regular needs, but it's going to cause problems in joint meetings. >> Can I ask a question? >> I just have a question and I know we tal we've talked about this a lot, but my question is to the Greenwood board is and I don't know who's going to answer it, but like what what is the reason for the 30 days and then it's gone? I just I'm just curious cuz I want to try to understand. So like in our meetings we've talked about just because like if we talk about something tonight and
next month it's gone but we don't talk about said subject again next month. The most current stuff that we talk about might be two months ago. We might because we're not talking about every topic every month. So if we discuss let's just say ad hoc committee branding tonight and we don't next month and we do the month following that information is gone. So that was kind of one of our things is the most current might not be discussed at 30 days ago. I guess I'm just wondering um what what is the reason for the 30 days isn't gone and and maybe that'll help me understand a little bit more too, but I don't think I'm not going to speak for all of us, but I think the biggest reason why I was like I don't
think they need to be out there forever is because I I don't want somebody to go back a year or two years and be like, well, this was said at this meeting and this is what is happening. It's like no, you're you're not looking at the right year. You know what I mean? Like I that's where I'm like if and maybe 30 days is too short, but when you get years and years of information out there and you don't you look a month and you click on it and you could be watching stuff that's completely irrelevant and not even realize it. You know, like that was my biggest thing or I mean the other thought is are people really going back and watching things after month after month. >> How many people are complaining? >>
But I think that might be part of the >> I don't have anybody saying you need to put them out there longer. Like I have not had one person tell me that we need to post our videos long. >> I think part of that is cuz you guys don't live much regular meetings. >> Whereas our people are used to that and having that option to go back if they you know have another event that night and couldn't attend then it's there to go back and watch it later on. And that kind of did what you were saying there. If that is the case, then what would it hurt then leaving it on their finger? If there's nobody even going back to look at it, right? So there's an argument to be made. I would say
I'd like to discuss it with all of us cuz like she said, I don't want to I'm not going to speak for all of our board members, but I think we can all agree we'd be open to discussing that, right? And then take care. I don't think it's a huge deal. Let's just say that. You know, we could get that figured out very quickly. But I'd like to talk with everybody before what we say needs. Yeah, we have nothing to find. >> Yeah, and that's what I was just going to say. It helps with communication, transparency to the community members to be able to go back and watch at least through the record window. That way the information is out there. >> Sorry, go ahead. >> Um, and I know like when this stuff is
posted, it says, you know, join schoolboard meeting and the date right in the title. So, I mean, if people accidentally click on something from how long ago, it's obviously way in the past. Whereas, if it's something that says a date 2025, it's a little more relevant. But I think for transparency purposes, at least through the referendum, that way it's out there and people can look back and see it. I know I for one um back when Bob Butler was here um I was taking notes but I did not get the handouts printed because they weren't sent out until the day of. I didn't have the actual printed copy of those handouts. So I was trying to take notes as fast as I could. And my thinking was I will go back later and fill in
the rest of my notes only to come to find out it was never even recorded. So everything that I did not get written down, I did not get to go back and watch and finish filling in where that would have been really nice because that was my thought and I probably could have would have taken quicker faster notes had I known it was not going to be recorded in person. >> And I think this I got a question for Travis. Travis, is this YouTube? So when you go on and you can just Google search it, will these be pulled up or can we just get this back to our websites for our schools and then archive previous meetings? >> Google finds everything. >> The best way to put it. So if it's out there, it'll
find it. >> It'll find it. But would would it have to be dug deeper rather than just laying on straight YouTube? >> It would be right on top still. My suggestion is that the meetings that are previous should all be in an archive file. Then people would know >> toes that they would know be an archive file. Let's just do this the right way though. >> Let's just put it back on the Let's put it back on the agenda for discussion at the November joint meeting. And so it's it's we're doing this doing this stuff together and and anything anything that we have to decide to change is still there like and it can still be brought back out but let's do this the right way otherwise we're going to create a problem between the
two districts for something that we could discuss the right way and that's again I want to remind everyone that is what the set next meeting date time topics is for. that's for us to have discussion at the end of the meeting. We talk about what do we want on the next agenda and unless there's I really believe that that jeopardizes transparency as well. If we are adding stuff to the agenda after we post it like unless it's unless it's time sensitive or we have to get something done um in a timely manner, let's have those discussions and and add them to the agenda. >> Just a real quick question. Was this issue was this topic asked to be put on the agenda today or not? >> It was asked by somebody. Yeah. One of >>
the agenda. >> Yeah. After the agenda was posted in the paper, >> but that's >> I'm just saying you said do it the right way. I have it on the agenda, but I think it was already asked to be on the >> It was asked like a few days ago. >> Yeah. >> After the agenda was already turned in. >> That's what I'm saying. Like that's >> it was not asked at the last at the last meeting. Well, we talked about it, but then we came back and it was discussed more than a couple of days ago. It was asked to go back on the agenda and I think we had a problem before it was printed all the information we'd like and it just never got on the agenda. >> Yeah. I Yeah, I
don't know. It was printed paper agenda. >> It's okay. I just let's get back on your want to have a conversation about it. One concern I guess I like and there's board members here as well that were on and I know you guys didn't have a strategic plan but on our strategic plan it was discussed and there's board members and wives and stuff that were there and it was to try to get notes and information and be out to the public and keep so they could see it and do it and I think this is kind of defeating that purpose when when we're deleting or where people can't go back and look at it and I'm agreeing not to be on here forever but I think at this point in time our discussions and and
stuff and the boards until the consolidation and whatever you want to do after that. It would be nice for for multiple reasons why it's a good thing. So, >> yeah, medium is hard. I would say that the medium is hard. They're not the specific, you know, it's an overview. um just can't capture everything that everybody says um all the time. But yes, those stay on both websites. >> So live streaming on >> Yes, please. >> November done. Anything else?
