001here stacy stellar uh i do have some letters thank you letters from students that receive scholarships um i also have uh four requests for public input people that run into me here and then our next order business will be public um uh complaints or concerns with individual members of the board or administration those are not appropriate for public input um [Music] um [Music] good evening and gentlemen maybe it's time for us to find a source of agreement i would stipulate that the term crt has become the patrol phrase for what is a variety of social and documentation studies that are being taught in 99 of the schools in wisconsin that has been a statistic um i'm asking that you admit that when you say you are not teaching crt you are talking about an upper

002level college program you are writing behind the turn taking it literally we are smart enough to know what people are talking about don't try to help us kind of reminds me of the name brother who said he wasn't wrong he just made his withdrawal for the government we're talking about social engineering during school hours so some issues belong to parents as do [Music] the individual school districts so clearly you didn't consider the court to spend time on the class regarding toxic masculinity or not being a job this conscious and total honesty how about a list of the curriculum of reaching greater women in the schools that addresses equity you know we can always submit another open records request but truly if you believe this is so important why do you want to hide it's time

003you present your plans and parents and taxpayers who are questioning your characters are you tired of these contentious board meetings in the sense of the city answers to the questions we are asking not the self-serving comments the paper and on the news we are not or have we ever taught crt explain the presence of the root the need for it and the passport you feel that there's only a small minority of people me who regularly attend these meetings that we're the only ones who care about this so wrong teachers are afraid for their jobs they confide to us they do not like what they are being asked to do parents fear reprisal for their children if they publicly discuss things their students are coming home and telling don't make the students parents and teachers suffering

004silence nana tell us honestly what's going on maybe you will go away and please quit calling this racist um our next speaker will be gene wire of once again thanks very much for the time can you hear me [Music] all right so big picture what can we agree on it's been four months i think we can agree that excellence in education is what we're all looking for students achieving the highest level of their potential ability to get a job that they want when they're done at school unfortunately manitoba school scores are as measured by the state have declined over the past few years other schools in the area have not seen the same loss take a look take a look at menasha take a look at nina they're similar schools similar profile some of the

005match they have more of a challenge with limited english for students so if you agree excellence in education is our objective and how do we get there your answer seems to be to root consult the outside firm from milwaukee and if that's the case i think that i would like for board members to think about three questions here one what are the expected results what are the achievement deliverables that the group has said that they would be able to provide is there anything in the contract two when do we start seeing the results if that's what you're putting in is that in the contract three what success measurables did the group achieve with other clients they've been in business since 2014 according to their website they should have some successes they should have a background

006there that says yes this is a good fit for manitoba from the meeting minutes and then website i am really scared to prove that those deliverables are there that there's a deliverable in the contract look i know it's like another [Music] she knows she can she can figure out the fully lately loaded uh maybe you may want to think about reassessing your deduction let me go for a reset maybe you want to investigate what the other high achieving schools are doing and follow their lead bottom line let's do the right thing for the kids [Music] okay [Music] you are not totally honest when you insist that you are not teaching crt you run to the paper and declare that you are to never will but equity is teaching crt ideology equity is the mask of

007crt it is visible in the school board minutes curriculum committee minutes and personnel committee minutes stop trying to hide it we evidence group you have hired we're not at the have stupid manitoba citizens are not racist nor will be exuded by supremacy or halfway privilege what are the policies of a school built upon white supremacist ideas all of which you have to dig deep into to uncover you accuse our teachers of having racial biases for the reason for the school's failing grades or behavior crimes who are the racists here these same policies produce many years of smart successful adults today of different colors and ethnicities teachers don't discriminate against a young child because of the color of their skin or ethnicity or because of some white supremacist policy or personal bias you are the ones

008creating this excuse for your failures you are teaching children racism let me tell you my story just as luv and the equity and degradation in indoctrination groups insist you know every detail of their stories stories they think we need to know in order to be accepted by others or expect others to give them special lifelong attention and families for the rest of their lives i have lived and managed up my whole life i didn't have my privilege in my life my parents lived paycheck to paycheck i slept on our living room floor from real long through high school i started working when i was 14 years old and paid my way from nursing school when i was little my very best friend was latino and i didn't even know what lincoln's matter and she was

009my very very best friend [Music] they lived through hardships but found a way to pull themselves up and have heavy successful of all colors and ethnicities we live in a country where everyone is free and has equal opportunity is the best country in the world as you can tell by everyone wanting to live here and making a life here those of you not finding it to be that to take a good look at yourself instead of blaming others they have the same opportunity as everyone else it is the individual that makes choices in his or her life that determines how successfully will be it takes learning work and commitment of a successful life there is such pride and satisfaction in the job well [Music] has to come from you teachers should be telling you how

010special and unique they are and give them a sense of prominent self-confidence or that they can grow up to be whatever they want to be if they work hard how dare you want to fly people by race we are all equal your agenda is marxism and what you are doing is called indoctrination i'm just selecting a resident of the city of manitoba which i love fist uh the next speaker is [Music] good evening thank you for having me [Music] one of the things that i have noticed is that there is an obvious impasse because every meeting seems to involve the exact same frustrations by the speakers that we've already heard in the scene if i can use more [Music] so why do i think that the people that have already spoken think that critical race

011theory might be stuck into some of the other administrative tasks well first of all it's been done in other school districts the state and around the nation and it's always following us about the pattern then we have to have a piece of objective people have to admit could resemble what's happening here in other words there's a denial by the board that this is happening i'll take consultants [Music] and then there's also linguistic denials that [Music] to be [Music] we have some ideas but again when there's no information people fill in the gaps they just throw them in to fulfill their worst nightmares and they're of course used so what i did is i actually went on the roots website and i saw where i think a lot of the confusion is coming from first of

012all there's a section of the roots consulting cooperative and i encourage anyone to look it up first they have a section called our partners the partners logos the people that they have on our contractor that are working with scroll [Music] one of the things it says is we build capacity for racial justice and organizations that acknowledge their role in reproducing inequality and wants to do that we accomplish this role by developing structures routines and processes to disrupt white supremacy and enable racial justice so they are saying point out their goal is to address white supremacy [Music] participatory research assessment and evaluation related to work community climate organizational processes and program impact in doing so we honor human dignity challenge right supremacy and senator experiences that people will survive assistance oppression so i think by saying

013i will leave these words on the root website and the fact that everyone was commenting on this play can at least give people some positive questions i hope that one can at least acknowledge it and see where most of the anger and fear is coming from but i also want the people that are speaking to realize that the board needs to understand maybe more specifically some of the annual instead of what i call sometimes inflammatory relaxation thank you very much um the next speaker is [Music] is going to start off by saying simply that i totally support superintendent mark holzman and his work to ensure the students of mpst are educated as best possible no small task [Music] i do not support the disruptive and that is my adjective group calling themselves concerning the citizens

014of manchester county um as i've been listening to some of the board meetings one comment was made and said morals should be taught at home not in school i found that confusing um lying stealing physical violence should not be taught as wrong in school um okay here we go i'm addressing this to a couple board members i think you'll know who you are but i just i'll leave out the names um initially after the last election one of the members said we need reinforcements i found that combative right out of the gate um you found something on the minimum meaning agenda one of the things you objected to vague so you wouldn't attempt my suggestion is to seek clarity and not just boycott lastly this board member that's out in the media said we don't

015need to teach beliefs so please let me know about your campaign against school vouchers for parochial schools let's hear it for accurate history critical thinking and teach ourselves and children how to deal with their feelings lastly for those of you who did not register to speak if you agree with me and support my statement and our superintendent please stand in silence and thank you for listening um i'm here tonight with an urgent request to institute universal masking in psd schools until fovea19 vaccinations are widely available to children under the ages of cases management have ballooned in just a few short days likely due to the highly contagious delta variant just two weeks ago the seven day average of copenhagen cases in manitoba stood at four this past weekend it jumped to 15 with the stunning

01634 cases in a single day on august 4th manitoba county's new reported cases jumped 419 over the last weeks furthermore the current assassination of eligible age groups in the country as just 48 the number of children under the age of 12 in manchester county who have received 19 vaccination is exactly zero reputable medical organizations basically all of them have recommended that schools protect children through a layered approach universal lasting indoors three-foot social distancing and contact currency these recommendations come straight from the cec and the american academy of pediatrics dpi is strongly recommended that school districts require universal fasting regardless of vaccination status the manitoba county health department recently recommended that people should wear masks in public indoor settings regardless of vaccination status due to the high rate of spread detected in our county in-person learning

017during the high rate of spread is possible and is still the best setting for learning the american academy of pediatrics recently noted that the both party highlighted inequities in education and was detrimental to the educational attainment of students of all ages and exacerbated the mental health crisis among children and adolescents during the same high rate of spread in february of this year npsd successfully conducted in-person learning with a layered safety approach and kept transmission among students low you have already experientially proven that asking during high rates of community spread is a good formula for in-person learning during the pancake i changed that formula now i would feel confident in sending my children back to in-person learning with layered safety measures i don't think that families who want to protect their children from a dangerous virus

018should be forced into the virtual option i want my children in school but i want them to be sick and i want to know that proven and scientific measures have been put in place i recognize that some parents may not want their children to wear a mask during the school day and they are certainly welcome to enroll their children while there may be those in our community who don't want to acknowledge this alarming trend and behave as if the pandemic is over mpsu students are at risk the protective measures for students and teachers alike are simple and well defined by experts and this is not the time to leave protective measures out to individual choice in the health and well-being of these students teachers and their families is at stake it's the same as doing

019nothing and doing nothing would be willful and intentional negligence i am asking you as educators to set a good example for mpsd students by following the expertise of some of the best trained medical professionals in the world i'm asking you not to play politics and not to play covet roulette with the health of the children of our community please make a hard choice for the sake of my children and so many others [Music] good evening folks you can hear me okay all right so i haven't prepared any more remarks so this is kind of up but my wife is an expert at treating patients she works in spoiler she's been dealing with a year i'm a stay-at-home dad and i'll tell you a little bit about our situation so we um um i appreciate it

020if you would pay attention thank you our oldest experiment construction so uh i am an expert at being at a hospital so she was born with very severe uh lung disease um multiple surgeries um and we asked that this year you would inform us of what you're going to do so my wife sent a letter uh with the current aap recommendations and some we got some good responses and we got some other non-responses so as parents it's difficult for us to make a decision what to do we put our kids virtual this year or we keep that home so last year we were virtual it was very difficult for my business for the kids emotionally we wanted to be in school so it's up to this group here to make good decisions for us to

021ensure the health of our daughters and my son and as well as us so thank you very much okay thank you um [Music] good evening so i'm also going to talk about the mass and uh so i think uh the previous two speakers probably highlight the difficulty you guys can be faced with um you all go on i'll just start your you know you only have a child do anything to protect those kids i simply did that for my kids and you know i thought that you know using words and appealing to reason i would be helpful and in the end i realized that i'm not really fulfilling problems i do believe that the mass caused health problems more than what's offset by any uh study of them doing the spread uh and i believe

022that if we get to the point where we try to do the mass mandate in nature [Music] ends i think that you're in a very difficult situation and that there's information all over the place right you listen to the news and cdc hear one thing [Music] situation and somebody buys you're absolutely crazy [Applause] [Music] um thank you um for staying across you know sticking to it do not let people deter you do not let these fair tactics intimidate you you know these you can get any kind of faction i just want you all to know that i believe [Music] testimonies all right [Music] [Applause] is how they survive it is something that everybody should be scared change is focus on these teachers they're the ones that actually got so give them the chance [Music] [Applause]

023is all right first of all i just want to say thank you uh [Music] um i guess i just kind of want to say that you know is the school that i went to this is the school that i graduated from um and i don't think you know that linkedin for any school is ever perfect right um and i think that there's definitely room for growth and for change um you know when i was growing up i didn't learn about mexican history at all i'm not mexican and i didn't learn much about my culture or um it was sort of something that was seen as silly or as a children and i you know i think about myself as a teenager going to this school and i think about how you know there's going to

024be continuous and continuous classes of kids that are from different backgrounds different heritages different countries um and i think it's it's exceptionally important that they all get to learn about each other and about their family heritages and about our true history without that representation and without feeling that empowerment i i was a completely different person when i was in high school i would not be standing up here today and talking um and you can talk to my previous teachers about that they'll tell you the same thing but anyway what i'm trying to get out is that i wholeheartedly support any you know edi related efforts any efforts to teach kids more about different cultures more about their work more about different lived experiences that happen right here in manifold that's necessary and that's needed for

025us to fully understand and appreciate each other so thank you for any continued efforts at the end what they did wrong and [Applause] [Music] we'll move on to uh reports [Music] um [Music] uh [Music] all right um i have a very good report because you've already received the information but i'd like to start with uh the meaning of it which i'd like to um [Music] is [Music] uh um thank you [Music] seven inches of rain in mid-july cleanup is underway and repairs are being completed prior to starts we discussed the synergistics out of state training that christopher and richard peterson are requesting to attend in texas the end of september and the board will be voting to approve that later in the meeting thank you any questions um i was just wondering the recent rain

026did that i don't know the seven inches of july of the most recent that we have more damage has been fixed we've had two radiuses [Music] any discussion all in favor say aye okay [Music] yes we have um just for uh the approval of the vouchers and hero for the month um we have uh seven million dollars in accounts payable expenditures and then payroll and the amount um 1 487 and 92 cents so uh payrolls are a little bit lower um during their summer months since you're not paying teachers at that time so that's [Music] department will be choice all right um there was a personal report that was included in the original packet on friday last week and thank you for your understanding we had an agenda uh earlier this evening and i believe

027laurie also put um if anyone has any questions um [Music] it certainly is not our intent to do that but please understand and recognize that this time of year um in preparation to start a school year there was still [Music] is uh [Music] this [Music] you know we're supposed to normally by these meetings if there is an issue i'd like to hear it other than you know and um i just really you know think we should we should be the original personnel report was and honestly today made two additional offers to teachers having more approval that we wanted to get on the report so that the conditioning is approved that is um to the board members um i think that that would be again i understand the reasoning behind it i'm just wondering if we

028could just use that time to brainstorm maybe some [Music] this [Music] okay yes [Music] yeah we need to have a teacher in the classroom that is quite different for our students um this was down to just effective following what we're here to do [Music] i'm glad that you were able to get this done so i'm giving you the credit but at the same time i do want to know what it is that i'm proving otherwise i can't do my job [Music] um [Music] um [Music] and that's that's a challenge but again i'll bring up separately so that we can prove it go ahead ps4 uh you know maybe something for the person on the board you know before the hiring process begins there's something along those lines that may be a little easier or better

029um sure i'll leave it up to the first time um [Music] um any further discussion all in favor say hi okay um that is it uh then the next thing is i'll turn this over to superintendent recognition of our board council yes thank you um [Music] our awards council we have two services that we use on a private service meeting that if we need them we have a contract [Music] we use is specifically special education law prior to last year was with davis and we have been with that individual for decades so there's no change to something that we generally inform the board about because at some point the board uh receives counsel um davis is the individual that we work with there and he would work with the board in that specific case we

030had a student explosion previously if they would work with the board if we're talking about something in closed session contract so do they both specialize in something different or is it um i guess the so um generally the better we use one specific attorney and she is [Music] is us for myself specifically in contract employment relations and um or any needs that's why we have two different expertise [Music] um yes good evening i'm sure you get an opportunity to review the seclusion and restraint report um i've provided you with some information about the required reporting some definitions and also when solution or restraint can be used along with some numbers of course given the pandemic and some distance learning our numbers look very different than past years because students were as often as they were

031i'd be happy to answer any questions you may have after um reviewing that information um um so i had three questions uh one first question was why there were so many um [Music] would be power restraining the kids um just exactly what takes place you know what exactly takes place when the kids get restrained i guess that our parents involved or notified when that takes place and then are there other [Music] types of activities that could be maybe either used and thanks for your questions we have a process called non-violent crisis intervention training and we have people trained in every building what i love about that non-violent crisis intervention training is that the majority of the training is about how to prevent ever getting into a circumstance where someone is a danger to themselves or

032others and so part of that training is things like when you're asking what other things take place for example um what signs you might watch for when someone's becoming agitated what other steps you could take uh to avoid someone having their behavior rise to the situation that they are endangers themselves or others um we absolutely have opportunities for staff members to learn about approaches to student behavior management that would be something other than uh choosing super restraint we really would prefer for us to have our number zero in the circumstance and in the rare circumstances where someone is truly a danger to themselves or others um they may need that seclusion and or restraint in those cases um staff are mandated to follow the restrained procedures that they are taught in non-violent crisis intervention training

033so that's a at least a full day training and they are taught specific ways to do that in a way that is the safest possible through the cpi crisis prevention institute parents are always notified uh we have a forum that we utilize that um helps principals and staff members walk through everything that is required of them including us following some very specific regulations about how quickly parents will be notified they are also given a copy of any of her court that is you know filled out everyone's always her report the report always goes to the families and always goes to me um principals also keep a copy in their office we absolutely would debrief also after the incident so that we could talk about how to avoid this happening again there are other processes involved

034that in fact people who normally know that i could probably lean to my feet and give you a little our professional development on this topic it's something that um for the last eight years you ask about differences in numbers moving back over the last several years you would see differences in numbers as the years go by and really the easiest way that that is often explained um is that it really just depends upon what is happening with students at that time you know on the first page of this report one of the pieces of information you have is about how many students are involved and sometimes there is a student who is really struggling with something and sometimes that raising numbers could be a single student um other times there may be more than one

035student who is in this situation that they are a danger to themselves or others that there's an imminent danger and something needs to to take buildings um just um just this week on monday and i spoke briefly to our principals about uh solution and restraint and that will not be the first time they hear from me we also speak to our special education teachers and school counselors um during the teaching week i mentioned more than you ask but during your teacher week we also train 100 of our new special education teachers and people services staff members would be counselors and such um in that nonviolent crisis intervention with an emphasis on us avoiding needing to use a significant restraining portion of that training i think i got to the questions that you asked if i'd

036be happy to answer any others and how many [Music] is [Applause] um my secretary runs for me on a quarterly basis all of these numbers and i review them so that if i do notice a spike because although i review every single form that comes to me there's several pages long um i'm looking at those numbers that i have sometimes that needed to reach out and ask more questions about a circumstance in addition to that when you're thinking about what is it a student who might have a repeat situation there are some requirements that um by the way this could be a student in general education or a student with an iep and either way there are by the second time that someone has a solution or restraint incident there is a requirement that we

037look at what is called the function of that behavior so there's a process that we say why is this happening and that we um develop a behavior improvement plan and so then each time it's happening after that they're looking back at that functional behavioral assessment and that behavior and um the family's involved in that uh discussion as it goes on so we're we're wanting to you know look at what we're doing and change and tweak if we need to so that we are in all cases avoiding any of these circumstances whenever possible really hard for me to answer what my sense is about how often it is a repeat situation um because over these last eight years that has really it has changed depending there's so yeah i was wondering do we does each school

038have a seclusion room is each school level so um first off i want people to know that seclusion could take place in any any room that would be a safe location for someone to need to be secluded we would want to be smart about what is available in that room so an example as a principal might be that while i was when i was in principal perhaps i had a student who got escalated [Music] if as long as there wasn't something inside that room that someone really lost some damage so any space could be moving because sometimes what's occurring is through this pandemic and in the school year i don't believe anybody has made a shift to any use of space but each of our buildings has some kind of space that when that is

039and yes the reason i'm giving you the 98 sure is just because of the start of the square i'd be happy to double check that there isn't any changes but i'm quite sure that our school buildings each have that dedicated the rest of the class was approved and brought to the library is that something that we notify the other parents of or is or would that have been considered situation and if so do the other the board the definition of seclusion is there and um sometimes there is a student who is being uncooperative in some way and perhaps making it difficult for other people to learn and because instead of doing you know something to need to move that student we just need to get everybody else out in some cases it might not be

040the definition of seclusion so say for example the student is sitting at the desk making extremely loud voices and we've done all we can think of to have that student done and they're doing that in a way that you could choose um so then that would probably either be a seclusion that everyone went to the library today we finished our story in the library because so if someone was really in a situation where they were doing something maybe students needed to be removed because of that dangerous circumstance i would expect that people are calling home um i i cannot guarantee over several sites that every single teacher every single person in that circumstance would do exactly that that would be my expectation i wouldn't want anyone to have witnessed something that um they might need

041to discuss at any age is there any advice here i guess with is to other gods of dangerous situations yeah um i know that that is a part of the training that we provide through the crisis that interventions yeah there's a there's a training coming up on new teacher week on friday yes and then throughout the year other people might need to be trained and so through that there is some discussion about what indeed is considered and remember the definition here we might call it the third issue paragraph they need to their behavior needs to present a clear present and imminent risk to the physical safety of the student or others and it needs to be the least restrictive intervention possible and so um during that training i'll give an example you might have a

042student who is somewhat feebly kicking their feet of just as one example there are many examples um mr daniels [Music] okay thank you very much [Music] that are in place and conversations that i've been having with our local hospital one thing that i would articulate likely is that the decision to either require or recommend masks is likely the only protocol that probably is in the debate at this time we definitely will continue to use sanitization we definitely will uh continue to provide um feedback to families with positive cases nursing team that's going to continue to use our mitigation strategies at the end of so i think the conversation uh is is twofold i think that the first piece of that conversation would be to look at our recommendations from our health officials and to try

043to determine what's best for our district in addition to that we want to look at our local health data to determine are there increases in our health for our students and our staff and then finally i think uh i know that we have to be prepared to pivot at any time one thing that i know [Music] that i would say last year we spent a lot of time creating i thought at the time in november was a very very well thought out criteria to return and what we found out was that likely that criteria that we use at the time was very good but when we were looking at it in january and february we kind of realized that we needed to make some adjustments in order to return so i think we want to

044use guidelines and i think we have to be ready to pivot based on the needs of our community and our health um the the challenge of making changes in pivoting uh definitely ask any questions about what our thoughts are today and where we are at my recommendation as i said today would be to not make a final requirement on august 10th um we do know that um [Music] if we did that so i'll pause there and take any [Music] um would it be possible to request that um the parents they would receive the survey just to kind of see what they feel on that foundation to kind of get down involved provide feedback i think that that can be fair i think there's always opportunities to ask for feedback i think the question that i

045want to ask is that if the parents [Music] or i do think that there's opportunities there for a survey you know through our infinite campus etc etc and again i guess i would say that [Music] my goal is to not go virtual level so we have to be aware that even if we do decide to take me back and make a decision one reason why we would have to change is and then we just have to know that we may have to change that decision one way or the other based on where our health [Music] isn't going but into this as we may have done previously right um we're i understand there are people out there that wants to make a decision right now i'm not willing to do that right because i don't know

046what next week i think that's one of the things we found out since march last year is this is a fluid situation and it can be very different next week than it is today and then of course you have um higher powers right making decisions for you and we don't know how that will occur but yeah i mean i agree i don't want to push this immediately and i want to collect information and it may be that we may need to wait until let's say office 30 and i understand that not everybody will like the fact that we didn't make a decision sooner but i think we can make a better decision um the struggle right now is that um parents have to make these decisions now they can't just tell their child three days

047before i'm sorry um and i think that's partially where that struggle is so i guess part of it is i would tell you that there's space in our virtual learning model right now but i would also tell you that the enrollment is significantly different than what it was in the past so mckinley academy is a charter school that has a school number and an enrollment system that we can move kids in but it definitely is a commitment [Music] typically markers that's a great challenge um so we know that we can work through i mean we have kids prior to extended periods of time we do have some technology that so i think like i said i think we're fluent there but we're able to do something any other questions previously i requested uh the raw

048data from superintendent and i was wondering if we were going to be expecting this presentation any time the information as far [Music] those questions [Music] you know for are you interested in coming back virtual or not virtual that's different than the parent engaging survey yeah i just want to make a comment um just in support of holding study on what we're going to do now and waiting i think it's logical and um so i support that decision for us to not make a decision tonight last year in july i met as a board and you heard our presentation for two learning mods and we worked with those learning models and then in october we decided that uh a change based on the health of our student staff and community and then back in december the

049board voted to approve the administration the authority to make a decision on what our model um [Music] and then the board voted in december [Music] and so i just want you to think through that um the next scheduled core meeting i think we'll talk about that our typical schedule would be the 24th at noon if we follow our protocols and we have our teachers coming back on the 24th that day and then our students the following week so we definitely have to give feedback at the latest at that point and so i just want to be looking for the opportunity without always have an opportunity to meet on a weekly basis from the public health department and i guess what i would articulate at this point is there's two things i want the board to

050consider first is that we are not going to likely hear any information that from the public health department our local health department or pediatricians or doctors we should not try to mitigate [Music] in addition to that there is i shared with you a federal order that stays in place right now and says that all students and [Music] that's a adults report again i don't recommend us not following federal orders but we get to decide on how we're going to handle that so those are the two pieces that we have in front of us the [Music] so i just want you to think through that a little bit the last piece that i would say conversations with other school superintendents or i would just say this if as a district we strongly recommend something i would

051ask that then all the leaders have to follow that [Music] so if we are saying that we strongly recommend something but we don't require that would deem us to look at fear [Music] something just points to the connor a little bit if you wanted to get your feedback you know feel free to connect with me but those are really the two topics that we have in front of us and i'm happy to kind of wait a little bit as we look at the community and if we continue health see that maybe that um [Music] so i think that's something we should consider um the other thing that we've never considered is perhaps before masking in place and then lifting it at the end [Music] yeah i i say that because i can provide you if

052you'd like some local medical professionals and how they have a different perspective on masks if we're going to say that they're on this stage about whether or not masks are effective or not because we can all find research that says they are and we can find research that says they're not i would ask two things one if we are going to make any kind of decision i would like us to discuss that prior to it happening uh rather than be something that is uh [Music] allowing the parents to decide what is best for their child that we do a lot and we say if you're sick don't come to school and that we offer that and and and that you are allowed to wear a mask at school at any time that you want and

053if your parent wants you to wear a mask so i would ask that we trust our parents to make that decision and i would also ask that we not argue about the science but if that's going to be used then i'm happy to provide information from our local doctors and um exactly [Music] okay just uh obviously an opportunity for more members to ask questions that might have been brought up in the director's report any questions [Music] and again um new to me so i appreciate the detail um and i like getting that details i appreciate it for taking the time to write the director's reports the last piece is just giving you some activity updates um as we know um tomorrow and wednesday and thursday we have a number of teacher leaders heading out to

054uw green bay and to our campus professional development specifically working with our teaching and learning group so we're excited about those opportunities next week and monday our new teachers will be returning to school with their mentors we have mentor training today and is able to say hi to those veteran folks who are helping out our new teachers the board members uh are invited to lunch if you have time for the next week wednesday at noon network view again just an opportunity to meet our group staff and uh in addition to that if you drive by some of our middle schools and high schools you start to see fall activities going on so we have a number of athletes who are participating this week more of them in china next week marching band camp is underway

055or beginning to be underway soon and so we will typically have over 500 kids who are participating in something prior to the first day of school and it's really great so um if you stop by take a look at that uh the last piece would be the week of the 23rd our all of our staff will come back on the um which is thursday afternoon uh we have a scheduled uh local back underground field where we do some fun activities uh [Music] i'm excited and i will continue to tell you that uh secretary of the main office continues to register kids on a daily basis in august and registered kids for school yeah so we see more virtual enrollment in our high school that we do in our elementary school definitely [Music] um you know

056i think first of all the structure is but we're excited about getting started we're excited about seeing them it is amazing the energy that our students bring to our schools and looking forward to any other questions thank you then we'll move on to the new business the first item [Music] um [Music] just a couple of phrases that are in there um under procedures on page one number one where we missed two high priority goals i think that's a good redundant high priority um but now we have to give the superintendent means to meet those right if we don't is [Music] a high priority right here and one the superintendent selects as an equally important goal and it doesn't mean that there are no other goals it just means that that will be the focus all

057right uh saying their priority already raises the level of reports you know we don't need to make them high quality and if we're going to then um [Music] um deal with a bigger issue and put the evaluation off because we're gonna have it by this time period of time uh so i thought maybe we should discuss this now and [Music] we don't need to you know so it's a draft if you want to rewrite it fine i'm okay with it is but we're not concerned that i'm suggesting [Music] it's not a policy it's just a document we're using so you know you can approve it and then two months from now you'd say well maybe we should you can do that it's not policy is [Music] um is much easier to make changes is and

058i think that that leaves us some uh some legal ways and flexibility on well implementing the policy you know maybe better maybe i don't i don't know uh [Music] is yeah i guess [Music] a fair and appropriate process and i think that uh if somebody says oh my god this isn't fair or no i think we should we should do this we shouldn't give the system but [Music] yes [Music] address [Music] so [Music] is [Music] um [Music] is all right okay diamond right the type of scoresheet you know has choices on it to one man which i think is one two three oh yeah yeah i think we could we could adapt [Music] the personnel committee was in favor of having an additional counsel that would be a person who would serve a number of

059different different schools so joyce do you want do you want to take the ball here yes thank you and i certainly can um there's a document that is included was included um talking about basically the line what and how we feel there's a need to add a school counselor to your district so you've got that document in front of you including some data some numbers i guess i would just ask if there's any questions [Music] any questions okay you can do that you can move and then you just need thank you [Music] um it has been requested that the chris dupree and mr peterson have requested to go to summer justice training in texas in [Music] training okay so our committee voted unanimously to bring that forward to the forward and forth for the onstage

060okay oh sure the september date is when i would be going [Music] the day um he took the position but we couldn't get that to the board in time so we we don't know what he will be said originally approved our future meeting days just for our committees first um okay and then what about budget finance meeting after the special meeting before our next meeting personnel okay and then and then our next meeting game uh marlin would be tuesday august 24th i would i would ask if there's a need for them do we have consensus that we should meet on the 24th we giving autonomy for um 24th okay all right and we'll meet our next meeting will be tuesday august 24th of noon um in in our original place um at the board office

061otherwise second all in favor say aye hi thank you [Music]
