001Community School District on December 15, 2025. It is uh Let's rise for the pledge of >> allegiance. I alian to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. This meeting has been >> I'm sorry, doctor. I'm We're going to start with the community forum first. >> I turned my >> That's all right. I know. >> That's okay. >> Even as I was doing it, I thought I did something for Yes. Community forum. I don't have the >> Oh, I'm sorry. I'll go grab >> anybody. >> I think we'll stare at stare at Dan. >> If Dan signed, >> Dan, do you have anything you would like to share? >> Okay. He has signed

002up. >> Okay. >> Merry Christmas. >> Thank you, dear. >> All right. Okay. >> We actually need to wait a couple. >> We know we have to wait till 65. Yep. Okay. >> Be there for that with our agenda this evening. This uh meeting has been posted in all the appropriate places and we are moving on to approval of our agenda for this evening. >> Will we approve the agenda as presented? A second. >> We have a motion in a second. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Same sign. >> Yes. All right. Next, we have the approval our consent agenda items, including the approval of the minutes, the approval of the financial report bill, listing and donations, and approval of personnel actions. >> Do I have a motion?

003>> A motion to do second. >> I have a motion and a second. Any discussion? Seeing no discussion, all in favor, please say I. >> I. >> Oppose. Same sign. We are moving on then. Thank you for that. Two delegations to be heard. >> No one has signed in. >> Nobody has signed up. Dan, do you have anything to say? No. Dan's not a delegation either. Okay. We're moving on, which brings us to the administrator. >> Administrator's report. So, well, thanks everybody for being here this evening. Uh, open records. Actually, no open records for the uh for for the month and then uh for no donations either this month either too as well. So, um, couple things. Well, I wanted to start with and then I'll get to our our taxes here in a second.

004But, uh, I also have included a couple updates. I just wanted to with the, uh, with the board again. I know last month we did talk about the, uh, the intermediate school library remodel and just kind of wanted to give and you'll see in there we have a little report. We did walk through four different contractors. Uh, we have four different furniture ven vendors who are uh, working on our proposal too as well. And you'll also see in there though too, we did ask again, we always wanted to and one of the pieces of feedback we we really want to continue to take on is is that idea of is is that collaboration and what other things are we missing. So we did ask, you'll see a summary of uh what the kids said uh

005some interesting things in there and then ultimately some of some of the feedback that our staff gave us too as well. So um we continue to put those things together, especially as we think about uh the uh the furniture and the functionality of the proposed library project there too as well. Um from a contractor standpoint, we have given uh individual contractors till January 14th to give us their proposal. Uh from there, uh that does give uh basically Mr. Zer and I an opportunity to really go through those ask more questions making sure that we do truly have an applesto apples comparison. So um we continue to bring some uh contractors through and particularly in the area of the HVAC. um as when we have when we're demoing those two rooms, they are two separate and

006we are looking to probably bring in just one main unit there. Um and uh going to the crawl space that we have which used to be a classroom downstairs. So down below um so if any of you are interested in that tour someday I'll we'll we'll go down there. So but uh nothing real fascinating. So just wanted to give the board a memo of the update there too as well. Um it also is that opportunity now where we uh and again in the fall we we survey our our students, our staff as well as our families. So um school perceptions just uh was able to kind of compile things and um in the in the last few days um what you see in front of you is a report from our staff survey. So the

007staff survey I'm very pleased that uh we did take the feedback and again one of our board goals was to increase participation and we have 91 participants. So a year ago we had about 7870. So um by giving some designated time on a professional development day seems like we got a much better response rate there too as well. >> 91 or 81%. >> 81%. Yep. Correct. So we had 91 respondents. So uh very pleased with that too as well. Um so you can see obviously you got the executive summary and uh the details too with some breakouts of the questions and what you'll also see in there is is a longitudinal look. So we first started in 2003 2004 and then obviously 2020 uh 2024 23 and 25. So um uh and again what we're

008going to do with this obviously from an administrative team we take a look at the the big pieces but then ultimately we do give uh the detailed breakouts of the primary school and the intermediate school and give that to our building leadership and then they you know work through it with their teams and and see what we can do. Um I guess if I were to summarize uh you know and Dr. Dr. I'm going to beat you to it. It's like because usually you say what do you do with this information uh in things. Um the three areas that I see where we kind of can got to continue to improve on is is that communication um to our staff um is something that again we can we can continue to lean on getting them

009at the proper time because there seems to be a um some some feedback around that uh that we need to continue to do that. I think time overall time for our staff. Um, as we know, education is a very busy career and a busy profession. Um, we continue to lean on our educators to do great things and they, uh, are just kind of talking a little bit more about just time in general and about what we can do to support that too as well. And finally, the third takeaway that I would take from here is is the student support. Um, the one of the lower areas is our school disciplinary practices. So, we need to continue in that student service area. uh to continue to make sure that people feel that uh when there are

010uh students who are are disruptive or that need to be uh redirected that our staff feels that what we're doing is working in in all the different phases whether it's regular ed or special ed uh to continue to to support there too as well. So those are kind of the three things that we want to continue to work through and again obviously we we work with our building leadership teams and our building leadership to uh to kind of try to make that forward. You know the this idea of time is a district level thing. it's about how we want to spend our professional development time, our Wednesday meetings. Um so again, just continuing to coordinate um all of those different pieces knowing that there's a lot coming at us uh every day and again there's

011a lot coming at our educators every day too as well. Um so that's kind of our three improvement areas. The one piece I would see as as a really strength for our district that seems to be consistent is is the support that we give our staff. um the the feeling that a they have the necessary resources, they have a very strong team, they uh they feel that they go to administration and they feel that they're supported um and just are are able to hopefully do what they need to do and hopefully we can deflect some of those things that might be getting in the way and things like that. So, um I think that support seems to be really strong is what we're hearing from too. So, um you know, just some things we want

012to continue to work on and focus on and uh from a building, each building is a little bit unique, too. So those building leaders will will take a look and see what we can do with that. >> So to something like employee morale didn't change a lot from last year, but it's still not as high as we'd like to see. What factors do you attribute to what are people considering in employee morale? >> Well, I I I think it's well a couple things. One, when we take do take a look at their their environment, I think is as we try to again their environment is is is positive. you know, Merton schools provide a comfortable work environment. Um, you know, yet morale is down. You know, we put a new compensation system in. And again,

013I was a little bit because last year we heard about compensation, compensation, compensation. And I think that morale thing is one of those things we got to continue to dig into a little bit. And I don't know if it's just about um, you know, whether it's a student discipline that we need to move on. Um, when we take a look at that recommendation, you know, the recommendation is right around that 50% mark nationally. when we take a look at that. Um, you know, I I I would like to hope too that those the morale, you know, how could we increase by giving them a little more time potentially to kind of help with that morale, too. But, um, I I think it's working with our our staff and seeing what it is that we can

014do. uh recognition something that they you know comes through especially when you take a look at some of that stuff is is how do we continue to recognize people um and while at the same time hold people accountable because I know that's another factor into people about really trying to boost morale is by holding people accountable when they feel that people need to be lifted up a little bit too. So >> what kind of systems do we have for collecting this seems like something that qualitative data would tell you more about since you've got the number there but it doesn't tell you what's in the number. Do we have any means of collecting more detailed ideas and would people tell us if we asked? >> Well, I think when you take a look at the

015the qualitative comments, you know, they they you know, they did give us some feedback and that was one of the things we'll continue to go through. Um very just kind of general things I think it when it comes down to is time is a big one. Disciplinary practices when you talk about because there's one question in there is if you were the school board or the superintendent, what would you say? So, um, by just kind of taking a look at some of that stuff and synthesizing it and saying, "Okay, what are some really easy leverage points and what opportunities do we have?" Um, and I think that would be one of the biggest things that we hear is time and how can we, you know, knowing that time is, you know, between either 8:00 and

0164:00 or whatever people's times is how do we get that work life balance going too as well. So, but again, some things that we can continue to dig through um in those individual comments for sure. >> And uh the information information important to my work is shared with me in a timely and effective manner. We're not moving as much there as I'd like to see. So, what do we think's going on there? >> I really don't know. Uh that's a really good question because I know when we talk about communication in general, um you know, our building principles give out a weekly update. Bob, I'm just going to highlight Bob. Bob gives out a midweek update. Um, one of the pieces that we we heard feedback on was is we need to get the professional

017development agendas out sooner and after talking to people it was all about can you give us a week's notice Maria is always so we move to that commitment for one week's notice. Um, just trying to get out as much information as we can. Um, I think sometimes it's too it's we we don't want to we want to overcommunicate but sometimes we overwhelm people. >> Yes. um as well there too >> because I always certainly can lose just send an email today that said I every time I step away from my desk there's a hundred new emails I missed it when I was going through from >> right >> so there needs to be a balance between what it is we see how it is gathered together I from the community standpoint I think sending out

018that district update with everything in it has made a big difference and I don't know to what extent that works in uh like threading staff communications so that you don't just not see it one day in your flood >> well it's it's interesting that uh when when Bob came in uh and again I just and Bob's in the room so it's not like I'm not saying anything. Um he really tightened his communication up. Some people liked it, some people didn't. I mean because Bob structure is very similar to yours. Let's let's have touch points right on Tuesday. Bob, do you send your midweek out or Tuesday or Wednesday? >> Uh usually Tuesday. >> Tuesday. So Bob sends one out Tuesday and Friday, you know, just as kind of kind of a reminder. and he truly

019funnels because people have communicated why can't I just send an email to the staff well because Bob would tell you is is we don't want to flood people's emails we want people to go to one point of entry truly so um we'll continue to to to balance that out but I think people we do want people to get the communication and I I guess we would feel qualitatively that we are sharing as much information as we can with folks on a timely basis But obviously they're not feeling that way. So >> and then I have one more point if everybody else doesn't mind. Uh we have moved up and I feel genuinely appreciated by the school board but we're still at 65%. So I'd be interested in any insights into what is what feeling appreciated

020by the school board looks like so that we can if we don't know something we could be doing uh I would like to know how to improve that. I don't have a lot of insight on how to make that happen better. I don't know if other people had that question or >> I I I was actually I looked at the two low scores and they were student discipline and appreciation by the board. You know, speaking for myself, I appre you know, the short time I've been here just through the observation and uh conversations I've had with the people sitting in the room here. Um I have a great appreciation for what the teachers are doing here. You have people with a wealth of experience like Heidi all the way down to people who are brand

021new and um you know I'm I'm even hearing out in the community from you know a mother of a young lady who just got hired here recently and was just loving working here. Um teaching is not just a profession, it's a vocation and uh you definitely don't get paid what you should be getting paid. Um Heidi's more than three decades and she's retiring at a pay that some people would not start a job for, you know, and and that's uh absolutely disgusting. But uh I have the utmost appreciation just in the nine months uh when I walk through the hallways, kids are happy, kids are learning, kids are working together, and uh you know, when we get to see the uh the children perform, they're joyful and they do an outstanding job. So, uh, and

022I think everyone else on this board feels the same way. You know, we may have differing opinions on certain things, but I think, uh, our community is very fortunate with the staff that we have. Um, you've been, as far as I'm concerned with me, very communicative. Uh, whenever I've had a question, it's been answered. Um, the only thing I think with the student discipline is as a board, you know, we obviously cannot enforce it. I think discipline unfortunately gets some too many connotations that are negative. Uh but without self-discipline you can't learn. Without self-discipline you can't, you know, you're going to you're just not going to be a success in any facet of life. But uh what we can do as a board is probably look at the handbook uh and based on what you

023guys say is needed make changes. um because we're not sitting in the classroom, you know, we're not here on a daily basis. Even though there were some comments and suggestions that board members should sit in and see what teachers do. I think observation is wonderful. Um but I'm one of those people where uh I trust in people who are uh going to do their job and they're going to do it well. And if not, there's enough supervisory roles and here at Merin, I think that that would come to the four very very quickly. But uh yeah, I'd love to be able to sit in a school and learn some new stuff myself, but uh I think uh we're blessed with the people that we have sitting inside these walls. So, and I read that a

024little less is that they thought it would make a difference in policy, but that in the considerations that we would see what a classroom in 2025 looks like and that type of thing. So, I didn't see it as they should come in and say so they can change their policies. I did see it as a >> they may not think that our conversation reflects their working >> Right. Right. And but again, Bob and Steve, you could perhaps give us more information about what you think might be meant by that. And not necessarily tonight, but at some point, I'd be interested in hearing how you think your staff would feel more appreciated by the school board and what may go into that because that's a I'd like to see the number going up. I'd like to

025see it go up further >> because that was probably one of our biggest gates. >> It was in that appreciation. >> I'm happy >> and happy. But I'd like more than twothirds of people to believe that their school board appreciates them. >> Yeah. The the one right above it though continues to move to the trust factor obviously and that's kind of trusting in the work that that you guys are doing and um and again it kind of going back to this idea of appreciation. I mean, that's been something that we've we've tried to do, too. And uh sometimes the needle doesn't as long as we are we're we're moving the needle and we're not stopping to not like being satisfied with, oh, we got two/3, you know, but >> well, it's the difference between those

026two numbers that I think is telling it's not a huge difference. There's a 13% difference there, presuming everybody answered both questions. That's a there there's trust in one place, but people aren't feeling as appreciated. I do wonder if it's do you know what our daily lives are like here as you're making said decisions. >> So, and this is me reading into the data and we know that you really can't do that very well. >> And and I also think though too is is we continue to and and just we don't work in isolation. It's not our administrative team trying to develop these policies and things like that. I mean I mean we're we're continuing to work towards our our AI policy, right? Whether it be students or staff. uh Maria and her team are putting

027on an activity this this Wednesday that are going to help us kind of shape some of those policies about how they're feeling, where they're at, because we know that's policy is going to continue to move as we move forward. But uh again the opportunities and the appreciation I think was greatly seen by uh the staff when we had 25 members probably 25 30 people came to our last uh meet and confer session >> and uh which is great to see and things and there was a lot of passion in there and and the board responded. So, I think just those little things, but again, I think it can be certainly when we start to take a look at, you know, kind of micro it down a little bit from the building level uh to see

028how we can continue to move that needle. Absolutely. >> So, if you gain any insight there, I'd love to hear >> Yes. When I taught and this this is sound like I'm not a board, but it's not, but I taught for 18 years and I probably in my 18 years of teaching probably six or 16 of them. I had no idea who the board members were. I mean, so I wouldn't even really know how to answer the question because I didn't even pay attention to the board. Somebody's >> right, >> did my day-to-day, you know, kinds of things taught and registration or whatever. But >> some in some way they talk about a board being like a referee, right? When you're doing your job, nobody really paying attention. But like I have no idea. I'm

029not sure if I have a whole lot to be that I was just trying to think if I was a teacher sometimes how would I answer that I'm like I don't know if they push me I don't really even I don't know they do >> were you in a big >> now obviously but you know when I was a teacher I didn't really follow much about school boards >> were you in a bigger district than this because I think the size of our district we are >> so care or so in that respect Yes, >> we were on six. >> Yeah, to your point too, there was like 30% said, uh, doesn't really bother me either way. But, uh, >> Yeah, it's in a smaller district when people see each other much more, >> it's

030>> Yeah, it's different. It is. I mean, that's why there isn't a a national question on it. And that's why that was something that was really specific to uh but it was important for us to find out so we can continue to be responsive and and hear those little things too. So yeah, we appreciate everybody's efforts. Certainly. >> Okay. >> You had a question. >> I was just going to ask about the question. I'm recognized when I do a good job. Um I would just be curious to know how do we recognize staff members? Yeah, it starts a little bit over here. Do >> you guys want to highlight that or do you want me to >> go ahead? Yeah. >> Yeah. One of the things, one of the simple things that we do in

031our newsletter, staff has opportunity to do a shout out of staff and those are published in our newsletter. So that's a pretty regular piece that ongoing when I meet with kind of a newer practice, but after I meet with teachers on like an observation, I'll ask them is there someone I should be recognizing right now who's like we'll follow up with follow up that individual. So there's like informal things that we do with that. when I talked to my value team like when I for students they were a little reluctant to do something for each other for staff but I do think one of the things that's important is every morning every day I walk around just talking to people whe small as far as being able to celebrate little things whatever that school things

032personal things just but it's something we've had conversations around within our value team figure what's what's what's the right way what's the way to do that where people feel comfortable >> because we've done things MVPs for our staff too um worked for a little while I mean people the website >> different staff cultures are are very different in that way having been at you know multiple districts over the years some places have very formalized recognition and others are a lot more subtle. Uh they don't they don't want something, you know, what would I say some big tangible kind of a thing. They tend to like, as you just said, more of a face-toface kind of a thing. >> Thank you. >> Good to hear. Thank you. Um, the final thing I know that was kind

033of talked about before was is tax bills came out this past month and things and uh uh depending on which municipality you live in um you would have uh experienced a different impact. So, and I would uh if if people are really curious is to go back to um all of our budget conversations. It starts in May when we approve a preliminary budget. Um then it gets to September where we have the annual meeting and that's where uh a ton of school finance is discussed and it really takes a look at what's happening within our community to cause um when we take a look at the levy uh because our levy is is how much we need to fill from the revenue limit on what our taxpayers are going to be paying for. And um

034as we know our community continues to grow uh that means we have more students. Um the other piece is is per the state budget this past year um we did not get any new tax um or any new tax breaks uh in property taxes from the state. This is the first budget in a long long long time where there was no money given to offset school um funding increases uh per the $325 per student um for each this year and next year. um that increase when you are increasing in students and that entire increase goes on to the local property taxpayers. Now again as you are watching our annual meetings and our our our budget meetings um you'll notice that the mill rate though did drop by about 3 cents. Okay. Um remember though the

035mill rate though is something that is not equal to each and every home in each and every municipality. Um, for example, I know the village of Lisbon this past year was reassessed, but at the same time, um, they saw the greatest net new construction. So, they had much more property wealth that was increased compared to the village of Mertin and the town of Merin. So, there is a lot more property wealth out of the village of Lisbon compared to the village of Merin and the town of Merin. So the proportions are really starting to sway more towards the village of Lisbon. The school the school funding formula again is all based on property value and if one municipality has a greater percentage of the total wealth of the district, they are going to pay more

036of the bill. Um I talked to a couple village of Lisbon residents. Uh no connection here. Um, and they called and just said, "Hey, can you tell me why my tax bill went up 10 12%." Where if I'm digging, you should have went down. And and I was like, "Well, let's pull out your tax bill." And so we would look at their tax bill and say, "Oh, you're the village of Lisbon. Here's what happened compared to the village of Merin." And I pull my tax bill out and it went up $10. So basically a 0% inc negligible increase compared to the village of Lisbon where that's where a a lot more of the uh the pie gets delivered over to the village of Lisbon. So not all taxpayers are created equally. It all depends on

037your assessed value. Um but unfortunately the village of Lisbon I didn't hear from the town or the village because that means things were pretty well set there from there too. So, um, again, I would encourage everybody to continue to be involved. Next year's budget is going to be very similar as we continue to increase in property wealth and particularly in the village of Lisbon. Um, but at the same time, we are getting a $325 increase. Again, that solely goes on to the taxpayers with no property tax relief, uh, unless something changes within the budget. So, um, this is something that we continue to kind of have to, you know, communicate with. The other piece, too, is when we take a look at our levy, our levy went up too. When we take a look at

038some of those things outside of the revenue limits, the voucher, um, from our our voucher schools, that allocation went up about 75 $80,000 as well. So, um, every little bit begins to count, but unfortunately, some municipalities take more of that burden on because of the increase in property wealth, too. So, um, again, I encourage everybody to give me a call and we'll gladly sit down and work through your tax bill, which I have with some people, but, uh, it's a it's a crazy thing. School funding certainly is. >> Ron does a great explanation of this both at our meeting, our September meeting. So, if you're looking for which dates to look back to September meeting and I think our October meeting was >> annual meeting and the October meeting, we went through a lot >>

039meeting in September, which was September 9thish, and then the end of October meeting where we actually had the numbers. So, then we were looking at the mill rate then. So, those are two very good explanations with PowerPoint slides and the whole bit to work through. >> Yep. And this was the first fall where I didn't do a school finance 101. I certainly can uh in the past they haven't been well attended. Um but but again, not to say that we couldn't do something again next fall to get people in that mood. >> Well, I think the presentations that you have done are >> they show pretty. Yeah. At school finance. Yep. >> So, thank you very much. Again, just give me a call. >> Any other questions or comments there? Good. Thank you. All right.

040Oh, we are moving to committee reports. >> Uh, no committees this month. >> No committees this month. Great. We're moving to new business. >> Yeah. >> So, uh, I know at the last meeting we talked about, uh, our our primary roof number one. God bless it. It's been 30 years. And, uh, right now it's still in really good shape. Uh, we continue we continued to make sure that that maintenance was was always done. And I just want to remind everybody, we do maintenance on things you can see, right? Uh it is a ballasted roof. There are tons and tons of rocks on top of EBTM uh membrane, an insulation that we don't know if it's leaking. We don't believe it is, but uh after 30 years, I think it's time. It certainly is. So, um

041what you have in front of you is uh are four bids uh that we got. Um and uh the lowest bid that came in was roofing. again that this would be a new vendor for us. Um, in talking to the Carile rep, who is the material rep, they said they are very reputable. Um, I asked for three references and contacted three references. Uh, all businesses that are doing the identical type of roof with what we're we're using too and they said they do great work and would highly recommend them too. So, um, through the bidding process, they did come out the low bidder and, uh, that's why we are recommending Wakauhawa roofing to be moving forward, uh, to the board for for approval. Um, you're going to notice that we didn't put a number on

042it. Okay. Um, Waca's proposal to do the roof, what they believe is the roof, um, is approximately $97,000. Um you will see that sometimes when they remove the old roof they might find some insulation that needs to be removed. Okay. Um Wauaaw actually was the lowest per square foot on that removal too as well. Um we don't anticipate that being a significant number at all based on our experiences because we don't see any water leakage right now and uh we feel that if there's any replacement it will be um minimal from that standpoint too. So, um, regardless of the contractor, if they pull it up and they find something wrong with it, they have to fix it. Uh, actually, Walkershaw would be the lowest. It's a dollar $1.90 per square foot to replace that, uh,

043that insulation and things like that. Um, given the age of this roof, actually, it's interesting because we're going to be putting keeping our old insulation and adding more insulation. So, the RV value, for those of you who are interested in RV value, is going to go from like R11 to R13 all the way up to R30. So that is the new code. So um so we're going to keep the existing insulation, put more on top of it, put that membrane down with a whole bunch of rocks as well. >> With the increased R value, will that how will that impact our HVAC? >> Um it should obviously better insulator. Um >> quantifying it because I asked Focus on Energy, I was like yes, can you help us out with this project? Chris Sites just kind

044of laughed and said, "No, Ron, we are not going to help you out with that project." but I'm going from a R11 to R30. And he laughed. He goes, "You have anything else for me?" I said, "No." But uh so again, insignificant, unfortunately, just new codes. >> Are we impacted by the state legislation uh on building codes with this project? >> Um it all would we we have to get a permit for it. Um, but we anticipate all of our other roofs, John, we just gone to the village, pulled a normal permit, and uh we don't have to with the state of Wisconsin with the permits. Whenever you're changing interior significantly, >> no, what I'm talking about is the new legislation that they have where they're tightening up things. There's a lot of costs on

045buildings that are going up because of uh some of that legislation that's going in. And that's why I was curious about that as to what kind of impact schools are seeing. Uh I've seen this discussed in various places that cost of new buildings and um building projects. One area that it's being talked about is with school referenda. That the referenda you're what you get is going to be a little bit less because there's more that is required by the state as far as tightening these buildings up and things like that. Then they don't breathe very well then either. Um there's a there's a tradeoff in these things but the um the costs are are expected to go up significantly. So, I'm just curious what that may do to this project. I I'm not against it

046or anything like that. It's not what I'm saying because I think that this is something that we need to do this kind of ongoing maintenance. However, I'm just looking at what Madison is doing to schools and to developers with some of their legislation. Mhm. I I guess what I would do in talking to Waka Roofing, I'm going to sign it. If the board moves forward with it tomorrow morning, I sign the contract with them and if that number moves for the basic install, we're not doing it and I got to come back to you guys to do that, too. So, I'm not familiar, John, with what you're referring to. Um, I know we we are not being grandfathered in the old ones because I was like, why do we need need new insulation? Well, because

047per code we have to move up to that R30. Um, I'm not familiar with obviously I'm familiar with prevailing wage and some of those other things. >> I'll try to get some more information. >> If you could, that'd be great. >> But they are responsible to to meet CO. So, when you sign that contract, we're not obligated. >> Correct. Any anything above that? And they were all the other bids were fairly competitive. And actually, I got one bid that they're like, "Hey, Ron, I'm really sorry." And this was after everything was due. Our new bid is this. And I said, I'm very sorry. I can't accept that. But the bids were very competitive except Langanger was a little bit bigger. Um I I would assume, John, anything that the state has been telling them would

048all be going into that bid for sure. And if once we signed, they're doing the bid the roof for $97,2. Anything else has to get change ordered through me >> for sure. >> And that's that plus any additional the additional insul. We won't know the insulation until they suck off all the rocks, pull the membrane off. >> That's 97,000, etc. >> plus what the insulation cost. >> So, I'd like to make the motion that we do it uh as the bid is presented here at 97,000 2 plus $1.90 square foot for any uh >> yep insulation that has to be added. >> Yep. Second. Second. We >> have a motion in a second. Any discussion? But it's nice to see competitive bids coming. >> Very competitive bids. And I I'm I'm actually really It's good

049that we have a different contractor in because that really kind of keeps keeps our other contractors honest to be able to say, "Hey, if I come in low, I'm getting it." And given good references, so we hope it goes well. We're anticipating it to go well. >> Thanks for doing the reference checks. >> Yep. Right. We have a motion in a second. Any other discussion? Seeing none, all in favor of approving the bid for $97,2 with replacement insulation at $1.90 per square foot, please say I. >> I. Oppose. Say nay. Abstensions. All right. We motion passes. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Our next we are talking about uh final reading of policy 187 public participation fees. So what you have in front of you has gone through the uh policy committee has been a first

050read and the change that the that the uh the committee is recommending is basically instead of that awkward silence or whatever you called it before Dr. is now it's going to be embedded into awkward stare thank you Patrick into the meeting. So that's the only change to our public participation policy is is we start the meeting, we gavel in p pledge of allegiance, community forum, then we begin our meeting. So the the normal stuff. So um so again just looking for the board to uh make a motion to approve policy 187 public participation at board meetings that has been recommended by the policy committee and provided to the full board for its consideration and action. Make a motion to approve it. >> Do we have a second? I'll second that. Do we need to read

051that? >> It would be or you could just say as as we did all those other ones. We >> we we did everyone, >> you know. Yeah, we should probably make the uh the person approving it or motioning it first should probably is accepted >> as written. >> So, do we need to read it? >> We should probably read it. We should probably read >> we read all the other ones. Are we reading the whole thing or are we just reading the line that changed >> the quote? >> And that is >> Where's the quote? >> Page two. >> I can read it. It's on the uh it's on the agenda in the packet. >> I've got this piece here, but I don't have anything. >> Oh, the uh Did we not get a sheet

052on it? Sure, we did. Sir, I >> sure did. It's under the new business on itemiz right there. I'll make a motion to approve it. Approve policy 187 public participation at board meetings that has been recommended by the policy committee and provided to the food board for its consideration and action and parenthesis and quotation. Excuse. I'll second that. >> We have a motion in a second. Is there any discussion? >> Second. >> Seeing no discussion, all in favor, please say I. >> I oppose. Same sign. >> Any abstensions? Thank you. That passes. >> Thank you. >> All right. Thank you for that. We are moving on to future meeting and agenda items. >> Okay. So, we got a close session coming up here on January 5th. Uh since Scott Merton Primary School, please. Um January

05326th, that is where we will do our open enrollment seat declaration for the 2627 school year. Um Katie Riley from Riley Pennerbettton is going to be coming to do a short uh audit presentation at uh right away too. And then uh any other business that comes up too. So, >> and will we do uh start back at committee meetings or um student achievement before that? >> Yep. Yep. We'll have student achievement before that. Yep. We certainly will at >> All right. And then we are scheduled out beyond that too, correct? >> We are. We have an April meeting and then we have a May meeting. Correct. That as far as we went. >> We do have also have a February March meeting. >> Oh, yeah. It's uh Febru I'm sorry. Yeah, we have February 23rd,

054>> March 23rd. >> In March 23rd, >> and then end of April. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Any other future agenda items anybody wants addressed? I would like to come back to discussing HR, but I think we're going to make that a portion of that close. >> Yes, I do believe you are. >> Yep. >> We adjourn. >> We have a motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Motion and a second. All in favor please say I. >> I. >> And we are adjourned. Thank you everyone.
