uh feel like um okay good evening i'm going to call this meeting to order if you would just join me for a moment of silence and if you would join me in the pledge of allegiance cherry would you do roll call todd clemens erica connor here mary jane moore here joel fredericks here art schneider peter schwartz craig verts here jill warner here jerry winchelke here okay this is an open meeting and it has been noted as such we are going to rearrange the agenda order just a little bit because we have um some friends here with us from big bend and they have a presentation that they're going to kick us off with hello and welcome to our future city galax we are all 6th graders from big bend elementary i'm sadie watrey i'm aubrey
lane i'm nolan spangler i'm charles i'm mary we made the city for a competition called future city this is a project-based learning program where sixth through eighth grade students create a city 100 years in the future in this program we research all about cities how to design and build them in this way we all become engineers in the future city process we had to write a 1 500 word essay create a presentation design a project plan record a presentation video have a virtual q a with the judges and most importantly create a 3d model from recycled materials each year the students get a challenge that they must solve this year we had to have a circular economy a circular economy is a way to eliminate waste and pollution design products to be reused or repaired
or remanufactured and to generate our natural resources it required shifting our thinking and involved everyone and everything governments businesses and individuals secular economy is big with using the three r's reduce reuse and recycle one way you use the circus economy in the city is our waste management center so our waste management center is this right here in this we have garbage trucks and these garbage trucks go to our residential zone over there and they pick up all the waste the residents make and they come over here and drop the garbage into this conveyor belt then the conveyor belt moves and crushes the garbage into these blocks these blocks we can use to make our houses make our buildings and they're almost indestructible and the waste management center is a really good way to use circular
economy in our city galax got its name from a turkish word which translates to the word future in english we changed up the original word and came up with galacticity we used nuclear power in our city as the main power source we did this because nuclear power is the most reliable and clean power source there is it also takes up less space than other green power sources we also used hydro power as a backup source in this future city competition there are many special awards we ended up winning greenish transportation we have two forms of transportation in our city they are algae-powered cars and algae-powered hoverboards the cars are mainly used for adults and farther distances or any other reason that people would use cars today and the hoverboards are mainly for kids or shorter
distances so if you live here and you have a friend that lives over here you can use your hoverboard easily to get over to their house um like i said before all of our transportation is powered by algae all of our algae is grown back here in our algae farm we have two kinds of algae we have regular algae and bioluminescent algae the regular algae as you know is turned into fuel we do this in three simple steps the algae is harvested and then brought into our factory here here the oils are extracted and the oils are then used to make our fuel this fuel is then either bottled or put in containers and is either sent to our algae fuel store or is shipped to other cities that also use algae fuel to power
their means of transportation the biomass and algae is used in our roads as you can see there are light blue dots in our roads everywhere to represent the algae this is really good because it helps it makes our roads glow in the dark meaning that we don't need street lights it's also a lot easier to see our roads at night so it helps prevent crashes another thing we have in our city are fire fighting drones which are represented by these little marbles here on top of our um fire station these marbles are these um marbles represent our drones and the drones are really amazing because it helps save lives instead of using firefighters like as humans as we do today going into fires and trying to help people we use these drones now instead of
having so many people dying the line of duty and trying to save others these drones prevent that and they fight the fires themselves what they do is they pick up the river water and then wherever the fire is they'll drop the water onto that fire as you can tell everyone on the big bend future city team really enjoyed this project i know that other kids from also elementary schools also enjoyed it before future city we knew almost nothing about circular economy now we are almost experts in it it has taught me real world skills that will help me in life such as working with a team problem solving their the engineering design process how a city works and project planning it has helped us improve so many creative skills that made us think can come
up with different types of solutions to our problems we also really wanted to thank you for letting us share and hearing us out questions um over here we have um an algae fuel store where um it's either shipped off to other countries uh i'm in towns that also use um bioluminescence algae and algae to power their cars and um you can also buy it from our store so that you can use it in your own car congratulations so great job guys and we also want to thank mrs kimono uh mr kimono is the advisor for uh future city group and and you guys won the best transportation system award and i understand that this is a sixth seventh and eighth grade competition and our sixth grade team uh beat all those other teams and and
there were at least 49 other teams is that accurate yeah that's an impressive accomplishment an impressive accomplishment nice job very cool [Applause] i'm serious i need some of that algae in my neighborhood you can't see a thing i'm curious why we couldn't ride the hoverboards i was going to ask if there was a prototype to try out but maybe next year all right so i'm going to move us into citizen's comments we have just a handful just a reminder you come up have a seat at the table speak clearly into the microphone for us and you will have two minutes mary will be keeping track and we will go ahead and we will start with dale porter evening everyone mary don't cut my time short why not um i just want to talk about covet
protocols and the disappointment i guess i have that it's taken so long to bring this up many parents feel like we've been shut out for months talking about this when it's such a serious issue mental health and the grades of our community with our kids i'm pleading with you to please end all the protocols right down to ripping up stickers off the school doors recommending masks um just last week my daughter i called her in sick eight years old called her in for her cough half hour later i get a call from the school they didn't even give me all the options they told me this pretty much quoting taya can't come to school unless she goes goes and gets a covet test or gets an alternative diagnosis from the doctor i waited he'll see
if she's going to give the other alternative and it never was there and i was like well she can't stay home for five days not go to the doctor and she sounded really irritated that i knew that so i'm for the sake of our kids i'm asking all coveted protocols come to an end ever since i put my name in uh i had to run for a school board i've had countless phone calls and emails this one this past week i actually cried reading it about the mental health of their children it's bad it it's in crisis mode there's a waiting list for kids to get mental health help and we need to be leaders we shouldn't say we're doing better than other communities we should be the leaders and leading the way getting rid
of all these protocols thank you for your time thank you okay next up we have karen i always say it wrong don't i tallicky sorry come on i actually have a couple of topics to share so um all right so i just want to thank you for respected board members for the opportunity to speak tonight my name is karen for those of you who do not know me i welcome you to take stand and hold the line my in my past have served medical many medical on the front lines of medical for trauma responding as a surgical nurse saving lives of many young and old i spent countless volunteer hours in leadership as parent as a parent association co-chair officer i've i've been a school adolescent health instructor a community member of the parish council
i've read led i still lead or in some regards some liturgy leadership team i have carried the weight of many community leadership members and i can see when to say something and step up and i have to say excuse me parents are being distracted right now period they're missing what's going on and the last few or last month only really a small amount of parents i want to say maybe even six parents showed up at the school board meeting many parents are placing attending the extracurriculars above the meetings parents are not understanding the actual education frameworks that are in play like crt sel cultural responsive teaching and it's being changed over over the course of years from in front of our very eyes parents need to be devoted to attending the school board meetings at
least one day a month and many do not they say they do not we do not have crt here okay partially that's partially true but partially not however if you measure the last five ten years a different picture populates we can see really the gutting of our focused quality education wrap it up it needs to be placed during the coved propaganda timepiece i see it is simply an excuse to an open social emotional learning system that is basically crt in disguise okay thank you that's enough time i'm talking on two different topics so and then that was not too we were allowing two minutes that was every person that yes it was it was two minutes and three seconds actually i'll let you go a little over well the ultimate goal of of children developing
into critical social emotional proficiencies such as empathy social consciousness and recognition to eventually apply critical thinking skills to the environment around them on their own the end goal is to have the children question and analyze everything in their lives such as history issues at school and outside school especially at home once the child develops these abilities academic and social emotional they will always view the world and make decisions through the lens of critical race theory thank you for coming next mark summers good evening now you all are in trouble all right first i want to start with the covet mitigation strategies so we've been bringing this up for a while to remove the testing from our school grounds and we would like immediate removal of all testing from school grounds the tests are not fda
approved they are authorized under the eau emergency use authorization not fda approved but if we can't take those out and it seems like we've been asking for it for a while and it has not happened if immediate removal will not happen due to the acceptance of federal funds then full disclosure of the toxins and the harm they cause must be provided to parents full disclosure okay not only to the parents but the children and the staff because the staff are being asked to take tests as well so three of the main ingredients in tests including one of them that is the home test that is also mentioned in the message from mr mcnulty in his email sodium azide it's in home test this chemical is used in home tests to trigger a chemical reaction to
detect the presence of coronavirus this chemical causes hypertension and can be fatal other harmful effects are decreased mental status seizure coma oh i can't even pronounce half this crap and also cardiac arrest mild effects are nausea vomiting diarrhea headache dizziness temporary loss of vision palpitation and temporary loss of consciousness or mental status decrease ethylene oxide this is supposed to be used to sterilize swabs this chemical is known to cause lymphoma and leukemia graphene oxide this is used in pcr swabs and all covet 19 vaccines the same disclosure should be done for vaccines there's data should also be disclosed to parents children and staff keep in mind vares is reporting only one percent they wrap it up scenes are not fda approved again e-a-e-u-a okay thank you that was over two minutes next carolyn simon hello
i'm carolyn simon i am running for school board hi everybody that's out there i'm excited to see that covet mitigation is on the agenda tonight i know a lot of parents have been looking forward to seeing the mitigation go away so i'm really hoping that the board has a constructive conversation tonight and chooses to eliminate all of the mitigation the masking signs the what's the the list of all the symptoms getting that to go away the five day if a person has positive that they have to stay home for five days and it's not a parent's choice i think that's really important that parents have the choice to hold their kids home if they are positive and they can hold them home for as long as they want because sometimes symptoms can go longer than
that and responsible parents may choose to hold them longer than that some parents might say hey my kids healthy i'm going to send them back so i'm excited to hear your conversation i am want to encourage you please remove all of the code of coven mitigation a lot of parents are really excited about this meeting tonight and excited to hear the updates thank you cheryl zastrow i didn't know how much hi so i'm cheryl as you said um i've been a critical care nurse for 44 years i'm retired thank goodness but i was still there after the whole thing started so first i want to start with some of the responses that the masd got that they posted what they asked for input from people so um i just want to comment on those um
i do have knowledge on this um the money that was for supposedly called covid relief that comes with having to prove compliance is part of the reason some of this has to be reported as far as the testing i do want to say that the pcr testing through part of the group of the agenda got a permit got a patent to start this in 2015 pcr testing cannot cannot by design diagnose it it um koved it can't diagnose anything the design the person who invented in is dead but his comment is that it is not to be used for diagnosing we cannot use it for for covet 70 of the results are false but it just enlarges a piece of dna dna so it can be examined the world health organization it recycles it really
fast they made them do it at a hundred thousand cycle accounts so there's large stuff it just shows up anything you've had to build up immunity in your lifetime if it's real large you might have a cold going on but it doesn't mean covered so anyway social assisting is distancing is not normal or required someone suggested you know that but not at the risk of our kids they did say so if a person set the course stay home but um studies show that prolonged closest to someone having no symptoms has a three percent chance of getting anything it's a droplet precaution not an airborne like tb is airborne i could be a distance from you and it you could catch a deal yeah so the hepa filters in the air ducts that's not necessary only
like in an icu when this when um germ is aerosolized it can still wrap it up longer but it dies quicker is my time up yep oh shoot okay thank you thank you cheryl next i have ashley shrimp right so ashley's going to speak on a small territory detachment which is later on the agenda okay so we'll hold off on you and cross you out here max i can't read your last name i'm sorry okay i'm vertically challenged here good evening i will keep this as short as possible as i know you have a full agenda we've learned a lot these past several months regarding the pandemic and use drastic measures to combat the virus my greatest concern right now is what's going to happen down the road what's what is your reaction going to
be when the normal flu makes its appearance this fall are you going to revert back to pandemic policies are you going to require that students be vaccinated and boostered before they can return to school with this experimental injection and other reason i say experimental injection it took 25 years for the chickenpox vaccine to be developed at the current moment we have a flu vaccine that is only 40 to 60 percent effective and less than half the u.s population chooses to get one and roughly 20 000 americans will die of the flu or flu complications science is pure it doesn't flip-flop however politicians do and where is the illustrious dr fauci last i heard he was opening a flip-flop shop in florida with the useless cdc this is the same charlatan and sad thing that the
majority of the people believed him because of all the multiple lives that were fed to them through fear and intimidation i recently learned that the poison control centers issued a warning on covid 19 tests and you just heard about the toxic materials that it is to both children and adults does this ring a bell i seem to recall a citizen coming forward the last four months reporting this very same thing along with the dangers of prolonged mask wearing ridiculous quarantine here is an individual who took the initiative to research and support the stats regarding the subject matter not to mention that she has spent numerous years in the medical field but she was dismissed this response was yeah ten seconds i hear you this was demeaning you should give her the respect and listen to
her concerns regardless of the recommendations that are presented by the cdc which will be regurgitated by the local health department in the future you the school board are independent and can dictate your own policy just remember a wise man makes his own decisions an ignorant man follows public opinion thank you max okay we're going to move forward we're moving on to consent agenda i am looking for approval of school board meeting minutes of january 31st 2022 and approval of voucher numbers 135 908 to 136 448 and the amount of 2.259 million in chain 2.2 million and change and receipts for january 2022 totally totaling 17 million and change do i have any questions or concerns hearing none they are approved by consent and then we will move into presentations and we have our student rep

tom why don't you kick us off all right so uh as a part of this process the shrimp family is here and we will present uh give them the opportunity to address the school board with their reasoning and rationale for the request so we'll hear them out at this time to hear what they what they'd like to tell us and their reasons for wanting to attach to the mukwonago area school district all right um we want our property to be part of the mukwonago school district mostly because we love this community and we want to be part of it our property borders pretty it doesn't border against the mukwonago but it at one point it did until a new subdivision was put in between we our address is mukwonago our kids go to st john's
lutheran right here and the middle school high school everything is closer to be in mukwonago so that's where we've just been part of this great community and we want it to be official as far as i mean everything from tax dollars to go towards the school our kids will open enroll to um bus systems to be able to have the opportunity for the kids to take the bus until they're old enough to drive to the high school so pretty much we love the community we're just outside i mean on our property we can see the houses that are all in the mukwonago school district so we just ended up being in cattle moraine currently so does anyone have any questions so now would be the time to ask ashley the questions because later when you
discuss this your decision then there won't then then you would not ask her questions so now you want to ask questions we're happy you're in quantico school district we're not trying to be yeah so i i was setting a precedent by doing an island i don't know that is this would this be a precedent so so tom did include a map in the in in your packet and you can see our school district boundaries and then where the ship property is located and generally one of the first questions that we ask is is it contiguous is it touching is it connected to the district and and it is not oh it is close but it is not so yes you would be establishing a precedent to answer your question greg there are seven criteria that
are spelled out um in state statutes for a situation like this and um those seven uh criteria are the geographical characteristics of the affected school districts including estimated travel time to and from school for pupils the educational needs of all children residing in the affected school districts if territory is proposed to be detached from one school district and attached to an enjoying school district whether the proposed detachment will have any adverse effects on the program currently offered by the school districts for which the territory is proposed to be detached uh the testimony of and written statements filed by the residents of school districts the estimated fiscal effect of the proposed reorganization um in this case it's not a collection of properties it's a let's say small profit property relatively speaking to the size of both
school districts so a lot of this is the minimus the fifth the fifth criteria is whether the proposed for your organization will make any part school district's territory not contiguous um so those those are the criteria that ought to be considered um in the past we have had i think it was about three years ago we had a property that was non-contiguous in the eagle district that was looking for a same situation and it just makes the situation different at that same time three years ago when we had we had two properties one was touching our border they were in the north school district uh they proposed to be attached to ours the nora school district agreed um and since they were already on our border we accepted them but when we went through the
eagle situation the palmare eagle school district did not uh their school board did not vote for that did not allow that on their end uh and our school board uh echoed that we we also said no so at that time we had asked ourselves are we gonna set a precedent by allowing islands to enter our school district um because when we go that route we ultimately responsible for transportation and for busing and it's just typically not what school districts do not saying it can't be done but it's just historically speaking people have been slow to have understood that they aren't saying president if they take this route i got a question did you check to see how far it was to the schools to the kettle marine schools uh yes um the middle school and
the high school of mukwonago is closer to our home than the middle school and the high school to cattle marine did you see how much by how much um the high school is i would say roughly half a mile closer mukwonago but the middle school since it's all the way endowsement for kettle moraine um i mean we're looking at half the time to come to mukwonago middle school versus going all the way out to middle school for kettle moraine i don't suppose you happen to go talk to all the people in the subdivision about so that's the hardest part is like half of the people are trying to build so it's kind of like a weird like up and coming subdivision where i can't really like find which ones i mean there's like three homes
that people for sure live in but not where they have children at the moment so i don't know i i guess the couple people i've talked to they just don't really want to get involved so i mean i've tried and i mean i i go for runs and workouts all the way through fields crossing in that area and i mean it's just it's so close everything in mukwonago so not to be talking about fiscally responsible but would this pose a um some type of a bus situation i know we try to we're trying to decrease our bus routes now just asking the question that would that be well correct so we would be responsible for transportation um with their children currently attending st john's we would look at we do have some buses that pick
up st john's students but um in terms of boundaries of how far we go if it's outside of an existing bus routes and we have to create a new bus route to pick up those students um that that's a pretty costly that can be a pretty costly move there so we would um likely offer a parent contract in lieu of yellowstone transportation um it gets what what is just something to keep in mind if you know in this case it's close to our border but not on our border if there was another uh family that lived on the north end of say the the calamari school district um again we would be responsible for transportation and you know you're not trying to send your school bus to another school district just to get to your
own it is unusual but we would bear the possibility of uh transportation actually it looks like you already went to the kettle moraine school board meeting how did that go it did not go well what it came down to was my understanding was more or less they didn't think any of you guys would agree to it um and the tax dollars so what their i mean what their school district is getting from our property is too valuable of an asset for them to just even look into any of this so they kind of wrote it off and that was the end so what do both districts have to agree so what happens is if kettle moraine would disagree and we would agree then it would go to the dpi the department of public instruction and
and typically school districts who get this type of request if it's not a contiguous offer they deny it because the reverse can also happen and so there are parents who may want to go to who live north of north prairie and are closer to dausman middle school than they are to our middle school they could request a detachment to uh from our district to go to kettle moraine and you know we would deny that more than likely our board would deny that and then we would hope that catamaran would do the same does anybody else have any questions okay so we will discuss that later in executive session no not an executive session that's that's an open session an action item in in on the agenda small territory detachment and so you'll admit you'll do
a vote at that time you can amend the agenda and do the vote at this time if you prefer i think we're here are we good just moving up this action item and you can do that by consent you don't need to emotion but you can do a motion to amend the agenda if you if that makes you feel better let's do a roll call make sure everybody's on board um amending the agenda to address this action item right now yes mary yes yes okay so the proposal on the table is whether or not to a grant or deny the small territory detachment request i would make the motion sorry that we deny this request i'll second as much as i want to see you stay in the district you can drive here right i
mean yeah you love me that's what i do anyways i'm planning on sending the kids to st john's through eighth grade anyways so joel would pick up your kids once a week if you had to okay okay i have a motion and a second any other discussion okay all those in favor say aye aye any opposed sorry jill in the opposed motion carries thank you so much for your time thanks ashley thank you all right so we will move back to student learning committee update okay in student learning this month we had a very busy meeting the we had kelly kosniewski come in and did an update on the um fifth and sixth grade chromebooks and as of shortly after spring break all of our fifth and sixth graders will have chromebooks assigned to them
to take home we also had a update on our gedo program and so far we've had 13 students who have successfully graduated with this new program and there should be more of them by the end of the year we also discussed the wvs classes for 2022-23 and what that is is it's wisconsin virtual school and stephanie had asked the committee to consider keeping the partnership for approved situations for the 22-23 school year it is not an action item our next item i'm going to defer to stephanie is our sel learning update and christine bowden came in and gave an update from our k-8 curriculum yeah so christine was there she's been working with a group of k-8 elementary or i mean counselors school counselors on an update to our sel curriculum she put in the
packet if you didn't see it she put in the packet the redo of the curriculum that they have done so far and are working on in addition she let the committee know that second step which is the resource that we've used for this curriculum um i'm not sure how long but for quite some time has a new it's been updated and so we are piloting with that please keep in mind that we don't follow second step to a t it's a resource for us to support the curriculum it is not the curriculum itself it's not what we use from from front to cover she also told student learning committee that if any of the board members at this point would like to see the digital copy of that that she would share that so i'll
extend that for the whole board at this point too as we work through a pilot and then um yeah it will be coming for approval or not based on how that goes okay we also talked about live streaming for apps and students and after some discussion it appears that the live streaming is used at the high school in the middle school and they like it they like to use it and it they it's appreciated in the elementary schools however it is kind of cumbersome and so the committee agreed that teachers could return to supporting students through absences as was done prior to covid the district will continue using google classroom and see saw to report to support the students we also discussed the esser funds and how the effectiveness of the ready set go summer
program which will be repeated again this year as well as the esser pro positions of that we support we also had a report on our committee for the valve victorian and salutatorian committee recommendations and um that their work um will that what happened was it was uh almost unanimously almost not quite that we would go to a different program and for recognizing academic scholars a committee was formed this committee will work up what that would look like and then bring it back to the learning committee for more discussion we also discussed the german program our german it was brought to our attention that the german program as a whole is diminishing and decreasing in number so we're just it was just brought for information and we'll bring back numbers after the registration is done for
the 2022 2023 in order to figure out what the staffing will be and where that program may head um stephanie bowden preview uh previewed the upcoming community event to be held at brook life church no that was during our snow day or our ice day on tuesday so that's going to be rescheduled and i can't remember the date but we'll get that to you but it's being rescheduled okay and that's it okay thank you and then personnel committee update all right we had we talked about the 2223 hiring update and steven's coming off here we're gonna give him a minute i'm gonna go over that real quick all right with the uh the early retirements um we were able to move forward with getting some jobs posted on we can we have an english teacher
position at the high school as well as a social studies position and a literacy intervention position at the elementary level we've got a fifth grade position at rolling hills fifth sixth in a 4k position at big bend clarendon has a kindergarten and a fifth grade spot section is looking for a second and a fourth grade teacher and parkview prairie view is looking for fourth and fifth we're also looking for special education teachers at clarendon rolling hills in prairie view an instructional coach at rolling hills and a art teacher at rolling hills as well thank you all right then we also went over a summary of benefits each spring the school district issues contracts to the teaching staff for the following school year contracts typically are given to the teachers in mid-may to sign we also
did the elm brooks school district contract services we do that every year that was just an explanation that we do co-op with them along with some other waukesha county school districts to provide special education services when we don't have enough students for one complete staff member one full-time staff member so we share staff share staff yeah all right and then we had a teacher compensation update work in progress i would say continuing on with year two in terms of getting people caught up right the board gave stephen uh some input on what they're looking for with that teacher compensation model and we're taking that into account we'll continue to work on that thank you all right thank you and then we have finance and facility committee update uh we finished up our facility touring at
the high school and then went through our long range facility planning tom also went through enrollment projections and then the uh five-year budget forecast tom anything to add to those specifically yeah i in terms of long-range facility planning we took a opportunity to go through the tech head areas through the gym spaces andy trudell presented athletic wish list so to speak of the things that he would like to see the district add if the opportunity was there uh and mike and avoc our head football coach also presented on our on our fitness center and how we've maxed those spaces out with student enrollment so we're doing a great job uh with the classes that are offered in there uh for just membership projections and look at how many students we will be able to include
in our three-year excuse me third friday count um for our revenue limit purposes which drives our funding um we have good optimism to believe that our numbers will increase uh but not enough to say it's going to grow uh incredibly or immensely uh we will we're going to plan conservatively to uh assume that we'll have zero growth although the reality is we'll probably grow a little bit but uh it'll help us build a conservative budget where we won't assume we're getting more money than than we'll actually have just in terms of the budget we looked at a few scenarios there as we just we adopted our budget assumptions in january and uh we assume uh the main drivers of the budget are going to be salary increases and health insurance increases so assuming that we
have a four percent increase of salary and health insurance um we have somewhat of a deficit for next year something that we could certainly handle but the ongoing effect is difficult unless state government acts on the biennial budgets uh following this upcoming year our five year outlook doesn't look great so we really need to work on talking to our state legislators about increasing our state's revenues in the next bi-annual budget right now we're frozen and with the inflation we have it's tough it's just it's no different than any private business you know i hear a lot to run it like a business uh but it's it's certainly tough when we have no additional revenues to manage our operating budget okay thanks tom we are going to move into action items and the first one we
have is appointments resignations and retirements for this month we have gene murphy ell teacher district service pupil service uh sue hoffman first grade teacher at prairie view and for resignations we've got heather borgen first grade teacher at big bend and stacey butala physical education teacher at the high school second i have a motion and a second any discussion or comments yeah i have a comment if if i may we certainly want to thank our retirees gene murphy and sue huffman many of you know sue she's been with us for i want to say 17 18 years and she has taught at prairie view for the last several years and has done a variety of different grade levels and has done an outstanding job at all those different grade levels so we want to say thanks
to sue and wish her the best in retirement and then also the same to gene gene hasn't been with us as long done great job and a very difficult position though thank you ted yeah one quick question with the resignations are we losing them to another district or were what are they doing um two two retirements um no resignations we can talk about an executive session okay i'm just curious into other districts okay so i do have a motion and i have a second all those in favor say aye aye any opposed okay motion curious okay we're going to move into covid mitigation measures um oh so much to say here did you have anything you wanted to start with sean so if you take a look at my memo i'm not sure that you
had time to do that first and foremost we're in much better shape today than we were a month ago or six weeks ago when we came back after i guess eight weeks ago when we came back after christmas break right now as a matter of fact updated from friday we have no students and no staff that are positive so much better shape and i also mentioned that in the memo waukesha county health department has informed us that they're changing their covet related procedures they made the determination to focus their efforts on cobit outbreaks in school so when there are a lot of positive cases in a classroom or a school that's where they're going to focus their efforts they they are no longer informing us when students are positive so that's something that we had
relied on since the start of the pandemic that when a student tested positive waukesha county health department would form us parents would often inform us as well but but waukesha county would be the official informer and so then we would start our our procedures um so we're looking for guidance on how you want to proceed for those students and staff that test positive for covid um contact tracing as you know we we are not contact tracing like we did last year we're not placing students in quarantine but we still inform parents when there is a positive in a student's classroom so those kinds of we should have a discussion about that the symptom chart and as you can see our medical staff is okay with moving moving on from that the dashboard we update that
on on tuesdays and fridays and so we're looking for a little input on that and then the koba testing program at mukwonago high school we discontinued that at big bend and prairie view because summit labs didn't have the staffing and so you can see the number of tests that have been done at mhs for the last several weeks and the week of january 10th for example uh there were 245 tests done um the last several weeks we've had about 50 uh 50 to 60 each week and then masks on buses the cdc clarified their guides for mass requirements on buses this past friday and masks are no longer required on school buses well based on what we're seeing here i would like to make the motion to remove all mitigation measures for covet at this
point in time i think our numbers are low and we don't have to worry about getting anywhere near our twenty percent closure rate any longer and i'd like to second all the parents for their help with all of this throughout the year this was definitely something none of us prepared for so mary made the motion sorry jill vito seconded it sorry vito beat you and he's fighting for it so he's going to keep that you got it it's all his um i think in the motion in the second should we go through these points and just make sure we have the motion clear so for students and staff that test positive for covid your motion is saying what are you wanting to say about that no longer requiring tests for positive or negative so i
don't think we should be testing the kids anymore it's if you're sick you stay home if you're healthy you come home kind of like the flu yep well i think we need to back up a second ago because the testing the only testing that we require at this point is if you have the symptom charge let's back up to the symptom chart does your motion do away with the symptom chart yes okay so symptom chart gone which would then mean there's not a requirement for a test to prove that you're negative to come back correct if you're sick stay home she said all right okay i'm just going through each step i want to make sure that it's all very clear so we are able to communicate this well so in terms of you have
symptoms but not necessarily covid you don't have to get tested to prove to us that it's not covered okay students and staff that test positive so we know that they have covid you're saying what if you're sick stay home so if they don't have any symptoms and they're healthy then they can come back i mean so the current what we're operating is under the current updated waukesha county health department which is if you test positive you stay home for five days after five days if you're getting better you come back so you're wanting to get rid of that okay um so i think our nursing staff would want to interject here and say that we do require for other illnesses for example whooping cough there there is a requirement for for kids to stay home
so right with the confirmation that you tested positive right so i think with your symptom chart gone that does not require testing to prove that you do or do not have things we're talking about the few that would be testing positive so if we're informed and we actually know should they are you saying they don't need to stay home the five days i mean we currently have zero cases in the schools so i don't i i understand that's why the the memo is asking for clarification because we have to we have to proceed with how we're going to inform parents and we know that that some parents are are going to be uncomfortable with the lack of mitigation measures others are more comfortable with it and so is there any other things other than whooping
cough that we require people to stay home from with i would think strap well i mean if you call in and say my child tested positive for influenza a or b you do stay home until you're feeling better like that's just kind of the common kind of process right like can you guys keep it down for us out there so so uh i mean we so there's a whole list of wisconsin childhood communication diseases that the the nursing staff provided to me um i i'm not sure which ones actually require uh people to a mandate to stay home um you know there certainly are some that that are recommended to stay home you know like if if you're bobbing in diarrhea you know it's 24 hours free that kind of thing um but i'm looking
at uh getting back i don't know getting back to normal bumps uh pink guy getting back to normal is your parents if your parents think you're sick you stay home stay home given all the mitigation member measures that are available these days and things that you can take and fix i think that makes sense to do go back to normal there's plenty of therapeutics and stuff i'm just trying to define normal right now what that means in terms of happening so if somebody is sick though like you just said pink eye right so if there is something that is contagious that you have confirmed have it such as covet or pink eye or pertussis or the things the practice is what is it that you're proposing in your motion in your second well the covid
right now is a cold or you're you're not it's not the same as it was before the covid that's out there now that um sorry what very omicron i'm a pomegranate i mean you can have the cold you can have omicron you're not going to know the difference um i think at this point if you're sick you stay home if you're you're healthy you can come to school so you're i'm you're just saying no definition of how many no definition of how many days so are you saying just symptom free symptom-free and like with those symptoms for i mean you have a temperature you have to be symptom-free for 24 hours correct correct well and currently symptoms power you say improving symptoms we don't say symptom-free right now we say no fever and improving symptoms
but we already have some guidelines already in it right well that's what i'm asking if your motion removes that or no no no okay guidelines that we already have in place are still there i mean you have a temperature you stay home so you're free of it she's just referring to the covet things not everything okay so no i'm referring to our just our general everyday yeah i understand what you might hire the covid rules uh contact tracing go gone okay uh the chart's gone oh so i'm getting interjected so again so if a parent does inform us that that their son or daughter is positive and i i do think that some parents because their own children are immune compromised have some kind of serious health condition they still may want to know if
there is a positive case in their child's classroom can we do a email blast where they opt in to getting emails or notifications too so the nurses do not have to call every single student yes okay let's go with that okay so now i'm hearing an opt-in format for contact tracing yes that limits their they don't have to worry about everyone right and obviously when we have one or zero cases that that process is is much easier covaid dashboard is that something we currently or we continue to update on tuesdays and thursdays or no we can be done right so no dashboard as long as you're keeping the board informed if the numbers change okay but you don't need to send out the dashboard and then kovid testing program at the high school do they
say how long they would want to be there as far as when it's worth their while to because i know some of the covet testing station places of other places have moved or gone to different facilities because the numbers are going down so because these numbers are getting so low the summit have a point when they're going to say we aren't going to do this anymore we haven't gotten any guidance in that regard because i would be wondering find out i i i don't even i wouldn't fathom a guess on that one but again that that is an optional program it is a convenience for our staff and our students whose parents would like them to have that test so i'm just clarifying the motion on on the table yeah this is the last part
of the motion in terms of with all these different things i mean i believe the testing is a service to the community for nothing and if people want to get tested they want to get tested if they don't they don't have to and it's like okay here's my thing so far you know i can get on board on that but then all of a sudden one thing that i'm not on board on i think we should back up and take those five points one at a time because i don't think we're going to have one neat i agree motion i would appreciate that thank you okay so start if you want to keep all right i'll make the motion to students and staff that test positive recovery they no longer need to what is it
the quarantine sorry five days like 14 the five days so isolate for five days okay so we have a motion second and a second any other discussion on this topic my my discussion on this would be i have no problem except for the fact that um if there would be parents maybe that would send their kids to school with covet and then i just understand from what you're saying is you want parents to opt into knowing if there's someone in their class with kovid rather than like when we have a head lice case in our classrooms we send a note home that says we have had a case of head lice and that's what they're doing now it's a it's a letter it just goes out it's not like i think it would be more
complicated to opt in and figure out who is than to just if there's a class you send it out just because that's what we're doing it's we've been doing it and well they're not sending letters i mean they're having to call no they're not calling at the elementary level my understanding is that it's letters informing of a classroom yeah it is a letter it's not a call emails right emails yeah okay okay but that's that's the next one so let's just the students and stuff that test positive for covid and what that isolation may or may not look like so the question with if the nursing staff is saying get rid of the symptom chart why would someone get tested now if they thought they were ill and wanted to know for their own right
right and that's and that's where the community i mean we're uh we're not just concerned with just the students instead it's everywhere we're public school we're offering this to the community but you're talking about the technology we're talking about something for work but we're going we're talking about this traveling right now we're talking about so right my question okay so the motion and the second on the table is that students and staff that test positive for covid no longer need to isolate for five days they're allowed to return to school as symptoms improve they must be symptoms they must return to school we don't even say that right now though we say your symptoms have to be improving because coughs can last forever true and allergies um i love those allergies okay okay yeah repeat
your emotion as right students and staff that test positive currently isolate for five days and are allowed to return to school on day six if they're symptom-free my motion is to eliminate the isolation for five days when they are symptom-free or when they are free of a what our normal protocol was before prior to covid um so i i think if you say improving symptoms or symptom free i think that one okay second friendly to your second okay so that's what we're voting on on the table any other discussion on this one point joe nope i'm good all those in favor say aye aye aye any opposed okay all right first one second about contact tracing when somebody has tested positive some discussion has been either an opt-in program or leaving i'm pretty sure the
middle school in high school is doing so the middle school is still informing the high school has pretty much eliminated contact tracing so then at the elementary a letter goes out if there was a case in a classroom an email goes up an email thank you an electronic letter i guess i don't understand why we would even have um i guess if the is the nursing staff going to be okay with still sending those emails out then to the class we're not going to do it in high school we're not going to do it at the middle school so again normal i think in this case what what you mentioned earlier was that we would have an opt-in program so we will survey the parents if they would like to be informed if there's a
positive case in their son or daughter's classroom we will let them know we'll let them know but is that more complicated than just continuing doing it like we would for head lice or any other or any other communicable disease it will be it will be complicated if if we go back to um 100 students that that are positive as long as it's a minimal number of systems we're going to be fine we're fine okay i'm with the so the motion on the table is for contact racing an opt-in option if parents would like to know yes if okay would that be district wide then as far as middle school and high school as well that's up to you guys but i don't see right now you're not doing it now yes we're not doing it
now no but there are some parents that actually may like to know so if it's being optional for people to opt in i see zero reasons electronic they just go and hit a button and say yes okay so you have the motion on this one i will second eliminating contact tracing and making it an opt-in only any other questions or discussion on this one i just want to say if we go this and this passes then i want to be sure that parents are very clearly communicated so that they know that if they don't opt in they won't know correct yes all right does this mean that we have to is it just the nurses doing it or do we have specific people doing the contact tracing so so we have two district nurses that
are part of that process but we also have health room assistance at each school so they're a part of that process as well in the past we've had additional staff that were helping with contact tracing but we don't any longer that i guess i don't know if i'm answering your question i had one of the nurses say that there's they still have five people doing the contact racing at the at a school is that i mean it gave me an impression that there was there was like that that's a job that's something that people are just doing i know i didn't get into the like you're asking if we have full-time contact tracers no so we have other staff members like health assistants or office staff that would help with that process okay okay all
right okay so did we vote on the contact racing no we're still talking okay so all those in favor say aye aye aye any opposed okay motion carries for that one utilization of covid symptom chart i will make a motion to get rid of that thing all right i'll second sorry all right done with that any discussion or questions on the chart okay so noelle did text me and let chickenpox was another example of a childhood disease noel watching where the isolation would be longer than a day sure okay okay any discussion on the coveted symptom chart okay all those in favor say aye aye aye any opposed okay motion carries covid dashboard we are currently updating it tuesdays and fridays is this something we want to keep going make the motion to eliminate the
dashboard second any questions or discussion on that okay all those in favor say aye aye any opposed motion carries i have a question sean um if a parent wants to know will there be numbers somewhere are you still going to keep track of them or will there be no no we'll still track and so yes they can contact us and we can know it's not an issue good idea art okay covid testing program at the high school i would like to keep it until the use goes down to a minimum where it's a convenience for the community at this point they're still using it and when the numbers go down we can eliminate it so now we can have discussion oh okay i would i would say we get rid of it because it doesn't
i mean it's not it's not free everybody thinks this stuff is free but it's not it costs it's costing us money and it's the fact that everybody thinks it's free is kind of scary um somebody's making a bunch of money off this stuff and the fact that we're giving away something that and essentially does cost it's going to be costing us millions if not billions of dollars at the end of the day i don't like the precedent i don't like i don't like sending people the message yep it's all free we've been doing it for two years i disagree with it i don't i don't i don't like that it's a thing and we're down to like 50 people that are using it a week that's it's less than 10 a day yeah it's nice
but we don't have to we don't have to do everything we don't have to do everything for everybody we have to do what's right for the name for the community that um so it just doesn't seem to make sense to keep so yeah go ahead art it's free to the people using it and i would like to stay with it it's a service to the people so can we clarify like i think in your comments you're saying it's not free i mean you're talking at a federal level right because i think we also need to clarify here at the district level because we get a lot of these questions no we don't make any money off of testing no we don't get any kickbacks for having it here no we're not required to have it
here this is a service that at the beginning of the school year this board offered to help those who are interested in it and now without a covid chart there is zero testing that needs to be done like mandatorily for any reason so it's simply as an option for those who are maybe educated about it and want to use it that they would be able to i will tell you i was at walmart and i was looking for a test to buy and you couldn't and the cashier told me you know you can just go to the high school and get that test done so i was like okay the community is well aware that it is here is available i don't see a problem with extending it for a short amount of time any
longer until the numbers go down um is that what you're writing our usage the usage here in the district what's the number no what's the number that's acceptable to say okay get rid of it i think summit will close it when they can't when they no longer are able to so when the company finds it financially not in their best interest that's when we get rid of it unless it doesn't seem like a good policy to me i think if we're going to get rid of something it should be our decision not the company making the money on its decision so at this point there is a motion and a second on the table to continue the testing so we really that's the discussion that we're having as to whether or not the testing remains
inside mukwonago high school available for community members completely optional can we add a number to that and when it's going to be what's what's our what's our goal line what's where is it where's the goal post where do we where do we call it done is it 30 is it 10 is it 5 is it 40 what do we call all right now it's not worth it anybody got anybody here to weigh in obviously mine is that that so that depends on the motion and the person who makes them emotion if they choose to amend their motion and if the second is still considered so need a number we can say 20. i don't think i think they might pull up before that but um i think without us testing the kids that might go
down but i know community members are using it that you know work still requires a lot of workplaces required to get back to work and it's a convenience for a lot of people how much are these tests at walmart 30 bucks at costco for two like it's a box for two yeah the government just said so why would you go why would you go to walmart or walgreens if you can get it because they're sold out instantly because you can't always find them because if you're traveling to other states you have to go get tests to get on a plane sometimes all greens and walgreens so yes some people have greens and it's free travel over oceans okay so any other comments or discussion on whether or not the testing program remains in the high
school until we hit 20 tests or less a week art is that friendly to your second okay it seems kind of low 20 seems low to you it seems very low 20s we're at 57 already and if we're not going to start we're going to stop contesting kids we'll probably be there in a week well it's maybe longer than a week the numbers are pretty good 57 and you can go to walgreens and go and i mean you can the government was mailing to us so where i agree with you they're more readily available um i would say initially my thought was who cares leave it open people can go and use it it's a service i do maintain that um nobody has to do it they can be educated on their own i will
also say that in january and february when this discussion or not in february this is february january when this discussion happened there were three hour long waits all over town so it would have been i thought ridiculous at that point in time to shut them down it is more readily available so i am fine with a number i i think 20 is low also but but this is your motion do you want to change it or are you even at 20. i'm not hearing anything from anybody else i think all day all day out you're going to get 20 probably because there's always going to be 20 people if you're talking the whole district per week i think a long time some of your numbers might be high too in there because a lot of
people like you said for work had to get tested so that was an option and a lot of workplaces now that the mandate's gone and stuff have started to relax some of those so what's the number then they'll be last and then they'll drop one i put a number on i'd say if i was going to run it no time i think at 50 am i would just be done with it yeah i do not know like a roll call vault is in order honey's not even i think 20 is i think let's just do 20 and then see where we are in a month i bet you that we're done it by the time we even we don't even meet again for this so an update in a month yeah keep it a month
update it at that point and we'll see where we're at because if people are using them of their own free will we'll find out a question for tom um i'm hearing that uh yes just out of curiosity tom the esser funds are they attached to anything testing no sweet not whatsoever thank you esser funds aren't attached to vaccines to testing to masks to nothing they're not attached thank you tom so we tom did you have something else no okay so we have a motion on the table that says keep testing unless it drops below per week and we will revisit this in one month if we even need to if we even need to all right you're still second nope okay any other questions or discussion okay all those in favor say aye aye so
we have six to three it passes do you need to know so i i think we we probably should clarify that so we have eight eight school board members and so or do we have nine jill's here so sorry my bad um who were the three nos todd vito okay got it thanks and then we will um we don't have to do anything about the masks on the buses because they're not required and i don't think we've been requiring them anyway that's not our policy that's not right it's not our policy that's the ultimate so that was just an update okay wiaa has their own rules and we can't touch any of those unfortunately sorry okay so as for coveted mitigation measures i think we have covered everything am i missing anything okay then we're
going to move on to neola policy updates all right on february 14th we reviewed three policies the first of which was to the process for which board members could request information and it was determined that we would use bylaw 0143.2 to process those requests and we also took a look at where the conflict of interest for board members where that language uh landed in all the recent updates and it is uh stated in very general terms in 0 144.3 conflict of interest it's just in very very general terms but it was pulled out of 3120 and 20. so those are the updates in regards to the policies they moved forward with a positive recommendation on our personnel committee meeting i would like to make the motion to accept those so i will second that any
other questions or discussion all those in favor say aye hi okay any opposed motion carries mhs coaching handbook updates all right on february 14th as well we reviewed the co-curricular handbook and the three big changes that occurred was is we did add a code of conduct section that we took from the staff handbook and put that in there just to make sure that the expectations were clear we also put a heavy emphasis on staff including volunteers get access to and are to see that upon hire have access to it and then there were just some light uh updates that were made and those are in red so you can see what what uh updates were made and they were for clarity's sake that they didn't change the substance of the meaning but uh just for
clarity i'd like to make a motion second i have a motion and second any questions or discussion well you're stating they'll have access to it yes but we're going to be a little more proactive yes sure they absolutely no they have it yep access okay all those in favor say aye aye aye any opposed motion carries we have a request for junior varsity 2 soccer team yeah last week uh andy trudell sorry last finance committee meeting trudell joined us in the request to add an additional baby to soccer team the cost of the program would be an additional coach's stipend which is twenty four hundred dollars for the season the request is being made due to the large number of uh participants that would like to play soccer and uh hoping that we could do
this and the finance committee is recommending that we do this we can certainly fit this in the budget i think it was budget neutral with a hundred dollar participation fee correct tom yeah emotional emotion exactly i have a craig emotion and art a second any questions or discussion does this go away if the numbers go down too or permanent yeah so we're making this motion right now to to have this opportunity going forward but if the numbers do fall uh fall off then we just simply wouldn't uh utilize this position we leave it on film any other questions okay all those in favor say aye aye aye aye any opposed okay motion carries fund 41 capital purchase approval okay so we we deal with a bit of a conundrum where andy wagner when he is
his billings and ground projects throughout the summer time um our fiscal years stop on june 30 and begin again on july 1st and that's not really helpful as summers are his busiest months to maintain our buildings and maintain the uh perform the big project so last year we we had some projects we were hoping to finish by june 30 and have billed and paid for out of last year's budget but unfortunately that did not happen we left 150 000 of unused budget in last year's uh fund 41 budget but those projects were were approved by the board we accomplished those projects um but we just need the accompanying increase so we left my mind last year unused we'd like to just roll over 103 000 of that 150 000 um for two specific projects here
so we're looking to increase the 141 budget uh by a hundred and three thousand dollars to a total of point eight three three million dollars the finance committee is is recommending that emotion they move the money i'll second i have a motion on a second any questions or discussion okay all those in favor say aye aye any opposed motion carries moving on to dousman transportation rate increase approval okay so we we've been approached by dousman transport and they are looking for a rate increase to uh the current rates that we have in place right now the the request that they're making is to provide a one dollar increase to all drivers hourly rates we analyze the area and all surrounding school districts to see what are they paying their their school bus drivers um and
we were second from the bottom we are are starting ready to pay 16.50 an hour that was behind every district around us with the exception of oconomowoc who's at 16 an hour uh rumor has it that they're going to increase theirs as well but i can't say that for certain so this two percent rate increase would again move the starting rate of pay to 17.50 an hour to put us more in line with the market and provide a one dollar increase to all of our existing drivers to uh maintain retention so larry kirkley the president at thousand transport showed me each driver's wage and how this would be affected so this is solely to provide a raise to our drivers i would like to make that motion well second i have a motion and second
any questions or discussion okay all those in favor say aye aye aye any opposed motion carries um masd audit the memo of understanding approval yeah so we have a memorandum of understanding which is just our our contract that we have with our audit from hawking's ass ash cpas uh we've done three-year contracts with them our three-year contract has now concluded they've they've completed their audit for the 2021 school year so as we move forward we would um we need to find a new auditor or uh renew our uh a deal with them so we we have a offer from hawkins ash to continue our relationship with them it's my recommendation that we continue to work with them uh they're familiar with us they they do a good job in my opinion and they i i
appreciate their partnership they help us along and they provide a good service there so we have a three-year contract to continue on with them for this current school year once the school year is concluded uh audits will begin and then another two years thereafter that motion second i will say that the uh the audit was was uh well done and uh we had zero irregularities thanks for not going to jail tom let's keep it that way right okay so i have a motion and a second any discussion or question all right good all those in favor say aye hi hi hi any opposed okay motion carries and our last action item is the esser plan of approval okay so i there is a plan that i presented here and i have a memo in your
packet to get approved from the school board for our sr3 plan so our sr3 plan all together we're proposing a plan to bring uh 3.8 million dollars of spending that's being provided by the sr3 uh grant and it addresses the we we reached out and got feedback from staff members from the community from families we took all their input we had over 199 responses on a survey on ways that we should we they would like to see us spend that money i worked through that and found 17 themes i summarized that input and i presented a proposed budget on february 15 at a public hearing i looked for further feedback from those in attendance about what they'd like to see changed or modified or amended and uh ultimately we are keeping that same plan in
place we think it honors what the community is looking for and most importantly what kids need so we are spending these dollars to help academic recovery uh commence to help kids with their mental health and by and large that is the plan so we bring this plan before you tonight for your approval we are not uh allocating every dollar we will continuously revise this we will look to see if there's other ways we should be doing things differently we'll do this as we build our 2223 budget and also the following 23 24 budget so this is our plan at this time uh we feel it's a good plan uh it's three years all together our current year and the following two so we're looking for your approval at this time i'm making that motion second
we have a motion and a second any questions on this plan or any discussion i'll just say one more thing we talked a little bit in committee about um how we how do we judge this right tom how do we make sure that that the money spent is is a great plan and and we're seeing progress um i'd like to have more more talk about that down the road yeah most definitely craig we we talked about that internally with those in the district office about how we're going to do that and we're making plans to to be able to show the impact and the outcome of the dollar spent we agree with you we think that's important any other comments or questions can you expound on the hvac improvements hospital era todd really air quality
air quality um i mean i think andy did a great job explaining it we'll never get to be a er type of air quality but we want we want the best we can get and we haven't been or it hasn't been we got to talk about filter levels everything like our filters aren't good enough you should come to a finance meeting todd they're awesome uh just so we're we're clear on us nothing in here is forever right everything in here because esser funds run out essentially at some point right so there's nothing in here that we have to worry about that is ongoing that because you had mentioned earlier that in five years we're going to have some budget issues that we need to deal with well one time imagine that's a one-time thing but
uh we everything we're spending on right now we are doing this intently to avoid a fiscal cliff the positions that we're hiring with these dollars were being very uh candid with with these positions and that they're temporary that they're going to be uh two or three years in nature and that and that is it the intent is to have academic recovery take place and once we get there then it's done so we are avoiding putting ourselves in any type of a fiscal uh an unfavorable fiscal position because of what what we have here this is all temporary in nature truly one-time cost being funded via one-time revenues i trust you on that time i just wanted the community to be able to hear it and hear you say it hey tom i have a time
i have a quick question on this um the teacher laptops and software services that's something that we will maintain ongoing so i assume you're going to have a place for that in the budget then you know once we get through this 23-24 because we're certainly not going to remove laptops i would assume and the appropriate services to support them we we have a refresh cycle for all of our technology devices and that will certainly have to be a part of that conversation right that that always was going to be whether we're refreshed refreshing laptops or the chromebooks that we currently have with our teachers we're looking just to get a better set of uh right before our teachers these are replacing their chromebooks correct so uh it's chromebooks or it's laptops right now we're proposing
that to go to laptops um we think that'll be a better move for our teachers the software services is something that we'll take a look at um look at the impact if the impact is strong and we'll adopt that as a part of our operating budget when we get there uh three or four years from now right so it's important to note that some of these programs could continue but they wouldn't the payment for those programs would have to come from our budget right after two or three more years so the ready set go that very first item on the top that's that two-week summer school program in august at each of our elementary schools targeted towards those students that have fallen behind in reading initial reports from this past year that that was a
a successful program if we want to continue that in 24 25 25 26 and we have to find alternative funding for that within our regular budget so some of the programs may continue but they obviously the esser funds will run out so we'll have to find other funds if we want to continue all right any other questions or discussion okay all those in favor say aye aye and i any opposed okay motion carries and now we will move into unfinished business starting with superintendent report so just one quick reminder that march because of spring break we have a different committee schedule so student learning will be on monday march 7 but finance and facilities and personnel will both be on monday march 14th and we agreed that personnel would go at 5 30 in finance
and facilities at 6 30. so then there's no meeting on the 21st unless we decide we need one for some reason that is over spring break and then our board meeting will be on monday march 28th and then at the finance and facilities committee meeting when we talked about our facilities review our facility plan and the need for a board work session was brought up and so we were wondering if monday april 11 would work for that again that's a regularly scheduled personnel committee meeting uh we could possibly have that personnel at 5 30 and then the work session at at 6. i'm free you're not traveling no i get back on the on the 7th so tom does have a preliminary report from the population study and it does sound like there is a
potential for great growth so we'll want to hear that first right for great growth that was april we'll hear that on march 11th you said so we'll hear that that report in march and so i think you want to have the work session after you hear that report so then that's spring break then it's um then it is uh a full board meeting and then i can then april work session but if everybody else can do it let me go with it so monday april 11 at 6 00 p.m can we all just email you and get back to you yeah i don't need an answer right now i'm just throwing out that date and that you can let us know and then if that doesn't work then we'll we'll go back to the drawing
board learning committee march 7th what time was that sean i'm sorry learning committee on march 7 will be six o'clock thank you um i have nothing okay so then i'll go on to our recognition so we do want to congratulate we have some wasb awards tonight and as you're aware wasb recognizes board members for achieving achieving certain levels of professional development and so we want to congratulate cherry who has reached award level three and jill warner who has reached award level two so congratulations to both of them and we have their certificates here and that to you and i'll take yours jill then we'll mail jills just a few more groups that we want to recognize and um our student reps already talked about josie and uh for that great akash accomplishment with the wrestling
program but i also wanted to mention that cody gable and zach elishevsky also qualified for the state tournament this past weekend uh zach didn't place but cody did place second so he lost a heartbreaker on saturday night uh that was a tough one um but uh fantastic season um second place and and so congratulations to him zach and josie um and the wrestling program had had a fantastic year but they're not the only ones our mukwonago high school cheer team congratulations to them they placed first in their division at the wisconsin association of cheer and palm coaches state competition in oshkosh and that is the first time that our cheer team has placed first and brought home that state title so congratulations to them february is career and technical education month and we have a
couple of our cte programs our extracurricular programs that have been doing a fantastic job first deca our mhs deca students competed in their state competition in lake geneva last week as you probably know deca prepares emerging student leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing finance hospitality and management in high schools and colleges there were over 1 000 students from high schools across the state at this competition and our kids did extremely well mhs students uh caitlin henning and olivia sweene took sixth place in the competition and qualified for the national international competition at atlanta georgia at the end of april um our hosa group which is health occupations students of america 62 of our mhs hosa students recently competed at the regional competition 49 of them qualified for the state competition which is at chula vista in
the dells in april and i want to compliment our advisors for those programs the decade advisor is john bolejas and our hosa advisors are christy peterson emily stewart those are some fantastic teachers in our cte program at mhs and then we also want to mention our gymnastics team last thursday night we had gymnastics sectionals and they we hosted that event as a matter of fact and they our gymnast placed second and so they qualified as a team for the comp state competition in wisconsin rapids this weekend and then i believe i have this right although i'll confirm it for you guys and get back into email but jenna connects her senior jenna i think she took second in the all-around and so she qualified as an individual as well and i think sam burgs qualified
sophomore at mhs in the floor and the beam but i need to confirm that so really some fantastic things going on across the district as you saw with our big bend students and also the groups that our student reps mentioned and i just mentioned i think that's it all right great at this point i would entertain a motion to head into executive session no motion second cherry if you could roll call us pat erica yes mary yes joel yes art yes little oop great yes jill
