001Flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. Um looking for a motion on the consent agenda on A and B and C and D. We're going to talk about close session. >> I'll make the motion. >> Second. >> I'll second that. All in favor? >> Motion's pass. All right. Moving right into uh monthly celebrations. Scott. Okay. Thank you. Uh board members and guests this evening. Welcome to our January regular meeting. uh proudly recognized the students from our elementary and intermediate middle schools for the December uh monthly celebration. Students demonstrating outstanding characteristics and represented themselves in the bulldog way. Congratulations to all students and staff that recommended students for that recognition through their building principal. Uh
002district events and calendar recognizing the month of of January. Uh tonight we have our regular board meeting. Uh we'll note that uh tomorrow's the end of the first semester second quarter. Um on Friday we have a professional learning day which will take place throughout the uh the district. Uh traditionally it's been used in that transition from first semester to second semester and then u as we prepare accordingly. Um I'll just say one item here. I don't know if we might be talking about senstock or not but uh big festival on on sat Friday and Saturday going on. Uh our board members uh we have five of us that will be attending all in part of the WHB annual conference down in Milwaukee next week. Look forward to bringing back plenty of great ideas and uh
003collaborating with other fellow board members and administrators from around the state. And just on that note, I sent out a email to all of members that are attending. Um, if you have any specific questions, let me know. We'll early next week, we'll get uh things online for our uh event down there. End of the month, special board meeting on the 28th. Uh, we'll wrap up the month and then end of February. Just a couple highlights. Our seniors will be preparing for the last scholarships to take place early February and then our two meetings on the 11th and 25th of February. the superintendent of the district administrator report again recognizing end of the semester and how important that milestone is that we are just about there and what that means for for all grade levels and
004their academic growth gain. One would think we should be you know halfway through the year and students are right on track to uh reach their goals which we're always striving for. Uh the second semester is when a lot of our uh goals and initiatives and priorities really come together for students at all grade levels. Uh, one item that I'd like to recognize as well, the end of the semester board, you recognized the early graduates and uh, and I was at the high school last week meeting with the staff and encouraged them as well to really thank that senior class members that are graduating early and what that means for them and the support that they brought forward to do just that. Schoolboard elections uh, have been set for the spring and April 7th, 2026. Uh
005we have two candidates that will be running for two seats. John Haidman and uh New London resident Jeff Galbroen. Um John and Jeff uh their names have been submitted to the local counties, municipalities that support our election polling places and their names will be on the ballot as we move into the month of April. No primary needed. January is board of education recognition month. I know you guys look for celebrations for yourself all the time. Just kidding. But it is it's something that's recognized uh um throughout uh school board education recognition month and just want to say uh thank you uh to all of our board members and what you do um to support education in the school district in London and education in the state of Wisconsin as we look to do great things
006every day we can. in Lesie the uh B212 extra degree of effort. Uh great example over the past few days our our weather has gone from seasonably warm to tomorrow seasonably cold and everything in between. And if you have been out on any of our paved surfaces, you know that they're always in very good shape. and uh Patrick Cor is one of the key to seeing that through, keeping our parking lot sidewalks safe, clear, and uh free of ice and snow when when appropriate, and we really appreciate what Mr. Corf does on a daily basis. His hard work um is really appreciated and exemplifies the Bulldog spirit of giving that extra effort. Any questions for myself this month's report? Okay, thank you. >> Right, moving on. Joe. Okay, good evening board members, committee members. [clears
007throat] Uh, tonight I just had one section in my director report related to the facility committee meeting that we had in December. There were eight topics that we spent a lot of time discussing that meeting. You will see a few of those topics sprinkled through our future agendas. For example, tonight the discussion is on the agenda. One item that I wanted to point out as some of you are heading down to Milwaukee to the convention. One of the topics that we had on there was review and discussion of our 10-year capital project plan. Uh the last study that we did was in the 201718 school year and it was a great study. really helped us um have some guidance points of where that referendum um had some benchmarks and uh we don't need to do
008a new plan, but we want to be able to put together another 10-year plan and what that would look like. And at that committee meeting, we talked about various options to do that. And down at the convention, there will be some companies that are able to do that. So, as you're perusing booths, uh, feel free to check in with any of them and just hear what their story is because it's always about finding the right fit for what we are looking to do in New London. Um, doesn't mean we have to do something new. Could be what we've done in the past, but it's really good opportunity to re-engage ourselves in that discussion because that plan really is our guide to what our facilities and the dates that we are that look like and that
009company just for the rest of the board's knowledge that company the way it existed isn't there anymore >> in in that auction. >> Yes. >> Were there any other questions about any of the topics we had at our facility meeting? >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Services report. board [clears throat] and community. Um, got a few things for you this month. We're very excited that when it became January, it was time to start our enrollment for 4K. So, we already started looking towards um our youngest bulldogs joining us. And um something kind of new this year, we have um their ability to uh register as they always have paper registration, but they can also do that online um just as we normally do for new families that come in. So, that's an option. But
010we have lots of events for them to come [clears throat] into the school and get to know um you know the building and the secretary and um and the staff there and then um other events scheduled out in the community too and in our schools for us to get them enrolled. So, we're looking forward to that happening. If anyone um has a child that's going to be turning four or has turned four before September 1st, we are looking forward to them being in our 4K U program this coming school year. So um the second uh thing I wanted to let you know about, we're pretty excited about um some work that we're doing kind of as a part of the continuous improvement. we had an opportunity with um some guidance and facilitation from CISA 6
011uh to begin the um work of looking very closely at our mental health and mental um wellness what we're doing districtwide and so see in December we had a group of folks that got together and we started began that work we met for several hours and uh we're looking to look very carefully at everything that we're doing um with from the youngest students all the way to the oldest students and staff and our entire learning community. So, we're looking carefully um at that and our the people that were on that team. It included our people services team members. That was that includes our school counselors, our school psychologist, our school social worker, our school nurse, our program support teacher. Um all of our administrators represented there and um our directors and um a team that
012was really committed to making sure that we have our mental health a comprehensive mental health framework in place and um looking for any gaps or um places where we can make enhancements. Um we know that when we have a comprehensive mental health framework in place that it um results in increased graduation rates, [cough and clears throat] higher student engagement and connectedness to school, improved academic achievement and a decreased need for called um restrictive placement. Um, also we know that this benefits students and staff because there could be increased access to mental health care and positive social and emotional outcomes and just an improved school climate overall. So, we are really um thankful for everyone to invest their time in this and we'll keep you posted because I know I'll have some updates kind of to
013follow from that, but that work has begun. And then um one other area of collaboration we recently um started right what what will be regular meetings with Waka County um department of human services the directors and managers there and um it's a great opportunity for us to connect and just kind of be a little bit closer so that we are able when we need to you know connect and rely on each other that way we can best meet student family needs and so this was a great opportunity for us all to kind of some of us it was a refresher And then some of us it was really some newer information. Us letting them know more about our system and then them letting us know more about theirs. But um just was going to speak
014some of the programs that they offer. Not just with Waka County, all counties offer these. And of course we are so fortunate we have three. We're an abundant counties in the school district of New London. Um, but they have a birth three program, children's long-term support program, coordinated services teams program, comprehensive community services, child protective services, youth justice, foster and kinship care. Those are only just a few that might pertain more to our students and families. And um if a family or you if you know someone that might be needing some of those, you know, connection with those um you don't have to worry about which exact program or what the resource might be. There's just kind of a general contact that you make and then they help to sort through what things um might
015be the right fit for the student. All right. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. Thank you. Director of teaching learning department. >> Good evening board. [clears throat] Excuse me. Um, the high school kicked off the back to school after the break with a future freshman night in your packet. It says January 7th. It was actually on January 5th. I'm not sure why I have that date wrong. But that first Monday night back, they invited all of the eighth graders and the incoming ninth graders to come and learn all about that high school and all the opportunities that exist there. The student body took a real active um role in it and were the hosts and talked about their clubs and even spoken from the auditorium about their experience at the high school and offered some advice.
016It was a very positive night. There was lots of great feedback from it. So kudos to the high school staff and students for all their work in that idea of welcoming in those ninth graders. The more someone can take advantage of things right away when they enter high school, the better that experience is going to be. So starting off in those clubs, starting off with those connections is always important. So it was a very important night. Kudos to that those folks. [clears throat] In December, we had a meeting of um alternative education folks within the school district. So, in our high school, we have our NextGen Academy, and we have many other ways that we support students who come to us um having had um experiences middle school and elementary school where maybe their attendance
017wasn't great or they really struggled with classes or with accomplishing work and had some barriers in their way. and the program that works with that um at the middle school. Those people met with people at the high school to come together to talk about how we can make the transition for students who um struggle with just traditional school and how it works on a daily basis, how we can transition them into that high school environment and support them the best way we can. This meeting hasn't happened um in the past, I don't believe. And so this was a really nice way for us to make sure that that transition for our incoming nth graders is successful. So, lots of concentration on nth graders, incoming ninth graders over the last couple months. And then, of course,
018um I have your instructional insight over this month. And this is I want to talk to you about MLSS. So, that stands for multi-level systems of support. In the past, this had been referred to as RTI or response to intervention. So MLSS is our system in the district of making sure that our students have high quality um tier one instruction or high quality universal instruction and when necessary using data diagnostic and teacher input we make sure that they have extra supports through small group instruction um and then move them if necessary into a very small group or individualized called tier three instruction to if they are in need of that. The MLS MLSS system at New London has been established for a very long time and we have a group that's actually in the process
019of reviewing our process to make sure that we are covering all of our bases and we are meeting all the needs of our students and that work is happening right now. So, I thought that was the appropriate time to uh give you another piece of alphabet alphabet soup from the education world, but MLSS is the time. Any questions? >> Thank you. >> All right, Charles. >> Good evening, everyone. I'm going to take some time to highlight some of the successes and accomplishments of the high school students that we've had recently. Starting off with Showquire. This past Saturday, uh, Showquire traveled to Toma and took third place at their competition. Jake Flocker, he earned best soloist. And also after that, um, accomplishment, Mr. Rambo and Mr. Spindler talked to WHPY about Singtock, which Mr. Black said
020is coming up this weekend where nine high schools will be competing for grand champion um, Saturday night. uh ending with the um vision show new London and showquire performing their show for the first time in front of a home crowd. Also, boys basketball, they won last night at Shao by 37. They're currently on a fivegame winning streak and their next game is Tuesday at Winon, which is going to be a big conference game for them. And then girls basketball, they they were home against Shao last night, which hasn't happened in a few years, so that was a very big conference win for them. and their next game is Friday at Green Bay East. Wrestling, they had the Cutler Classic on Saturday. Uh there's a lot of success across the board for all um divisions and
021genders. The girls team took first and Caroline Christopher was voted the most outstanding female wrestler. And also on the guys side, Preston Kger got his 100. [cough] Uh winners of their respective weight classes were Justin Gonzalez, Anthony Brandt, Leah Grundy, Carolyn Christopher Brin, Will Christopher, and Preston Kger. So, a lot of success from the wrestlers at the Color Classic who will also be wrestling tomorrow at uh the high school against Seymour. Ice fishing, there are 40 members on the team. They had a competition this past weekend in Waka and they have another one in Waka on this Saturday. There are several other tournaments uh throughout the season before wrapping up their season at the state tournament in Waka on February 21st. Also on this past Saturday, which was a very busy day for our high
022school, 21 students competed at regionals for BA at Bayport for DECA and 10 of them earned a medal or placed in their competition, which means that they will be attending DECA state at Lake Geneva at the end of February. 40 students were competing for HOSA at HOSA regionals um virtually by uh arriving at the high school and then logging in and competing for their respective competitions. and students will be finding out in the coming weeks if they advance to the state um hosta competition or not. And New London has historically had a lot of success at the regionals uh where we send dozens of kids to the state meet every year for HOSA. Uh as Mrs. McCartney said, future freshman night was January 5th. Uh special thank you to Bulldog peer mentors, Mrs. Shmer and
023Miss Brigel for leading the charge of welcoming the new or next year's freshman to the high school. Uh the future freshmen were able to meet their teachers, learn the layout of the school, and learn more about the clubs and activities offered at the high school. And then as Mr. Ble said, the end of semester is tomorrow. So a special thank you to all the teachers and staff that have helped all the students for the past few months, as well as to the students for working hard and ending the grading period on a strong note. So any questions from anyone? >> I'll just make a comment from your first um mention of Mr. Rambo and Spindler on WHPY yesterday. I didn't even know they were coming in. I started at WTY 28 years ago. I did
024not know Haley saves a spot for community connections every single week. And Mr. Rambo is a huge [cough] a huge listener. So, I have to give him total credit because he gave New London big props like he facilitated himself. I just happen to be walking through the lobby >> like I'll get pictures of you guys because how awesome that >> Yeah. >> he's promoting New London and she's like we love them. They can come back anytime. So, what a great way to advertise. There's a picture on Facebook of them. >> Yeah. >> In the studio that >> I'm like, let's get some pictures and crossromote. So, but I didn't realize like show choir is not a big deal in the Appleton schools and Haley is originally from Hortonville was in their show choir and she
025has a lot of New London connections and she was like they can come on anytime. But I just how great for Mr. Ramble to seek that out on his own and >> give New London some extra. >> Cool. >> Very nice. All right, moving right in, Joe. Okay, for the vouchers for the month, I just had one, but it also ties directly to the receipt. So, RJM Construction this project out there. Remember, that's a plus and minus. It's coming from our fund capital fund. They're getting close to the end of the project there. Ryan was out there today working on some punch list items. So, the project is as planned and Doug Wonderlick stopped over uh the holiday season and was working through his final work for plumbing and we'll come back in the spring
026to turn the water on when we're ready to have our spring sports season. So, that was one of the vouchers for the month. The receipts, this is the time of the year where we are finishing up our line of credit dispersements. We had uh two that we use for our cash flow purposes and then now that the tax checks come in this time of year, we're able to pay off that line of credit. And then we had a Wisconsin surplus auction in November December timeline where we sold some items. So that receipt is also noted there. We had no legal expenses for the month to highlight. Any questions? Looking for a motion to approve expenditures in the amount of $993,555 and six cents as per the list. >> I'll make a motion. >> We have
027a second. >> I'll second that. >> Um roll call. >> Kayen. Yes. Or >> yes. John, >> yes. Chris Martin. Chris. Chris Martin. I think we I think we lost your volume again. Thumbs up. >> Yes. >> Oh, there we go. All right. >> I mean, yes. Andy Thorp. >> Yes. For receipts, record record receipts from the receipt register of January 7th, 2026 [clears throat] in the amount of 1,511,1.37. >> I'll make that motion. >> No further proceed. >> Just an acknowledgement. >> Um, no unfinished business. Moving on to new business. Joe, you're up again. board members. Uh this is typically when we present the budget uh development calendar. If you have been reading any of the articles that come out, districts and organizations are setting the the budget stage, if you will, for the
028next fiscal year and what that looks like and New London has a very impactful process and which has been able to stand the test of time as to how we go about developing our budget. Mr. Mark, >> yes, this calendar is very common. you'd see in many school districts across the state. We use this as our framework to you know have our process for the budget. Typically in the in the bianium year where we're already in the first year of the benium there's not a lot of activity and changes. However, the last week or so, if you've been watching the news, I'm not sure if it will actually happen, but they're talking about, do they come to a compromise and change how the equalization aid was not increased this year because it had such an
029impact on property taxes [clears throat] throughout the state. Many communities are wondering why there was more discussion about categorical aid as it related to special education and how it was [cough] at 42% [clears throat] and it actually would be less than that somewhere between 35 and 38% is what we're hearing. So there's just a lot of discussion about how the benium budget may not have landed how Paul had hoped. That said, changing it mid mid year mid cycle seems out of the ordinary but can happen at any time. If that indeed would happen, we would bring that information to board members so we can process it and we can as well as how it might impact the budget. >> Any questions on the calendar move right into building roof replacement. So board membersh within your
030materials are the uh the bid recommendations that have come forth through our uh facilities committee which recently met and Mr. Mar will share the the findings from the bid process and a recommendation to consider for potential approval for summer work. >> So as the committee has reviewed the bids the last couple of years, this will be the third year in a row we've been working on high school roofing projects. It's been a planned process for us. That's part of our referendum funds to continue to update the high school roof and we're pleased to bring forward the recommendation for the bids. Uh they would be Northern Metal and Roofing. They had the lowest bid. They have worked with the project on all sections of the roof and if approved tonight with both base and the AD,
031it would complete the high school roof project during the 2026. Uh we've asked one followup question the committee asked to Northern Metal is okay this is a little bit bigger of a project. Are you able to devote manpower and time to that? And they assured that they said that they know that they need to continue to demonstrate that they have the capacity to do the project within the timeline that we have. Um there's a possibility they may do some work over spring break if there's if the weather allows it. It's at the end of March this year, they may be able to to get us started on it, but they're prepared to complete the project in its entirety within the timeline knowing that school starts and most sections are right above our main academic wing.
032So, it's definitely something that we need to get done before kids would return. committee members that were there. Any any followup? Pretty cut and dry. Okay. Nothing. Anybody else? >> All right. Looking for a motion to approve the 2026 building roof replacement as presented. >> I'll make a motion. >> Okay. Yes. Mark. >> Yes. >> John. >> Yes. >> Harris Martinson. >> Yeah. I mean, >> yes. All right. discussion on high school principal hiring timeline. Scott, >> yeah, thank you. Board members and and community members that are joining us tonight. Um, I think [clears throat] it's important that we talk about an upcoming process that'll be uh hopefully starting tomorrow with a potential posting. As we know that as we started the academic year, um, our high school admin team uh took on a different
033roles to support us this year with interim principles with Mr. Shawer and Mr. and I want to personally thank both of the gentlemen as well as anyone else that is in the the high school office and supporting us the process done an outstanding job. But at that time it was also communicated when we reached the month of December anticipated we would start talking about what that process would look like to identify our our next high school principal. So, what I put together is just some framework that I'm recommending uh to everyone to to understand and know and be aware of uh for all members of our of our community. Um board members and staff that uh may have received this have been on the high school and our leadership team. Um it's no easy task
034to identify the next leader of our high school. All right. And that's a process that we we'll take our time with, make best decisions, gather feedback, um, and then ultimately bring forward a recommendation for the full board to uh to consider. And, uh, if our work on our end is is done on the front end and uh, we find that person, well, that'll be a celebration for the district as a whole as we move forward. So, with that, the uh the timeline of what we're looking for is uh the potential posting uh to go out tomorrow this week um and be posted out as the high school principal position for New London High School. Uh that posting would last about two weeks, take us to January 29th. And then that interview process in which we
035would look to implement in early February. Uh depending of internal review of candidates looking at February 4th or fifth for an interview first round interview with potential candidates and then ultimately that midFebruary a candidate of choice or two uh being presented to our board uh for that second round interview. Now that midFebruary timeline I have February 10th or 12th. The 11th is when we have our meeting. Okay. And uh and I'm just uh you know if there was a consensus of the 10th or 12th and we don't need to decide that now. Uh but that was the the timing that uh that we were looking at. Is there any any objections or is there a recommendation the 10th or the 12th? I know Nate's not here uh tonight to to give feedback or anybody leaning
036one way or another with uh what day that might look like best for for each of you. >> Either one's fine with me. >> Is it normal to push it that as far as be that expedient in that process? It seems like the timeline's pretty tight. >> Um you know that uh I think it's well within >> Okay. you know, a process there, you know, within that. >> Okay. >> Um, [clears throat] from a >> excuse me, >> I was going to ask you. >> Go ahead. [clears throat] >> Yeah, I'll I'll bust you through it. Go ahead. Okay. >> Um, kind of in relation to John's John's question, too. Um do you foresee any board act need of any board activity between the whether we meet on the 10th and we do the interview
03710th and 12th and then at our 25th uh board meeting. >> So this is how I envision the uh the interview teams as being established. Last week I was at the high school and gave them an overview of the timeline as well and shared feedback as to what that may look like. So I I envision the interview team being our director team, representation from our admin team, okay? Because obviously the the feedback that this person would be working collaborative with them as well, representation from our high school staff, uh you know, core subject electives and maybe one of our specials within that. And then uh as well uh if there is a board presence that would like to be part of this first um process, I I I suggest to recommend that wouldn't be a
038bad idea. I you know just to to be the conduit from the first interview to the second interview. You know we're going to pride ourselves in being open and transparent and communicative with every step of the way. that would allow our our board member that is part of that to to continually share that feedback through myself as well when we align that second interview. So, as I actually able to chat with Mr. heman earlier today uh on that process. If if there is interest, you know, I I think [clears throat] one one member at that stage would be appropriate knowing that the full board would have that opportunity on the second day or of the second round of interviews. But after that second round of interviews, do you foresee any any possibility of having the
039board to be involved in in subsequent interviews or because according to your timeline then looks like you know we we'd be making a you'd bring a recommendation to us then right >> on the 25th. So the what typically would work is after that second interview on the 10th or 12th of February where the full board uh meets with the candidate or candidates you know concluding that um you know there's there's a built built-in consensus of a of a of a candidate you know that we will look to identify from that and then if that is secured I would then work with the candidate to uh through that negotiate piece of what the contract may look like. this is what we have to offer. These are the parameters of what that looks like with that board
040insight, you know, being shared with me following our interview process so that I could work with the candidate and then if agreement was recognized from the candidate that formal board approval on the 25th. So in the perfect world, the 10th we uh interview a candidate or candidates following that consensus on the number one or number two if if that's part of it and then consensus as to what that uh offer might look like and or the timeline to bring something forward for the board for the 25th. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, do you ever like how long I was thinking do you ever just meet at like five prior to the board meeting or like how I don't know how long it takes? >> Um I I don't >> for that interview. >> Yeah, for
041the interview. Like is it are you looking at more than one person? Is that what you're thinking? >> Uh to be determined. So I guess for for board members uh if you remember when we went through the process with Mrs. McCartney and with Mrs. Johnson that that interview and where both of those individuals came forward that that's probably that's what it would kind of replicate. >> Yeah. >> I don't know if I'd want to try and get that done before a board meeting because it really put some constraints. >> I shared with Scott I'd like I'd like to see more board involvement in the process from start to finish. Um, but that being said, I know a lot of people have too many things on their plate already and I'm I'm not trying to dump
042this on anybody on top of what they already have. If if anybody's interested in being part of that process, just reach out to me and we'll make a plan going forward. >> I'll leave it at that. >> Can you the 10th or the 12th? Like, can you have a quorum or do you need absolutely everybody >> for the 10th or the 12th? Yeah, >> we would we would want at least a quart. Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. Right. >> My son's 16th birthday is the 12th. So, we had plans. >> The 10th is today. >> No, don't plan around me. I'm saying that's what exactly what I'm saying. Do not plan around me. >> You can't do it without a quorum. >> Yeah, you could. You wouldn't have to have the full board, you
043know. That's >> So, any other thoughts on that on that process? Um, I'm very I'm excited to see what comes forward uh for candidates to uh have that opportunity and I know our our high school staff is is ready as well to assist in this process as we move forward. >> Uh I have a suggest >> John. >> Yeah, I can hear you. >> Okay. I I know. But Scott, you uh you're suggesting board member. As I think about it, uh how about two? I hope we had at least two board members to that u that early interview and the first round. >> You know, ultimately the board uh you know sets the sets the rule. I I I felt that one would be sufficient, but if if if if two is the recommendation. Um
044>> I'm not sure if we'll have two that volunteer for it, but if >> if two volunteer or three, I think that can be accommodated, but I guess [clears throat] at this point, I'd be surprised if if that many people want to do it because of their schedules. But >> yeah, I I think that can be accommodated pretty easily. So, I guess we'll see who volunteers, who wants to be part of it. >> Scott, for that second interview process, would the 17th or the 19th be an option >> or is that too close to that next meeting? >> It's uh I'm not this these are just the the corresponding dates that were put down. So, prior to the next board meeting, you know, that I guess that's the ultimate goal. Okay. And then being able
045for the individual to if we are if we do get the consensus on a candidate, >> they're going to have to process, you know, is this something that they see as, you know, appropriate as well. So, >> all right. >> So, but if you have a conflict or whatnot, just let me know. Or with that, >> I can I can I can tell you now that I'll I'll be interested in doing the first and second process, [cough] but I can't do it if it's going to be moved to the week of the of those dates because we we're making some plans out of town. Okay. And I guess I'll wait and hear wait to hear who else is interested. >> All right, we will get the >> my schedule allows. I'd like to be a
046part of that. >> We'll get the process. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Sounds good. Moving on. Review and potential approval of open enrollment space availability. Sarah Johnson. >> Mrs. Johnson will present the annual recommendation for the board to consider on space availability. Uh this is something that uh we're obligated to do to let our uh community members and people that are seeking enrollment to our district as our availability is fixed. Mr. Johnson, >> that's right. Well, I know um open enrollment is important to all of us and we hope to have as many um you know families moving in or wanting to um take advantage of open enrollment as possible. And um so we have um done the process of looking at our current enrollment and um spaces that are available to us, look
047for the current enrollment given our current staffing and have established those thresholds and looked at um our capacity to be able to accept um students for the upcoming school year. And so this is all u aligned with what we have done in previous years as well. So it's looking like we are able to stay remain open for students who are um regular education students in all um grades and spaces in in buildings and in um you see that reflected in the regular education um grades there for those to be open. And then on the next page, we look very carefully at all of the areas in special education that we provide as a district. So different types of special education teachers and then also the therapies that we provide um as a district. And um
048as well looking at the thresholds that we have for for class sizes and case load sizes. Um we currently we know would project that we would not be able to um to have any openings at those levels for next year. So we closed we recommend that that the board would take action to be closed for special education. Um and that is also consistent with what we have done before. Yeah. Any questions? Yeah. >> I know the proposed motion's kind of lengthy in there, but >> All right, let me read that through. Can I simplify it? Mark, what does it mean? >> Do you want me to read what I have on here, John? >> Go ahead. um to accept regular education open enrollment student applications for the 26 27 academic year while recognizing that student
049special education open enrollment requests will be denied due to [music] existing staffing capacity limitations. >> I'll make a motion for that. >> I'll second it. >> All in favor? >> I >> opposed. Thanks, sir. Motion passes. Moving on, review and potential approval of school district business partner of the year nominations. So board members, uh I think it was back in November, we brought forward this this topic with our revised process to identify a school business partner of of the year. And uh I know we talked about one of these uh organizations at that time, but then board members were asked to to share if you had any other feedback. uh two that came forward that kind of were brought to brought to the top um were Shamrock Heights Golf Course and New London Building Supply.
050Two great organizations that that support our district in their own capacity. You've heard Mr. Slma talk about Jammark Heights in the sense of how they supported girls golf with their inaugural season and long longgoing relationship with boys golf uh through the years supporting cross country with the sectional competition in the past year or so. And then with uh not slipping a bit, New London Building Supply who has been part of our concession stand built in supporting and working with um Mr. Markwart and our local vendors that took on the responsibility to uh great create this great space as well as past um work within the if you're in the high school commons the trophy case exemplifies the the workmanship and the raw materials that have come from the building supply and other donations from clubs
051organizations throughout the district have been met. So uh it's the board's decision. I think they're two great organizations and businesses within our community. Um, they both do great things. So, it's up to you. >> Can you refresh our memory on the New London building supply when we were initially getting started on the plans for the restroom [clears throat] you met like I can't remember how that went and you met with >> So, we went out remember we had original drawing set from Somerville and we went a different direction. So I went down and met with Chris Garu and just kind of talked to him about what we were looking for and just honestly I just drew it on a piece of paper and he took that and then he put it into his system to
052make that drawing that we sent out for bids for the project >> and he did not charge us for that. >> No. >> Okay. That's what I was thinking. >> Honestly, they're both very very well deserving of this. Um, I look back at what Shamrock Heights has done for us over the last few years and they they've been a part of our program for a very long time and I guess if I'm if I'm biased a little bit, >> yeah. >> Well, and I don't have any I mean I think they're both great. I guess the timeliness with the launch of girls golf probably makes sense >> with recognizing Shamrock, but I don't want to >> but I definitely want to keep this list for next year because >> well that's what I was thinking
053too. >> Both of them are well deserved. >> That's what I was thinking that maybe Shamrock this year and then next year when the community has had an opportunity to utilize the bathrooms then >> very timely. >> Yeah, >> both are timely then. >> Yeah. I'll make a motion for Go ahead, Andy. >> I like what you said there. That That option sounds like it makes the most sense. >> I agree. >> I'll make a motion that we we nominate or we choose um Shamrock Heights Golf Course. >> Do I have a second? >> I'll second it. >> Andy, >> all in favor? >> I post >> I. >> Motion passes. my board members. What I'll do is I'll reach out to Shamark Heights between now and our our next meeting and see see if
054we can't coordinate a time for them to come in and recognize them publicly as we have in the past uh with some uh little PR if you will for saying thank you to how they support our district. So whether it be at our uh January regular meeting, excuse me, special meeting or the February regular meeting, whichever works in their schedule. No. >> All right. Very good. >> Nothing further. Looking for a motion to go into close session. >> I like that motion. >> Second. >> You're going to want to read those. >> Okay. Pursuant to section 19.851c Wisconsin statutes. Do I have a motion on all those to go into close session? >> I'll make a motion. >> Second. All >> in favor? >> Nope. Roll call. >> Roll call. Sorry. >> Okay. Um K9. >> Yes. Carson. >> Yes. >> John Hman. >> Yes. >> Chris Martinson. >> Yes. Andy Thor. >> Yes. Okay, we're in close session at 652. >> Thank you everyone for attending. >> Thanks also has their crab red pizzas tonight. >> It's good stuff, huh? I get the weekly updates. uh you know and so I've had never gone
