prayer, it means so much to us. It's fantastic. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you so much. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Byebye. >> Thank you again. >> This is it. >> Yeah. We're not >> No, it's it's public. We We're just not recognizing >> Nobody Nobody's mad at us. >> No. Yes. And we are live. >> They trust us to do our job. >> Well, and we when we recognize uh we'll be recognizing girls basketball. When we're recognizing folks, it fills up very quickly. So, but but when we're doing like a work session beforehand, we just So, but >> yeah. >> Thank you. >> Always open. You're welcome to come. That goes for anyone listening on YouTube. >> At this time, we will call a meeting to order. Roll call. >> Here. >>
Miss Morrison >> here. >> Mr. Kennedy >> here. >> Mr. >> I am present. >> Miss what? >> He is here. At this time, could we get approval for the agenda? We need a motion. Uh, I want to make a motion that we amend the agenda to uh remove article 8B. So move. >> Get a second. >> Second. >> No discussion. Therefore, all in favor, let it be known by yay. >> Yay. >> All agree. >> Yes. >> Thank you. At this time, we will approve the minutes of January 13, 2026, Jackson City School Board meeting. So move. >> Second. >> Okay. Any discussion? Not. The motion stand approved. All in favor? Let it be known by yay. >> Yay. >> Motion approved. >> At this time, superintendent will come before us with the financial
report. Yes, you have before you the monthly financial statements um exhibits F1A through F3C for December 31st, 2025. Uh combined bank reconciliation at December 31, 2025 with combined reconciled balance 7,344,339.93. Um this is the reconciled balance for all operating accounts Jacksonville city schools which includes the two local schools and the child nutrition program accounts payable register accountability report for December 2025 with total expenditures of $47,97561 and that's uh from your state fund source $142,42469 federal fund source $89,520 and local fund source $176,30.72. Um each check is listed by check number, vendor name, includes a description based on the object code in front of you. Also um present to you as required by the state department uh with monthly financial exhibits F1A through F3C for January 31, 2026. combined bank reconciliation at January 31, 2026 with
a combined reconciled balance of 8,89,51427. Uh this is the reconciled balance for all operating accounts of Jacksonville City Schools, which includes two local schools and the child nutrition program. Accounts payable check register accountability report for January 2026 with total expenditures of $299,548.91. State fund source 130,92712. Federal fund source $70,32957 and local fund source $98,2922. Each check is listed by check number, vendor name, and includes a description based on the object code before you. >> I'll make a motion to accept the >> second >> accounts payable and payroll. Any discussion? Not the motion stand as approved subject to audit. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Therefore, the motion stand approved is subject to audit. I'm sorry. I'm going to move back up to public comments on the agenda item. >> No. >> Thank you. At
this time, >> Wow. No one signed it. >> I need y'all to make some mistakes after the, you know, so I Yeah, I'm not I'm just messing with you. Superintendent's report and new business. >> All right. Before I get started and make make another mistake or two here, um I want to make a recommendation to revise the Jacksonville City School um 2526 supplement schedule. um in that there is a coaching change in softball >> and um the person that we had doing it was able to secure a position um somewhere else to help out I think at the college and so we're placing another person in there and uh so that's what is before you on that. So I make a recommendation to revise the Jacksonville City uh school 2025 2026 supplemental schedule move second.
>> It has been moved and properly second. Are there any discussion? vote. All in favor, let it be known by I. I. >> Going on to the next item, item C. It's a recommendation to surplus old floor cleaning equipment um at Jacksonville High School and remove it from inventory. I did get a little bit of history on this. It's been sitting for about 5 years. We really need it out of the way. I don't know the backstory on all of it, but it will be on gov.deals deals because we have someone who works here that um is very good at putting things on uh gov.de deals and so I anticipated a question or two about that and so um I just wanted to let you know it has been sitting for about five years and
um we're using other equipment now move >> second any discussion none okay all in favor let it be known by >> I >> going on to the next item item D recommendation to award bid number 25-26-BOE-1 landscaping work to A&W lawn care as they were the low bidder effective March 1st 2026 we had two biders um at A&W um is the lawn service that has been doing uh that work for us move >> second are there any discussion discussion all in favor let it be known Say it. >> I I >> Next item is item E, recommendation to approve the Jacksonville City Schools 20 26 2027 school calendar. We did um have a calendar committee meet. Um we had uh Miss Watson serve as your board liaison on that and appreciate her work and appreciate
our calendar committee coming together. We had two um options there. They went out to the schools. the schools were able to vote in um what we called option B which is before you uh had the largest number of votes for it. I believe it's a good calendar. I do. It is >> um it's a good academic calendar plus it gives um some flexibility on some uh days and so I'm I'm happy with the calendar. So move second. of any discussion. I would just like to say that I I appreciate Miss Watson for being a part and hopefully uh the teachers really had a lot of input in the calendar. >> They they had their representatives there and then the principles went back explained um and shared out calendars and then they had an opportunity to
individually vote on and it was unanimous on B. There were some that looked at option A, but um it was unanimous. >> Strongly unanimous. >> Uh fall break in service day on a Tuesday. That's a flex day. >> I question that too. >> There is. >> Yeah. Okay. Let me tell you how. All right. So, >> sure. Watch at home face like >> not forever. >> So, let me let me explain that to you and how that works. So the first the last five days of July, we're going to set up some professional development, system professional development that we'd like everyone to um to pick a day from and we will have to manage that and those will be for our teachers and then our teachers who are 9month employees. Um we can kind of
manage that. Um of course we'll have to document that they are here. But what that does is it flexes that day so that it's an inservice day. PD and rather than taking it during fall break, we can take it then. Now, for people who are on an extended contract, if they want that day, they'll have to take a day >> vacation. >> Um, they will have to take if you're a 12 month or 10 month, you don't fall into that category. >> So, myself, so you'll have to take a personal day, vacation day if you earn those. Um, and that's how that works. But >> Monday, >> that Monday is a holiday. >> It's a holiday. It is >> it falls into >> Columbus Day. >> I know it's Columbus Day, >> right? >> And
so >> that way though it does and and I like it because we can plan ahead and they have a choice and they can take one of those and you know they're already back in that mindset of coming back to school and I want to say we're not starting school back in July for the teachers. This is optional for them. Um, but I do think when the calendar went out and it was explained to them, they really embrace that and and it's it is a PD day that will be a full PD day just like the other one would be, but they just get it. And I like doing the PD at the beginning of school so that we can kind of focus on whether it's data or whatever it is, we can go ahead
and get ahead of it >> and really work on that. So, I think it's just a it's a win-win. I think the committee and those on the committee had a great idea with that. Uh, let me ask this now. >> Do we already have a football schedule for the fall? And is that Friday of fall break a ball game? >> Yeah, we're working on that. Um, and so I have to tell people this on that. Whenever it comes to athletics and and all of this, um, I would like to align everything with that. Um, but it doesn't always work out. Um, it's volunteer, you I mean you I I know I know and >> this year for the first time since I've been a band record >> is I had a ball break Friday night
off >> that's 39 years. >> Yeah. >> I I know and >> you know um >> we not have but you know >> still working on a little bit of that. So, but u okay that's the only question >> but but for the most part you know with the teachers um you know they really embraced embrace that and we would have done it on Monday but it is >> and as long as the teachers are happy >> if they're happy with it >> we happy >> right and and it doesn't cost the system and and you're accomplishing the same thing >> but to me you're coming out ahead on it because you're getting the PD at the front end of school starting um >> and I I like that. So, and it will be meaningful
PD. >> Absolutely. >> We'll have five days on that last week that they can pick one from. >> And from what I gather, the teachers really like the fact that that first day full day of school is for A through K students. >> And then the second day, the the last names, you know, I that teachers really like that, especially those younger kindergarten, first grade, first. But I think the older ones too and seventh graders trying to get into our lockers trying to get >> getting to know them don't have any days off. >> That's true. >> Let's believe. >> Absolutely. >> That's right. >> Okay. Need a motion. >> Football practice fan break. Everybody we got to practice. >> Okay. >> No. >> Can I get a motion, please? >> So move. >> Second.
>> It has been moved and properly second. All in favor? Let it be known by I. I >> I >> motion car. >> Personnel. You want to take them all? >> Recommend board approve personnel items uh A through E. >> So move. >> Second. >> It has been moved and properly second that we accept a superintendent recommendation for personnel. All in table let it be known by I. >> I. >> All motion approved. >> Our next >> if if I could just share a few things. um and for folks at home as well. And uh so I would love to have had the girls basketball team here tonight, but they're practicing. Um they're playing in um Friday in the regionals and they will be at the Pete at 6:00 on Friday playing. And so we're
looking forward to that game. I was at a conference um and out of town. So I appreciate all the updates. I was looking at my phone in a place I probably shouldn't have been looking at for the last two minutes that game. Um and I want to just stand up and cheer. Um um but uh again the girls are having a just a wonderful uh successful year and they are uh playing in the regionals but they I'm I'm so proud. The Coun County tournament um they brought that home for the girls after 13 years and so I did not know that it had been 13 years since they'd won. So that that was huge. So that's on the right and then the class 5 uh area uh to girls basketball uh 2526. So just so
proud of them and uh so we will have them at the next board meeting. We will recognize them at the next board meeting. So >> that is awesome. >> Um I know y'all went by to look at Kitty Stone, but again I know we may have some people watching and looking at Kitty Stone has just done a wonderful job. There are about 20 trees that they've planted out there but the landscaping is beautiful. The kids don't understand why we planted dead trees. Um they're asking why the dead trees and so they're about to learn about spring and uh they're going to learn uh that uh the trees are dormant. They are not dead. God, I'm so proud of this. Um they have finished the indoor um batting uh area for the girls softball team. It
is beautiful. It is beautiful. And again, what makes this project so special is a group of parents came together along with other people from our community. And that's what's wonderful about this. This is paid for. This was not something that you picked up a tab on. Um, and so I have asked the people responsible for doing this to come to a board meeting. They're like, "That's not why we did it." And I'm like, >> "Okay, but we still want to recognize you." So, uh, we're twisting the arm pretty good on on the folks who actually did this. But it is beautiful on the inside and the kids are taking just such great care of it. Um, and so they even down to hydra seating even down uh let me go past. Hang on. Uh the
sidewalk that's in front of this extends all the way out to concession. So it's new sidewalk. It's new everything. It's wonderful. So um extremely proud of that. Also I want to tell you a little bit about what's going on in baseball. Um, so all the locker rooms have been redone again. Um, we provided materials. Uh, all the labor was provided by the community. Um, they have a work day up there Saturday. The knee bridge, uh, the knee wall that's coming in, the poles are set. Um, that is on us, but again, we have a wonderful group of parents who are helping out up there. So, we will have some expense, but I'm going to tell you, it needed the netting. And why do it halfway? let's just go on and do it the right way.
Um we have the approval from the city that we can it's our it's our field and right >> um we're making improvements there and it means so much to the kids. Again um I want to the indoor batting area across straight across over there. I went in it got some pictures and the kids have cleaned the parents have cleaned. It looks wonderful. Um and one of the parents called me today and said, "You know, the kids have filled up um three vacuum cleaners, they vacuum it every time they use it." And I love that. So, it's just teaching that culture of come back come back clean and um you know, but the pride that is going in over there um the parents um we have a parent coming in and they're painting the bathrooms, the
concession. I mean, it's just such ownership and it's it's a wonderful thing. the mayor came over, wrote up with me, took a look at it, um, and did not even tell me he was going to do this, but he repaired the road going up. And so after he wrote, so Mayor Jones, thank you. >> Yes. >> Everyone just coming together and and helping out. >> I will ask something about getting >> ice seating. >> Yes. >> Okay. So, I understand and we can work on that. We have some bleachers that they're going to pressure wash and they're going to put down, but I agree. Um, and so we can definitely look at that. Um and so the Brian Jordan um program, we know that we had two uh winners last year, which is unheard of.
>> Yes. >> Um so we have another region six scholar athlete winner. >> And so Joe Kim, we're just so proud of her. >> Um she's brilliant, but also um plays three sports and so he is the region winner. So, we are going back down and that's huge. We're just so proud. So proud. So, and then I want to share and this is a graduate from our class of 2024, Marisol Cole. Um, I love the relationship that our administration has with our graduates. And so Marisol, who graduated in 2024, um is taking uh her oath to enter into the military, but is going um into the ROC program, is going on scholarship, going through the nursing program. And so she will come back out and then go through um officer training. And so we're just
so proud of her. And you know, we've talked about JOTC um and in meeting with Jacksonville. I shared that in an email. It may not be the best time. I talked to the national people. Got an email actually from them today. And so I'm not saying it's off the table, but they're doing Midwest things right now, but the scholarships are still there for our kids. Regardless of whether we have a JROTC program, scholarship offerings are there for our kids at JSU. And so that's a partnership that we are really working. And um so that's where this comes in um that you know, so we're just so proud of her. So just some things I wanted to share. We will have the basketball team with us, but I could not take them away from practice. They're
playing Friday and so we're, you know, we just didn't want to take away and uh but we are very very proud of the girls, proud of all of our kids. Um share a couple of dates with you. If you're not being able to pull up your system calendar, then we need to see our tech guys because I'm so scared that I'm going to leave something out. So, let me just run through a couple things. Um we have the academic honors program this Thursday at um 6 o'clock at Jacksonville High School. Um we have uh that on Friday of course um we have uh two uh Black History Month programs that are going to be starting at 9:15 for our students but everyone's welcome to that but that's at the high school. Um Friday also we
have >> what time Friday sir? >> They start at 9:15 and so when that one finishes up we'll bring in another group of kids afterwards. So, hate to tell you that it'll stop right on this minute and go because there may be some questions and we don't want to just cut the kids off, but um but the first one starts at 9:15 and the other one will start up whenever that one finishes. So, >> um also Friday um of course we have the regional tournament starts at 6 p.m. Um we play spring ball and we will be playing at the pee there um for you. >> Who I'm sorry, but who is that? Boys or girls or >> it's girls? >> Girls. >> And what time is that? That's at 6 o'clock Saturday. >> No,
that's Friday. >> Friday. >> And then um April 28th, I know that's on down the road, but um we are hosting the regional uh Special Olympics. We're excited about that. Um you know, all the kids are coming together. All of our groups are working together on that. Um whether it's our sports medicine class, I'm so proud of them. I had an opportunity to sit through one of their classes the other day and they're really running clinics in their class. Kids come in, they fill out the clinical work and then uh Coach P sees them and and works with them. But they're going to be there. All of our clubs, organizations, the city um we'll have folks from city there. Uh the schools will be working together and that will be at the high school. So,
um it's a it's a wonderful event. I hope that you'll uh really u if you can come on out. We'll take some great pictures of it if you're not um and share it with you at that board meeting too. I put this in front of you too. Um this is something Miss McCome's working on. And um just share it. If you know of a a place that you can actually place one of these, that's great. Miss Mcomes uh will be hosting this event um here at the central office. And um that is February 26, 8 to 3:30 for pastors and ministry leaders. Um really probably more youth pastors. Of course, we want our pastors here, too. But, um, we're going to do some mental health training so that they can be a resource for our
kids, too. And so, uh, great things going on. I appreciate y'all so much. Again, um, can't tell you how much I appreciate y'all allowing me to be your superintendent, but but just getting to work here. It's, uh, it's it's a wonderful opportunity and, uh, I just thank you so much. And I think that's all I have right now. And so, there's there always a million other things I can share. Oh, but let me say this because I'm sure Dr. Weights is going to be watching this. Some of you know, Dr. Weights sent you a pencil. Um, it is a Golden Eagle pencil. >> Yes, it is. >> And so, that's pretty cool. Uh, and so if you'll notice, it says golden eagle, but there is a golden eagle at the beginning of where it says
golden eagle. Some said it looked like a pitchfork. Some said it looked like an E, but it is a golden eagle. And so, uh, he wanted y'all to have that. And so he uh sends that to you tonight. So, >> and notice it's two and a half. >> Number two. >> That's nice. >> Just a little bit better than everybody. >> It is. >> There you go. >> Wow. Okay. I'll read it into that. Madam President, that's all I have. So, >> thank you, Dr. Barbara, for the updates. Uh, let's confirm the next board meeting. I was thinking March 10th or 17th so that we can get the we know we're scheduled on the calendar of the 19th so that we can get the teachers bill of rights in as soon as possible. So if
we could go with either date that's good for you all at 5:30. Will that give you enough? >> The 10th. >> Yes, sir. >> Works for me. >> It works for me. >> March 10th. >> What day of the week? Yes. >> Tuesday. Second Tuesday. >> Okay. >> Second Tuesday. >> All right. Is that good for everybody? So, the next board meeting is March 10th at 5:30 p.m. >> At this time, board members comments. Well, I have to just thank Coach Jennifer Young for all of her years of service to Kitty Stone and um meant the world to a lot of students and um I appreciate that so much. >> She was my dance partner when we went dancing with Alex. >> Remember that. >> Yeah. >> Yes. Well, I thank her and I hope
she enjoys retirement. >> Absolutely. Yeah, >> she will be missed and is missed already. >> Yes, she will be missed. >> Um, I attended the girls basketball game. Very exciting. They played hard. Those girls played hard. >> Oh, they did. That was such an >> They did a good job. Really proud of them. >> Yeah, I did hear. It was very intense. Very intense game. Anybody else want to come in? When I went through the high school gifts, oh my goodness, they had everything in >> these beautiful shirts we're wearing tonight >> is um compliments of our high school and then oh my goodness >> kitty stone. It was just awesome. >> So we definitely have cards tonight to leave so that they will get these cards from their >> We'll make sure that they
get those >> that we appreciate them. Any more comments? At this time, >> I'll make a motion to adjurnn. So move >> second. >> It has been moved and prop discussion. It has been moved and properly second that we adjourned at 559. Thank you. >> Thank you. No, I will be there
