Thank you for allowing us this evening to Recognize a long-standing fixture and

006st. Vrain Valley schools Bob Banning is st. Vrain Valley school district all the way yet. He believes maroon and silver He's taught at Niwot and coached taught and coached at Niwot skyline and Silver Creek He opened Silver Creek High School in 2001 but it's an interesting story of how he got there and a very quick story and I'll condense this is that he won a state championship and Boys basketball at Niwot High School in the 90s and he wanted to be the only coach to win both a boys and a girls state Championship of which there I believe is only one other coach who's done that in the history of Colorado athletics. Well three years into The program after having started freshmen and quickly making friends and enemies over there He brought his team to

007the top in the state But was given an opportunity to come and open the school at Silver Creek High School where he would go on to coach his His own son and where his son and daughter would graduate Well long story short those girls won the state championship the next year But Bob decided to come to Silver Creek where he's coached at Creek for 25 years He's coached numerous all-conference all-city all-state and all state academic athletes in his career He is amassed over 450 high school wins. He's had the honor of seeing his two children graduate with diplomas from Silver Creek He sent kids on to play collegiately and overseen a program which has routinely been amongst the best in the state year after year Decade after decade above all though. He's a family man

008and a gentleman warrior something that he instills in his athletes I'd also like to thank his wife who is here this evening Who is equally important and who has supported his career as a coach as she has? Numerous students and athletes in St. Vrain and she also taught in St. Vrain at Longmont Estates for many years And she has coached so many of our students in swimming She's been a tremendous supporter of our athletics program for many years and has taught generations of Longmont kids how to swim including my own She too has been a part of Raptor nation supporting our community for many years Bob served on my interview committee 15 years ago a point to which she still holds me accountable for to leave it in a better place than when you arrived

009He has overseen countless student teachers in their quest to become science teachers He has spearheaded advanced placement courses at Silver Creek and the inception of our advanced placement program And he supported many of his colleagues over the years I've been proud to call Bob Banning our coach our colleague my friend And I'd like to thank Bob for his many years of positively impacting athletics Academics and the greater SVBSD community, especially Silver Creek May your days be filled with joy with your kids your grandkids and may have plenty more trips ahead with you and Angie I appreciate everything that you've done to support our school making it a better place to learn to teach and excel in academics and athletics you've certainly left it in a better place than when you arrived and Congratulations on a

010legendary career here in St. Frank. Madam President. Dr. Capuchin. Mr. McBride board Thank you. Thanks for letting us come here and honor one of the greats Bob it's an honor for me to be here To talk with you and many opportunities this year to talk with coach Banning about his season about his team and Every time that I talked with him. He said I got a feeling I got a feeling about this team and boy Did he have a feeling the team finished 23 and 5? The number 13 seed in the state playoffs making an incredible run to the championship game This earned coach Banning that Chassa 5a coach of the year Mr. Finis said just talked about Bob's commitment to the St. Varian Valley School District Bob is the definition of a serving leader

011He has served as students his athletes his athletes families and his colleagues with passion empathy and integrity Bob thank you for being you and Thank you for allowing me to be a part of those who you have served. Well, thank you for having me here Very feeling very humble and thankful I'd like to recognize both all the administrators at Silver Creek I've worked for Eric for 15 years and he's been an incredible administrator as you can tell Pat was with us every step of the way and double-check many times few years ago, I was going through a health scare and Pat would check off with me make sure I was good after every game That kind of caring I know Karen's here, I don't know if Eric Autumn's here, but They run a great school

012Something I'd like to do here is kind of acknowledge My journey through the St. Varian Valley School District, but to do that I need to start with the person in our family that's been a part of the St. Varian Valley School District for a Long time my wife Angie Angie started her SVV SD journey as The first class that opened Lamont Estates Elementary, so she was in second grade at that time 1968 name She was a graduate of Lamont High and I can proudly say that she was a swimming all-american there So swimming is her passion She'd been the head coach at Fox Hill Country Club and this year had the pool named after her It's the Angie banding pool at Fox Hill Aquatic Center I Met Angie at office at 9 Watt High Marty

013I was the head track coach there and you might know remember the name of Mark Roberts Who was in the district as the head track coach at Lions? Mark was my assistant and ran for me at 9 Watt High He then took over and became a chassel Hall of Famer, but I was in the athletic office and I was checking on the school budget and I noticed a really cute young coach And I think I may have said something. Did I say something to you? Yes. What did I say, hon? Oh, I just I Said by flirting with her. I said I'd take it taking her budget. There was nothing left in the swimming budget We shared a common athlete student and That student knew that I was her biology teacher and Angie was her

014coach and she kept saying to me You know, you need to meet my swim coach and on the other side she kept saying to Angie you need to meet my biology teacher Jamie Lathrop who was a swimmer for Angie and a teacher and a teacher for st. Vrain Truth be told we had caught each other's eye a little bit before then and Finally she came and I was working out at the YMCA and she came in And she was with the guy and I thought you know, I really would like to ask her out and She was playing racquetball. So I waited till she came out and I boldly asked her she'd like to get a cup of coffee sometime and She's she said yeah, she'd like to do that. So we exchanged Phone numbers

015and it turned out it was her brother that she was playing racquetball with But that was probably in 1983 My journey through the SVV SD started as a student teacher at an I want high school in 1980 and so I taught from basic PE Reading for students didn't even have an acronym then for students that were having a hard time reading English Biology and a few others as my first Stab at a teacher and after my student teaching experience, I was riffed every year and It's a gentle way of letting you know that you're fired and then I was hired back for three years because I Was the youngest on the 9-watt staff for seven years So I received my first contract when I was 23 and then after Meeting Angie we dated for a

016few years Teachers and coaches alike at married Our son came along what two years after that Kendall is a graduate of Silver Creek High School played collegiate basketball He was also a very good swimmer track and field our daughter came along graduated in 2009 She was a swimmer went to swimming scholarship at CSU also track and field and ran track at CSU Now we are grandparents of six so the youngest is Three and the oldest just turned 13 and We had both read somewhere that If you want to get to know your grandchildren Well, you need to get located close to them before it's too late when they're going through their growing up process. So That was kind of what pushed me and my wife You know that this was going to be our last

017year her coaching and she's been subbing at La Monte States forever We live right across the street. So she's Probably sub just last week. I would I would guess But For me, not only am I thankful for Saint Rain Valley for raising me as a professional It's a true love story So I hope I came off thankful don't tell my my players that I got a little teary-eyed there. Thank you Okay, thanks for that touching story Next up we have our future ready staff recognition with Carrie Thank You president Gilligan members of the board dr Kaputian It is such an honor tonight to bring forward an incredible group of people that we have in our system I think all of us were at the future ready festival event that we held a few weeks ago

018at Silver Creek High School and what started with just a small idea trying to figure out how can we better showcase the amazing things happening? Every day in our classroom to our community sparked into what was just an incredible first year event in st Brain and so it's my privilege to invite forward Colin Rickman and Carrie Adams who are really the two champions behind this event who put in a tremendous amount of planning and work to make this happen and successful and we have a Number of people that were part of the team here with us tonight as well So I'm gonna invite Colin and Carrie to come forward and share Little highlights of our future ready festival our first first annual event. Well, good evening President Gilligan and the board and dr. Kaputian and

019dr. McDermott. Thank you for having us This is the fun part. We get to celebrate the after the event part and The event was such a great time. I know many of us in here in the room were there But I want to just kind of read Just go over a little bit more about what we started out to achieve and Come back full circle as to what actually ended up happening but our purpose and goals and the why behind this as dr. McDermott talked about slightly but Was number one we make a very concerted effort here in our school district and we all know this that We want to have community engagement We want we want not only the parents of our students to be in our schools, but also everyone in our community

020to be in our schools and that looks like a lot of different ways it can be community engagement through events and and People coming in for performances a lot of different things that happen at individual schools feeders But this was a large task because it was set on Carrie Adams and I to Bring the whole district together. And so I think we did a good job with that So we wanted to bring program awareness give opportunity for families outside of our school district to enroll and Of course, we always want to be transparent and what's happening in our school district So sharing updates on bond projects was another goal of ours district growth our different departments and Then of course we want to make sure that this is something that we get to celebrate our

021students with And so the many things and activities that we got to do were centered around students Our staff our teachers that get to share exactly what's happening in our schools, which is pretty spectacular After we discussed the goals and went through that we really met with the principals and had an opportunity to hear from the principals about What was important to them? What was valuable to them about sharing about their schools and their feeders and the event? I think what we really wanted was that Experience when people walked in and I think when you walked in you saw on the outside Plaza The mobile lab and all kinds of activities happening outside Which made it so welcoming to come in and then after that when you walked in the front door The first thing

022you were met with was music there was music in the Commons. There was elementary school choirs and Just everything happening in music you turn your head right you turn your head left. You saw everything Including activities and everything was hands-on and I think to me that was the biggest piece was seeing the engagement and the involvement and really Wrapping up those goals about people were seeing and people were involved in the community and saw what we wanted to have them experience through this So by the numbers our data for this event, which was somewhat hard to capture but With an overflowing parking lot and using our overflow parking lot We had over 1,500 people attend the event that day We had over 350 student volunteers helping Showcase all what's happening in our schools over 85

023teachers and staff that led activities nearly 250 student musicians that performed to that day and Nearly 70 activities showcasing learning across the brain. So bringing that all together was was a spectacular thing. So It was hard to see everything and I think some of us that were captured in one space like I was It was really nice that our communications team my team was able to help with some photos and some video and so I have a short highlight video for you that Hopefully it's an essence of what that event was like Well, the thank yous go on and while it was awesome to work with Colin in the communications department We wouldn't have done anything without so many people who did so much work and so especially want to Thank the board. Thank you

024for your support of this and dr. Capuchin and dr. McDermott the principals And around the the community all of the building services everything that's lifted here. I especially want to thank My my boss at Silver Creek High School When we came back and said hey, I have a thought to share with you He was he was super excited and engaged and our head custodian Jonathan officer bond a And the SRO's Mary and our campus supervisor so many people were involved in this and it was such a huge Commitment from so many people to make it work and it took so many people to pull off this event that we are just so grateful for that so much district support and Some financial support was great too from our ed foundation and the AMD Organization and

025so we just had a lot of a lot of help with that. We've got more people here. Yes So with that I want to we have some of our zone leaders and some of our planning team here with us tonight I'd like to just invite them to come forward to be recognized and we'll open it up for any questions that the board has But I'd like to bring forward Matt buckler Janae bird Richard Peebles Eric Finestead Dina perfetti Dini Greg George Diane Lauer Michael O'Toole Jennifer McCartney Kristen Brom Dylan Wissman Jane Lim Christy Jones and Caroline Chuck how and as you can see from the names This is just a few of the people in the village that it took to make this such a successful event And we can't wait to do it all

026over again next year Especially now that we have a successful blueprint to see what that can look like and we will travel this around to different high schools Every year to showcase different aspects of our system and our district and something that's really exciting about this event Is that we know we got some new enrollment as a result of this So we're gonna continue to look for ways and opportunities To invite our community in to see that public school advantage and to see what it is that we offer here in st Brain, so with that we'll open up for any questions or comments Yeah, well well done holy cow that's such an awesome event. I just wanted to know what Sparked this what was the what was the? Spark that led this You know I

027would say we're always looking for ways to engage our community and to create opportunities for students I think that this sparked really out of some ideas that Carrie Adams brought forward to us on how can we Provide more opportunities to showcase the work that we're doing in st. Brain to create more engaging content and Events that really bring our community in and see what's going on in our schools So I really want to give a lot of credit to Carrie Adams That this was really born out of some ideas that she brought forward on how we can really showcase st. Brain and I will also say that Carrie was the catalyst for our public ed parade a couple of years ago and It was a Tremendous amount of work. It was an incredible event and

028a tremendous amount of work And I told her we are never again doing a public ed parade So she brought the parade inside is what she did and you did a fabulous job at that I just I just want to say that I really appreciate the commitment to doing things in person I know that as a communications team, you know Everyone's working really hard to make sure that the community knows what's going on in the district, etc But really being able to see the kids in action and see teachers in action with the kids for me was really rewarding and I Hope that we can increase participation from the community in future years. I just think it's a brilliant idea So thank you for doing that and for making it happen I Had a few

029words in I was overwhelmed I mean I could never have gotten to say everything and we actually I got hung up in the cafeteria with the musical groups and I remember saying wow, I'm listening to the middle school Jazz bands with nobody directing them. They were directing themselves and I'm saying it's Carrie So well, what's next next year? We're gonna have kindergarten singing opera or something and I Believe that could happen and I don't hope we continue this. I I thought it was a phenomenal community engagement program There wasn't anything much that we do that I didn't see there in the time I was there is phenomenal I look at you all and I know most of you and I know the hours you put in to pull off this type of activity and Silver

030Creek High School hosting it all That was just special it was just I just it was just so much fun. It was so much energy that that I was still in my 10 degree pain from my My nerve problem from the singles and I it was enjoyable to be there. Yeah, it overcame that For the better part of the couple hours. I was there. I said, thank you very much and I wish Next year we can do the same thing and I know it's a lot of work. But thank you all But thank you all if I could jump in yeah, so many familiar faces that already do so much Anyway, but to add this onto your plates Really a big. Thank you. I know that's probably underwhelming to the amount of work that you

031put into it, but Even sitting here, you know a couple times a month I could not repeat everything that the district offers, but now I have somewhere to send people You can go check it out once a year It was absolutely beautiful engage the engagement everywhere from all ages all levels, but the other thing too is I Hope that you're proud of how many people that really? Grasped because any first time event Right that you plan to do people aren't used to it yet. It's not like oh, yeah, that's coming up but to have The numbers that you did is just astounding so that truly. Thank you. It was incredible everywhere I turned another hallway of more rooms and things to check out So next year, I'll just have to check out a whole other

032section, but thank you I also think one of the added benefits I kept hearing was Educators getting to see what the other schools were doing and how they don't often get to be together But this event allowed for that to happen, so I don't know if that was an intended benefit But I do think it was a really great opportunity for educators across the system to really be together and Showcase the amazing things that we're offering. So thank you. Thank you. Thanks everyone Okay, next up we have audience participation I didn't see anyone on the signup sheet Do we have any members of our audience that would like to sign up and address the board this evening? Okay, seeing none. We'll move on to our superintendent's report great. We have a lot to be proud

033of this evening I'm gonna go quickly But I do have a number of things. I'd like to recognize our pro start culinary arts program I would like to recognize them for bringing home top awards at the state FCC LA competition with our students earning first second and third place And then also the Innovation Center hosted a code zone challenge where we had students from across the district competing and coding challenges and Altona Received first place in it in the advanced category and second place in the novice category I also enjoyed attending our first smart team symposium two Saturdays ago at the Innovation Center Which brought in students from around the country? The smart teams as you all know because they've been in front of the board provide Research and receive hands-on experience with real scientific

034research to explore protein structures using scientific literature and molecular Visualization tools. They are very impressive. There is a reason we call them the smart team A reminder that next week is our district-wide art show chase McBride spoke to that a little bit We'll have over 10,000 pieces of student work with the artist open house next Thursday evening So if there's a time where you want to go where it's really lively go on Thursday evening It's open most of the days During the week and if you want to go where it's just quiet and you can enjoy a cup of coffee and look at some beautiful Art, that's any time is a good time to go also Congratulations to Cole Shepherd and Graydon Rasmussen at Silver Creek High School for placing first in state at the

035science Olympiad competition in circuit lab I Enjoyed doing democracy day and engaging with our students on important topics impacting our community We'll be bringing forward a spotlight on the event on that event in next week next month's board meeting We also had some students on CPR that were interviewed around some of the topics they discussed at doing democracy day So we had some of our some of our students were interviewed about about that event We are celebrating Westview Middle School that has earned a redesignation as a National school to watch and we celebrated with their full school assembly and we honored their students and staff I believe it was last week, but my days and weeks are all running together now And then finally we have many other schools that will be recognizing with the

036Colorado Department of Education awards Including the John Irwin award for high performance and high academic achievement as well as the governor's Distinguished improvement awards. I don't want to call those schools out right now But we will bring them forward or give everybody a chance to recognize those schools in the future So I will stop there. I really I could go on for pages and pages of recognitions We have a lot to be proud of and this was just from our last week or or two. So we'll stop there Thank you. Thanks, Jackie Next up we have reports 6.1 P tech program report Brandon well, thank you Good evening, madam president and board members and dr. Caputian. Thanks for having us here this evening We appreciate the opportunity to share an update We appreciate the opportunity

037to share an update on st. Vrain's p-tech programs work that continues to create meaningful pathways for students in college careers and the workforce P-tech is one of the most effective strategies we have for delivering college career and opportunity Without cost barriers to students this evening will do four things first provide an overview of our four p-tech programs Their focus areas higher education partners and industry connections Second share results from a deeper analysis. We conducted on student outcomes third highlight key operational indicators such as certifications internships and job placements and Finally, you'll hear directly from students about their experiences in these programs to set the stage I'd like to briefly walk through our four programs, you know, there are a lot of moving parts and this is not a great slide So I apologize. I thought

038it would display a little bit better than that a lot of moving parts so I did I wanted to give you the context and kind of review the different programs and who our industry partners are and who are Higher education partners are I'd also mention that in the back of the room standing up are the leaders of each of the different programs So maybe as I call out your program you wave and and we'll know who who's running that program inside the building So the first step is Falcon Tech Falcon Tech is at Skyline High School It's our longest standing program. It partners with Front Range Community College and offers a degree pathway and computer information Systems its industry partners include IBM A&M CGI and our very own district technology services That program currently serves

039144 students Eagle Tech Located at Frederick High School partners with Ames Community College and offers an associate of general studies in bioscience Students benefit fit from strong industry partnerships with companies like the University of Michigan like Agilent Technologies KBI Bio Pharma Corden Pharma and Umoja Bio Pharma There are currently 20-122 students in this program Raptor Tech at Silver Creek High School also partners with Ames Community College and MSU Denver And focuses on cyber security Industry partners include Seagate Technologies, Cisco, Comcast HPE and GE, Vrnova HPE and GE, Vrnova are new this year new partners this year Raptor Tech currently serves 93 students Trojan Tech based at Longmont High School partners with Front Range Community College and offers a business pathway leading to an associate of arts degree Its partners include the city of Longmont, the

040Longmont Economic Development Partnership, the Downtown Development Authority The Longmont Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Chamber of Boulder County Trojan Tech serves 88 students Across all four programs the model is consistent strong academic pathways embedded college credit and real world industry engagement So to better understand the impact of these programs we conducted a deeper analysis of student outcomes We did this around the December-January time frame And the work was informed in part by my participation in the Colorado Department of Education's P-TECH and TREP working group the prior summer During that work working group. We found that the statewide data on P-TECH and TREP programs wasn't terrific But as we sat around the table and shared stories with each other and shared the statistics that site-based programs were compiling We saw some trends that were really

041interesting So we brought those back here to St. Frane and we wanted to see if those trends were really We're holding for our programs as well Our hypothesis was straightforward Students in P-TECH would demonstrate stronger outcomes stronger academic performance higher attendance and fewer disciplinary incidents The hypothesis was confirmed across all four programs P-TECH students earn GPAs that are nearly half a point higher than their non-P-TECH peers Their PSAT and SAT scores are almost 11 points higher Disciplinary infractions occur less than half as often as non-P-TECH students They attend school more consistently And since its inception they have maintained a hundred percent high school graduation rate The bottom line is that the model is working What's especially compelling is that these outcomes are consistent across all four programs regardless of pathway partners or school site That

042tells us it isn't an isolated success To take a closer look at how this work comes to life for our students. I'll turn it over to my colleague Louise March Good evening First I have to say this has been maybe the most successful year so far in P-TECH Three of our four programs are fully built out into the fifth year This year, we will have graduates at every level four five and six years this may 2026 79 more P-TECH students from Ames and Front Range will walk the stage to receive their associate's degree through SVV SD P-TECH completely free of charge Since may 2020 when our very first cohort walked the stage We are now at a total of 320 students who will have associate's degrees from our P-TECH programs This remarkable success is a

043direct reflection of our dedicated P-TECH staff Who work tirelessly to support our students in all their coursework, especially the college level classes These people are amazing With greater stability across our schools this year We we as a staff had an opportunity to step back and reflect on areas of growth One of the most exciting developments we had this year was a collaboration with the IC and the CLIMB team To help us increase two things internships and industry certifications for our students This summer is the very first summer. We're going to have all four of our P-TECH programs participating in internship opportunities Eagle Tech remains so strong with 19 internships through our bioscience partners who are truly amazing They conducted their internships last week and I believe they're all matched Trojan Tech will launch their first

044internship partnership with city of longmont where 16 students Will work across the departments With city of longmont in HR communications parks museum recreation AI data storage and more Additionally two placements will include at BC services Which is a money management company and one will be at spitz where this student will actually help Create events all throughout longmont Two internships will be with our SVVSD Finance department one in procurement and one in accounting So that's 21 different jobs that the Trojan Tech team had to interview for and place. That's 63 Interviews with high school students amazing and they're all matched Big job Falcon Tech will have five internships this summer three at DTS and two at A&M However for both Falcon Tech and Raptor Tech, we've shifted our internships to after senior year As many of

045our industry partners prefer our students to be 18 or older. We decided to make this shift Historically internships have been between 11th and 12th grade But we really want to listen to our industry partners and help serve them All of these internships I just rec I just um Mentioned are all coupled with a college class. So these students are not only working 135 hours at their industry partner They're also completing a three-hour college course And generously these are all paid internships by our industry partners, which we feel so lucky Um The last column we're really excited. This is our partnership with the IC and the CLIMB team This summer 40 of our students are going to participate in the micro internships With cyber security 20 from Falcon Tech and 20 from Raptor Tech We'll be

046working with small businesses to assess Their digital presence and their security practices This is going to be a great collaboration because it's Falcon Tech kids Raptor Tech kids and IC kids all together working on real world experience So looks like it's going to be a very very busy summer Our second goal this year was to increase industry certifications Again through this amazing partnership with the CLIMB team. We worked to get key certifications approved and addressed numerous numerous Challenges with technology we probably called DTS once a day for a month So a big shout out I saw Jennifer here A big shout out to Eric Pierce and his team and everyone at DTS for helping us We had to get our laptops configured to work on all the platforms where we were trying to have the

047kids earn their certifications so today or i'm sorry together with the team our p-tech prep teachers who Seriously have put in so much extra time to get our our students passing these industry certs Our students are on track to earn 282 industry certifications in CompTIA which is very very difficult. That's most of the Raptor Tech students. Those are industry certifications work work-based learning Kids are getting jobs with these certifications with an associate's degree big jobs like making a hundred thousand a year Microsoft and then Python So 126 certifications have already been earned and we're poised to do 156 more. So good luck to our students This next slide. I have to say Makes me the happiest and The most proud of our students The original goal of p-tech if you don't know yet was developed

048in Brooklyn by a school district in partnership with IBM In it its goal was to create a strong pipeline of skilled entry-level talent for local industry This is exactly what our SVVSD p-tech programs are doing To date 31 of our graduates have been hired as full-time employees by our trusted industry partners These partners are so impressed with our graduates that they are now working closely with I am working closely with companies like cordon and Agilent to host evening recruitment Events for our fifth year students and graduates. They want to hire our kids They are hiring our kids and this is amazing This is where we truly see our work coming full cycle Our graduates are not only entering the workforce, but they're truly becoming mentors to support the next generation of p-tech students And now

049for the best part I would like to call up Lea denise padilla garcia from longmont high to speak Good evening. My name is lea denise padilla garcia I'm an 11th grade student earning my associate's degree through trojan tech at longmont high school I chose p-tech because I saw it as an opportunity to meet new people and make most of the resources around me It has also helped me work towards my goal of continuing my education through A four-year university in a faster and more accessible way I plan on attending cu boulder with the cu pre-college program, which will give me a forty thousand dollar scholarship I earned my spot in this program due to my hard work and skills. I earned through the p-tech program This summer I will be staying at the dorms at

050cu boulder and I will be taking college elective classes That will help me prepare for when I am a cu student The three college elective classes I will take are psychology communications and sociology P-tech has allowed me to build strong connections, especially during mentor days when I have met professionals from local industries As a first generation student p-tech has also helped me support my parents' landscaping business In my business communications class. I've learned how to promote their work online And my accounting class has helped me show them how to run their business more efficiently My mentor is from the longmont police department and works in communications She taught me how to be more professional in both my writing and my speaking by using professional language For example, she showed me how to create a strong

051email by choosing more formal and effective words She had emphasized that building connections now even in high school will help me with my with my future career P-tech has shown me that no matter where you start you can grow improve and reach goals You once thought were out of reach Now I would like to introduce jesus huerta mosqueda a 12th grader from falcon tech Hi, my name is jesus huerta mosqueda and i'm a senior in falcon tech I will receive my college degree and my high school diploma this may of 2026 I was originally planning to join p-tech. It was a last minute decision, but one i'm glad I made What sparked my curiosity was my family's experience I have five cousins who all went through p-tech and seeing that succeed motivated me to take

052the same path Joining with my classmates, I have quickly realized the value of staying with the same group over time We built strong lasting friendships and having that consistent support system helped keep me focused Especially as we moved through our front range college classes together P-tech challenged me to prioritize college coursework more than many of my peers But it taught me my essential skills like time management networking and professional preparedness It also helped me grow socially During my internship with ibm I collaborated with team members from canada, texas and new york gaining real world experience and new perspectives We worked on human resources case study and I learned the importance of communication and staying connected to solve problems effectively Personally p-tech pushed me beyond my comfort zone. I've grown confident participated in deca won the

053competition and advanced to state I'm also involved in talker la raza and national honor society P-tech showed me that with strong management skills, it's possible to balance It all while preparing for future success For my future plans I intend to attend ames community college and enroll in their aviation program with the goal of becoming a commercial pilot Through p-tech i've developed strong technical skills that I plan to carry with me and build upon in aviation I want to combine what i've learned in p-tech with the specialized training i'll receive as a pilot Completing p-tech has made me more confident and comfortable with technology It's shown me how essential technology is in every field, especially in aviation I understand that in the future will continue to be shaped by technology and I feel well prepared to

054adapt and succeed. Thank you so as we Close i'd like to leave you with three key takeaways First these programs are delivering results Across every metric we track academic performance attendance behavior and graduation P-tech students are performing at the highest levels Second this work is powered by partnerships Our industry and higher education partners are not just supporting these programs They are helping design real pathways into high demand careers And finally, this is about opportunity p-tech opens doors for students Many of whom are the first in their families to access college or career pathways in these fields So thank you very much for your time and thank you for your support We're happy to answer any questions you might have thanks brandon. Do board members have any questions? I uh, no questions just to comment Brandon

055and crew. I I mean i'm just so impressed with this program Whenever I tell people my son's a part of p-tech and there's our new principal back there. Hi ashley um, they do such a great job at the p-tech department just just in general the whole program and When I tell people that my son will be a Freshman in basketball, but a junior academically they they think wow. So what what is that? So I just want to say thank you to everybody involved in the p-tech community That's that's have a hand helping hand in it and I just thank you guys for all your work Nice job to the students too. Good job guys well They sure Our responsibilities for graduation are a skyline and Having been there every other year it's just uh sort

056of amazing to be Sitting there and having the students come by that have got their associate degree the week before they get their high school diploma and the numbers are staggering I mean, um And that's you know our longest running program. It's it's really in in uh Implanted in in that school And I always tell the ones that are graduating to make sure you don't leave us and come back and Show your other students coming up in your family your neighborhood What opportunity you have if you're willing to work hard and take a chance? and um The success rate is just phenomenal You know, I don't don't see I don't know all the counselors that work with us from the different companies or all the Teachers directly involved but if they were here i'd be

057cheering them on and wanting to take a picture with all of them because um the students put in the hard work, but those teachers put in a lot of hard work in the counselors, so it's uh Excellent program and i'm looking forward to doing skyline this year and seeing all the all the Their graduates who have already got an associate degree. I'm you know, it's always amazing That we thank you all for the work you're doing Thank you for the two students that come and present for us because you're you're the spokespeople for the program uh our You know everybody who's around you could do it But when you come and speak it means so much And we appreciate it when they show up. Thank you Uh, yes, I would like to Especially thank our

058students for taking advantage of an amazing opportunity That will likely lift you for the remainder of your life. So It takes a lot of courage to take that leap of faith. We often hear that it's your mom Who makes you go into that program? um, but oftentimes the students Take a couple of years to see the benefit and you clearly have seen the benefit Of this opportunity for your life. So thank you and I would like to bring up all of our assistant principals from the back You know every great strategy requires a champion and Brandon you and louise have been consistent champions for this program For all of the years that we've had it implemented and you both Solve so many problems. There are so many moving parts in our p-tech programs so many

059Because we're working with many outside entities We're working with business partners. We are working with community colleges We're trying to get instructors lined up for the very specialized course work That our students are participating in you are trying to recruit The right students for this opportunity and you're having to track on The success of our students along the way because it really does put them out of their comfort zone And so I want to thank all six of you For being the champions for this program and ensuring the success of the hundreds of students Who will get an opportunity to graduate with an associate degree? So if you and our students would all come up we would like to take a picture And I want to recognize you for contributing to the saint brain advantage.

060So come on Adorable Okay, thank you next up we have internships with students dina and heidi hi Dr. Capuchin president gilligan and members of the board We appreciate the opportunity tonight to provide an update on our strategic commitment to expand internships and industry certifications Which prepares students for life after graduation? We are expanding these opportunities for students so they can explore careers Not just in the classrooms but out in the field so that they have more clarity about their career choices when they leave high school Connecting classroom learning to real world work and industry recognized certifications in fields like it healthcare and advanced manufacturing bolsters student confidence Confidence about choosing a career path that both fulfills them and sustains them economically and louise march Just gave a perfect example of that With a p-tech student

061to ensure internships are truly beneficial though to both the student and the industry partner We have developed processes that are implemented before during and after the internship experience Heidi ringer post-secondary workforce readiness coordinator and cte director has done an amazing job Of leading this work with the team Joining heidi tonight are jamie carious and connie dulan internship facilitators And they will help paint a picture of how we ensure quality learning experiences by design All right. Thank you dina. Good evening. And thank you. Dr. Capuchin President gilligan and the other members of the board We are grateful for the opportunity tonight to share our work with you And we're also going to connect it to the big three framework and share what a high quality work-based learning looks like in saint brain I will also share

062some data over the last three years about our internships as well as our certification trends that we've seen also So just want to make sure everyone knows that there's a team behind us that is supporting this work In addition to dina Myself and our two internship facilitators. We also have a district wbl advisory committee And over the last two years this group specifically has focused intensely on building the systems and structures to support internships for all students in saint brain So to back up a little bit to the big picture The big three is what really represents our statewide initiative around post-secondary workforce readiness With the strategic goal that all students should have access to at least one of these three pillars 12 pathway aligned college credits and industry recognized credential or high quality work-based

063learning experience The state legislature recently passed two bills to support this goal around funding and accountability And this spring we will be reporting our first round of data for these metrics for funding And the impact on accountability will be coming in the next couple of years So what is work-based learning well our state has used this particular continuum Which will be updated in the next year to define the progression from learning about work to learning at work So this graphic has been utilized across our state in career and technical education for several years And it covers a broad range of activities And while saint brain engages in many of the different experiences that are shown here As I mentioned earlier much of our efforts over the last two years have focused specifically On expanding high

064quality internship opportunities for all of our students I'll now turn it over to connie dulan one of our internship facilitators to share specifically how she and jamie prepare and mentor our students As well as describe some of the structures and systems that we've put in place to support our students and our partners Thank you, heidi My name is connie dulan and I am the internship facilitator at the career elevation and technology center Thank you so much for allowing us the time to speak to you this evening about the amazing things that are happening Our team is committed to securing high quality internship opportunities for our students And providing the support that they need to be successful We partner closely with local businesses and build strong mutually beneficial relationships That extends student learning beyond the classroom

065and into real world experiences These partnerships also allow us to better understand the workforce needs and to align our programs and curriculum To both support students and employers Before promoting any internship we conduct site visits and background checks We want to ensure student safety first and foremost In collaboration with our district's legal team. We've developed formal internship agreements That are signed by all parties And we also work with business partners to create clear job descriptions as well and as outlining expectations and defining learning objectives To promote these opportunities we share internships on a district-wide platform that's accessible to all of our high school students And we collaborate with teachers in the aligned programs and whenever possible we prevent Present these opportunities directly to the students in the classrooms Additionally we provide students with resume support

066and interview preparation Some employers choose to conduct their own interviews while others partner with us to screen and recommend our top candidates Once a student is placed we provide internship guidelines and required signed agreements from all parties Students track their hours and reflect on their experiences through structured logs Throughout the internship we maintain regular communication with both the students and the supervisors To ensure that all expectations are being met and to address any concerns promptly At the conclusion of the internship students complete a self-evaluation and supervisors provide valuable feedback on student performance This information helps us continuously improve our program and strengthen our partnerships Students submit all required documentation and then we apply internship credit to their transcript Now I will pass it on to jamie carious to talk about our different types of internships

067And the feedback that we've received from students and business partners Thank you. Connie. My name is jamie carious and i'm the internship facilitator at the innovation center Thank you for the opportunity to be here tonight Our team has clearly defined the different types of internships available to st. brain students We look at these in three main ways External internships are partnerships with outside organizations that we have built Internal internships take place right here within our own district departments And other refers to established programs that aren't unique to st. Brain, but are open to any student in the area For our external internships, this includes both traditional and remote roles A great example is the isat at cu boulder internship program Where our students worked with mentors and researchers from their lab on an ai-related research

068project We had over 35 students apply this year Which shows just how much student interest there is in engaging in meaningful internship experiences We also had students who did an it internship at groundworks art lab They earned their sales first sales force certification first and then spent their internship doing actual data migration for them Next are internal internships where students work within st. Brain departments This includes our health pathway students serving as a health clerk at naiwa elementary Or the work with the energy and sustainability department that you heard about last fall Finally, we classify internships as other when they are established programs that exist independently of the district Like the ag science internships at the longmont humane society We promote these and provide support even though the programs aren't specific to st. Brain No

069matter the category we provide support to ensure every student has a high quality real world work-based learning experience On these next slides we gathered feedback from our students and their supervisors Students reported overwhelmingly positive experiences Many highlighted that the internships helped them master concepts and gave them the confidence to work alongside adults on real world projects We also saw a huge impact on professional growth With most students rating the internship of four or five out of five for improving their durable skills A key takeaway for many was career clarity. These experiences allowed them to test their interests and see what a job actually looks like day to day Students felt more prepared for their futures and really valued the mentorship that they received which helped them grow both personally and professionally Intern supervisors also reported

070highly positive experiences. They described our students as well prepared curious and valuable contributors Many noted that the program provided a strong learning experience not only for the students but also for the supervisors themselves Many supervisors noted that the students were genuine value add to their company And because of that they expressed a willingness to host interns again and recommend the program to others Now i'll pass it back to heidi to go over our internship data. Thank you Thank you to both of them who work tirelessly with our partners and our students Um, i'd like to share a little bit about our data that we've seen over the last three years As this graph shows we've seen tremendous growth in both the volume of opportunities and the total number of students in internships I also included

071our p-tech programs in this so you could see a complete picture Of internships in our district and what we anticipate to have after this summer Two years ago. We had limited partnerships or limited internships outside of p-tech with only 28 students completing internships over the course of the year We expanded our team then last year with jamie and myself And we focused on structures and systems and we've steadily been able to increase the number of internship opportunities that we have available As you can see we anticipate over 200 students will have taken part in an internship over the course of the past school year And into the summer And more and more students are accessing these high quality internships and the work of our internship facilitators has been critical in this increase Extremely proud of

072the growth and hope that we continue expanding this over the next few years A little outside of internships, but part of the big three and tied to many of our internships are certifications So I want to highlight a little bit about our industry recognized credentials So this slide shows just a sampling of the types of industry recognized credentials that our students are earning And this is most mostly through our pathways at the innovation center and cetc But really it's open and available for all students across our district As you can see we've also we've seen a tremendous surge in the number of credentials that our students have attained and again These are workforce ready credentials Much of the growth has been driven by our opportunity now grant you heard a little bit about that with

073p-tech And this fueled the opportunity climb initiative at the innovation center In that first year, we had only 13 certifications At the beginning of that grant And we now anticipate over 400 certifications earned from our opportunity climb students And again, these are students across our district that are earning certifications in microsoft office amazon web amazon web services python salesforce and cisco just to name a few Likewise at our career and tech career elevation and tech center also continues to support pathway specific Certifications in multiple areas across their building Some of these include manufacturing welding health care Some examples of those certifications include american welding society Level one cert which requires 240 contact hours and 10 intensive modules. So they will have students complete that this year They also have health career students that are earning

074nationally recognized emt certifications and there are many many more happening at cetc So just a couple of examples of rigorous workforce ready certificates that our students are earning And again the headline here is we anticipate over reporting 1500 credentials for to the state this spring Um about how many of our students are earning credentials just from our school district And then finally, I just want to mention our future ready website. Um, thanks to diane for all of her support This now allows our students to have a one-stop shop to see access about all of our opportunities at our schools and cte locations This website will eventually be the hub for all aspects of the big three including college partners opportunities for credentials Internship opportunities and career pathway information if you have time to explore this

075website. I encourage you to do so We just launched this in march and it's a work in progress And we're beginning to work with counselors and school staff to make them aware of this great tool Overall, we're just incredibly proud of our students who engaged in internships or attained a certification this past year By bridging the gap between classroom and workforce st Vrain is truly leading the way in post-secondary workforce readiness Thank you so much for your continued support of this vital work and we'll open it up to any questions that you have Thank you. Do board members have any questions or comments? Well, I have personally spent some time on that new website and i'm really excited about it I've shared it with several parents in my network. We all have young kids still

076so Nobody's quite ready to be involved in it. Yeah, but it's very exciting I know a lot of work went into that and it's really cool to see all of that information come together in one place. So Thank you so much And thank you to our industry partners, I think it's So great how many opportunities our kids are getting with real world experience I think it's such an important part of the learning process and thank you for all the work you guys have done on this It's really incredible Thanks miss gilligan. Um, i'd also like to thank heidi and connie and jamie For the work that you've done to get students situated into these opportunities. It really can be life-changing for a student to Have a view into the work that they potentially want to

077do in the future and that helps them with the vision for How to walk that out either at college or through certifications or through the career tech pathway So it's been all it this has been a vision for us. Yes dina for a long time there are also a lot of logistics and moving parts to Essentially turn one of our students over to another organization to say help prepare them for their future And it's not done Lightly, there are many many things that we have to monitor and check in To ensure that they're getting a great experience and that they're also giving great experience to The partners that we're handing them to so Thank you for being the bridge for all of that work. It's it's pretty amazing to watch it grow. So thank you

085hr leadership team to formulate staffing plans tailored to the needs of savoring valley schools and students This year we had A number of non-renewals slightly lower at 34 this year Prior to that we did have a slightly higher number. We're very very pleased to be able to have rehired many of those individuals Part of that is attributed to the hiring window that we have shifted And also the the careful review and careful consideration of our individuals and providing them additional opportunities to interview Some of this data is attributable in part to the expiration of some grants fluctuations in enrollment Shifts in programming needs and staff placements along with necessity for late hires We're poised to continue to afford opportunities for individuals to apply for Receive job coaching and support for and rehire many of those

086affected Saint rain valley remains very strong in a competitive market due to our reputation for academic excellence High teacher and staff salaries and strong benefits and innovative approaches in education Our proactive strategy of posting positions prior to spring break has also helped to attract a robust pool of quality candidates In addition our concerted efforts to participate in local and national recruiting events Also has proven instrumental in fostering and growing our talent pipelines in saint brain valley schools With that said it is recommended that the board of education approves teacher contracts For all probationary and non-probationary teachers currently employed in saint brain valley schools With the exception of those listed for your consideration for non-renewal. Thank you Okay I think finally we have uh board reports Would any board members like to share any board reports this evening? I do I uh was able to get to uh the uh production at niwot a Unified production of my little mermaid yesterday and um It was phenomenal. Uh It's just like watchino's unified basketball games and drum lines and everything. Uh It's it's special because uh the um students from uh centennial And I forget the elementary that was there joined the niwot high school students who were Create, you know just charging into this into the auditorium to see this production and the students were so supportive

091they were cheering and Uh clapping and hooting for all at the end of every scene and at the end they gave this cast a standing ovation and um It's very moving to see that. Uh, I always talk about how um you know, i've done a lot of production and at our theater with special needs students in them and um it's more than just honoring the special needs students and giving them a chance to Pick something they enjoy and participate in it on on you know without any challenges They just get up there with a good spirit and But also it's it's so important To the rest of the students in the school And to see them support that that way it means that um We're putting out students from our school district to appreciate the

092challenges that other people have Acknowledging them and supporting them So we're creating community community members and leaders that uh Are going to be here long after we're all gone and uh Uh, and my daughter is the ot at centennial and so she was there with a couple of with all their students and I sat next to her and at the end she was crying because uh, It means so much to her because those are She's saying oh she told me that I think I worked with that I think I worked with that student. I think I worked with that student. She can pick them out on stage still so, um I was fortunate to be able to have time to do that and I just want to let everybody think about that as we go

093along in our years on the board and The fact that we are so supportive of these uh unified activities And what it means to not only the special needs students, but to the students who are supporting them and I'll end with that and I don't always have a report because i've been slowed down, but I made it to that yesterday. So thank you all Yeah, I was uh, I was able to go to a program by the name of uh unidos which means united in spanish And uh, i'm pretty proud of this program. It actually started at Frederick high school I think the first meeting they had uh Maybe there was 10 students and um, it's it's a really neat program. It's it's primarily made up of um latino and um uh hispanic and Students

094of color And it's designed to give them, you know support connection um college readiness information, etc and How many how many how many students do you think we had there on uh, that wednesday? Yeah, 200 right and and it's kind of spreading throughout the district now and I was honored and humbled and uh Very excited to be a guest speaker at the program And so I just want to say thank you to Frederick high school Longmont high school as well was involved And thank you to the district for inviting me down to speak to the students. It was a ton of fun. So Great great program Yeah, um On monday. I'm sorry. My days are also blending together. Um Uh, I got to attend little people big voices at the innovation center, which was a

095collaboration between Early childhood department fine arts as well as uh, the colorado children's corral And they brought their traveling Choir, which is fifth through eighth grade and many of those students are st. Rain students um, and the program was primarily geared towards um pre-k and kindergarten Students and it was really a joy to watch these kids participate with the older students and All sorts of different musical activities So I hope we can do something like that again Um, I know we're all excited for the celebration of excellence on friday celebrating some outstanding educators Um, and I know almost everyone here still will be there.
