{Music} All right. Yeah. We are good. Melissa. Okay. Good evening. We call a special meeting for Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 to order at 6:32 p.m.. Miss Olsen, roll call, please. Here, director Perry here. You're here. Present. Director Miller here. You're up here. All seven board members are present in person for the special meeting. Please join me as we observe a moment of silence. You. Thank you. Doctor Johansen, can you please make the motion to adopt the agenda? Yes. I move I platform. I move that the Board of Education adopt the agenda as presented. Second. Moved and seconded. Roll call. Please. Director bank. Yes. I I I Huber, I Jorgensen. I I I the ayes have it. The agenda has been adopted as presented public comments. So, the Sultan, do we have any public comments? Thank

you. So just for the community's awareness as well. When a new item is being introduced in a special meeting, we always provide an opportunity for public comments. If, the material is new and, it's an opportunity for community to come and provide feedback. And that was offered at this time as well with the agenda items that are on that action. It's my understanding that, one student signed up for public comment today, but it was not, to either of the agenda items that are on the agenda. So, the student, was asked to, since it was a gentle comment, it was asked to come to a regular board meeting to provide that feedback. And in addition, I'm going to meet with the student on Friday to get some feedback from the student as well. Moving on to the

non action item on the agenda, the first non action item is the School Improvement plan. For Rochester Elementary School. So earlier this evening during our work session, the board received a comprehensive presentation and review of the School Improvement Plan for Rochester Elementary School. The board had a lengthy discussion on this topic as well. This will come as an action agenda item at the next regular board meeting in early November. Superintendent call, is there any additional information you need to add at this time? There's not. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. So both, we had a lengthy discussion on the subject matter just a few minutes back to the community. If you, are tuning in to listen to this conversation with the board, I would recommend that you listen to the work session earlier this, earlier this

evening when the bill did have a comprehensive discussion and feedback on the Rogers Elementary School, improvement plan. Board, if you have any other additional feedback between now and early November, please reach out to superintendent, call and copy the rest of the board as well. So we are aware of the feedback that you are provided. We are you are providing on the, Rogers Elementary plan. Also wanted to, let the community know that the District Accountability Committee, the accreditation committee, provided feedback on this, plan and, those, feedback was, delivered to the, Rogers principal and it has been, addressed and incorporated into the plan as appropriate. Any discussions on this at this time from board members? Okay. Seeing none moving to the next item on the agenda, which is draft policy, IJA instructional materials and library resources selection,

adoption, acquisition and, reconsideration. Again. Earlier this evening during our work session, the board had a robust discussion, regarding this draft policy, Director Jurgensen brought the draft version, working collaboratively with Director Haley, to the board. And we discussed, a path forward, before this board, before this policy comes into final version, in front of the board. Again, I would, I would recommend that to the community. If you are tuning in to this conversation at this time, I ask you to reference the work session, where the discussion took place. I do see that doctor X up here. Superintendent Carl, I'm going to, have doctor X provide a brief summary to the community as well. At this thing, what is it that we are doing in terms of repealing the policies in place and what, is being brought in

front of the board? Doctor X. Even if you were just presenting all, policy ideas being introduced, as a way to consolidate and focus our, adoption of materials, as well as our reconsideration of, instructional materials and library resources that are in our schools and in our classrooms. We've taken, some guidance from Casb, in their recommendation and, have condensed this down from three policies down into one, to align to their suggestion. And, we'll develop subsequent regulations upon adoption. Okay. Thank you. Board, any board members want to make any comments? And since we referenced this extensively at the work session, and we also have a plan in place as to how to proceed forth, so, community, if you have feedback on this policy, we've received a few comments. Please feel free to reach out to the board and

share your feedback as to what you would like to, see reflected in this policy. And, your, feedback to the board, whether it is through emails or public comments or direct, face to face interaction with board members will certainly be taken into consideration as we proceed forward. Seeing no further discussion at this time. We will move to the. Yes. Okay. I didn't see it, doctor. I was a. Little a little slow on the punch there for the red button. I just want to acknowledge that, some of the emails that are coming in from Louise and teachers, they are in the middle of parent teacher conferences. And I think we need to recognize that as far as those who haven't been able to engage and those who, may not. So, good luck with those parent teacher conferences

to everyone. And thanks for the feedback we've had so far. Thank you, thank you for talking about the parent teacher conferences. That, provides me an opportunity to plug to the community as well. These are really, critical, engagement with your respective teachers, on your student performance. So please take this opportunity to engage with your students, teachers so you can get a feedback, as to where your student stands and what can be done to, help out each individual student to grow and thrive and, perform even better. I don't see any further comments. With that, we do have executive session today. Director bankers, can you please make the motion to move into executive session? I excuse me, I move that the Board of Education convenes into executive session to discuss negotiations for Kress. 20 4-6 dashboard, two for

each particular matter. Superintendent, contract and personnel. Per Kress 24. Dash six. Dashboard oh two for F particular matter. Superintendent contract second. Moved and seconded. Roll call, please. Mr.. Doctor, may I director carry I I I. I I. I. The ayes have it the board will enter into executive session and if there is, if there is not a reason to come back to the protest, the board will adjourn from executive session directly. With that, I will see you in executive session in a couple of minutes, guys. Thank you.
