001all right welcome welcome we're going to start our meeting thank you for joining the Board of Education this evening please mute your cell phones as we begin the meeting today is Tuesday November 8th 2022 and this meeting is now called to order at 6 31 pm our first order of business is the Pledge of Allegiance so if you'd join me for that I'd appreciate it is thank you so much now uh with any board members like to uh make changes to the agenda all right seeing none we will move on to our next item which is recognitions and reports and we're excited to have some recognitions this evening and we'll ask our superintendent to uh drive that forward president Patterson yes thank you super excited about the recognitions that we have this evening we have

002two amazing recognitions to be more specific our partners for the canvas classic Community football game and a well-deserved teacher of the year award leading tonight's celebration is our Chief Information officer Miss Madeline noblet welcome Madeline all right thank you superintendent Kingsley directors of the board cabinet and everyone gathered here this evening it's nice to be back with recognitions after taking a month off and as superintendent Kingsley said we're going to kick things off tonight with a recognition of one of our incredible Community Partners this is something that is a standing item for each of our recognitions to be able to say thank you to an organization a non-profit a business who has given back to our community and been able to enhance the experiences of our students and more specifically in this case student athletes

003um I think I'll take a point of privilege and just share a little bit about the recent canvas Community classic the first and then I know my colleague Brandon and our partners will do a wonderful job but I think what is so special about the event that happened uh here uh just a few weeks ago was the community aspect of it it brought together everybody from all of our schools and just so many in our community into one place and and I'd like to say thank you to Brandon for the vision and for everybody who made that possible I think we heard from so many in our community that this has been a long time coming and it was just a joy to be able to watch that come to life so with that I'd

004like to invite up my colleague director of Athletics Brandon carlucci as well as our partners in Mr ozello and Mr Bayer so that we can recognize you this evening thank you all right and if you'd like to comment well thanks Madeline and to the board superintendent Kingsley now the cabinet as well one thought about the community the canvas Community Classic this year and why uh perhaps it was the right event at the right time you know for the last two years getting through this pandemic so much of what's been right in front of our face as the things that that separate us as a society right so many different things from masks vaccinations two different painful elections that we've gone through as a society social issues Supreme Court decisions whatever it is those things have

005been right in front of us and they've done a great job you know dividing us and getting us into camps and along that time during the the pandemic especially one of the things that was lost were these gatherings right whether it be concerts or performing arts or athletic events and when you're at those events you don't care about the stuff that I just mentioned that divide you right I've never been at a Broncos game and celebrated a touchdown and given a hug to a stranger behind me or a high five and stepped back and said wait a minute who'd you vote for right that doesn't matter and so um while this might have not been the first event coming out of that you could tell and I think Madeleine alluded to it as well it

006captured sort of some of the some of what had been lost when we had gone through this pandemic and taken away some of those events that transcend our differences and bring us together and it's tough to argue that uh or or think that some of the things that we celebrated that night hey do you want to get together and celebrate high school kids playing football on a Friday night that brings communities together tough to find differences and would you like to go celebrate kids and we brought a ton of kids onto the field to celebrate them that night and tough to find reasons why that wouldn't bring people together and hopefully people were leaving that event thinking wow I'm part of a a pretty special community and part and my kids are attending a pretty

007special school district because we certainly think that's the case so that was our heart behind it and and certainly I'm privileged and was honored to be a part of that and a lot of people went into that a couple thank yous before I get to can canvas and we're going to celebrate them as well and that's well deserved as well but there were a few others lots of people within PSD building athletic directors who aren't here tonight I'll get back to them but even in this room a lot of security were on board that night helping us make that happen uh Madeline and her staff from Communications promoting the event for weeks you know my boss assistant superintendent Scott Nielsen in the sport he continues to give us Brian Kingsley was there our superintendent with

008the coin flip of the first game we had multiple board members there that evening and and at one point one of them asked hey how do we get down there on the field they just wanted to be down there because there was energy on the field and there was excitement it was just so fun it was infectious so so thank you to everyone here for your support of Athletics and your support making that happen that evening as well and then obviously the building athletic directors we didn't take anything off their plate we added this to their plate and in the middle of a fall season that has softball and volleyball and Golf and Tennis and field hockey and gymnastics and all these other sports that are still going on we said help plan this event

009and you're in charge of these activities throughout the night so make sure you're working with bands and with unifieds and with dancers and all of these other things that happen and it would not have happened without their support they knock it out of the park none of them are here tonight because in true athletic director fashion they're at an event tonight celebrating cheerleaders at the conference cheer competition at Fossil Ridge so thank you to everybody and this particularly our our building athletic directors also a huge thank you to CSU at every turn I've tried to take an opportunity to thank them from the very first time we met they have been um they've been welcoming they've been gracious and extremely accommodating they said what do you need and and we kind of looked at him

010a time or two and said we don't know what we need because we've never done this so please help us and we said we want this to look as closely to resemble a CSU game as much as possible and they absolutely made that happen and spared no expense and brought in all the resources they need so that this would be an amazing event for us and I appreciate that in fact a week before the event Gary you'll remember this we're in a meeting at CSU and there's probably 50 people in the room all from CSU representing probably 10 different departments who all had a stake in that event in some form whether it be traffic whether it be concessions whether it be security and you're looking around going holy cow you don't just throw the

011lights on to Canvas stadium and do an event it takes a lot of people and so to see a issue and the many departments that help make this available for PSD and for canvas to partner and pull this off we certainly thank them as well but the reason tonight was to is to thank canvas Credit Union and how fitting that if we're going to play a football game or two football games at canvas stadium that canvas Credit Union be our title sponsor they've already partnered with PSD in many ways and this was just another opportunity opportunity for canvas to engage in the community engage PSD uh it started at the very top for them their CEO Todd marksberry was in Fort Collins when we did the official announcement last February he and his wife were

012both in attendance at the game that evening and was on the field to present the twenty thousand dollar check that they awarded to PSD for the event uh canvas without being solicited on their own idea they donated 250 shirts to all four of our teams that we distributed to our athletes that they were able to take home they donated 125 miniature helmets that now sit on the shelves of many of our football players around town uh Gary ozello who's here tonight with us was in every planning meeting that we had with CSU and around every turn he said you let me know what you need as far as time and resources and so um believe me when I say they were much more than a sponsor for this event they truly truly were a partner

013so with that I know the the board will take their opportunity to thank you but on behalf of PSD Athletics our athletic directors our coaches our teams Candace thank you very much I'll introduce who we have here tonight Gary ozello is the director of units University relations and AJ bear is also with us who works with Gary in University relations as well so I'll turn it over to the two of you and let you say a few words and again thank you thank you Brandon thank you and superintendent Kingsley board cabinet thank you for this opportunity uh as Brandon mentioned it's been it's been a team effort we kind of had an innocent conversation the three of us about a year ago at this time and Brandon had the vision and said what if and

014if you know canvas Credit Union at all we have five pillars that we that we live by as canvas family members we want to be known for our uh as leaders in our communities that we serve and Beyond we want to be known for our heart in the community ease of use we bought want to be known for our service and we want to be known for our people and this was an incredible opportunity for us to partner with PSD we have long been a partner with PSD and as a long time resident who had two uh now adult children go through this District I'm always grateful and thankful and looking for a way to pay back and on behalf of canvas we had that opportunity when Brandon brought this idea forward and we took

015it to our supervisors it was a slam dunk no pun intended to do this event and it did bring the community together one of the neat things that took place with this event is that when canvas stadium was built five or six years ago the intent was to bring our community together and it's not just a football game it was a community event that night that I think we all walked away proud that we had been involved with that event and we appreciate your support what I can say is that as great as it was we had plans on the board to make it bigger and better to continue to broaden and strengthen our partnership with PSD and we thank you very much thank you so much okay yeah B itch oh I can get

016in front of him thank you that's great thanks very much all right for our next recognition of the evening it is my pleasure to recognize Miss Aaron Austin a teacher at pooter High School who is the 2023 teacher of the year for the Colorado Congress of foreign language teachers I think this is just so significant given the nature of our work and I think Aaron this just speaks to the quality of your work so with that I am delighted to invite up my colleagues Miss Kathy McKay the principal at pooter high school as well as Miss Austin for this next recognition [Applause] okay uh thank you Board of Education and superintendent Kingsley cabinet for uh recognizing Aaron Austin this evening I am honored to introduce her she is our French teacher extraordinaire at pooter High

017School and while I won't be able to capture all of her accolades I do want to name a few because they're quite impressive Aaron is a mom she is an entrepreneur she is a blogger she is a advocate for the teaching profession she is a board member of the big brothers and big sisters board she is nationally board certified she is Front Range Community College endorsed or certified she teaches AP art history and every level of French in the IB program and somehow she manages to exercise as well it's it's very impressive it's very impressive I don't know how much how many hours she has in her day because I don't have that time so yes with with that I'd like to turn the mic over to Aaron Austin foreign I did not get to

018exercise today um so I I really appreciate the recognition of course but there are three distinct groups whose own recognition here is vital number one I can do what I do because I have great kids students are and they should always be absolutely number one and I so appreciate all of the parents the Guardians the mentors and supportive adults who raised my students to be who they are and who love them for who they are I rely on community adults number two I can do what I do because I have put myself in environments both in jobs and in experiences across the country with highly effective colleagues many of whom are national board certified teachers and the more I'm around people who are fantastic at what they do in absolutely any realm the more I

019want to get better at what I do I rely on effective and inspirational colleagues and number three I can do what I do because I have an administration at pooter high school and in the district that doesn't micromanage away innovation I have been in that kind of situation and it doesn't produce greatness currently I have an administrator in Kathy who believes like I do that if something is good for kids we shouldn't ask if we can do it we need to ask how I rely on administrators and on structures that think big so thank you all for your part in helping teachers in the district be successful with our students I appreciate it [Applause] and if I could I just want to add one more Accolade to that and that is my daughter's favorite teacher

020so okay thank you so much for all you do thank you foreign all right and that concludes recognitions for this evening excellent thank you very much Madeline um our next uh yes our next item is our first action item for this evening and that's a resolution in support of National American Indian Heritage Month can I get a motion in support of the resolution go ahead Kristen I move that the board approve and adopt the resolution and supportive National American Indian Heritage Month November 2022. excellent thank you can I have a second DJ has a second uh we will have a a presentation on this but first we want to read the resolution so Kristen if you would go ahead and read that that would be great okay wonderful um and just before I get started

021um I just wanted to say that until I can pronounce the original indigenous names correctly I am using the anglicized names for each Nation named in the resolution so thank you so much for your understanding on that resolution in support of National American Indian Heritage Month November 2022 whereas in 1990 Congress passed and President George H.W bush signed into law a joint resolution designating the month of November as the first national American Indian Heritage Month also known as Native American Indian month and whereas pooter School District respectfully acknowledges that our school Community is built on the traditional and ancestral homelands of the Arapahoe Cheyenne and ute Nations and peoples this area was also a site of trade Gathering and healing for numerous other native tribes we are grateful that these original stewards of the land

022now known as Fort Collins are part of our community and are willing to partner with us so that we may improve and whereas Native American communities face cultural and systemic barriers to an inclusive and Equitable education pooter School District commits to close the equity and opportunity gaps for these students and Promises to create and uphold Equitable inclusive and rigorous educational opportunities experiences and outcomes and whereas the Pooter School District board Administration and staff are committed to making the Pooter School District an equitable and inclusive community for all students families and staff and we recognize there is more work ahead of us diversity equity and inclusion are fundamental values in pooter school district and we are committed to ensuring that all American Indian students families and staff are valued seen and heard now therefore the Pruder

033being in community with each other you know one of the things that I heard as all of you did is Gary one of our partners from canvas talked about the power of what if and as I was thinking about what he said I kept on thinking about what if every one of the members of our school district felt like they were a part of something bigger than themselves and I think we just met a princess we just met a young student named Siobhan who I believe is nine years old who said to us that I love my Heritage because it's who I am we heard one of our proud middle school students Shane talk about the importance of being involved and not just being involved but being involved in a way that honors who he

034is to learn to be curious and to be connected to his community uh there is so much of that type of work that is happening across this district and I continue to be proud but I want to continue to lift up the faces and spaces that make up the Pooter school districts I had the proud pleasure yesterday to spend the majority of my day visiting our three Mountain schools I love going up into the mountains it is more picturesque than I imagined before I moved here but having an opportunity to spread spend time with principal sachet I think I just check it thank you I just crushed his name I'm sorry Tom but having an opportunity he picked me up here at the office and we spent the majority of the day in the car

035riding and talking about the work and the way of life up in the mountains and the the pillars that those three schools are in their respective communities and as I had an opportunity to spend time with him I you know getting into the classrooms what's really unique about those schools is not just the size and or its beauty and it's almost like walking back in time in some ways but it's also recognizing that there's a lot of really incredible Innovative practices that are happening within its walls it's not a going back in time instructionally at all or from a leadership perspective we actually have so much to learn from them you know that is one school amongst a few others that have multi-grade classrooms as a standard way of doing business the power that those

036teachers have in the relationship building of being able to loop with students in multiple years and the trust that is built in community is so significant that it actually accelerates student academic growth and makes them feel part of a bigger broader Community I would also say that it makes those teachers stronger teachers those teachers know standards for multiple grade levels and so while it may be difficult in many instances to know how to scaffold up it is a way of life and a way of work for the teachers across all three of those schools and I saw it in practice yesterday in really significant ways I also saw the power of small group instruction you know they have the opportunity as they're working with students across different grade bands to be able to be unique

037in how they meet the cognitive demands that the students are bringing to the table and being able to personalize that level of instruction uh was incredibly great I also saw a principal participate in his weekly Monday meeting where all of the students join him on a team's meeting for about 10 minutes and he does storytelling about character education and it's inspirational and it's an opportunity for him to connect not just in person but talk about the values of being a part of that community and being a part of those respective schools it made me feel like I was watching a episode of Mr Rogers uh it was great I had a chance to meet a 10 year old his name was Ogden he was recently honored as a educator excuse me not an educator but

038an innovator of the Year by otter cares in Larimer County for participating in an entrepreneurial activity uh hosted by our County recently and what was so incredible about Ogden as he came up with this Innovation that attached a swifter to dust your house to a drone because in his schools there are really high ceilings in his house there are really high ceilings and mantles that his family finds it challenging to keep clean and what was incredible about Ogden is how his literacy skills helped tell the story for him to be the innovator that he is he had to present a compelling problem as he was pitching his problem to various community members he was showing the struggle that he has by holding a broom upside down and not being able to reach the dust that

039exists in any one of our ceilings he was really compelling about the problem and the why to justify the need for something Innovative and creative our District's focus on literacy practices is not simply helping students learn how to read and write it's to be compelling to recognize and make meaning of the context of the world that we're living in and try to figure out ways to improve it that work is happening in deep and meaningful ways across all three of our Mountain schools and I'm so excited that I had a chance to spend time there yesterday I would also say that a school that I would encourage all of us to visit as a model almost like I would say a lab school is Bethke Elementary School if you have not had an opportunity to

040interact with principal Alfonso I will tell you I continue to learn from her and the practices that are happening at that school when we've had people and visitors and partners come out and talk about the quality of our literacy practices feedback that I've received about Bethke Elementary School is that it continues to stand out to be one of the best schools that other partners have seen across the nation they do really incredible things and they do them well and they're focused on a narrow set of things not a billion things what's really interesting about Miss Alfonso's leadership is she doesn't have a leadership team it's a flat environment that she leads through committee work that empowers all of her staff to be a part of their way of work to talk about how they're going

041to move that work forward without negotiating their values and what's most important they're super tight our athletic director's wife had a chance she's actually a first grade teacher over at that school and had an opportunity to see her model instructional literacy practices and I was blown away it's a learning lab not just for children but for the adults who are there because they trust each other every so often I think it's once a semester they go out into each other's classrooms and provide feedback to each other on the quality of their instruction that culture is being cultivated through the leadership practices but also because they're a part of a community just like Aaron the teacher that we saw earlier today recognized that she's not a teacher in isolation that she can only be the great

042teacher that she is by first honoring her students come first by recognizing that her work is equally as important as being immersed with an account of an administrative team that is supportive of their teaching practices and thinking about how and not what if and she also recognized the importance of partnering with peers who are committed to Excellence in doing their work in an inspiring way I'm seeing that across the district and it's quite incredible and while I will say that there's a lot of other things I can continue to celebrate about the great work that's happening in the system I also want to acknowledge that there are still a lot of people in our system that are hurting next week myself and the team will be participating in a county-wide exercise called eliminating barriers which

043is Illuminating Partnerships to help support mental health across all of Larimer County this event will bring together Estes Park Thompson and PSD along with many other Community Partners and the goal is to identify actionable steps that we can take as a region to respond to the increased needs in our community for mental and behavioral health support while I know and recognize we'll hear more about this tonight through our strategic plan mental health and belonging continue and will be for a long period of time until we address this problem and it's gone and eradicated a priority in this system we must have thoughtful dialogue about it more often as we all know there is a stigma that exists around accessing resources we must eradicate that stigmatization if you are a family member or a member of

044our community I would ask us and all of you to continue to find creative ways for us to talk to our youth our children and young adults have so much to say and some of them are just looking for a trusted adult to be able to say it it could be our teacher it could be a custodian it could be a neighbor it could be a coach it could be their advisory a lead but I'm asking all of us to lean in together to identify are our students connected and activated in life in school and at home and if they're not let's talk about it let's find Creative Solutions to address that problem I would also ask parents if you're listening to please consider strongly engaging your students in extracurricular clubs and activities I think

045it's the soul of the community and what we do to allow students to identify their Brilliance our District offers a plethora of those activities above and beyond the courses that they're enrolled in it helps make and established meaningful connections and if you are interested in learning more I ask any of our families to reach out to our school to reach out to any of our towns or cities Park and Parks and Recreation departments to reach out to a neighbor reach out to me we'll figure out ways to partner students with activities that they love and enjoy and the beauty of this community is that there's a plethora of them we need to find ways especially before school and after school to find kids in spaces that are safe that are affirming and connecting them to

046their passions I also want to take a brief moment to acknowledge that this Friday is Veterans Day I'm really proud to have grown up in a military home my dad is a proud Army vet who served in Vietnam both of my grandparents were World War II vets one was a marine and one was a sailor in the Navy growing up in those homes I learned to establish a tremendous amount of pride and respect and not just in our country but in our service members and I want to acknowledge that many veterans who served and continue to serve our country including many of our staff members who have served and students who have gone on to serve they are and deserve to be continuously recognized not just this Friday but every day and I just think

047it's important to to note that I'm gonna close tonight by saying that we continue to move our work forward and honoring people building community and establishing and moving our priority work forward through the development and launch of our strategic plan and tonight we will share an updated draft of our strategic plan framework for all of the members of our staff and Community who participated in 35 Community sessions I'll say that again 35 Community engagement sessions I want to say thank you your feedback is invaluable to this process we will be continuing that feedback loop as we have a refined draft we're going to go back out to the community again in a different form through the form of surveys in the next few weeks one will be to students and one will be to staff

048parents in the community that we want to encourage you to continue participating as this strategic plan will forever be dynamic it will be iterative as we learn some things will go well we'll do more of that when we we realized that we come across things that didn't go as well as we anticipated we're not going to wait till the end of those three years to Pivot and make a hard direction we're going to use data to inform those decisions and we're going to use what people are experiencing and feeling as a result of the changes in the work that's happening in the system so I'm excited about the partnership I'm excited about the community and for all of those who are involved I just want you to know that you make us better so thank

049you for the time appreciate it thank you so much superintendent Kingsley the next section of our agenda is community comment and I want to remind us all of our hopes for this section of the agenda the board desires to hear the viewpoints of all stakeholders including students employees parents and Guardians and community members input that is most helpful to the board of education and District staff is that which identifies a problem and proposes a solution for us to consider that ultimately improves the educational and social emotional experiences of our students public comment is designed to address issues not personalities or Personnel matters please keep your concerns and comments focused on the district we ask that you not directly call out an individual whether a student parent Guardian staff member or Community member it is important

050to note that the board does not generally respond to remarks made during Community comment our lack of response should not be construed to mean that we agree or disagree with what is said or with a description or interpretation of events as presented by the speaker although we may disagree on some things I know that we all want the best educational experience for our students and as we participate together in this community comment session we should model for our students how to listen how to interact respectfully even with those with whom we disagree and generally how to show up each day we ask that attendees not interject or interrupt Community commenters or any presenters or board discussions if you have questions you may follow up with the staff or the board individually either after the board

051meeting or via phone or email the board and the staff strive to respond to questions in a timely manner with that I will remind everybody that this opportunity for public comment is for members of the community who registered to speak by the designated deadline those four people will be called on to make remarks in the order that they signed up and will be allowed three minutes each to address the board at the end of your time if you have not finished I will respectfully ask you to conclude your remarks immediately thank you very much and our first Speaker this evening is Ashley Bollinger welcome over there [Music] currently Bollinger I am a senior at CSU studying health and exercise science and this semester I am doing my honors thesis which is so fun and it's

05261 pages so you're glad you're getting three minutes okay so my honors thesis is about the importance of physical activity in children specifically physical education programs because that's what we can program towards easier um so I have several facets including goodness um sorry including the um I surveyed communities I did research Nationwide and I came up with some lesson plans that some teachers around here might laugh at me for because I'm a health and exercise science major but in general we're doing pretty well so that's good the nation as a whole is not doing so well so recent polls have found that one in five U.S Americans are clinically obese adults and two and five adults one in five students so so one in five children or adolescents are clinically obese in America in Fort

053Collins or Larimore County that percentage is less so the total percentage is around 18 to 19 so it's less of a problem but still a problem the surveys that I took found that the activity levels in and around school districts have decreased so for instance 50 52 of the students that responded to my surveys said that they had PE more than once per week while 73 of their parents said that they had PE more than once per week so we're seeing a decrease in physical activity in the school day an increase in obesity and everybody knows that increase in obesity can lead to many different diseases that can cause shorter life and more important in my perspective a loss of quality of life or health span as we call it so I think that this

054is an important thing that we need to increase the amount of physical education and the amount of play time that these kids have I have also accrued a list of budget possibilities so if you want to contact me for a list of Grants to increase the possibility of physical education I would be happy to answer any questions as well as any research that I've accrued I just want to give forth what I've found in my many hours of work so thank you our next speaker is Jeff afterheide welcome my name is Jeff hofterheide from Wellington Colorado tonight I want to address the specific date that Hooters School District ended their relationship with the splash organization this data is important to understand because according to the May 24 2022 edition of The Coloradoan the district made

055the claim they cut ties with splash yet this date is not documented anywhere as to when this specifically happened in my previous public comments I noted an individual named Charlie that appeared on the communications regarding the Lee family incident at Wellington Middle School in May of last year after we research we learned this person's name is actually silent silent works for the Larimer County nonprofit organization called The Alliance For Suicide Prevention it just so happens that the supervisor for Kimberly Chambers is on the board at this non-profit and the individual named silon is a volunteer for the splash organization along with board member Christian Draper it's my understanding that this person named silent currently provides training content for the district and may coordinate their activities with PSD staff it appears to me that even though

056you publicly stated that ties were cut according to core documents it looks like that's not so if this is not true then would you please provide the date of termination accompanied with official documentation thank you our next speaker is Melanie patyandi welcome good evening superintendent Kingsley cabinet and directors of the board my name is Melanie pot Yandy I'm a school psychologist at Rocky Mountain High School and the Northern Regional representative for the Colorado Society of school psychologists I'm here tonight to speak in recognition of national school psychology week which kicked off yesterday I cannot overstate how proud I am to be a part of our incredible school psychology team in PSD we have over 40 Sykes working in our district and they're all kind skilled intelligent professionals who are dedicated to our students and their

057short and long-term outcomes being a school psychologist is a demanding role that requires so many skills from mental health counseling and crisis response to psycho-educational assessment and identification of educational disabilities to behavior analysis and intervention to consultation with staff about how to best meet the needs of all students to connecting families with the community supports they need to care for their children outside of school to collaborating with teams to reimagine systems to make our schools safer more connected and more effective School psychologists in our district serve in every single one of our school sites from preschool through 18 to 21. oh they're important parts of our District's Early Childhood assessment team Multicultural consultation and assessment team traumatic brain injury team autism team and threat assessment team we have school psychologists who are building principles assistant

058directors of special education board certified Behavior analysts Club sponsors coaches union leaders and representatives on state level boards and committees I'm sure I'm leaving something out of the list but you get the picture School psychologists are awesome long story short I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank my school psychologist colleagues for all their hard work and skill but also and perhaps more importantly for being good humans if you're here tonight and have the privilege of working with a school psychologist please take a moment to give them a little extra love this week none of us do this job for recognition after all we only had a school psychology awareness week until recently but it sure does go a long way thanks to all of you for your time tonight and for continued support

059of our school psychologists and PSD thank you our last speaker is Fred Kirsch is Fred here nope looks like fred is not here so that concludes our community comments for this evening our next item is board topics and Community reports does anybody from the board wish to speak go ahead Jim yeah I'd like to do a quick update from the district Advisory Board the district Advisory Board is a group of parents from different schools throughout the district and we get together once a month I'm the board representative to that group we had a discussion we had a meeting last night and it was a good meeting so I want just to talk a little bit about that the bulk of the meeting was was spent on work-based learning we had four different presenters two of

060them were from PSD two of them were from outside PSD and I'll just say their names here the the get rid of that uh the two from PSD were Tanya Alcatraz she's the assistant career director of innovation and Nick Peterson the community and Business Development coordinator and then from outside PSD we had Stephanie Merrill Stephanie is actually funded by a grant that's throughout the community she works with not just PSD but also Thompson School District Estes Park PSD ncec and so she coordinates for all of those School those school districts to connect them with um with employment resources and then finally from outside the district was Yvonne Meyer she's the the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce VP of strategic initiatives we talked a lot about connecting students with industry and how do we really make

061all that happen better it's a win for the student and a win for the industry partners PSD uses a tool called Zello and it's a tool to that these students sit down and it helps them kind of work through and figure out their future career plans and that kind of thing where your strengths point you resumes even ways to pose questions in that tool to those currently working in your area of Interest so it's it's pretty cool stuff it was a great night because each of us in the meeting we were lent a laptop and we had our own Zello login and we got to actually play with the tool and so there I read it we clicked on one section of what should your career be and there were 50 questions about my likes

062and dislikes so I started to click through the 50 questions and I got to the end and I thought it'd be interesting to know what I should have been and in the end it told me I should be an engineer which was where I spent my career so I I guess I chose the right one um we talked a little about a little bit about the demand for internships uh the the demand was around 380 internships and the current supply of internships is around 250. so 380 versus 250. so if you run a business or work in a business where you might be able to offer an internship please contact one of the people I mentioned or just email me at jaybrokish pscschools.org and I'd be happy to connect you with the right people just

063wrapping up it was a pretty great meeting and I continue to be impressed with the way PSD collaborates not just with other school districts but also with the Chamber of Commerce and also with employers so thanks PSD thank you thank you for sharing that Jim appreciate it other board reports or comments Kristen all right um I'd just like to take the moment today to thank the the school psychologists I know it's their week this week so I want to thank you for that and I just want to go ahead and talk just a little bit if I can about what what you all do what integrative services does how that works together and where we are so if you you know I think Melanie touched upon a lot of what the school psychologists do and

064you've got individual and group counseling your SEL opportunities so your your social emotional learning preventative crisis and response and unfortunately you've had a lot to do these last couple of weeks and as far as that goes continuing care for families working within um with integrated Services doing assessments identifying needs and problem solving for some IEPs so those are just some of the things that you do collaborating with teachers administrators parents Community Partners and and specifically too with the integrated services and we heard a lot the board has heard a lot from integrated services this past week too just about what they are doing as well and just wanted to let um our community understand that right now we are in a national shortage for integrated services staff we are recruiting 10 in-house Subs we are

065recruiting five licensed certified subs and so if anybody in general education staff would like to move over to integrated Services we can talk about that and figure out how to make that work you know we just want to let everybody know that they are just so valued and so what you all do for our students you know I say this sometimes and I don't know if people understand but we often will say children can't learn when they're hungry so we feed them and it's a very straightforward thing but children can't learn when they're not mentally healthy as well and I think that's a harder thing for for parents sometimes to understand and I think Society in general right now is having a hard time understanding that right now we are in crisis we are you

066know students are in crisis I think adults are in crisis and as you said Brian we are there's a stigma that is applied to that as well and we really need to go ahead and destigmatize getting mental health help um and to that end there is there's 988 that we can call that as the National Suicide Hotline there's the Trevor Project that we can call I really want to lift up eye matter which is a state program that had another six million dollars has been appropriated to it in the newest budget and I matter just so parents who might be listening know it is six free sessions for your kids they have a hundred slots every two weeks so what that means is if you need a slot tomorrow you will be able to get

067one most likely for kids younger than 11 you need to go ahead and have families fill that out older than that kids can go ahead and fill that out and you can get help right away and one of the things that I I matter really likes to lift up is that for parents in particular I know that for a lot of us we come from a time where this is not something we've talked about but for parents seeking support for your child is not a sign of failure it is a sign of strength and that is something that I matter truly believes in and I think it's something that all of us believe in that we we understand that having kids be whole healthy and their true authentic selves in school allows them to learn

068and grow and become the magical people that we see every day so just want to say again thank you so much for all that you do that's it that's great DJ you'd like to say something yeah especially when I piggyback right after that um is that um thank you for uh Melanie for stepping up and bringing that to everyone's attention um I it is a vital part of our integrated Services team and um as was mentioned we we have uh we've gotten a few emails sharing some of the of the environment and what some of the teachers and staff is dealing with in that area and I really just want to take a moment to acknowledge that and really say that um it I cannot appreciate enough all the stuff that you have to deal

069with um I have another lens of my mom was a para in special ed and uh I got to hear stories and also get to help out with their fun night a couple times as a kid and it is a challenging task and it is one of the things that I think makes public education so beautiful is that we are working hard to educate every kid and and the staff and teachers have a huge challenge at times uh physically and mentally and so I really appreciate what they're able to do for our students and I I think this is again one of the one of the areas that I have I think that if if we truly value it as a community we need to do again a better job of funding education and being

070able to fund these areas of our public education because of how vital it is for our community um and it is it isn't all about money but it it sure would make things a lot easier if we had the funds to be able to do what we need to do for those students and for that staff but I want to make sure that you know it is acknowledged that I do see you I I might not be in your classroom uh very often but I am looking out for you guys the best I can and I really appreciate all the work that you guys do so thank you so much thank you other remarks or reports it looks like not in which case we'll move on to the consent agenda would any board members like

071to pull any item from the consent agenda again it looks like not so can I get a motion to approve the consent agenda go ahead Kristen I move that the board approved and adopt the recommended actions for the items on the consent agenda can I get a second looks like Jim Jill would you call a vote on the consent agenda please DJ Anderson aye Jim brokish hi Kristin Draper aye Rob Peterson aye Carolyn Reed aye Jessica Zamora aye motion passes 6-0 excellent thank you very much Jill our next uh item on the agenda is the second part of our action items which in this case includes the adoption of the 2023-2024 school year calendar and I believe Brian you have some folks here to talk to us about that yes that is correct this evening

072we are excited to have two representatives from our calendar committee Miss Melanie mirzwa and Miss Alicia Bono welcome thanks so much for having us tonight um our purpose is to present the 2324 school year calendar that is recommended from our committee and this is just our committee members here we've had several new committee members this year which was exciting um and Alicia and I both co-chair this committee thus why we're presenting this evening um this is a slide that just kind of talks about the purpose of our committee why we're here together is to develop that year-long school calendar with all stakeholder input if you recall last year we went ahead and did a district-wide community-wide survey and we have parameters and guiding documents that we have to follow in creating our calendar so we

073have law compliance school funding District policy and our employee agreement foreign so as we know people talk about starting after Labor Day a lot and every year is it stays hot and we have longer summers that conversation continues to come up which is why if you recall in the survey that we did last year that was a significant portion of the survey and then we parceled that out into subsequent questions which we'll reference here in a second and so as a calendar committee knowing that that is always a topic of conversation we talked as a group this fall about really if that was to be the charge of the calendar Committee in the future really where would we need to focus our energies in thinking about and this is really just uh the best thinking

074from the calendar committee at this point in time first and foremost which we'll look at the next slide is the survey that we did in 21 did not support the effects of starting after Labor Day there would be a impact on concurrent enrollment classes at the high school because of when college classes begin and end most schools in Colorado start in mid-august and in May and Athletics and other competitions would still begin in August to align with all of that first semester would end two or three weeks after winter break there would be three weeks less of instruction to prepare for CMS AP IB sat act tests and the school year would end the second or third week of June so to re-reference the 2021 calendar survey that we did people largely supported starting after

075Labor Day but they did not support it if it meant having three weeks less of instruction prior to all of the testing I just mentioned in the previous slide not ending the school year in the third week of June not trading heat in June for heat in August not ending the semester the first week of January um and and a desire to still align with large districts in the state of Colorado and so you can find the survey still on the calendar portion of the district website if you want to see those specific uh points in there so ultimately the survey data from 2021 did not support starting after Labor Day with these stipulations so as per your request we had already made as a calendar committee a draft of what it could just vary

076roughly look like to start after Labor day just to see and so you can see that here I think you also have a printed copy of that to see a little better so this is starting after Labor Day of 23 24 and then you see an end date would be June 15th you see that we put the end of first semester on January 26th and everything else we very generally put in relation to where it kind of Falls in our current calendar so instead we took a look at another recommendation and you have a copy of this as well this is the 2324 recommended calendar and I'm going to go through a couple reasons for this recommendation first and foremost it aligns with all those things I talked about earlier in the slide it complies

077with current state laws and our district employee agreement um it does and after Memorial Day due to heat consideration so we wanted to take a look at that because if we ended before Memorial Day we'd end on or we'd start on August 14th we wanted to start a little later so we'll start on August 17th in this proposal staff will start on August 10th instead of the earlier date of August 7th and the school year will still end in the month of May so the first week of school is a partial week and the last week of school is a partial week ending on a Thursday which is very preferred by both community and staff and students um and we just wanted to note that the designated staff days right now and we put this

078on the calendar um that those non-student contact days are interchangeable and will confirm those in the spring but they do not impact when students are in session and then Alicia is going to talk a little bit about how we changed a little bit of formatting for this year sorry I thought that we had a visual of the calendar so we did change the format a little bit which you'll see you'll see it's mostly blue Brad Randall had a really cool name for it that I don't remember but we have several comments in the survey that we did last fall of asking for some different calendar variations um one was so that when they printed in black and white it made sense and one showing one that showed all the district stuff like you have in

079front of you and then one that just showed when is my child in school and when does my child not have school so you'll actually see that also now on the district website which I think people will really like and Brad Randall did a lot of test runs so a big shout out to him of creating this new version but that's why you'll see how it looks a little different and so then next steps would be voting on this recommended calendar Communications I think it's the formatting is is finalized but sending that out so that our community has our calendar for next year calendar Committee of course then begins working on a 24-25 draft after negotiations is complete to align with all of the work done there and then we set said last year when

080we sent out the calendar survey that we were going to send it every two years and so we would send that out again next fall any questions excellent thanks very much just for a procedural point of view I'd like to get a motion on the table to adopt the calendar and I think we'll also have an amendment after we have the basic emotion and then we'll go part of the motion okay let's do it let's just do it in the work I move that the board approved the 2023 to 2024 school year calendar as submitted excellent do I have a second for that DJ's a second for that Kristen do you have something you want to add a question um yeah if I'd like to propose an amendment um to the calendar of in February

081and March if we could change the board of education meetings to be the first and third um Tuesdays of the month so it'll be February 6th and February 20th March 5th and March 19th um for that for that year um just because that would wait will not go through spring break and we can give all of our amazing cabinet members an actual week off um I think they're all like what that's not true but at least yeah but at least not have to come to a board meeting okay so that was sort of a longest motion but but uh the the gist of that we think you understand and we and and uh DJ DJ will second that good so is there any discussion on the Amendment first no Jill would you please call a

082vote on the amendment DJ Anderson aye Jim brokish hi Kristen Draper aye Rob Pederson aye Carolyn Reed aye Jessica Zamora aye motion passes six zero excellent that's great so now is there any discussion on the uh calendar as amended Kristen yeah I just want to say thanks so much for looking at the differences between you know after Labor Day and before Labor Day because I know it it always sounds great let's go after Labor Day but then it just you can see you know as you pointed out it just does not correlate to anything else that we want and when I say we I mean the community wants to see out of the school year so unfortunately we can't shorten the days those are or short in the number of days those are mandated so

083um but thank you so much for looking at all of that appreciate it yeah I want to second that I really appreciate you taking the time to do that you know and we know that when it gets hot again in the fall uh we'll have folks suggest that again and it'll be helpful to be able to refer to a document such as this presentation to explain why that that doesn't work and obviously we'll need to be as responsive as we can to the heat at that time and I'm sure superintendent Kingsley will do that I really appreciate your help in in helping the community to understand what all of the challenges that we face in trying to address the Heat and how that affects potentially affects the calendar so thank you very much appreciate it

084Jim when I decided to run for school board I had a friend that was very experienced in the district and they said oh my God whatever you do stay away from the school calendar and so I just want to say thank you for taking on this incredibly hard job and doing a great job with it thank you sure go ahead Brian I just want to thank both of you not just for being incredible principals and thoughtful in your day-to-day activities and leading your respective buildings but to lean into the complex challenge of working on this particular work it's incredibly reassuring to have you in the roles that you are in the inclusive approach to work with all of our various associations to continue to be agile and adaptive around how we're having the dialogue is

085really meaningful so I just want to say thank you for your leadership all right and with that uh Jill if you'll call a vote on the calendar as amended DJ Anderson aye Jim brokish hi Kristen Draper aye Rob Patterson aye Carolyn Reed aye Jessica Zamora aye motion passes 6-0 great thank you again for your work thank you for the work of your committee we really appreciate it thank you thank you guys so much and thank you Jill for the vote uh now we're going to move on to uh our final item for the evening informational report on the Strategic plan framework draft as revised right thank you presenting our strategic Plan update this evening is our District's Chief equity and academic officer Miss Marlena gross Taylor Marlena welcome thanks for being here thank you thank

086you superintendent Kingsley board and all of our viewers and Community here today's presentation is to give an update on our framework draft for our strategic plan and what has changed highlight some Trends there as well after having 35 Community sessions engagement sessions over 1700 pieces of content and comments and I do want to give a special recognition and thanks to our director of what do you do now Brett Larson no no no no special projects um because red has just been amazing in all of this it is a lot of work he has helped to really just get all of our community engagement sessions together has emceed um almost all of them completely and just really wanted to just thank you for your work and in putting much of what you see here together as

087well so as you see here we're going to go over where we are in our strategic planning process we'll talk about the refined draft and as superintendent Kingsley mentioned in his comments earlier today will get a little more detail around our community survey and finalize our framework talk about what that looks like as well as what our action teams look like so it is with great pleasure that we can check off step three being completed Community engagement session we are officially at step four of our strategic plan development process and in this step as you can see here in this chart that number one we are conducting our PSD staff and Community survey as we mentioned earlier and the survey dates are from November 28th through December 11th and we'll talk a little bit more

088about that also in step four uh we're refining we will refine our framework draft once again after the survey is over so we'll share more about that as well and then we'll determine phrasing for all of the different strategies that you see over the next three year period as well as officially turn our strategic framework draft into our official strategic plan framework so we're really excited about that and that will coalesce in March 2023 and we will share what that final plan framework is along with what our phasing is for all of the strategies that we have listed in the framework and what our phase one action plans actually are all of those things that you see here will be public will be on our website as we complete uh step four in the process

089so let's talk about our community engagement sessions if you are watching online or even here live if you click in the online board agenda you will see several attachments and board members I believe you have those in front of you as well you'll see several attachments that we will reference throughout this time first of all this is what the original draft the first draft that we took out to the community looked like and for some of you you might be able to quote certain parts of this draft but this is what it originally looked like and so after uh coding all those 1700 plus comments on the draft from our um from our engagement sessions there were a couple of themes that I wanted to point out to you the first and just the general

090themes are General themes that we've noticed is that the layout of the Strategic plan framework draft was easy to read and understand and that's really important what I didn't mention in in specifics is that we have we had several several foreign or several languages spoken language driven sessions that were completely in the language such as Spanish and Arabic and so it was really important to have a framework draft that's easy to understand and translate as well so these are themes that we noticed throughout all of our different sessions our English sessions as well as our Spanish and Arabic sessions also the language alignment across the entire draft areas we noticed some themes around are we going to say students or are we going to say Learners so those are things that we cleaned up in

091this revised draft based on that feedback and lastly of the general themes um we one of the themes that we noticed was we need to explicitly acknowledge job embedded professional learning for our PSD staff so these are all gathered from all of the comments that we had in our strategy teams which were about 60 people or so came together and helped to also highlight what the themes might be so for each of the different areas of our four priority areas I just want to go over what our themes were for safety and by and large our safety District priority areas where we're well received and much appreciated our feedback that we received is that the acknowledgment of both physical and emotional safety strategies and so we tried to make sure that we included more of

092that so our strategy teams that worked for just safety uh worked on that in particular so I want to just bring your bring your attention to the red line version that's in the attachments for safety and you can actually see the red line version how that changed from the trends or the themes that our strategy teams notice from all of the different comments so we wanted to make sure we included more language around physical and emotional safety strategies and you can see what that actually looks like for our graduate with options we wanted to include language that is supportive of all graduation Pathways and post-secondary options and these are the themes we noticed in all the feedback as well as strengthen both student and family Communications of graduation Pathways and career options so once again

093I'll just reference our red line version where you can see where the strategy teams actually went through that process to try to make sure they were crystal clear about these two areas in particular that bubbled up as themes for mental health from the comments from the engagement sessions mental health being a priority area needed to be more inclusive of students staff and families so the feedback that we received that it was inclusive of our students of course but also the desire to have it more inclusive of staff and families also we noted that it was important for students to see themselves in the identities of their teachers leaders and the mental health professionals so when you look at the redline version of mental health and belonging you will see very clearly where our strategy team

094for mental health and belonging priority area made those changes as well and then lastly but certainly not least literacy so the themes that we heard in our feedback sessions or engagement sessions around literacy is increasing literacy access and instruction across all content and courses Pre-K 12. we also heard that we needed to be very explicit or more explicit and expanding layers of support to include students with reading challenges such as dyslexia are linguistically diverse students but that is not just those two but just to be more explicit around that so when you look at the red line version for literacy you'll also see where the strategy teams for literacy made those changes here okay so from all of the red line pieces we put together a draft number two and I do have this on

095larger print paper if you would like to see it on a larger brick paper and same for anyone listening we're happy to provide this but you'll see that we have our version to our draft 2 right now and it is with this that we are going to go out and test this with our community with our teachers our staff and most importantly our students in the next couple of weeks in our survey so I know it may be hard to read here but once again we do have this Linked In the board meeting agenda as well so we're going to take this here that you see and we're going to ask via survey our community and all of our stakeholders uh once again did we get it right did we hear you correctly did we

096make the changes that were trending to the top of what we needed to do so let's talk about the community survey so our PSD Community survey will be based on this revised strategic plan framework draft this survey will open from November 28th through December 11th and it really is a time for all of our stakeholders to really be a part of this so if they were not able to come to the engagement sessions that we provided they can still give their feedback here and what really excites me in this process is actually my favorite part is being able to get the students voices so we are working with principals and they are already starting to plan out time during this window for grades 4th through 12th to actually take the survey and that's in line

097with how we normally give in school surveys from grades fourth through 12th we will be sending out the survey link to all of our community members that are that are on our mailing list as well as posting on social media so if we have any of our um our parents who would like to walk their their Littles through this from K through even third grade they're absolutely able to do that but we are making time during the school day during this window for our fourth through 12th graders to give us feedback on the revised draft it will be available in multiple languages so we're in the process of having this revised draft translate it and we also understand that we will have to have some sessions to support our multilingual families in accessing the survey

098and understanding what we're asking in the survey as well we will have the survey in print and digital versions and it will all be available on our district website of how to access those different points and finally we will have our strategic plan web page also active for feedback during the survey time so after we complete the survey what's next well our survey results will be reviewed by the same strategy teams those same 60 or so people that created the framework draft the original and the revised they'll also work with identifying who needs to serve on the action teams and cabinet will be working through how do we need to phase all of the strategies over the next three years when we will actually start the strategy each strategy I do want to know can

099last up to five years to see that strategy in completion so we'll be working together as a Cabinet to start identifying the phasing of these strategies so we know exactly what strategies we're going to do in the 2324 school year and so forth and that information will also be available when we officially launch this the Strategic plan in March next we'll identify action teams for those phase one strategies the strategies that we're going to implement and the 23-24 school year and we're going to create detailed action plans for those strategies and they will be posted on our website so at any point any of our community members and our families and staff can see and students can see what we're planning to do in those action plans please note that we will have feedback loops

100embedded into those action plans so we're constantly seeing our is this moving the needle is it strategic strategic strategy that's a tongue twister strategic strategy actually moving the needle and getting us the results that we want and how do we know so those action plans will be explicit in identifying what are our artifacts or how are we assessing if we are moving the needle and again that'll all be public on our website when we get to this point and when we officially launch sharp plan in March I know that was a lot of information but I would love to answer any questions that you might have do we have questions from board or comments go ahead DJ I had one question about the with the safety aspect well one of the things that I had

101heard out there was too about the um data data safety and student uh student data and kind of the cyber security aspect and I was wondering if that where what your thoughts were on that and how that might fall and you're saying you heard that in one of the sessions sessions yeah and so how does that yeah sure so really appreciate the question as you know we've had several executive sessions on that particular topic and are committed to continuing to move that forward to strengthen that work we felt that it was really important as to have to be transparent that we're focusing on that but also making sure that we're not creating any vulnerabilities by targeting and talking about it publicly so that's one of the reasons why you don't necessarily see it explicitly in

102this particular document but it still is very much a way of work that we need to continue to make quality improvements and focus on in the system thanks excellent thanks DJ other comments or questions oh yep I I I just want to appreciate you uh shining the light on the dyslexia and really addressing it head-on and not just kind of skirting around it so thank you for that of course other comments or questions looks like Kristen has something yeah um thank you so much for all the work that went into this I know it was um you know I've been to a couple of the sessions and it was great but there's a lot of stuff being thrown at you at lightning speed um and also for the red line that so helped me figure

103out what was new and what was changed and different um but the core of it I think you did pretty well as far as the core of it you know right from the start so um that's great um what I might suggest and I don't know if this is just me um but maybe when this goes out if we could also have like a definitions of like what we see literacy to be what we see um mental health and belonging but what that almost a it's it seems very basic but um I have to admit like I read under literacy prepare all staff to deliver high quality evidence-based instruction support foundational content media and or disciplinary Literacy for all students and my mind went immediately to disciplinary as in punishment instead of disciplinary as an

104interdisciplinary acknowledge base of knowledge and I was very confused and so I just wonder if there's going to be um you know as soon as I was clarified when I was like I feel like an idiot but I just wonder if that's going to be um because sometimes we get into more edgy speak if we can maybe use Simple definitions for people to under help us understand that especially if we're going to be putting out to fourth graders and fifth graders so that they understand what it is that being asked yeah that's a great call out and we want to we want to be true to um the right terms to use even though it feels like a little Edge you speak while also understanding that we might need to um provide some explanation around

105some things so the survey that we're sending out to our for our students to take especially our younger students we are working through having a kid-friendly version if you will of that and also for um the rollout in March is going to be more comprehensive than this framework like it's going to give more of that background and contextual information both on our website both on whatever printed materials that there are to help explain just that thank you so much because that's gonna that will help immensely um and yeah that'll be great thank you absolutely other comments or questions Jess so sort of this is like for a future thinking but when you do get to this the action steps will you kind of go back to those 1700 comments to make sure you like all

106of the things you mentioned to be that are all encompassed and they're kind of getting addressed in those finer details absolutely and I just want to point out that um the strategies um those are the what we need to do and we we mentioned this before and the action plans are going to be the how we do it and so those action teams will have access to all of the comments um that were gathered all the feedback that was gathered to see like what it specifically might apply to that particular strategy even if even if the wording of the strategy might have evolved a little bit one of the questions that we asked in the engagement session was what specific ideas do you have that the district should consider and that has that is normally

107the most informative to our action teams um to make sure that we're considering all of those things and really being thoughtful about how that shows up in the action plans foreign thanks very much Marlena thank you and the team for yeah go ahead Brian sure Marlena and Brett I want to thank you both for your leadership in this process but I also want to engage the broader team and say thank you there's been a lot of stakeholder involvement and I've continued both firsthand in terms of what I've witnessed but as stakeholders from the system and the community talk about their experience going through this process it's very affirmative affirming and positive uh and exciting I think we're actually building enthusiasm around the work as we get more clear and it's being done with people and

108not two people so I just want to say thank you publicly to everybody that's involved not just for this presentation but getting us to there's a lot of substance in there so I just want to say thank you very much thank you yeah I'll I'll uh I'll second that and I also want to thank not only the two of you but also the many many other folks who were involved in putting together those Community engagement sessions I saw a bunch of principals and teachers and other people supporting that activity so thank you so much everybody there it looks like Kristen wants to say something I just want to throw in one more thank you and that's to the community who you know stepped out and came came out to give us all of those thousands

109and thousands of comments so uh without that we wouldn't have much to be discussing right now so thank you for coming out on your um you know evening out so thanks thank you all right thanks again uh I will just add for the for those of you who might still be watching uh our next uh board meeting will be on uh an unusual schedule that is on November 29th I'm not mistaken which is the last Tuesday of November not the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week which we've sometimes done in the past so that's a point of information another important point of information for that is we expect to have several of our local legislators here with us that evening so that we can discuss education in the context of work that might be done in the

110capital during this current uh or sorry during this coming legislative session so that's something we really look forward to every year and this time it'll be in on November 29th with that absent anything else I will say that this meeting of the board of education is adjourned at 808 PM still on November 8th thank you very much foreign
