Director Roi, >> all board members present. Thank you. We are very glad to have our new board members
with us figuring out the mics. um uh they have all been sworn in and this is their first meeting and we're so glad that they chose to serve the community in this way. I would also like to recognize Abby Tovar and Sarah Venegas, our council of student representative students with us this evening. I would like to congratulate Miss Sarah Venegas um for a recent award that she received. Um Sarah was um received the emerging leader award from the Ames academic honors ceremony and that is what we have witnessed to you emerging as a leader on the council of student representatives honoring students who show exceptional resilience high level leadership in and out of the classroom and a deep deep commitment to their academic journey. So congratulations well done. If any of you Oh, if any
of you do not follow Gley Evans School District 6 on social media platforms, I recommend doing so because there are always students and and staff and all kinds of different celebrations to follow here in District 6. Um, we also would like to mention our Colorado middle level principal of the year, Nicole Peterson, and an enormous um, congratulations to her as well. Um, Brentwood has been a middle school um, to watch over the last few years. Um, that's another distinction that they've received. And so, it's just amazing um, to see the the things that are happening here in District 6. We're so pleased. Um, with that, I'd like to wish you all um happy holidays. We're excited to have a much needed break um chance to recover after a um a hard semester. And we're excited
to be celebrating all of our state qualifiers this evening as well. At this point, I would like to approve the agenda. I move I move that the board of education of Gley Evans School District 6 approves the agenda as presented. >> Second. >> Thank you all. Is there any discussion on the motion? >> Seeing none, Miss Lemon, will you please call the vote? Director Zari, >> I. >> Director Bentley, >> I. >> Director Campos Spitzy, >> I. >> Director Edmonds, >> I. >> Director, >> wait, did I say that well? I [laughter] >> Director Lamos Garcia, >> I. >> Director Mash, I director Roi. >> Motion carries 70. >> Thank you very much. At this point, I will turn the meeting over to Dr. Pilch. Thank you, President Mash. Uh, I too want to congratulate
Miss Nicole Peterson, our middle school uh, principal of the year for 2026. And as Director Ozari was saying to me on the break, he wanted to know if I'd ever been in a school district where we've had the principal of the year, the teacher of the year, the counselor of the year, and the superintendent of the year. And I have never heard of a school district who has accomplished that. And I'm so I'm so proud of of Miss Peterson and her staff over at Brentwood. Uh no one of us gets this kind of a recognition without all the people around us who are supporting us and and pushes pushing us along the way. We will bring uh Miss Peterson in for recognition here in a a board meeting after the first year. We will also
do a celebration at her school site which you all will be invited to come and join us in that and and really make a big deal of that. The other thing I want to share, um, as as you, uh, board directors know, I did make the decision yesterday to close Scott Elementary School for today. Uh we on Friday afternoon right after school was out, one of the Atmas trucks was in the neighborhood and they have sensors on their trucks and they do pick up um if there is any indication of of a possible gas leak and the sensor was alarmed and um they they believed that there on the exterior of the building that there could be um a pipe that was faulty and so uh we evacuated the folks who were left in the
building and then they went to work that night. We had crews there from 8:30 in the morning till 10:30 at night on Saturday and they were not able to isolate the leak. Um they have sealed off the gas. The building is safe, but we do have um a bit of a mess behind the building on the east side of the building where they they're working to repair the pipes. And so we will hold school tomorrow. Um and we we have put up fencing to protect the areas that um have been excavated. And uh we won't be doing any work that is of any danger to staff or students or families uh during the school day. And we'll probably have to finish that work over winter break actually because it's going to be pretty extensive. So
we won't have use of those two portables on the back of the campus uh which you know does not break my heart because I've been working hard as superintendent to get rid of portable classrooms. So um this may be our opportunity. So, uh, Scott Elementary School will be open tomorrow. And I I want to give a shout out to our District 6 crews as well as, uh, the contractors that came in and worked the weekend and and really really made sure we had a safe area and and worked hard to to isolate this and and to to address this. So, thank you to our great team and to Assistant Superintendent K Ken Henson and Director um, Phillip who who was there all all of Saturday and Saturday night and then again yesterday. So, thank you
so much. And I think you're still up, Dr. Pilch, for your honor role. >> For your honor role. >> Okay. Um, >> that was my honor roll. We'll just combine them together. That was my >> So, Nicole Peterson was my honor roll. Oh, no. I am so sorry. Let's start over. I have flipped the two. So, I am now uh pleased to introduce Mr. Sean Scribbik to do superintendent's honor roll. So, Mr. Scribbik um district athletic director, if you'll come in, we'd like to recognize our state qualifiers tonight. So, we'll bring you all up um and recognize our state qualifiers from each of our high schools. Uh really a large group of students here tonight to honor. Um and I apologize for turning the the two agenda items. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
I got here. Awesome. Uh, President Mash, board of education, and and Dr. Pilch, thank you for the opportunity to celebrate uh our fall sports. Uh, it was a tremendous fall for our athletes here in District 6. Um, just some some cool numbers that that came to my mind. Um, just under 400 student athletes participated in either flag football, soccer, golf, or um, basketball this fall at the elementary school level. And so that was tremendous. Um Anthony Osma started that program two years ago and and it's grown to just under 400 student athletes at the elementary school level that did a six-week program at one of our elementary schools. So that was tremendous. Um and then we just finished uh middle school boys basketball which was successful on Saturday. Um most [snorts] of our programs had
anywhere from 80 to 90 student athletes signed up to play basketball. So huge uh for boys basketball in the city. Um and then obviously our high schools. And so the first high school I would like to celebrate tonight is Gley West. Um JJ Barren is here to kind of give a little rundown and synopsis of the um Gley West softball team. And so JJ, would you please again thank you guys for this opportunity. Um unfortunately our softball team and our coaches uh weren't able to make it tonight. our our coaches are all coaching winter sports and stuff right now and stuff like that. But uh um you know our softball team's kind of got a rich tradition um going the last uh two, three, four years. They qualified for the state tournament again. Um uh
and and they I think they graduate three seniors and uh bring a really solid core group of athletes back to hopefully continue uh making a run for that state tournament. So thank you guys. >> [applause] >> Um Jeff Collins was unable to be here due to a conflict tonight, but uh our next school I'd like to honor is Northridge. Um and doing so will be Aaron Allen, principal Northridge High School. Um Northridge had a great fall, sent three teams to state uh cross country unified bowling and uh they were conference champions uh in soccer, so Northridge soccer. And so, um, Erin, would you please introduce your athletes? >> Good evening, board. Thank you for having us here tonight. Uh, I will do my best to be Jeff Collins for you. He's our amazing athletic director.
Um, and he has done such an amazing job of of supporting our coaches and our coaches have done an amazing job with our teams. You can see all of our athletes here today. We're very proud of our sports teams and our students that just go above and beyond and they show it every day. So, let me start by saying uh let me bring up our go boys golf. Um so, we have Ever Lewis who earned this title of state runner up in boys state golf tournament along with an conference recognition and conference player of the year honors. Very nice efforts. And do we head into the middle right after that? Is that how you guys are doing it? So, head right in the middle there. And I can have the coaches up there, too. Next,
I have my unified bowling team. Come on up. All of Unified Bowling, come on up. So, we have uh Annabelle Cox, Casper Stoultz, Ethan Wallmire, Jason Meiser, and Cole Barber as league champions, and they took third place at regionals and finished seventh at state championships. So, congratulations to them. Next we have our soccer team. Come on up. Soccer. Uh the Northridge boys soccer team uh earned a 22nd seed and qualified for the state tournament along as being a co- a conference championship finish. This is the first time in our soccer boys history that we have finished as conference champions. We have our softball team here. Come on up. The Northridge softball team also qualified for the state playoffs and found themselves one game away from making it to the final weekend. Just amazing people. Here
we go. And finally, our cross country team. Uh, our final honore this evening is Levi Aldridge, who qualified for the state co state cross country meet and earned an allconerence recognition. Uh, Northridge High School would like to thank Dr. Pilch and the board of education for honoring all of our student athletes for the fall season. And we'd like to congratulate the coaches, sponsors, and the students at Gley West and Gley Central for their accomplishments as well. So, congratulations to all of our um athletes. We'd love to get a photo of you guys. >> All right, everybody. >> Scooch over a little bit. Scooch as much as you can. >> Perfect. >> I got my first. >> Okay. All right, thank you athletes. We can go out this door right here. [applause] in our final school,
Gley Central High School. Uh before I introduce Ryan Dero to talk about their accomplishments, um just wanted to take a moment and say thank you for all of your guys' support uh especially during a historic run for Gley Central High School. Um through Anthony and the board and many others um you know finding money to help get fans and families to the game um was tremendous and it was huge and and that doesn't happen without this community and so thank you. Um it was a historic run and it was very special to share that with our community. And so uh with that being said, I'd like to introduce Brian Deo to discuss Gley Central's accomplishments. Hi guys, sorry my wife is uh out of town at a conference. Um I would like to echo Mr.
Scribbik's statement. Thank you guys so much for all of your support. I want that on the record. Um, thank you guys so much for all of your support helping get all of the fans, families, and other students down there to help with the soccer run. It really was an amazing run. Um, came up a little bit short at the end, but next year we're going to go back and win it all. Um, so first off, I would like to introduce Era Reyes and her coach, Kirk Johnston. Thank you, Coach Johnson, our head coach, couldn't be here today. She's traveling and she gave me something to read. Uh, I would like to thank you for the school board for continuing this amazing tradition. The student athletes you are recognizing tonight have put in countless hours of
hard work, sweat, and tears to go above and beyond representing their team, their school, and this school district with dignity and grace. I'd also like to thank Sean Scribbik and Brian Devo. I've worked for enough athletic directors to know what a difference a good AD can make for coaches and these are to are these two are some of the best. Finally, a huge shout out to my two assistant coaches, Kirk Johnston and Cody Spece. Their dedication, enthusiasm, andertise is unparalleled, and the Gley Central Cross country program is blessed to have them. We are here tonight to honor and recognize this speedy superstar, Era Reyes. Era had a spectacular sophomore season, becoming the fastest female runner at Gley Central in the past 20 years. After consistently running sub 21m minute 5ks all all fall, she found
another gear at the conference meet and ran 1945. That performance earned her eighth place and all conference honors. She then attacked a rough regional course, ran 1935, taking ninth place overall and qualifying for state. [clears throat] Era had a great maiden showing at state, placing 57th out of 148 runners. Eric's success in distance running is not surprising. She is incred incredibly tenacious, dedicated, driven, and oblivious to pain. She is self-motivated and willing to put in the hard work when others are sitting on the couch. She is a selfless out athlete who loves her teammates and is just as thrilled with their success as she is with her own. Era's potential is limitless and her coaches are glad they get to tag along for the ride. Congratulations, Era. Sorry. And next, I would like to introduce
coaches Dakota Sanchez and the state 4A boys soccer coach of the year, uh, Nester Perez. >> [clears throat] >> Well, um I don't have a speech prepared, but I first off I want to say thank you all. Uh thank you Scribbik and thank you Deborah for the amount of support I got this season. Um and thank you guys here as well for the activity buses, the charter buses. It makes a difference and just support all season. It truly made a huge difference for us. And just like Deborah said, we'll we'll take it next year. This season, it's my uh seventh year at Gley Central. And this is the the most fun I've had in a long time. And you know, we accomplished things we've never done before, such as winning league for the first time.
We had a couple of boys who made um all conference from first team all the way to honorable mention. We had a couple of kids who made all state which is amazing and ultimately we went undefeated and only lost the one that mattered. So it was it was amazing and the support we had this season behind Gley from you guys to the community to parents to other schools was amazing and I I can't say thank you enough to all you guys. So I appreciate it. I would like uh to really u thank my assistant coach Dakota Sanchez. He was by my side for the past four years and this year I couldn't have done it without him. So I would I would like for him to say a couple words as well. But thank you
guys so much. >> Yeah, I want to echo what coach Nester said in terms of thanking you guys for just helping us with the charter buses and just the support in general. Um I really want to highlight the boys and their resilience. Uh, I think on paper before the season started, it looked as though Gley Central didn't deserve to be on that field in Colorado Springs and through resilience and the ability not to quit, they were there and I think they can take that with them once they leave Central. Um, it also, I think, speaks volumes to the resilience that our community has in terms of, you know, Northridge players, West players. Our motto was why not us? And um I suppose my my challenge to them as well would be why not them? Um
I want to see you know all of Gley succeed, but I'm really proud of these boys specifically because they've they've overcame a lot of different challenges um more than you know I can comprehend and they were they still kept going and so I really want to just highlight their resilience, their work ethic and the the spirit not to quit. Right. So, um I would love for our one of our injured captains, AIA, uh to at least say just a little bit about how that experience was and what it meant to our boys being in that state championship in the final. So, thank you again. >> Sorry, you have to excuse my crutches, guys. I'm sorry. Um first and foremost, I'd like to thank everybody who's here for allowing to giving us the opportunity to showcase
our season, showcase our success. I'd also like to give thanks to everything that goes unnoticed from the charter buses to the support of the people to the coaches who work resiliently in order to get us to where we are. But I'd like to highlight our season as something of resilience, of a lot of fun, of a lot of hard work and dedication to the sport for sure. I'd like to thank my teammates from seniors all the way to freshman because without them I don't think we would have been in the spot that we are. I'd also like to give thanks to my parents and everyone who supported me throughout this journey. I'd also like to highlight our season. Our season was extremely fun with very with a lot of memorable things. Memorable in good and
bad ways such as me um maybe letting go the first goal in our round of 16 game that we definitely uh were very nervous about. But I'd also like to speak about the good such as the bus rides to away games. I'd like to I'd like to give thanks to my speaker because I think my speaker definitely brought out the good energy that we needed in order to secure a win and prove to everybody that we deserve to be with the best. Thank you. Congratulations. >> [applause] [applause] >> Congratulations again. Thank you so much for being here. It's fun for us to get to see your faces up close and and celebrate with you. So, have a great night. Um, the next item on our agenda is an update from our student health advisory council.
>> Thank you, President Mash. I'm happy to introduce to you Miss Rachel Hirschman, our wellness coordinator for the district, and she'll bring the team up uh to give the update on the student health advisory council. All right. Good evening, um, President Nash, Dr. Pilch, and the school board. I'm happy to introduce our couple students from our student health advisory council, and I will pass it over to Jesse Kajaniano, lead social worker to introduce further. >> Good evening, President Mash, members of the board, and Dr. Pilch. Thanks for inviting Shaq or our student health advisory council back to share what we've been working on over the past year with all of you. Um myself along with Johanna Bishop, our nutrition education specialist, Rachel Hirschman, and Megan Cooney, our wellness specialist, we have the honor of being
the adult facilitators of Shack. It began in 2018 and has grown immensely since then. We currently have 23 students from Gley Central, Gley West, Northridge, ECA University, and Frontier Academy. And we currently have applications open for next year. Um, tonight we have two students who are giving an update on some of the things that we've been doing over the past year. We have Carly Serrano from Gilly West. She'll go first, followed by Caleb Aldridge from Northridge High School. Thank you. >> Alrighty, everyone. Uh, good evening members of board of education, Dr. Pilch, and Council of Student Representatives. My name is Karly Serrano. I'm a ninth grader at Gley West, and I joined Shaq in February, and I love Shaq. Uh, today I'm here to talk about the American School Health Association conference that I attended
in with Shaq in October. So, the main purpose of that conference was to share with educators from across the country how our district's wellness policies and implementations fit into our daily lives here in district 6. During the conference, we participated in a student panel with representatives from several several schools including West, Northridge, and ECA. Uh together, we all discussed the impact Shaq has on our schools and us as students. Overall, the conference was very successful and it had many participants impressed with Shaq's program in district 6. Uh several mentioned that they wanted to start a similar program like Shaq in their district. And that's about it. Hello everyone. Gotta bring the mic down a little bit. Um, good evening, Board of Education, Council of Student Representatives, and Dr. Pilch. I'm super excited to be here
and share about SHAK. Shaq is the student health advisory council. I will be speaking about some of the events and campaigns that Shaq has done so far this school year. We participated in the wellness fair event at the Ames Welcome Center where I and a fellow Shack member helped with the smoothie bike decorations and posters. The wellness fair was for D6 staff and their families. It allowed attendees an opportunity to go to different booths and stations to get resources, helpful information, prizes, and enjoy free food. It was a lot of fun. We have participated in Shack Map where Shack members and other students are invited to sample new menu items that are being considered to be added to the school menu. Participants share their opinion on the food, such as how to improve it or
what they like about the food given. It's overall free food and great times. We recently started recruiting people to join Shack. At November's Shack meeting, we gave feedback for Northridge ProStart on our favorite food from two different groups. One of our campaigns was the kind note campaign where Shack members made many sticky notes with encouraging messages. On each sticky note was a call to action encouraging the student who got it to share the note throughout families well throughout schools and homes. This campaign was important because it would encourage the spread of positive thinking, speech, and it gave students the opportunity to show how valued their mentors, family, teachers, and friends are to them. Shaq has more events planned, such as making a paper chain. Our paper chain idea is that every school is that at
every school people will write the name of someone who has had a positive influence in their life and they will make a big schoolwide chain out of all of the names. I think I speak for all Shack members. We're really proud to be a part of a student group that makes a positive difference in schools and our entire district. Thank you for your time. And do you have any questions? >> Thank you very much for being here. I will see if we have any additional questions. Um I'm glad that you had an opportunity to give a little commercial so that you can help with your recruiting. Um are there other ways that you are getting the word out at the individual schools um about how how students can join Shaq? >> Uh yeah. So right
now we are just trying to promote on uh social medias. So if you guys want to go follow Shaq on Instagram, go do so. Uh we're just and we are actually doing a mini competition between all the schools on who can pro like recruit most uh like get most applicants and it's double points if we get middle schools, middle schoolers, and just uh students from other schools that we don't have. Do you know what schools we do not have? >> Um no, hold on. Well, we have a couple students from other schools that we need, but yeah, so we're just doing a mini competition and social medias and just trying to spread the word. So, yes, >> that's great, Mr. Rosari. >> Yeah, I have the uh honor to serve as the board representative to
the wellness committee and the Shaq is very much a part of that. And I just want to share with uh my fellow citizens uh what a great group of folks we have. um and their professionalism, including the students, and their commitment to this school district. And we can see it with your presentation this evening. I was hoping that you would just take a moment to speak about our smoothie bikes and where they're at and um what the future of that will be because that's pretty interesting to me since I had a chance to ride one and make a smooth [laughter] one. Thanks. Do you guys want to go for you? You have anything else to say? >> Um, our smoothie bike essentially gives people who ride it to blend up a smoothie that they can
then drink. And we go to different schools and encourage them. This also kind kind of ties in with the sticky note campaign where we encourage them to write a kind note to a mentor or someone important in their life. And then by doing that, it's like their ticket to riding the smoothie bike. >> Thank you. That I've gotten to ride the smoothie bike as well. It's a lot of fun. Encourages you. It's a two for one, right? Healthy healthy smoothie and and some exercise. Um, so just so that we know, you mentioned middle schools and high schools. Do you have membership from both or do you recruit eighth graders who are rising freshmen? >> Okay. Uh yeah, so for recruiting we are trying to target the youngers younger people. So eighth grade through fresh or
eighth grade through seniors, but we prefer younger just so they can stay longer. So if any of you guys have little eighth graders that are interested in health, send them over here. >> Thank you. Um, Abby Tolbar. >> Yeah. Um, I was just going to piggyback off of the smoothie bike thing. I just wanted to say, um, the mission at Shack is really like awesome. And the smoothie bike day actually is one of my favorite days at Central. So, I love when you guys are there with the smoothie bike cuz they're like these little cups, but like I always get like, you know, two or something. And they're they're always um really fun. And um, as for the recruitment part of it, I really wish that I joined Shaq when I was in eighth grade.
My sister was in it when she was, I think, in 11th grade or something. Um, and she tried getting me to join and I think it's genuinely something that's really cool and I wish I would have joined it, but um, I wish you guys luck with your recruitment. So, yeah. >> Yes. >> I had one other question about what types of dishes did you get to try with a nutrition team and what was your favorite since you did it? >> Um, yeah. At ShackMat, we basically just try all the different foods. Um I can't exactly remember all the different dishes. I think there was like this um I think there was like this spicy macaroni and cheese, something like that. That one was pretty good. I >> You were in a food coma, so you
can't remember. >> I can't exactly remember. [laughter] >> They just keep bringing more food out and you can't finish it. It's Well, thank you so much for being here. Um, and thank you for recruiting and I look forward to hearing, you know, maybe next time you give us an update who won the competition. Hope to see you around with the smoothie bikes. >> Thank you. >> So, Dr. Dr. Pilch, do you have anything else to report? Okay. I had one more thing on my list before I realized my misstep there. Um, I I just want to give a shout out to all of our music educators this time of year, our band, uh, vocal and orchestra teachers. I I learned earlier today that there will there will be 25 plus concerts over this week and
next week before the winter break. So, um, great work to those folks. They make a a big difference in our community just as the athletic coaches you saw earlier. and it's so fun to celebrate all the students here tonight. So, thank you. >> Thank you. The next item on our agenda is an innovation 2030 oper operational and organizational effectiveness update, a report from the citizens overcut site committee for the mill levy override. President Mash, I'm happy to introduce to you um Andy Haidok, our director of finance, who will introduce this item and uh the presentation. Thank you. Good evening, President Mash, members of the board, Dr. Pilch. I'm happy to introduce Gary Fuentes. He is our chair of the Mil Levy Oversight Committee. Uh he's been instrumental in leading a group of five additional U
members to help support this work. So, we met this fall and he's going to give an update of MLO spending for the last year. >> Thank you. >> All right. Good evening, President Mash, Dr. Pelch, and members of the board. As as mentioned, my name is Gary Fuentes, and I have the priv privilege of serving on the Milvy override citizens oversight committee. Um, I'm a Gley residents, born and raised here, 37 years in Gley. Um, I have a couple kiddos that attend Frontier Academy. I have one that attends Twinton and I have one in diapers at home. Um, I currently serve as the chair of the oversight committee. I'm joined in this work by Jessica Marshall. She's the vice chair. Leslie McGra, he's a secretary. And members Sarah Ranken, Mike Zeller, and Mr. Doran Nazari.
And I believe Dora Nazari is the only other committee present present. [laughter and gasps] Um, our committee con uh convened this fall to thoroughly review expenditures made with male levy override funds for the 2024 2025 fiscal year. The district has allocated these funds in the following areas as defined in the ballot language. Providing competitive market value wages to ensure schools have quality support staff like custodians, bus drivers, and food service workers. Providing adequate staff to maintain class sizes and lower them when possible. Strengthening career focused learning, technical education, and workforce readiness programs as well as upgrading facilities for these programs. preserving the program that allows any student to enroll in college level courses at AS Community College, the University of Northern Colorado, and other available institutions of higher education at no cost to their families,
providing necessary updates to student textbooks, learning materials and curriculum, maintaining facilities, continuing upgrades to safety and security systems and practices, including staff training, and allocating male levy overrides revenues based on student counts to district charter schools. Not only are the district MLO expenditures fully aligned with the intents of ballot language, but they are also clearly connected to many of the strategic outcomes outlined in innovation 2030. The integration between MLO investments and the district's strategic strategic priorities is both evident and impactful. The school of MLO or the work of MLO oversight committee is embedded within the strategic plan and many initiatives across the district and supported by MLO funding. At this time, I would like to open it up for any questions. >> Thank you very much for being here. >> Of course, >> thank you
for serving on this committee. It's very important and we always want to take the opportunity to thank our voters for passing and renewing our mill levy override. as you mentioned, it touches so many different pieces of our educational system. Um, I'm not actually seeing any questions. Um, but thank you very much for being here. >> Of course. Yeah, thank you everybody. >> The next item on our agenda is public participation. As a board, we welcome the comments of community members and we dedicate a portion of each business meeting to provide an opportunity for the community to present brief comments. All speakers are limited to two minutes for comments. Our board members typically will not respond, but we may ask our district staff to do so. All written testimony or handouts must be submitted to the
board secretary, Miss Amy Lemon. We ask all speakers and those in attendance to conduct themselves in a dignified and non-disruptive manner. You will have two minutes. >> Well, uh, good evening, Dr. Pilch, Mr. President, board, staff.
Uh, my co-consilman, uh, Tommy had a great idea right before Thanksgiving, and his idea was that we should have a, uh, turkey drive and, uh, throw a little fun in it and compete against the school district board, uh, to see who was the, um, best at acquiring turkeys. So, uh, the week before Thanksgiving, uh, we posted up over at the Safeway at Centerplace. You all posted up over the King Supers in West Greley there, and it was, uh, quite the contest, I would say. Believe the final count was 64 to 72. Um, we did run out of turkeys, so ours, our count could have been much higher. We still stand by that. Um, I want to say thank you to Ryan for finding this spectacular trophy um that I I do envision as go hopefully
going back and forth between school districts um in school board and the city council every year um kind of like a battle for Colorado but at a smaller scale. Um thank you guys so much for stepping up for our community. Um I know this means specifically um is specifically important to uh Weston um who works at the food bank who helped organize some of this. Next year we will have um hopefully two stores that where one is not running out of turkeys. Um but uh congratulations on this prestigious honor. >> Um we're coming for you again next year. [laughter] >> Thank you. And congratulations board. >> Thank you very much. [applause] >> Wow. Perfect. [laughter] >> Congratulations. Well done. >> Thank you so much. >> But I still want to say something. President Mash, I
know we're not supposed to speak after public comment, but to the city council folks, I just got to say next year if you want to win, you need to dress up like a turkey like uh Dr. Brenda did [laughter] >> for our for our side. >> Secret Yeah, secret weapon for sure. And as we continue to go against it, not usually responding, I did get permission to respond on behalf of the food bank. Um, because I can tell you that 136 families were impacted by this decision to put on this seemingly simple and easy competition. But, you know, we all take for granted sometimes being able to sit down at Thanksgiving and have a full meal to share with our families because sometimes the most unifying thing can be food. Um, so on behalf of
the food bank, thank you so much for engaging city council and engaging us as a board. Um, it was really one of our first big kind of board bonding moments for us, but again, thank you so much for just taking hunger as an important thing um that impacts so many parts of our community, including our families here in District 6. So, [applause] All right. The next or um item on our agenda is our consent agenda, which requires a motion. >> I move that the board of education agre school district 6 approves items presented on the consent agenda and authorizes the officers to sign any and all contracts. >> Second. >> Thank you both. Is there any discussion on the motion? Seeing none, Miss Lemon, will you please call the vote? >> Director, >> I. >>
Director Bentley, >> I. >> Director Campos Spitzy, >> I. Director Edmonds, >> I. Director Lamos Garcia >> I. >> Director Mash >> I. >> Director Roi >> I. >> Motion carries 70. >> Well, this was a very fun meeting that is all about our students, getting to celebrate our students, getting to celebrate our community. Um, so what a great way to go out on our break. We wish you all a happy holidays. Be safe and see you in 2026. This meeting is adjourned. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] >> [bell] [music] [music and bell] [music] >> Highland. >> [music] [music]
