Uh at this time, we will hear from five of our school principles who have brought special guests to introduce. To begin with, we'll start with Mossy Creek Middle School, Dr. Jody Dean. >> Good afternoon. Good afternoon. Um first of all, appreciate enjoyed hosting the the board last night at the work session. Um, thank you for the opportunity to come in here and and uh allow me to and the rest of these schools to talk about our teachers of the year and then our outstanding students. So, uh, first I'm going to

start with our teacher of the year. This is Mr. Jake Harvey. Uh, aside with being Mossy Creek's teacher of the year, reigning teacher of the year, he's also, uh, this past year was top five district level teacher of the year. Uh, Mr. Harvey is teaches computer science for us. Um, he does an outstanding job in the classroom. If you go into his classroom, there's a lot of hands-on activities. You may have students that are doing, you know, class of 30. They're they're they're doing 10 different things. Uh but they're all engaged. They're all learning. Uh you may have a group that's they're working on coding. You may have a group working on game design. You've got another group flying drones. Um looks a little bit chaotic, but they are they are all doing what they

should be doing and and learning along the way. And those students really enjoy being in there. Um on top of being a great teacher, Mr. Harvey also, he he if if I ask him to do anything at school, he's doing it. You know, uh Jake, can you help me with this? Can you help me that? He's he's he's on the spot. He's going to be there doing what he can to help make our school better. Um and I certainly appreciate that with with him. Um personal side, he's uh he's married to his wife, Elizabeth. Um originally he's from Indiana, so he's actually a Georgia he's he's a he's a Georgia transplant. Um little different story for how he got here. Um but he came from Indiana. Like I said, his wife Elizabeth is a media

specialist at Parkwood. He has two children that both attend P I'm sorry, Lake Joy Primary and um let's see what else does a great job. So, uh yeah. Oh, um this is something else, too. So, he's got a lot of different interests, a lot of different hobbies. Uh one of the things he he uh he does wood carvings of of ducks for duck decoys. So, that's one of the things that he kind of does on the side as well. very talented and like I said, we're we're proud to have them at Mossy Creek. So, Jay Harvey. All right. And like I said, I have two outstanding students with me. So, first, this is Reese Brett. Uh Reese is an eighth grade student at Mossy Creek. Uh she has been with us all three years of

her middle school career. Uh she comes from a family of educators. Her dad Joey is actually our athletic director. her dad, her her uncle Jason is the athletic director at at House of County High School. Uh grandma was a teacher. Uh one of her sisters is a teacher at Mill. So, you know, she education runs through her veins uh for sure. So, uh Ree is very talented. Uh and she is involved in a ton of stuff at Mossy Creek. So, she has uh she wed on our eighth grade county championship softball team this year. She has been a game squad cheerleader. She has is playing basketball right now. She has played soccer. She played or she ran track last year. Uh looking forward to her doing that as as well this year. Uh won the

four sport award last year as a seventh grader. On top of being an athlete, she's also an extremely good student and uh she also participates in our chorus um our chorus and she is an FCA leader. And in her spare time, shocker, she spends time playing tribal softball. So, uh, uh, does a lot of stuff. And again, she's a she's an outstanding student, outstanding representative of Mossy Creek. All right. And next, this is Wesley Stevens. So, like Ree, he does all the things, too. Uh, Wesley played uh played on our eighth grade county championship football team this year. He plays basketball. He played soccer, runs track. Uh he also got the four sport ath four sport award as a seventh grader. He did one up Reese and he told her this at lunch. He got

the male athlete of the year award last year. She didn't get the female. Uh he also is in our chorus program and is also an FCA leader. And in his spare time, he likes spending time with with his family. Both of these students will be attending Perry High School next year. So Dr. Billings, I know he's in here somewhere. Uh you're getting two good ones for sure. getting two good ones. So, like I said, these are great representatives of Mossy Creek and uh we are we are proud to have them. Thank you. >> Thank you, Dr. Dean. Uh next we have Lake Joy Primary School, Dr. Sonia Kefir. Good afternoon, everyone. We are so excited to introduce you to these three very, very special people. Here I have Cameron Hodes. Cameron is a second grader

at Lake Joy Primary School. He is quite the positive role model in his classroom. He is positive and makes all of his other classmates better. Um he is very focused on learning and his favorite subject is science. He said he loves doing experiments. Um in his spare time he does really cool things like basketball and here recently skiing. So I was told that that was actually skiing in the snow. So he does really cool things and so he's willing to try new things and so he's quite the athlete and quite the role model. So we are very very proud to call Cameron a lion. Next we have Ellie Kim. Ellie Kim is also a second grader. Her favorite subject is STEM and doing STEM activities. She said that she loves solving problems and fixing things.

So she is a very very respectful friend, classmate and helper to her teacher. She also loves a similar activity at school that Cameron does as well. She said that a close second favorite activity as was Cameron's is going to the treasure box. And so in the primary school treasure box is very very important, but it does show that we reward and we celebrate our students who demonstrate great behavior and attention to learning. So Ellie, we're proud of you for being a Lake Joy Primary Lion. We have Miss Megan Ble. Miss Megan Ble is our teacher of the year. She is a kindergarten teacher in her 11th year of teaching and she has made such an impact in our school community with students, staff, and families. Everyone adores her and she has just blown it out

of the water when it comes to thinking of creative lessons and activities. She said that she really believes in leading where students interests are and letting that be the heart of her instruction. And so the things that her kindergarteners do are amazing. She does amazing things with technology and instruction, but she really believes that building lasting relationships with her students is really the heart of where all things begin. And so, we are just so proud of her and all the things she does with her students, but she's also a role model and leader to the staff. She just recently completed the teacher leadership academy. She also got her teacher support um and coaching endorsement as well. So, she's just a beloved member of our community. And we're also proud that you're a Lake Joy Primary

Lion. So, thank you all three of you and thank you for allowing me to introduce you. >> Thank you, Dr. Keith. And now we have Russell Elementary School, Mr. William Wilson. Afternoon test. I just want to thank everybody board, you know, for having us out here today. And uh just it's great to be able to come out here and and uh honor our reperatives for Russell Elementary School, you know, being a title one distinguished school this year. We're really excited about that and these three uh people were a great part in us being there. And so the first person I'm going to talk about is Tyler Johnson. Tyler Johnson's a fifth grade student with us. He's been with us since preK. He is an outstanding academic student. Uh Tyler does many things within the school.

He's part of our partners club. Uh he helps a lot of our special needs programs and the partners club is very important. Uh which Meline's also part of that as well. But Tyler is also part of our safety patrol, making sure things were safety in the building as well. Tyler does outstanding job as far as academics and one of those things that his teacher talked about is him and his math skills. And one of the things he talked about is he truly wants to be a math professor. I was like, that is outstanding. And Miss Martin is his math teacher and she truly motivated him to be able to show how brilliant and talented he is each and every day within the math things that he's doing. One thing outside of Tyler uh that he

loves to do outside of school, he loves to play flag football. He plays it in the fall and the spring. Uh he plays for the 10 to win NFL flag football team. Uh so he does an outstanding job of flag football. I haven't had the opportunity to coach him in flag football yet, but I know Tyler is doing outstanding times with those. I've seen him play uh he's played quarterback, receiver, he does a lot of things with that. So I know the middle school and high school is looking forward to being able to see Tyler as he's progressing throughout those skills as well. But Tyler does an amazing job and one thing I learned about them today when we were talking about at lunch. Both of them love Stranger Things as a series. So I

know all these high schoolers are probably the same way thinking about that. But that's one thing they talked about and they could articulate everything and they talked about it and just want to say Tyler is an outstanding student for us and doing a great job. Uh Maline Pada, she's also a fifth grade student here with us. Uh Meline also has so many talents and things that she does, but Meline is an outstanding academic student as well for Russell. She's the one that has exhibited so many skills. She's in Dr. Hunnel's room. Uh Dr. Hunnels inspired her so much to be creative. Dr. Hunnel also taught her when she was in third grade and now has her again in fifth grade as well. Uh Meline is in so many clubs. She's in our partners club as

well. She does chorus. She does our drama performance. So I welcome everybody to come out and see that this spring. It's Finding Nemo. Uh she's going to be in our drama performance is very big. Uh she does an outstanding job. She told me that she wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up and wants to study sharks. Uh so I told her that's an outstanding profession as well. Uh she does an amazing job working with us things. And one of her things that she loves to do outside of school is free art. Uh that's one of her things that she does and all of her teachers that have had her in the past says that she is an amazing artist. uh told her hopefully that one day she'll be able to tie those

things into her art uh things that she does outside of school as well. Uh last but not least, we have Janet M. Janet Mai is a kindergarten teacher for Russell. Uh Janet has done an outstanding job for Russell Elementary School. Uh she's been with me for a very while since I've been there. So, uh Janet actually taught my young my my oldest son at Parkwood uh in kindergarten as well. So, she has founded those foundations. She's a sophomore in college. So, I can tell her, we talked about it today, that she's done an outstanding job just being able to provide the uh academic skills, you know, for students. And one thing that I always talk about, Miss Mai, when you go by her room, she teaches from bell to bell. Uh, and those students, she

cares about them. She tells us all the time, every student can learn and every child can make progress. And that's one thing that she shows each and every day with her students, working with them in small groups, working with them, instilling that in her team each and every day. uh when you talk to her team, they tell her all the time, she is a true leader who inspires them uh to make the biggest gains each and every day on their students. Uh she models the PLC work for them and she does an outstanding job. Uh she's at every event we do after school. Her husband even comes and supports us as well and he's a ROC at North Side High School. He brings ROC students with us as well. So, it's just a family type

thing and and Miss M is an outstanding trying to get everybody involved in those things and she does a great job. So, these are three outstanding Russell representatives that represents us as a school. That's a title one distinguished school. Thank you'all. >> Thank you, Mr. Wilson. And now we have Warner Robbins High School, Dr. Brett Wallace. >> Hey, good afternoon. >> Good afternoon. It's a pleasure to be here. Um we thank you for your support of us. And I've got three outstanding demons here. First, I've got Anna Savage. Um who is a senior. Um and she is very close to already completing her associates degree in financial technology. Um after that, she wants to attend, she's still deciding college. Um she wants to earn a bachelor's in finance um at a a great university. I

try to talk her into Jacksonville State University, but I think Um, she lists Miss Lawrence, uh, Mr. Vander Linda, and Miss Rder as some of her favorite teachers. Her favorite memories come from the several clubs and activities that she participated in at Warner Robbins High. Um, she made ton of friends, had laughs, um, and she calls out her adviserss and her peers who really made those activities and clubs um, a thing that she enjoyed. Uh, she had several awards. She's a dual enrollment student. She's been nominated for the governor's honors program, uh, Georgia certificate of merit. She's principal academic award all four years. She served as CLA class president and class treasurer. She's been in the DECA club and the Beta Club and a former softball player. So, we're very proud of. Next, we have

Micah Daniel. He's also a senior. Um he's making a decision um to he wants to major in history and be a history teacher. Um he is uh making a decision on college with Mercer, UG, and Kennesaw. Um he lists Mr. Lecausski, Mr. Noring, Coach Bailey, and his dad, Mr. Daniel as his favorite teachers. And again, um, laughing with his friends and, um, being in activities are some of his favorite moments at Warner Robins High. Um, and also presenting in Mr. Lekossk's class. He contributed to two first place awards on their academic bowl team. So, we're proud of Micah Daniel as well. And then we have our current teacher of the year, Scott Daniel. Um he's in his 25th year teaching at Waramas High, his 31st year in education. Um and he is sort of on

a a one-year renewable and we're we were negotiating on the way here for another year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um um his wife also his wife Jenna also teaches at Warner Robbins High. Um he has taught humanities and AP language for the past 19 years at Warner Robbins High. He is an excellent leader at our school. Um our school's a little different. We're broken up into different buildings. He's in the old twotory building and uh he is a a strong staple in the twotory building, a leader in there. So again, we appreciate you having us and and thank you. >> Thank you, Dr. Wallace. Next, we have Warner Robbins Middle School, Mr. Steve Resi. testing. Hey, uh thank y'all for having us. It's a a pleasure to be here and showcase, you know, all the great

things that go on at Warner Robbins Middle School, um and around the the uh the county. Um save the best for last and I really appreciate that. Congratulations to our new chair and our new vice chair. um which our our new chair was at Northside High School when I was a student there and our vice chair gave me my first job in the county. So appreciative of both of y'all. Um but I first I have AJ Kindress here. He's an eighth grader um at Warner Robbins Middle School. He's been in the gifted program all three years. Um does excellent job in the classroom. He's a a really a great student. He's a member of our soccer team which did really well this year. um and um really proud of that. He's a member of our

sources of strength program where our counselors uh Miss Everett and Miss Ford, they put the students together and they do a lot of good things in our school. It's it's a tremendous uh uh opportunity that that he takes advantage of and he's growing from and you can tell by talking to all the his teachers or anybody what a great student he is. Um, both of these students, uh, I'll tell you, they were on the esports team, and I'll kind of get to the bottom of that after I talk about Aiden as well, but they won the first ever esports championship, um, in the, I think, county's history. So, we're really proud of them for that. AJ also um, is a youth helper at his church. He told me that he likes to watch the the

young kids as, you know, uh, to help out at his church. That just shows you the kind of leadership that he does have and the qualities that he has. His teachers, I asked them to kind of tell me a little something, you know, about that student and they said that AJ consistently demonstrates a combination of intellectual brilliance and natural leadership skills. um to inspire his peers. AJ has an unwavering determination and ability to think critically under pressure um are indicators of his great potential for future achievement. AJ possesses a magnetic personality allowing him to lead others with both conviction and general purpose and u I thought that was really good. He's going to go to Hston County High School. So, uh Dr. Jones, he's gonna come over there. um he already knows he wants to

get a dual enrollment certification. Uh once he does that, he wants to go to Georgia Tech uh on an academic and athletic scholarship where he wants to play soccer. He's got he's got he's ready. Um and he wants to be an engineer. He doesn't know yet what kind of engineering he'll he'll dive into that once he gets to Georgia Tech. But um AJ's a wonderful young man. Um, and uh, we just love having him as being a representative of of Warrior Nation. Uh, next I have Mr. Aiden Jones. Uh, Mr. Aiden Jones, a eighth grader as well. He's also been in the gifted program all three years where he's made all A's all three years in the gifted. I think he's made all A's in school his whole life. So, uh, pretty amazing. Um, he's

a member of our our band. um does a great job with the band. They had band night the other night. It was amazing. Um they sounded really good. He's our TSA president. Um so the esports program that won. He's the TSA president of that program and he also is part of that that first championship here. Aiden made a perfect score on the Georgia TSA test, receiving the prestigious blue statesman pin in honor that reflects his exceptional techni technical knowledge and performance at the state level. So perfect scores is really amazing. Um his teacher said that Aiden is a high is highly articulate and expressive individual who serves as a confident leader and a strong advocate for his peers. Unafraid to challenge ideas, he possesses a refresh refreshing authenticity that provides him with a clear sense

of identity and purpose in all of his endeavors. Um Aiden is going to be a bear as well. He's coming to bear country. Aiden loves uh anime and and all of that stuff and and he wants to go. He's got he knows where he wants to go. He's and I don't know if his mother knows this. Um Miss Jones, his mom is our assistant principal for discipline. So, he's never in the office. Um unless he's getting some money or something. Um, but he wants to go to California because he wants to play volleyball and and go to an art institute and that's the perfect place because they have the best he told me they have the best volleyball um teams and the best art institute. So, he wants to go to California and uh and

pursue a an arts degree. And we're really uh proud of of Aiden. Just to let you know about the esports um championship that they won. It wasn't just for the county. The esports is over 140 middle schools throughout the southeast. So, it's Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Kentucky, all of that. And uh they were 10 and one and ended up winning the the championship, which we're really proud. They do >> great things in the TSA program. So, we're proud of you guys. Uh last but not least, I have Miss Billy Man. She's She has a scroll of all the good things she does. I'm gonna miss something. Um, she's a product of Hston County. Um, Warner Robbins High School. We're not going to say the class of She's been teaching for 29 years.

Um, in the county the whole time in She's been teaching for 29 years. the whole time in Hston County. 19 of those years have been at Warner Robbins Middle School where um she teaches gifted science and our general science. Um she serves as a seventh grade science collaborative team leader. She's the seventh grade team lead. Um she's a vital part of our tribal council, which is our leadership um team. Um and we we bounce a lot of ideas off of her and she has a lot of great ideas which makes us so great. Um she serves at the house and county science fair awards coordinator. She um is the science the Warms Middle School science fair coordinator is part of the science uh curriculum writing team for the district. um serves as a coach for

both game and competition uh squad cheerleading squads where uh her competition cheerleading squad placed third in the county championships this year. We're really proud of that. Um and she believes that every child is unique, possessing distinct qualities that can enhance their educational journey. And she cares deeply for our students. She cares deeply for our school and our staff. and she's part of the reason why Warner Robbins Middle School is such a great place. And again, thank you for having us and thank you for letting us showcase what makes us great. Thank you, Mr. Thank you to each of our guests. We love hearing from our principles, teachers, and students. Now, at this time, I will turn it over to Dr. Rogers, who will recognize our other visitors. Good afternoon. How's >> everyone? I would like

to call the cast one. It's a large group. will just take a moment. And we actually won three times conference. state, but it's because of the amazing students that they were allar. Steel. So, thank you so much for having us today. You know, before our board meeting started, they accepted the challenge. I went over here and talked to them and we decided what, guys? They're going to be here next year for >> the fourth win. Good job, guys. No, no, no pressure. All right, guys. Finally, we have two teams from Perry High School's FFA program that won first place at state and will be advancing to national competition this summer. So, if you would, if you guys would please come forward, let's hear it for their team guys. Well, thank you all for having us

and we are so uh appreciative of y'all letting us come down today and talk about our successful students. Uh we also have our new principal here with us today, Dr. Billings. If you've not been by, we we encourage you to come by and take a look. We think you'll enjoy it. Um, this year we had two teams. We had a junior team and a senior team that won at the state level. And uh, talking about winning uh, over the years, uh, we normally win this deal every other year

and advance to national competition. Uh unfortunately the the team that we normally lose to is also in county uh Veterans High School. Um Mr. Jeff Wilson and they'll do a phenomenal job. I think we beat them by 19 points this year and everybody else by about 500 points. And so it's uh very difficult to beat uh Dr. Wilson and his team, but we're very thankful to do that this year. Our junior team uh that we're going to talk about first, we had high individual this year, Mr. Rollins Neil. It's time for our board member comments. And uh if it's all right with everyone, I'd like to kind of start off again by thanking uh my fellow board members for the um the confidence you've placed in me for this role. It's um in the nearly 13 years I've worked with three excellent board chairs and I know that I have a whole lot to live up to. Um they were great. One of one of the predecessors was Fred Wilson. He said often that there's no I in team and I I believe that there's we work together and every member is vital and

um I'm excited to work with this team and with each of you. I know that our number one priority is um is the kids is the children of this district and we all want what's best for them and we're going to work uh together to make that continue to happen. Mr. Crockett, did you want to say anything? >> Yes, sir. Thank Thank you, Dr. Enrew. Uh 57 years ago, the House and County Board of Education gave me an opportunity to serve. And today, this my fellow board members have given me another opportunity to serve and trusted me uh to uh take care of this vice president, vice chairmanship. I appreciate your support and uh we'll work together with Dr. Andrew and all you guys and continue to do the best we can for our students

here. House. But I would also like to thank Miss Hughes for her her leadership. She's done a great job and I think we need to give her a big round of applause. Before we move on, is there are there any other comments from our board members? >> I I guess I need to say something now. Um, wow. I wasn't expecting that. Um, I want to thank you for the incredible honor and privilege of serving on this board of education and for the trust you placed in me to serve as chair for the past three years. When I was appointed and elected to this board in 2009, I don't go back as far as Mr. Crockett, but you know, I'm, you know, I was really young then. Um, I never dreamed that this journey would be

so meaningful to me. I've been inspired every day for the passion, dedication, and integrity of my fellow board members, our administrators, our teachers, our staff, and the families who support our schools. Together, we faced challenges and we've also celebrated successes, but we've always kept our focus on where it belongs, our students. Again, I'm truly grateful for the opportunity and I will always carry this experience with great pride and appreciation and look forward to supporting our new chair and new vice chair and my fellow board members. Thank you again. >> Thank you. >> This time we'll have our superintendent report. Dr. Good afternoon again. Congratulations to Dr. Unrew and Mr. Crockett on your election as chair and vice chair. But before I begin the rest of my remarks, I'd like to pause and recognize Miss Helen

Hughes for her extraordinary service and leadership. For the past three years as a chair and seven years prior as a vice chair, she has led this board with wisdom, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the students and staff of Hston County. Our school district and our entire community are better because of her leadership and her faithful service to the Hston County Board of Education. And I'm going to personally miss working with her as superintendent to chair. Let's hear from Miss Houston.
