001the board ready to start I'm gonna call the meeting to order please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance Julie can I have attendance please yes Robin clique here Julie Clifford here Stephanie Peters here Carl Borchers here Michael Angle here George Feevet here Joel Finfer present okay that's seven present zero absent it's exciting to see such a full house here tonight before we move on to recognition I will invite public comment is there anybody from the public who wishes to comment please step up and state your name for the record hi my name is Holly Aronoff I'm a current Hawthorne parent and I'm also a nurse that works at HSYL or the kindergarten building I'm here to share some positive news this past weekend I attended a two-day overnight outdoor education program at YMCA Camp Duncan

002in Ingleside I organized this trip with 32 Hawthorne students as like a pilot program and modeled after mechanics Grove mechanics Grove is district 75 in Mundelein it's an elementary school and they've been successfully running their outdoor education program school sponsored for 20 years students participate in activities like kayaking team building tower climbing and a predator versus prey simulation that taught the importance of having balance in the food chain and incidentally my son had a test this week in science and he said what he learned in that actual program helped him answer a question on the quiz and it was like wait big win so that just illustrates how you have strong curricular connections I am also one of the organizers for the Hawthorne travel committee I recognize some faces from the DC trip we do

003the eighth grade DC trip and Springfield st. Louis trip for seventh grade but I want to just make it clear that I am not advocating for those trips to be school sponsored ever for a variety of reasons however the outdoor education program is different it's more accessible it's local far more affordable and you get the same value and that you have direct curricular connections to like science and environmental studies and also social emotional learning these kids get to bond in a way with the overnight stay that you don't during the day so I'm proposing that hoping that that could be added to the agenda for next month's meeting thank you for listening thank you is there anybody else from the public who wishes to comment tonight I'm what Holly said because so my name is

004Jen Tate I brought my daughter Kelsey with me today and Kelsey and her second grade brother Landon both attend the school of dual language my husband Jeff and I enjoy volunteering at the school we've met wonderful families we think it would be really beneficial if the school sponsored this six-rate outdoor it was kind of a really great trip Kelsey was hoping that more students would be able to participate we tried our best word of mouth to get that out to students and Holly opened it up to different schools as she could I was an overnight chaperone I witnessed soaring behavior throughout the trip Kelsey sometimes is a little bit she feels shy sometimes and struggles socially she's okay with me bringing that up because the trip was really beneficial for her and so there were

005the structured events and then there was the free time and everyone always said Kelsey do you want to participate in a pillow fight or you know something and the first night she just kind of read and she just which was great there's another student that read too by the second night she was fully participating running around outside had a great time and then on the last day she actually participated in the scavenger hunt with kids from another school which was really awesome so I we just feel like the outdoor education trip would be a really great experience and Kelsey hopes that next year if it would be school sponsored that potentially more students could participate and have the great experience she did so thank you is there anybody else from the public who wishes to

006comment tonight going once going twice gone okay I'm going to turn it over to our recognition committee Carl and George it looks like there's definitely recognition tonight so I'm going to turn it over to you there certainly is thank you Robin our first recognition tonight is for Paulina Zykovska a teacher from elementary south Paulina was nominated by her colleagues Nicole Cooper and Addie Curcio in the nomination Nicole and Addie shared that Paulina is a dedicated advocate who ensure students with diverse needs can navigate the general education schedule successfully she stayed late multiple times to create specific visuals and schedules required for student success she provides differentiated work to help students engage in class based on their specific interest and learning levels she's also able to shift the class when a crisis occurs and provides consistency

007to all her students she's a shining example of what Hawthorne 73 teachers should be in addition to that nomination elementary south principal Lisa Anderson wrote to us to share Paulina is a truly special teacher who brings a level of dedication and maturity to her work that you don't often see in someone so early in their career she has shown an incredible development of classroom management she has a gift for building a classroom that feels like a real community a place where every student feels they belong and also knows what to expect and to give their very best she doesn't just teach lessons she looks out for her students advocating for what they need and taking their success personally she's been an amazing colleague stepping up to organize the team when a specific student was struggling

008Paulina is a natural educator with a bright future ahead Paulina on behalf of the Hawthorne Board of Education we want to thank you for everything that you do please come forward to receive your certificate and take a photo next we are proud to recognize the sixth and seventh grade middle-north boys volleyball team this team recently became conference champions this feat requires not just individual skill but a high level of communication trust and resilience on the court this team showed exactly what it means to work together under pressure representing Middle North with great sportsmanship and school pride congratulations to the team please come forward to get your certificate in metal when you hear your name called Owen Anthony Umar Matthew Ed Brian Bobby Will Matthew Jordan Victor Dennis Vian Henry and Ian if you've gotten your

009certificates you can come up to the front to take a quick group photo don't be shy we're here in closing out this evening's recognition we want to celebrate our middle school wrestling state qualifiers representing both Middle North and Middle South before we ask the coaches to come up the board would like to give a special shout out to amen from Middle North who placed first in the state congratulations such a remarkable accomplishment and now I'd like to invite coaches Michael Becker and Christopher Volpe to the podium to share more about the state team coaches how are you I'm Chris Volpe head coach of Middle North thanks to the board for this recognition our guys put in so much hard work and effort and to be rewarded with this is fantastic thanks to the parents for

010the early mornings the late nights all of the things that they do behind the scenes we really appreciate that thanks to my fellow coaches and all of their help and to our we had four at Middle North we had four guys make the state wrestled into the second day which is extremely tough tournament and so all four of them get props and then of course I'm in winning winning state is something that hasn't happened since 2018 at Middle North so phenomenal job and also speaking for North we had about 70 70 girls and boys in the program which was phenomenal I think that's the most we've ever had we built a great family rapport and camaraderie that was definitely felt and and grew throughout the year we have a girls division coming up next year

011so hopefully we're honoring we had about ten girls in the program so they will have their own division so we hopefully will have some more state champs to recognize this time next year and so anyways thank you very much appreciate it thank you coach Volpe wrestlers please come up to receive your certificate and medal when you hear your name and I'll turn it over to Jessica or Samantha either or Demare, Alex, Alex S, Daniel G, Peter P, Jonah S, Santi H and of course I'm in A thank you everyone this concludes this evening's recognition okay congrats again feel free to get up and exit if you do not want to stay for the rest of the exciting business meeting have a good night okay I think we're gonna be on an official recess then okay

012okay I'm gonna continue are there any announcements this evening okay moving on to my president's report it is a little longer tonight than usual so I apologize in advance a big happy 25th anniversary to our dual language program at the time that it was started it was one of the first of its kind and now we have other districts coming to look at our program to model theirs after and that's really exciting and I know that they had a great turnout of about 750 people at their anniversary celebrations so thank you to everybody who came and supported really proud of all their success board members if you did not file your statement of economic interest yet May 1st is the deadline fast approaching here eighth grade promotion ceremonies are on May 29th Middle North will

013go first at 6 p.m. followed by Middle South at 8 p.m. at Vernon Hills High School let me know if you'll be attending and if so whether you have any interest in delivering the commencement address at one of the ceremonies I will write it on behalf of the board so there's a consistent message at both middle schools but if you like the spotlight let me know please RSVP to Jessica for the Hawthorne Honors Banquet on May 11th it was briefly described in Pete's last Friday update I'm sure everybody read that I know I've mentioned this on occasion just want to remind the board feel free to contact Pete and Jessica if you want to do any building tours I've been continuing on my annual tours here since our last meeting I've been to Lincoln Hawthorne

014School for Young Learners and the dual language school really fun to see our students and our staff so highly engaged even if you just observe like five minutes of a lesson you can kind of watch an amazement as our teachers successfully blend like the core content with an SEL lesson and whole body listening and you know good classroom manners and kindness to others so it's really a great reminder of why we're here and who we serve so I would encourage everybody to try to get to those on occasion and then just a summary real quick of the latest Green Oaks Libertyville Vernon Hills networking meeting which occurred today our very own Sol Capitola presented on our what she's accomplishing as family liaison really nice presentation and good feather in the cap of our district doing

015so much positive community events gathering people together providing resources serving needs where they aren't otherwise met she also presented with the district 128 liaison and they're kind of modeling a lot of what they're doing after what soul has done so it's great to know that for the majority of our students and families who utilize those resources there will be continuity when they move on past Hawthorne okay I'm gonna be quiet now mr. Finfer is there an Ed Redd report there is as I've mentioned before there so much nuance involved when you're dealing with legislation and advocacy it's a challenge but I like to boil it down to really a score sheet as of Monday 113 bills related to education were voted out of committee consistently none of them were good it should be comforting to

016know that nothing will benefit public education as we know it the session or not the session but the deadline to submit bills is tomorrow so I suspect that this time next month we'll have a few more bills to not talk about but to be nervous about it there last year there was a limit per representative of five bills per representative that they could introduce and because it's a slate legislature there are also exceptions but that said Ed Redd battles passionately on behalf of its 90 90 district members okay on that note we'll strike that from the record just kidding we're not allowed to do that okay mr. angle is there a seat all report there is our last executive board meeting I should say the last executive board meeting was actually this morning it was

017a special meeting on the tentative budget for 2027 our last governing board meeting was on March 4th in regards to the tentative budget it will be presented at the April 23rd executive board meeting for approval to be recommended to us at the governing board for review at our June 3rd meeting small group budget meetings with member district administrators and staff will occur in May the budget development process was previously approved unanimously by both the executive board and governing boards and just as a reminder it's going to be calculated as 25% district equalized assessed value 25% district enrollment and 50% average daily enrollment across all seat all programs 2026 2027 governing board meeting dates have been provided the meeting dates will be approved at the June governing board meeting and July executive board meetings governing board

018dates are listed were as of right now for August 5th December 2nd March 3rd and June 2nd as we go into next year our next executive board meeting is April 23rd and the next governing board meeting is June 3rd okay thank you so much is there a site and facilities report Stephanie or George there sure is a bunch of good stuff we talked about last week mr. Feeva and I were both present we have had some ongoing conversations with the our with our electrical co-op we are reviewing opportunities for solar credits they anticipate that electrical next year will go up between 13 to 17 percent and gas will go up between 8 and 10 percent there is an opportunity to discuss solar credits but I will give that caveat that we need to really have

019a conversation about it it's a very complex process and it's a new opportunity so I think we need to have a discussion that is of course the benefit the opportunity to do solar credits first and having to do a capital project of installing physical solar panels which is not something I think we have an appetite for right now we also talked a little bit about the student iPad leases coming up on the last year we're gonna need to move some funding through debt service in order to approve those it's just the normal part of the doing business for us we do have the first student transition coming up I know all of you know that we are moving from Lakeside to first student for our bus service it does require board approval because it's a

020change the contract we also have a lot of construction coming this summer so if everyone wants to just be prepared that the summer sorry this spring we need to kind of all be prepared for some delays in terms of the bus system they are proactively working on it in terms of routes and making sure that everyone is well informed on the app just know that there is a good amount of construction in the district this year and it will be impactful to timing so please keep an eye on your app a couple of other good things we've got the food service audit coming for Quest the Heritage fair is coming up as well I know that's really exciting folks are we've got a good group of families I think that are participating so everyone should

021keep an eye out for that and then Kevin continues to do great work on the technology side now that he's on board we're really excited I know he's got some big work going with the workspace and hardware options that's about it okay thank you very much Julie or Joel is our wellness committee report I'll handle it Joel so we did have another wellness committee on the 14th there we did talk about how we go about measuring the different pillars of the whole child you know it's an initiative we work in we've been working on for the last two years so as it sits today out of the different indicators so for healthy we are currently meeting ten out of the ten indicators same with engaged and supported two areas of opportunity for us to continue

022to prove on is safety we've had met nine out of the ten indicators and for being challenged eight out of ten we also had a visit from Quest food services who also walked us as well as our community and all the students that were there about their approach around making sure that we have these nutritious meals so just putting out there for any students or teachers they're always looking for suggestions okay thank you and do you have a key to 73 foundation reports I do I do want to put out there that for the key to 73 that we will be having some openings for secretary or treasurer or just general open rolls for volunteers so if there is interest by all means please reach out we are also looking at 2026 2027 school year

023and trying to identify ways that our foundation really wants to make an impact within the community I know there's PTO and they kind of lead the community within the school so key to 73 we kind of lead more of that community support outside of the school so things like our food pantries toy drives coat drives and I wouldn't be doing my due diligence if I also did not make sure you all knew that the golf outing is also coming up coming up here in June so make sure that you sign up to be a golfer or if you would like to donate we will be having silent auctions so you can donate towards those or if you want we can donate our your time as well so also want to do a moment of doing

024a shout out specifically to the PGA Superstore who Pete has emphasized been a really great partners through this so awesome thank you okay moving on to presentations I'm gonna now turn it over to our assistant superintendent miss Jennifer Aiken and mr. Adam Palmer to present the 2026 2027 salary and benefit presentation thank you president clique this is typically the time of year when we bring forward salary salary recommendations for our non HEA staff including non-represented support staff building assistant supervisors and administrators and that request will come before you later in tonight's meeting in addition to that request the human resources and business offices wanted to take a few minutes to provide a broader view of our total investment in staff this includes not only salaries but also benefits to give a more complete picture of

025how our financial resources support our people this brief presentation highlights the overall investment Hawthorne makes in its staff and reinforces our continued commitment to supporting those who serve our students every day everything we do starts with our mission to achieve learning for all everyone every day we must have a stable professional infrastructure this includes not just the teachers in the classroom but the leaders and support staff who ensure those classrooms are safe functional and aligned with our PLC goals we view the staffing plan as an investment not just an expense strong salaries and benefits help us attract and retain quality staff which directly supports our mission and core priorities at the end of the day stable staffing is what creates strong learning environments and better outcomes for students what this really comes down to is

026the connection between our staff and student success high quality educators are the most important factor in positive student outcomes to attract that level of talent we need competitive salaries and to retain them we need comprehensive benefits when we retain our staff we create consistency in our classrooms and that stability supports effective learning environments ultimately investing in our staff is one of the most direct ways we support student achievement as we make these investments we remain grounded in our financial commitments we operate with a focus on fiscal responsibility maintained fund balances within board policy and continue to invest in capital improvements these guardrails ensure that our staffing investments are sustainable our planning priorities guide how we make decisions we continue to honor contractual commitments maintain transparency and manage resources responsibly at the same time we are

027prioritizing reductions outside the classroom so that we can continue to invest in our people salaries continue to represent our largest investment as our staff are central to student learning overall we are projecting an increase of approximately five point five three percent across all employee groups primarily driven by contractual obligations and staffing needs licensed staff and educational support personnel are each projected to increase by just over six percent in alignment with their salary and wage and wage grids building assistant supervisors follow a similar structure with projected increases of about five point seven percent while administrative salaries are projected to increase by approximately three point four percent the only area showing a decrease is the non-represented staff due to a slight reduction in positions however current employees in this group are still expected to see an overall

028increase of about two point nine one percent for administrative and non-represented staff annual increases are either three point two percent or two point seven percent depending on where that employee falls within their respective salary band staff on the retirement track receive a six percent incentive in total benefits are projected to increase to just under ten point nine million health insurance remains the largest driver followed by retirement contributions and payroll taxes these projections reflect both market trends and our commitment to maintaining strong benefits this slide illustrates compensation overview of single and family coverage and how it is applied to non-administrative Hawthorne employees based on Hawthorne's average base salary of sixty eight thousand three hundred and forty seven dollars these examples highlight the total gross investment Hawthorne makes in staff accounting for base salary district paid insurance

029and employer paid taxes under both single and family benefit plans it is important to note that district paid pension contributions were not included within these examples because they are they vary greatly between employee groups all of our staffing event investments are moving us towards closing the gap in both recruitment and retention which will help us become more aligned with peer districts comprehensive benefits and professional growth opportunities further strengthen our workforce stable staffing ensures continuity in our programs and classrooms and when we have consistent high quality staff in place we see stronger schools and in turn a stronger community one of the clearest indicators priorities is how we allocate our resources the percentage of the district's operating levy dedicated to salary and benefits has increased from eighty point five percent in fiscal year twenty four to

030a projected eighty six point eighty nine percent in fiscal year twenty seven this is a deliberate decision to prioritize people and align our financial plan with our strategic focus on student success that concludes our overview of the projected personal investment for fiscal year twenty seven in the past approval of non HEA salaries was often handled as a routine business item this year we wanted to provide a more comprehensive view so the board our staff and our community can see how this request fits within our overall investment and personnel this plan reflects our commitment to investing in our people through salaries and benefits that support recruitment retention and stability with nearly eighty seven percent of the district's operating levy dedicated to personnel it reinforces that we are a people driven organization most importantly this investment supports

031consistent learning environments and sustained student success we would be happy to answer any questions at this time so anybody have any questions for Jennifer Adam okay thank you both so much I'm going to now turn it over to Miss Alicia Corrigan assistant superintendent of student services to discuss the Hawthorne D 73 memo for memo MOU for the student resource officer thank you in front of you you have the update or you have a memo reflecting an updated agreement that that mirrors the board policy readapted 7 colon 190 and Illinois law which prohibits school resource officers from issuing fines tickets or citations to students as disciplinary disciplinary consequences on school grounds or during school transportation the agreement also includes provisions related to confidentiality training collaboration and annual program reviews these provisions align with the district's existing

032intermental intergovernmental agreement but an updated law went into effect on January 1st requiring school districts to have a memorandum of understanding regarding the fines tickets and citations in place by July 1 anybody have any questions about the MOU all right thank you I'm going to turn it back to Jennifer Aiken to discuss the 2026 2027 student transportation services and the resolution transferring funds from the educational fund to the debt service fund thank you as a reminder first student acquired lakeside transportation in January 2026 first student has agreed to honor the existing transportation agreement through the 2026 2027 school year given this change in vendor the business office is seeking formal approval from the Board of Education to continue transportation services with first student under the terms and conditions of the current agreement for the 2026

0332027 school year should the board elect not to continue services under the existing agreement direction may be given to the business office to initiate an emergency bid process for transportation services are there any questions about the transportation reading the memo from first student it implies that we're actually still working with lakeside as a subsidiary when it comes time to talk contracts are we going to continue working with lakeside or will be we will be will we be working directly with first student going forward over the next several months they will be rebranding all the buses and the billing will all say first I knew we were branding but but yeah the wholly owned subsidiary is different than just a branding exercise on a bus I just I agree was curious going forward are we working

034with the larger corporation or we are a local subsidiary no we are we are working technically with first student okay but they're keeping lakeside intact as we know it right now okay but I wonder if that was going to dissolve at some point maybe that's a finer point alright thanks sure and I just wanted to quickly confirm that there is no changes like we're going to continue to have the app capabilities when students are scanning in and getting on and off the bus and yes we are going to continue with the hardware that we purchased that bus tags and the app the k-12 app they use a different app so over time we thought our hardware and software would last about three years as that comes to the end of its life we will transfer

035over to the first student but so they will honor though that hardware and software that we've already purchased though they will okay miss again are we thinking that next year we would likely move to their platform for the bus ticketing and stuff like that they're not giving me a date but for 26 27 we would continue to use our bus tags okay and our k-12 my ride k-12 app and then by the time we have to go out to bid it may be something different anyway exactly got it okay thank you but that will be part of the new contract yep and we won't have to buy that as a separate thing moving forward great thank you the second item for discussion this evening is the resolution to transfer funds from the Ed fund to

036the debt service fund as the board is aware in 2024 the district entered into a long-term lease with Apple for student and staff devices for accounting purposes the lease payment must be made from the debt service fund which will require a transfer does anybody have any questions about the transfer thank you thank you dr. Hannigan is there a superintendent's report there is I just have one item as you know returning student registration is officially underway we're encouraging all Hawthorne families to complete registration by May 1st to take advantage of the early bird rate district-wide we are currently at 46 percent registers so we still have a lot of work ahead of us to reach our hundred percent goal by May 1st as it has become the tradition the last this would be year three our

037annual registration race is on there's a bit of friendly competition across our schools with the winning office earning both bragging rights and a well-deserved breakfast treat and as of right now the Hawthorne school for young learners is in the lead so not that I'm looking at my building principles but you need to get after it we need you're not last but you're not in the top three so anyhow so let's get after a community we 100% by May 1st to get that early bird rate early bird discount and that concludes my report for this evening thank you moving on to the consent agenda tonight's consent agenda consists of board meeting minutes for March 18th 2026 closed session minutes for March 18th 2026 an expenditure report from April 16th 2026 the Amazon expense report from April

03816th 2026 mastercard report from February 23rd 2026 the treasurer's report from February 2022 2026 the approval of fiscal year 27 administrative salaries approval of fiscal year 27 building assistant supervisor salaries approval of fiscal year 27 salaries for tier 1 tier 2 tier 3 and tier 4 personnel and a personnel report consisting of four new hires two retirements 11 leaves of absence and one change of status does anyone need any items to be taken out and voted on separately I do seven point one and seven point two thank you can I get a motion to approve items seven point one and seven point two on the consent agenda so moved second motion by Carl seconded by who was it Joel can I get a roll call vote please Carl Borchers aye George Pheavitt aye Stephanie Peters

039abstain Joel Finfer I Michael Engel I Julie Clifford I Robin clique I that is one abstention can I get a motion to approve the remaining consent agenda items as presented so moved second motion by Michael seconded by Joel can I get a roll call vote please George Pheavitt I Joel Finfer I Stephanie Peters I Carl Borchers I Michael Engel I Julie Clifford I Robin clique I motion passes seven aye zero nays okay moving on to the action items the first action item on our agenda is the consideration of a resolution regarding the county school facility occupation tax as a board we are acutely aware of the heavy burden already carried by our local property taxpayers at the same time we're navigating a landscape of highly uncertain federal funding for public education and declining reimbursement for

040MCATS we want to continue securing our facilities and supporting our students safety and mental health without continually relying on local homeowners we've collectively been tasked with identifying alternative revenue streams under Illinois law school districts can petition the regional superintendent to place a 1% countywide sales tax measure on the general election ballot by law these funds can only be used for facility or security upgrades and the funding school resource officers and men and funding school resource officers and mental health professionals furthermore because sales tax is paid by anyone shopping in Lake County it helps shift funding away from local residents alone about 52% of sales tax revenue collected comes from non residents of Lake County to pose this question on the November 20 26 ballot school boards representing more than 50% of Lake County student enrollment

041must pass a resolution like the one before us tonight I want to be clear passing this resolution does not raise taxes what it does is it puts the power where it belongs in the hands of the community passing this resolution simply allows Lake County voters to have a voice at the ballot box in November I'm gonna turn it back to dr. Hanigan to review the next action item on the agenda tonight tonight I'm presenting to the Board of Education the recommendation to approve contract renewals for dr. Allison Stein our assistant superintendent for teaching and learning and miss Alicia Corrigan assistant superintendent for student services as outlined in your board packet both contracts are for a three year term dr. Stein has continued to lead our teaching and learning work with a strong focus on curriculum

042instruction and continuous improvement across the district and miss Corrigan has provided study leadership and student services ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of all learners while maintaining a focus on compliance and student support systems both leaders play a vital role in advancing our district goals and supporting our students staff and I respectfully recommend the board's approval of these two contracts okay and I'm going to send it over to miss Jennifer Aiken to review the remaining action items on the agenda the first item is the business the continuation of those transportation services that I mentioned earlier the business office recommends that the Board of Education approve the continuation of transportation services with first student for the 2026 2027 school year under the terms of the existing agreement originally established with Lakeside transportation this represents the

043final year of the current agreement and a formal bid process would be held next year are there any questions about this one I think the only clarification would be if we said no we'd be going to an emergency bid next year and we'd still have to go out for bid after that correct okay go ahead sorry go ahead read on no there's more item oh okay please go ahead many more items so sorry I apologize now no um the next item is the consolidated district plan each year the district plans for grant funding to support student needs beginning with the development of the consolidated district plan included in this evening's board packet is the required grant planning document which must be submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education prior to applying for any grants

044as part of this process the business office applied for and received approval from the Illinois State Board of Education to designate townline elementary and middle school north as school-wide title one buildings for the 2026 27 school year we all the assistant superintendents and myself respectfully request that the Board of Education approve the consolidated district plan so that it may be submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education once that's approved the district will be positioned to apply for grant funding as those applications become available next I have a couple of contract renewals the first one is the food service renewal the business office recommends the Board of Education approved the renewal of the agreement with class food management for the upcoming school year this reflects a 3% increase over the previous year and it represents

045the second renewal under the current contract and supports the continued service of consistent food and service for our students the next contract renewal is landscape the business office recommends the Board of Education approved the renewal of the agreement with Jillio landscape for the 26 27 school year this proposed renewal maintains the current pricing structure allowing the district to continue receiving consistent landscape services with no increase in cost the last renewal is waste disposal the business office recommends the Board of Education approved the renewal of the agreement with waste management for the 26 27 school year reflecting a 10% increase as outlined in the original contract this would represent the final year of the current agreement and we would be going out to bid next year next is the custodial bid results the facilities and business

046departments conducted a formal bid process for custodial services during the winter months 13 vendors expressed interest in providing services to the district and eight vendors submitted responsive bids following a comprehensive review and evaluation of those proposals the facilities department recommends the Board of Education award the custodial services contract to GSF USA incorporated as their proposal provides the best overall value based on cost service reliability and continuity of operations the annual cost for the first year of the contract will be 1 million three hundred forty seven thousand five hundred and thirty seven dollars and ninety eight cents which equates to approximately one hundred and twelve thousand two hundred ninety five dollars per month this represents an overall two point one five percent increase compared to the district's current monthly spend for custodial services and lastly the

047business office and technology departments request that the Board of Education approved to dispose of Apple devices that are no longer usable for instructional or operational purposes upon approval the devices will be transferred to diamond assets for evaluation processing and sale following inspection the district anticipates proceeds from the sale of this surplus equipment to range between five thousand three hundred forty nine dollars and eight thousand nine hundred and fifteen dollars based on the condition of the devices thank you for listening are there any questions for Jennifer okay before we move on to voting I just wanted to let the rest of the board know that there are very specific rules for how we have to call this motion for the county school facility occupation tax vote it has to be the board secretary so it's gonna

048be a little different tonight in that I'm gonna turn it over to Julie in one second but first are there any comments or questions about the action items before we start voting okay actually I just in the spirit of the way we operate as a board I just want to ditto the opening comments you made on behalf of the tax vote is very clear and precise and I think it made it made it very clear for the community what the intent of this is so thank you for doing that yeah my pleasure anybody else okay over to you Julie can I get a motion to approve the resolution directing the regional superintendent of schools for the county of Lake Illinois to certify the county clerk of said county the question of imposing a retailers occupation
