We do have an update um

for strategic plan action plan 3.1. Um and tonight with us we have uh John Randich Jr. um as well as uh Gabriel Garrett, our PPS coordinators. Andre Buouie also was supposed to be here. He his family has taken ill to the sicknesses that is going around. So um I know we're in good hands. So I'll turn it over to J.R. and Gabrielle. >> Good evening everybody. Um, we meet on Fridays and um, we call it the dream team. So, there's only two of us here tonight from the dream team. Also, I wanted to um, I knew we were the only presentation tonight. So, I spent some time after school really trying to find a good dad joke that would relate to this presentation. And despite my efforts, I couldn't find a good one. So, maybe

next time I present, we can do it. Mr. Halahan likes a good dad joke. I like a good dad joke. So, maybe next time. Uh but yes, 3.1 um as you as you know uh strategic plan three is uh uh efforts to improve attendance and academics. All right, specifically speaking 3.1 um is our action plan uh that we want to strengthen students uh academic and career readiness. All right, I would like to highlight a couple pictures. Um I'm going to use a pointer as well if I don't mess it up. Um thank you George for your help today with that. That was um we were a little worried about the pointer. Couple pictures here. Um so the bottom one was at the central um oh boy what we call firstgen celebration. Sorry. First gen celebration.

First year we did a first year gen celebration. It was awesome. I think we had just under I want to say 300 juniors uh at the in the central auditorium. We did it in the afternoon. We had some guest speakers. Actually, what's on the stage are some graduates that came back to talk to our uh as a panel to talk to our students about their their life at uh in college and and beyond. Uh and then um that is a west one as well uh on on top there. So again, West and Central both had firstg celebrations this year. Um and we don't see any reason why we wouldn't continue with that. It was a great success. A couple highlights. So, Miss Garrett will talk about school links a little bit more. We have some

screenshots. She's going to go through all of that with you, but but quite a bit of work this year with school links. So, for example, um we have our course planner in school links. So, our counselors pushed in this year to um different classes. Uh I actually did an observation. It was fantastic. Um and so the students are really, generally speaking, have really bought into school links. Um and so we've been able to uh really um Miss Garrett had a lot of experience in her previous employment setting that up. She and um Mr. Buouie really have done a lot of work. I help when I can. Um it's not my area of expertise, but I help when I can and really a lot of work with school links. Um and so she'll highlight some of

that in in just a bit. Um and then the the first year of the personalized post-secondary plan for seniors. So that was a big point um uh with school links and we're we're able to do that as well. Uh another highlight postsecary planning team at both campuses. Central campus is on year two, west campus is on year one but both um planning teams have been able to um not only get good membership and good conversations but uh also have started talking about lesson planning on how we can push into some academic classes. So that really has been a highlight of both of those uh planning teams at each campus. Again, I mentioned the career highlight at each campus. Um we've pushed into freshman on track. So on SIP days, the freshman in the morning have

an extra 30 minutes. I believe that's first period. Um and so we've pushed in with that. And then another highlight um that we really are excited about is we're going to going to have four festive events second semester, two at each campus uh where we after after school and um invite our parents, our students to come on in. Um I was at one of them at Central and the new cafeteria at Central was almost full. Um and so we really have we have had our parents take advantage of the FASA nights um with some really good volunteers from the community from like JJC and etc. So uh those have been highlights and again I want to just highlight that for the second semester uh two at each campus. >> Okay thank you Jr. Um so

this part of the presentation I'm going to focus really on our school links which is as you know our postsecondary planning platform in the district. You can see here where um both students and parents are able to go to the district website to log in and have access. One of the benefits of the platform is that it has so much visibility um to multiple stakeholders. So this is a student's landing page, their homepage they're able to go to. Um one of the things that I really particularly like is that updates are very frequently happening here. they're able to quickly get information pushed out either by their counselors um by us as coordinators uh Andre as the director or even if there's something that admin believes from admin center we need to add. So this screenshot

happened to come on December 1st when we opened up scholarships. So it was wonderful. We can quickly direct students to school links. They can see those um instant announcements. It also gives students a to-do list which is helpful as we know as we're teaching our students with our AVID strategies how to work on scheduling and utilizing their planner. Same type of concepts are reinforced here um through the post-secondary platform. So, this specifically is our course planner. And the way that the course planner works is it communicates with Infinite Campus and it allows us to import the courses that we offer to students each year into the school links platform and then we're able to tailor it tail tailor it pardon me a little bit more to help students work as their post-secary goals specific to

them. So here on this site, you can see this allows students to pick the academy information they're interested in. That will then narrow down from the multitude of courses that we offer at each campus to those things that are an interest to them based off of that. Another piece you're able to look at which um we found from pushing into doing observations when counselors did these presentations into content classes this semester was that here at the top you see these nice little studentfriendly icons. They help students to identify which department they're going to pick courses from. It imports the coursework the students already have from each previous year. So in this demo student, this is going to be um a rising senior. It brings over not only their classes, but their grades from their transcript,

helping the students to know if they're on track very quickly or not, and then allows them to then choose from a drop-own menu of the courses they're able to pick from that department based off of their post-secary plan or what they already have available in their transcript. So, this is an example from science where you can see the cute little frog here in the red box. And as JR will tell you, I love color. So I keep putting color on everything. [laughter] So here we see I can as a student I choose to add a course that brings up for me the plethora of options that I have as a senior and science. This student has already completed their two required science classes for graduation. So these are all the elective opportunities they choose if

they desire so to pick one of these courses and then they're able to move forward. This I know is in very tiny print that many of us um no matter what age group we're at probably cannot read, but we wanted to give you just an overview to see like what will happen is a student will be able to see the entirety of their four-year plan. And so as we build this out, eventually what it will look like is not only would a senior see their four-year plan, but a freshman will be able to go in and plan out all of high school and then we'll import it individually and then as they need to make changes each year, they can go back in and re-evaluate whether they want to do something to update that. But

it really helps coincide with that postsecondary individualized plan that is also included in school leagues to help them see are they on track? Does it meet their post-secary goals for what their career and uh educational options are? So that gives you hopefully a nice good kind of very short succinct look at our school links platform. Um like JR said we have spent quite a lot of time on that as a team this year. Uh but we have found from our doing our classroom observations with our counselors and students [clears throat] that the students really have embraced it. uh they caught them pretty quickly, especially those that are adep adept with technology um and really felt like they could navigate the platform pretty easily. At this time, uh these are our plans for this semester. We're

going to continue our collaboration with content teachers, looking at those areas where we can push post-secondary planning implement implementation into specific content classrooms. Um we're going to continue expanding the use of post-secondary planning in our ninth and tth grade. So, we had the career week this year, the focus on ninth and tth grade in the fall. We had really great career fairs at both campuses. We want to thank our community partners for coming out to those. We had a great showing as I know some of you were those community partners who came in attendance and we appreciate that. Um, and we surveyed students. We had a lot of very positive feedback from our students who enjoyed the opportunity to come down and really take the time to go through and meet people in the community

and get a you know even more vast exposure to what there are uh as career options for them. We are going to import from um our course planner and back into Infinite Campus everything that we've done work-wise this first semester. So that now our counselors in January, as I'm sure you're familiar with, this is the time when they start meeting individually with students to make those final decisions. Uh and that will happen in the next couple of weeks. And then finally, we're going to fine-tune those personalized individual plans with students because we want to make sure that all the data that the students are putting into school links creates a clean plan for them to review with their coun counselor before graduation. So, it's been a busy semester. Um, but we feel like we're very

well on track of where we would like to be for 3.1 at this time. Are there questions that we are able to answer for the board? >> If there is, we'll send them to Andre. [laughter] I I just have a question. What what is the access for parents in school links or infinite campus? And is there like an approval like you know I can see some kids maybe not pushing themselves and wanting to make sure that there's a parent piece to be able to approve the course selection for next school year or what's the access point there for parents? So parents are able to go in as a viewer and see the decisions that their students have made. It doesn't require a parental approval piece um at this time. That's something that as a you

know district we can make a decision about at a later time. But what will happen is then that will go into the infinite campus and then parents will be able to see in the portal afterwards like where their student is at. If there's questions that they're concerned about, they're always able to reach back out to the students counselor about those decisions. >> There's we sent some communication out too. I know GG and I both sent uh communication to our counselors. I think the deadline was the 12th, December 12th. We asked uh students and families to have those decisions updated by the 12th. Of course, they could change those when they meet with their counselor in January. >> And then what Sorry, go ahead, chair. So then what'll happen this week is teachers go in and

make their recommendations. Those are done in Infinite Campus as well. So that that way they're locked and when we import the information in from school links, it doesn't override the teacher recommendations. And counselors are able to see both pieces sitting in there. So they have the the feedback coming from both directions. >> So So parents don't go into school links, they just see the outcome in Infinite Campus. >> No, they can see it in school links. Parents have accounts. They do have accounts. >> Well, how's that data looking? Do parents go into school links? >> So we actually met with our um school links advisor last week and the way that we rolled it out is we automatically enroll all of our parents in there. So, we have 99% of parents who have access to

school links. Because of that, we write we don't have a tracking mechanism yet that will be able to tell us if they've actually logged it because we do an autoenrollment. >> Okay. It's a it's a great program and I think it's underutilized by parents is what I'm trying to get at. So, >> and so one of the things we did, we had presentations at open house um for parents and we invited them to that. We've also created presentations that we've pushed out onto the platform um onto the district website to show parents like how to utilize it. And another piece when we have the FAFSA nights what we go it back to school links because we do connect that students then upload that they've completed FAFSA into school links as a part of their personalized

plan. Um another piece we'll be adding to that is that we want to make sure that we continue the ongoing parent education. So, we're in the process of updating our college and career part of the website to make it more student and parent friendly to continue to increase the traffic of parents getting those supports. >> Thank you for the work that you're doing. Um, we appreciate it. >> Thank you. >> That concludes our superintendent reports. >> Thank you. Um, on to action items. [clears throat] I would like to entertain a motion to approve action item A, approval of the 2025 tax levy. >> So moves. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Questions or discussions at this time? >> U. This is the opportunity for the public to make a comment on the 2025

tax levy. >> All right. Seeing none, can I please have a roll call? >> Mrs. Guo Numeare. >> Yes. Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stiff, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> May I please have a motion for action item B, resolution authorizing a supplemental tax levy to pay the principle of and interest on outstanding limited bonds of the district. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Questions or discussions? >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Lynn. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Guo Nome. >> Yes. >> Dr. Huntington. >> Yes. >> Mr. Coffee. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Stiff. >> Yes. >> May I please have a motion on action item C? Summer Food Service 2026. >> I'll make a motion. >> Second. >> Questions or discussions? >> Yes. This is a

yearly recommendation. Um, we're required to uh provide summer uh food service during the summer months. Um however over the years we have opted out of this process and that's due to the estimated loss um for operating programs and also um other sites in our area also have the summer food programs where students and families can have the opportunity to either have lunch or breakfast. just to recall prior to um COVID it's when you have the summer program it's similar to the school year where you have to have seat time um and so students do not participate in the summer food program here in our district but during COVID we had the opportunity to not have seat time and provide lunches as students ended summer school and we were reimbursed once COVID ended, the state went

back to the old rules of seat time and thus we started to see this loss again. Um, we continue to try to work with the state to see if they would allow us to either continue to pilot or get a waiver to do some things different. Um, you know, students don't mind taking a lunch as they leave, but they definitely are not going to stay an extra 30, 40 minutes, you know, to have lunch. Um so we are uh recommending to opt out um of the summer uh service summer summer school service food program. Also um an addition is the extended school year program through special education. We have partnered with the food bank and they do provide lunches every day to those students in that program. >> Thank you for that part. Roll call,

please. Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> Mrs. Gome, >> yes. >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stiff, >> yes. >> May I please have a motion on um action item D, Juliet West High School Phase 3 bid. >> So moved. I'll second it. >> Any questions or discussions? >> Uh yes, we'll have David New come up from Gil Bane. Um great news similar to last month. Um, these projects are associated with the West locker room renovation and the north gym re- roof at Joliet West. [clears throat] >> Thank you. Good evening. Um, on November 20th, we opened bids. We had 16 bid packages for Juliet West and the project does include the locker room renovations, the remainder of the D roof area that we started at this past summer. In

addition to that, we we're actually spread out a little bit throughout the building. We are converting some of the former PPS areas as they move into the new PPS. Those are going to be uh put back into classroom use and that includes couple areas in E building and second floor B building uh and some uh bathroom renovations. So, it's a little bit of mixed bag. The bulk of the work is in the D area. Um we've opened bids of the 16 bid packages. We are under budget again which is really good news and we are recommending award for the base bid and alternate one. Alternate one is really set up. We need to do some investigative work as part of the base bid and if we discover we don't have to do alternate one then

that money would come back to you. >> All right. >> Thank you. Any other further questions or discussions? All right. Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Lynn. Yes, >> Mrs. Guare. >> Yes, >> Dr. Huntington. >> Yes, >> Mr. Coffee. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Stiff. >> Yes. >> Thank you. >> May I please have a motion for action item E donations? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any questions or discussions? I would just like to thank Judy Easley for the JTHs MLK Day um donation towards meals with Purpose Media's Sebastian Aoyo uh for providing the DJ service for MLK Day and Chick-fil-A for their donation to our student advisory committee. Uh roll call, please. >> Mrs. Tiff, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> Mrs. Guon, >> yes. >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr.

Coffee, >> yes. May I please entertain a motion to approve action item F agreement between Juliet Township High School District 204 and the Juliet Township High Schools Council 204 Parrofessional Employees AFT Local 604 IF AFT for uh 2025 through 2028. >> I'll make the motion. >> Second. >> Any other questions or discussions? >> I just want to thank um Dr. Hampton for his leadership as well as our pair of professionals. Um, I think that there was a lot of great work done and looking forward to the implementation of the new contract. >> Any other roll call, please? >> Mr. Coffee? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Stiff? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Lynn? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Groare? >> Yes. >> Dr. Huntington? >> Yes. >> All right. Uh, moving on to item G. May I please have

a motion for G. Personnel reports 1 through 13. So moved. Second. >> Questions or discussions? >> Roll call, please. [clears throat] >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stip, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> Mrs. Gome, >> yes. All right, we're going to move um to item H, and that'll be Mr. Coffee for student discipline. After reviewing and deliberating the information contained in the hearing officer's report, the board of education is charged with deciding whether removing the child from his or her learning environment is in the best interest of the school, what the rationale is for the specific duration of the recommended expulsion, whether all appropriate and available behavioral and disciplinary interventions were exhausted, and whether the continued presence in school would either a pose a threat to

the safety of other students, staff, or members of the school community, or b subst substantially disrupt, impede, or interfere with the operation of the school. The board of education must then convene into public session to formally vote on the motion to expel if the expulsion is the consensus arrived at during executive session. I make a motion under case number W252610 recommending expulsion until January of 2027 and placement at Lincoln School. >> So moved. >> Second. Roll call, please. [snorts] >> Mrs. Guo Nome, >> yes. >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stiff, >> yes. >> Mrs. Lint, >> yes. >> I make a motion under case number W252611s, recommending expulsion until June of 2027 and placement in accordance with the students IEP. >> So moved. Second roll call, please. >>

Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> Mrs. Guare, >> yes. >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stiff, >> yes. >> I make a motion under case number C252612 recommending expulsion until June of 2027 and placement at Lincoln School. >> So moved. Second. Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Lynn, >> yes. >> Mrs. Guamare, >> yes. >> Dr. Huntington, >> yes. >> Mr. Coffee, >> yes. >> Mrs. Stiff, >> yes. >> And that is it. Um, may I please uh go on to unfinished business. Do we have any? >> No. >> All right. Seeing none, we're going to go on to new business and first read for policies A 1 through 33. B1 and C1. Do I have a motion to approve? >> We don't need to do a motion for that because

it's first read. >> Oh, yeah. >> Um I did um send the summary of the uh changes. Most of them are minor. Um and all of them are due to legislative updates. >> Awesome. Roll call, please. No, just kidding. All right, we're going to go on to board reports. [snorts] Anyone have a board report like to share? >> Sure. Um, good evening everyone. So, I participated in the um, uh, negotiation with our teachers union and we have reached the tentative agreement in hopes that it gets finalized before Christmas break. So, um, Thank Thank you all for that opportunity. I also attended the triple I conference um and presented with Mrs. Schlushman and uh Dr. Guzman along with Kayla Sorenson from the CED um talking about our internship program um and the partnerships and the collaboration

and the opportunities um that it has given our kids. Um, and then I attended Christmas, the CEO Christmas at the castle on Friday and it was they had a great turnout. The kids put together a wonderful event and oh my gosh, this the the little babies were playing uh musical chairs and I've never seen so many tears. [laughter] They were crying so much because, you know, they couldn't complete it. But anyway, um that's my board report. Have a board report. I I do want to also say congratulations to everyone that worked on um the new teachers union uh contract. I I got to participate a little bit and um to see um the administration, the teachers, um Dan Mercer and 604 just the camaraderie, the leadership in that just how well everyone got along and

just really worked hard together um to come together for that contract. Um so congratulations um to everyone on that. Uh I just want to remind everyone that the state of the district um we alternate every year. We'll be at Juliet West on January 29th. Um but the ribbon cutting um for PPS will be January 5th. And be sure Saloo uh be sure to sign up to volunteer for MLK Day. That's still open. You can still donate also. Just call Christine Schlisman. Thank you. >> All right. If not, uh then next uh announcements or public comment. Do we have any? >> Yes, >> we do. Um Mr. Michael Connell >> tell you I JJC board for 10 years and we never got a meeting on this. [laughter] >> I'm impressed. >> Well, I'm here to talk

to you something. I'll make it quick but dear to my heart and just to let you know I'm missing my pickle ball tonight and my pickle ball party. >> She understands that. Our secretary does. Thank you, Mr. Okonnell, for being here. By the way, this is Mr. Mike Okonnell. Well, any give you I don't things faces have changed in 20 years and uh I just want to give you a little family background before I go into this and my dad was the first basketball coach at Jolie East. I was retired from JT 33 years. I was the basketball coach there, finished fourth in the state. My brother Dale 30 plus years. I was a softball coach, won the state. My brother Pat was an assistant for Mac that won the state in 83 or 84.

Uh we go down the line. Uh all four of my kids went to Central. I got two grandkids at Central. I had five at West. Uh other family members, Natalie's sister daughter-in-laws at Central. Uh Kelly, Kevin. So you get the picture. Uh we've got a little background there. Uh and we care about JT. My p my my purpose tonight is and I'm concerned for the JT student athletes. Uh they're been at a big disadvantage to the teams that they have to play in this conference. And when JT left the Sika way back, I don't know 15 years ago. I remember me and my two brothers were saying this is the wrong move for joint Central. They don't belong in this conference. and competitive wise and there's some big travel also in this conference. Uh this

past fall just to give you some statistics football team went one and one in non-conference and conference went not only to go 0 and7 they're outsc scored 28 to 408 and that was with a running clock in many of those games. It probably could have been 500 points. Volleyball 0 and seven in the conference but they won nine games outside the conference. Most of those teams are out east, Denley Park, Oak Forest, you know, that area out there. Um, you don't realize it, but you've lost a lot of great coaches over the years. You really have. You can only get beat up so many times and and there's some good coaches and less. Uh, currently the playing field isn't fair. Most of these other schools, kids play 12, travel, club, they get professional 11 lessons,

they have year- round play. Uh, and JT, just to give you an example, JT freshman volleyball, my nephew's the coach, so I know this, had 40 girls try out for freshman. I mean, the the want to be there is there. Three of them played club. My daughter's the head coach at Manuka. They had 47 girls try out. 42 of them played club. So, you think about that. I mean, the disadvantage that they're at. Um, and a lot of Juliet Central athletes, uh, or their family backgrounds have to work in the offseason. They don't, they can't be going and playing playing, I guess, what you want to call it. It It's rough. What am I suggesting? And I don't know if there's a cure to this, to be honest with you. But I'm not I I

just couldn't hold back any longer. Uh, and I'm not sure what the administration and coaches, you know, I've talked to a few here and there, but uh, you know, I don't even know if they're interested, but if if interested, I think it would be just so nice if you formed a committee, at least looked into it. And I realize a lot of particulars here. You know, some of these schools don't have debate teams. Uh, some of them don't, you know, all the extracurricular activities. The the co-op uh co-op uh option just got hotter today. The I say pass something that if you do have co-op which you could still do. It just means you you can't participate as a team in the state tournament. So like girls golf right now most of the girls are

from west but there's a few from central. So if they stay together they still can be in the conference. They still play but when it comes to state they play as individuals and most of those sports you're not going to advance in the state anyways. You know not that's just something out there. But I strongly recommend you don't go back to one sports team. And I did a big survey on that one year. I did I looked at every banquet, every sport one year. And any sport that was held at Central, the Central number of kids played was a lot. But when it was at West, hardly any of the Central kids were involved. And just an example, my son Rory, first two years it was Juliet Central, freshman football, they went nine and0. Second

year they went nine and0. They combined and went to uh the two schools and they're good teams. This senior year there were only four kids left from Dillian Central playing four kids from two team from teams two teams that went 18 and0 and it's just it's it's just not healthy. Um uh this isn't about wins and losses or building a dynasty. Trust me, I don't think you're ever going to get a dynasty. But it is about leveling out the playing field. And if at all we could get this something, you know, committee, I I'd appreciate it or I think a lot of people would appreciate good for the kids because two of my sons played football at Central and and the coaches worked hard, they worked hard, 30 they had kids out, but it was

just devastating. Thank you. >> Thank you so much, Mr. Okano. We appreciate you and your family's legacy here at JTHs. >> And one more announcement. >> Yes. I just want to um say thank you um to our electronics teacher. Um she's actually new staff member Nicole um Gubbins I at um Juliet Central. She worked on Andy the Ambulance with her um with the students at Juliet Central. Um, and you may have remember me talking about John Barber at West working on Freddy the firet truck. And so we had a demonstration. It's a really great partnership. Um, there's been there'll be some coverage probably in the media. Um, but it was really great going over there. So I want to thank our teachers, but also the partnership with the fire department that's ongoing. Um, it's really

been a great partnership and this is just a unique opportunity. Um and those two I don't know what you call it robots will >> Andy and Freddy okay >> they'll be used in um curriculum when they're used doing new curriculum with younger children. So I just want to thank our staff members. >> Thank you. All right. Anything else? No. No. All right. May I please have a motion to close this meeting? Second. Boom. Pow.
