I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Ms. Nerdy, would you do a roll call, please? Here. Yes. Yes, here. Um seeing no visitor statements here this evening, we'll move on to discussion on the FOIA requests. Are there any questions or comments on those? I did not receive any questions. There were two FOIA requests in the board that has in their packet the responses. Okay. Thank you. Any additional discussion items anyone wants to bring up for later on today? Looking. We're going to move forward to the consent agenda, the approval of minutes. Someone Someone had a question about the minutes, right? Yes, and we had Mary Ann update them. I think the
confusion of the minutes was Thank you. No problem. I think the confusion of the minutes was we did not uh set up or establish a second or an additional advisory council for the student advisors. Uh Ms. Gaska and Mr. Van Horn said they would help with the selection process. So, I had Mary Ann add selection process or interview process to the minutes. Perfect. Consent agenda motion. Okay, the Board of Education Township High School District 208, Cook County, Illinois takes the following action on the listed consent agenda items. Approves minutes from the meetings held on March 8th and 22nd, 2022 open and closed. I just say annual renewal membership 2022-2023 as presented and amended in the April 12th, 2022 board agenda packet. Second. This is an all in favor. I. I. Moving on to old business.
Anything for life safety? No updates on life safety. The policy 2:4.0, I believe, reflected the changes that were discussed at the last meeting. There was also a a question. Yes, and so what I did is I put instead of putting upperclassman, uh I think we clarify it by saying the board may select one to two students to serve in an advisory capacity during their senior year. Then the student advisors will not have any voting privileges. They may not attend the closed session portion of board meetings. So, the remainder is as we discussed. Yeah. Perfect. Any additional comments on that? Anyone? Do we need to get a motion to adopt that, please? Yes. Um the Board of Education Township High School District 208, Cook County, Illinois approves the revised policy 2:4.0 board member qualifications as presented
in the April 12th, 2022 board agenda packet. Um that is an all in favor. Mhm. All in favor. I. I. Any objections? Moving forward to the district goals. Dr. Skinkus? What you have here tonight is goal number three now. Going goal number three, continue ongoing training and engagement in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Uh the diversity equity leadership team or DELT will be developed and facilitated by Dr. Dubiel uh to create the equity action plan. It probably should say for the district. So, there is a little bit of wordsmithing. The one comment I did receive um I think it was from Ms. Rusca is we there's no need to put in the number of stakeholders. That's up to the board. Uh if you would like to clean that up, I'm okay with removing that, and I
probably should add uh create the equity action plan for the district. Um the other question that was submitted were parents and students be able to participate. And uh Dr. Freitas will continue to run his race and equity committee. Is that correct, Dr. Freitas? Yes. And that's where students and parents will participate. Dr. Dubiel is when she leads facilitates this over next year, the idea of this is they have teachers, administrators, um basically all the employees and how we can work to review and improve the operation of the actual school, the classrooms, the curriculums, uh all the services we provide to be more inclusive and equitable. So, that's what the progress for next That would be the project for next year under this goal. Dr. Freitas, am I missing anything? No. You you You got everything
spot on. Do we think there's going to be a cost associated with Dr. Dubiel? That's about $10,000. Do we think we adequately covered her question? Mhm. I think we adequately covered Dr. or uh Ms. Rusca's, yes. Does the board think I should take out What's the pleasure of the board? Do we really need the number of stakeholders? Should I remove that? Well, you kind of pigeonhole yourself if you don't get that many, right? Or if you get too many. So, maybe. Okay. I am agnostic on the number. I am also. It does not change the goal. I really don't think it's just more of a minor, right, behind the scenes thing. Okay. If anything, that's a big group. I don't know. That's a lot. Well, what's going to happen with this now uh is that
part of this is when you start with the 25 or 20 to 25, you go through four professional development trainings, correct, Dr. Freitas? trainings. I'm trying to remember our conference call with Dr. Dubiel. And then after that, you have to break into into into um five five strand teams, five teams of five, and then we'll cover the topics of systems, teaching and learning, student voice, professional development, and community as agency. So, the big group would be broken down Yes. So, you need to jigsaw the work. Okay. You need to jigsaw the work. Okay. So, I could take the 20 to 25 out, but that's Let's let's try for that, then. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah, okay. So, you want me to leave it in? Or I don't know what I'm hearing from you. I I think you
I think you leave it in at this point. And and if there's difficulty reaching that, you would come back and say it looks like we're going to have a 10-person DELT or a 50-person DELT, whatever the Okay. Yeah. Brian? I think it's going to take I I was seeing the 20 to 25 into to engage in the work, it's going to require a lot of people providing uh some um cheerleading push uh to do it to do it right. Um having come from a district where as I come from a district that is um puts a whole bunch of weight into this, we spend a lot of money um on that, and it's it's a very difficult task to get enough buy-in to create a um critical mass. So, I would love to see more
than 20 to 25 from the start because you're going to end up with a need. So, I might take the number out just so we're not But heavily recruit. Absolutely. Well, right. We've I think we're already close to um I mean, we I've already I've told all the administrators you're involved. So, that's eight or uh nine of us. And then we have counselors, social workers. So, I think we'll have no problem getting to 20. But no other changes? Everybody's okay with that? Mhm. Okay. So, I'm going to make I'll put it for the district and I'm going to take the number out, put in for the district at the end, and I will put the red print on the bottom. So, then we have All we have left is goal number one. Hopefully by the
April call here, then I will get you uh a rough draft for that SMART goal for next school year. And then we'll be at a point for that in May and I could start sharing this out with stakeholders. Okay, approve in June and then we'll do in July. Is everybody okay with that? Okay. Anyone else? Sounds good. Okay. Thank you. New business? Business? Payment of bills? There were some questions submitted, Dr. Smetana. Uh first question is on board book page 52. It's for the CDW group check. Uh this is for Microsoft 365. It's a subscription license. Um it's for the entire year for the entire school. Um the vendor worded it poorly, but we did uh verify that it's for the entire school year. Um board book page 59, 4. Uh this is for a
motorized projector screen that will attract in the ceiling and be mounted in this room so the room can be utilized efficiently. This is the room that we use pretty much almost every period. Uh it's our only It's our It's our primary meeting space. Um so, we need to be flexible and and move. It'll be mounted in the back. Uh I can see I can see where you're looking. We're going to be mounting it in the back on the back wall, not on the angle. Um but that's why we also previously purchased the chairs uh and the table so that we can be flexible with the setup of this room. What page was that on? Um 59. Thank you. Um board book page 71, Leaf. Uh that's our copier lease. Um this was a part of
the FOIA uh because there is no written agreement with Leaf. The written agreement for the lease is with Proven IT. Um and so this is the monthly invoice for leasing the 13 copiers. Um board book page 79, Raymond James uh dissemination services fee. Um this is uh a requirement. The districts were required to enter into a continuing disclosure undertaking for all of our bonds. Um this is done annually. Um and so the process requires every year that uh certain data and tables are updated, um and there's a report and then that report along with our annual financial report gets uploaded to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board via their website. And Raymond James takes care of that for us. Board book page 92 TSA Consulting Group Compliance Services. This is a monthly charge for plan administration
for all of our 403 B's and 457 B's via Omni and TSA CG. They merged together. That's monthly. Oh, that is monthly. Yes. It's $113. Board book page 105 Proven IT. This is for the actual copies that we make each month. There is a set amount like a base rate charge and that amount covers April 14th through May 13th. And then we are paying an additional $491.68 from March for going over what our typical allotment is. And based on the copiers that we received that overage for, I believe it's for printing the spring musical programs in March. So between Proven IT and Leaf we've met our FOIA applications. Yes. Yes. Yeah. Both we submitted both contracts but they both have Proven IT as the as the contract. And then the last question was board book
page 106. It reads D E I S 95 commodity credit. That should read District 95 commodity credit. But since asked what this is, it's a We have satellite schools and Quest bills us. We pay Quest and then we recover the money back from the districts that are satellite schools. Two of our satellite schools receive a credit from Illinois State Board of Education Food Distribution Program because they are participating in the National School Lunch Program. So that's what that commodity credit is for. So as long as we spell it right we can get Yes. The appropriate credit to them. Yes. Should we run a report or something and Yes, correct. See if their credit not show up. And that were that was all of the questions that were submitted. Thank you, Kristen. Any additional questions or
comments on that? Ready? Yes. The Board of Education Township High School District 208 Cook County, Illinois approves the payment of bills as presented in the April 12th, 2022 Board Agenda Packet. Second. Mr. Dardi call for roll call, please. Yes. Seeing no uh visitor statements, we didn't have any discussion items, any consideration of items for future meetings. Oh, I'm sorry. Elena, I apologize. So Clara isn't here today but she did want me to read a statement for the board since she isn't here to say it herself. So um her statement reads board members, President Zales and Dr. Skinkus, I apologize for not being with you this evening but I have a few things to report on nonetheless. First, I would like to voice my support on the approval of policy 2 40 regarding the student advisor
position. It has been an honor to serve as a light liaison between the student body and this honorable board this year and I believe that going forward this role is crucial in keeping the board informed on the student perspective. I look forward I look forward to seeing the next generations of advocates and speakers who will sit and serve this board. Moving on, I was excited to read the administrative draft on district goal number three and look forward to how we as a school can learn to better serve all students. This incredibly visible step towards a more inclusive and equitable environment is just the beginning but it shows RB's concentrated effort to make improvements for all. Something we can all agree is important. Finally, spring sports are quickly headed to the end of their seasons with
many senior nights quickly approaching. So be sure to check the website for times and locations to attend a game or match if you have a free evening. Thank you for your time and go socks. I'm sorry, what was that last part? Thank you for reading that. Did you have anything else you wanted to add at this point? No, I have nothing to add. She summed it up pretty well. We are south of the center. Note for the record. Noted. South of what, Madison? The center. Consideration of items for future meetings. I don't think we have anything there. Matters for closed session including personnel, student discipline, individual student matters, purchase, sale, lease of property, probable, imminent or pending litigation, collective negotiations, school safety and superintendent evaluation and contract. Second. I don't need to hear you need
a motion. You need a motion. The Board of Education Township High School District 208 Cook County, Illinois enters closed session for the purpose of considering appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, student discipline, purchase, sale or lease of real property, probable, imminent or pending litigation, collective negotiations, school safety, the superintendent's evaluation and contract and other items listed on the agenda. Can we have a second, please? Second. Thank you, Ms. Gasca. And we do need a roll call. Yes.
