um but um just downloaded this one so there the rationale in this um just mentions that um the machine will support curricular Vision the curricular Vision to provide Equitable programming at all schools do we have this machine at other schools yeah so each of our Automotive programs does have an alignment machine right now we're systematically replacing them to bring them up to the most recent industry standards okay so Streamwood um received their machine last year we were working with South Elgin they weren't quite ready for it but due to some space limitations um but Elgin was ready to move forward okay so in partnership with this we typically use a mini Grant process where work with the staff to to see which specifications which are some providers that currently would meet those specifications then go
through the bid process once we verify things with plan Ops make sure we have power compressed air things like that the concrete can support it okay thank you any other questions good thank you okay work session contracts over 25 000. thank you madam president Board of Education members our first item is a contract for the office of schools amendment to service agreements with right at school and Boys and Girls Club of Elgin Ms mystorovich assistant superintendent in schools will present the attached proposal we'll respond to questions from the Board of Education Administration recommends approval of the contract with Boys and Girls Club of Elgin in the amount not to exceed 270 thousand dollars and right at school in the amount not to ex not to exceed 313 200 and requests authorization for District administration to

million 520 482.70 and requests authorization for District administration to execute related documents this expenditure will be charged to the educational fund cost is included in the budget for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 fiscal years are there any questions I have one um we're adding I realize we used canvas already but we're adding another component which is I guess a great online grade book and we're going to Pilot it will it be a voluntary pilot of teachers are interested and if they use this they won't have to use infinite campus So currently infinite campuses our student information system so there will always be a component campus that we have to use but the idea will be that we'll be able to download the information from masteryconnect and upload it into Infinite Campus so we'll work with the
is team to see if we can do that for the teachers because the grades that are in Infinite Campus have to be reported to the state but only every semester so we don't have to have the ongoing thing in Infinite Campus does that make sense yeah no I I just do a batch job every once in a while that's our plan okay so I'm sorry I'm going to make sure that I'm following what you're saying then so like if parents want to pop on and check what their kids grades are the teacher is piloting this canvas program they'll need to look in canvas rather than Infinite Campus correct you know on a random Tuesday or whatever correct so we have uh we'll have to have a full built out communication plan of like ensuring that
whoever participates in the pilot gets all the information and the and the parents of those students get any information so those parents might have actually have to check two places no they wouldn't well you wouldn't have to check you would only have to check Mastery or canvas for the Mastery connect Gradebook because it's connected right so saved out of high school where their math teacher decides so then for math you'd have to check into that that canvas but then science and social studies and chorus would all still be an infinite campus Because those teachers aren't particularly in the high school okay okay and we're looking at making a district-wide the following year I assume we'll have a lot of professionals so we're going to get a lot of feedback that we're planning I don't want
to rush into anything no but that's why we weren't sure for sure if it would take just one year because it's also so Mastery connects not just something we can flip on we actually have to build all of our curriculum into it okay because all of our standards will be in it all of our curriculum so you could any administrator could in theory walk into a classroom and say this is where you should be in the Mastery connect world and so there's going to be a lot of components that then we get feedback on to say like what's the best way for everybody in order to ensure that it is something that we want to move forward okay I know I've I've heard complaints from teachers that they have to do a lot of keyboarding
to get grades and things in I hope this would make it a lot easier we are hoping so too okay okay so theoretically then too it's user friendly for more user friendly for the teachers and the parents it will be okay so then and then this year is feedback for like is it really great is it sort of great correct so we we okay that's exactly the information we want to get for teachers so we are trying to make things much easier and more integrated and have different reporting abilities yeah and so we want to their help in building the system to a way that is easier for teachers and parents and students and administrators and the school district to be able to see at a glance they have wonderful reports that you can use
to have conversations about like what worked well and what do we still need to work on that we can pull at all the different levels at a classroom level at a so you'll get feedback from parents and students as well absolutely done so and I I might be getting this wrong but I feel like there are already some grades that go in canvas and there were issues at least I want to say at the high school level with how those were reporting to Infinite Campus because there's rounding issue I didn't download canvas because my kids said don't look at the grades there they don't they weren't going incorrectly and then the way it's a post around with the one through four so does the Mastery connect is it supposed to help fix that or it
would just be getting rid of Infinite Campus and we would just be using canvas for grade so the hope would be eventually if everything goes as planned that in a year or two we would not get rid of Infinite Campus because it's our student information system but we would close the grade book in Infinite Campus and only have grades in masterconnect okay so then so this will help fix whatever issues are currently in canvas with how grades go in and the weird things I don't know my kids told me don't look there it's it's crazy and I've gotten it from teachers too that there's issues with how canvas has been handling whatever has to happen right integration standards the integration between canvas and Infinite Campus doesn't work as well as we at hopeful could and
so essentially it doesn't organize the grades into the correct spot when it syncs automatically but we're not talking about doing that with Mastery connect we're actually talking about doing like a download of a file and then uploading it into Infinite Campus and so we shouldn't run into that problem okay okay thank you that makes sense thank you our next item is a contract renewal for secondary education advancement via individual determination Dr Lance assistant superintendent of equity and Innovation and Mr Tamborino district AVID support will present the attached proposal and we'll respond to questions from the Board of Education Administration recommends approval of the contract renewal with Avid Center in the amount of 60 267 and requests authorization for District administration to execute related documents the sixth vendor will be charged the educational fund the cost
is included in the budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year are there any questions okay I'll ask the question um how how do we track how successful kids have gone through Avid are so if you have like a ninth grader who's taking Avid do we notice that if he's been struggling in eighth grade that we see an improvement in ninth grade for example right so all of our data is uploaded into the Avid data dashboard and it allows us to track that specifically Michelle Chapman over there in the corner and Al tambarino they both meet with the site coordinators monthly and a part of that work is to have data conversations about the progress or lack that lack thereof of our students so that's one way okay okay and that we are seeing it is making
an impact on a number of students yes absolutely we wholeheartedly believe in Abbott it is a game changer and so we're really working diligently to make sure that Avid is just not provided for students who are actually sitting in an avid elective but that Avid those wicker strategies writing inquiry collaboration organization and reading that all of those strategies are embedded school-wide and that is the work that we're really trying to impress upon our school leaders and our staff members okay thank you and I like average too I've been to some classrooms I actually went to some I have a training years ago and it was really quite impressive yeah well we have an entire team of folks going to Avid summer Institute uh some will be going to Dallas some will be going to San
Antonio and others will be going virtually so we should be ready to roll really roll thank you thank you any other questions hey I think you're up to change orders thank you madam president our first change order tonight plan operations Bartlett High School auditorium lights replacement project 209 Miss Waldo director of plan operations will present the attached change order and we'll respond to questions from the Board of Education Administration recommends the Board of Education approved the change order from Associated Electrical Contractors Incorporated in the amount of minus sixty thousand dollars any questions in the final items final item is a change order from plant operations Educational Service Center interior renovation phase one project 331. um again Ms Waldo presenting the attach change order and we'll respond to questions Administration recommends the Board of Education approve
the change order from can do Construction Incorporated in the amount of minus 12 787.66 any questions [Music] okay and that is the last item on the agenda so I will entertain a motion to adjourn so moved second we'll call please Miss Martin yes Miss Nolan yes Ms Owen yes Miss Porter yes Miss Thomas yes president
