This week here at Sunnybrook is going to be a little bit of a hectic week because we have a half a day for on um the student teacher parent teacher conferences are Thursday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And then we also have teacher institute day as well. So we are going to have three days of half day attendance this week just to keep everybody breast of that. More importantly next week

004while all things are important to us and everybody but next week the week of February the 2nd the five essential survey comes out. You've heard us talk about that as it relates to um our IR and our state report card. It is very important to us. If our families, please, please take time out to fill out the five essential survey. If you have a student who attends Nathan Hill and Heritage Middle School, we ask that you take it for both students. If you have children in both schools, you cannot take it just for one school and think it's going to count. We are asking and the state is asking that you take it for both schools. You will receive numerous reminders. Um I'm sorry if you feel like we're going to bombard you, but it's

So, like Dr. Like I said, we do have parent teacher conferences scheduled um this week. Our for heritage, our Thursday conferences are in person um from 4:00 to 7:00 and then our Friday conferences are virtual from 12 to 12:30 to 3. Um and this time around we do invit invitations. We look at uh students who may be struggling u academically or um having some challenges in the classroom with behavior. And so those are the parents who are invited. Of course, if

007there are parents who would like to attend, all you have to do is reach out to the um team leads and then we make accommodations for them. Um we are doing an all heritage fundraiser to to support our extracurricular and our clubs and our house activities from January 29th through February 2nd. We will be engaging in double fundraiser. Um we will make a post on parent square so that the parents are aware of this and also can participate. And the cool thing about this is that the kids will be able to um choose which uh extracurricular or activity, whatever activity that they want their proceeds to go to, the kids will be able to choose that. >> Uh January 29th, which is this upcoming week, uh Thursday to February 2nd. You know, double only does

008a 4 day four day run. So, it's quick, fast, and which we appreciate without inventory. >> Um, win is extended. We actually um extended our current win for our fifth through 8th grade students and expanded it and included our EL students. And so, we'll be going we'll be doing win after school for our students until May. Volleyball season has begun. The girls are >> the girls are I'm just saying they're doing a super fantastic job. So, yeah. Yeah, I'm super I'm excited to watch them play. You said you too. Yeah. Um the boys basketball team, we are in our regionals stage on Tuesday. We'll have our semi-finals um against Beacher at 4:30 and then when we when we win that game, because we will win that game, we play again on Thursday. Um, and then

Everything else. >> Everything else is on my back. after after we leave. >> Okay. >> Yeah, we got to manifest some things. Uh house day, the upcoming house day is Friday. Not Friday, sorry, is February 11th. I believe that's a Wednesday. It's actually a half day. And if anybody's at home, y'all want to come hang out with us. We're doing a

010talent show. We started the talent show series last year. And so, we wanted to keep that a tradition. And so, this year, we're doing the house day on a half day, but those last two periods, we'll be doing a talent show. We'll be we'll stream it live so people can see. So, um, if you guys you got an opportunity to come out, you can come. Um, Black Heritage Night is upcoming as well on February 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 right here. Heritage will be in the gym, I do believe. Um, and one cool thing is that we are taking our eighth grade some eighth grade students HBC HBCU tour. I think it's important that we talk about career and college readiness. And so by taking these kids on this um DHC youth tour, our our

011intention is just to expand and provide knowledge, just give them some exposure. The travel dates are from April 6th through April 8th. Um we are going to Jackson uh Mississippi, the universities that are participating, Jackson State University, Tuloo College, and Alorn State University. We'll also um visit the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum as well. Um, some important information about the eighth grade graduation and promotion stuff has gone out to parents. I want parents to be aware of that. U, we're looking at the capp and gown. Our next thing for eighth grade is a capping gown, which is February 18th. Students will be in uniform. Students will be in uniform on February 18th for the cap and gown. Um, and I want you guys to see um some of the things that we're doing. I know I

012started off um the beginning of this school year showing you all our announcements, how we do our announcements. It gets better cuz we've expanded. Let me show you something. 3 2 1 AND WE ARE THE BEST. THE BEST house we represent. I found my home. I found my home. Hallelujah. I found my home. I found my home in Valent. >> Don't mess around. >> Weent. >> We >> So loud and proud. Our house is strong. >> Our house is strong. >> We represent >> Weent >> the whole day. Don't see through our veins. Weresent we and we don't play and we don't play so much. We represent Weent stand side by side. Stand side by side. We >> am Moore. I'm in eighth grade and I'm here to talk about one of the special books

013that I think you'll love. It's called The False Prince written by Jennifer A. Nelson. This book is set in a far off kingdom countryside. The main character's name is Sage. There's a big problem in this story. The royal family is dead and the kingdom is on the brink of war. So, a new king must be crowned. I really like this book because of all the mystery that it creates and it builds a lot of suspect. I think you'll really like this if you like fantasy. By the way, this is fiction. Or if you like mystery. If you like both of those, this is the book for you. Bye. Watch. This is our growth mindset. Real growth is when you start checking and correcting yourself. Instead of blaming others, you take your power back by being

014responsible for your life. And then my best Miss Cameron version it have a great day. have a super fantastic day. Thank you. >> Mr. K, Mr. K. >> But what Mr. Kent on behalf of Mr. Kent, >> what Mr. Kent and his staff has decided to do and Mr. Cameron and I have decided to join them, they're doing a sewing club for the staff. So we have a teacher over there who is teaching us how to put our own buttons on our own shirts, those small little things. So it's really fun. So we're working on community engagement with just our teaching staff just doing some body sense of um connection with us. So we start with that. So we'll keep going. All right, we are at item K.
