I know I don't have a superintendent report, but just to kind of tee this up, first of all, there are a lot of 46, I believe Tom told me, votes the board will be taking tonight. I appreciate the board coming in on a special meeting to do this because on August 8th, we'll have a lot of other business to take care of. So by doing this tonight, it allows us to focus on August 8th. And the reason
005it's coming on August 1st is that typically when school districts are in contract negotiations with their teachers, administrator contracts come after the teacher's contract is settled. We haven't settled the teacher's contract yet. So this, these votes are to approve employment, not the compensation. The compensation will come as a separate item for the board once we've settled the contract. A couple of things I'd like to point out to the board. One is for district administrators, I think this is the last round of contracts in which titles are all over the place. District administrators who focus more on operations on the operational side of the house, so to speak, like, you know, Brian and Tom who are sitting here, they are Brian's chief operations officer, Tom's chief human resources officer. So that makes sense because in the
006world, that's how that usually is sorted out. For district administrators whose focus is more on instruction in an effort to make all those titles the same. If you envision an organizational chart, which we'll bring to the board at one point, you will see that the, if you're a district administrator whose focus is more on instruction, you're assistant superintendent of something. So as we're going through this, there are title changes. It doesn't mean that people's job responsibilities are changing, has nothing to do with compensation. It's simply trying to get at the consistency of district administrator titles. I would also add, though, that in achieving that consistency, I think it's a good statement that, you know, equity in district 113 is at the same level of any other function on the instructional side of the operation. So
007that's second. And the third thing is there is a, there's going to be a change starting in the 24, 25 school year recommending to the board that we reduce the position of assistant superintendent for curriculum instruction. This is nothing to do with performance. It is a recognition of the fact that not only in our society do large institutions or centralized institutions don't have the same clout. It really is acknowledging the district 113, we have two schools that for years have done very well at managing their own instructional programs. And so what is going to happen is there's going to be a distribution of leadership and responsibility back to the schools for matters of instruction. And so that is a change. That contract is not on this list because for the 24, 25 school year, that
008is not a position district 113 will have starting in the 20, 24, 25 school year. This school year, there's a lot of work that needs to be done. As you know, there was a presentation in July on the PACE framework and there are other capacity building there's other capacity building work should say that needs to be done. So this is a big year to put the schools in the position that then they are now driving their own, implementing their own instructional programs and taking responsibility for the outcomes of academic outcomes and improvements in their respective schools. So just wanted to, I apologize for taking time when you've got 46 votes in front of you, but I did think it was important to thank the board for coming tonight and also point those things out. Thank
