001give me a minute I have a couple of windows open so I want to make sure I'm at the right window I'm gonna Carole through you mind making a motion - sure certainly - okay I this is Carolyn I move we amend and approve the agenda for the June 8 2020 board meeting including the updated personnel report this is GRL second all those in favor aye aye okay can the folks that are speaking that are in the room can you speak up just a tad bit today yeah yes sounds better this is Shannon it would also be helpful for the board members who are virtual - if those that are in the room we do identify yourselves when you speak because the only person that we can see virtually is dr. Lewis the report of
002the president I think most of what I would report is going to happen today anyway but I met individually and collectively with dr. Lewis and Kelly Jones vice president with Pao CWA and we had some conversations about next steps for them ask some questions got some questions answered and as we we move forward to some next steps I know you're hear from some of their board member board organizers and the chairs a little bit later and well I'm gonna let dr. Lewis kind of elaborate on some next steps that we've done thus far and what we'll do moving forward last week our letter went out dr. Lewis and they let out due to like recent events and I just wanted to publicly not just on social media but publicly express my support for that letter
003I thought it was well written and it considered I'm considered a and an underlined with our equity work that we're already doing and if anyone has any questions for me please feel free to contact me via email you have my information and I think that is about it for me as far as reports go so I will move on to patron Coase Ari I'm looking at it reporter of Superintendent of Schools dr. Lewis thank you what President Johnson good evening everyone I also want to think think our pair of secateurs and other advocates who plan to comment tonight I really appreciate the tremendous amount of work that I've been a support that I've been seeing for our player professionals and I appreciate the support that has provided to our teachers our students our school families
004by our pair per Perry educators they are huge and important part of team LPS and when I first arrived here I would I would meet pair educators and speak to groups of their educators and and they would share their concerns with me one in particular which really stood out was this whole idea of technology and just having the simple tool to simply check your email the district work to ensure that all pairs did have access to devices our HR department and the entire staff mainly samory and Dave have been working closely with pal to began addressing other concerns that that we were hearing and that were valid including improving paraprofessional development and ensuring our schools are providing the professional respect that pair educators so rightfully deserve a handful of our educators are involved in hrs
005grow-your-own program and it's an initiative that many of our para educators are completing their education and certification to become teachers and this is a success story that we want to continue to expand as well in one of the themes in our strategic plan is indeed effective employees and year one objectives calls for us to create positive and supportive working environments for all of our employees and to attract high quality candidates for all employee groups and some of the action steps that we have been focused on this year include support and success in well being of every employee develop and support professional learning communities support the training and success of all classified groups update the classified evaluation tool to reflect duties of positions update for certified staff the Charlotte Danielson evaluation materials and professional learning revise
006and implement fall and spring climate surveys and staff stay and exit interviews if you recall those stay interviews we're something new that HR implemented at a climate and culture focus to each administrative monthly professional developments or every month we meet with our administrators we add a cultural culture and climate focus implement a site based monthly recognition program for all employee groups I think there was more or less sporadic throughout the district where some schools had recognition programs we weren't too sure that all school had all schools have some type of site based monthly recognition program and then finally provide an overview of health and wellness resources to all staff members the district wants to make sure that all employees feel valued and appreciated and that includes all of our classified staff families our para educators
007foodservice custodial in maintenance technology clerical secretarial employees in addition to our administrators teachers and other certified staff the district's meeting confer process which we do recognize could also be improved include representation from all various classified staff families in the district through meeting confer classified staff provide input about salary and benefit decisions I echo for President Johnson and I appreciate the board strong commitment to providing full compensation and benefits to pair educators from mid-march to the end of the school year doing the time our buildings were closed due to the pandemic you prior to my arrival last year the district used data to collect data collected during a classified market study to implement a new classified salary schedule the board in 2017 allocated nearly 1.3 million dollars to bring classified positions within 1 to 3 percent
008of the market at that time I do believe it is time to update that market study Lawrence public schools is a people organization our most valuable assets are our teachers our district is committed to fair and equal treatment of all staff while no vote on the paraeducator instructional staff union is scheduled tonight I have been visiting with board officers about scheduling a work session in the near future so we can discuss this very important topic the district is committed to continuing to listen to the needs and concerns of parity caters as we strive to support the success of all of our classified and certified employees do you have several other things that I want to address tonight as Melissa indicated after the death of George Floyd at the hands of law enforcement I did share
009a message to all school staff and families and I would just like to read a part of that statement tonight the most recent events during the tragic death of George Floyd and the increasing number of deaths of black men at the hands of law enforcement continue to shed light on the consequences of social injustice and systemic racism that permeate the societal fabric of our nation as a black man the father of two black boys and also the super tended of 405 other black boys this is personal walking alongside some of our scholars during the recent downtown Lawrence protests March and seeing the hurt the concern the uncertainty on their faces is really saddened me they deserve better I reminded that we still have much work to do in creating more inclusive environments for our scholars
010our families staff community our nation and our world as a school system we must ensure that we are doing our part to continue to foster empathy and kindness our schools must be diverse spaces where our scholars can learn acceptance and belonging our districts racial equity journey many of you know began nearly 15 years ago with the book study of courageous conversations about race and we do expect all of our staff to participate in the training beyond diversity while Lawrence Public Schools has made a tremendous amount of progress we know that there is much more work to be done to bring about change and to disrupt systemic racism and systems of oppression it is up to each of us to commit to act individually and dedicate ourselves to work together collectively to continue these conversations in
011our classrooms and our homes and in our community I've often said this Lawrence can lead the way we can lead the way if each of us commits to examine personal bias speak out against social injustice and stand up and learn from others who do not look like us we must continue to eliminate behaviors policies practices and procedures that perpetuate systemic racism yes black lives matter our black scholars families and staff matter we see you we hear you and we support you we will continue to champion all students as one team and you can read the full statement and find out more information about our district districts equity work on our website at USD 497 org forts 4 slash equity and when I sent that email out to school families and staff I received over over
012a hundred replies people that saw it fit to take time to reply to my email over 102 that email in less than five of them over 100 were positive in less than five of them were were not so positive and that just lets us know let me lets me know that we still have some some educating to do while the district has long committed to its racial equity work closing opportunity gaps in supporting the success of all students we need to constantly reaffirm that commitment and continue to educate ourselves and others as a matter of fact our executive leadership team on Thursday discuss providing the introduction to courageous conversations and beyond diversity training to all of our new teachers and staff in the fall we also discussed our restorative justice plans including professional coaching for
013our student support coordinators this past weekend you may have seen our new I began to see a circulation of a number of social media posts about racial incidents that happened at our school six or seven years ago obviously I was not a part of the district or the community then so I cannot speak to what did or did not happen but what I can speak to what I can't speak on is how I'm here now and I'm focused on what we are doing right now to ensure that all students feel safe they feel welcome they feel respected in school in all of our learning environments that are in ensuring that they are free from harassment and discrimination this is what this district is all about this is our district's commitment and quite frankly is one
014that I take personally we share with our staff and families on Friday information about kovat 2020 2021 fall planning task force next week we will begin to survey all of our families to gather their input about the needs their preferences getting an idea of what concerns that families have related to the start of school in the fall and we are encouraging all of our families all of our parents to complete a survey for each building in which you have a child enroll what this will do is allow a test for us to take this feedback and consider this feedback as we begin to plan for school in the default just also make sure that we are meeting our family's needs and our learning goals and of course we will make sure we are following the
015public health and safety guidelines and so I appreciate the more than 200 administrators and teachers that are serving on working groups as part of this fall planning task force I also want to thank the I guess the world-famous now Hannah Hurst the deerfield art teacher Darcy Krause our elementary direktor and dr. Michael Koontz currently still on the contract at Deerfield Elementary those three individuals are representing Lawrence public schools and serving on the State Department of Education task force for reopening schools and the state has told us that they will give us guidance by July 10th one of the suggestions we heard from parents throughout the continuous learning plan survey was a preference for teachers to use a single online learning platform so doing the emergency building closures we allowed our teachers to use the platforms
016which which they were most familiar with and most comfortable with we will be working with our teachers this coming year to provide professional development in order to support transition to one elementary and one secondary online learning platform by the start of the school year I want to share that so our parents know that we are listening to your feedback so please take any surveys that we sin we do let's look at those results in respond to them I want to give a huge shout-out to our negotiations team they have reached a tentative agreement I want to thank our board members that served on that committee district and school administrators and our teachers who also served on negotiation team this year I do understand that this is the earliest that we've had a tentative agreement in
017recent memory so kudos to the entire team there just goes to show you what what great work we can do together our Summer Food Service Program continues at nine locations including Hillcrest Kennedy Pinckney Prairie Park Billy Mills and the following community parks and recreation centers east Laurens Center Holcomb Park in South Park we invite Sergent children's who continue to enjoy those free grab-and-go meals this summer including picking up enough meals for the weekends on Fridays at all of those sites we have open up our high school athletic feels to the community we want to continue to encourage our public health and safety guidelines are followed including appropriate physical distancing when using our outdoor athletic facilities one of our equity partners the Midwest and equity Plains equity Assistance Center will host a virtual world cafe about
018meeting the needs of all students during kovat 19 a conversation about supporting students and families in underserved communities and this will be on June the 22nd from 1:30 to 3 p.m. the map Center also continues to host free virtual parent roundtables this month I invite interested staff and parents to take advantage of these free opportunities for continued dialogue about these important topics you can find more information on this and other map Center offerings on our website USD 497 or Ford slash coronavirus and then finally congratulations to Free State High School student athlete Tatum Clopton Tatum was named the Gatorade Kansas softball player of the year now this program recognizes the nation's most elite high school athletes for not only their academic excellence I'm sorry not yet not only their athletic excellence rather but also for
019the high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character and we are super Firebird proud of Tatum that's all I have thank you dr. Lewis we will move on to patron commentary and I will go ahead and read audience participation and then read the policy comments more after that so the USD 497 Board of Education welcomes patron commented thanks you for taking the time to talk to us about our policies and procedures we set aside this time during our regular meetings to hear from the public this is your time to share opinions however complaints about specific staff or students will be heard by the board in executive session in order to protect the privacy of the individuals to be discussed while you are not required to share your contact information we ask for that information so
020district staff or the board can follow up with any specific concerns you may have the board president will invite comments on topics not included on the agenda at the beginning of each meeting comments relating to an agenda item are welcome after the board has had the opportunity to discuss the topics and we made comments to 5-minutes so I have we have quite a few comments some of them are related to one specific topic and that is the Union unionization of PAL CWA so I will go ahead and read the comments that are not related to that but I wanted to also comment that we had the discussion with the chair of Pao henna and we we asked because of the numerous comments that we had heard boy pour per board policy to have spokespeople represented
021as it relates to the different topics I know it's similar in some content but then we are some differences so and now I understand that there are a few people that will speak on behalf of a group of people and I just wanted to make sure I read that board policy to be transparent the board president may impose a limit on the amount of time a visitor may have to address the board and the total time devote it to public comment at any given meeting the board president may ask groups with the same special interests to appoint a spokesperson if it appears that the matter the matter that a visitor wishes - wishes the board to consider will consume an amount of time the board fills cannot be spared at said meeting the board will
022invite such visitor to return at another regular meeting or at a designated special meeting that is policy BC bi B as in Bravo C as in Charlie B as in Bravo indigo so I wanted to go ahead and read the compatriot commentary from it's not related we had a comment from Christy Knox this topic was student mental health it says dear board please evaluate tardy and attendance policies related to visiting a counselor or psych during school hours we have found some particularly the new guidelines at la okay make it make it more difficult to and discourage our students from reaching out for help communication between teacher and counselor isn't happening and if a counselor isn't available which also needs to be addressed more mental health support is needed a student can be late to class
023without an excuse this sometimes causes issues between the student and the teachers as well there has to be a better way to approach this thank you then I have another comment from Erin Lawrence I will just to be transparent with Erin if you're listening I will read highlighted infamy I won't read a specific amount of information due to not to naming individuals that are employees here I will urge school board members to seriously consider the impact of both one-to-one device usage by middle school students as well as the presence of personal cell phones with students during the day I would love to see action on this matter and I stated in the email connecting with organizations such as start in Kansas City could provide a wealth of education to our students families and community middle
024school students are currently being failed in the lack of adult presence and education as they learn to navigate technology and social media I think that's any more come in Elise okay and then part of me I again once again I had a chance to review some of the some of the bored me patron commentary and I wanted to at least acknowledge the individuals who who who reached out to the board and share the similarities and then go ahead and add additional so if you don't feel like your comment was appropriately expressed please feel free to contact us and we can have another opportunity at another board meeting so and then for individuals that will speak if you don't mind to go afterwards that would be great so I have a couple of letters of support
025that are similar from Emily Rae Rubin Markstrom Mindy Nichols are Liz Creek Road and Abbie Hoffman expressing their support for for pal CWA the comments the familiar the consistency is that para educators are compassionate they they put all put time and effort into our scholars they advocate for our scholars and they have a connection that isn't similar to our general ed teachers and we cannot run schools without them Lindsay Burke current president president surely president yes of le a officially now she made the comment about part of the reason of that she entered into education was because her father was a para educator for 20 years and it led her into special education I apologize I have like I said multiple windows that I have to navigate as well as Jamar Reese is s an
026assistant assistant basketball coach so those were were similar in nature so I apologize I wanted to read a little bit of free States high school social worker Audrey Trowbridge I would like to I would like to express my support for pala CWA and to request the school board please acknowledge and make some measurable commitments to supporting this union black lives matter organizations are protesting around the country right now to abolish and defund Police Department's seems now we are way past due to putting support behind our districts most vulnerable under compensated employees it is my hope that in the show of solidarity and support support for equity and justice we make this right retaining and recruiting classified and certified staff of color is of the utmost importance to me and when we are lucky enough to
027get them we should make it harder for them to want to leave by making sure that they have the resources and the support that give them a work environment that is satisfying the Union should be an easy yes and I wanted to also share Sarah Sally I can't find it sentiments as well she is a para educator and in addition to the the common focus of support went into how many of the para educators have to work multiple jobs and I apologize give me a few minutes for some reason when I scrolled through again with that on that one it did not show up thank you for being patient oh there it is sorry Sarah Sally Birmingham says I work as a para therapeutic in the secondary therapeutic classroom with students from both high schools
028I was inspired by my co-workers to join the Union and I'm so glad I did as I feel more connected with other powers in the district I have been both inspired and disheartened by the stories I've heard about others experiences inspired by hearing about meaningful moments working with and learning from students and disheartened by hearing about moments of Paris feeling on unheard unsupported dismissed we're trying to do what is best for students I feel very fortunate to work in a classroom where our staff internally has a culture of respect and our voices being heard in advocating for ourselves and our students that should be the norm across the entire district in every classroom it can be a challenging job and many of us many or most of us have to work additional jobs to get
029by financially recognition of our union will help in many ways we can work towards things like better training pay raises and increased inclusion to help with morale and the retention of Paris staff I myself work several jobs and would be happy for that need to be reduced and for work working with students to be more sustainable a more sustainable part of my career thank you to everyone for taking the time this evening to listen speak and support school board members please recognize us please vote to opt into para PE RA and recognize our union we also have I just wanted to acknowledge the Lauren's Professional Firefighters also wrote a letter of support sharing the same sentiments okay okay so Hannah will introduce the others that will speak on behalf of the small sections of groups
030Hannah and thank you so much to dr. Lewis into the school board for having us here tonight we're really excited to be able to talk with you about why we want you to vote to recognize our union pal CWA and to opt-in to the state public sector bargaining law called Kira so I'm gonna introduce folks and we'll have a variety of spokes feet of folks speaking from a variety of positions across the district about who they are and and how they are connected to our union and why they believe you should vote to recognize our union and opt into Pyrrha so I am gonna call first on Tatyana from our pal CWA organizing committee oh so I'm talking a younger lady is she hurt pronouns I'm a paraeducator a community organizer no no Hannah said
031I work with the PAL CWA organizing committee and I started my journey as a para only in August of last year and it's already been a really life-changing thing for me there I have been touched and grateful why all the experiences I've had in that cut in my I work in the secondary therapy classroom and seeing firsthand the impact that Parris could have on students and our students then a lot of people would assume and think and I think that it is it takes into it oh god it doesn't come into account how heavy that weight can be carrying that we carry and so coming together into a community that we can talk about all the things that we need to be supported and then also come together and educate each other about the things
032going on in our schools is a good reason to me that we should have our union recognized I think that having that community element also works together for us to be able to organize better we can organize not only as a para union team but as educators I know right now we want to come gather and work with kids educators for a Justice George Floyd and black lives matter in our schools petition to work on finding concrete ways that we can protect black and indigenous and other students of color and all together this all just it's all difficult enough to say that having a community of Parra's is irreplaceable and I would really be it would mean a lot to all of us if you could find it if you could be able to recognize
033us and recognize argument thanks Tatiana I'm gonna call next on Neil Kennedy and I'll let folks introduce themselves and their sort of who they are in the world thanks Anna and thanks for the school board for having a community member is here to speak on behalf of PAL I'm a GTA and the Graduate teaching assistant and a PhD candidate in American Studies at K U and I also serve as president of our local union which is organized under the American Federation of Teachers and more local number 64 of three and more importantly I'm also the daughter of a former para and Ilan kansan and I was actually in high school at Spiga high when Brownback came to power and I saw firsthand what the funding education does to my fellow students and also I see
034it on the other side of the classroom now as a teacher and educator and so all that life experience and all of what I care about of the community comes together in coal buses here with supporting the parrot Union because they're really the ones on the ground of making the difference in our students lives and also if we're about equity if we're about justice then we're about supporting the people who are there in the classroom supporting our students with various disabilities and so if we are about racial justice if we're about gender equality if we are about you know breaking down class barriers then we're about supporting prepare us and supporting those in the classroom who are making the difference is on the ground and when we support educators and we support our educators working
035conditions by making sure that they don't have to work to other spare jobs to make ends meet like my mom did when she was a para raising two children as a single mom then we're supporting our students learning conditions and we're making our community as a whole stronger and so as a Lawrence resident and Lawrence voter I 100 cents and behind the Perry gains and we should be recognizing them and supporting them and also I wanted to I had some members reach out to me who are a part of the special education department that's K you and they want to make sure that again supporting the Union is about supporting our students with disabilities and again that means supporting our community and they are our spent department at Ko is one of the best in
036the country and so they are also wanting to make sure that this is about changing things systemically and it starts here and it starts with recognizing the pear pear Union and opting into pyrrha and I guess you know I heard that your school the school district students is all students one team I think it's even more broad than that dance like all Lawrence one team I think it starts right here so again thank you for inviting me to speak on behalf of their union Thank You Neil next we have Craig hello I'm Craig Williams I'm the homeowner Lawrence a lifelong resident of Lawrence I'm a Lawrence High School graduate and a parent of three daughters to which I've graduated from Lawrence I am one that which is attending Lord Sai from the CWA member and
037the local CWA president of love living in Lawrence because it's a community that supports in schools and supports a just and fair community including Rachel I'm sorry including gender equality racial justice and of course workers rights I believe a strong labor mover help our community thrive and you see there be a member and it see to be a president I know the value of having the ability to advocate collectively for working conditions I also know the peace of mind that comes with a union contract I've sees firsthand over and over how union contracts for God's ability job protection and overall peace of mind for union members I've also seen the value of a union during the Cova 19 outbreak compensation safe working conditions and time law for its members making sure all the members safety
038was the highest priority many members even made respirators for everyone's safety I'm proud to be a member of the CWA and I truly believe the CWA have its members best interest set as top priority the para educators movement is so important to me personally because I have two daughters that wented Lauren school system both had IEP s and both used the Paras daily eldest daughter Sarah was diagnosed with auditory processing disorder in grade school this means Sarah had a very hard time processing what she reads or hears pears pay a vital role of her success throughout her school years everything she had everything had to be read aloud to her so she could understand the support she received not only helped her succeed the sport also gave her the confidence that she lacked stairs now
03922 years old in college part-time married and a homeowner Lawrence we really support we really have the support of all the pairs and thinks what really support have the support all the pairs of things for her success without their support Sarah would have been lost in the system and she required so much help we were really thankful for the support my wife I don't know oh I do know that Sarah's self-confidence and drive for success all started because of the pair of educators I support the parent educators organizing because that's what's best for them they deserve a voice and a seat at the bargaining table they are critical to many families and Lawrence and their compassion drive for success and teaching methods are remarkable I'm sure that there are thousands of stories just like mine
040from Lawrence parents as a Lawrence resident and concerned parents and a voter I ask that you please vote to opt in to Pyrrha and recognize the fair Union as a local CWA president I would like a commitment from the board to vote on this matter by June the 22nd thank you Thank You Craig now we're going to go to Anna see ya my name is Anna Sousa the main IAM and an obese high school graduate high school go lions many people do not know that I am on the autism spectrum I receive special education services through my elementary school years I socially and academically because of the support guidance love and dedication of wonderful para educators and of course my special education teachers this is why my much hopes to become a parent in a
041school district and she and all the parent educators work really hard to ensure that all the students at USD four nine seven are included in the district's vision of all students one team I would like you all to please vote to recognize the panel CWA union thank you thank you on a Cydia now we are gonna go to Mimi hi my name is Mimi horn and I'm a union member I've been there for the last three years and I'm also a legal guardian of a special needs student and I'd like to express my support and I know what having an Union and community support means to me see I Drive a school bus so I come in contact with teachers and it's directly along with the student and their care while they're being transported so
042being in the Union means that you know we have the ability to advocate collectively who are working conditions as William mentioned and to make sure that all our students have the support that they need especially our special education services who rely on Paris and instructional staff support so I say who adapt to a variety of working conditions and situations who work hard every day to make our community safe remember Paris working conditions or our students learning conditions so please vote to opt in to peer and recognize our pair's union our students one team together United will never be defeated Thank You Mimi love love a chance y'all okay now we have Andrew to close us out hmm Thank You Hanni Hanna and Wow every single person that spoke into the meeting tonight everybody that has
043sent in a message is patron commentary public commentary everybody that's spreading the message and building momentum around this specific topic and how this specific topic is connected to so many more topics and justice I am Andrew Nussbaum my pronouns are he/him I support the P AE L CWA as a brother I support it as a colleague to hundreds of Paris I support it as a social justice educator who understands critical pedagogy a special education teacher who knows that my work is only possible alongside our Paris work a community member that understands this is about racial economic gender and disability justice the voices you heard as I even heard one of the public commentary said this can be an easy yes all students one team is only possible if we ensure that our team is led
044by the wisdom of pairs that are most directly affected in our working conditions and supporting and effecting our students learning conditions our five-year strategic plan has five different themes cohesive curriculum student-centered learning safe and supportive schools effective employees and data informed decisions without a perry union where paris can bargain and work towards a meaningful and living wage where they can bargain for their working conditions where they can partner in membership and partnership with the le a as i am le a union member we are not working towards all students one team our vision states as a district the school board administration teachers and staff build positive relationships seek multiple perspectives set high expectations and hold each other accountable for ensuring that through equitable access to relevant and seamlessly aligned curriculum an effective research-based instruction all
045students will achieve at high levels graduate in time and are well prepared for the future Here I am as one of two secondary therapeutic special education disc teachers in this district asking that hold myself and all of you on the board and all of our executive leadership team at the district to listen to the multiple perspectives that are being shared tonight and shared for years and will be shared for years going forward I'm asking us to understand the positive relationships that pair is build directly with students I'm asking the board to recognize us to vote to opt in to para and recognize the Union so it strengthens all of our community and especially the students that live here black lives matter the pair Union needs to be able to exist so that we can engage
046and ensuring that the movement for black lives and United community can actually come into fruition and exist here in Lawrence thank you thank you again school board members and dr. Lewis for having us here to speak tonight we really appreciate it this time we ask that you vote to recognize us and didn't appear Carroll could be Berkeley and I would like to thank everyone I would make make at the time which is advocating for our community thank you everyone from Powell on May 27th I attended the Kansas Association of school board with meeting with fellow board members Shannon Kimball and Paula Smith May 29th they had lunch on Friday at lunch with dr. Lewis a virtual lunch and may 20 at that very same day I did a meeting with the Centers for Disease Control
047for Institutes of higher learning offering considerations for ways in which Institutes of higher education can help protect students and employees and slow the spread of kovat 19 on June 5th I attended the Planning Committee for the Global Alliance education of Nations virtual summit to be held on June 19th and on Saturday June 6 I attended the region 3 Midwest and plains equity assistances Center virtual world cafe we had a robust conversation in our breakout room regarding how to support our youth each other and practice self-care as parents and caregivers and I would like to thank dr. Lewis for his message to the community earlier this week on June 2nd he spoke about the district's commitment to work to M system across racism discrimination based on race and ethnicity takes many forms sometimes it is covert
048which is perhaps the most psychologically damaging in 2018 the district has made an advanced such as rededicating Billy Mills middle school it is the first public school in America to be renamed after Native American I'm humbled and honored to be on this board in in this district that is committed to promoting policies at all levels that will combat racism and its effects in our civic and social institutions the failure to act or become complicit in systemic racism hurts those who are victimized and denies all of us the opportunity to benefit from the gifts adversity all students one team thank you Thank You Carol er this is gr I'll just I'll be quick so this last week I had an opportunity to do a couple things one was to wrap up negotiations first year on negotiations
049with Melissa and Kelly and so that was a lot of fun I learned a lot it was a great experience some some highs and lows and and I got to express in a lot of different meetings I got to express my love language in many different ways which is sarcasm for anyone who doesn't know so great great opportunities there but it was it was good it was fun and I was I'm proud of the work that we were able to accomplish not just us but just collaboratively as a collective group got to go to a Facilities Committee me with Shannon and here on the updates mainly on the construction projects which all seemed to be going well and and be on track and things are going and things are looking up there I'll comment on
050one thing that dr. Lewis said that I was going to comment on last Friday we we opened up our athletic fields at the two high schools and and and I want to make a comment on that you know I know when we made the decision to close those fields a lot of people were upset that we chose to close those fields and we did it for some specific reasons and I can appreciate that that people may have not agreed with those reasons and they may not have liked that we closed those fields and felt like that part of their routine and part of what they wanted to do was to still access those fields and I get that and I understand because everybody had to adjust and make some make some choices about at that
051median I was I will have to freely admit here in public that I was fairly disappointed to find out that over the course of the time that those fields were cut those fields were closed that we lost at least four walks two people showing up with bolt cutters to cut them to open up the gates to get into those fields and I will have to say that the Lawrence that I know is better than that and and and so I get it I get that you're frustrated and I get that that you wanted access to those fields but that that really disappointed me when I heard that that information I'd like to thank dr. Lewis for his statement as well I when I read it and when I was reading through it and especially when
052he reread the part tonight it reminded me and just re-emphasized how proud I am of the board that we serve on and and the fact that we collectively as a board to the best of our ability represent the students of this district and the diversity that we have across the board and I think we have a unique opportunity as he said to listen to voices that are in our own and to learn from each other and I certainly have an opportunity and have learned from each of you in in more ways than one I have a question for you dr. Lewis when you were talking about the fall task force and you were gonna send out surveys to family I know you have some staff working on that but the staff that aren't involved are
053you gonna do a collective survey to staff to with the same questions about if they have concerns or anything that you're sending in to families we haven't talked about a survey for staff yet we have just really looked at we're just trying to gauge what our parents were thinking right now in terms of you know what do they want to see their kids back in what are some things we need to have in place to make them feel comfortable okay I mean obviously the the people that's on the task force are good representation of all of our staff okay in the district but there is a need for us to do another survey we will okay and then and then and then lastly I would like to thank all the all the people with the
054support of PAL that email that we got the people who spoke tonight and then if you're going to address this later I'm perfectly fine with you doing it later you don't have to do it now but if you could because I may have missed it no you said you I wanted to sorry Melissa sorry I'm talking I'm looking and pointing at Melissa which I do all the time when I'm on the phone I'll point out my screen and play exceed this know it I would like kind of an outline of what the timeline is what and so if you're gonna go if melissa is going to go over that you don't have to do it right now but I would like that before we leave here tonight that's it that's all I had I mean
055I can I can address that we spoke as a board officers as well and and we spoke with Hanna and them and I don't know on the Facebook page I wanted to make sure we reiterated that you know we had conversations individually and is my understanding that members of PAL CWA also met met virtually with some other board members but we have to come together as a collective like as an entire board and with their board with their board or their organizers in a work session so I know an individual said they wanted a vote by yes about June 22nd that's not that that can't happen we plan to have a work session in July and have that discussion so that we can ask questions collectively and it's open for the public to hear and
056be transparent because we can go around individually and say yes yes yes yes we support this or we have further questions but if to be transparent and open that's what what needs to happen and then we can decide that like the following board meeting or something like that whether what the vote will look like and I mean because there there are the aspects with - that - the requests - it may not be it it may not be necessarily no but it may be some things that are in there that we may have to modify and or you know as we have that discussion so isn't it's not gonna happen this month but we will be having a work session in July we'll try to collaborate with everyone schedule I'll just add to the why
057it's not happening on June 22nd it's just a timing thing we just need time to schedule the meeting it's not a it's not for any other reason than we need to get our ducks in a row and the June 2000 and a few other issues will take up our June 22nd meeting so just it naturally we meet every two weeks I mean for the community to know this we meet every two weeks we have July 4th that happens and then so it'll be the July meeting ish we suspect but we're all committed to having the conversation and making sure that all the questions we have get answered and that we do this in a way that supports everybody yes thank you any other board members that's correct [Music] I also attended the equity coalition here
058in Douglas County so they were looking for they were looking to start a co big well there's a cove in nineteen recovery coordination team so that equity coalition jasmine Moore was requesting people to serve on that equity team so that will kind of have a lens across all of those areas on the recovery coordination team model that they put together and that's all that I have Thanks thank you hi Melissa this is Shannon I just have a couple of things I wanted to share at the end of May ksb held almost weekly board Leadership Forum we had you know best practices for public comment during virtual board meetings so I was very um all event for our meeting tonight and then we also heard an update on legislative actions from the Kas be advocacy staff
059although the legislature did pass an education bill on sunny day the governor vetoed it and that bill did not reappear during his session so there wasn't any additional legislation that was passed related to public schools at the last minute so that was good news one of my duties as ke ASB president is that I put in monthly calls with staff and the National School Board Association and state presidents from all over the country to listen in on news from from that organization NSBA just recently hired a new executive collector she began her duties on July 1st her name are June first I'm sorry her name is Ana Chavez I have heard her speak a little bit now about her her work beginning in SBA and I'm very excited about her leadership that she brings to
060that organization they also gave us an update from their legal staff on some new title 9 regulations that have come out and I think I mentioned this at our last board meeting that relate to investigations of sexual assault and harassment health nation's particularly in the k12 and post-secondary context so we have committed as a policy committee to review those that new guidance at an upcoming meeting we've had a couple of others as Paula mentioned we had a meeting last Monday and spent a good bit of time talking about our current guidance and policy on school site councils and so we may be looking at bringing some recommendations to the board around guidance sample bylaws and possibly some changes to that policy upcoming so that's that's we're working on that first before we dig into this
061the title 9 issues which there's a great deal there's the I think David said the regulations themselves are like 1,200 pages long so we have our work cut out for us I also wanted to share that I have the I'm excited to be participating as a board member on one of the working groups for K SDE on the guidance that dr. Lewis mentioned I'm excited that we have staff representing our district that's been working doing that work as well I'm on a sub group for great the grades 3 through 5 cohort looking at best practices and models for instruction and should we have another disruption in attendance this fall due to the pandemic and as dr. Lewis mentioned that guidance is supposed to be coming to districts in its final form no later than July
06210th and then attended the Facilities Committee that gr are already covered I'm really excited to hear that our construction projects are all unscheduled right now and I think that that we've you know we've done our best with trying to manage disruptions related to the pandemic and with on the construction side that seems to be going well so that's all I have thank you thank you sir but I'm sorry this Erica have a brief update um first I'd like to thank dr. Lopez very miss powerful statement and commitment to ugly your statement made very proud to serve in this role so thank you so much for that and seventh I met with the president of the National Black Council of the National School Board Association we had a great Congress has more of an introduction on
063hopefully better things to come in the future and then lastly I am happy to announce that in partnership with Orange Public Schools elementary identified or executive interim scholars to work alongside our executive team in myself for the entire summer and I have the opportunity to talk to him on the phone but I met them in person this morning during their career orientation so I'm very excited about the experience that they'll have the share is gonna be a little bit different from West will be in-person and virtual and be ensured all the protocols making sure their safety is our first priority so I'm excited to work with these young scholars that's all I have you tell us a little bit maybe about scholars they both schools yep there I'll tell you a little bit we're getting
064ready to do a public announcement um pictures and the whole the whole thing so um so yeah they represent both schools and they are there's cute sitting all right this morning so they're really excited to get started in our executive mentors are excited as well and hopefully they'll be able to come and present to the board a little small conversation like last year if time allows I just I wanted to send a pair of educators but Erica your enthusiasm for the scholars is really awesome it's nice to see it I'm excited to meet them and thanks for doing the work I I just want to acknowledge the phenomenal organizing that's been happening from the pair of educators and how effective they've been in getting their message out to the community to other union members in
065the city and just to say to them congratulations it's really really fine work and we look forward to working with you and hearing more about how we can better support Peres in the district and hopefully we can also start to talk about other classified staff as well and and begin to think through all the good things that we have to do for Peres coming up that we also are obliged to do for other workers as well and this is a really good step forward and a great model for us so I'm excited to hear from you all so thank you again for your organizing and that's it thank you Student Service Advisory Council I know they're not recognized as a site Council due to the building name but I would like to bring that up
066at some point have that discussion around that being included in with parents of colors or the equity Advisory Committee following you guys about are you hoping they see that would you like that to be a vote there's two different things I've heard Zarek's I just want to make sure I understand you seeing them as a board committee or you would you like to see them recognized in the same way that we recognize site councils which is a little bit a little bit different in an advisory role I mean just in terms of how they in an advisory role sorry Kelly it's similar to the way recognize parents of color and the equity Council correct yes okay but parents of color consist of black and brown parents so I'm wondering maybe I'm trying to see what
067the additional addition to that is because we my dear Lee the last I checked we've had representation from from all like historically marginalized populations with definitely with parents of color advisory it's a little different because it they they Native American Student Services parent committee that's a federal treaty federal trust and treaty obligation so it's a whole different entity so you say in SEP so that's what I mean that's it's a federal committee yeah designation so mass yeah in in it's all kind of the trust in treaty obligations yeah I was I was just I was just trying to clear like clarify for myself though yeah okay it's a whole history lesson there thank you thank you for that clarification we will move to consent agenda oh did someone say did I miss any comments okay
068consent agenda agenda items are those that are considered routine and are adopted by one motion unless any board member or the superintendent requests that an item be removed the item or items removed are voted on separately is gr I move the Board of Education adopt the items listed on the consent agenda Jones yes could do Blackwood yes he'll Gordon Hoss yes Kimball yes Smith yes Johnson yes motion passes 7-0 at least I don't see the retirements in my email are they in there Oh Susan Harris so we wanted to take a moment I was um I want to apologize for my fumbling there I was looking through my email to find the retirement so we want to recognize tonight Susan Harris a service to the school district six years that she's served here and we
069congratulate you on your retirement thank you it's a little different when you're back yes okay at this time we will have a report from student services you'll have an update with Kevin Royale executive director of student services and Jose Cornejo until health facilitator good evening it's nice to see if you've all been so many virtual meetings that actually see my people here it's kind of frightening actually deceive my name is Kevin Rowe I'm an executive director of student services in special education and you also be hearing from Hosea Cornejo our district mental health facilitator tonight we're going to give you an update on student services specifically related to student social-emotional learning behavioral and mental health services and support that we provide to our students and our staff in light of the events that are going
070on in our nation right now I think it's more evident that we really need to focus on making sure we are meeting our students needs making them feel safe and along with that making sure that we are teaching them the skills that they need to navigate making relationships and just building things and and with that I want to make sure I say that we often talk about the interventions and when students go into crisis and the things that what we put in place to support them but it's also important to note that through our CI 3t we talk about academics in the three tiers it's also social and emotional behavioral things that we also have tier 1 because that prevention and making sure students have those skills are a priority and so that's what you
071move forward we don't talk about that as much but it's important and so well 60 years ago the school board made a commitment to student mental health and behavioral health by creating a position a mental health facilitator for the district out of general a typically special later as where a lot of these things happen but our district made that commitment and we have the mental health facilitator for our district now I can tell you when I go to special education meetings whether the directors in our region they're all jealous because Lawrence it's it's it's it's a pride of ours and and everyone knows it's a need but it just hasn't happened everywhere so I expect you'll see that more often and so as we tonight we're going to talk about things that have happened typically
072bringing information that ok this is what happened during the school year but with Kobe 19 everything was kind of interrupted so we're gonna talk about or hey suppose I was gonna share with you some of the things that's happened some of the impact what we've done and what we're gonna do is we move forward it's also to note that when we talk about student mental health and student behavioral supports it's not able to learn to public school thing it really is a community thing and and as we work with our community and those they will share it with you some of the organizations that we work with our community really reaches out to work with us to support students knowing that this is where students are but when they leave us when they're home Levine
073in the summers and breaks they still need those supports and we have a really close relationship with our community so with that I'm gonna let Jose good evening I'm Jose Cornejo the district metal health facilitator it's an honor and privilege to be able to present to you tonight and also speak with you about some of the things we're doing through student services to support our students I'm honored to be in this position to be to be honest with you I've had an opportunity like Kevin said to be in front of a lot of webinars and meeting with our counselors and social workers meeting with elementary counselors pretty readily and and the effort and the amount of energy that they have put into making sure that the needs of our students in large public schools are
074being bad they went above and beyond what we would expect of anybody and they all of our men health professionals in our district if they were here today I would I would ask that we stand and applaud them for the efforts that they have put out to support our students and families I read recently McDonald's put out their publication on how they were going to reopen their stores and the first line and there manual I figured how many pages it was was we have one opportunity to get this right and that stuck with me as as the mental health facilitator for our district and going into this presentation I want us to think about how are we going to get this right so that we make sure that our students our staff and our parents
075receive the necessary supports as we move forward whether it's back in our brick and mortar buildings or whether it's a combination of brick and mortar or virtual or whether it's all virtual what are we going to do to provide those supports and resources to our students staff and families as we move forward but some of the highlights that we can build off of it's the I can fund to start with the the fund that's managed through the Lawrence School Foundation we supported 120 families with the grocery store gift cards we probably could have supported more but the funding was shifted to support the agencies that were providing the mills their various restaurants in our community it was a tough decision but to support hundred 20 families with $50 gift cards or $100 gift cards depending
076on the size of family speaks volumes to what we are capable of doing as a school district we purchased over $1200 in Buffs bus passes to help students get to and from school and then when the when the pandemic struck that I'm assuming they used those bus passes to maybe navigate getting to the various agencies in our community that provided the resources that they needed to navigate the pandemic and we provided over $8,500 and mattresses and an emergency placement for families and the emergency placement was basically hotel paying for hotels so in various circumstances where families needed that emergency placement we provided that opportunity to allow them to have a safe place to spend nights or weeks but then also buying mattresses for our students so that they had a place to something comfortable to
077sleep on every night so that they could come to school daily ready to learn and engage age in the academics and at the beginning of the pandemic our district social workers and counselors worked vigorously to make sure that we had a resource list available to all of our families and staff in the district me and they worked hard keeping it up to date and as information change they make they made sure that that live document stayed current with with the changes going on in our community our counselors regularly joined classrooms in meetings to engage with students whether that was facilitating a social skill lesson or just being there to be present so that students could see their face and see their counselor that they were used to seeing on a daily basis in our buildings
078and our building mental health team stayed engaged with teachers to offer support for students families and teachers in navigating the change and the way learning was delivered but also just to make sure that students stayed in front of our social workers and counselors so that they continued to build on that relationship and provide the support necessary our counselor shared social-emotional choice boards with with their schools for various grade levels so they made sure that the choice boards were age-appropriate so that students had an opportunity with their families or with their the adults in their homes to continue to work on acts of kindness and gratitude and respect and then our Rapp specialists the program that we partner with Byrd Nash they continue to provide support to students in our in our in the buildings that
079they are assigned to students that were on their list but then students that were added to their list as teachers would reach out to them and say I'm concerned about so-and-so could you reach out to them so they they continue to provide that support and they also continue to provide support for teachers I'm a sounding board for teachers to help them navigate their day-to-day emotions that that we all went through and then we through various funding sources that I'm not aware of but we we have added a summer counseling support program so we have a counselor in place to provide a couple hours a day of support for students and families so that if a student needs somebody to talk to that number is there for them to reach out to you and you know
080just talk about how things are going or if they need help reaching or accessing something or the community that counselor is there to provide that guidance and then the district is added 15 days to my contract so that I can come in in July and work with Kevin to start planning preparing and providing some support on what some of the supports might look like as we move in into August and also give me an opportunity to collaborate with our community agencies and and what that support might look like that we'll need from them as we move into our next school year again one of the things we're doing that that came to a screeching halt was we are working with Bird Nash and Tazz and on a school mental health initiative we're supposed to move
081to go to Wichita tomorrow to work on this mental health initiative but that's been rescheduled for June of 2021 so we'll continue to work with Tazz and Byrd national and establish you know what that might look like in in fine-tuning and building our mental support systems within our schools but currently we were working with deca in the Mid America and mental health Technical Center Network and and that through that work were we've done an assessment district assessment on mental health supports in the district and in come August we'll have buildings do the same assessment but through that information we'll have an opportunity to measure the things that we are doing well we know we have good teams in our district so that may not be the support that we need from the Technical Center but
082it also gives us an opportunity to do resource mapping or to look at our tiered support system and in what areas that we need to refine and build and strengthen within our school districts and so we're through deca and the Center Network we're looking at that program and how we can improve our mental health supports and then some of the data that we looked at recently we saw 25 percent decrease in student site interventions this this last year from August to Mars compared ad to August to March of last year and we attribute that to our Student Service and all those professionals being present in our buildings and Rachel provided a develop a video where mental health professionals have an opportunity to talk and I believe you guys video and now a show to school
083students at school and I know Freestate Lawrence High they played it over lunch periods and their commons area so it was on the TV screens and then our counselors and social workers and school psychologists continually making themselves present in classes by doing various presentations on anxiety stress management suicide prevention and just making themselves present so that kids know who to go to when they have concerns about peers or if they're in a crisis but we still we know they've worked at it we want to continue to build the tier-one process so that kids don't cycle into that crisis what we have to do those suicide interventions but the good thing is we know that kids know where those resources are in our buildings we still want to continue to build on that some of the
084challenges that we faced when the pandemic it was concerns with our social workers and counselors was how do we maintain confidentiality with him when we meet with students through the various social or the platforms it was a big concern and we had to figure out a way to navigate that and one of the things we looked at was for the social workers we looked at the NASD for guidance on on how do we navigate that and one of the things that was recommended was you you find another time to be with that student if that's possible and you provide the support that you can provide in that moment for that particular student that you're working with and then the other thing that came up was was defining the role of our social workers and counselors
085early on in the online learning process how could we have used them in a way that maybe met some of the social emotional needs of not only the students but our staff and then also along the same line is utilizing the professional skills our social workers and counselors bring to our district to support the social emotional the mental needs of our students and staff we have a lot of talented social workers and counselors in our school district and how do we utilize those strengths as we move forward and then everybody just the concern for the our student safety and emotional well-being as we as we as we navigate into the summer break and then meeting the basic needs of families was a major concern of our social workers counselors like school psychologists and rap specialists
086as well as our teachers and as well as our board as well as our district administration and then a big concern is being consistent in the use of our social SIL curriculum resources in the district at the elementary school we we have the positive action social scale curriculum at the secondary level we have the connect with kids social skills curriculum all the evidence suggests that a solid social skill curriculum not only closes the academic gap but also gives you a return on your investment and it's something that allows kids learn how to navigate their buildings in a productive way and then an effective implementation of our trauma-informed care approach here in the district so next steps using the district task force to identify the social emotional behavioral and mental wellness supports that students will need
087making sure that a device group device diverse group of mental district mental health professionals and possibly our rap specialists are on that on the task force so that we're at or utilizing their strength as we talk about designing the social-emotional learning skills for our students and staff and they're providing meaningful and relevant relevant professional development to prepare our district staff for the return of our students things like relationship building grief trauma-informed care managing stress and anxiety things that we know students staff Revere and back with come back to school or but providing that space for them so that they can process the impact the pandemic had on them and then continue to collaborate bird ash and ways in which we can support our students during and after school / - has been a great partner
088with us during the pandemic I've had an opportunity to stay in touch with Judy Rodman the director of child and family care and Karla to Hart the director supervisor of the rat program and in making sure that we are staying in tuned have they seen an increase in the crisis center at verdun - so that we could be aware and would it be possible for them to share students names with us so that the counselor or the social worker at that school could reach out to that student as well and so that those are the communications we had with bird ash throughout the process of being closed this spring and the other thing I think we could take advantage of is collaborating with the Boys and Girls Club to enroll to interview or to talk
089to students who are enrolled in the summer program and learn from them what in how did the stay at home rule impact you and what type of supports are you going to need when you come back to school in August or September or whenever that might be so that we can use that information to prepare the supports for our students when they come back to school and then our student support facilitator at the Middle School will work with district student service teams and district behavior consultants so making sure that that collaboration is going on so that we're making sure that we identify the appropriate interventions for our students and then I think the big thing is to expect the unexpected and to be gracious and to be kind and to be understanding that we need
090to meet each individual where they are and then work from there or in addressing how we can support them so that I think they can be a not only successful that feel safe and comfortable when they come back to school in August questions I a couple questions but I'll I'll just start with this first of all I would like to say as a board member and as a social worker really pleased to hear the expanding relationship between Burton Nash and for my my colleagues on the board can you talk a little bit about the difference between a rap social worker versus some social worker from child and family services at Burton Nash and how they how it becomes important that we both have rap and have a relationship with the folks that serve serve students
091on their caseload if you if you could talk about that a little bit the rap program was developed I guess in 98 and so they they are for the most part they are social workers or they have some type of counseling degree and they work directly in our buildings so they have act direct access to our students most of them are housed in our Student Service Center so they share offices with the counselors and the social workers and and if through our mental health teams we we we find students that need some additional social emotional support we can refer them to the rap program and the rap specialists will reach out not only to the student but to the family members to introduce themselves and explain the type of services that they provide and then
092they use often times set up an appointment with a student so where the student can regularly check in with them or it could be us as needed it just kind of depends on what the student need is we also use them where they they serve on our metal teams and we utilize their expertise that they bring to the table the mental health center side perspective and then they also if the students that they work with happen to also be using Bernath services they can serve as that liaison between Byrd Nash and the school district to help support the student at school but also help the school understand the type of services that the student might be receiving and also keep us attune to as a student keeping them their appointments regularly are they receiving medications
093if so what type of medical obviously all this information is kept confidential and it's only used to look at the supports and interventions that may be necessary for the student and then they also provide support for our teachers teachers can go and talk to them one-on-one if that they're having challenges personally or if they're having some challenges with students on how to develop a working relationship with that particular student so it's a wonderful working relationship how they differentiate between a therapist at burden - the therapist burden - may see the client for 60 minutes and then that session is more confidential than we would necessarily have access that information but if the rapp workers work with students within our buildings we we usually have access to a generalized idea of what they're working on with
094that particular student and how do we support that goal that they're working on with with the students on their on their caseload so one of the ways that the programming could expand and not beyond the therapist is with the caseworker right so that could be like it when you I'm bummed to hear you guys are not meeting and I really wish you were on your way to Wichita honestly I was really excited about that it looked really great so and a year from now feels so long but this is gonna be a crazy year so you know that's okay but the what I wanted I mean one of the things that I think you have done in this role is but built a bridge between Burton ash and the district that allows for things like
095sharing information in a world where confidentiality is so important and that we each have different priorities based on our various designations so there's the therapist piece but one of the things that I think will emerge in the next year or so particularly with the some new leadership at Burton Ashe is the opportunity to expand collaborating more directly with the case managers within the with a child who has a case manager which is different than a therapist so that I'm excited to see that I really appreciate that you that you both have been I know meeting with Burton Ashe and working toward looking at how how might that look for students have more intensive needs so thank you for doing that and then I have this other question about the staff so if a staff member
096has a personal issue that they want to bring to a social worker or a mental health professional we you know we have clinical psych folks as well how how do do they know how do you protect the confidentiality there do they how is that service how do you provide that service to staff this I guess I hadn't really I knew you did it in a crisis situation but what does that look like on a day today and has that been communicated to staff okay have a really difficult time with this student can I sound off okay yes but if it gets a little deeper and into personal family related stuff we'll recommend that they okay okay I thought I was hearing about something I didn't know about and I was like wow that's amazing that's
097a lot of a huge workload so okay um thank you so much thank you wait well actually do you want to know if people want to donate I can fund that they just go directly to the Lawrence Schools Foundation and can you designate that specifically because I would like to tell people about that okay okay I'll ask her okay I would like to do that all right thank you I would just like to say thank you cuz saint you know I know I'm a social worker peers I'm just so excited to but you know I'm it so excited to see that this work that you guys are doing it's so important because there's never been a greater time for the preachers of the choir but there's never been such you know greater time tip for
098in mental health support so thank you and and I have a daughter I've did too I had two daughters one just graduated from Lawrence high school but I'm familiar the videos that you spoke of the suicide prevention and you know it it's really it's I went to Lawrence high school and I wish could have had something like that you know just didn't he stigmatize mental health so thank you thank you did I forget any board members that are tuning in virtually or everyone's good to go yes thank you thank you again thank you yeah Kevin we're above those 15 additional days to to provide that yes definitely you said it with a smile so I was like I guess he's he's ready to go okay yeah thank you thank you and I do want to
099add Lucinda Crenshaw and Lorie Greenville are also on that state committee that Shannon Mitchell so you sent me an email so thank you for watching the board meeting as well but that just goes to show you that they want to learn from Lawrence they want the experts from Lawrence as a part of the team so thank you all for working on that team nice great at this time we are going to move to executive session I'll just read it I move to recess to executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel matters of non-elected personnel in order to protect the privacy interests of the individuals to be discussed with dr. Lewis invited to be present and with the board to return to open session and [Music] eight oh well do we need do you need
100five minutes because we also have to get on so with the board should return let's say it'll yeah that'll be great no.6 Oh as a favor I thank you again you yes may we have a motion to adjourn this is your option dr. no action follow okay gr motion to adjourn okay all those in favor you
