For our financial report for April, overall revenue increased 16.3%. That's uh due to a larger beginning balance and an increase in receipts of approximately 12.1%. As I've stated previously, that's a little bit skewed due to the inflation reduction act rebate that we received uh including in being included in that amount. Property tax revenue is up approximately 11%. Motor vehicle revenue is up about 2 and a.5% and utility tax revenue is up approximately 9.8%. Seek revenue for the
year shows an increase of almost 4% at 3.91. Expenditures for salary and benefits are up 7% that is reasonable based on the step and 4 and a.5% raise that was approved for this fiscal year. Non- salary expenditures are up 11.7%. Several of those areas that I track are showing year-to-year decreases, but as I have previously noted, we have cost increases for our insurance, um some software, and one additional bus that is factored into that total overall. That is all I have for the financial report. >> Are there any questions? >> There's no question. >> Approve Scott Brown. Second, Steve Carmichael >> with the first and second. So, so proud of them and it was just a real pleasure to start our meeting off that way. I'd like to thank everyone for being here. Also
like to thank everyone um who is online. Thank you for supporting our students um and our staff. We appreciate each and every one of you. It's been a very busy May, the last few days of school. We have two official school days left. Um we've had a we had a very successful employee of the year ceremony, senior awards night, K through 12 art showcase and CADs awards on Saturday. It's always bittersweet to end another year. Um and we have some really nice ceremonies, awards um coming up, promotion ceremonies at our schools. And um coming up on Thursday is our AECLA graduation on on Thursday at 11 at First Christian Church. So everyone is welcome to attend that as well as our Anderson County High School graduation at 6:30 p.m. for our senior graduates. like to
recognize and congratulate the students and staff of Anderson County Schools for being recognized by Harvard University in a recent research collaborating um to identify 108 school districts across the nation. Um Anderson County Schools um has been recognized as a district on the rise for reading and math for the overall growth um since uh 2020 to present. So, we're very proud of our students. We're very proud of our staff and everyone has worked very hard in order um to reach that accolade. Um we look forward to celebrating with our students and our staff over the next couple of days. I'd like to wish all of our students, families, and staff a very restful, safe, and fun-filled summer making memories with family and friends. Thank you for another very, very successful school year. We have one special
recognition tonight and I do not see our um our student to be recognized um but I will go ahead and recognize her because um this is um obviously the closing to the year and she has a really awesome accolade. Amber Willis first attended the STLP state competition the last year um as a spectator in order to see what STLP was all about. This year she entered her first two competitions. These were showcase competition and the game design competition. During the introduction to computer networking class, Amber worked with Mr. Cake, her teacher, to develop a game in which students compete in teams in a process that simulated how computers, break down data into packets, send it across networks, deal with delays, validate the data, and receive and reassemble the data at the end of a process.
It's got to be pretty sharp to do all of that. Um, these concepts were t typically very technical and often very difficult to explain. Putting these concepts into a game format that that is interactive um, helps to overcome these challenges and presents these technical concepts in ways that are easier for everyone to understand. Amber presented this game idea at the SCP game design competition and was awarded first place. She's a first place state champion in game design. Congratulations to Amber and her teacher, Mr. McKay at Anderson County High School. We're very, very, very proud of her and the program. Again, hope everyone has a wonderful, restful, enjoyable, safe summer. Chairman, that's all I have this evening. >> Thank you. Uh, next up would be comments for visitors. Uh, we had no one sign up, so
um, next would be the 2728 calendar first reading. Yep. Good evening and thank you again for letting us convene to talk through committee or uh calendars. So we we try to do these things two years in advance to try to stay ahead and make sure that everybody has the ability to plan accordingly. Typically begin that conversation in January, work through February, March. this year, February, March was a little different. So, it was it was a whole lot to be quite honest. So, we paused that conversation and we're bringing it back to you today for a first reading. It was very purposeful why we did that. It was too much going on to talk at that time about those those things that are in front of you on the calendar. What you've got this evening is
a is a proposal to you from our calendar committee. uh first page is is the calendar that's being proposed itself and the following pages are the survey data that corresponds with how we got to the information that's in the calendar. There's two two real big pieces that we discussed in that survey that leaned back to two conversations that our calendar committee had. One was around potentially lengthening the school year by a day and taking away a break day in another part of the school year to have a full week at Thanksgiving. The data that's in that survey of those 307 responses there is pretty significant that folks in our in our survey pool really thought that was a good idea and and that was added into this calendar that's in front of you that you
see now. The second component that was what we would consider to be of survey quality was whether or not to to have one break around President's Day weekend or to split that into two. We've done that. We've done variations of that over the course of the last few years. The survey data came back to to to lend us to leave it all together. Uh and that's that's what's in front of you there. our survey, excuse me, our calendar is still based on the same premise that we've tried to do for the last 10 or so years. And that's to to begin somewhere after the 127 yard sales occur and then move forward with a similar structure of calendar that we'll have some breaks um in the spring to be able to use for absorbing snow
days. And that's no different uh than than what we've had in the past. The committee is asking that you consider this for a first reading approval this evening. And I'm I'm happy to answer any questions that may be related to the proposal that's in front of you. Thursday, we've we flip-flop back and forth. This this year coming up, it's actually going to be the same day. We'll start school on August the 12th. This year coming up on a Wednesday. The following year, it'll be on a Thursday. Pour out. There's no other questions. >> Second. Steve Carmichael >> with the first and second. Can I get a roll call vote, please? >> Yes, sir. All right, we are required to present this information three times a year. First one was the draft in January. This is the tenative in May and then the working is in September.
I've got to submit this to KDE by May the 30th and that's just the statute that says I'm supposed to do that. Uh there will be some changes to the timelines for this next year based on some updated legislation. Um but that's not in play yet. So here we are. You've seen this slide before. I use it for all the budgets that I presented so far uh in the time that I've been here. On the lefth hand side is all the information that it would be really great if we had to an exact uh to develop a budget. Really at no point do we have all that information, but we have some pretty good estimates. Uh right now I've got Mr. Harley's estimates on enrollment in AADA. So, I've got those two things. We have
our school staffing levels that are set based on the KDE requirements. I have an estimate of property assessments and an estimate of SEK funding, which also leads to an estimate of the local effort. That all comes from the forecast estimate that KDE puts out for SEEK. And then the bottom two, December one child count, that is an accurate number. That's what was counted on December one for special ed numbers. And then the retirement rates. Two pieces to that. You've heard me say this before. The folks who are retiring and will be replaced by more than likely someone who doesn't make as much money as them. And also the contribution rates that we'll have to contribute. And we know that the retirement contribution rate for KPPPA is going down next year. So that's the information we
have. So, kind of getting into it, looking at our revenues and expenditures for fiscal year 26 to 27, we are looking at a seek decrease of approximately $470,000. That's primarily due to an increase in the estimated property assessment and a decrease in anticipated AADA. So those two things together um overall led to what a seek decrease of about 470,000. The base number in red on your handout and the at risk number both have come down a little bit. The other five numbers in green are actually going up from what they were in fiscal year 26. Exceptional child, that's the December one child count. We have some additional kids identified. Transportation, it's not really going up, but it's no change, which really is a decrease. I guess I could have put that in red. Um, home
hospital increases $9,600. Limited English proficiency about $10,000 and the tier one uh increases about $74,000. So altogether it's a decrease, but there are some numbers that go up. Our property value on the forecast shows a 5% increase. Um, we've been 11 about four years ago to eight to about sevenish% increases on those property assessments. They're estimating about a 5% increase. For every $1 million that the property values go up, we see about a $3,000 decrease in the seek. Um, basically that means there's greater local effort that has to come into play. For fiscal year 26, our local effort is a little over $8 million. for fiscal year 27 from the seek forecast they're estimating that to be 8.4 million. So that's really your difference is your local effort is going up while your seed contribution
from the states coming down. Some good news though when you look at the property assessment that's tied to the uh three nickels that we have the equalization of those nickels actually increases. So, the state contribution to the building fund in blue on the bottom left there is going to increase about $300,000. And you've heard me talk about these capital funds request. That fund is getting more money than is needed to pay our debt service, which allows us to do those capital funds requests to cover a lot of our maintenance items that we've had to defer or that just haven't been able to be uh budgeted for. It also allows us to do bus purchases and replace equipment. So, there's quite a few things we can fit into those categories. And I've tried to do my
best to find every one of them that fits and draw as much money from one fund to the other u to try and take care of those expenses. So, moving along to the right side of the page there. I did include the same dollar figure for buses next year as we've got this year. Um, we haven't really finalized that yet, but it's in the budget to be there. Equipment replacement is the same number that's in the budget for this year as is next year. We actually have not spent that money this year yet. Um, Director Jury and I have talked through a couple things. He may ultimately decide uh that he wants to to try and make a purchase, but we haven't got there yet. So, that money is still in the budget, but has
not been spent. Both of those expenses would be replaced with a capital funds request. So, they're kind of offsetting of one another. the staffing levels. That's the that bottom picture is the exact same number I gave you when I did the salary schedules. I anticipated the difference from current to be about 1.28 million. It's going to be a little bit more than that when you see it um on the next couple of slides, but those staffing levels are what board approved and KDE approves that we need to have out there and it includes the 4% plus the step. So, those dollars are in there. Continuing along with revenues and expenditures, some investments. You guys will remember that previously uh at a meeting the school resource officers, we increased their dollar amount per hour, their pay.
I held that number at $148,000 coming out of the general fund. We are uh we do receive safe schools money from the state and we also receive $20,000 per campus from the state for SRO funding. So I don't anticipate needing to raise that number. I'd already bumped it up because I didn't know this year how much money we were going to get from the state. So I I just held it at the same number. Property and casualty insurance. We do not have all of our renewal information back yet. So I have not changed that number yet. I've talked to our agent multiple times over the last few months uh trying to get some indication and he said there's a couple of comp uh competitors in the market now that haven't been there because Liberty Mutual
is trying to kind of pull away from the the education world in Kentucky. So he thinks we might actually be maybe not flat on a renewal but fairly close. Um not as large of an increase as we have seen in the past years. So hopefully we don't have to change that number too awful much. We should have that all uh together for the June meeting. He was waiting on one more company to quote that. So I did not want to put any uh preliminary changes in there. In terms of athletics, I continued to leave a $20,000 line item for field maintenance. That's been in the last two budgets. I didn't change that number, but it's still an investment in our facilities and our fields. Probably the big kind of unknown uh for me is our
diesel and gasoline. Maybe not propane. After I talked to one of our propane suppliers, he said that market is a little bit more stable than the gasoline and diesel, but I did increase our budget for diesel and gasoline by $34,500. You can see that chart I made there at the bottom with the budgeted amounts for this is just diesel, by the way. I did not include gasoline. It's a much smaller number overall for us from 2021 to 2027 when I'm proposing. You can see uh those numbers kind of jump all over the place in terms of what we budgeted and what we actually spent. 23 was the high year at $253,000. Best I remember that was a big year for the cost of fuel as well. Uh just in general for everybody. So you can
see in 24 that was my first budget that I developed here. I shot the the diesel budget line up and then we only spent $156,100 because the price came back down, which is fine. I'd rather have more budget than spend less uh than being the other way off there. And then in 25, I dropped it down and we spent even less. And then in 26, I dropped it down some more and we spent 104,000 through April. Now, the price did jump up a little bit, so that number is going to be closer, but you can see why I did not dramatically increase that line because I've been overbudgeting already. Um, so we we've had some fluctuation, but we've also had the ability to stay within budget. So the three-year average is at $177,200 for what
we spent for diesel. I feel real good about budgeting at 225,000 and being safe. I really don't even think we'll spend that. I did some I just did some back of the napkin calculations. I think we'll be fine. Um, but even if we have even if we have to go up, uh, we'll be fine with that. So, that's all about diesel and gasoline. Uh, we use far less gasoline because we have primarily diesel, uh, vehicles, and I did up the gasoline just a little bit, but again, I've overbudgeted on that as well in the past couple years versus what we actually spent for propane. I talked to uh, Southern States provides our propane right now. He did not anticipate any dramatic changes in that, so I just left it alone. um at $40,000 is what
we have budgeted for propane. Some savings in the uh overall budget. You can see off on the right the CS contribution rate is going to go down by 1.19 uh from 18.62% to 17.43%. That's a good news thing, but you all know that can also jump back up in any given year. Uh it's been as high as 24%. Since I've been here, the nurses are at a 6040 split. We're paying the 40 and Cumberland family's paying the 60. That was a 50/50 split. And so this year, that saved us a considerable amount of money, about $30,000 off the top of my head. Contingency wise, oh, sorry, I skipped over workers comp insurance. Met with our uh insurance agent on workers comp. We do have a high year coming off from three years ago. So the
renewal he thought would be um just a balanced renewal very flat should be stabilizing out. So we should be good with workers comp not need any increases there. In terms of contingency fiscal year 23 we ended with about 5% 24 was about 8. 25 was about 12. I told you uh last month that I thought we'd be at about 4.55 I believe is what I was thinking. We're going to be closer to seven based on the numbers I've got right now. And um I'll talk through that a little bit. I'm sorry. Fiscal year 26 rebudgeted at 7. Fisc year 27 I've got at 6.22 6.22%. I originally thought it was going to be about 4 and a half. I'm a little higher than that because I had underestimated what I thought the seek amount was
going to be. I had us at about 12.3 million and the forecast has us at about 12.8. So I was able to just swoop that money over into the contingency line um and make that work out. Some other things that help bolster that contingency, um, fund transfers from Capital Outland building fund, the CFRs, bringing that money in, that helps us out covering some expenses, uh, that also frees up money for some raises. Obviously, um, the the contingency number can fluctuate depending on some of these costs that come in. If our fuel bid comes in ridiculously high or our insurance comes in crazy high or something with supplies that we purchase just goes off the charts, that could obviously change our contingency number when we get to the working amount. Um, it could also be more
depending on the tax rate that's set. I did not budget for a 4% tax rate. Um, but I would always advocate for that from a finance officer standpoint just because the more flexibility we have, the better in my opinion. But that's a totally different meeting. So, we'll talk about that another night. general fund revenues. You guys can see there, uh, revenues are projected to increase about a million dollars over fiscal year 26 budgeted amounts. I added some additional local revenue and an increased starting balance. So, the property tax line, you can see this year for fiscal year 26 budgeted at 105. I've bumped that up to 108. I think that's reasonable. uh motor vehicle and utility taxes. I bump both of those up a little bit, but you can see neither one of them are
budgeted higher than what we actually brought in in fiscal year 25. So, where we ended in 25, I'm budgeting below that still. Just trying to be conservative with our revenue estimates. Not unreasonable um to be doing that. Investment earnings, I've left that flat at $150,000 as well. You can see we made $380,000 on our savings in the previous audited amount. And I've just left 150 there because you never know what's going to happen with interest rates. So again, I'd rather be conservative on those amounts. Total revenue uh from local sources will be about 13.75 million versus about 13.4 this year. From state sources, you can see 13.2 from the state for our budget from fiscal year 26 and about 12.9 million for fiscal year 27. That is the seek and all the reimbursements that they
send us for various things. slight increase in the on behalf that was just to balance everything out on those numbers. Um then you can see inter fund transfer stayed the same that's the capital funds request um and some other transfers that come in for u indirect cost sale and cost compensating loss of assets about $5,000 and I do anticipate our beginning balance to be about 3.8 million could be larger. I'm working on that forecast. This is the first year I've used the spreadsheet that I'm trying to forecast it with. So, I I don't want to overshoot again. I always say that I don't want to shoot higher and and and actually have to come in lower. So, I think we'll be at about 3.8 million uh as versus 2.8 this year. So, you can see
in the pie chart there to the right about 33% of our funds will come from local money, 31.5% from the state, and about 22% from on behalf. And then there's some smaller amounts here that make up the rest. So again, we're putting more in locally when you're just looking at dollar dollar. Uh the on behalf does bump the state up quite a bit. So it's about 50%. Then terms of expenditures. Salary and benefits going from 15.5 million to 16.45. That's all from the uh step and 4% increase that was approved last month. It's about 5.6% overall. There were some targeted target targeted investments in the classified uh spots as well. So that's where that little bit of extra comes in over where I was originally shooting for, but it's fine. That's about right where I
thought we would be. So that's a a big chunk of money, but it's almost all going to our folks. And you can see the vast majority of our expenses go to instruction there to the right or some support of instruction. For the operational side of expenses, they're essentially flat. I didn't bump up a lot of those lines and I explained most of that to you. Um there is an increase in a couple of places and I'll talk through each one of those. Instructionally, you see actually a decrease from our budget from the middle column to the right column. That's really just due to a reduction in the SPDM allocations because of a reduction in student count. So that just comes down by nature of the the counting of of heads. Student support falls the same
thing. Um I dropped a couple of lines there for that. Instructional staff support stayed exactly the same. District administrative support stays exactly the same. School administrative support is exactly the same. Business support is up by $500. And then plant operations and transportation are where you see the two uh bigger increases and that is fuel related and supply related. Those are the two lines that bump up. That's where we um move those two extra costs to. But overall you can see that I'm budgeting at basically the same number for operations of 14.13 and it was 14.12 this year. So that's why I said they were pretty much flat. Contingency there is 2,396,000 is what I'm budgeting. That is about 6.22% and I thought we would be at about four and a half last month when I
was getting this together for the salary schedules and after I bumped up the seek we're at 6.22 22 questions. So far, the special revenue fund or fund two, the only changes I've made thus far are on the um frisk amounts because we do have that number this year already. And I took out the MAF grants because that is no longer a grant we have. And then I have bumped up the RTA grant that is continuing at three of our four schools. They went from 62,000 to 70,000. Other than that, there have not there has not been any information released on state grants thus far. I can tell you they're probably going to be basically what they were this year. Um there's not been any increases uh to them in about six years. And then federal
grant funding is going to be the biggest unknown for us. The title funds, who knows? I would love to say they're going to stay the same. I think there is some u some want from the legislative body in Washington to keep that and then maybe some push from the other direction at a different house there. So, however that shakes out is how that shakes out. But we are carrying over a little bit of money from this fiscal year to next fiscal year uh in case there is a reduction in those federal grants. And you've heard me talk about it before, those federal grants include our title one, our title two, our title four, our IDEIDA for preschool, and our IDEIDA for um kindergarten through 12. Those are substantial amounts of money. They support a lot
of positions in our district and a lot of students. Food service fund. The increases here um for staffing are based on the approved salary schedules. There is a reduction in the beginning balance there. The CACF and the summer food programs have been revenue generators in general. They're bringing in more money than they cost, but unfortunately everything that Miss Gritten buys costs more. I mean, that's just the nature of it. Um, she is working super super hard trying to get menus together that meet the needs of what the students have uh need and what they want needs and wants there so that we can increase our participation rate. because we increased participation, we increased reimbursement. Um, all of those things help them out. But basically, the increased costs have led to a a smaller carry for
balance for that account. So, that's something that Miss Kitten and I are working on um in hopes that she can kind of control some costs as much as possible to keep that uh fund balanced out. It is not at all in the red at this point. Uh but there you can see at the bottom of that uh that chart their fund balance has continued to kind of drop and some of that has been replacement of equipment in the past that we won't have to do. Uh but it is also just the nature of the business is tough uh to kind of keep your cost low but still get folks to eat your food and and do what you need to do to operate. Fund 52 is the daycare fund. We spent a lot of time
on this back in March. Um, personnel costs are all on this one now. There is no grant money for daycare anymore. There's no uh co money supporting that. You all did approve a tuition increase to start in August. I'm going to say I have likely underestimated the revenue for fiscal year 27, but again, I would rather underestimate and balance everything out than overestimate. Um, but looking at the actuals from fiscal year 25 and kind of how we're trending right this minute and knowing there's an increase coming. I did budget for some additional revenue, you can see over where we are, but it's not much over the audited fiscal year 25 numbers. So, that could be more, but I just want to watch this fund a little bit and see how that tracks based on the
tuition increases uh before I commit to any larger numbers there. Again, this one will be fine uh based on my projections. still going to end with about $175,000 to the positive capital outlay building and debt service funds. The changes here, capital outlay is $100 per student um for your AADA. So that's projected at 3,130 next year. So that's 313,000. That is a drop from 3,26 this year or 320,600. Building fund is actually an increase. um debt service remains the same at about 4.4 million. That's stable through 2029 that number is and then 2030 it drops down considerably. Um but nonetheless that fund um is showing really positive outcome there because even with the CFR pulling out for transfers out, we still have about a million two left over in that fund. And that's where you'll
hear me coming to you saying, "Can we do a CFR for this? Can we do a CFR for this? Can we do a CFR for this?" uh because that's where that money comes from. So I've already budgeted for about a million three to come out of there for various things, but there's another million two approximately that's left over. And then the debt service is just in out. Uh you got the federal uh rebate of 342,000 as long as that comes through. If not, we'll pay the full 4.4 million, but we're in fine shape to do so. And then to wrap it all up, that is the overall picture of every single one of those funds um with all of the information summarized in one sheet. I'll be happy to entertain any questions. I encourage you.

Two local banks responded. West Banko and First Financial uh the proposals were scored and First Financial was recommended based on the proposal evaluation score. The scores were within two points. >> Any questions? Mr. White can explain. Um, >> I I will say that I'm going to step out of this as >> Thank you. >> I have a conflict there. >> So, just real quickly, we got those those two uh proposals back. We currently are using First Financial as our uh banking institution. They were very very close on their uh rate of return and
their floor rate. There was a 0.05% 05% difference between their rate of return with West Banko having a little bit higher return. And then the floor rate was.3 with West Banko and 0.1 with First Financial. Do not think we'll be using those floor rates at all, but those were there. Um so I went through and and looked to see is there any differences between the two of them. Other than those things, um really there's not a ton of difference. We have been using First Financial and they have provided very good service. The difference in dollar amount for interest would be about $5,000 to maybe $6,000 for the entire year. The process of changing over banks on my side is not worth5 to $6,000 worth of potential interest, honestly. Um, and I scored First Financial two
points higher because they offer some additional services that they put in their proposal um, that we could potentially take advantage of. One would be remote deposit capture that they did not have in the West Banko proposal, which would keep us from having to run to the bank from here if we chose to use something like that. You can scan in your check images. Could potentially save some time. Doesn't mean we have to use it, but it is out there as an option. And the other thing they offered was uh, some rewards credit cards. We have a a card with Westbango currently that is used for various things. If we decided to switch over, we could possibly benefit from some rewards there. But ultimately, they were very similar and I I cannot fathom changing for such
a small amount of money based on the work that is required. We don't have so many different counts. Well, one of the requirements I put in there is that they're local so that we can go to the bank if we need to and make a deposit and we don't have to go to Frankfurt or Lexon or whatever. So, that that narrows it down pretty quickly here in town anyway. And then they also have to be able to capitalize about $16 million. So, if they can't pledge enough money or figure out how to do that because they're required to pledge uh based off of our highest balances. So, if they can't do that, that also may eliminate some banks in town that don't have that ability. So, that puts us down to a couple and they're

Assistant Superintendent Travis Harley. uh requesting uh permission to submit a non-traditional uh school plan and application for 2627 school year.
We talked a little bit earlier about our school calendar. The advent of NTI, non non-traditional instructional days in school year 2015 provided school districts the opportunity to offset some of those days in those times. While not everybody may agree with those, they do they do help us balance out quite a bit. Uh because as as many of you know, school in the summer is not that popular. So this this does provide us a good opportunity to levy instructional items for ch children to to utilize on school days that are not able to be attended to normally because of inclement weather and and other and other things that fit into the NI day package. This plan is developed. that's here. Mr. Murphy does a fantastic fantastic job of communicating uh with teachers on the the content
and the organization of that content to ensure that that everybody's exposed to to good content while they're out and have the ability to turn those in for credit. This plan is something that we've utilized here in Anderson County Schools since 2018 and it has worked quite well for us and and this year it's done its purpose as well so that we can actually school on somewhat of a scheduled end today. We did have to move our end time this year, but we only moved it by one day uh with the addition of making up those break days that were built into our calendar that we discussed earlier. So, the the recommendation would be that we would would ask for approval to submit this plan to to KDE so we can continue to have those 10
days uh with your approval and also the Kentucky Board of Education's approval for NI days as well. And I'm happy answering questions with >> motion to approve. Steve Carmichael >> second. Uh this creates a career and technical education pathway for high school students whose uh funds can contribute to the expenses. uh once the approved once the approved they will provide startup funding for the instructor uh to order uniforms and equipment to establish the unit. I would like to say um Mr. Harley and Mr. um Glass um worked very hard to try to find um cadet core replacement. As you all know, we've had cadet core in the past. It was very successful program for our students, very popular program. um we were unsuccessful in finding a replacement for that program. So we've been working really hard to try to find um a RO a junior ROC program and um this year we were uh very fortunate to have a meeting
with them. They came on site. They were very impressed with our site location program, our students. So, uh, we were, uh, very excited last week when we were offered a program and, um, I'll entertain any questions that you have regarding the MOA. Um, as you see, all the expectations are outlined in the MOA, including, um, funding, what it pays for, um, the instructors, as well as um expectations from students, the curriculum. Uh again, we're very excited to have this opportunity um for our students and um if approved tonight, we will start working toward enrollment for this program for the upcoming school year in the fall. Any questions that I can answer? >> I would just say as a Navy veteran, it's unfortunate that the Navy sponsoring this. However, the Air Force is a great choice.
Thank you, sir. >> And it's a great opportunity for young people. I know we try to cover a lot of bases and providing opportunities for young people to experience positive things in life. And I think military service is one of those things. And an ROC program is a great way to get your foot in the door to kind of see what that's like. So, that's a great opportunity for our kids. I'm excited that we're able to offer that. >> Thank you. One more thing I'd like to add that I failed to do so is it will also give us aerospace engineering pathway with opportunities for that as well. Also, we're very excited to have the program and very excited to have um the uh aerospace engineering opportunities as well for our student to continue those.
We already have some of those available, but it also gives us additional courses as well for those students. So, um big win for the program, but also an added bonus for the aerospace engineering piece. >> And I might as well say I have a brother-in-law who's involved in aerospace engineering and space travel and all that. Uh Anderson County
High School was offered an Air Force junior ROC program uh which includes two instructors. The request is to create two I'm guessing that's Air Force and Space Force uh junior ROC instructors. Uh one instructor and one enlisted uh to be paid on the pay scale. Uh these positions provide summer camp programs for students and the instructors are paid extended days. >> Um the um positions are requested the the funding is partially funded through the program. So it would be about the same cost that we have for uh cadet core. So wanted to make sure even though there's two instructors, they pay for 50% of it, which is really nice. Uh, principal Chris Glass is requesting approval to purchase high quality instructional resources as re required by KDE for
science, ELA, and math. Uh, extensive research has gone into the request and they are requesting a combination of online technology and two uh, class sets of textbooks. The online subscription included text and assignments. Uh the proposal request uh is for the outlined below uh with the cost and funding sources. The request from the general fund to pay $40,000 of the $146,724,000 uh with the remaining balance to come from carry forward funds, flex focus funds, and student fees. Their request is for two class sets of textbooks so that they can for the students who want those textbooks would have copies of them and the online version for everyone so everyone would have an opportunity for that. Um as you see um if you just look at the first one with science um and I want to
commend Anders County High School administration. working very hard to find the best highquality resources for the teachers as well as the students and they work very hard in order to do that and feel pretty confident that these are some of the best resources out there um for the amount of funding um that it costs. So, um you'll see um that they're asking for um which products they're asking for um the unit price um as well as the subtotal at the bottom. Then if you look at the next page, you'll see chemistry. So, they wanted biology as well as chemistry. Uh the reason for that is is because there are two separate courses um that are assessed um and they need um they do not come in one combined um resource. Um and then if you
look down at the next section you'll see mathematics they need algebra one as well as geometry. And lastly you'll see the mathematic or excuse me lastly you'll see the ELA. you look the purchasing options um you'll see the total cost um with two class sets and online subscription for all students and all subjects and then you'll see just the online subscriptions for all subjects. Um so you see the cost difference there for the two class sets of books for all three subjects. you'll see the breakdown in the amount of funding that they're using with flex focus carry forward student fees um for 2526 26 27 and then the request from the board um general fund is approximately $40,000 um in order to pay for all of this. The reason we're requesting early is to um
try to get all the books and um on site for next school year prior to the start of school as well as give the faculty an opportunity to review all the online as well as the textbooks. Um Mr. Glass isn't here this evening because the um high school baseball and softball girls are currently um playing right now. Um but Mr. quite worked very close with him on this request. Again, I do commend um the high school administration for working very hard to do their homework to try to find the best possible resources. They did apply for a grant um a math grant um that actually our elementary schools were fortunate enough to get, but the high school was not awarded that grant. That grant was approximately $40,000 that would have taken care of that general
fund request. Um, so, um, I wanted to let you know that they did try to also get a grant to help provide support for, um, this large sum request. Are there any questions that I can that I or Mr. White can answer? >> Are all these for three years? >> The online subscriptions are for the three years. Yes. Good question. >> Motion to approve.
