Mr. Brown, >> yes. >> Mr. Carmichael. >> Mr. Collins? >> Yes. >> Mr. Fentrez? Yes. >> Mr. Sergeant? Yes. >> Financial report? Good evening. For our financial report, overall revenue has increased by 17.6%. This is due to a larger beginning balance and an increase in receipts up approximately 12.6%. Uh that is a little bit skewed due to the inflation reduction act rebate that we received. Um but property tax revenue is up approximately 10%. Motor vehicle revenue is up about 4%. Utility tax revenue is down almost 10%. And our seek revenue shows an increase of about 4 and a.5% for the year. Expenditures for salary and benefits
are up 7.3%. That is reasonable based on the step and 4 and a.5% raise that was approved. Non- salary expenditures are up 4%. Um and I mentioned this last month, but several of the areas that I track are actually down from year to year. Uh but as I said last month as well, we have cost increases for insurance, software, um and one additional bus that we purchased this year that does increase the total overall. One other item I would note is the legislative session is going to be wrapping up soon. right now uh based on the proposed seek amounts and funding levels for seek transportation um we could potentially see a seek funding level at flat or a decrease for next year uh especially if our property assessments increase which is likely to happen. That's
something to consider as we approve salary schedules and set the budget for next year. Once the legislative budget is approved, I'll be able to give some better estimates for uh seek for next year. That is all I have this evening. Thank you. I'd >> like to welcome everyone to the uh March 16th board meeting. everyone who's here as well as everyone online. Um, we are three short weeks away from spring break, so it is quickly approaching. I know everyone is anxious to put this bad weather behind us. Hopefully move on with some really nice spring weather. Um, I have a very special recognition tonight. Um, this is an academic recognition and Mr. Glass, where's Mr. Glass? Thank you. Come on up here. A national merit finalist is a high achieving high school senior who advanced from
the semi-finalist stage placing them among the top 1% of the United excuse me of the United States students about 15,000 nationwide finalists are chosen based on their top PSAT andor their NMSQT scores an academic record at essay and a school recommendation they compete for scholarships and special recognition in in the spring to include full ride scholarships. Scholarship winners will be announced between April and July. We are so proud to announce that we have a national merit finalist from Anderson County High School, Mr. Jerry Chin. Please come forward. Let's give him a great big round of applause. Congratulations and best of luck to you. We're so proud of you and all that you've accomplished. U Mr. Glass, would you like to say a few words? >> So, as y'all know, I'm old and I've been the
principal for a while at Anderson County High School. I think this is year 13. Um I can tell you we've had a lot of semi- finalists in the day. Um, but Jerry is in um he's one of the rare ones because we've had a few finalists, but um they're far and few between. This is an exceptional honor. It it is one of the best academic honors you can have. Uh I know a lot of times you hear in sports they're a national merit finalist. Uh and we're hoping, as he said, well, I'm not guaranteed any money yet, Mr. Glass, but I guarantee you he should get some money. That's for that's what that's what I think. So just really really proud of him and all the academic work he's done at ACS. All right. Would
you like to say a few words about this process? >> You don't have to if you don't want to, but I thought I would ask. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Um, yeah, I do have to say, uh, the scholarship money is not guaranteed yet. Um, but I'm just proud to be a finalist here. As Mr. Glass said, um, there has been a lot of finalists. Um, so I'm glad to, uh, serve as, um, an example of academic excellence here in Anderson County High School. Thank you. >> Let's give him a big round of applause. Congratulations. >> Yeah, let's I'd like to invite our athletic director, uh, Mr. Syer. Um, he is, um, going to do our athletic recognitions. We have so many. We're so super proud of all of our student athletes that are here tonight.
So, Mr. Ser, >> um I've been told by multi many people to keep this short, so I'll do my I'll do my best. Um I want to first acknowledge we had two great wrestlers um that made it to state. Um one of which um finished fourth overall. Um Corbin Nance. I don't think Mr. N said that um he and his sons couldn't be here tonight, but I think it's important. Corbin won the 129 weight class last year for our first ever wrestler to win. Um and then Carson has been a state two times in a row. He's a sophomore, so every year he's been here. Um I know Anna Lee was an alternate and almost made it. And so, uh the wrestling program did great and I just wanted to make sure that we acknowledged
how great the wrestling program was. So, if we want to give the wrestlers round of applause. Um, next m next month I'll probably be doing archery. Um, they're not quite done yet, but they've had a great year also. So, we'll do archery once everybody's finished. But, I do want to talk about the girls and boys basketball teams. Um, last year I was here and we um we celebrated and we have more celebrations. Um, first I want to bring up um uh the um all district team. We had four members, five members. We had five members of the all district team. Yes. Um, so if you are an all district um um all district tournament team, if you could come up here. I know Andy's on. If you guys can come up here. Um, Andy and
Emily and Abby and Ellie and one more. Oh, and Anna's not here. Oh, no. Um, so these girls made the all district tournament team. Um, the tall one there was all district tournament MVP. And so if you want to give them a round of applause for making the all district tournament team. Um we also had three all region tournament team members um Andy and Ellie and um Emily. They also made the all region tournament team. So give them a round of applause for that. And then before we bring everybody else up, we also had Um, thank you. >> Y'all can hear me anyway, could you? >> They can. They can. >> Oh, I'm sorry. All right, that's fair. Um, and then two of these girls also made the all region team for their play for
the whole season. So, Emily and Ellie, um, if you want to wave, they made the off to the TV there. Um, they made the all region team, which is a huge honor. Um and then lastly, um but definitely most importantly, um our girls won their 11th straight district tournament. If the whole team can come up here to be recognized, please. So 11 in a row is quite a is quite a thing. And I know Ellie is a freshman. And so Ellie, how old are you? Are you 15? So they started winning him when Ellie was four. So they've won them every year since Ellie was four. Um, and that's quite a thing and that's I know it's something to be proud of. And these girls work hard and you see them in the gym, you
see them all over and they're not just great basketball players, they're also great kids. They're fun to have in class. They're easy to be around the school and they really are um they really are pride for us. So, um, if you can give the whole girls basketball team one more round of applause, please. Thank you very much. All right. Um, and now All right. And now let's do the boys team. Um, we had two members on the all district tournament team. Um, Coopa Welsh and Andrew Sparrow. If you guys want to come up here, give him a round of applause. Both had a great tournament. Um, and the season also was great. Um, I think the record was what you 24 and five or something like that. Was it 24 and six? Let's give the
boys basketball team round of applause. That's a heck of a season. 24 and six is something. Um, and then and obviously we wanted to point out that Andrew won the eighth region player of the year this year for the entire region and will be representing Anderson County in the Mr. Basketball selection on Sunday. So, let's give him a big round of applause. So, we had both. We had excellence in wrestling. We had excellence in girls basketball. We had excellence in boys basketball. Um, these guys make us proud. Um, I see coupe about 10 times a day. Um, and those girls over there get I give donuts about half the day. So, I want to take some credit for giving them as much bad food as possible. I made sure Andrew had plenty of donuts. So,
um, if you're looking for why we have success, it's not only their hard work, but also the amount of sugar that I provide them during the day. So, um, congratulations all the athletes. If you guys want to get a picture of Miss Williams, you get that and we'll make sure this goes up on to the website. We are proud, so proud. Anderson County has an incredible boys and girls basketball tradition. And this year, again, winning district, 24-6, all region, um, and region player of the year is one heck of a way uh, to finish the season for the girls and the boys. So, thank you and I couldn't be prouder. Next up is uh comments from visitors and we didn't have anyone sign up. So, um moving along would be the Anderson County High School
improvement plan. Mr. Chris Glass. Leave it to Ser to break the mic before I get to present. Well, I want to thank you guys for the opportunity to come and talk to you about Anderson County High School. Um, you saw just a little bit of what makes it great right there. Um, we have great kids. Uh, that's one of the reasons it's easy to do this job as long as I have. Um, Larry Barnett, who was my old principal back in the day, said, "You're going to beat my record." And I think I've surpassed him at this point in time. But I'm going to tell you, he was a great principal. And the reason he was is because he loved the kids and he was there for the families. Did that. And hopefully I do
the same thing. But, um, I'm going to share some of the, uh, things we're looking to improve upon as a school. And then at the end, I'll be honest with you, there's so many things in high school that goes on. I could probably sit up here and talk for two hours. I timed Corey. I'm trying to stay under him. Um, but I do want to point out some things that makes ACS a very special place. So, uh, and I'll be happy to answer any questions you guys have at the end. So, Anderson County High School. Actually, let me put the slideshow up here. Maybe I got my glasses on. Help me out there. Oh, I got to hit the editing button. There we go. >> Okay, sorry guys. Should put my glasses on before I
came up here, I guess. Um, this is the breakdown of our student body. We have 1,7 students this year. Uh 59 teachers. Uh we have a support team that is three counselors, a school psych psychologist, social worker, uh frisk, four administrators, fl five classified staff, five pareducators, a nurse, and an SRO. And on occasionally, we do have two SRO's as you guys know, we have the divided building. And I will say it is a team effort. Uh it can happen with everybody uh on that list. We have a great staff and they work extremely hard for our students, our kids, and our community. Just to give you a little idea of how um our scores are broken down at the state level, 45% of our state assessment is reading and math just like the majority
of the middle and and elementaryaries you see. But we do have a lot of other things that factor into ours because we do have graduation. We do have a post-secary readiness component and you see there that is 20%. um that is determined by a lot of factors uh which there's academic there is also um teched that can be brought into that as well workbased learning opportunities so there's a lot of ways that kids can earn post-secondary readiness opportunities uh and then again we also have uh science social studies and writing as a component that is 20% 6% is our graduation rate and 5% is our English learner prog progress and then 4% is our quality of school climate and safety. So that's just kind of a breakdown of how our scores are determined for this
year. Uh I'm going to hit on a couple to report proud to re let's try this. I am proud to report that at this time we are meeting all of those goals and really exceeding them in reading. Uh we are close to 10% actually novice in reading right now. uh and our proficient distinguished is over 60% currently. So we have ex we've really done well. Our teachers have worked extremely hard uh with our students on math and reading and I'm extremely excited about the opportunity and them to show what they can do on KSA testing. Two other goals that were very significant from us. Uh, one thing you know that's always hard at the high school level
