005so I decided I went over to the bus depot I've had my CDL for years and I didn't have the B endorsement so I went to Richmond and passed a test and went through all the training and after I saw what the pressure that those drivers are under I think they need some recognition they're under tremendous liability and pressure it affected my health I couldn't I couldn't get over it I mean I'm serious I just couldn't it's not my calling but I wanted to come and make awareness that that department really needs our support Miss Leanne she does a great job great job every day is something different and they hauled the most precious product we could ever have that's our kids and we need to recognize them they're more than just a bus driver
006they're professional bus drivers I did all the training I was that close of going to Georgetown getting my license but I just couldn't do it but they are in my prayers and they need our support so I'm asking can we do something to recognize them to show them appreciation for what they do because every day it's something different and you know how kids can be and you're trying to drive a bus with 60 or 70 kids and trying to pay attention with everything going on I think somehow we need to find recognition and I will do whatever I can to help to bring recognition to that department thank you for your time thank you Joe [Applause] teacher appreciation well do we have bus driver appreciation month we do okay all right I couldn't remember my
007mind is like I heard it's all leaving well if you could ever just get time just to stop in over and just tell them how much you appreciate them it goes a long way in that support of knowing they have support and people on their side um we nobody in this room has a clue to what they go through in a day I'm serious I only scratched the surface so whatever you can do it would be greatly appreciated thank you so much it's a bus driver appreciation well yes thank you thank you so much and thank you for allowing me to speak to you tonight yeah thank you sir next we have some technology awards that we're going to present this evening for our technology our outstanding technology leaders across our district and they are

009and administrators identified by their red suspenders the annual Stillwell Award winners represent the best of the best who show up daily in their tireless service to Kentucky schools and the high quality education technology service and supports that are required one of the U.S Army's most prestigious Awards is the meritorious award excuse me the meritorious service award the 2022 Bill Stillwell Stillwell award is also just just as distinctive for 2022 a unique version of the red suspenders award a meritorious medal in the form of a celebratory corn coin has been commissioned for presentation to critical K-12 education technology staff in all Kentucky K-12 school districts in the KDE Office of Education technology this distinctive coin signifies the individual success in meritorious Tour of Duty from March the 10th 2020 to March the 11th 2022 providing quality
010education technology service on and Beyond the school campus for K-12 students teachers staff and families throughout the 24-month corps of the pandemic the service provided the connection and students and families to their schools for the continuation of learning the student health supports therefore let it be known that the 2022 Stillwell award is being presented here on October 17 2022 to the education technology leaders in Anderson County Schools as a simple but sincere heartfelt way to say thank you for your accomplishments your dedication and your sacrifices over the 24 months as well as your continued present persistence toward excellence and is presented to the following we have some staff that are unable to be here tonight so I'm going to recognize all of them and we'll ask them all to come forward you're welcome to clap

013job helping to step up and ensure that we had good technology and everything working in our school so let's give them one more great big round of applause [Applause] thank you I just want to say the why you all are still up here I just want to say thank you the only reason I get one of these coins is because you all do all such a great job and you make me look good to get one of these but I appreciate everything you all do these are um some of the best people that you'll ever meet uh hard workers and just great people so thank you guys thank you Mr jury [Applause] last I have a public statement that I would like to issue I'm regarding the guidance excuse me that was provided at Anderson
014County High School by Anderson County High School staff there's been a lot of discussion over the last few weeks about guidance which was shared among High School staff regarding transgender students including a particular focus on the suggestion that employees were directed to keep secrets from parents missing from this discussion is the fact that all certified employees including teachers principals directors counselors Etc are governed by a Statewide ethics code one of the specific ethical duties to make re is to make reasonable effort to communicate to parents information which should be revealed in the interest of the student the standard serves as an umbrella over all guidance issued by KDE and any information distributed distributed at individual schools the city does not get repeated in every guidance document because this Duty always applies to certified employees in
015the performance of their duties there are similar ethical duties which are owed directly to students including respecting their constitutional rights of all students taking reasonable measures to protect the health safety and emotional well-being of students keeping in confidence information about students which has been obtained in the course of Professional Service and less disclosed Services professional purposes or is required by law and refraining from from subjecting excuse me subjecting students to embarrassment or disparagement the KDE guidance regarding transgender students should have been received by certified employees with all these ethical duties already in mind it is said it is a said truth that for some students the act of informing their parents that they are pregnant or gay or transgender might come at the expense of being kicked out of their house ostracized by their family
016or in rare instances they may be physically harmed our practice every time one of these situations has arisen is to discuss with the student whether their parents are already aware and whether they need support or assistance in informing their parents I don't want to keep secrets from parents nor do I ask staff to but more importantly I don't want to be the reason for a child being harmed because I was careless about the way I handled sensitive information the safety of the students remains our number one priority chairman that's all I have this evening all right we have them we have a very special from here tonight that's our state representatives thank you Mr Sergeant members the board Ms Mitchells always a pleasure to visit with you here at Anderson County in your school system
017I will I will let you know that last year the general assembly started a program here in Kentucky called principal for a day last year I was able to visit with Robert B Turner and spend the day over there and on November 4th I'll be at Anderson County High School with Mr glass serving as principal for a day so I'm looking forward to that opportunity to visit and learn more about school system and and just get a get a first-hand experience for that day uh I am well aware why a lot of people are here tonight I keep up with what's going on in the communities that I represent I had originally my purpose was I was just going to come and listen and I am going to listen to everybody who's here to speak
018tonight but I did have a separate subject that I wanted to address it's very timely and I think it's important to address with the board as well as the media and the public tomorrow October 18th actually at 1201 if you're up at 1201 tonight the Kentucky Department of Education will be releasing k-prep scores from last year now k-prep is is our state assessment it is mandated by federal law it's part of our assessment in accountability there are some changes on the accountability portion of that this year there's actually schools are going to be assessed uh it's kind of believe it's color-coded I believe Ms Mitchell this year is color coded about the the quality of the schools so that's going to be out there a couple of thoughts about k-prep assessments I do serve on
019the house education committee I have this is the sixth year so I we talk about these types of issues all the time and we have really looked at do we need to reevaluate our assessment and accountability how we evaluate that here in the state of Kentucky uh one of the things that I believe would be a better guideline would be more of the formative test I believe you all use maps here in Anderson County and what that does it evaluates a student at the beginning of the year and does a additional tests throughout the year to evaluate the progress as students made but unfortunately I believe federal law does not allow us to use those formative tests and our assessments accountability and so they're coming out remember this is post covet I I want to
020thank you here in Anderson County for the work you did in keeping your schools open during copen you had in-person schools and I think that's going to benefit you and just so you know I have no idea I have no I have no inside information on these test scores are going to be coming out at 1201 but it's it's a one-time snapshot and we all want continual improvement over schools we all want continual and Improvement for our students and this is important data for for you as a school system school board members to evaluate for teachers Ms Mitchell for the principals for parents parents need to be looking at this people in the public to see where we are but remember this is a one-time snapshot and I truly believe that post covert this is
021going to be a Baseline where we are post covet and then the important thing is is how can you as Anderson County how can all of our school systems take this data and try to approve the education quality for all of our students I truly believe that every child deserves an opportunity to a quality education it's going to allow them to succeed in life and I think that's what we all want for our students so I know that with social media there's a lot been a lot of talk about public education the last few years I know that but the most important thing is and I'm glad that there's a large crowd here tonight because it we need public involvement we need parents we need members of the public here asking questions sharing their ideas
022sharing their thoughts and I welcome any input that you all have or any uh my constituents here in Anderson County have I look forward to hearing from that I will be listening very intently to the rest of the conversations tonight because I know some people here has some things that they weren't sure at the board and I'll take I'll take all that to heart as we go forward to hopefully the 23 session thank you all and it's pleasure to be here tonight thank you all right board members we have another special guest here tonight to speak and that's uh Michael Manning are you here you sign you want to come right here thank you I'm here to speak toward the Anderson County pronoun guidance that has left one of our teachers at home under suspension
023I'll leave the specific guidance to others that are here to speak to but I'll use my three minutes to speak and to share with some of the things I've learned today I emailed my board member representative Mr Collins a few questions about the guidance on October 4th no response from him superintendent Mitchell thank you by the way responded saying that board members had been advised not to comment until they spoke with legal counsel and that they could respond after fall break that's today I emailed Mr Collins again this morning for a response nothing from him I did receive a response from superintendent Mitchell a couple hours ago thank you again Mr Collins who do you represent appear to be me in response the response from superintendent Mitchell I learned a few things the Anderson County
024Guidance was not given to the board because it's considered aspects of day-to-day operations since it was not presented to the board they have no official response in favor or against the guidance parental communication was absent from the guidance because it's understood per Professional Standards and I quote that they are to make reasonable effort to communicate to parents information which should be revealed in the interest of the student conversations with my children concerning gender identity without my knowledge is unacceptable schools do not determine what is in the interest of my children I do you all mind to let him speak so we can get to each person thank you I also learned that parents are not informed because it's not official guidance seemed pretty official per superintendent Mitchell's Facebook post on the 26th regarding the teacher
025who has been suspended who couldn't attend waking Anderson because it was on school grounds because he's suspended he can't be here tonight because he's suspended from that post Anderson County school advises employees to be professional respectful to students and are providing them with relevant guidance handed down from the Kentucky Department of Education it is important for staff members to understand the possible legal ramifications if they choose not to stray or if they choose to stray outside of this guidance seems pretty official even the abhorrent KDE guidance reference limited parental communication something completely absent from the guidance given to our staff and our teachers this is unacceptable I have three children in the public school system one in elementary middle and high school so I'm fully invested financially as a taxpayer emotionally as a father a
026discontent and growing anger is toward the process the policies that continue to marginalize parental rights and supplant home values with a system that does not represent families or the overwhelming community is policy be reviewed revoked revised next on the list is our special guest Julie Milburn excuse me first of all I didn't know I was going to have to follow him or I would have not signed up but anyway um I am Julie Milburn I have lived in Anderson County all my life I've taught in Anderson County school system for 28 years this is my home and I love my school I don't always agree with everything that's done I didn't always agree with things that were done when I was teaching I also did not feel like I had the ability to be able
027to speak out because I was a teacher but I'm retired now and I feel like I have a right and a responsibility not just to myself but to the kids of Anderson County I love every kid that I've had did I get along with all of them no did I call them what they wanted to be called No some of them come in I want to be called Bubba well no that's not your legal name on the papers that were given from the office and we were told that the name that we were given on the IC report is what they were to be called so that's one issue that should be taken care of if it's on IC that they're a male then they're male but that that's neither here nor there we we
028as a school we as a state are asking our teachers to do more and more we have a plate or they have a plate and they say put this on we need you to do this put this on we need you to do this but they never tell us to take anything off and they can't do it all they can't be mama they can't be teacher they can't be caretaker but that's what our responsibilities are as a teacher we as a school we as a county have to support our teachers state law says that a student until they're 18 their parents have the rights they have the right to see the all of the records up until they're 18. so after 18 if they want to change their gender or they change their name that's
029fine if they want to do it before then if they have their parents permission then their parents can see that that's done but I just commend you to continue to watch out for our teachers because they're getting it from all sides and you're here for them you're here for us but if the teachers do not have the support of the school system our school system will fall apart thank you [Applause] oh I'm sorry I'm sorry I I missed over top of the next special guest I didn't do it intentionally uh typed in the rest of the names was written in and I didn't catch it but anyway our next special guest is David Walsh I didn't I apologize I don't know if I go so far to say special I appreciate absolutely appreciate it well
030good evening members of the Anderson County School Board I'm David walls executive director of The Family Foundation we're a Christian public policy organization that stands for Kentucky families and the biblical values that make them strong appreciate the opportunity to speak on this concerning lgbtqi toolkit and preferred pronoun guidance that is circulating across Kentucky and our Public Schools including here in Anderson County before the start of this school year Governor Andy beshears Department of Education announced an lgbtqi toolkit that promotes radical transgender and sexual ideology like this gingerbread person um here to Children it encourages engagement with LGBT political organizations and it threatens parental rights let's be clear children cannot change their biological sex and should not be encouraged to do so that is the reality plain and simple regardless of what Advocates say regardless of
031the attempted coercion of the Kentucky Department of Education and any societal pressures this guidance has one overarching goal promoting the lgbtq worldview and gender confusion through indoctrination and intimidation to ensure it is accomplished the tone in the intent of the guidance is to ensure parents are kept in the dark as much as possible this guidance is not only wrong but it's harmful it's a divisive policy crafted to tear communities apart by placing a wedge between schools parents and their children the guidance seeks to compel ideological Conformity of teachers and staff putting them in the position to potentially violating their free speech in religious liberty rights while also deceiving parents about what is happening at school Anderson County schools in every school district across Kentucky should flatly reject this guidance but rather than stand up for
032parents and children within the schools and rejecting this dangerous Guidance the school here is punished a brave staff member who simply tried to raise concerns about the harm that such a radical agenda could pose on the district's students and parents many folks are here tonight because the wrong choice was made the sacred trust that parents place in their school district has been broken and is broken when radical ideologies are adopted that harm children and have no place in our schools on behalf of our supporters here in Anderson County and in every County across the Commonwealth we're here to say enough is enough reject these rat this radical agenda and push back we urge you to not only reject the guidance but also to join us in demanding that the Bashir Administration and the KDE immediately
033rescind this guidance across the state let's get back to teaching our children a well-rounded education not pushing a woke agenda that is harmful to our students parents in schools thank you for the opportunity to speak tonight thank you for your service to the kids and families here in Anderson County God bless our next special guest is Miss Cherry Carter good evening so what have we got we've got teacher Randy Adams who started weeks of chaos with a Manifesto about god-given rights not to follow Kentucky State guidelines we've got Senator Southworth and the school board Vice chair who attended Mr Adams meeting at Sand Spring Church I assume in support of the teacher's refusal to follow these guidelines the same school board Vice chair who once compared coveted Mass to wearing underwear on your face we've
034got the lady who often comes to these meetings who wants to ban books and we've got what I keep hearing is the great litter box conspiracy in case you don't know the litter box lie stems from a tragedy a Colorado School District provides small amounts of litter in what they call a go bucket in case kids who are locked down for hours during a mass shooting will have somewhere to go their supply is also their supplies also include candy for diabetic students a map of the school flashlights wet wipes and a first aid kit in case someone gets shot we've got people running for this school board who don't often seem to not even believe in public education this I don't understand we've got a powerful local Pastor who regularly denigrates the lgbtq community including
035kids how cruel and tries to influence this public school board we've got a school board who often seemingly works for the superintendent when it is supposed to be the other way around we've got teachers who do not feel that they can attend their own school board meetings because they are afraid the superintendent will go on a mission to find out why they were here we've got a superintendent who anytime a difficult topic comes up has a reputation of hiding behind the board attorney and finally what we've really got here are vulnerable kids and vulnerable families who rightfully feel targeted by some of the most powerful people in this town this is disgraceful what we've got is a huge mess because what we do not seem to have is courage thank you thank you all right
036next is our special guest uh Margaret Raymond hello my name is Margaret Raymond and I didn't prepare a speech but I'm gonna wing it because I care about our children God made man and woman he did not make two men together he did not make two women together if he did none of us would be here today uh when I was young younger when I was in my 20s I took college classes I took one college class was called abnormal psychology now of course you can tell I'm not a young lady this was probably about 50 years ago but people have not changed over the centuries God made us just the way he made the first people and when I took abnormal psychology homosexuality transgenderism lesbian a person who's a lesbian they were all considered
037having had mental disorders now I truly believe in my heart that most people who do not say they're they're just a straight person have had mental issues maybe maybe a family member raped him and then they wanted to be that sex or the opposite sex but a lot of the people who claim to be I can't remember all the initials LGB I had my hand out and I don't I hinted it out already but the people who claim to not be straight I think they have emotional issues and I don't think we're being kind and good Christians to say that it's okay the way they are um like I said I didn't prepare a speech but when I was in my mid-60s um I had abnormal bleeding in my personal area and that wasn't normal
038okay so I was thankful that God gave me that hint that there's something wrong I went to the doctor and I found out I had uterine cancer now people who have problems if if you don't address those problems as problems and not say that it's normal they won't get the help they need people who have deviant Lifestyles which that's what it was called when I was taking psychology many years ago that they need help and the people who say they're okay they're not going to get the help and they're also not going to know that they're Sinners every one of us in this room are sinners in different ways and most people can detect somebody who's a liar or thief or somebody who kills but a lot of the people in this room don't realize
039that uh immoral behavior is a sin also and I want to address that and I want to plead with the board to to make a good moral decision about the pronouns with he and she and they and them when God made us he made us a he or she he didn't make us an it or are they or them now I recently found out I'm only second generation American my one of my grandmothers came from England so I don't know why but I never knew my grandmother but it was always in my heart I wanted to speak correct English and before coming here the original writer of our American dictionary Webster he did not use it for a person he said it was used for anything but that it was not used for a male
040or a female oh a man or a woman it was for a thing the table it is holding my hand up the screen is it is something you can look at it is a plan a program it is not a person and a person is not a they or them they and them in the original Webster dictionary was for two or more people so I I beseech you if you if you don't want to confuse our children don't encourage them to call themselves an ID or they are them and it also is I think a sin against uh for our God our creator to demean ourselves in calling ourselves an it we are not in it we're very special we were made in God's image and he loves us very much and everyone who in
041this room says they're not straight they're lesbian or gay or transgender they need help and I want to just tell everyone who is in that situation I love them Jesus loves them and most people who are true Christians love them but but what their lifestyle is is a sin and it's against God and we shouldn't encourage our children to follow in those um immoral footsteps I love the Lord with all my heart I'm a born-again Christian and I pray that if there's anyone in this room and I'm sure there's more than one who does not know Jesus as his Lord and Savior will repent of whatever sins they have and there are different kinds of sins everybody's a sinner but by by saying that all these different kind of lifestyles are right instead of being
042loving towards the people who have these emotional um you know confusion instead of being caring towards them we're not if we say it's okay because they won't know they're sinning and they won't they won't know they that they need Jesus as Lord and savior people need to Lord and I love the Lord and I know there's a lot of Christians in this room and if you agree with me please applaud all right our next special guest is Daniel and you'll please forgive me because you're going to have to help me uh pronounce your last name or something okay all right you're not speaking all right thank you we'll move right on down the list in uh next special guest is Marsha McDonald uh oh okay all right I'll mark you off thank you all right
043thank you all right next special guest is Catherine Jackson oh okay okay I'm sorry I I couldn't hear you I'm apologize all right next special guest is Kathy crass hey everybody my name is Kathy krask and I am originally from Lawrenceburg and went to Anderson County schools and I now live in Merson County but I have two grandchildren that are in Anderson County Schools my youngest granddaughter a few years ago was um she was having a hard time with her math and she we would try to tell her two and two was four that's pretty concrete and she would say well four or five yeah it's kind of like that it's something like that we had a really hard time convincing her that two plus two was four there was nothing else to it so
044I didn't get mad at her for not understanding that because I realized she's a child and she didn't know but I think that I would not have been a very good grandparent or the teachers in the school system would not have been very good if my granddaughter graduated high school and still thought two plus two was four I mean was five so I say that to say she was a child and she didn't know and I think the children that are in schools their children they're easily confused they're easily confused by the time that we live in there's a lot to be confused about they start having hormones they don't know what to do with them they feel awkward feel inadequate sometimes feel tomboyish maybe a boy feels more feminine and I get that they
045can be very confused about this but I think the truth is just like two plus two is not five it is four and I don't think that a girl can be a boy I don't think a boy can be a girl no matter what they do no matter what surgeries they have no matter what they do it's an impossibility and I think that we are doing them a disservice we're not telling them the truth if we go along with that and they are children and they need to be told the truth in love I don't think anyone should ever be mistreated everybody has as much right I think they should be loved I didn't get mad at my granddaughter when she didn't understand what two plus two was but I think that truth in love
046needs to be told because I think we are doing them a disservice if they are not told the truth and I think the only way that we are going to be happy is to be what we are it is awesome to be a guy but it is also awesome to be a girl and I am glad to be a girl and I don't think there's anything wrong with me telling my grandson do you realize what an awesome thing it is for you to be a little boy do you realize what it means to be a man and I don't think there's anything wrong with me telling my granddaughter it is awesome it's an awesome thing to be a girl and you should be proud of that you are exactly nothing needs to be changed we
047don't need to be changed so I just want to encourage you all that if there is any other way to besides the guidelines that have come down there's any other way that we can handle this and I appreciate what you do and I appreciate our teachers that are and our bus drivers and all those that deal with our kids I truly do and I know that you do too but if there is any way around going along with this I would just like to ask you to consider it the next special guest to speak tonight is Sharon Mitchell all right what's your name all right next special guest to speak tonight is Holly Hawkins ah good evening my name is Holly Hawkins I live here in Lawrenceburg with my husband and our two children ages
048eight and ten who attend public school here in Lawrenceburg um parents should know their children I know my children we have a home where our children can have opinions they ask really tough questions and they can be themselves we want them to feel comfortable and respected and safe in their home I'm glad the KDA guidelines provide that to our children while they're at school those guidelines also give guidance to the school staff on how to help the students who may have gender identity issues or just questions the school can provide appropriate staff for students to speak with such as counselors or mental health professionals they can talk to the students about all the difficult things that they might have to deal with regarding chosen pronouns they can provide support to the students as needed this
049may be monitoring and dealing with bullying that these kids are experiencing they can help provide a safe space for students to speak with their parents about the things they're going through and above all the guidelines provide staff with the ability to address each student individually and take into consideration their specific situation no two people are exactly alike and I don't think we want two people to be exactly alike everyone has a right to their own religious beliefs and opinions this is America right that's what's so great about it a public education policy must be evidence-based to serve all students not just Christian not just Muslim not just atheists it's here to serve everybody there are so many organizations that affirm gender identity issues such as appropriate pronoun usage these include the American Academy of Child
050and Adolescent psychology the Ameri American Psychiatric association American Academy of Pediatrics American Psychological Association American Medical Association we are talking about nearly half a million members they are the experts they know their patience personally their knowledge is based on science and facts not just their opinions or their personal beliefs did you know that nearly half of lgbtq Youth have seriously considered suicide just in this past year not over the course of their life in this past year half of them have considered killing themselves this can be prevented simply by having supportive families and communities and schools no parent should have to bury their child over a preventable death and these deaths can be prevented I know my kids and I know my kids friends and some of them can't or won't talk to their own
051parents about these personal issues even at the age of 10 they can't talk to their mom and dad because they're scared School must be a safe place for them the school must provide the education these children need us parents must provide the parenting they need together together we must provide the community that the children need lives are at stake period thank you all right our next guest speaker on the list is Mr Marty Terrell foreign hello everybody first name is Marty m-a-r-t-y last name is Terry t-e-r-r-y in case this is being recorded inspectors out here at the risk of being classified as a domestic terrorists I'm gonna read two pages good evening my name is Marty Terry and I'm a hard-working taxpayer that votes every single time half my property taxes go to the school
052system well we can't do much about the individual currently in the white house or the person in the governor's mansion in Frankfort we should be able to do something about this school district is this the Anderson County School District or is it just a local chapter of the federal or state schools this school system sure is willing to take our tax dollars yet we can't get a clear answer to various questions as the son of a former chairman of the school board and a retired teacher as my mother I do understand that the school district has great expenses and that there are many buildings of many responsibilities but please don't insult my intelligence by claiming that the tax increases are always for the children while the nicest neighborhoods in the community are filled with active
053and retired School administrators teachers and government workers now we're faced with secret policies that keep the parents in the dark children are being protected by their elders as they are children many children are confused about many things that they do not need to be indoctrinated and or groomed by some in power the KDE is nothing but a political organization and anyone that doesn't believe me should drive by the headquarters like I did today and look at all the campaign signs hanging from the banishers out front you all should not take your marching orders from them I know it's where the money comes from they steal it from us and if we don't pay the taxes they send guys with guns to get our money and take our property we pay to them they redistribute it
054out that's how thiefdom works if a child gets into disciplinary trouble the school will rightfully contact the parents as they need to know however in a situation involving the woke lgtbq or sycsd plus or minus movement and the gender confusion issue the parents are not allowed to be informed parents need to be made aware of issues that involve their children potentially heading down a path that could lead to puberty blockers cast duration as a minor and full hysterectomy is this a child you're talking about suicide later on in depression well Sally got you know got a hysterectomy at age 14. thought she was Aquaman the year before and I said you know these are our children and they are not the property of the state you all answer to We the People and ultimately you
055answer to God Almighty and woe unto those that call evil good and good evil thank you [Applause] next special speaker is Petra Gonzalez good evening I sat down today to find the words for what I was going to say I went from Rage to humor at the laughability of this whole situation how fragile are your personal beliefs that you feel threatened on what pronouns a teenager chooses aren't the teenage years a time of exploration and a time of our young people to discover who they are the adults are playing stupid games with idiotic myths and right-wing conservative rhetoric do you really think there are children defecating in litter boxes I can assure you that if that was the case the entire County would know within the hour that's all the kids would be talking about
056do you think where kids really choose to change their gender to confuse and Boggle your mind and religion this quote issue is just another CRT where the Fox News propaganda is rallying up their base I come here first and foremost as a parent with an actual child in the school system my child is pretty independent and she's her own Advocate I take pride in that and I tell her all the time whenever you start to date whomever you decide to bring home and introduces your partner will be fine with me as long as they respect you and love you I add with no caveats it can be a girl boy they them I don't care she has come home many times telling me that there are kids in her class that are gay and are
057afraid to tell their parents every year she comes home and says well so and so still isn't out to their family even today I asked her is so and so not out nope and she read this that I'm reading to you all by the way and she approved and I tell her just be supportive and be there for them because if we're completely honest there are a lot of places in this community churches especially we're gay being gay is thought to be a sin I'm here to tell you God doesn't make any mistakes at least not my Christian God I add to this school is a safe place I know in my experience my teachers were often my counselors my Advocates and my protectors I can imagine the same for lgbtqia students I sent the
058following email to the board and I'm going to read it here and I did get a response from Jason who's my representative and I appreciate that I want to say first that I applaud the quick response from the superintendent and I'm assured that the best interests of all parties students parents and staff is being taken into consideration and that students are being protected from those who have homophobic transphobic and bigoted ideals I'm just concerned how way however in the way that certain board members have made public Facebook posts stating that they agree with this person's beliefs and opinions Peggy Peach's job as a school board member is to look out for interest of all her constituents regardless of their religion sexual orientation Etc I don't need to State the obvious but for her to make
059it known publicly that she is in support of being transphobic is unsettling how can she call herself an advocate of public education and want to impose her religious beliefs and opinions on the community that seems like a conflict of interest and perhaps she should not be a public figure if she cannot represent the community as a whole it is also against the civil rights of students I am also disconcerted at the fact that at the meeting a teacher Brittany Baxter made public commentary about how she humiliated a transgender student then she went on to brag about the fact that she quote avoided referring to the student in their preferred pronoun and chosen name she had failed the student and not affirming the gender and pronoun choice and failed as a teacher in her passive aggressive
060way of mistreating that student furthermore for her to make public commentary about the treatment of the you made the public commentary first he's got the recording you've got the recording she has got the recording you shouldn't make public commentary if you don't want it to be public knowledge hey we can't have we can't have the discussion back and forth furthermore for her to make public commentary about the treatment of the student is appalling and disgusting I would not want an educator singling out any student regardless of their identity and I feel that such Behavior must be investigated public teachers are not paid to impose their religious beliefs and are not paid public funds to adhere to their own agenda I know you all are dealing with a lot given the political climate it's a delicate
061balance I'm grateful for the most part for the work the school system is doing and despite my own issues with it I know that my daughter is in good hands and I'm glad to have chosen this County and public school system for her to grow in what I will not allow is any student to be mistreated and made to feel less than and if you can't work for the good of all students then the public school system is not a place you should be working in I hope that these issues will be addressed if I want my daughter to learn Christian teachings I take her to church every Sunday with the suicide rate for lgbtqia students what it is I am glad that KDE issued guidance and I hope that the high school continues to
062adhere to that guidance I applaud the high school counselors as well as the teachers who adhere to the best practices of this guidance if one student can be saved by affirming their identity then the goal has been achieved I would ask that the school board investigate the treatment in both Mr Adams classes and Miss Baxter's I hope that the board takes this issue seriously and that they abide by their ethical guidance as public school board Representatives thank you all right thank you all right our next special guest speakers Miss Molly Tuckett all right well thank you I would like to say a little something before we we're done with the guest speakers I just I want to share a little story with you all you know I grew up in Frankfurt and I basically didn't
063have much of a family you know I lived on the streets I came to Anderson County when I was 23. I moved beside Mr James Terry Marty Terry's father I come home one night my house burnt down and I had a three-year-old child with nothing no insurance and nothing I went back to Frankfurt and moved in with my father-in-law with nothing and I never will forget the kindness that the Anderson County people done to me Mr Terry came to where I worked he knocked he came knocked on the door and he said Sarge when you coming back home I said well I don't have a home he said you always have a home in Anderson County come back home we miss you I came back here the people out in the out there at uh
064I can't even remember they helped me they said they helped me get a start back in life and I've never forgotten the kindness in this community I want to thank you all for coming here tonight you know you're always welcome God bless you all right we'll move into the to the agenda you're welcome to stay or whatever you all like to do all right another one with the comments was early graduation Chris consideration approved early graduations requests oh okay foreign mm-hmm urray but oh okay you're kidding me oh I I know oh you're oh you're the one that keeps Bob in line I always heard Ricky Garnet told me once Sarge if you ever want anything done go to Kathy she's the boss oh okay yeah it's been nice it's been a while I have
065met you but it's been a while all right I'm going to rock roll on through this all right I'm gonna I'm gonna speed on through this agenda all right early graduation uh request consideration approved early graduation press you all had the early graduation quest in front of you uh would you all please can I get a motion to accept them please motion to approve early graduation requests Scott Brown Rose Morgan we got to say it all in favor aye you need a polls uh motion carries next bus purchase consideration approved the purchase of three buses for transportation department Mr Travis Harley sir thank you the request is put into to make a purchase of three conventional uh 70 passenger vehicles to add to the fleet we we got some information last week that I believe
066that may be of interest to you we have the ability to participate in a clean diesel program that would allow the swap of three vehicles that are meeting a particular requirement exchange for purchase of three new ones and we could potentially be approved for up to 25 off of that purchase right so there's there's no action to be taken on that particular request this evening just giving you that information that's something that we will be pursuing it's very similar to what we had with the clean propane a few years back very similar opportunity that's in front of us on that proposal to you this evening is to make a purchase of three diesel International buses for this purchase cycle this particular school year excuse me these three vehicles if purchased would go into the fleet
067and would meet the requirements of replacing vehicles that are older than 2009 and would also meet the new emission requirements that would help us with that particular purchase but also add into our our Fleet that is older we currently have 17 buses that we run daily that are outside of the 15-year depreciation this would be that one step more toward getting a little bit closer to balancing that out that's the proposal that's to you this evening I'm happy to answer any questions that are there in front of you with regards the older that you have the differences that you see there are so a little bit surprising at first we thought the propane the propane prices would be cheaper that's exactly the opposite of what we found out we started doing some digging about seven
068thousand dollars difference per bus uh for the bus I do need to add into the fleet and what we're finding out is we're saving some fuel money but we're also having to wait for Phil to come in we ran into some some opportunities that that dried up as far as having propane on our own lot what sounded like a very good thing a couple years ago now sounds to be something that they may choose not to do in the short term as far as putting a propane tank on our life we've had some some feeling issues with propane that's why the recommendation is to stay with the diesel so that's one one question I have go ahead that's just information that we wanted to make sure right all the purchases there um so there is
069a shortage that was one of the questions I was so the shortage that we're running it the supply chain issues and the issues that we've had with obtaining the buses that we've even purchased last year originally began with supply chain issues with the propane engine that's what we were notified of at the end of the day there's there's supply chain issues period right now what we're experiencing is fueling shortages as far as fuel being timely for our vehicles to be refilled because there's not a propane tank on site okay that's the that's the issue that we're running into right now we fill those things three times per week the diesel bus that I drive twice per uh twice per day five days a week is filled once so it's it's quite a bit of a
070difference as far as fueling goes and we're experiencing that right now and we have both diesel here say that again we do have bulk we do we have two tanks yes that's correct yeah and the propane vehicles have have large benefits that are there but currently um we're still experiencing some of the hiccups as far as the infrastructure itself with regards to fueling it's not as easy as it may be in a few years and that may change our yearly purchase currently right now where our site is at I'm pretty sure that we have little to no interest of a company putting a fuel tank there at this point in time that's kind of what we're going with we've been out we've measured it we've talked through the process of having that prot that propane
071tank placed there we still don't have a propane tank and that was one of the drivers when we voted for yeah we didn't have them ready either yeah so yeah and that you know there are three excellent buses that are outstanding but at this time the recommendation for Miss Conway is to move forward with the diesel purchase it will save us initially just right off the bat on the purchase if we receive no discount of 21 000 off the top without any discount we are not eligible for any discount at this time with regards to the propane this this uh um reference I'm making is to a clean diesel and that's up to a 25 are we being given any kind of time frame of delivery yeah uh this month our our buses are supposedly
072at Bluegrass International right now that's what we've been told um so you know they're they're three and a half four months behind delivery we should have had those on the road in August um we usually get those in May so I mean you can even push that back a little bit farther as far as delivery time goes only question I have is you're asking for three buses but is that going to get us where we need to be if we do three best every year no no it won't uh it won't um you know the the largest number of vehicles that we have in the fleet are 2006 and 2007 International Vehicles they're also the best vehicles we've got they have high mileage but they also show up every day and very kids safely so
073the answer is no it's not going to get us there you know five buses we would have to do some numbers we really need to look at what our long-term plan is as far as fueling goes I feel like a permanent fueling station for propane is necessary because I feel like there's still some dividends to be from that particular line of vehicles they're great buses to drive they heat on demand they're quiet kids can carry on conversations lots of perks to it right now I can't make that recommendation today because we're struggling to fuel but it is you know that's that's really the difference so you know as far as looking at numbers of how many vehicles we you know would purchase over the course of let's say five years we really need to do
074a numbers crunch on it to say this will get us out of that that cycle of depreciation where we've got buses on the road that are beyond that to answer the question we're sure the state says 10 years is is a average life of a bus we got 50 buses so we need to be on a five five bus program per year to get there I don't do it I don't disagree with that uh but at the same time being good stewards of our of our local money if we've got good vehicles that are running and they're safe then I say we drive them and you know there's that's gonna make sure your kids are safe yeah they're you know they're there's they're super vehicles uh they really are like I said 2006 and 2007
075are the majority of the fleet um in that year range and they're solid they're very solid I understand that I got 10 trucks and the newest ones 2005. I make a motion we approve uh to pay request of the three buses International 72 passenger Diesel with add-ons it 120 000 255 dollars each Scott Brown I second Peggy Peach I think Miss Conway she she knows what's going on out there Mr Harley I think we need to listen to what they're saying about these buses and maybe look into like you said if we can find because it's so close to town that they're not wanting to put a propane tank in there is it the space whatever go into that a little deeper maybe well I can give you I can give you a piece of
076that you know that was a popular move on the part of AmeriGas I don't I won't go into why they may have been in coordination with anybody would have that would have pushed forward those the recent the Volkswagen resettlement benefits if you will that was a campaign of sorts we had a year to get that in and it didn't get in we're now beyond that year so they have no obligation to put that tank on our side my guess is it's cheaper for them to show up when they're on our schedule to do the amount of fueling that they have we only have three vehicles so that's a drop in the bucket for a company like that right now if we buy three more if we buy three more beyond that the following year there's
077probably going to be some incentive if we have a long-term plan for where we know we're going to be at for the next 50 years that probably you know that probably settles that as well but until we can get out of the supply chain issues reliable have battery required buses out they've got them now they're three hundred thousand dollars we didn't present yeah we didn't present those this evening we appreciate you thank you and I appreciate you not representing that all right we got a motion and a second all in favor any opposed motion carries all right senior trip to New York City consideration approved senior trip to New York City we have Mrs Sharon Sutherland here from Anderson County High School who's going to present I know I know I know I know I
078know um everybody should have gotten the papers right so I had this crazy idea early in a PD and I said hey Mr White what do you think if we try to reinstitute the New York trip again it's been several years I did it in 2001 through 2000 I don't know 15 60 something and then I retired came back three times you're here we're really glad anyway um but there's a group of kids that talked to me about it last year and they talked to me again this year and I said you know what let's see if we can get it back we did it for years it's we have many kids in this community including my own that probably we would have never made a trip like this in their lives and it is
079as affordable as we can make it we've put as many things in it that that are already paid for I mean they need souvenir money if they want to buy souvenirs they may have to buy a couple of meals but most of it is covered the pricing well first day there just kind of shows what we're doing um this is still tentative because we're not sure which play we're going to see yet but we always see a musical we always tour the museums we always tour Central Park they are never unsupervised they are they never go off by themselves there's a poor unfortunate child probably about 15 years ago that um I found in the NBC store by herself because she chose to do that and she became my new best friend we we shopped
080for vacuum cleaners and crock pots and every other stupid horrible thing I can think of and the next morning I said do you think you'll stay with your friends today oh yes ma'am we take good care of them as best we can um I think we put together now the person doing this is Chris billiter who does all the trips that the band and chorus take he is an alumnus of this group um great young man and I think he's put together a pretty good group you can see on the second page back it's gonna be a thousand dollars a child we're doing five payments trying to make it as as cost effective as possible there will be fundraising for every single thing we do there's a major fundraiser so a kid could earn his
081or her own trip but a lot of times they just they pay their Walmart money or wherever it is they're working they just really want to do it so anyway we hope that this is approved you can see the rules of the trip eligibility checklist if right before they leave they are not passing something they get an opportunity to clean it up but if they don't they're not allowed to go they have to be passing everything um they can't be in trouble they can't have been you know loss of privileges or anything you see the tentative chaperone pool um I put Miss Mitchell on here because I'm hoping her daughter wants to go um and in that case I feel like we'd be in really good hands so anyway if you have any questions please
082let me know but me and a whole bunch of senior students we're all seniors we we want to go good time I make a motion that we approve the senior trip to New York City got a motion second all in favor any opposed good luck the kids will be very happy all right Surplus property I'll give you all a minute to read the Surplus property list and if you have any questions please ask Mr Mitchell motion to approve Scott Brown second Jason Collins in favor anyone imposed motion carry fundraiser approvals I'll do the same give you all a second to read over the fundraiser approvals any questions about the fundraisers I make a motion to approve the fundraisers Peggy Peach I'll second Jason Collins purchase request over ten thousand dollars learning Anderson County Middle School
08327-12 or 29 000. 367 Esther funds will be used for this purchase 15 horse wolf pro security station for CTE 23 250 CTE funds will be used for this work let's switch what would you explain yes sir I will and the IXL learning is a program that is a computer-based program that the high school you approved for the high school to utilize the program at the last board meeting so Mrs Rose is making that request to come from the Esser funds on this program has research is research based and does show positive student performance growth for students in all areas but specifically identified for special needs students and she's requesting this for reading and math as well as science and social studies and this is a three-year contract Mrs Rose is there any additional information

085thousand dollars Century Bank 2500 it's the goal to the Anderson County High School girls basketball classic American Legion auxiliary 3500 it's the goal to the Anderson County High School girls basketball any questions I second the most got a motion sacred all in favor any opposed motion carries now we'll get to the PowerHouse renewal all right it's Mr Murphy here tonight you want to come upstairs think about that it's a little bit about it good evening folks um the power school is for our talent Ed applicant tracking platform that we've used for several years it is it does come with a suite of options and functions that allows us to have a historical record of all of our applicants electronically in the system so that we can make maintain that and in case we do need
086to get it for any type of Records or um anything of that nature it also allows an automated system of folks to go on our website and to link directly to our job listings and apply for any of the vacant positions I will say that it's not a perfect system but this is it's as good as any standard system out there right now I've looked into possibly switching to others the problem is is that you lose your data and there isn't a migration period that they will allow you to do so it's one of those things that kind of hook you and it's hard to to move away from it once you have that database built over time it's a it's a good system and honestly we're in a pretty good boat compared to some
087of our fellow school districts in terms of having positions field there's still a lot of if you look in other school districts you'll see multiple pages of listings and thankfully we're down to a single page and we have recurring applications out there for bus drivers for paraprofessionals for substitutes and so on as well so I highly recommend that we consider moving forward with this they also talk on a charge every year as well a percentage increase every single year and I've inquired about that exactly what does it go to and you know they they give me the generic information of of what a client would would have privileges to I guess but nevertheless it's a good system I think it's helped us a lot through the through the pandemic and attracting good quality candidates to
088our district and that's my recommendation to you as board members Murphy forward steps down I'll make approval to any opposed motion carries thank you folks cave 12 solution group 504 module considerations to purchase the 504 module from K-12 to enhance our abilities through IC cost of this product is 2800 which includes a one-time setup cost of a thousand dollars yes sir this is an addition we've already approved you've already approved the IC portion for the year since this is an addition I wanted to make sure that it was on the agenda for consideration for approval this portion does allow our staff to track information around 504 as you well know we do track information for student information special education student data and this piece allows us to track 504 so Mr Harley and folks have
