001meaning to order it on 33 2026 1700 Wallace central office building. All board members are present. They stand for the pledge. To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation with liberty and justice for all. >> I so move to approve the agenda. >> Second. >> Uh I moved Amanda to second it. The uh I want to add uh Mary Jane asked us to add the thing here. It was going to be on the consent for next time, but she needs it for the state. You all got the packet in front of you. It's from the Roberts. This packet here. I want to add that on there. Uh I'll add it under consent, Jody, for item or excuse me. U we'll just add item 6B.

002>> Okay. and I'll just call it Roberts hearing. No further discussion. All in favor signify saying I. I. >> All oppose. Same sign. Motion carries. 50. Item number four, public comments. Anyone from the public? Hearing no public comments. Board member comments. Miss Becky. Oh, I knew you want to start with me. So, I actually have three items tonight. Um, and I'll start with the most important. So, um, I have a sick husband at home. So, anything you can do to make this meeting last a while would be great. >> No, no, ma'am. >> That's an unusual request for the board meeting. Really? >> I know. >> We got to vote on that. >> I need an exception, please. >> Uh, >> exception. Noted. >> Second. Um, John and I attended KSBA a couple weeks ago

003in Louisville and Jake was there. We saw Jake upstairs or downstairs doing >> attorney work. >> Anyway, so a good time was had by all. Um, I will have to say the lunch on Saturday was probably the worst lunch I've ever had there in my entire life. >> Anyway, you know that happens. Um, I did attend a good session on strategic planning and it made me wonder like maybe we need to think about strategic planning. So, I might be stealing your thunder, but I came back and talked to Mr. Arvin about it. He thinks we'll be well positioned in the fall to maybe talk about that because we really should have a vision for two years or three years down the road and we're just kind of going from year to year here. So anyway,

004I wanted to share that. Um, and lastly, so I have resigned as Northern Kentucky regional chair. Uh, my term would be up the end of this year anyway. So, there'll be an election in the fall. So, I've done that because I am taking a position with KSBA >> as a uh training consultant. >> Let's get her on the books, you know, our training done. >> That's all I got. >> Nice. >> Substitute teaching stuff. >> Substitute teaching is very interesting. I'm glad you brought that up. So, I've been subbing in uh Boon County. You know, I have a whole new appreciation for our teachers and our administrators. Um, you know, there's so many schools in Boone County. I go to a different one every week. Been to Goodrich a couple times. Still haven't met Mrs.

005Thompson. But anyway, I try every time I'm there. >> She told me she missed you. >> Yeah, she's always busy and I get that. But, uh, I have to tell you one thing I have noticed. Some schools are immaculate and some schools are little. I mean, I want to clean the room as soon as I get there. It's, you know, it's kind of all over the map, but the first couple of schools I went to, they were not clean at all. And it just made me think, wow, first of all, we're not the only one with this issue. And second of all, I've never seen our buildings look like some of those buildings. I mean, the desks were just awful. I was just I just wanted to clean the rooms. But um it's been enjoyable.

006Um I've kind of found my sweet spot of third, fourth, or fifth grade. So anything lower is really needy and anything higher is really needy. So anyway, I just wanted to dip my toe in and see how I like substitute teaching. I'm not going to do it forever, but it's been interesting. Thank you, >> Miss Amanda. >> Uh just a couple of things. Uh enjoyed community reads. Um the second graders, they humble you quick. It's fun. And just following up with uh middle school school word, have it done and it's completed and working. >> High school will be worked on as soon as all basketball is complete. >> Fantastic. >> And that is all I have. Thank you, >> Mr. Ashley. >> Yeah. Uh we had the EF meeting um a little bit ago and

007they were talking about how at the end of the year we always do the um uh lunch for the staff. You guys know what I'm talking about, right? Um anyways, um they were obviously looking at for donations and stuff this year. So, I thought it would be good for us as a school board just to give us something financially to go towards that to pay for the me or correct me if I'm wrong. >> Do we normally provide? >> No, I asked we haven't been for years because >> I was under the impression because the board has told them in the past that anything they did it for that and correct me if I'm wrong, Mary Jane. I was under the impression that like our cafeterias, food services provided food and stuff for that if

008they needed it. >> They can they can and we encourage people to contact Jane Land because she can order in special stuff and she makes a tiny profit. She she tries to get just a little bit above break even. She doesn't make a lot of money, but it does help the food service out if they order it from there. >> Um we haven't given any money to that's the educational excellence donation, >> but you might remember we have we do designate money for the frisky stuff, the family. >> But to my knowledge, since I've been here, we haven't given anything to the >> educational. >> How much you all want us, Ashley? >> Um, I don't know, 500 or so for just to buy the meat or part of the meat at least. I know

009they had the hot dogs donated, but I don't think they've had anything else. >> If you'll put that in a motion. Okay, >> I'll second it to a lot $500 for the food purchase. >> What do you want me to say? >> Okay. >> Yeah, I a motion to do that. >> And I'll second it. >> We know it's written now. >> Yes. >> Yeah, that work. >> Any other discussions on it? >> We good? >> 500. >> Yes, ma'am. Yeah. >> You ain't going to throw nothing at me? >> No. >> Okay. >> No. >> You did itch the golf. You did it niche the golf cart for Matt. So, >> there was >> Yeah. >> So, uh Ashley moved. I second. All in favor? >> I opposed. Same sign. Motion carries 50 to

010give them 500 for me. >> Anything else, Miss Ashley? >> No. Mr. John Jones. >> Uh just a heads up for you all. Um two of our former employees have been honored. Um the 8th region hall of fame is going to induct Randy Meford who was our girls coach here a few years ago and he also helps with girls golf right now and Carol Jagger who was an athletic director, assistant principal and elementary school principal. Um, this might be a chance to be able to toot our horn of a couple of people that are former employees or current employees and recognize them and uh I think Monday is the night they're going to be inducted at Henry County. >> Okay. >> In between basketball games. So, might be a chance for us to tell them

011congratulations. And >> Randy also coached Carl County stuff, didn't you? >> Yeah. and coaster golf team down there I believe too. >> Both excellent people. >> Yes. >> Anything else, Mr. Jones? >> That's all I got. >> Believe it or not, I have nothing right now. >> Uh moving on. No hearing. No other further board member comments. Recommend action. No new business. Uh student board member got anything? >> Uh yeah, I have a couple things. So, our educators rising, they have their competition this Thursday. Um, I asked them about that and that's basically all they told me. So, but they have that on Thursday. So, wishing them luck. Um, FFA has our regional competition day on Tuesday. We have I'd say probably 20 25 kids going, which is the most we've had in a long

012time. Um, so we're hoping for a good turnout with all of that. band on next Wednesday has KMEA which we will be going to getting rated on how well we are and how well we've grown from last year to this year. So that's exciting. We're all we've been preparing for that. Um baseball and softball are preparing for their upcoming seasons with practices and whatnot after school. And then my final thing is that the drama classes that were added at the high school this year, um both of them are working on their movies. I know one class is almost finished and the class I'm in, we're still working on it, but we're hoping to finish those up within I'd say month. So, >> I seen somewhere we had a bunch of students win some awards for

013like reporting and video editing and stuff. >> FBLA. >> Yes. >> Oh, yes. FBLA. I forgot about them. Yeah, they are going to state. I don't know when their state is. Um, >> yeah, there was quite a few of them that are going to state. Yeah, we have a from what I what I read there the uh scene we've got what probably eight or 10. >> Yeah, there was there was quite a few >> and different categories going down for like video editing, >> video making, production, broadcast, >> but other than that, that's all I got. >> Did you come up with your graduation date yet? My only thought with that is um that last week of school, a lot of kids probably aren't going to show up anyway, especially the seniors. That's my only

014thought. If it was to be on the 16th, it might be helpful for whatever attendance. Um most seniors that I know aren't going to show up anyway because they won't be doing anything. Um, personally I would think the 24th, but for majority I would say they would want the 16 just because most of them aren't going to show up at >> Thank you. >> When is our last day for students? >> 21st of May for now anyway, right? How many NTI days do we have left? We have >> zero. Oh, we have two banks going. >> I think we're done with them. >> That's the hope. We'll go ahead and just run this on in item 68. Discuss proof high school graduation date for 2526 school year. You got the 16th and the 23rd. Let's

015hear it. I think there's quite a lot of stuff that the high school has set up for them that last week. I mean, there's there's things they have to do. there's other stuff. So I think >> so even though they're not doing class work, they're still >> there's a lot they've got graduation practice. They've got, you know, some the meals and different things that they do. So they have events for them that last week even though the class work >> one of them need what name that >> occasionally there's an academic miracle that has to take place. >> There's a few that might need a little a little extra. >> I've not seen Jesus there, but his work has come. and with with the state testing, it's the last 15 days and so there's some

016makeup testing that might still need to be going on and everything else. So >> So what's your recommendation? >> I I think that traditionally what we've done the last few years is it's been you know that that 23rd would be consistent with how we have done it the last few years and picking that Saturday immediately. >> So 23rd time. So, we have done 11. Uh, or we could do >> 9:30 >> 12. >> 11's good, right? I'm more of a morning person. So, >> I think 11's what we've done the last two years. >> I think 11 would work. >> So, the 23rd and 10 o'clock. I guess between Amanda's nine and Jackie's >> 11. I make a motion we have graduation on May the 21st at 11:00 a.m. >> 23rd. >> May 23rd. 23rd

01723rd >> at 11. >> Just making sure you're listening. >> I second. >> May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. John moved. >> Mr. Mand second. All in favor? >> Opposed? Graduation carries May 23rd at 11:00 a.m. One hour. Correct. >> Yes. >> Or less. Item seven, uh, discussion change April 21. >> You had 6B. >> Robert's insurance. >> Oh, sorry about that. Thanks, Jake. Item 6B. That's Mary. Jane, you're up. >> Um, that's just the the insurance that we offer to students. If they have an accident near, we pay that coverage. They still have to fill out a bunch of stuff. If something happens, get the price increase $125 for the year. >> And about how many take this insurance, do you know? I do not know. Um the nurse kind of keeps track of that.

018>> Okay, no problem. >> And they um anybody we we have the forms and we just hand it to the students and they complete them on their own and deal direct directly with the insurance company. >> I see. Okay. >> And was that find out? I can ask them. >> Was there 125 overall or 125 for student? >> 125 overall. >> Okay. >> I move we accept. >> I'll second. Smanda moves. I second it. There no further discussion. All in favor? >> Opposed? Carries. 50. >> Can Can I say something about forgot? We will not be paying that bill until after July 1st. It needed to be approved so I could fill out some applications, but he knows that he doesn't get his money till after the first of the next year. >> Thank you.
