Two of the best ones and we have only 12 students, all of those scored perfectly on their lead. That is amazing. That means every single question on a very long test. So what we're really supplies and I just want to say you all here today makes all of us as an education you inspire us better. So even though even though school us high school fifth grader in the corner had [laughter] a perfect score These are you can put one in. Put one in the yard. other side. We also have parents. There you go. Another is going up. JC High School purpose score in

math. So this month we do All that elementary I don't want all the students here. This is called metal coin on there. So we give that don't get them out there. We give them students does something extra special and sometimes it takes courage going south. They are like they elementary school jazz. Perfect score. This student elementary school You want to take a picture for this? Okay. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, I'm a Anybody Thank you all different. Back to my podium. Development director apologize again for your last name. If anybody doesn't know the one that's free and accent so I invited her to come today and I'll have to say I'm not out of shape. I just think with the the cold that everybody has the series that I have to follow all those students but

it makes me very excited knowing that we do have a very bright and a very good workforce coming up and all the students perfect their test and I know the hard work that it takes to do that school years but for those who don't know me my name is Cesy Oliver and I'm the new I would say newly appointed but I've been in my position for six months now the parish economic development director I recently graduated with bachelor's in a business and I'm currently working on a masters in a education and extension and I'm very excited to be here. For those of you that don't know what economic development is, my job is to attract and improve the specific development here in Jeff Davis Parish and try to make sure that they have everything they

need to succeed. And I come to work with the school board, our police, all of our tax offices this year as well to make sure that they all the businesses are getting extend all the tax credits that they have to have as well as making sure that they're doing to make Parish a better place. This challenge is very difficult capable of getting business to come today. I just want to be here right away. It's very difficult. Well, we do we have been seeing a boom with LG industries within places to lay down to put products and other things while they build back their facilities and that's been a huge progress. We're starting to do that as well as we'll try and get more business property sites that are certified sites which Louisiana development department they

have identified those sites as true business ready sites have done a bunch of due diligence to make sure that those sites have been surveys and checkation or anything property during make sure that those lands are ready for some kind of commercial development and we're now working with territory not to get those sites from agriculture to industrial because that's an issue we've been noticing that businesses don't want to come and develop that is not as far over community like ours to ask them because a lot of people are scared to see their go but as someone do not ever want to see our farmers do it go away what we have to find we have to dive side bears with this problem that we're seeing in agriculture today. But what the most important thing for me

is like I'm trying to help make sure that we're growing our tax base because as you all know our tax schools and grow our schools and also recruit people to stay in Jeff Parish. We've seen a loud migration in the state, not only in the parish, but in the state of Louisiana for people moving away because they don't have jobs. And I want to make sure that we're keeping our workforce here because we do have quality workforce there, but a lot of them at home. So, I want to make sure we're recruiting businesses so that others have to look forward to working a back. A very big thing of mine is I wanted to go because I didn't like the hustle and bustle of city life and I wanted to be able to be a

great city. Does anybody have any questions? And something else I'd like to is of all the workforce development that the state department has put out. I actually this past semester and we created our whole workforce development and just got modernized and I want to come to the school board one once it's completely ready to start that so that we can put in place the workforce development program that the state would like everyone to have by 2030 as well as to get students with the hands-on experience as they're going through high school to go where they go to college or if they don't want to go to college and take that career aspect. has any questions. >> [laughter] >> If anybody would have a question, I was going down very like in October slowest down and

then it was the holidays. I have had a couple phone calls this last week with all projects that they're wanting to meet with after the year. So, I'm thinking to roll into it be a very busy hopefully year >> and whenever you talked about they're trying to do the pre certain blocks. How is that going? I know it's a future meeting you brought that up to. We actually just recently our first site I site in Lson was just 500 it's a little over 570 acres that was deemed by the state industrial we just got it zone light industrial going to our next site and but I've actually since got approved through just posted on newspapers and being posted online and stuff I've had tons of landers reach out to me wanting to get their zone

so they can in there as well. >> Yes. I'm not talking about people want to sell or we just had it resounded. It actually just passed last Wednesday. So it hasn't been bright but I've talked to our regionals. So I'm not local. We have regionals. actually being in Wish both our region and Lake Charles regional development and I told both of them and with the holidays but now hopefully after they say to start pushing back we have a meeting in February with site consultants to be able to sell those properties as well >> thank you >> yes thank you so All right, guys. I will now turn back over to John Hall of the 2026. >> Okay, we're going to open up the floor now for nominations for school board president. Have any nominations? >>

So Miss Anetta Jones, she's Jeff Davis Elementary support person of the year. Then we have Mr. Keshan Lions. He is Jeff Davis Parish Middle School support person of the year. We have uh

Ben High School support person of the year. We have Miss Shannon Mr. and Miss Miss Shannon. Going into teacher of the year, we have Miss Heather Hanks. So, we kind of that's how we do things. You just walk into their class and and surprise them. And uh, Miss Ed was like hyperventilating. But I remember I didn't know how to say it personally. Um and also so this is a great they go

on to the next level this competition. Um I would like to thank Miss She goes through this on a lot. It it is uh beyond what any [clears throat] of the hus can imagine [laughter] because she has to make sure that she has procedures in place. She has to make sure the schools are aware of the timing and then just preparation for these levels like what do you do? How do you do it? So, anyways, he represents [clears throat] all of us and and so uh we're going to start seeing him in more of an active role coming up this year and I want to thank him for always looking out for us as a board. I want

to say this. Uh first of all, when I first started going to the disparities, there were very few ladies represented here and it's good to see ladies and the leaders. Uh also everything is positive here. Uh y'all have a lot of great recognitions of your students. Uh a lot of positive things and so many school boards are strictly business. And I think that recognizing people that do good, recognizing businesses, bringing in the the uh the representatives like the economic development and also the little things you do like running through these schoolboard meetings as efficiently as you do. That tells your public, hey, we've got our stuff together. When you come to some of the boards, I sit through where they're talking and arguing. can't if they can say I know that today is Thursday if

I have a split vote on it. So I commend y'all the way you do business. I I look forward to working with you and the good thing is you don't have to work with me very much because your leadership takes care of business. So anyway, thank y'all so much. >> Thank superintendent. [laughter] Can I get a motion? I got a motion by hear all in favor? I >> follow your guest.
