Thanks to the Magnolia Trace family. Thank y'all for

being here. Thanks for bringing our ambassadors. Y'all are amazing. Thank you, Miss Hunt, Miss Chado, Miss Bro. Thank y'all for being here and all that you do to help our kids. [clears throat] It's always a pleasure to to visit a few minutes with them. They always make me laugh and it's hard to get them off my couch. I said I told them I wish I could sit on that couch one day. So, that would be absolutely amazing. But thank y'all for being here. I really appreciate and and would in all the parents, faculty, staff, and students from Magnolia Trace, please stand and be recognized for being here tonight. Thank you'all very much. [applause] Thank you all so much for being here. I truly truly appreciate it. Well, like I said, tonight is a great celebration.

Uh, as Miss Rutherford mentioned last week, uh, we kicked off and did a ribbon cutting ceremony for a brand new ProStart kitchen at Coington High School. So, let's check out that awesome celebration. All right, we're going to count it down. 3 2 1. This is our ribbon cutting ceremony for our ProStart program. This is been a long time coming. We're we're very excited to have this to where we can expand our ProStart program for Coington High School. >> You can't build a program if you don't have the tools and and the ability to teach kids, truly teach them. And we're blessed here in St. Tammy, having the ability to have a place where our kids can do this type of work at this type of level, we're just amazed to be able to give the

kids this opportunity and these type of skills. >> We've been cooking noodles all day, boiling the water. It took forever. Um, and then we made our Alfredo sauce. We did the chicken. Um, and then we basically put it all together. We made a fall harvest salad. That was great. And then we had our Dolce [music] de Leche cupcake. Um, and it was a homemade cupcake with homemade caramel. Tons of stuff. But it was really fun. >> [music] >> it it's so important because they get to see if they want to do this because they get they doing the real work that they would do in a real kitchen >> to see the the community come out and to back the school to back our students to show support. I just can't [music] say enough about

this amazing group >> here at Coington High. We are so community based. Um we have great alumni. Um and then to come here and eat our food and say, "Oh, it's great. It's amazing." We got so many compliments for everything, especially from [music] our teachers. Um, and then from people in Covington, so important for them to come here and be proud of Coington High. [applause] A huge thank you to our board members that came out, but also just what they talked about community. The entire Covington City Council came and the mayor and they were all there to support Coington High School and that brand new uh, ProStar kitchen. So, a big huge thank you to Mayor Mark and the entire uh Covington uh council, city council for being there for us. I really truly appreciate

it. So, thank you very very much. Um just a few things I I I informed board members, I informed y'all last week I was going to be at my state superintendent conference. Uh that was Sunday, Monday, and half day Tuesday. Uh we great turnout, great group of people. Uh we talked about a tremendous amount of topics from literacy to AI to some new uh Louisiana Department of Education uh policies. TRSL was there to talk to us about uh the um the amendment that'll be on the ballot in May. Um amendment two that'll be on that ballot. LHSA concerns uh House Finance. So the the House Finance director was there and also Senate appropriations were there to kind of give us an update on what we're looking at uh for this next session. So it was

great to hear from them. Uh so we had a a tremendous amount of great topics uh and great conversation. Uh we had a lot of superintendent school systems that presented and did presentations. Um, but it it was a great opportunity to get together and uh to kind of share some of the things that we're all dealing with and and kind of get some great suggestions from each other. So, I appreciate the opportunity to attend that the last few days and then we rolled right back into town and uh jumped straight over to Northshore Technical for a local uh company that is looking to build their workforce. So, I appreciate Melissa Stratburgger and uh Stacy Alexis meet me there so that we can kind of go through some workforce development and some things they're looking for.

They're looking for welders. They're looking for engineers. They're looking for uh mechanics and they're looking for general practitioners, students that can handle general assembly. Uh so, we are going to do everything in our power to uh build that capacity in our schools so that we can keep those businesses uh in St. Tammy and that business in St. Tammy. So, looking forward to it. then left there Tuesday and headed over to Trin. Uh we had our first teacher certified employee uh advisory committee meeting on Tuesday and then we turned around last night and had support employee uh advisory committee. Uh great conversation everything from curriculum to special education to hiring to uh classrooms to training professional development. We covered a huge array of topics and got some tremendous feedback. Uh it was great to meet the

so the each school elected uh a teacher representative from their school and they elected a support employee plus we had a few drivers and uh bus attendants that joined us. Uh so it was uh it was great to have everybody there and it was a lot of great uh information shared. But thank you to Kim, Steve, uh Melissa and Meredith for both being there, all being there uh so that we could answer some questions and and take a deep dive and that will continue. Uh we will be meeting again in February to continue those conversations. Uh but we're off to a great start. So I appreciate the ability to do that. Uh but Mr. Green, that's my update right now for this week. Thank you, Mr. Jabby. Any questions for the superintendent? I see none.

So now we'll move on to special recognitions. Mr. Jabia. First up is our uh twotime back-to back defending state champion Slideel High School girls basketball volleyball team. [applause] Good evening tonight uh board. It's my pleasure to be able to recognize the Slido High girls volleyball team for their state championship. Uh, President Green, Superintendent Jabia. Tonight, we're proud to recognize the Slido High School volleyball team, our 2025 Division 1 state champions. And not just that, but back-to-back state champions. This team has shown consistency, heart, and excellence over two seasons to bring home the title again. Before we bring the team forward, we would like to share a short video highlighting their championship match and some of the unforgettable moments. >> [music] [music] >> in a rematch of the 2024 state volleyball finals. The reigning state champion

Slido Lady Tigers took [music] on topseated Dominican. [cheering] Slide out came out firing in the first set, taking it 2523. >> If we do everything we're supposed to do, I mean, everything was ringing the ball, everything was serving the right zone, putting my hand on the ball, and being disciplined, playing defensive, they can't they can't, not only can they not win, they can't score. [music] In the second, Slido kept the momentum and went up 6 and finished with another 2523 win in the set. [screaming] >> We're up two to nothing. That's 50 freaking points. They should be tired. They're going uphill. We're on the way down. You can be tired when the freaking game is over. [cheering] In the third, the Lady Tigers fought to the end, taking set three 27 to 25, [cheering] sweeping

first seated Dominican and going backto back as state champions. [screaming] [cheering] Senior Ava Booka had an outstanding 21 kills and six blocks and was named most outstanding player. When you're there, you really feel the fire of the crowd and all your supporters. You know, I hear my name being chanted in the back and it really just motivates me. And then I'm up there and I swing and it's just like seems like everything goes in my favor. >> I'm so happy for these girls to overcome all the things that you overcome in this sport. Uh it's very difficult with with club ball and the way it all works and uh our girls have battled and they and they deserve to be right here. I don't know I've ever been more proud of a team [music] in

my life. So our emphasis was we got to be the best version of ourselves and be the best teammate we can be the entire time if we're going to beat him. So yeah, incredibly proud. [screaming] [applause and cheering] [applause] >> [applause] >> At this time, uh, unfortunately, we can't have every player here tonight and their head coach, Coach Tullus, couldn't be here tonight. But we do want to call each girl down if we can. We have a certificate for you. Those that are here and like to get a picture with the superintendent. So, when I call your name, if you'll come down here and stand, please. Uh, Emma Pippinger. [applause] >> Cheyenne O'Neal. >> [applause] >> And I should say too, I apologize if I butcher your name, Ella Kate Spilling, [cheering] [applause] Nora Finches,

[applause] Tessa Simons, [applause] Brie Tassen, [applause] Aria Miller, [applause] Kayn Berseron, Payton Robotham, [applause] Madison Green, Ava Labat, [applause] Michelle Bird, [cheering] [applause] >> Addie Da, [cheering] [applause] Bryley McGovern, [applause] Ana Jefferson, Taran Dukree, [applause] Tegan Canyon. Maybe I'll just make you sit one more time. Here we go. Lily Simpson, [applause] Ava Booka. [cheering] [applause] At this time, we would like for uh to recognize their coaches that are here. If y'all please stand, that'll come on down as well. The assistant coaches. [applause] >> Yeah. >> Would you like to speak? Yes. Go ahead. >> Thank you. >> First of all, thank you so much for having us today. Um, Coach Telus is very sorry that he cannot be here, but he did leave me some words, so you're probably gonna be glad that I'm reading

him because if not, he'd probably be up here for 25 minutes. Um, again, um, all of our team couldn't make it. We have people who play basketball, soccer, and we have some bowlers. So, um, I'm sorry that everyone couldn't be here, but this is from Coach Tullis. First off, I'm sorry I'm not in attendance tonight. It is an incredible honor to be recognized at one of these meetings and we are all so appreciative to you guys for having us here tonight. This was an amazing season for us. We all know none of this is possible without the hard work put in by so many others. Thanks to my administration and athletic director for supporting us in every way possible. Thanks to the faculty and staff at Slidel High. We appreciate your excitement and help along

the way. Thank you to the parents of the players. I couldn't list the amount of things they did to contribute to these back-to-back state titles. Thank you girls for working so hard for me and for each other. A great thank you to the ones that do so much of the work but get none of the credit, my assistants, Ally and Cullen Tullis, Rachel Batistella, Allison Hartman, and Steven Ford. I of course need to thank the person who is my rock and the only reason I am able to do any of this, my beautiful wife Diana. I understand and appreciate what you are as well as our entire family has done for me in my coaching career. My four wonderful children are the driving force behind all that I have ever achieved in this sport. Thanks

to Ansley, Ally, and Colin for always strategizing with me and listening to my insane volleyball rants. Thank you, Christian, for watching over me these last three seasons from above. I love and miss you more than one could ever know. And as always, we do everything and give the glory to God. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Thank you again, Coach Danny. Thank you. [applause] >> Okay. Also, could we have their principal, Mr. Herisa, come on down to get in the picture? And we also have our manager. [applause] We we'd also like the team manager, Kelly, to come on down getting a picture as well. [applause] >> Yeah, y'all going that way. >> Yeah. All right, everybody look here. >> All right. One, two, three. Thank you. Perfect. [applause] >> Multi-talented. Okay,

cool. girls, if y'all will stay standing. If we have any of the family family that are here supporting these awesome young ladies, if y'all would stand and be recognized, please. [applause] Just to kind of put it in perspective, thank y'all. Thank y'all very much. Just to kind of put it in perspective a little bit, I did a little bit of research. I've been trying to pull up some stuff. So, I went back to 2018. I know it goes further than that, but I went back to 2018. I was telling Mr. Alfonso today, and in in girls volleyball, they give away five state championships a year. Division one is what our slott girls are in. That's the largest classification all the way down to division five to the very smallest schools. So if you look at

0232018 to 2025, 40 state champions have been crowned in girls volleyball. [clears throat] Only two only two traditional public schools have ever made the finals in that time and that is Slaughter High in 24 and 25. And they not only made it, but they won it. So it's just amazing. Absolutely amazing. >> [applause] >> And and tonight we have the MVP from 2025, Miss Ava Booka. And we have the 2024 MVP, Miss Addie Dao. So congratulations to both of those. [applause] And we have one of the best setters that I've ever seen in my life, Miss Ava Levette. So congratulations. [applause] But congratulations. I it it it look I I I coached for a long time and uh what they accomplished with the odds and with the DAX deck stacked against them uh obviously when

when in 40 state championships only two traditional public schools have won it. That just that says everything. So congratulations ladies. So proud of y'all. So proud [applause] Board members, we also have another celebration tonight uh concerning athletics. Tonight, we're also proud to honor and recognize Grace King, a Northshore High School sophomore and the 2025 Division 1 state cross country champion. Grace ran three miles in an incredible time of 17 minutes 21.7 seconds, the third fastest time ever at the state meet and a new division 1 state record. [snorts] Before we bring Grace forward and her coach, let's watch a video highlighting Grace and her accomplishments. [music] >> We're so proud to have Grace represent North High School. Ready, go. >> And St. Tony Parish as a state [music] champion. It means a lot to be

able to hold a record and kind of be remembered. And when people come [music] and compete, they'll see that. >> Grace is amazing in in the time that she [music] puts in, the effort she puts in. I know that she gets up. She she has a proper diet. She works hard at just [music] at school. You know, she's a straight A student. Then she comes after school and [music] then she runs. I like running because it's something that I look forward to every day, something I can push myself in, [music] and something that gives me an opportunity to do things that not other kids are getting to do. >> At the beginning of the season, uh, they had the list of composite records and then the state alltime records and I printed out that list

for her and I said, "Here's your chance to leave your legacy >> inside position." Remember, inside track, >> the goal is to put your name on this. What an accomplishment here for Grace [music] [applause and cheering] came from Northshore. She does it in a time of 1720. >> And uh she was able to do that [music] in division one 5A. She was able to win that mark and now she holds the third fastest time and she's the second fastest girl in Louisiana history because the first two times are [music] held by the same girl. >> It's definitely a huge honor. I am very excited and just something awesome to work off of. >> [applause] [applause] >> At this time, we'd like to invite Grace and her coach and her principal to come to the podium,

please. Thank you. >> Please say a few words. >> Um, I'd just like to say I'm so thankful to be here tonight. I thank everyone who supported me, my teammates, my coaches, my family, um, and just everyone who's made being here tonight possible. And it's just a huge a huge thing to be grateful for. So, thank you. >> [applause] >> We appreciate it. It's first want to say congratulations SL High School volleyball team. It's amazing. Uh not just to to win but also to repeat. That's so difficult. So congratulations to to those ladies and the coaching staff. Um I I was able to to hand off some paperwork to to Mr. Jabian. he passed over hopefully to you guys to see some of the the individual accomplishments that that Grace has been able to accomplish

over the past two years. Um, and it's not just on a a statewide level, it's it's on an AAOU level where she she's just named the uh the national champion as well for that. So, uh, so many amazing things this this year we ran she ran in nine races this year and, um, in all nine of those races, she was either first or second place. And we're racing against the the best of the best in the state. Uh, we specifically go out to, uh, some of the toughest races to to see some of the toughest competition. And, um, it's always fun to to see her and and her teammates really kind of push and then help each other out. And uh one of the cool things about cross country is uh the the family uh

I guess the family group that they've created and the the bond that the team has created. And um she she's been amazing. And if you can look at all those things backto-back district champion as an individual, she's helped lead the the the girls northshore cross country team to backto-back team championships. Uh she is backto-back division one region three champion. And that's all those private schools in the New Orleans area as well. Uh last year she finished third in state and she said that's not going to happen again. So she wanted to make sure that she took care of that this year. So uh we color code everything. We give her all of the information. She knows who she's supposed to be chasing and who she's racing with. And uh she said they're all going to

be chasing me this year. So congratulations to to you guys. [applause] >> [applause] >> If you can get a picture real quick. [applause] Like they said, it's just amazing that the the time [clears throat] that athletes like Grace put in uh in in the dead heat of the summer, in the winter when it's raining. As you can see, the only way you can do it is to run. And so that means she's running every day, which blows me away. Uh as you can see, I'm not a runner. Um if you ever see me running, you might want to start running. um because we're we're in trouble. Um but uh I I just I'm just so proud of Grace and our entire team. Uh they accomplished great things this year. Uh that's as as coach Ruda

said just a second ago, cross country is a very difficult to compete because you're running against as a team uh teams that train for that year round and that's what they do. Uh and a lot of the private schools they specialize in in certain sports and cross country is one of those. So, I just appreciate the work that y'all put in and the time that they put in. So, thank you all for being here. Thank you. [applause] We'd also like to ask that uh anyone that's here to support Grace, her family, please stand and be recognized. [applause] Once again, we're we're proud of you, Grace, and we can't wait to see what you do in the future, as well as Fal High volleyball, thank y'all for coming tonight. [applause] >> I'd just like to say

real quickly on on behalf of the board, Grace, and and ladies of the Slide Ohio volleyball team, when [clears throat] you reach the the pinnacle of success, you are the state champions. There's nobody better than you at what you do. I know it must bring so much pride to your family, your school communities, but just know that it brings so much pride to this board and this school system to bring this accomplishment back to this parish to know that we're a part of you girls being the best and in reaching the pinnacle of success and your accomplishment. So, congratulations on behalf of this board, and behalf of the parish in this school system. We are so so proud of you girls and keep up the wonderful work. >> [applause] >> Okay. Uh, Mr. Kuzanne, >>

just like to add how tough the feet that Slotty High volleyball team went through before they won the last two years. One other team had won that championship 14 years in a row. So, that's how tremendous a feat that was for you girls winning that championship. Thank you very much. Yes, sir. >> [applause] >> Miss Geller sle high. I'll say it again. I said it last year. I've known some of you girls since y'all were like five. And it's so amazing to be able to sit here and watch the accomplishments that you have done. I won't name them all, but I know some of you are going on to play volleyball in college. Some of you going on academically and it's amazing that you guys are doing that. To the Telus family, I know it

is so difficult to go back to that cinjun dome every year and you've done it two years in a row and kick butt. So, congratulations to all of you, the coaching staff, the school. Um, Grace, I am so sorry that I have on green tonight, but it is Christmas. It has nothing to do with favoring Sidal High over Northshore, just for the record. But congratulations to you as well to be a sophomore like the swimmer from last uh meeting who's a sophomore to take home the state championship. And from Mr. Ruda's thing, um the national championship as a sophomore is amazing. We miss you on the soccer field, but we'll let it slide since you're a state champion and all. So, congratulations to each and every one of you. We hope you continue with the

passion that you have for the sports that you have. Um, and keep up the great work. Thank you. [applause] >> Miss Font Laoy, >> just real quickly, I wanted to congratulate all of you as well. Grace. Um, I probably couldn't run three miles by tomorrow. So, congratulations on you. Um, that's that's astonishing and good luck going forward. Um, you have two more years to win everything. [clears throat] Um, and Slidel, all I can say for you guys, I'm not a sports person, but I know there's something called a three repeat, so good luck with that. >> Thank you. >> [applause] >> We'll we'll take a quick recess five minutes for um those that we've recognized to go home and celebrate with your family and friends. Uh board, let's jump back on the deis and finish

up our business, please. [clears throat] >> [music] [music] >> Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. N. [music] Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat. Heat. Heat. [music] [music] Heat. [music] Heat. >> [music] >> Heat. Heat. >> [music] [music] >> Board members, let's uh return to our seats and get back to business if we can. The next item on our agenda is the consent agenda. Do any board members need to remove an item from the agenda? the consent agenda. I see none. Let me read the agenda and then I'll ask for a motion. Um we've learned a lot. things uh hopefully will um move forward in the next two years. We're working with the superintendent and um as you know we're our internal auditor program needs to be um worked on but the superintendent's got that in hand and we're asking the board to reappoint us for another two years. Miss Baker? >> I just wanted to say how much I appreciate you all and am grateful for um just having us and and and being able to work with the staff here and just for the sake of transparency. So, I appreciate you. Thank you, >> Miss Font Laoy. I I too appreciate all the work you put in. Um I did have one quick question. This is a two-year appointment, but

it says 2627. >> Does that >> I noticed I noticed that as well. >> I don't think anyone >> is that just a typo. >> Typo. We'll fix that. >> All right. Thank you. >> Any others? >> Okay. Let's please vote. >> It was unanimous second. >> Oh, well unanimous second. There you go. Fantastic. Thank you, Mr. Broom. >> Uh, next item on our agenda is the election of the board officers and we will start with the election of the president and I will take nominations from the floor. Miss Fontleroy >> for president. Yes, ma'am. >> Miss Martin has been nominated. >> Sorry. I'd like to nominate Miss Amanda Martin. >> Miss Amanda Martin. Are there any other nominations from the floor? I see none. So, I don't think we need to vote there. >>

Easy vote. >> Yes, sir. Thank you, President Green. On behalf of Fifth Ward's FFA program, [laughter] >> I would like to present you a little gift, Miss Martin. >> No, you got to open in front of everybody. >> And President Green, you can take yours with home with you tonight. Thank you so much for your service. >> Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Harold. >> [applause] >> Thank you, Miss Martin. I know you'll lead us well in the last year of our of our term here. Uh, I'd like to open up the nominations for vice president, Mr. Bro. >> I would like to nominate Mr. Dennis Kuzanne. >> All right. Mr. Kuzanne's been nominated as vice president. Are there any other nominations for vice president from the floor here? >> I see none. So, this will

be another easy vote. Mr. Cuz, [applause] >> thank you very much for the confidence that you have displayed in me tonight. Thank you very much. >> Yes, sir. Thank you. >> Uh, election of human resource education committee chair. Open up the nominate. Oh, wait. >> Yes, sir. Mr. Mr. Thank you, President Green. U board members, as most of y'all probably have seen or heard me talking about it, I'd like to really look at how we're doing our committee meetings. So, at this time, I would ask that we table election of chair for committees until January and then we'll have a chance to discuss committees moving forward. So, I I just hate to see us elect somebody, they serve for a month, and then we change something up. So, so the way I see it is

if we we discuss changing the committee meeting, >> if we if we decide not to change those committee meetings, then we just proceed with the election of an officer. >> Why don't we just elect them and then we can change it? >> Why don't we come up with this tonight? >> Okay. >> Hang on one sec. Mr. Harold has the floor and he he's offered to table this motion. And um Mr. Harrison, can you remind me parliamentary procedure on the table? Do I need a second? You do need a second. >> Mr. Bro is so good at this. Um, >> it's not debatable, but >> I knew it was not debatable, but I You can get a second out of a bunch of caution, but I don't think you need it. >> I'm fine either

way. I just would hate to see if we choose to change up way we do committees to have somebody fill a position for a month and then we >> we move things around. But >> you say that's going to pass. That's why I said we'd have the election right after >> it's not debatable so you just vote. >> I may I have a for >> Yes, sir. Mr. Broad I I really think we have to follow policy. We cannot just change policy in the middle of it and our policy says we elect those positions tonight. So e even if it's you know if we decide to do something else that would be a policy change and we can discuss that in January. >> That's fine with me. >> Okay. Well, let's proceed with the election

of human resource education committee chair. Can I have a nomination? >> I have a nominee. >> Miss Rutherford. >> I'd like to nominate Miss Kinda Font. >> Miss Font Laoy. Do I have another nomination from the four? Miss Lamey. >> I want to nominate Miss Hurst. >> And I'm just throwing this out there. I don't know if I can say anything else. Can I or no? Okay. I will take the wise advice of Miss Moore, who looks like she's about to bite somebody's head off if I She did. [laughter] >> All right. Any Do we have any other nominations? >> The rules, ma'am. >> Human resource committee chair. >> I do not. So, do what do we do? Voice. >> Roll call vote. >> Okay. >> I have to call roll and you have to

vote. Okay. Yeah. Mr. Green. >> Miss Foy. >> Miss Hansen. >> Miss Rutherford. >> Miss Fry. >> Mr. Harold. >> Miss Forth. >> Miss Martin. >> Miss Moore. >> Dr. Peterson. >> Miss Fner. >> Miss Baker. >> Miss Bwood. >> Miss McCullum. >> Miss Font. >> Miss Lamey. Miss Hurst is >> Mr. Bro. >> I abstain. >> Yeah, that's like voting. >> Okay. Miss Roy, >> Miss Hurst, >> Miss Hersus, >> Mr. Kuzanne, >> Miss Foy, >> Miss Rafino Galler, Miss [clears throat] >> Okay, Miss Fontlery. Got it. 12:30. >> Okay. Miss Font Laoy is the new committee chair for human resources and education by a vote of 12 to three. Uh, next election is for finance and administrative chair. Do I have any nominations from the floor? >> No. Miss Hurst. Well, I would

nominate myself, but considering the board has definitely clearly um voted that I'm a complete imbecile, I would like to nominate Miss Michelle uh Gallagher. >> Miss Fontroy, >> I'd like to nominate Mr. Harold. Any other nominations for finance and administrative? [clears throat] >> Okay. >> All right. >> Mr. Green, >> Mr. Harold, >> Miss Hansen, >> Miss Rutherford, >> you're not going to hurt my feelings. I'm trying to get away with away from it. No, no, no. >> Miss Foy, >> Mr. Harold, >> I'll be embarrassed. I'll I'll myself. >> Miss Martin, >> Miss Moore, >> Mr. Harold, >> Dr. Peterson, >> Miss G, >> Miss Baker, >> Mr. Harold, >> Miss McCullum, >> Mr. Hang on, Miss Lamey. >> Um, this is just unfair. I guess I'll say cuz I can't abstain. I guess

I'll say Miss Gallagher. >> Mr. Hurst. >> Miss Gallagher. >> Mr. Bro, >> Miss Gallagher. >> Mr. Kusand. >> Miss Gallagher. >> Mr. Rafino Gallagher. >> Pizza. >> Oh, >> okay. Miss Gallagher will serve as our finance and administrative committee chair. Vote is 8 to seven. So congratulations Miss Gallagher. >> All right. So that's all set. You guys will take your positions uh the beginning of January. Congratulations to all. So >> excellent. >> First meetings in February. May I say >> first committee meetings February. >> Okay. >> Sure. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who served um pre this 2020 425 school year. Thank you for your service. >> Welcome. >> Yes, sir. Mr. J. >> I' I'd like to know that Miss Miss Baker stole my thunder. Um but thank

you to everyone who served this year and I'm looking forward to working with our new officers in the upcoming year. It'll be a great 2026. I can't believe I'm saying that, but 2026. That blows my mind. But thank y'all all for all you'll do for me. >> Deal. We'll move into three. Oh, Mr. Bro. >> Yes. I I I would like to request that we put on the January agenda um the option to change the uh or eliminate the uh committee meetings. And uh I don't know if we can I guess we could actually pass that in one meeting since we won't have a committee as a whole meeting in in January. pol policies have to go committee a pol if if it was going to be a policy change which I think it would

have to be um it would have to be committee as a whole it would have to be done with our our our current policy says any policy changes have to go committee to board >> I think we've overridden that in some cases in the past >> we tried once and got got vetoed >> I I would like to try Yeah, [laughter] >> if it's okay with you guys, I will I will discuss it with Paul and see what we can do. And if we can do it, we'll do it. Uh if we cannot, I'll I'll let you know. But I I will I will find out from legal if we can do it. >> But it's for sure on the agenda, correct? >> We can absolutely put it on the agenda to at least discuss

at the board meeting. For sure. Miss Foy, >> if we're going to put it on the agenda, c can we get some sort of draft of of what it would look like because >> Yeah. Yeah. Because I don't even know. Yes. >> Okay. >> I'm working on it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yeah. We'll we'll put that ahead of the board meeting in board docs and make sure we have at least some kind of draft of what that's going to look like and something to debate and discuss. >> All right. Next comments. Uh uh comments, three minute comments, Mr. Osborne. Um good evening, board president Green, uh board members, Superintendent Jabby, administration. Um thank you all for another year of service. Um I come bearing tidings. So just some quick updates. Um open

enrollment for our dental program is now complete. Um it started October the 6th, it ended December the 5th. It is a um a big undertaking, but my staff agrees to give good customer service to get to 70 locations, including the Giddy Up Cafe in Falsam for our uh transportation folks in the West. Um it's important that we devote that time and energy and resources. Um I wanted to share that our Federation Care Closet has an initiative this holiday season called the season of care project. And I'm going to leave a a few of these flyers for anybody that's interested. It does have a QR code. Um the uh board for the um Care Closet created this to connect um teachers and school employees in our system and also retirees who want to be blessed to

connect them with local donors who can give them a holiday blessing whether it's essential goods or just maybe a gift for their kids. So, if you're interested in um donating or if you would like to be a recipient of that or know somebody who might be interested, the deadline is tomorrow. So, I want to make sure to get that out here tonight um in case we we can pick up a few. Um our goal is to help at least 20. It's it's a new initiative. So, if we can get more, great. Um I did want to show um what this is going to look like. I've mentioned this in the past. Over the summer, they passed a support bill of rights, a support member bill of rights. It says PSRP, that means par profofessional and

support related personnel. Um, the law does require the school district to post these in all of the the work sites. So, the state level union, the LFT is paying for this. So, the law does allow you to take donations monetarily to pay for this or just have an organization give it to you. So, I'm very glad they did a color job. So, our staff will go out in the coming weeks and put this on the federation bulletin boards at all the the work locations. So, Superintendent Jabia check. We got that done. So, um I just wanted to show what that looks like. Um Larry Carter, the president, some of y'all have met him. Um he did some nice remarks. Um I don't have time to read them. So, I will share those with the board.

He did want you to um kind of look at why they invested the money in this, why it was important to fight for this. Um without the LFT, it wouldn't have happened. So, I do appreciate what they did for our support workers. And on behalf of my organization, I would like to wish all of you a merry Christmas. Thank you. >> Merry Christmas. Miss Ruford, >> don't start me yet. Okay, because I'm reading on behalf of someone else. Okay, I guess so. Dear school board members and Mr. Jabia, my name is Victoria Akita. I have a son, Jameson, a junior at Manville High. I apologize that I'm not at this meeting in person tonight. However, I'm in Philly with Jameson at this time because he had a medical procedure this morning. I am writing this

letter and asked Mrs. Rutherford to read into record during public comment at tonight's meeting. I volunteer at both Manaval High and student services and Lake Harbor in the office. I believe in our schools and want to make sure we are meeting all students needs. After the block schedule was announced last year, myself and my husband, an engineer and employee of the oil and gas industry, sat down with the junior counselor to plan Jameson's junior year. We knew he would be taking a heavy load of APs and wanted to request that no one semester was too full of AP classes. I was told that my child is only one kid and they have 500 other kids to worry about. So, this may not be possible with how the schedules work out. I was told it was

not a guarantee that his schedule would be balanced. In August, when we got his course load, he had three APs in the fall along with physics. We talked about this and requested that on level physics because AP was not offered. He moved to the spring. Jameson was excited to take this class, but agreed that it would serve him better to take it later in the year. Imagine my surprise when I was approached by the junior counselor last week and was told that physics would not be offered for the spring semester. This news was unacceptable and I inquired with the counselor what could be done. I was told this class could be taken over the summer possibly, but I would have to look into it myself. I asked if he could take it at another location

and was not given an answer. I requested a meeting with Mr. Mson. We met the next day and he informed me that he was just made aware of this situation. I told him that my son aspires to study engineering in college. I subsequently found out that LSU has dropped physics as a requirement for the students that want to pursue LSU. This is great news. However, my son aspires to attend a different out ofstate university and physics is strongly encouraged. You have a student that wants to make a basic high school science course to take a basic high school science course, sorry, and it is not being offered to him. Mr. Mson said he would work on getting a teacher for next year, but he can't make any promises. My child will already be applying to

schools by that time. I want to give him the best shot, and compared to other students that will be applying to college, no physics class will leave him at a disadvantage. I listened to Mr. Jabia's presentation at one of the schools last year about the millillage renewal and specifically about the STEM center. I emailed some questions to him about the renewal and on March 17th of this year, he responded to the email and answered my questions. After this email response, I championed for the millillage renewal. I told neighbors and friends to vote yes in all caps. My child is one of the students who will be impacted by cutting physics. You now have the opportunity to speed up the timeline of the STEM center idea. Obviously, I know you can't build a STEM center in

weeks, but let's think outside the box and ensure you meet my child's needs. I'm requesting that my son be allowed to take physics at Lakeshore High. It is being offered third block semester. My suggestion is that my son will take this to begin his day at Manville High with two classes and finish at Lakeshore with two classes. It may seem deja vu that the Iikitas are coming to the board about science for our kids. We spoke in front of the board for just a few short years ago about the gifted science being cut. I'm disappointed that I have to come back to this board and request that my child is given a chance to take physics and an alternate site because it isn't offered at his high school. We s we were successful in finding

a short-term fix the last time we were here and I'm hopeful we can find a solution that is agreeable to all parties about this situation. Also, I read this and timed myself and I was only at 2:45. >> No way. [laughter] >> Thank you for your time and attention. Merry Christmas. >> [laughter] >> Thank you, Mford. >> Um, announcements. Friday, December 19th is one half day for students. Uh, schools and sites will be closed December 22nd through January 2nd. Staff returns Monday, January 5th, and students return Tuesday, January 6th. And there's no committee as a whole meeting for January. The board meeting will be on January 15th. And with no further business, this meeting is adjourned.
