I'd like to call the meeting to order. Please join us for the pledge of >> I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Welcome everyone. All right. I'd like to start the meeting by having a motion and a second to accept the agenda for tonight. >> I'll make a second. >> We have a motion in a second. All in favor say I. I. Again, same sign. The agenda is approved. We have no one signed up for open forum. And as you follow along, we are also not doing a Q update um because our UC contractor has bronchitis and cannot join us. So, she will join us in June. So, we'll look forward to that in

June. So, uh we'll move on to the director of business services update. Robin Bos Center director of business services will give us an update. Thank you, Madam Chair. Members of the board, I just have a few things for you tonight. We have our enrollment. I know I said at the work session that we were down 43 students. Well, it changed a little bit this week, so I changed the report because it's only 41. So, we're down 41 for the year at 3159. You can see the graph there. We're kind of leveling out. went down just a little bit. Um, but that's probably where we're where we'll end for the year. And then on the DBS update, we still I still have the original budget in there because you won't have approved the revised budget until

later in the agenda. So, that's still in there. We're still right on track with everything. And you can see by the graphs there that Michelle has up there that our general fund is looking really, really good with revenue over expense, pretty much the same as last year. Food service is a little under, but we have budgeted for that to be under with the big purchases that we made this year. And then community service, again, showing revenue over expense. So, everything's looking pretty good there. And then in our treasures report, um, our cash balance is $18.6 million. I do want to point out, you know, we have our construction fund there with just $71 in it, but with the roofing project, we will actually start using that fund again. So, we'll have some money in there.

We'll have money in there by June and uh then we'll start that roofing project in July. So we have three CDs in there but for our investments and there's any questions I will entertain those now. >> $7144 we could fill a gas tank or something. >> Maybe maybe depends on the vehicle. Depends on the vehicle. But yes >> and that's been just carried forward for a couple years now. We just never closed that. I'm >> no I know. I'm glad we can laugh. Yes. Right. All right. Any questions for Robin on her ups? >> Thanks, Robin. >> You're welcome. >> We have no students present. Sarah, did we hear from our student representatives? >> Yes. So, they might be flying at the moment and then we'll give them time to talk if they have something

to add. All right. So, we'll move on to board committee updates. Um, are there any board committee updates? speaking to the talent that a couple weeks ago was talking about there some some testing changes that are going to change the way we identify students figure those exams so we know we can identify our >> on a local level or like state level statewide test change that is going to make it that the test that will be used as and they're looking at pushing more services into the high school program which is good. >> All right. Any other committees that met? >> On the facilities committee we met. We started the discussions on where we go now. >> Did you have lots of donuts? >> You would need that. Yeah, we would need a lot of

donuts. >> Yes, because we have a lot of work to do. >> Yeah, it's a lot of work to do. So, just starting on that. >> Thank you. >> And health and safety. And the two things I remember is we had a beaver problem in the uh overflow outside the pool area and I did call the DNR. >> Beaver. >> Yeah, we had a be a couple beavers, probably two yearly beavers. So, we were going to get Bob Meyer to trap them. So, I called the DNR. But by the time we got ready to go and you know cuz they cut down all the trees around the area actually we figured it must have migrated out of the area cuz all the food was gone. So it kept our trees down and then we had

a chemical hygiene kind of updating on the chemicals that are sitting place. So I can't remember anything else than those two particular things but so no beaver trapping. I just said I was gonna go, you know, take care of it, but I didn't think it was a good idea to carry a 60 pound beaver outside of that area. We didn't So, the beaver problem took care of itself. >> Great news. Thank you. >> That's an interesting >> That is interesting. >> Couple chuckles. Anyway, >> so >> um this is well this is a committee our committee that negotiates with our non-certified employees did negotiate and we'll see the contract that's attached later but it was just a very positive um experience I think for everyone involved. So, we're just really thankful about the collaboration and

that we came to an agreement in just that one meeting and feel really good about the contract that we came to. So, any other committee updates? Okay. If not, we'll move to Superintendent Deetsz. What do you have for us? >> I said two items. It's sort of traditional that I've done this now in May every year. So, the first one's just a a shout out to our students, our staff, and our parents um and our communities at large as well. You get to the end of the year, you start reflecting on how the year was. I think we had a really, really good year across the board. Just a lot of things that were going well in our schools. Students had really good experiences and you know, we just put a lot of effort into

what we do and sometimes again we just get so far ahead where you're like, "Okay, finish line's there." And we forget about everything that happened along the way. And we I just want to thank people for being present every day. Our kids for just doing the right things on a continuous basis. our staff for coming ready to basically make an impact on our kids' lives. Our parents were being supportive in our communities as well. Um sat in our suit for the soup on Wednesday, had a couple people stop afterwards and talk to me and just brag about the great things our staff does each and every day and just the feeling they have in our district. So it makes you feel good. And again, I think that sometimes we don't talk about that enough. So

I want to make sure people hear that at the end of the year as we sort of close out one and get ready for the next one. there's a lot of great things happening. The other piece tied to that is that I have a student leadership group I meet with um on a regular basis from the high school. It's 16 members, 9th through 12th grade. And uh one of the activities I always do at the end of the year is to have them reflect and give me some information about what do I need to know as superintendent. And one of the questions I asked them about was what are you grateful for this year? I just highlighted a couple things just to sort of paraphrase a little bit what they said, but here's four comments.

One person mentioned they're just grateful for the great people who care about you, that they see it every day when they walk in the buildings, and they feel that that spirit of love and care for the work they do. Another person talked about that there's an overwhelming feel of being welcomed when they walk in the building, that they feel like it's their place to be and that people are seeing them for who they are. Another person mentioned about sort of the field, the entire community with a small town feel with sports and activities that you know that people support because you see it when they come to your games and talk about it in downtown areas and the restaurants at the fast food places, things of that nature. And then the last one is the

supportive community. They talked about there's communities obviously outside that we serve the five communities, but there's also community inside of our house. And I think that was really cool to hear kids talk about that piece. So always amazed that again everyone wants to answer ask a kid and they just they always blow me away with the type of thoughtfulness they have and just the feels that they can sort of share with us that just again reaffirms why we're doing the work we're doing. So just again thanks to everyone for all they've done. It was been it's been a great year. Excited about this summer and starting again next year. >> Oh that's such a nice update. Thank you. >> All right. Um we're going to move on. We have to accept the consent agenda as

presented. Um, so we'll need a motion and a second to accept the consent agenda once you've had a chance to glance at it. Motion agenda. >> We have a motion and a second. Any questions about the consent agenda? If none, um, all in favor say I. >> I. >> Again, same sign. The consent agenda is accepted. under new business. Let's see. We have a number of donations and I will read those. East Central Energy for scholarships, $4,500. L for scholarships, $2,500. The Federated Co-op for scholarships, $2,000. Stacy's Lions Club for scholarships, $2,000. Chas City Fire Department for DECA, $1,800. The Chicago Fire Department for wood shop, $1,500. to Chicago Hockey Association for scholarships, $1,000. The Alma Freshing Company scholarships, uh, $1,000. The CL PTO at the primary for the primary school, $925. And the Chicago

Lakes Good Neighbor Neighbors Club for scholarships, $500. So, um, again, this will be a resolution, but again, just as you were talking about our community, we have such a supportive community. It feels like so many nights I sit here and read all of these donations that people are willing to give, particularly towards our scholarship program, and we're just grateful. >> So, um, we'll need a motion and a second and then we'll do a roll call vote. >> We have a motion by Sarah and a second by Josh. Sarah, would you start our resolution? Sarah I >> Josh, >> Jen I >> and Lori I. >> Okay, let's see. We're moving on to our revised budget that Robin mentioned earlier. Thank you, Madam Chair, members of the board. As you know, every year we revise our

budget. I thank you for your patience. I don't usually wait till May to do this, but um things got in the way and I wanted to make sure that we were done with our teachers contract and got all that in and had that in the budget. So, you know, in June we start with a lot of estimates, a lot of assumptions. Uh so revising this budget brings our revenues and expenses much closer to actual. And so, you know, a revised budget is an adjusted version of that original budget and reflects a lot of these changes that we have. unexpected expenses, changes in funding, changes in our enrollment, unfortunately, and then a contract and settlement with our teachers contract. So, if we look at the four um funds that are not the general fund, I'll talk

about these first. Um very slight changes in any of these funds. We have our revenue expense in food service going up, both both of them going up. Um on the expense side, you know, we bought those freezers and cafeteria tables, but our revenue went up slightly, too. um ending at that $35,726 as a deficit. So, we planned for that. It still leaves our fund balance pretty healthy. And I'll show that again. In our community service fund as well, both expenses and revenue went up and most of those changes were in the early childhood family education and school readiness programs ending at just about $135,000 change in that fund balance as well. Debt service, just bringing those to actual little slight change in that ending fund balance as well. And then the scholarship fund, we have

so little control over that that just trying to bring those into actual as well with a um a chain a deficit in that fund balance as well. But there is a fund balance there. >> So Robin, can I just ask question when you said community service was mainly due to the early childhood area? >> Yes. >> So was there unexpected revenue in that area or unexpected expenses? >> There was a little of both. Yep. A little of both. Very slight changes though. So nothing even really to just just bringing it closer to actual in those areas. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yep. of course. Um, so then if we look at the changes or the estimated fund ending fund balances in there, we're still at $1.1 million in food service, which is about 41% of

a fund balance, which is very healthy. Community service just a little over a million at 33% and then debt service at just under $2 million in that fund balance. And it leaves a scholarship fund with still some funds. Also, just remember those are just donations that we take in and then we write checks to the to the colleges for those students and their scholarships. So, it's just a flow through on on our end. So, the changes in the general fund, we had some changes in enrollment. Unfortunately, that was a decrease. Um, summer unemployment, we got better numbers on that and it's actually going to be covered again for this year. So, we got that. Uh, compensatory aid, there was an increase in compensatory aid and then a slight increase in student support aid, too. These

were things that we just didn't know in June when we created that budget. Expenditure changes obviously bringing those closer to actual with our change with our settlement of some contracts and then changes in our insurance and then we had some uh slight increase in some special ed student uh supplies and then some decreases in general supplies. So what what does that do for our general fund? Uh we have 48 almost 48.2 $1 million in revenue and 47.8 in expenditures with a positive um balance there of $389,000 in total. what that does to our different fund balances. It increased the unassigned fund balance by about $190,000 bringing that to 3.376 and an increase in the restricted but of course there was a decrease in LTFM a decrease in capital decrease in literacy a but then an

increase in our assigned fund balance and we talked about that um with our mindful planning bringing those assigned fund balances and so putting some more money into some of those things. So, what that does for our general fund keeps us right at that 7.06% that we're hoping that's where we'll end at the end of the year. Of course, the dollar amount changes because of our expenditures going up changes that percent. So, that was really quick. Anybody have any questions on think we're ending where we planned hoped to be at the end of the year. >> Very good planning. It's not much changes. >> No. >> Can I ask about grade? So, um, with the legislature, where did that land? Are they going back to families having to fill out forms and then we have to

try to chase? No. So, >> but we are we will see a decrease next year. At least the numbers that I've seen so far, they just, you know, the session just ended and the increase I or the we will see a decrease. >> I don't know. I'd have to look it up really quick. >> Today, I'll have that in the in next >> that was like low six digits is what it is. But, I mean, they could talk about today staff as well. and they said they're basically using two variables to determine what your uh what your allocation is going to be. And the people from MD talked openly about the fact there are winners and there are losers in this situation. And they gave some examples of some districts that actually gained 5 million

and others have lost 5 million. So it it's >> Yeah, >> we're going to lose compared to this this year to next year probably about 160,000 go down. >> Okay. Thank you. Yep. I was just curious where that was at. I lost track. At least that's what my elers's office. >> Yes, please. >> I just want to again I think in the spirit of this today, I want to just give gratitude to Robin and her entire department team made she's worked hard all her time here, but I mean we've really worked hard the last three years to get to a new place. and Rob that good work and I'm just really grateful for all she does to not only just make sure that she manages the budget but she takes time to understand it as

well and you don't get to this type of stuff unless you know what you're doing and Robin's been a great partner doing that so I just want to thank you and your entire team for all the work you do >> I would echo that there's been years we haven't been sitting here with the 7% fund balance and it hasn't been very long so appreciate their leadership this area thank you >> welcome So, um, if there's no more questions about the budget, we are going to have to make a motion and a second to accept this revised budget. >> Make a motion to accept the revised budget. >> We have a motion. >> Second. >> We have a second. Any more questions? All in favor say I. >> I. Again, same sign. Thanks again, Robin. >>

You're welcome. >> Um, okay. So, they have a resolution and someone maybe can give a better explanation than I can, but um to open an account with Persing and Robin, is there more you can tell us about this? Sure. This is just it's another for another vehicle for us to invest money. It's actually through Ellers. They can invest our bond proceeds if we wish. We can also I was talking to um Brian at Elmer's today too. outside of this side, it's the other side, the investment side of them and maybe looking at some different vehicles to invest some of our funds in. So, it just seems a resolution. >> Yep. Just more options. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Um and this is also a resolution, but are there any other questions? >> But I'll make

a motion that we accept um adding Persing by Solutions. We'll need a second and then we'll do a roll call. Second and sir I >> Josh I >> John I >> Jeff I >> and Lori I thanks for the explanation. >> Okay. Now we're on to the bond sale. Do you guys want to come up and talk about what how the sale went today? >> How's it going? Yep. Welcome Jod and Jack from Ellers. Yes, there are rubs. So, >> nice to see you again. And Jack is one of our newest members on our education team. So, we're happy to have him here tonight. He's been following this all along from the beginning, you know, into the details. I'm really happy with the results that we got today. So, I will start with um will

you this show up on the the sale or no? Should I just speak to it? >> I don't think so. It's just Okay. Is that what you want? >> Yeah. So, just a little bit of background information. These bonds are be being issued to finance broking projects and you're allowed to do that now because of the action taken by the legislature in 2025. So, districts have been asking for this authority for a number of years because it's critical to have um roofs protecting the investment that your communities have already made in your facility. So, if you get water in your building or anything like that, that can cause a big mess. So I think they've been talking about that forever and finally recognized how critical um financing the roofs are to school districts. So luckily

you have that authority now along with all the other districts. So there's lots of roofing projects being done across the state. So the um we did get four bids on your bond sale today. And I should mention that the rating at the top there under the Minnesota State Credit Enhancement Program S&P assigns you the exact same rating that they give to the state of Minnesota which is a AAA. That's the highest rating that they give. And then your underlying rating was affirmed at an E level also. And thanks to Robin for her participation in that process. They It's kind of like going through a like an interrogation session. They ask her lots of questions and she fires back answers and um >> with their support with your support. I appreciate that. >> Yes. But yeah,

she did an awesome job of representing your uh district as you can imagine. So, super helpful to maintaining that nice um a rating. So, bear was the winning bidder. They um had a rate of 3.63 roughly and they've been out of their Milwaukee office. And then next, the next lowest bidder. So, second was FHN Capital Markets out of Memphis, Tennessee at a 3.64. If you want to scroll down, we've got a couple more. So there's FHN and then TD Financial Products out of New York and Huntington out of Chicago at 3.65 and 3.68. So nice tight bidding which it gives us confidence that we are got the best rate that we could for you in the market today and we felt good about that. So then we have some financial schedules included and I think

you've seen some of these in the past. They're just updated now with the results of the of the bids. But the par amount is 4.9 million as authorized by the board. And um uh we will be using funds on hand in your debt service fund. So you just saw the information in your budget about your debt service fund. You do have a balance in your debt service fund in the fund balance. So we'll use that to make the first interest payment that'll be due next February. And then after that, we'll pay this off over 11 tax levies. And that coincides with the remaining uh payments that you have on your existing debt. So I think let's see that is primarily the uh highlights that we have. I don't know if you have your sale day

report the chart looks like this now. So you can see the existing debt and the gray bars and the uh roofing bonds then kind of layered on top of that and keeping a nice level tax rate then while your existing debt is outstanding. >> And I can I'll send that to you to the board. Thank you, Robbie. >> Yep. >> And then the resolution itself just mirrors the results that we received. So, you'll see the um the bids um that were just shown and then um the different principal maturities, interest rates, that sort of thing. So, we are happy to answer any questions that you might have related to the results. We very much appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you again and we're glad that things turned out so well. Are there

any questions? >> This is going to come out 2037. >> The final levy is >> final levy is um calendar year 2037. So payments will go through fiscal year 2037 2038. And that's exactly what your existing debt when your existing debt is paid off to any further questions. Thank you very much for being here tonight and for all of your work on our behalf. We appreciate it. Um, so hearing no other questions, we do need to we need a resolution. We need to pass this resolution about the 4.9 million in general obligation and facilities maintenance bonds. So, we'll need a motion and we'll do another roll call vote. Um, I'll make a motion to accept this resolution. I'll second it. Sarah, can we start with you, please? I >> Jeff I >> and Lori I.

Thank you very much. >> Great. Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay, we are going to move on to the the lease with um script the script. Is someone going to speak to this one >> or it's an annual document that um we bring to you every year and Rob correctly there's no changes on this one. >> No changes. >> Okay. >> Are there any questions about it? If not, we need a motion and a second to accept the new collect piece. >> I'll make a motion to accept the new collect piece. We have a motion. Do we have a second? >> I'll second it. >> We have a motion. Second. All in favor say I. I. >> Again, same sign. The collect piece is accepted. Uh looks like we have a new arena contract to

talk about. Do you have things to highlight on this? I'll just let you know that again we we spent a lot of time just going through the contract and um getting some language adjustments in that we thought were appropriate. Our attorney had a chance looked that over and have been a good conversation dialogue with the arena board. I want to thank Jodie for her work and working with them on this. Um I think the the big one always that probably is a highlight in this is you look at the ice rate fees like the the hourly rate and it's commensurate with where some of our their comparables are was increase I believe $10 from the year before to this year wise relatively speaking everyone else wants to be standard for >> there any other questions

about the new ice arena contract? If none, we need a motion and a second to accept the arena contract. >> I make a motion to accept the CL arena contract. >> I'll second it. Any questions? If not, all in favor say I. I. >> I. Again, same sign. The arena contract is accepted. Um, we're moving on to the new Iowa and Iowa proxy, which has nothing to do with Iowa, correct? But I know we see it every year. It's about access to information and giving the right of that access to certain people in the school district. Correct. Correct. >> Okay. So, looks like we're giving access to superintendent >> And Michelle. Okay. So, we need a motion and a second to approve this as presented. But are there any questions about the item one proxy?

If none, I'll make a motion to accept. Second. >> Have a motion to second. Any questions? If not, all in favor say I. >> I. >> Against. Same sign. The proxy are accepted. All right. Let's see. Okay. Data privacy officer. Um, looks like once again, okay, so we're make we're accepting Corey Becker as the data privacy officer. >> So, we need a motion in the second. Is this a change or just something we do want to talk about real quick? >> Okay. >> Yeah. Someone has to do every year. We just have to assign someone to be our democrat through me to make sure we're in compliance. So, >> perfect. Okay. Any other questions? If not, we need a motion and a second to accept Cory Becker as the data privacy offer officer for the

school district. I'll make a motion. We have a motion. Do we have a second? >> A second. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Again, same sign. The motion is accepted. All right. We're moving on to some MLUs with PLM for teachers union. one regarding mentoring and one regarding preschool. >> I got lost. I'm gonna sit down for a bit here. >> Okay. >> Have a seat. Get comfortable. Okay. >> All right. So, the twous I will start with the mentoring one. As we know um through our instructional coaches being hired, they have changed the compensation um through the group that um voted on it to on how they will compensate mentors. And currently in our contract, our QM contract, there is a breakdown of how they are paid. So we had to create

an MO on how they're going to be paid under the new structure we have. Um so um this is just reflecting the new structure as we have with instructional coaches. Um so that way it will supersede what is in the contract current. So and then the second one um is for preschool teachers starting in 2028. um they have to be licensed and we recently got more information of what that license will look like. Um and one of the challenges that we'd all face is how do you get licensed teachers in here um when they aren't necessarily on the full certified schedule. Um so we were trying to find a difference on individuals that are licensed and will hold the specific licenses that are required for their child living in preschool um requirements come 2028 because

there will be a separation between the ones that have the license and have completed degree and the ones that will be what they would consider grandfathered in. They will have a separation of what that license looks like. So, we wanted to establish something now as we're going through the hiring process um to see if we can start recruiting at that level of of the licensing that we need. So, there's four very specific ones and I'm going to mess them up so I'm not even going to try. It's like early childhood, pre primary, prek, and then it has kindergarten and pre kindergarten. Um so, it's listed very specific in there. And then any individuals that uh do not hold those licenses, um they will call them exempt teachers in 2028. Um so we we thought we'd

take the proactive step now to board the individuals that do have that seed due process as well if we can get individuals with the licensing um as we were we will no longer be at a point where if someone starts this year that they would be grandfathered in in 2028 if they do not have the license. >> So is that totally grandfathered is working if I was already working before the beginning of next year I'm grandfathered? >> No, you have to have five years. Oh, if you've worked for >> in preschool specifically, preschool early childhood specifically >> um in order to be grandfathered in. So, >> but they'll be required to be licensed. >> Yeah. >> Or or grandfathered. >> You're saying you're treated differently if you were grandfathered versus if you have the license.

>> Yeah. Because one one will be considered an exempt teacher and the other one is has the PEL license. >> And is the pay different or how are you treated differently? >> So, and when I say treated differently, it will be a different pay. created the bas contract this last round of negotiations. Essentially what we did is we just said anyone with that licensing is going to follow the ECF schedule uh that we already have in the contract which just follow uh BA plus zero on the certified schedule. So they just follow that for their hourly rate versus being on the preschool schedule. So it just kind of adds an addendum to two separate schedules that were already established. >> Okay. There any other questions about either the mentoring or the preschool MLUS that we'll

take separately in a moment? Okay. Um since it's on our paperwork that the preschool is first, can we get a motion in the second to accept the preschool as presented to me? >> I so move. >> Second it. I have a motion second. All in favor say I. I >> again same sign that preschool passes and now the second one is the mentoring. We'll need a motion and second to accept that one. >> Madam chair >> at least once a night. >> I'm doing right. I make a motion to accept the mentoring. >> I'll second it. Thank you. >> All in favor say I. >> I. >> Again, same sign. Um the mentoring passes. Thank you. All right, we have some first reads. >> No, 284 is not in your notes, but it's on our

agenda. >> Oh, but it's on the agenda, but it's not here. Okay, that's okay. >> Let's That's important, too. So, we need to accept the contract with our local 284. Um, Corey, were you going to give some highlights? >> YAY. We're so glad to see you and we'll let you talk in just a minute. We're in the middle of accepting a contract, but we're glad to see you. >> Coach Carlson, nice to see you. >> All right. Uh, so the the contract, Cory, what do you have? >> Yeah. So, I I mean, I think the big thing I'm not going to say too much on it, but um, you know, we were very thankful obviously for that came together. I think uh, as mentioned earlier, it was a pretty positive process as as we sat

in there and one week, we did get it done in. Um, just some numbers for you guys. it did come out to 8.47% total package and they were $4,000 under the budget amount that we did give them. Um so with that we did provide the number beforehand to them and just said here's what we budgeted for it and then the proposal they brought back um fit within that criteria. So I think uh Superintendent Deetsz has a little bit more to say so I'll turn it over to him. >> Yeah, just tell what Lori and also you just said too is that it just was a really good process and we're just grateful for that piece. They came with a very reasonable offer. We had a good conversation and we're just really excited about the opportunity

to get this done. Sat down for about an hour and a half and feel really good about, you know, getting a good contract done for them and moving it forward. So, just grateful for their time and all the effort they put in because it takes both sides to make it work. So, we're just grateful for that time >> and no retro. >> No, guess. >> Exactly. There's one more step. >> Yes. So, I already spoke to the collaboration just how nice it was. Um, just I think just the realization that the school district leadership really does want to do the right things for our employees and I think we we worked it out where we felt like we were we were being fair. They stayed within the parameters and um I think it was a

really excellent contract. So, I'm just really happy about it. So, if there's no other question or there could be questions. Are there any questions? If not, um, we need a motion and a second to accept the new local 284 contract. I'll make a motion to accept. >> I'll second it. >> Um, we have a motion, a second. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Again, same sign. The contract is accepted. All right. We have an option here. We can go back to the student update or we can finish our work and go to the student update. Um, I'll let you guys take a breather and think about all the wonderful things you're going to say and we'll talk about we'll get through what we need to do when but we're close and you guys

can warm up a minute and take a breath. >> Okay. So, we have two policies that we have first reads on our wellness policy and our debt compliance policy. So, Corey, can you talk to us a minute about those? >> Yeah. So, the wellness policy essentially um right now I think we have like a 16 or 17 page documents and as we continue to morph into more of the what the MSBA policies and how they're formatted are um I did ask the wellness policy to put together something that was similar to what MSBA had to make sure what the law required of us um along with what MD requires on their side for wellness policy as well. So, they did a great job put it all together, got everything that they wanted. It's been a

long time since it's been updated anyways. Um, so it just fits the format better. I think it's only what three pages now versus 17, which is great. That's a lot easier to update. Um, so that that was an important one um to get done just because it is required by law for us to have it in there and the components that are in there are required as well. So um and then the 722 policy, this is a brand new policy for debt compliance. Um, this was actually written by Ellers who was here. Um, it was part of the bond selling the bonds and getting our bond rating. That was a specific question that was asked throughout if we had this policy and it was recommended. We did look at other districts around us. They had

the exact same policy, the exact same language essentially. Um, it just helps us get better bond ratings and kind of >> and it's required by the IRS. >> Yeah. >> So, we should >> I think that kind of says it all right there. The IRS and we found out as we went through this whole reading. >> Yeah, makes sense. So yeah, Ellers wrote it >> and Robin's gonna be more familiar with it than I will be, but it is a brand new policy. So >> great. So these are first reads, so we'll have time to read them more closely and they'll come back in our June meeting for a vote. >> Okay. Can I ask the wellness policy doesn't have anything about mental wellness in there? Is that typical? I'm not part of >> Yeah,

that that'd be pretty typical just just because the resources would come from me to staff and it's a different procedure for um students to staff. So, >> good question though. All right. So, we'll hear more about that and and vote on those in June. Um, next we actually need a resolution calling for election because every four years we need to call for election to replace schoolboard members and there's three seats that are open for re-election. Um, and so the general election will be called and will be held in conjunction with the state general election on Tuesday um the 3rd day of November 2026. So, we need a motion and it's a second to accept this call for election and then we'll do a roll call vote. So, I will make a motion call for this

election for school board members. >> I'll second it. >> Can we start with you again, Sarah? >> Sarah, Joshua, >> Brenda, I >> Jen I, >> and Lori I. >> All right. Um, we do need to talk about that the June board games, but we'll see if that helps out. >> Okay. >> Welcome. You guys have been playing a little softball today. >> Yes. >> Yeah. And how did it go? >> It went great today. >> Both of our games won >> one of our games. >> WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED? WE ARE THE ONE THAT MATTERED AGAINST NORTH France and that's what they forgot their loss because they branch. I'm not kidding. >> I was LIKE WE'RE NOT OUT YET. I don't know why I thought that we we lost >> cuz the wind felt so

good. The wind felt so good. >> It did. >> Okay. >> No, we lost pretty bad actually. I don't know how they're still >> rock has eight seniors and they're on a mission. >> Yeah. >> So, we lost Rock Bridge in one. >> Okay. Well, it was a winning day then. We'll call it a winning day. And so, what happens next? Who would like to speak about this? >> Great. >> I'm sorry. Oh, will we play again next Tuesday against? >> I swear to God. YES. >> Tell me different things. I THOUGHT IT was play against Denfeld next Tuesday. >> Clo again. >> Oh yeah. Third, fourth time. Third time. >> So you guys have traveled, >> but you're still hanging in there. How it goes. >> Okay, that's awesome. games are left >> four

out of eight. >> So two will be eliminated on Tuesday. So we have to battle back. >> We just knocked out >> since the semiinal is on. >> If you win, you're in the sectional. >> No, we have to win twice to be in the final. Oh, >> sure. You're not doing our schedule. >> WE HAVE UP for 12 hours straight. Right. We have a whiteboard. >> I I've been up since this time 12 hours. So I think >> we had to leave at 6:45 this morning. >> Oh, so I'll catch you a break. >> I'm not sure. >> All right. Are there any updates besides your softball? >> Yes. Do you want to go first? >> Um, sure. Okay. Okay. Well, while we're on the topic of sports, um I just wanted to sort

of plug girls lacrosse right now. Varsity remains, I think, the only undefeated lacrosse team in the state. >> So, which is pretty amazing. I bet they'll go back to state this year. They're they're doing great. They've got a couple college commits, like actually kind of a lot. I think there's three or four. >> Anyway, so they're really doing well. Um track just had their conference meet yesterday. I don't actually know how it went, but I don't know. I bet we did fine last year. Girls are usually pretty good. They I think they're off to true team state or they won true team state. I Yeah, I don't actually know. But girls are doing pretty good. I don't know about um occasionally talk about student. >> Oh, yeah. I was on here. Um so for student

council recently um we got all our elections out so we have the new people and um we had a very successful staff appreciation week and we had what's called the Wallally's awards where we give um awards to teachers they come down the red carpet and then we had a successful mental health week um where we had lots of things like we sold t-shirts we had activities and we had a mental health speaker come in and People really seem to like him. Also with that, we got the senior shirts finalized and people had to buy them. It's um a cars design. So it's like the cars logo >> from the movie. >> Yeah. From the movie. Ah. So yeah, that's student council. >> Um I guess one more thing on student council is this is more

my seniors and student counselor are putting on a senior week kind of. It's a little like we organized it, but it's not an official student council event anymore just because we weren't able to book the park. But we're still going to try to see if people can go. And we're going to host a senior sunset at Beach Park. Beach Park. I guess I shouldn't say we're going to host it. We're going to be there with hot dogs for people to grill. >> Yes. So, um, other than that, there's been a couple other like senior sendoffy things like people like to do pause parties and everyone's wearing their college care to school. >> Very fun. >> Yeah, I think the year is coming to a good close. I will say these next this week and next

week and then even the two days um and well, no, I guess week is pretty stressful because of like finals and stuff like that. So, we're kind of getting down to the wire, but no, I think people are all pretty ready for summer. >> Yeah, people are excited and now that the weather's nice, like during lunch, everyone's going outside and playing hacky sack. And >> that's a big >> feels good. >> You know, hacky sack made a comeback. >> Yeah. >> Our softball team is bad at it, but we love it. >> All right. >> And then choir and band also just had their last concerts. I think jazz band's last concert is tonight. Choirs was last week, Wednesday. um band like whole band their last concert was this past so I don't know just

all the little >> graduation very soon >> very soon >> we'll be there >> and this is probably your last school board meeting unless you'd like to keep coming through the summer even though >> I can't I'll be gone backpacking in Alaska so >> you are good before you head off to college >> if you don't mind. Would you like to share your plans for after graduation? >> Sure. So, this summer, well, this summer, I'm headed off to Gates of the Arctic up in Alaska for a backpacking trip. It's through um a summer camp up in Elie called Would You Mogan. It's a YSA based summer camp. They do wilderness excursions. So, I'll be up there from well, I leave home I think June 15th to and then I get home August 5th. Um so,

I'll probably be backpacking for about a month in between that time. And then in the fall, I'm headed off to the University of St. Andrews over in Scotland for an international relations program. >> Well, I want to personally thank you for your service on the school board >> because it says something about you that you're >> in there with your voice trying to improve our school community and we've appreciated your voice very much and your suggestions. So, thank you so much for that. >> Thank you. >> Oh, yeah. It's been great getting to know you. You're a wonderful human. So, is there anyone else who wanted to say anything to Anukica? >> I was at the choir concert one day. I usually try to always get the choir concert. I guess looking at you that

you played softball that you've been musicals, choir, band, you know, it was just I just really enjoy the choir and the band concerts and that we have the ability in our school which I think is a fairly decent sized school that you get to not just do one track and you get to enjoy a lot of different opportunities and both of you really great advantages of those things. So, and when Jackie announced, she kind of also shared a number of AAA awards, people that were in a athletics had received awards across the board, had done well, not only in so ensemble and some things like that, but also in sports and state awards and things like that. So, I just uh I just love the many opportunities that we provide kids that you two I've

watched many many times over the years and really enjoy that and glad we have that opportunity in our school to provide all of those different avenues and combined avenues for kids to help themselves. >> Two great examples of those opportunities. >> Most over booked people you'll ever meet. a little over booked. Yeah. >> I didn't get to tell you also uh you guys Anakah, she sings our national anthem at every game. So, she got to sing it today at the park with everybody there. And I had multiple people want to tell you congratulations. >> Yeah. >> So brave. >> Well, I think you did fairly well in your state competitions, too. Correct. >> Oh, for so long. >> Like like a perfect score. >> Yes. I did get a perfect score. It's alone ensemble. Um,

so it's ranked out of 40 points. There's I think eight categories and you can get up to five in each. Um, and from there you're ranked in like a a category. If you get a 35 or higher, you're ranked as a superior. Um, I think it's 30 to 35. You get excellent. The next bracket below that is fine. I don't really know. >> Good. And then fine. Um, we both got superiors at the soul and ensemble. And then I did walk away as a perfect score of >> congratulations. Congratulations. >> All right. And I hope you can enjoy all the finishing touches this next week. It's going to go really fast. >> Yeah. >> Well, thank you again for serving. Thank you again for being here. You'll be the senior leader next year and we'll

get you a junior partner and continue on. And go softball. Just keep with me. >> All right. >> It's a good mindset, RIGHT? >> I felt like I was >> You've got a good attitude going here, coach. Everyone's feeling really good. >> All right. We do need to talk about the June work. Um, we have a couple of conflicts for some of us and there's some important business we're taking care of. So, we were hoping that we could change the date. So, we should bring our calendars and see if we can make that date change. Superintendent De, what did you want to suggest? I know you had something in mind for combining >> try to remember all the stuff we talked about the work session. >> Okay, I can try. >> Were we looking at

that? >> June 11th. Yeah, the 8th. So, that June 11th >> and I think we talked about Monday or is that my dreams? Was it Monday we talked about or just anything on the the Oh, >> I can't do it. Yeah, that's >> Oh, that's what it was. So, we were actually in front of everybody. >> The 11th >> and didn't we discuss maybe having our work session? >> Yeah, the daily double is going to be we'll go back to back if you're okay with that. We'll put the work session before we're going to have Nexus come out and talk as well as Ellis >> on the we move everything so it be like >> Yeah. No, >> correct. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And you'll be here. I'll be here at the 11th. >>

I had a fun evening planned three hour meeting he was planning. Yeah. I mean I hate to burst your bubble sometime. I'll just let you do >> the works better than me. >> It does. >> Oh, good. Everyone's happy about the challenge. So we So we'll need a motion in a second to change the meeting. >> Can can you do it for both session and the meeting? >> How about block >> is it 6 o' we don't need two hours and a half. >> Let's go an hour and a half from work session. So 4:30 6 work session and then regular time 6 o' >> 4:30. So, we need a motion to accept. Do I need two different folks? I can come back here. >> So, we need a motion and a second to change

our next board work session and board meeting so that they're both on Thursday, June 11th from 4:30 to 6 for the work session and then from six to the unknown for the regular board. >> I'll make a motion to change. I will second it. >> We have a motion. We'll second. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Again. Same sign. Motion is passed. So the meeting has changed to June 11th. Thank you for the flexibility. >> Um Madame Chair, I think what did I do? >> We may have missed something. >> Okay. >> Um were we supposed to do the resolution on non-renewing probationary teachers? Um, from what I understand that that can be a part of the consent agenda. So they put it in the consent agenda. Okay. >> Yeah. So it might

be not. >> Okay. >> Are we good or is there a problem? >> The only we're talking about is the principal contract. We're hoping to have the principal chosen by next week and that the person would accept. >> Okay. >> They're going earlier than I thought. So, we could wait till the 11th, but we also thought about get it in earlier and do a meeting. There's a lot of variables and we don't know who the person is going to be if they're available. >> What days don't we do? We have to post it like three days. Three days before. >> Yeah. >> So, once you have more information >> about that, >> then contact us. >> Yeah. We talk to all let you know >> and what we've typically done with those is like have

a really early meeting so people can get on with their work days or whatever works for the majority of the board. We have to have >> 5:30 in the morning. >> Excellent. So more to come on setting a special. >> Okay. So uh if there's nothing further actually there are a few things. Don't forget we have to be at graduation everybody and we have to meet in the office 15 to 30 minutes before get prepped >> from 30 days. We have our staff wild award dinner next week on Wednesday at the UNC and it'd be nice if we could represent as many as us that can make it. Um is there any other events that we should? I mean, tomorrow we have our anno staff recognition celebration as well. If you want to get there

at 7:15 in the morning, we're going to be doing that. Start the morning off and have the Okay, I think that's it then. All right. So, we need a motion and a second to >> adjourn. Do we have a second? >> We have a second. All in favor say I. >> I. >> Um, again, same sign. The meeting is adjourned. Thank you.
