start in January or something. I mean, >> obviously few. >> Yeah. >> A little ways away, but it's going to come quick. >> Yeah. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation indivisible with liberty and all approval of minutes. Second that. There any discussions or questions? Okay. All those in favor? >> I oppose. Approval of claims. Valley. Is the power bill about the same as it always is or is it been sneaking up? >> It's about the same it always is. >> Okay. >> It's usually less in the spring a little bit. >> Yeah. >> Than it is in the winter because the gym lights aren't on as much. >> Yeah. It's about the same. No, I think we have another
question. All those in favor >> oppose. >> Okay. Public comment on agenda items. Communications to and from the board. Um first I'm just going to mention that this would have been Brad's last meeting which being brought here. So anyway, he's retiring after 20ish years on the board, we think. >> Don't have the exact date. >> It's only 19. >> 18. Okay. Still pretty close. So there we go. >> So we'll be sad to see him gone. Miss him. Um I also have a communication from Lucy Johnson. It's about the Leo team that traveled to the annual Montana Lions Club. And we'll go ahead and send that around. And basically um Harry sent this out, you know, um I think this is part of what she sent to the what he sent to the paper. It
was in the paper about the we had these two Leo's Club members went to the state Lions Club convention. So I just thought I would share it with you here. And I've got some when I send out my uh board report, there's some pictures of the girls when they were at that convention. The other one I had uh was pain by phone message. Actually, Karen Wellman called uh after uh and I'm going I'll talk a little bit more about Longhorn Day in my report, but Karen Wellman called regarding Longhorn Day, and she called to give a shout out to the grade 8 class and she said they cleaned up around the fort and she said, and I quote, "What great workers and positive attitudes. They're going to be a real bonus to Fort Maton High
School. It was a great day and very beneficial." So, I thought it was really kind of her to do that. So, I thought I would share that with the board tonight as well. >> And that's all I have for communications. Um so the board chairs report um we need to swear in new board members. So you have time to stand up >> hold your hand after me. >> I do solemnly swear >> I doly swear >> that I will support >> protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. and the Constitution of the United States >> and the Constitution of the State of Montana >> and the Constitution of the State of Montana >> and that I will discharge the duties of my office with fidelity. >> I will discharge the >> duty of
office >> fidelity. Okay, that is it. And then at the end of the meeting, I'll have you all signed. >> Congratulations. >> I'll get better. Okay. The election of board leadership. I don't think there will be any changes this year unless anyone objects. Um I will remain chairperson and Darren will be vice chairperson. Um we do need to appoint the clerk. Is that just a motion? >> Yep. >> So moved >> count second. >> All those in favor I >> opposed. Okay. Um, with Brandt retiring, I do have some changes to the committees, which I have already spoken with everybody on the changes. Um, if I didn't reach out to you, you're still on the same committees. I just had to move around a couple things. So, um, if you do have any questions or
concerns with that, just um, come see me afterwards. And then elementary principles report. So, uh, Roxy's not able to be here tonight, but she sent an email to you with her report. And a couple things I would just highlight from that report. Uh, Greg Iverson, your superintendent high school high school principles here. We able we were able to attend the April Elementary assembly. Had some fun guessing items inside of some boxes. It was really fun. And so that was on April 30th. Um, and uh, on Monday we have this grade six leaveup day. sixth graders will be coming over to our campus and spending some time with us getting used to their new stomping grounds next year. And um unless you have any other questions, I would just draw your attention to her email. >>
Okay, Russ, it's your turn. >> Mine will be about as quick as that one. Um good evening. As we start out, um we all know that we um are approaching the looking for um people to work in the school and the cleaning areas and custodial help. Um and I hope that you know we get that resolved. Um but as we get into that, I like to thank all the teachers once again and the students that are helping out. Larry um came in last Friday and did the the upstairs area up here. Um, Cali and and uh Connie and Roxy are helping down on this end of the building and trying to do, you know, what they can um and and that's appreciated. And of course, everybody, like I said, everybody's just grabbing something and helping
and and moving the garbages and stuff like that. So, we are we are making progress towards keeping the building going, but um it'd be a lot better if somebody was here. Um we're looking right now to set up a meeting um within the next week with Milk River um between Gary and myself um just to go over parameters of the uh continuation of the project. I hope that we start on June 3rd. Um June 2nd we have the election in the gym and I really don't want anybody in the school. Um it just just needs to be quiet and um let the election go on and that's just a couple days that's a Tuesday so they can start on Wednesday and they can be down in the shop and moving the stuff out of the
shed and stuff like that. But as far as being in the area or u facilitating anything to start pulling stuff apart, we're just not going to do that till the third or fourth. um working on the outside stuff. Um we've had a lot of events as you all know. Um and a lot of you are attending those. Graduation is May 24th, 2 p.m. in the gymnasium and uh we hope everything is all set up and ready to go. Um lots of small stuff going on and we're working with Carly right now on tech. Um Carly and I will be doing uh the wire installation on the Cat 6 um for the Wii locations in both schools. And um so we've got maps going and we're kind of working on that daily as as what we
want to do and how we're going to approach the getting that taken care of. She can feed the wire and I can run the wires and um by doing it ourselves, we'll save a lot and she'll learn a lot of locations and stuff like that. So, um, but now it's just daily business questions. >> Thanks, R. >> Thank you. >> Hello. It is a beautiful day out there. Um it's been actually a pretty good spring so far as far as um getting to travel and compete. So that's good. I know I know we need the rain and the moisture, but the events have done fairly well once we've gotten rolling. Um first I want to give some thank yous. One to student council. They stepped up during Longhorn day and helped. I came back to
some clean weight rooms and locker rooms. And so that was very much appreciated of the effort that they put in to getting those um back to where where we love them to be. Uh Paul for putting up with all my requests and accommodations. Um I always seem to maybe forget something or change something and he's very good at at getting us where we need to be. So thank you. And then to our staff for the flexibility because as nice of a spring it's been it's just always chaos. There's a lot going on. There's always seems to be things changing for some reason or another. So, um, everybody rolls with it and I appreciate it. We have, like Russ said, a lot of stuff that has happened and a lot of stuff coming up. So, band,
if you are free and available Thursday night in the high school gym, there will be the band and art show at 6:00 p.m. So, come and check out all that wonderfulness. golf wrapped up their uh division today, their divisional today. They played over in Wolf Point and they're on their way home right now. Um the boys had to battle through some pretty nasty weather and 45 mph winds yesterday. It was a tough day of golf for them. Uh the girls today, all four of them uh placed in the top 20 and will be moving on to state and they took they're bringing home the third place divisional trophy. So, that was down to the wire and uh pretty exciting to learn that that was what they earned. They go to state in Billings next Monday
through Wednesday. Tennis is on their last regular season weekend this weekend and then they'll move on to their divisionals in Great Falls. As for track, we finished our regular season and we're headed into postseason and we will compete in our district meet this Saturday in Great Falls and we will it was decided finally head to Glasgow for our divisionals. Um I know I think I told you the story of the unknown but we now have a destination and then middle school track is finishing up this week. The sixth graders got to have their very own meet today which was pretty cool up in Shelby and then the whole team will finish up at their meet on Friday. >> So you can go to Glasco instead of Fairview. >> Yes. So I'll take it was in
the mix for a while. I was really rooting for that one but >> we lost that. So, um, as far as that, I think that's my general up. Well, I guess I can skip to this. Um, I just wanted, you know, we've been busy. I appreciated the clean up in the wait room because there has been uh quite a bit of mess left in the wait room after hours, and I want to give a big shout out to some of our community members who have been using it because they've been great at helping me clean up the mess. there's been um everything's just been left out everywhere. Uh plates uh the the rubber bumpers are put where the metal, you know, are supposed to be and the metal are where the bumpers are supposed to
be or they're left on the bars or they're left on the benches or they're left all around the weight room. So, um it's been a a pretty big disarray and so I've sent out some messages reminding our users to please clean up after themselves and it's gotten a little better. So, hopefully it stays that way. and we had some um people who have been very helpful at helping me clean it up. Um so I appreciate that. >> Is this something new that's been a problem or >> uh that these people said I didn't realize it. They finally let me know that they were doing more cleanup than I realized cuz they come real early. It's been about two months of mess is what they said. >> Do you have any idea what's changed in that
time? >> Um we've had some new users. So I just sent out to start with I just sent out a general reminder to of that you know that this is in place and you sign this and to please clean up after yourself. >> Is it student users or public users? >> I believe it's public users. So um and if if it doesn't get better then we'll check the cameras and >> work on. But hopefully it hopefully that helped cuz it once I set the reminder there's only been a few things out here and there and it's gotten better. So, um, and then at the elementary it's that, um, cage seems to be the problem is there's pretty big mess in there, but I think there's some keys floating around places that there's a lot of
access to that that we don't even really realize who has it. And so, we'll >> just a padlock. >> It is. And so this summer, we're going to go through uh, and really clean it out and clean it up and maybe switch padlock and >> get some new keys. So, do you have any other questions for me on my general report? >> All right. So, that leads me to we have quite a few um recommendations I would like to make for the um new year, the upcoming school year. So, I'll just kind of work my way through them. Uh after working with um your new head coach that we've hired, Mr. Eric Wilman. Uh we've had a lot of discussion and interviews and work through football and I'm very excited to be able to help
him find some people and bring you some recommendations for his assistance. Um would you like me to do assistance and volunteer separate or can I do them all together? >> Should I separate them? >> Separate. >> Okay. Uh, so as far as the assistants, I would like to recommend Dan Worth, who was previously one of your middle school football coaches, and Connor Decker, who was previously a longboard football player for the two assistant high school football positions. >> So moved. >> Second. >> All those in favor? >> I oppose. Um along with searching we have found some people who would like to volunteer. They didn't feel that they could offer their complete time to the programs but they would like to support the program and as that we all do want to see it grow
into a more a successful program as always and so I would like to recommend Aaron Jones, Adam Olsen and Billy Dot as volunteers with the football program. >> So moved. Second. >> All those in favor? >> I opposed. >> We are still looking for middle school football coaches, so feel free to encourage people and send them along. I have uh one who I think we are close on um on making that decision. Um he just wanted to make sure he could provide the full commitment needed. So hopefully I'll be able to bring that, but we need two total. So, um please feel free to send any interested parties my way. Um for middle school volleyball, I would like to recommend you rehire Miss Amanda Brown as one of your um coaches and then we will
we're still talking to make sure the commitments from the others that from the other can be put in. But so tonight I just bring you Amanda Brown as my recommendation for middle school volleyball. >> So moved. Second. >> Sorry. >> All those in favor? >> I >> oppose. >> Uh, high school speech and drama. I would like to recommend the rehiring of Miss Emily Wixs as the speech and drama coach. She had a great year. We've learned a lot and um she's willing and ready to leap in again. >> So move. >> Second. All those in favor? I >> I oppose. >> Um I we had many meetings with the middle school programs in our district and we have recently withdrawn from the Northern Middle School Athletic Association and created a 1B middle school um
district. Uh we had a lot of discussion. We got together. We created our new constitution and on um all the pieces that go with that. And after lots of discussion, we have um agreed for that they are willing to try what we are used to and the middle school basketball program will go back to running midocctober through the beginning of very beginning of December. So what we knew as normal in class C is going to come back. They they're willing to try that um with us here. And so I we are now advertising for the middle school basketball coaches, two girls and two boys. I have had a couple interested parties, but it just went out and they are making sure that um we've talked about time commitments and the need for practices to be
able to be after school sometimes and you know split with the boys and the girls sharing the gym and they just want to make sure they have commitments as as well. So, um, if you have any interesting parties, send them my way. But we're we're started that direction with votes. Just wanted to make you aware that it'll look a little bit different again. Um, let's see. I have my notes here. Sorry. Basketball for the girls basketball. I would like to recommend the hiring of head coach Eddie Folultz. Do Sorry, I should ask this before I go on. Do you want me to do this as a program or separate? You can do it all too. >> Okay. And it is my recommendation for assistance that will be split is Tyler Pasha and Megan Lords. >>
So move >> second. All those in favor >> I >> opposed. >> And then again I would um recommend Mrs. Rihanna Folultz to be a volunteer with the program. Some moved. >> Second. >> All All in favor? >> I oppose. >> Okay. Moving on to boys basketball. I would like to recommend the rehiring of the staff Hardy O'Hara as head coach and Will Hucky as assistant coach. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I oppose. Okay. Uh, for high school wrestling, I would like to recommend the rehiring of Colobby Klene as the head coach. Um, I'm currently in discussions with the prior assistants and they're just making sure of where they stand with their commitments and their time and being able to do that. So, I won't bring those to you tonight, but um, Coach
Aaron Jones would like to move to a volunteer position. So, um, I'd like to recommend, if you want me to separate them, I'd like you to recommend Colobby Klein as your head coach for wrestling high school. >> So, moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I oppose. >> And then I'd like to recommend Aaron Jones as a volunteer. >> All in favor? I >> opposed. >> Um, most all of our schedules have been built for next year. Uh, miss I've given them shared them with Mrs. Fry, so they should be coming up onto the calendar even soon already. Uh, cross country is kind of its own beast. It doesn't come on till later, but you can kind of safely assume it follows the general pattern. So, if you look at last year's, we'll have
a general idea of what it looks like. Um, and we'll continue to fill in all those holes as as they come to us. But most of the things are already in place and ready for next year. Our or not hour, I guess the booster club banquet will be May 26th. I believe that's the last Tuesday of the month over at the Egg Center at 6 PM. And there's lots of lots of things to celebrate for all our students. So, please join us if you can. Does anyone have any questions for me? >> We're getting a basketball. >> Thank you. It was It was It was We got there. >> Almost. >> Would it be beneficial to have an extracurricular meeting to touch base on that middle school elementary basketball thing? Yeah, I was going to
ask you for your guidance of where you would how we would like to handle that. So, yes, I was going to ask when you Sorry, I guess I can do that now. At the end when you asked to what we needed, I was going to suggest a a meeting. >> So, when we Yeah, when we assign meeting >> that doesn't cover uh still doesn't cover elementary, right? So, we still have to >> only true middle school sixth, seven, eight. >> Yeah, that's middle school. That's through eighth grade. So, yeah. So if you want to have a committee meeting so you can decide um >> and coaches know what we got to >> Yeah. So we can decide where which path you if you'd like to continue um you know the way we have if that
if that if that pro or not program but that madeup district we were part of is still in place and still want to be part of that. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> So I hopefully we'll have more information by then. >> Okay. I think they moved on to spring high school sports. Um, a lot of them are coaches there, so I don't think that they've really >> thought about it much. So, by then we should have maybe some more information. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Any other questions for me? >> Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Okay. I'd like to begin by recommending to the board uh the hiring of classified staff for next year. We'll do them by category and so I would recommend the hiring of elementary staff. Um Lady Dana, Katie James,
Mark Smith, Sarah Smith. Actually, that's not true because Sarah Smith's going to be transferring over here. We'll get to that in a minute. Uh so I apologize. Lind Dana, Katie James, Mark Smith, and Corey Walker. We need the motion is district one only. So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? I >> oppose. >> Okay. In the middle school high school. Um >> what do you have a question? >> No, I just thinking >> Okay. Uh I had approached uh Sarah Smith and asked her if she'd be interested in transferring here to work as a PAR in our it's on my it was on my general board report. But so for the middle school high school staff uh to be hired please are we recommended the hiring of Tracy Anderson uh Jenna Bots we hired
already? Yeah. >> Yep. >> Last meeting. Okay. Kathleen Fry, Carlana McGarvey, Sarah Smith, and Connie Walker. So moved. I >> second that. Okay. All in favor? I >> oppose. >> I would recommend the hiring of your kitchen staff, Castia Goalie and Amanda Lewis. >> Move. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. >> I would recommend the hiring of your building and grounds maintenance supervisor, Russ Axman. So move. >> Second. >> All in favor? I >> I opposed. >> I would recommend the hiring of your transportation supervisor, Paul Bart. >> So moved. Second. >> All in favor? >> I oppose. >> And I would recommend the hiring of three route drivers, Jim O'Hara, Vicky O'Hara, and Terry Thomas. Some moved. Second. >> All in favor? >> Opposed? Oh, sure. You got No, we did. You hired
me as the clerk, not as >> So, we also I would also recommend hiring Cali O'Hara as our clerk. >> Clerk of the board. So, move. >> No. You're hiring me as the business official. >> I'm hiring you as a business official. >> That's what I'd recommend. >> Okay. >> What she said? >> So, move second. >> Bart second. opposed. >> Are we >> Did we We also need to hire the principal. >> Yep. Yep. >> I would recommend the hiring of Roxy Benjamin as your elementary school principal. >> So moved. >> That's it. >> All in favor? I >> I >> the pause. Uh for my general report, I want to begin by uh giving a a huge shout out to a lot of different people. Longhorn day last Thursday was a huge success.
We got really lucky with the weather. Um that I always say the hands of many make for light work, but certainly want to thank Amanda and the student council did a great job organizing. Russ did a great job cooking and organizing kids to take care of that. Staff and students were amazing across the, you know, our fair city and out the uh highways and around. It was it was just really really a great day. I thought our kids were extraordinary. Um, and uh, it it's just amazing, you know, and I think there's so much goodwill that comes from the work and the time and effort that kids put in and whatever. And they we have a lot for which to be proud. You as a as a board and we as a community have a
lot for which to be proud of these amazing kids and the work that they did. So, bravo to all them. We had two students head off to the state music festival. Um, both Leilani Platt and Lily Baitman received one superior rating, the best rating you've received at the state music festival. Again, hat tip a hat to Eric Lennington and his music students. That was that was pretty cool. Um, you might recall earlier this year you approved the senior trip. I want to just point out that they very successful uh from all report students and and the staff that went went really well. Russ was kind enough to join them as a chaperone. I think he had a good time as well. Um, if you want to see the one of the massive squirt guns from
that trip, it's still in my office. Not because it's John Liippard brought it here for Yeah, he just wanted to show it off. So, it's still sent in my office if he cared to see it. >> Was it confiscated? >> No, it wasn't. He actually just as he just left it there and I >> The best part came from Mrs. Fry's desk to Mrs. Fry. >> Mrs. Fry was using it there for a while. It was It was pretty pretty fun. Um, I wanted to give you a quick update on um, you might recall that earlier this spring, Mila Rain, Mila Clark, uh, submitted a resignation for the science position, which was sad for us and, uh, as a school district, but we have been been very grateful that we've had three applicants so far.
We interviewed our first candidate today. We'll interview our second candidate on Thursday, and with a little bit of luck, the third candidate we may have to interview online on Monday. And I would hope we would be offering a job by the middle part of next week. Knock on one of them. Okay. Um I was approached by the junior class of Port Benton High School and they have a great idea. I've talked to Russ and they um would like to paint uh senior parking spots out in the parking lot and uh they've gotten started the project. I've given Greg Iverson a heads up about that and Russ is going to work with them. They want to have a bit of a a picnic over the summer. I wanted to bring it up now while it was
fresh in my mind so that if you came by the school one night or had somebody call you and say, "Well, there's a bunch of kids having a party in the parking lot." could be the junior class is painting their parking spots. So, I thought it was a great idea and I think they're going to be pretty creative with it and and thank thank Russ >> point out that they're going to be approved. >> Yes, they're going to give us they're going to kind of do a grid and show us the pictures included. >> Yeah. So, I talked to Greg about, you know, if I'm not here that he would he would be in charge of giving them license to approval of the the what they would have painted in them parking spots. I mentioned
Sarah Smith being reassigned to the middle school high school. Um I wake up every morning now to the lights of FB on the side of the hill. If you haven't seen it yet, the NHS has been busy lately, too. They painted hose on and thanks to Russ help with that and they painted the FB and then they have some solar lights they put on the FB. So, um it's if you're not prepared for that, it's kind it's it's pretty bright at night. It's pretty pretty awesome. So, if at night you had to go for a little drive along the the river and and and down past the Grand Union by my house and you're going to see FB all lit up. Again, I think it's a really cool thing and I think it's a great
point of community pride that they get to see that. You know, for the three years I've been here until they changed the 2026 and got the FB painted again, there was a lot of chatter about that, but now that it's painted, whatever, people are really it's it's a really pride point and it's it's really cool. And so, the NHS has taken that on and again, thanks Russ for his help with that. Um I would report that we have been and and Jane you can chime in if you want but we have been um teaching the sex headed classes to the biology classes. We made a decision after the last board meeting to segregate the students by gender. So she's been teaching the class to the boys and the same class to the girls separated. We
made that decision afterwards and we we I again you can speak to that but we only had that biology those biology classes have some freshmen in them and that's all sophomores pretty much but there's a couple there's a small number of freshman so we had two sophomores whose parents opted them to not join uh did not did not opt them in and two parents of the freshman who opted them to not did not opt them in but um I've not had a single phone call or complaint or concern and we're nearing the end. We've been working around Jamie's schedule. So, thank you, Jamie, for the for the effort. >> We made sure to have it on days where there were not kids gone for events, so it's taken a while. >> Yeah. So, we made
sure to not have it like when a day golf or tennis was gone so that everyone could be there. They were at school. >> Yeah. And we're working around because spring is just wild and kids are missing and whatever. So, to make it happen so that all boys are in one section, we're moving them to their so they're not missing geometry. It's it's it's been kind of complicated, but again, Jamie's been great and we've been working that out and she's um taken that on and it's it's gone really well so far. So, I wanted to make a point of of uh sharing that with you. Uh Mr. Iverson was here. We had two really productive days, April 30th and May 1st, and he plans to be back on campus this coming Friday for about a
half a day. And um filled his brains. I've got a little folder full of stuff. And uh we we've had a good we had a really good visit, and I I think you'll be um uh happy with your new superintendent. Um, as part of our annual um, compliance, I am required to read the following statement, a C CIPA compliance statement. And it goes like this. In order to meet the Children's Internet Protection Act, Fort Benton schools use an internet filtering system through triangle communications secure securely filtering for Chromebooks and GoG Guardian classroom filtering. I did have to practice that a couple times. Um, I have those pictures as I mentioned and there's lots of dates listed on the back of my board report which I'll send out to you tomorrow. But unless you have any
questions, that concludes my report. >> Thank you. >> I apologize. I apologize. I want to give you one heads up um for next month before I forget. We are going to have um I believe I'll have two requests for early graduation for next year. I've already gotten uh most I've gotten the letter, but I didn't get in time to put in this agenda. So, I decided just to put them together. We'll be but we'll be considering two likely two uh early graduation requests at the June board meeting. >> And those will be coming juniors, right? >> Kids who are going to be seniors next year. >> Okay. >> These are students who are currently juniors. >> Currently juniors going to be seniors. >> And by they I've Mrs. Martin and I've been working with them
one for quite a while. The other one we just met with this week. So, um, but they understand that they have to get their letters to me and everything from from our side before we come to the board ready before the June board meeting. So, I've given those deadlines and I have one for sure. I've already got the letters from the one, but possibly a second one for us to consider. >> Your turn. I'm up. Okay. So, general board, um, everything is looking good, right on track. The only thing I didn't get done is people just basically all of the school supplies and everything is ordered. So, we just have the remaining teacher um payrolls to kind of round off the rest of the year. So, we're kind of wrapping up um claims side of
the year. So, that's always kind of stressful and exciting at the same time, I guess. Um that's all I really have on that. I think you'll see next month you'll see some of those larger bills come through that are the end of the year once a year subscription type things. So nothing out of the ordinary. Um but I do need permission um to pay bills through June. So as they come in, I'll just keep paying them so that in hopes that we can get as much pushed into this fiscal year as possible. So I just need your permission to do that. So moved. >> Seconded. >> All in favor? >> I post. >> Okay. I have no obsolete property this uh month. But the next thing on there is non-resident student admissions. And I handed
everybody a piece of paper and it lists all the students that are currently live out of district that um we're their district of choice. And so we just have to have a approval for all of those um students. >> It's just one >> just one approval. Yep. >> Okay. >> We need a motion. >> So moved. >> Thank you. Second. Okay. Any questions? How these being mainly elementary districts, is this going to be a district one vote only or >> they didn't really say so and we've never made it a district one vote >> to be I mean I looked last year and I it didn't appear that way. So >> Okay. >> I think this does not include we have a student coming on Monday I think to visit. >> Yeah. But these are
all students that live out of district. Yeah. >> The currently. >> Yeah. >> And so if people move in, we'll have to reapprove them. >> Yeah. Okay. >> So, and then next year, um, anybody that lives in that Carter district will be in district because I think this is their third year. So, >> anything that's in that current Carter district will become district form. >> Yeah. >> So, we'll have to navigate that some. So, and I've been in contact with Rick as to how that'll change things on our board or what that will look like. >> So, any other questions, concerns? >> Because we do have some students that live in our district that attend out of district, too, and I haven't received any of their letters yet. So, >> is there a certain time
they're supposed to put their letters in? You can do this at any point during the year because it's that new tuition law >> and it's very tricky um because even if we have students that like let's say we have parents that are you know um split custody and they you know that one parent lives out of district and then other parent lives in district. We've even got to fill a form out for them >> and it gets really tricky and I Yeah. of figuring out how many days did you live with mom, how many days did you live with dad and then that district either pays or yeah it it's very weird and very complicated and a horrible piece of legislation in my opinion. >> It creates lots of busy work. But I mean I
get it that the money should follow the kid but it's a lot of work. I'll make a motion. I I >> I made the motion just to vote. >> I just had one budget question. >> Yep. >> You have 18% remaining in general fund. Is that normal? >> Yep. >> About where you want to be? >> Yep. Because all the all that's left to come out of the general fund um is the remaining payroll. >> Oh, okay. >> Because every we've ordered our like we are like we're killing it this year unlike last year when I was panicking. >> Yeah. Um, yeah. All we have left is payroll cuz all the teacher supplies and everything's been ordered. >> It seems higher than usual. So, >> it is a little bit. >> Yeah. >> We can
carry those funds over. >> No, we'll use them. >> All right. >> Paul and I have grand plans. We'll use them. We would really like to buy a new driver's ed van >> if we have the funding to allow >> because our kitchen van is about I think Paul and I were trying to figure it out yesterday when I kind of just finished one payroll and figured I might have a little bit of wiggle room. >> Yeah. >> Um that our kitchen van is about to die and the repairs on it are about what kitchen van is worth. >> It's pretty. So, we'd really like to rotate our current driver's ed van to our kitchen van and then get um a different driver's ed van that could potentially be like a traverse or something that
might be a little more user friendly for our staff to take other places other than just a dark zan. >> Yeah. And you have to do two months of payroll via. >> Yep. >> Okay. Thanks. Coming back to the out of district students, we have a motion and a second. All in favor? >> I oppose. >> And then the approved budgets got left on there from uh last year because we did that two months ago because they came out on time. So, and last year with it being a legislative session and they were way behind and I just didn't catch it with Connie having I am so glad that Connie is back. She was out for a week and a half with her hip surgery and it was a long week. So, we're glad that
she's back. >> Yes, >> that is all I have. Okay, so moving on to committee reports and meetings. Um, let's do the reports and come back to the meeting or scheduling. So, start with personnel committee. So we met two weeks ago and then we met tonight. Uh we had a discussion regarding how to attract custodians the elementary. Um so we're working through that still. got some ideas hopefully have another solution maybe next meeting uh that we'll bring to the board and we also had discussions with Russ kind of just around maintenance supervisor and his retirement and just trying to backfill that position um we were potentially going to start advertising it in October um and so yeah that's where we're I'll have to report. >> I miss anything else. >> No, I think you got
it. Um, transportation committees report. >> Yeah. So the we met tonight earlier and the committee recommends given Paul the latitude to out outfit three route buses and two activity buses with cameras at a cost of about 25,000. We thought it might be good to try it and it solves a lot of problems for Paul and the district. And we also well Paul worked up some language for the transportation handbook in regards to cell phone policy and we recommend that go in also >> and so you'll see that recommended um handbook change when we do the handbooks. It'll be highlighted in yellow >> along with added wordage to that form. >> Yes. And then we'll reach out to MTSBA because once there's cameras on the buses, that'll have to be a form that all students sign
on at registration so that their parents acknowledge that their students >> can be video recorded on the bus. >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> That's audio and video. >> Yep. >> That was it. >> Yes. >> So, we need to make a motion for the cameras. >> Okay. >> So, moved. Second. >> All in favor? >> I >> oppose. And now we need to schedule committee meetings. I know Jamie mentioned an extra curricular meeting. >> Personnel. >> Yeah, we'll need a follow up to that. Do we need to wait till we hear back? >> Do you want to wait until I hear back from her? >> Sure. Okay. >> Uh, yeah. No, I just reach out with you guys and >> Okay. all extracurricular meeting board meeting in June. >> Um, no for me
because I will be coming back from the class B meetings in Bay Sky that day. >> Yeah, >> I don't think it's any hurry being the majority of what we're discussing is >> springtime next year. I just want to know make a plan in in advance this year. So July, >> yeah, let's do we'll do >> we can do it before the July meeting even. It's that's not a big deal. Is that the 14th? >> July meeting. >> It's the 14th. >> So it came six o'clock before the meeting. >> We should have policy committee meetings. Just be my my email I sent out. We had a request >> Yeah. for cons reconsideration of the gym use policy or a grant of grace for time on Sunday specifically was the request. So I don't know
if you want to if the board wants if the policy committee wants to consider that. >> I would like to request policy committee meeting to discuss that policy. >> Okay. >> I'd also like to invite Jamie and Kobe to if we could please Jamie definitely should be there. >> Kobe. Yeah. for the elementary. >> Oh, okay. Gotcha. From a teacher standpoint, I was thinking coach. Yeah, I was too. I was >> I was actually wondering Well, I mean, do you guys think there's any benefit in inviting some of our user gym gym users just in the spirit of collaboration and hearing from our community and what you know they want. Well, I I don't want to be in a position where it's an us against them kind of an attitude and you know, we're a
public school and I want to work together on that. I mean, that's how I feel. >> Well, an open conversation can answer some of the questions and reverse address. doesn't mean we have to do everything the public wants us to do, but it allows them to hear our reasonings for putting policies in place and it allows us to hear what they want in one place. >> I guess you could put an invitation who wants to come can come. >> But they're always welcome. >> Maybe they tightnit group. Maybe you could have a couple of them as a couple representatives of the group. Maybe it's not that like >> it's not a bad idea, but it is a public meeting because it's a meeting, so it's always the public. >> Yeah, that's true. >> June, >>
do we have younger high school kids come? Like I know during little guy wrestling there was high older or high school kids or college age kids coming in. >> Did they? And there may be people I don't know that. And so I wonder if that's like if you guys if you're leaving your classroom clean is it the evening kids face younger crowd coming in leaving that mess. So maybe it's an evening issue and not so much a morning issue. >> It's not a morning's cleaning it up. >> Yeah. Okay. >> So what do we want to meet for poly for the next board meeting? Can we do either the 26th or the 2nd? So, we got a little bit extra time if we're going to have community here. >> The 26th is that uh >>
banquet. >> Yeah. So, can we do the second then? >> I'm so you can do it without me if you want. I'm gone through June. >> May 25th. >> What about Monday? day before the meeting board meeting >> I'll be going or 7th through the 9th is when I go to the class B meetings. >> Okay. >> So I mean you don't I can write your statements and answer things in advance if you would be good if you're there. I think you should Yeah. >> Yeah. What about the 19th then next week? >> Well, I could probably make that work actually. >> 19th of May. >> Yeah. >> There anything in the school? We have the thing. >> Not in the evening. >> Okay. >> We set it for 6:30 if you >> Yeah. >>
makes it a bit easier for me to get here. 6:30. 6:30. >> And this is the one where you're opening it to the public to come in for >> the topic will be the the gym. >> But I think we should reach out to them. >> That'll happen on the 19th or 6:30. Yes. Okay. >> So, if we were going to attend that like a schoolboard meeting, you know, you get on you have to get on the agenda for public comment. >> Would we have to do that at this meeting? Would we have to go ahead of time and get on the agenda so we could speak? >> Well, the agenda would be about the news policy on the agenda. >> So, if I want to speak tonight on behalf of coaches or whatever, you
know, I'd probably have to get on the agenda ahead of time. Correct. would I have to do that for this next one? >> No, that's the agenda that is already making sure that >> Yep. >> you know. Yeah. >> Meeting. So, >> yes. >> So, okay. Thank you. >> May 19th, 6:30. >> Tomorrow. >> It's in the afternoon. >> I know. I'm just >> Yeah, that's that's the National Honor Society inductions at 2:10 followed by the awards ceremony. >> Okay. >> But that will be done before the end of the school day. >> Okay. >> By the end of the school day. Yeah. >> Are there other committees we need to schedule? Are we good? Okay. >> Okay. I have one resignation from Danny Leman. Was given to us to Russ lab verbally. I apologize.
doesn't have a written uh resignation, but I would uh we would accept her resignation uh in my office verbally. Uh we have staff hiring and um we'll do this in groups. First of all, I'd like to recommend the hiring of Courtney Decker as a volunteer in the elementary school. >> So move second. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. >> Okay. I'd also like to recommend um the hiring of our athletic director, Jamie Ball, director. So moved. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> I >> oppose. >> Then we have two hires for par and petty. You might recognize that name has been working in the kitchen but has been reassigned as a parent in the elementary school and Alex Salazar was uh just pending his background check. I would recommend the hiring of those
two folks for elementary paras next year. >> So moved. Second. All >> in favor? I I opposed. Anything else? >> The only future agenda item I had was the early graduation requests. >> Okay. And then we have we need to put those um meetings on there. Yep. >> All I have. Okay. We need a motion to adjourn. >> All in favor. approach. There he is on the
