001United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. finished. So move second Okay. Any questions or comments? >> All those in favor? >> Opposed? Approval of claims. Second. The new sewer infall river construction the new sewer for longarded green trap. >> Mhm. Any other questions or comments? HD. Is there none? Um, all those in favor? >> I oppose. Okay. Public comment on non-aggenda items. We do not have anybody. Communications to and from the board. Also nothing. >> Okay. >> Board chair report. So the December board meeting we usually be scheduled to have it at the same or before the matinea for the this year. The matinea is December 11th which is the Tuesday after what we have scheduled for the meeting.
002>> What's everyone's thoughts? >> Uh did we do it at 11 last year and then went to lunch? Um, what's it late? >> What time is lunch? >> 11:30. >> 11:25. >> Yeah, lunch starts at like 11:20 with that little preschool friend. >> I think we started the meeting at 11:00, >> got through part of it, >> adjourned for lunch. >> Yeah. >> Ate lunch back and then started again. >> What's everyone's thoughts? agree. >> Could we move it to Should we start earlier so we get it done before lunch? >> Yeah. Not a problem. >> And the m starts at 1. >> That would be fun. The m starts at 1:00. You could eat lunch in the cafeteria and then go to recess. >> That's what I was going. >> I bet Ruth and
003work outside. Yeah. >> I don't know. That' make it easier. >> I'm not opposed to any of it. I have to take the whole day off for work anyway. So, >> same. >> So, it would give us a little more time to get it done and not be quite as rushed. If everyone's okay with that, >> go to 10:30 and if there's anything left over, we got half an hour to play with. >> Yeah, I'm good with that. Um, do we need to vote on that? Just get those calories. I think we have to schedule it out. >> Yeah. Consensus. >> Okay. So 10:30 on the 11th. Does that sound good? >> At the elementary. At the elementary. Yes. >> And please let me know the day before if you're going to meet lunch or
004not. So I can >> And do you have any requests? >> Tacos. >> Ribway sandwiches. Sandwiches. >> Yeah. Rib. We could do a room like roll back or the pizza like the bird. I'll eat lunch and I won't remember to tell you. So >> yeah. >> Okay. So next up is the sealed bids. So we have the Willray trailer. We have two like Yeah, super better. Okay, so we have one bid for $1,800 and the other bid is $1,500. So $1,800. We'll take it. And that is it for the board or for the show. do anything in Russian. >> Thanks. >> Um, yeah. All those in favor? >> Hey, Roxan. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. like um absolutely probably the only one that does it for absolutely okay there's four one for Cali and five
005and you just get to listen as we're both sorry yeah um happy second night of conferences we've had great attendance so far at the elementary school um don't ask any teacher like what time it is or what day it is as we're like getting all of our families through but it's been really Great. We've also had um awesome parents that have been brought in food. So, we have dinner tonight. We had dinner yesterday, tonight, and then tomorrow for our teachers. So, that's been awesome. Super thankful for the parent support. Um a few highlights from October was I mean, I don't know if this was a highlight, but the flu shot clinic was October 15th. A little bit less attendance than last year, but you know, we'll have to see how that pans out. Um October
00621st we um had an awesome time window painting and I don't know if you've got gotten a chance to take a peek around town but I feel like the kids really did a great job this year and some of the windows were quite scary but others were very cute and so I just think they did a great job and we're always thankful for businesses that allow us to come and paint. And I think every year too we're able to provide our families more information on how to make sure it's a positive experience for all involved. So that's always important. We want to keep that tradition alive. Um, we had a >> Do you mind if I ask a question about that? >> Yeah. >> How is it with the voting that they did differently this
007year? >> Didn't they have I don't even know how they did the voting. All I know is that there was kind of some changes that came in last minute, but so I didn't Yeah, I wasn't even sure about that. So, um I want to give a huge shout out to our families and um students because I think this was such a great red ribbon red oh my gosh red ribbon week um that we had in October and we've never had so many kids dress up and participate. >> Great crazy hair. Awesome. We had such a fun color day where like each grade level has a color, but it was really really fun to see. Kids really I feel like brought Yeah. brought their best to the different dress up days. Um, anything but a backpack
008day was pretty entertaining. We had a wheelbarrow. We had um so many different things. Uh like a whole like cart of drawers that a kiddo bought. It was awesome. >> Kayak. Yeah, brought a kayak. Trash can. That was good. No kid was thrown into that. So, we were thankful for that. So, um, and then we've had Deputy Rearen coming in and kind of completing what is like the new DARE program and they started with our third grade. So, he's been coming in now for 3 weeks, um, on Tuesdays and that's been really awesome. It's a little bit more like not just about drugs and awareness, but about mental health and how to make good choices. And so, that's been really awesome. I'm always thankful. I just feel like I one thing I'm so grateful for
009is the support um, from the sheriff's office. I think with anything really at school, it's awesome to team with them. It's something that really makes our school feel safe and helps us do our best job. October 31st, Halloween and an assembly. Um, we had a great parade of costumes and announced our AR readers, but it was really I I was kind of talking to some of my staff and maybe it was just because I was so sugared up on candy by the end of the day, but I think it was one of our best Halloween assemblies ever. So, we'll maybe keep the tradition alive. Do you guys have any questions so far? Okay, awesome. So, parent teacher conferences, as I mentioned, started to um yesterday and run through Thursday. Today, we had an awesome Veterans
010Day parade. I'm not sure if you guys were able to kind of catch a peak of it, but our staff always does a great job of putting together banners and the kids always enjoy walking down Front Street and participating in the Veterans Day ceremony that happens there at the Veterans Memorial Park. It's probably one of my favorite events of the year and thankful Marvin Broduct does a great job at setting that up, making sure all of our kids have legs to carry. It was really great. Also, if you guys are looking for any new books, the book fair is currently set up in the library and will continue through Thursday. So, pop by. Um, a change to kind of um note here is that we have worked to implement kindergarten um standards based report cards.
011that's been in existence for a couple years. And so our first grade teacher, Deanna Woodhouse, has jumped on the bandwagon of standards report card. I do believe I was supposed to bring a copy of that, but alas, it is in my office. So basically, it just gives a little bit more specific information in terms of instead of just a general reading grade or a math grade, it breaks down specifically what students are learning and where they're at and rates them on a scale from three, two, or one. Four is really would be kind of like a standout exceptional understanding. But I think especially as our younger learners are starting to acquire some of those basic literacy and math skills, it gives us super specific learning at what they know and what they don't know so
012we can better communicate with families what they're working on. If you guys have any questions, I'd love to share that with you. But um Mrs. Farwick has done an excellent job at kind of explaining that to families and families will be able to look forward to that coming out when our trimester ends. >> Sounds like sorry. >> It sounds like Mrs. Does that Roxy Allen has that uh formatted so it's in Infinite Campus now? >> Yes. And Roxy Allen is such a tremendous help with anything Infinite Campus. She is a wizard. I'm not sure like her knowledge. I feel like she has forgotten more things about Infinite Campus than we probably will know. So >> she's meaningful information. So maybe next month just bring the bring it. It's it's good. It's a good example to
013have it. >> Absolutely. I just like I think especially to Yeah. What was your question? >> Oh. Sorry. What what uh you mean reading, math and something else? >> So instead of more like reading and math, it would be like um is able to like kindergarten identify letters and sounds. And so you'd be able to specifically like give that information on how many letters they are able to identify and how many sounds they would know. And so it's the same really with this first grade report card, but it would be more in the succession of phonics as you learn like is able to read CBC words. Um is able to read CBC words with like the the silent e on the end. So those kind of more specific information. Yeah, if that makes sense. >>
014Yeah. Can add numbers, you know, 1 through 100 can Yeah, that kind of stuff. Yeah. Um any any questions on that happenings at the elementary school? Okay, awesome. Um so to get into our MTFS report, we are about due for another round of our meetings where we review our intervention data. I do feel like our team is awesome. our teachers and our intervention staff are very diligent in reviewing data each week and so those interventions that we're able to make are timely and pertinent and that kids are we don't want them falling too far behind and so I just feel like our teachers are on we want our kids to learn and we want to make sure that that's happening so I'm always very grateful for their attention to that we also are busy into
015masked testing would you like to state what are Like you said, >> measure of academic standard through year. >> Yes. >> Nasty. Nasty. >> Oh man. Yeah. We could have a game where like we like identify all the different educational acronyms like to remember and but um so far that's going well. This the scoring has um changed a little bit from this year to last year. It they they instead of leveling they they last year scored kids in um level one, two, three or four. This year they've scored kids in levels 1, 2, or three. So there's more kids in level two. And like I don't know if you know my staff, but like we really like level three and four. So we're we're just like it's kind of a little bit frustrating. It's not
016maybe as specific data. I still feel like they're in the process of working the kinks out with this. So I think the embargo data from last year's um scores gets released next year or next week or something like that. But so I do feel like OPI does listen to some of the feedback they get from teachers, but nonetheless, it's definitely not a perfect measure of student progress. We also get the honor of participating in NATE this year. So we will be testing for the fourth grade and the eighth grade, not through 8th grade. Um, and that will happen in February and March. So that's where they come in. They bring their own devices and they test students on a set of national standards to ensure that we're doing our job. Yes. Any questions with that?
017>> That's like Iowa basics for just like two grades. >> Correct. >> Yeah. >> So do you get to look at the data and compare it to >> you can they'll compare to more of a national level >> and so yeah definitely um I can't remember I think it's it's been a while since we've done it. I remember Mrs. Hampford's class doing it um maybe three years ago or something like that. So yeah, I feel like normally hopefully I think timely um return and data is always a challenge it seems like with these standardized tests. >> You don't get to see them yourself? >> No, it would be probably more like a like a report card that comes out and it'll let us know how our school's doing. >> Yeah. Um, so in the works,
018we have a gratitude spirit rally tomorrow. So that'll take place in the morning where our kiddos get into their mixed age groups and travel to different teachers classrooms. And we have a fun turkey activity that my fabulous secretary has put together and um a video just kind of talking about what to be grateful for, focusing on gratitude. We can always like focus on what's wrong, but how important it is to focus on what's right. We'll have a second cooking class that takes place on November 20th. Our November assembly will be November 25th and then definitely save the date for that December 11th Christmas program. I know um Peggy Ganon and Eric Lennington are putting a lot of hard work into that. So always sometimes. Yes. Any question? Okay. Okay. Well, thank you, Matthew. Okay. Thanks
019for letting Pat give my report. Last month, we had that busy school day where they were down in the gym. Um, just a quick update, we're we've either wrapped up or close to wrapping up the fall sports. So, we had state cross country compete in Missoula where there were Thank you, Coach Benjamin. Five runners and they did a great job. >> Yeah, >> they did. >> They had a good day. Um, the volleyball team traveled to Shnook and competed at the district tournament there. Um, unfortunately, they lost out, but it was definitely a year of growth and learning the new um the new district we're in. And to just to compare the top three teams two this year two will go on out of our division to state. Next year it will be three. The
020top three teams were the 1B teams that went on or the two that are going on to state this year. Our 1B teams and if they would have been able to take a third um it would have been from the 1B. So we have a very competitive league that we are part of and it was fun. It was kind of fun to watch. again. I, you know, I got to see some faces that I knew way back when and um share that with the kids. Um football is still going and super exciting. Uh we're not done yet. So, we hosted the first two rounds here, first round and the quarterfinals. Um I'm currently working on sending those financial reports in, >> getting those things wrapped up for MHSA. If you were able to be here,
021you saw that at the first round. Um, thank you to Russ and to last year's seniors. We were able to honor Skip with a bench on the sideline next to Coach Ferguson's and that was a pretty special moment and um I appreciate all the help rusted and and the kids getting that rolling. So, that was special in itself. Um, I've spent a lot of this time this weekend and this week getting ready, helping the football team get ready. They will head to Scobby. They will leave at 9:00 on Friday. We're they're going to the moms have organized a sendoff. So, if you are available, they're going to honk them out of town up there by Mountain View. Um, and we're going to have a little thing here at school at the end of the day.
022>> 2:10. Thank you. 2:10 on Thursday because we're not in school on Friday. Um, and so I think they have their trip all planned and arranged and I've got we've got practice scheduled and hotel and um restaurant reservations and they're ready for the game and then >> where are they practicing? >> See Glasgow. >> They are practicing Glasco. >> They're practicing Glasgow >> and staying in Glasow. >> And staying near Glasgow. Yeah. Um >> is there a pet bus going? >> Not to this one. Um it depends on you know what the week after. If if we make it through this week and um circle wins, we will host. If we make it through this week and Drummond wins, we will travel. So it'll just be um wait and see what happens. So super exciting.
023And in preparation for the just in case, uh, middle school basketball is currently going on for the boys and we we're getting actually close to the end of that season, but we were set to host we hosted our first jamboree on the same day as our first round playoff. So, it was a really busy day. We had basketball going in both gyms in order to wrap it up and get it done to get out to the football field. So, thanks to Russ, he took care of my outside for me and I did the insides and um we made it through well. It was it was a great day. We were set to host again next week. Um but just in case whether we host or whether we travel, I know if we get there, everybody's
024going to be excited. And so I have quickly rescheduled those basketball games. Um so we are going to be playing basketball in our gym this Friday. um it was available and open and the teams were will very willing to do that understanding that we want to support our our other kids and so we will have games this Friday in our gym times I think starting at 9:00 we're one team didn't have the teams I thought they had so I'm redoing the schedule I'm going to finish it up after we get out of here and then they will travel Saturday to cut bank and then um the we've had A and B teams. The tournaments don't take everyone and there's a play in game system. I'm not sure exactly how that works yet. So, um we'll
025we'll see where we go from there. But to answer your question about uh we discussed the middle school basketball seasons a little bit in our committee meeting, I believe it was. We did have a district meeting um at the volleyball tournament and we had a little bit of a discussion. I I brought this up and asked some questions, but in the 1B only about half of us are ads for both middle school and high school. And so we had a little bit of a discussion. and I got a little bit of a picture, but um I didn't really get answers and have a great cuz that discussion will have to come at a middle school meeting with all the middle school athletic directors. I asked about the girls and the boys switching seasons. I don't
026really know the answer to it yet. I'll give you that. That's all I have. Um, it sounded like it was discussed and it sounds like it's kind of a separated viewpoint from the district, but it does sound like maybe it's a if they switch them, it was a a twoyear. So, we're in this for two years this way, but I may I'll have a better hopefully have a better picture and answer of how things work. I'm not sure. It was an experience um a new experience. Um, so, so that's for the fall. Do you have any questions about fall or the um, football or going or anything that I can answer? Okay. Um, winter starts on the 20th with practice. If the boys do make it, we are allowed to count some practices and they
027have a little bit of carryover days. And so, we had to work that last year when our boys went to state basketball. It has some carryover with spring. It's the same with with this season. And so if they make it, we have we'll work that out and it's allowed and we have some things we just have to make sure of and we'll be good. But the first day will come the 20th. We had great interest meetings. I have numbers but I don't know that they're necessarily accurate numbers to give you. So I don't really want to give them because we encouraged kids even if they were remotely tiny bit interested to go and listen to the meetings and check it out. And so there were a few kids that went to multiple things to check
028out. So, we'll have more I'll have numbers for you next um meeting of who actually joined what, but we do have speech, drama, and debate going and they have eight members and they will attend their first competition this Saturday in Conrad and we have robotics going and they have four members. Um and then winter will start up with girls basketball, boys basketball, girls and boy wrestling and cheer on the 20th. Um, I have one I didn't send this out in advance. This was a very last minute thing that came in, but I do have one recommendation. We have not filled the other high school robotics coach for a couple years now, and Brady's done a great job, but it's a lot on your own. Um, and so Larry Wright has come forward and expressed interest.
029um he's has a kiddo in there and he said he's just enjoyed hearing about it and seeing it and he would like to be a part of it and so I would like to recommend and after discussion with him I'd like to recommend Larry as the no I didn't look at this is an assistant coach right or are they or are they the same >> I can't remember >> the coaches >> the co or the assistant I can't remember Do you remember >> I thinking they're co- coaches but coaches because the money's the thing. >> Okay. Okay. So for high school and then I would like to recommend him and I don't do this stuff but as a volunteer if needed for middle school. He's willing to go over and because we only have we
030only have one coach over there, but she's comfortable and confident in managing it with help from um some school staff, but he's willing to if she ever needs it, his wife, I suppose, and go help him over there. >> So, second. >> Okay. Any questions or comments? All those in favor? Opposed? Okay, >> I'm sure there's more that I probably need to tell you, but with conferences this week and trying to organize >> all the things my it's like earlier that probably left my brain. But do you have any questions for me? Because I think that's all I have for now. >> Okay, thanks. I don't I'm not >> want restored out. Um, I always thank our staffs are doing pretty good job and Jordan and Danny and I think that we need to u
031um expand and um advertise um starting right now for the elementary. Danny is um going to have a child in February. I think I think it's February. >> yeah. And so we're going to need a replacement for her. Not a replacement, a um second in there to take over for a while. um she'll be back, but um she's going to be gone. So, we need to advertise on on that behalf so that they can get accustomed to um what goes on. So, let's um we need to get that in in order. Um big thanks to all of our veterans. It was Veterans Day today and and they had a great program downtown and all over. I think that uh that was really well received um in the community by our school taking um part in
032such a big in a big way. Um, city crew Scott came over and helped with the memorial bench and brought the gravel over and we got that set into place and leaf pickup and of course they'll be removing the benches when the time comes. Um, we kind of coordinated with that so that they don't get snowed or froze down. Thank Jamie for all of her work. If you ever seen someone put on track shoes during an event, it's Jamie. She's one spot and then over you look over there, the red shirt over there and the red shirts over there and um she she covers the ground and gets everything taken care of. So a big thank you for Jamie, Kelly and Kale and Ray Lynn um helped on the field and and and it's great.
033The kids enjoy it. Um and to me it's three generations working on the field and that was that was probably the the biggest coolest thing was Ray was out there painting Gale and it was that was really fun. That was a lot of fun. It looks amazing. >> It does. >> Well, it's for the kids and but Railen was out there and she was just digging what was going on and and you know being along hard and um she really really enjoyed it. So um and her taking part was was beneficial really. Um the main report start safe fire marshall was through and um gave us the kudos and everything was okay on all the buildings everything is in place and u we don't have any um contingencies or anything like that that we have
034to update for the state fire marshall teachers at the high school um are complete um probably this next week the science room is 98% and the math room is 90% and um they're just finishing those up and we hope to be online with those um the next this next week. Elementary is working good and everything is in order and um they've got everything dialed in. So, um that that's a blessing right there that when we do get cold that were um up and going in both buildings, the sewer project, and this one might get just a little bit long, but I'm going to go through everything. the SH project if you were looking at the at the invoices that price doubled as far as what happened. Um I went through with Brent and I know
035that um I had Mr. Hoo out there and I tried to explain it the best as possible. When we open up the manhole, there is an 8 in line that goes to the north. But in in retrospect, that line only goes out about a foot. And we thought that it went down all the way this way because we tie in over there. And this gets this might get be long. We might have to send those two out. Um they're tiring me. So the sewer from the girls locker room and the and the toilets and everything that goes out to the back and that was all thought to be tied in to this sewer that was out there. It does not on further investigation that goes out and goes down the boulevard of the TNI building
036and ties into the TNI building which is really illegal. That's just that's just not heard of to tie two buildings together and and come out of the other building. So, what it's doing is with this one over here gets be really slow and starts to back up because the TNI building kind of backs up. So, we're wondering why that TNI isn't draining out. We've got all the fluid that's trying to go into that Y. So, it's we got a kind of a debolic right there. And then there's two low spots out there about where that um good drainage is. that's coming off of the school and everything. There's a low spot there and then one down a little bit farther. So, the water is actually sitting 4 in deep in those low spots where the
037where they just use 4 in pipe and it's just in a in a cavity. So, all your stuff is starting to back up. So, eventually that's going to have to be taken care of over there and and extended or whatever. The project became more um they hit the gas line. They didn't hit the gas line. They went over the gas line three different times and that was because we had to go from point A to point B now over to that and when you go out there you'll see gravel and I know Darren walks out that extended all the way down to the manhole. So that wasn't in the original contract. It was just to go into the man out to the sewer. So they had to extend that out cut that asphalt. It became
038um a project that was going to be and they bid it in at 3 to 4 days. It became 8 n days. So when you see that invoice in there that there's an extra 10,000 that was that wasn't talked to Pat we're already here and he's already got the pipeline we can't I mean what are we going to do and so we went forward with it and um I I mentioned that to Brandt too. Um, so plumber's online, but he needs a clear day. And the clear day is either this Friday, but now they're having concessions. And so that Friday doesn't work, but we have a couple days coming up in the week path and the next week um that we're going to we're trying to coordinate to get that grease trapping. It won't take
039them one full day. We just need to coordinate when nobody's going to be in the cafe. So that that was kind of ned out for this Friday. Um but we are coordinating that with with him and u going forward. So if there's if you have questions on that how that all turned out because it kind of was bothersome to me and I I I mean I just there was nothing else we could do way to go forward. Um and he did a really great job. He cleaned everything up. If you go over there and see the neatness and stuff like that. Now the concrete will be poured in the spring. kind of want to let that settle into that hole and and you can't just tap it and put it in there and then of
040course they'll do the asphalt in the spring and and repatch all that. >> Um, >> so we don't have to push it so far back and we can get the grease trap in. Is it possible to schedule high schoolers and middle schoolers to go down to the elementary for lunch at one day so it's not in use? It it's it's really a pain for them to do it down there. We don't because they're just going out of the room and the time, right? >> Huh. >> And the staffing. >> Yeah. It's just it's just But we're only two weeks out this week and then next week we have a couple days off of it. So, we're we're just living at that, >> right? >> Yeah. Um the outside stuff leaves in the field and um
041inside projects. We got some stuff going in the gym and and that was kind of pushed Jamie Friday. There you go. Just >> I I knew I was coming. >> Sorry. That was my Friday project. She goes, "Is there anything you need to do Friday?" I said, "Oh, no, no, no. We got everything handled." Then I walked down the hall and I saw Jer and he goes, "Yeah, I was going to work on that project. I got >> We're going to be done sooner now." >> Huh? >> We'll be done sooner than I planned, please. But that was we're on and I've got all the boards for us. >> So >> anyhow um also in the elementary coming up we have um the Saturday that we use it for their Christmas for the community Christmas
042and I think it's the 6th. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So, um that'll be and it's always really fun and Joelyn and her crew come in there and man, they really they really screws that place up and really make it really great on Friday and and um so our Saturday Christmas and then of course the board meeting down there on the 11th and um we'll get that all ready to go. So questions anybody questions from the elementary? >> You know, I'll text you. I'll call you. Don't worry. So I handed out quarterly reports to elementary. So we're done with our first quarter of the year. Um so it just breaks it down and this is just the general fund. Um, it has elementary, high school, and transportation. So, it's the same as it always is. On
043the left is the total budget and the line items that I've made the budget for. And then as you move to the pink at the top, um, that first column in bold, it just gives you totals. And so, they match quarter one obviously because we're just in that first quarter. So for each um general fund for high school, elementary schools and transportation and then I do have um I gave them to the building and ground committee and I can give them to everybody else too spreadsheet um on all the building projects um what has been done um and what we've received for um expenditures there. Um so if anybody else wants a copy they can have ones. Um the numbers highlighted in blue are um funding has come out of the um building reserve and
044numbers in black have come out of the general fund. I am at the point where we've kind of um gotten most of the build in on that and I will probably reach out to the inner cap loan ladies um and get our building reserve fund to a zero because if you look back in your board package to yellow the pink kind of salmon color page you can see there um in our building reserve fund. See, where's it at? 161. Um, you can see budgeted expended to date. Um, there. And so, um, it won't show the negative in there because it has the full budget in there, but that expended to date is, um, roughly what I will have to get, um, the loan for. Um, I waited as long as I could and now the
045treasur's kind of >> shame shame at me. So, um, they typically don't like you to go into the negative, but kind of, you know, rolled the dice and let it ride as long as I could before I got, you know, Eddie Con. So, um, other than that, I think, um, everything else pretty much business as usual. >> You heard anything on food services? Um we I have submitted um the monthly plan and but we submit that on the 10th of every month and we should receive it. Um the only funding typically that they I've got a notice that saying we have any hangup is um our G5 funding. Um and we typically don't request any of that grant money um my federal grant money until the spring. Um, >> so >> the rest of it
046I've been requesting and it's coming. >> How come I'm so far behind? >> Because um, Miss Ka was lazy. >> Oh, okay. >> With her, you know, she had some family issues. >> Sure. >> And so it'll all come in. So >> it works. >> That is it. And we and too we have had I will say that is a kudo to our lunch program um and our breakfast program. I would say probably 70% of our students eat breakfast. >> Yeah. >> Um lots of our high school students I would say almost 100% of our high school students eat breakfast. >> Yep. If you look at our lunch or you know the count on, you know, a monthly basis, we serve over a thousand breakfast. >> Wow. >> Breakfast is a huge hit up here.
047>> Those pretty good. >> Um they make smoothies. >> Yeah, they're really good. >> Um smoothies >> at the time I eat breakfast. They're delicious. Breakfast sandwiches are amazing. >> Yeah. And so our breakfast up here with our high school kids is extremely popular. Um they have their choice of like smoothies or um yogurt parfets. >> Um >> baked goods. >> Yep. >> They come up here and eat with the kids. >> No. I've asked why that's the one meal my kids do eat here. So that's why. >> So I mean those high school kids hit our breakfast pretty hard. >> Yeah. >> I mean usually they run out >> before because breakfast is hard for us to gauge. Um, but we have a lot of high school kids that eat breakfast and elementary school
048more so, but I would say 90% of these high school kids eat breakfast going down the hall. >> Yeah. Which is great to see that they're not running to Mountain View for breakfast like they do lunch, you know, um, coming back with whatever choice thing they purchase. But I mean, so I think we're stand to reason to see our lunch balances improve. So we just got to make sure we >> So it's in the negative anyway. >> Yeah. And it Yeah. It's just a little more than usual because Yeah. We're a month behind and how August gets worked out and but the government hasn't I guess USDA already got their aotment for money and they're considered essential so we keep getting that money. I don't know. It was all kind of confusing. So >> yeah,
049>> I don't know because I've had to call several places and they say they're essential but yeah, nobody answers >> and like you know you call the IRS and they'll say we're essential workers. We're here but please leave a message because we're on furow. So and the same with Carl Perkins and there's a few grants that have been that way but for the most part everything seems to be okay. >> Oh student count date. Okay, it's on the because we didn't have it together last time because of it in here. Did I miss it again? >> On the blue. >> Yeah. >> Um because we were having a little trouble getting our BK friends loaded up in there. Um >> from the beginning. >> Oh my gosh, my fingers. Um, but now that we've got
050them all loaded in, and again, like Miss Bronxy said, Bronxy Allen is invaluable there because I was struggling with aim to get it to work and I honestly had to wait for that fabulous lady to come back from vacation because I couldn't figure it out. So, I don't know quite hopefully she doesn't travel too much when she retires >> because you can call other schools that have trouble with name and they're like, "Well, did you talk to Roxy Allen?" And I'm like, "Well, she sits across from me and she's not here." So, uh, so kudos to her for getting me organized again. But we finally got our prek that prek's early literacy or whatever they want to call it is tricky. So, we got everybody in and we're good to go. So, >> any questions
051on that? >> Hold on. Okay. Good evening. Uh, want to begin by uh sharing that the NHS has added a six to the FD on top of the hill I look at every morning across the river on the block. Russ was a great help with that, but they uh Russ got the form board and and they climbed up there, moved it up there and and a couple weeks ago. And so if you have a chance to take a look at they are there's if you look I added this will be in my when I send this out tomorrow. This is a little flyer they have around. They're trying to do some fundraising to uh paint it next spring during uh Longhorn day and improve the lighting that uh that's no longer really working. But it
052was really pretty exciting. It was it was a really cool thing. We've had a lot of feedback, people wanting to have that taken care of. So, it was nice that again, thank Russ and and Mrs. Lynch for the the organizing the kids. The kids had it kind of as a as a project for them. So, they were pretty tickled. It's their class to have the six added there. So, it's been four years. So, bravo to them. The other picture I've included in my my report for tomorrow that you'll see when you get tomorrow is a picture of eighth grade students that went on a buffalo hunt to von uh last week and uh they visited Big Sky Bison for the buffalo hunt. There's going to be an article in the paper this week about it.
053Um and uh it's it's pretty cool. They learned about Native American traditions and they were encouraged to stay open, present, and grounded through it all. And uh it was a really great experience. The kids came back pretty, you know, there was kids that couple kids that drank buffalo blood and it was pretty pretty extraordinary some of the pictures. So, Mr. Klein and Miss Brown were the chaperrons and uh it was it was pretty amazing. Um, so that was a positive thing. I wanted to share we had our first uh fall academic awards uh yesterday. We had a really nice turnout of parents for the uh event. We included and I I'll give Mrs. Pry credit for this. Um she came up with the idea of adding stickers to the report cards. We didn't have to
054have an additional mailing or making phone calls to people. So we included stickers on the report cards identifying to parents that their student was going to earn an honoral award or a be the bridge award. Um and um so that I've given you a copy of the program again. Mrs. Fry was kind enough to put that together. Uh, she took initiative and did that. So, that's kind of cool. I have more of those colored sheets, too. >> They're short one. >> Okay, there we go. The sheet I've given you is a breakdown of the numbers. I thought it was interesting. Um, never having done this before with the honor roll. I decided to break it down and check the numbers. So if you look at the the number of students that earned honor roll by
055grade level high honor roll principal's academic honors and uh the total numbers we had 104 students recognized out of 150 possible kids. It's pretty extraordinary and just a reminder the honor roll is uh 3.5 to 3.74 they cannot have a D high roll is 3.75 to 3.99 cannot have a D principal's academic honors 4.0 or either. Um, so, uh, again, I thought it was a great success. We recognized two middle school students and four high school students. Cali and her girls were kind enough to build us a t-shirt to get for the Be the Bridge Award recipients and teachers nominated those students. And, uh, again, I just thought it was a I thought it was a great success. Um, you know, just again, the parent participation was was was really quite nice and uh, it
056actually paid off. We had parent conferences as Roxy mentioned. We've had parent conferences this week and because we had that assembly on Monday afternoon. I feel like we had better parent participation in conferences on Monday night after school. So um which was which was fantastic for us the parent. But teachers were pretty excited to have parents in the building. So that was our first uh that's our first quarter honoral assembly and we'll do that again after the next the following quarters coming up. like the elementary students, we were very very honored to participate in the Veterans Day assembly down at the park today. Um we're talking about things we can add to that sort of program in the future here at the middle school and high school, but we were just delighted to participate. The
057wind wasn't particularly cooperative, but that's the way it goes. And it's November, the sun was shining. It was a beautiful day, but uh so we were really happy to be there for that assembly today. Um Paul came to me uh about uh two weeks ago and had been approached by the Shoto County Sheriff's Department about buses on the exterior of our building. Not because of anything that happened on our school property, but because there's been some, let's just say, activity in the neighborhood. And the sheriff's department suggested that we consider having because if it's in the neighborhood, we want to be careful about that anything that could happen on our school district property. and they they also came in to ask if we had cameras that we would have caught this some activity that was
058in the neighborhood. So, uh Paul and I talked I talked to Cali. So, we have uh requested a quote for uh exterior camera cameras on the exterior of the building and um the challenge there is the internet. Um so, we're going to have to see. Um I talked to them. I know Carly, Mrs. Mayu's talked to them and uh they talked to Paul as well. And this time of year is a good time of the year. They're not particularly busy, so they're going to try to get the quote back. I was kind of hoping to have it by tonight, even the quote. But, um, Mrs. Mayu conveyed to me that it could be more expensive than we thought at first it might be. So, we're we're just going to have to take a look at
059that. But, um, just want to give you an update, a heads up that we're considering that both for the safety and security of our own facility. Um, for sure. Um, and it's we're at a day and age where probably because where that bus that bus bar sits, it probably be wise for us to consider that option. Mhm. >> So questions about that make sense? So um we are sending students uh for the first time that I'm aware you know in the in the past I I wasn't aware that students did that but our high school high school student council members are going out to the state convention whether it's 16th through the 18th in Great Falls. So that's kind of a cool thing and they're going to see some speakers kind of be a part
060of more some of the state student council leadership events. Um so that's kind of cool. Um, I mentioned the parent conferences and um, I wanted to point out that, you know, it it Jamie does an extraordinary job as our athletic director, but I think I would say to you that it's a it's been a gift that she's at the high school. You know, I think we she did a great job while she was elementary. I think she was trying to wear, you know, a couple different hats, but having her physically on the campus has made a huge difference as far as access to events and people and whatever. and she still runs around like a headless chicken, but she does a really really really great job and I think it just uh has made it
061I would like to think it's much easier for her. But I think it's we have a we have a better um a more accessible athletic director because she's here. So I did want to make sure and point that out too. So bravo to you Jamie. >> Um there's some calendar items which I'll include in my report when I send it out tomorrow. And that's about it for my report. >> Thanks for listening. Just just curious. Does FFA go this weekend? >> Yes, FFA's off tomorrow afternoon. Four o'clock. >> Okay. I couldn't >> We've been very busy out there. >> Oh boy. >> She's been doing Yeah. They've been practicing every lunch and every day after school. >> Boseman. >> Days or something. >> It used to be called Day. >> It was John Deere Egg
062Expo. John Deere had pulled out. It's just the egg expo. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. >> Death >> cuz they have all the teams. So, mechanics, Florida culture, >> Montana egg expo. >> Yeah. >> Everything goes and she has >> a lot of them. Like there's a lot. And her and Ethan has enough. >> Her Ethan and um Jim O'Hara >> and Kudos to Jim. Jim helps out quite a bit. who drives the bus and helps out with all the other stuff. >> 20. >> Yeah. But they have to drive back and forth from the Boseman's campus >> to the fairgrounds and then to the MSU farm. >> 23 kids, 24 kids, I think she said. >> There's the pile. >> That's pretty good. Good job. >> Yeah, she does a great job. >> She
063does an incredible job. >> Like my child is older than her. He'll never watch this. So I can say this if I She is more mature than he >> Okay. She's incredible. >> Yeah. >> You have first and second reading of policies. >> We just have the second reading of this. >> Second reading and second half of >> Yeah. Yeah. Do we have to vote on those? >> So So move Second. All those in favor? >> Okay. So, committee reports. >> We had a policy committee meeting just before uh to go over gym use agreement for the elementary gym. Um there will be some changes to this policy before it fully comes to the board for first reading. um couple additions and a couple of takeaways on it, but it's um basically stating the hours
064that the gym use is or the elementary gym will be available for wreck use. Um we're trying to do the elementary gym so it's not >> adult open gym. >> Yeah, adult so it's not interfering with any high school sports. Anything else, Dusty? >> That's that's it for policy right now. >> And I don't think there were any other meetings. So, >> there was an extracurricular meeting since our last >> Oh, yes. >> Oh, yeah. That wasn't >> that was forgot about that. >> Yeah, we had a large group of parents that came to discuss um wanting their fifth graders to be able to play and there was a lot of middle school ball. There's a lot of discussion but in the end we stuck with our original decision to keep it six. >> No.
065>> Okay. Any other I don't think there any other meetings. So, >> and the fifth graders were able to figure something out a leak. So, yep. >> Both the boys and girls. Everybody's good. Absolutely. >> Everybody's good. Okay. So, personnel reservations. Have there been any? Um, next on there is an executive close session. So, we will ask everyone else to leave. >> Okay. Um, we went into an executive session to discuss a personnel matter. um the employees right to privacy outweighs the public's right to know. Um at this time we won't be taking any action. So was what that was. Um do we have any hiring? >> So I guess picture agenda items. Sorry. I don't think we're over. >> We're all good. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> We need to schedule any meetings. Is that
066what that was? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, I guess we're ready to reserve. >> So motion. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> Thank you everybody.
