I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. There's something in my office. You need a motion? >> No, I was just making sure everyone was standing. So, if we're ready, um, any comments, questions? Okay. All those in favor? >> Oppos? >> Okay. Approval of claims? Some move. >> Second. >> Russ, I just had a question on VICO. $6,700. >> Was that the pipes? >> I couldn't tell you. I don't I don't have >> Huh? >> You want Did it say in there what what it is? >> Repairs on the boiler. It must be the maybe the bottom portion of it. >> Could be. I do you want me to go get the plane? >>
I just gota find which one it is. >> That's a different one. >> Well, there's two on page two. Next. >> There's another one on three. >> Three, please. >> Is it the three? The 6,000. >> 6334. >> Well, we have we have to pay it anyway. So >> yeah, >> we can approve it, but I'd like to kind of smooth it. >> You want me to get it now or later? Okay, >> we can go through here. >> Sorry. >> No, it's okay. We'll get it later. >> Okay. Are there other questions? >> What about the uh let's see on page two is There was a student leaving or something leaving reimburseed fees paid at at registration. That just said >> okay there was a student that that registered and then they left. I
can't remember which one that was. Do you remember Mr. H? Oh, great. >> Second page >> comments. I guess that could have been sense. >> And then I had another uh reimburse for Katrina. >> I just It's at the very bottom of page three. >> Yeah. >> Reimburse travel. We're in a we're in a Yeah, we're in a situation where we're fighting a >> sorry >> transportation contract kind of a thing. It's a unique situation >> and to discuss it, we'd have to we would and I I'd be happy to discuss it with you, but we would need to go to executive session to do that. >> Okay. um other than to tell you it's a it's a contract we've engaged in to in support of a student that we had entered or private. It's
a very unusual kind of situation quite honestly. >> Okay. >> Is it ongoing? Is it a one time thing? >> It's been ongoing for since the second third week of school. >> So it's been it's >> Yeah. It's it basically it's for the foreseeable future, but I don't know what that end date is to be honest. They've kind of left it open-ended in hopes it doesn't last forever, >> but um it was a >> Yeah, it was a a necessity. We just we just had to go down this path. >> Yeah. Okay. It's a solution to a challenging situation that we dealt with last year at the elementary school that I think you guys are all aware of that happened at the latter part of some like in March or April. >> So >> Yeah.
Right. >> And again it I would be happy to discuss it further with you if at some point if you want to make sure we discussing exciting close session after there any other questions. All those in favor >> to to the dollar amount is based upon I talked to Cali. Valley was involved in this um creating this this uh um reimbursement contract um transportation contract and we based it on a state rate per mile. That's how that's how it came about. The dollar amounts per mile issue every time and yeah every time a student is transported to school or transported home from school. >> All right. Okay. Um, no public comment since there's none communications to and from the board. >> Yeah, I haven't I haven't heard of this. >> None there. Um, I do
not have anything for the board chair's report. So, I guess activity directors for the board. >> So, she gives her apologies for not being here. She's down the hallway working at the volleyball mat. So, she sends her apologies for that. Um, and she has one recommendation to bring forward. uh she'd like to recommend uh Ray Allen as a volunteer with the middle school boys basketball program. Um she states that he's been involved with many athletic programs throughout his time here and he's willing to provide us support if and when needed. Um being because this season overlaps some of the boys high school fall sports and winter sports, they'll need extra people at times to help cover all our events with success. Um trying not to shorthand the number of adults we have uh for home
andor away games. So she's recommending to the board that we hire Ray Allen as a volunteer. >> Okay. So moved. >> Second. >> Okay. All those in favor? >> I oppose. >> That's it. Okay. So um on to maintenance and custodial. Um, if you've looked around at both schools, um, Jordan and Danny are doing a great job, both being Danny's been here for a year, but Jordan had just taken over and, um, doing a great job keeping the gym clean after the events and stuff like that. and that was kind of a new undertaking for him. Um, but he's willing to learn and he's doing a great job and I hope that he stays on the staff because he is um always asking questions and I know that Pat works with him and and uh
he he comes in ready to go to work and um whatever is needed and and Danny's doing the same thing at the elementary and I know Bronxy can attribute to that. Um the city crew came over and dug the pit for the bonfire and I appreciate that and covered it up in a couple days and um it's all smoothed back over and we're ready to go for the next year. Um the board for helping to serve the hot dogs. It it is always kind of great to have the board show up and the kids and um that evening turned out regardless of how homecoming um was spread out this year. The kids had a great time at that event and it was all different than out on the dirt and stuff like that and and
it got over on time and it was a great event. The volunteer fire department came over and did a drill last week and Brian, Joe, Damian, and Will was there. Kale um coordinated things and the sheriff's department had two deputies. We hope to do that again in the spring. It's a great deal, not only for us, but for the sheriff department to be there and our fire department to show up and um walk through the building and kind of familiarize themselves with the rooms and um what the building looks like in case there is an emergency um where they're needed. Um again, we hope to do that in the spring. The stack project is complete except for a damper that goes on the end. We do have a cover on it right now. We are
running the boiler. Um they had trouble getting that damper built and uh but we are running the project went as well as could be and they had everything in a couple days. We had it all together and set in there and was it was great to have that one done and out of the way. Um waiting for a finish to finish up the boiler at the end of it. Um, one of the copper fittings um was kind of specialized so they had ordered it and of course everything is kind of delayed at times. So that'll be put back together but we are up and running on on boiler one. Um both buildings are warm at this time and and um that's a good sign going into winter. Um contract extension is ready. Um we looked
it over today and it's ready to be printed. Um the dates are June 1st to August 15th and that was the only thing that we needed to make sure of and um so that'll start again in June and they'll have up to the 15th. Only way that that date would be extended would be if we were finding the finances to go with option two which was $77,000. um that would extend that probably by 10 days, but they would be done by the start of school. Um and and that's just that's hoping they'd be done in a month and a half and that's give them a leway of two months. Um the heaters up here at the high school, they're working on them presently. They were out there today. They'll be back tomorrow. We're really close
to getting those tied in and online. and they hope to be online within a week. Sewer project will start tomorrow afternoon or Thursday morning and that's by design. So that we didn't have the traffic pattern um with teacher convention down across that back shoto street. It just alleviates them a lot of problems, a lot of trucks turning around and and everything else. So, um, we designed that to go with team for the convention and he'll get that portion dug in, um, Thursday and Friday back into place and then he can work on the rest of it and Craig will be ready to put his portion in. So, that is ongoing. A lot of little things going on. outside sprinklers will be blown out on the 27th and um just an update recently uh we had
to acquire some ballast and you guys have heard this before and it's becoming very tough to get the ballast or these particular rooms on this side of the divide the ballast are becoming very hard to get and they put bulbs that we use uh Bob finally located after three different suppliers ers and normally you just make a phone call and I tried a couple different suppliers and I had the same luck that Bob did and they finally found some. So at some point the school district is going to have to look at LED lighting. That's that's just the wave of the future and I know that we had that in that levy but it's not permissible right now. So um it's going to be something that'll be forced upon us when we can't get any
parts. We were just fortunate we were able to get some. So questions. >> There any extra to order now? >> Huh? >> Is there any extra that you could >> I did I did order some I he he found some and I ordered more just so we have enough for a year probably. But it's going to be the the industry is forcing it not it's not us going out looking for like we were before. We were looking for LED to to upgrade. Now it's it's being forced out. So two years >> I mean like how what >> what's the timeline do you think >> of what >> before these we have not we run out of balance the year I'm I'm thinking that it it's coming Bob even says you know there are certain things
in the industry on on these kind of lighting particulars and stuff like that that they're they're just not making anymore. They just quit making them, >> right? >> So, I'm I'm going to say that supply is getting shorter and shorter. You be looking at next year and probably is the summer of the 26 at some point. going to have to bite it and start in on and that was our goal all along and and know this that we were going to start little phasing in of this so that the budget wasn't in a crisis. The high school budget obviously we know that the elementary budget is in a tight situation but the high school budget could do a couple rooms this year and not and not go into any kind of a levy or anything
like that. We could have have to work that out, but we could go with and and my idea would be to start with the foyer because they're on all the time. They're on 24 hours a day. Those are the ones that hurt. And then um anything that's going to be on extended periods of time, that cafe is on 24/7. The gym is already done. So, you're looking at the hallways after that and classrooms. And you could do one of these classrooms. Um, you know, like it's like $3,000. >> You cannibalize some of that for the next classroom. >> That's right. We we could fight up fight that off this year. Just start fighting little chunks of that off. And next year as the budget comes back in in June, we're going to be all right
again to start progressing towards that. Right now, everything is going towards implementing getting all this other stuff out of the way. We had weren't there some credits >> there still is for that and and they they they always say that it's going to go away so that they'll force your hand but they they've updated that they drop it a dollar raise it a dollar but it is still there are still credits out there from Northwest Enterp >> and we can take advantage of that even though we're peacemealing a project. >> Absolutely. Yeah. any anytime you do that through a registered contractor, they'll apply for that or we'll get the paperwork and Northwest will fill that out and we'll get that credit back and it's in the form of a credit not a check. So, I
I did it's funny this came up because I just did my shop today. I changed my my bulbs to LED bulbs and I took the ballast out and you just wire it direct. Is that what you're thinking? >> No. >> Okay. >> We're going to redo it. We're going to tear all these out and reduce the footprint. If there's four in here, there's only going to be three. >> Okay. New fixtures and reduce the footprint of all of these. >> Okay. Well, there's a more cost effective option if we need to. >> Yeah. >> So, but I don't know if they make 8 foot bolts, but they do make fours. >> Yeah. >> So, >> but that we that wasn't our we I've not up until right now. I did know that. >> Yeah. Yeah,
it's pretty easy to do. I was surprised. So, it's an option. Kick it around. So, and you can change the light. You just flip a little switch and you can change the light color. >> Oh, 30K, 40K, whatever you want. So, >> neat. >> So, yeah, >> it might be a good >> I was just wondering. Yeah, they probably have that too, but I don't know. >> Yeah, I was surprised. Okay, >> thanks for >> Hey, Roxy. Hey, thinking about multicolored lights. Okay, >> awesome. All right, you guys. Good evening. Um, a few of the highlights of September, not including all of them, but some of them, was a great picture day. Big thank you to Montana Fruit. Took some great pictures and barely had any retakes and everybody got their pictures this year. So,
we're excited about that. Um, and September 15th, our students went to the fort and had an awesome experience. They um our bigger kiddos went in the morning and then our younger students traveled in the afternoon and they went to heritage day. So it was really great. Women's club helped support and they had different stations. They got to learn a lot about buffalo tanning hides, things like that that local Native American tribes would have experienced here. So that was an awesome experience for our kiddos. And this is kind of funny. Yeah, I'm like I mean it's recorded, but our younger Longhorns did do great in the Longhorn parade riding their bikes. We only lost a few and we were and they were found. In fact, one of them was her daughter >> and Matt was with
her and we found Shelby here at the high school and I asked Shelby if she was afraid and she said no, I was fine. So anyways, I think Matt was more afraid and I were were more afraid than Shelby. So, great homecoming parade. We'll work on that. Maybe the order will change up a little bit next year to give our little Longhorns some safety. Um, we had a lockdown drill on September 30th and that that went well. Um, we make sure to chat with our kids about it. We never want it to be a scary experience. We want it just to be a experience that would prepare them for safety and and um ensure that they understand the importance of the following the procedure if we ever needed to have them. Cooking with kids was
back October 7th and that was great. I think there was 40 kids there. They really are getting a big turnout. The kids are really loving it. They got to make jam and yeah, it seemed like it was a great experience for them. We also completed our second fire drill for the year um in honor of fire prevention week and a big thanks to the volunteer fire department for that and Russ coordinating them was a great success. Yep absolutely. Um in terms of our MTSS and doubles report we have started mass testing. Mr. Holt, do you want to share what that acronym? I'd like you to show it to stands for >> measure of academic standard through year. >> Very good. >> Yes. So, in fact, the window opened yesterday. >> Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. So, we've
already had a couple classes complete a few tests. So, um I don't know if they started up here. Probably maybe not quite up here yet, but um the window is extended this year. I want to say it's extended through November. So, those are those state required tests. information has gone home to our families um in the form of a letter and also in my newsletter as well, so they're aware of that. Um in the works, we have a flu shot clinic coming up the 15th. So, a big thanks to the health department. We'll probably see Kylo there. You get to like hold him down this time. Okay, that's good. Um and we're excited for the Lions Club window painting. That'll be October 21st. The October assembly, which should be a great scary time, is going
to be October 31st. We'll also be doing our annual Halloween parade. That'll be at 1:30 because it's an early outfit. It's on a Friday. Um, and conferences are coming up November 13th through the 16th. So, it's it's like fast and furious. Do you guys have any All right, good deal. Hey, thank you. >> Thanks, Rox. Hey, clerk's reports. The only thing Kalen has on here on the agenda is it has child count. OPI has not gotten back to her regarding the prek kids. They're not showing up on a >> Rocky emailed me about that the other day. >> Yeah. Well, Rox is gone now. So, they've extended it, I think, until she gets back. You know, the it's going to be perfect. >> Yeah. >> We need to figure is it something that we code
done in there? >> You know, that I don't know. >> Okay. that I don't know what it is, but somehow they weren't showing up on OPI site. They're just not showing up. >> Okay. >> So, yeah. So, until that gets done and then Paul's here to explain about the enclosure if anybody has questions. >> Questions, I guess, about the what again? >> We're getting rid of that big trailer total because we don't use it anymore. We don't use trips and the new travelers have all the storage in the world underneath. So, >> okay. Um, it's just been sitting there collecting dust and rust. So, we're putting it up for absolute problem. >> I don't know if you have any input on whether we put a reserve on it or not. It is extremely heavy. >>
Yeah, I might include that in the paper. So, there's some details of it, but >> yeah, where's it? It's right next to the bus bar. >> I put a reserve on it. This >> it's 16 foot. >> Well, the the enclosed portion 16T. So, it's 20 foot trailer almost. >> I mean, by the time you park that thing out and scrap all the metal off, I mean, yeah. Might be ahead 300 bucks. >> Yeah. >> All the axles you can sell. So, yeah, it is heavy. It's 36 or 3,800 lb. And >> really >> have 10,000b 7,000 lb 3500 pound axles. Sorry. You put like 750 on it for reserve. >> Yeah, we could. I'm looking for input from all you. So >> I don't know what I don't know if anybody wants a heavy
trailer, but >> yeah, >> probably get something out of it. but also get rid of it at the same time. >> I know like used ones are like 5,000 bucks. But that's like most ramp. This is a biffold that's got the post in the middle. So you lose half your usability of what people are looking for, >> right? Yeah, that's true. >> Those other ones are probably fiberglass. >> Yeah. Or aluminum. >> Yeah. So this probably shock tires are an okay thing. >> Yeah, they're not. >> Uh there might be one that's weather check, but I mean it's got two spares come with it. So there's one inside and one to the front. So >> how are we going to advert this thing? >> And it just goes in the paper as a 16x 6'6
x 68 enclosed trailer heavy lift. So I don't look at me think a lot of interest in this trailer. >> Uh Russ seems to think there would be a lot of interest in the trailer. So >> I have two contractors that are looking at right now. >> 10,000 bucks. I was about to say we want 108,000 then interested >> if it doesn't sell lower it. >> Yeah. I mean thousand >> is selling people. >> Yeah. I think they're good. >> I feel like somebody would use it. I just I don't know what trailers are for sure. They're not cheap if it's in digital even though it doesn't have RAM like a cont drawback is the back door is going to have to be redone. So you're going to have you're going to have about I
don't know 9 850 900 bucks or something more than that probably in a double door and the hinges and all that stuff because that pillar in the middle is just like our doors out here. It you can't get anything in there. It's not like taking a four-wheeler snowmobile in there or anything like that. >> Yeah, it does unbolt. Yeah. Yeah. They still have to rework the whole support for walk in. So it really unless it's on time for somebody that's just going in and out and not >> right. Yeah. We can >> we have to have a motion on that. >> So moved. Guess it doesn't hurt to have one. >> Yeah, I think we do. Just >> Yeah, there second. Oh, sorry. >> You go. >> Just catch it too. >> All those in
favor? >> I opposed. >> Second. >> Okay. Your >> Hey, Mr. Hoo, you're up. Okay. I don't have a lot to report, but uh good evening. Nice to see you. Uh you were kind enough to give me the green light to hire. We had uh interviews for my high school middle school principal secretary uh a couple weeks ago and you were kind enough to give me a email response. So, we're going to officially hire uh Kathleen Fry tonight. She's doing a great job. She hit the ground running um less and less every day gear in the headlights. But uh but I I found out today that you know there's little things that we're going to discover that we probably should have talked more to Amy about and tomorrow morning is going to be one of
them because I'm not sure my bell's going to work tomorrow with the shortened schedule. So I'm going to find out in the morning because Kathleen's gone tomorrow. But anyway, it'll be exciting no matter what. So anyway, she's doing a great job. If you have a chance to stop by and say hello to her, I'm sure she'd she'd be happy to meet you. Um had some compliments about her today actually. So, um, I in I'll include in my report tomorrow. Uh, I've mentioned before that we're using this new honor roll. I've I've had it out. We've talked about it a couple times at the board meetings, but it'll be embedded in my my electronic version of the board report tomorrow if you want to take a look at it. So, we will this will be the
first at the end of this quarter in early November be the first time we will recognize kids using the new system plus the be the bridge award. And uh for the be the bridge award, I got some input from student council and and national honor society last year. We're actually going to give the kids t-shirts for that. Um, there was their suggestion. So, Callie and her girls are working on a t-shirt design for me. Um, we've begun, I know this is confusing, but we've begun the measure of academic progress map testing. That's the one we're we're paying for. Mast is the test that the state gives. And so, we started we just had our first cohort this fall of seventh and eighth graders here at the middle school and high school. And Roxy tested three,
four, uh, five and six. And so, um, the good thing about the measure of academic progress is you get data pretty quickly and the teachers are being trained as to how to use that data to influence their instruction. And, um, we'll do that three times and we're going to get to chance to see a beginning of the year, a middle of the year, and end of the year. So, we can have see some growth and that kind of thing. And the the reports and the graphs are really impressive. So, I've asked Roxy at some point when we get a couple tests under our belt to give you a chance to look at some of the data so you can see how it is we're looking at the data. And it's it's just such a much
better data source than the mass testing is because we're getting it. It's almost it's it's pretty we get the reports back right away. Um, and once we have a second batch and a third batch and then go into next school year, I mean, you're going to get to see start to see some, you know, chronological data. It's going to be really, really good. So, I bring that up just to let you know, we've begun that. We have not started the mass at the middle school yet, but that's soon coming to a classroom near you. So, um, and as I said, Roxy's working with the teachers to to train them as to how to analyze it. So, we've got these wonderful cute colorful graphs or whatever. So, what do we do with that and how does
that impact individual kids and how we how we served them? >> Um, I wrote down flu shots on the 20th, but are we doing the is it 21st? >> 21st. Uh, I wrote that down here and I couldn't I couldn't remember. I I was pretty sure. So, we're doing flu shots here next week. And we also took our middle school kids day today. We're triple booked tonight. School board, CCPA, and the volleyball. We took our middle school kids over to the um um elementary school auditorium today. Um, and this a great service that they've offered us as a school district. So Margie Scheler and I have talked and depending on the performance what what the kind of performance it is. Sometimes they're coming to just our maybe a high school band class or a high
school choir class depending what they are. Sometimes we've been taking middle school kids. Last year we took the middle school and the high school kids at one time. So it's a great opportunity for our kids. And today we just took the middle school 7th and acres over. Nice day afternoon for a walk. And these three little these three girls from Alaska did an ac capella things. Was it was really cool. So we were happy to be a part of that. And I think the only other thing, there's some dates on here. The only other thing I that like Roxy mentioned, we have parent conferences coming up uh the 13th through the 16th of um November. Um yeah, that's about it. Questions? 13th. >> Okay. So, committee reports and meetings. Do we need to schedule any
committee meetings? No, we need all C second reading. No, that's just the for second reading. First and second reading for >> Yeah. Well, >> we did the first first and second reading for policy and so for the policy and dusty can update, but it's got what you would have for a second reading. >> No, >> as well as first based on what we went through at. So everybody should have um couple piece of papers in front of them. One that is a session of first reading policies uh that we need to go through or get a do a first reading on tonight. Um all the policies that we had come up in this last go last two go rounds were legislative um changes and new laws and stuff. So, um, pretty much all required in
a sense. Um, some did have some options that we did, uh, or had to choose through and that's all on the second reading policy that we've already gone through. Um, so the policy you see 301 through 2165 won't be second reading tonight. And then on the first page is the ones that we did the other night and will be first reading tonight. Um the other thing that we uh talked about at the policy meeting and we'll pass these out. Um we needed to do an update to our drivers at policy. Um we had I guess we had some issues with the page. >> Basically what what the policy said didn't match with what we were practicing. >> Yeah. what we're actually doing. And so we updated the the verbiage to match what we're actually doing.
Which one? >> Drivers app. >> Drivers at that be the one that's just coming to you. >> Um basically what we're or >> Yeah. What's what's highlighted in yellow is what we've added. >> So it's it's just um wording that we've added to clarify again that just matches our practice. Um there was discussion of every year. This here's another example how we have we try we it's prioritized by grade level and then it's prioritized by age within that grade level. So the freshman the grade 10's guess sophomores would have the first go grade nines and then grade eights and this year we had no grade eights taking it this fall but we have few enough kids second semester that there's a window of opportunity for about six eighth graders and it's the last no other
student beyond those six can take it because of their age. So, um, Mr. Lime was kind enough to allow a space where we're taking 16 kids next semester, assuming we don't get any other new kids in that co, you know, that age group in that range. But, um, this this just matches, like I said, what we've been practicing. So our our recommendation through the policy committee is that we adopt all these and go through on the first reading and s the first reading and the changes of the represent policy as well >> and then we need to approve the second reading right so >> yeah I need a motion to move the second >> I'll make that motion that we approve the second reading policies >> second any questions questions. If not, then all those
in favor >> opposed. Okay. Are there otheries that like meetings that need to be scheduled buildings and grounds? >> What about the the teachers union? >> Is there any updates on that? that the classified met with representative Frank came from. >> We need to get more union members. >> Yeah. >> No, we've got enough. >> Okay. >> Yeah. There are quite a few at the elementary. >> So they that we need to get a letter from the union to open negotiations I think is generally how >> Yeah. So until we get that we don't need to take the >> this year as teachers I remember the secrets correctly. Right. We did that. But we basically >> I think it's classified. >> We did classified last. Didn't we approve a classified increase last spring? >> I
thought it was the other way around. Classified last spring. >> Yeah, I think it's classified. >> Okay. So, we'll have to check. >> Yeah. Okay. I could be wrong. Yeah. >> That one way or the other to your point. Yeah. Yeah. To your point. Will extracurricular be addressed in the adult open gym. >> Oh, we didn't discuss they didn't send out. Remember she was going to put together one review and it was not sent out yet. >> But we didn't discuss the basketball situation during the athletic director's report either. It wasn't a Yeah, I mean we she gave me information about it but it wasn't um and no one approached her about it. So the only people approached though I've been approached too. >> Yeah. So I was approached >> this morning. I mean so
we I mean that that can be discussed whether we >> there was no action to be taken I believe on that. Um >> it's action at board discretion. >> Yeah. >> I thought given her email we were going to bring it up and then I didn't even think about it for the higher >> Yeah. Sorry. >> Do we need to discuss it? So follow >> well it was it was brought up to me. You should give her direction. Mhm. >> that as long as there's no overlap of, hey, we're not going to take the fifth graders, if there's no, you know, take back seis and they steal them from their league in this year, everything's fine. As long as it's cemented, like, hey, we're definitely not taking fifth graders so that way those younger classes
can get a Salvation Army team put together and then not have it disbanded. That was like the one of the main concerns. Well, they're kind of young, too, >> right? >> I'm inclined to just follow Jamie's recommendation. Um, the the discussion that I was overhearing today that I was a little uncertain about was that, um, in class B, um, most most of the schools she gave us that she had contacted and got information from are only doing six through eight. The one exception was Shodto, who is going back to six through eight next year. So, um I think that's relevant information, too. But the other thing that I didn't realize is that if you have enough kids, you can actually feel three separate teams. So, they have a game that's it's like an A B
C team. It doesn't even have to be by age. So, technically there's room >> for all the kids and you can kind of organize them by skill level, but still the other schools, most of them are having fifth graders. So, >> yeah. And they're not even fielding three teams based on what I heard today as well. >> Yeah. A lot of them only have two. >> Yep. And so she said that when they the week before they ask how many teams you're bringing and then they create the schedule for the >> J or whatever it is they're doing. I haven't looked at the schedules. So >> I was approached by one who indicated that they would like to the kids would like to play up or play what whatever. Um I guess one question I
would have too for Jamie or is there enough coaching staff to if you bring up I don't know how many kids it would be in addition >> that adding coaching. Yeah >> right that's I mean yeah with the existing co approach the extra five to six kids that might be coming. Yeah, >> I I kind of tend to go with it too recommendation as well. >> Yeah, >> and I support that recommendation as well. >> The other thing is that she pointed out in here that we we it's an unknown is the level of competition. And the best example she gave me, it's not in basketball, it's in football. If you saw the middle school football game against Shinook a couple weeks ago, those those eighth grade boys were huge compared to our sixth. I
think Carlo was there with that injury. >> Yeah. And we got kids injured or whatever. So, and I recognize football is a different sport than basketball, but um you there's a there's a high school kids 9 through 12 generally start to come closer together in terms of physical maturation, but in middle school 5 to 8, there can be a huge disparity between the physical maturation of our kids. So, um, and I think I think when we back to Joe's point, when we look at the the way the the district is going, I would think we'd want to stay with what the the the norm is for the rest of the kids schools we're going to be competing against. So, >> I think we could acknowledge that change is hard sometimes and we don't know where
we're getting into. And these kids that are going in the kids that are fifth graders this year got to play as fourth graders last year with our fifth and sixth graders. So they feel probably a little left out not having a school opportunity, but >> I think >> I still think this is the right thing to do. >> Yeah. >> And I think the competition that they would find in like a league outside of the school would be more appropriate for their skill level and age. >> Yeah, I think so. >> There could be six years difference potentially between period and fifth period. >> Yeah. That's a huge >> Oh, that time in that eye is really huge. >> Yeah. >> Mentally and physically it makes a lot of difference. >> Yeah. >> Lots of
times even with seventh and eighth graders, you see a huge difference. >> Yeah. >> Yep. And that's why middle school football so scary. >> Um, are we good to move on? Okay. >> I'm not aware of any committees though that were scheduled for thinking about meeting all the policies. >> So, so do we need to wait to discuss the open demo until it's ready? >> Yes. >> Yeah, please. >> Okay. So on to personnel. >> Uh no resignations that I'm aware of. Connie. Okay. >> So uh first one and uh Paul you can speak to this but I would re ask the board to um accept I believe Darby Rearen as a volunteer activity director. Anything else you want to share about that? >> Uh he's currently an active sheriff's officer here in county. Um
he has his class A. He's actually been a CDL instructor before >> and he wants to volunteer. Yeah. >> Yeah. So, he's got kids coming up. They're real young kids, but he'd like to have the opportunity to help out. I mean, he's the background check and everything, which I hope you would being a sheriff. >> So, >> Yeah. Second. >> All those in favor? >> Opposed? This is a sort of new something that we need to move forward and Rox and I haven't still had a chance to do this but we have volunteers now we're required to have them do the fingerprinting check. We've been doing that for a while but it you know we had a conversation about the fact that as we as those people the fingerprints come back and they're going to
begin to do that at the elementary school. We feel like the board should be made aware of who those people are. Um there a lot of our previous teachers I mean they're background checks are coming back clean. They're doing us an incredible service to support us, but we also felt like we should probably make aware make you aware of who who's in our school. So, this is a and I apologize. >> Yes, that pronounc um I' I'd like to ask the board accept her as a volunteer at the elementary school. >> Second. All those in favor? >> I opposed. And I think what we'll do is I'll talk to Roxy about maybe we could, you know, sometimes we've had these lists of students and names. We could just show you a list, have her present
a list, so you can see kind of who's there. Now, um people who have been gone through the fingerprinting check already, whatever, so we could maybe just sort of blanket approve so that so you're aware of who those people are. Kathleen Fry is the nice lady I mentioned to you. includes my new high school middle school secretary and I would ask your blessing of her hire as as that in that role. >> Second. >> All those in favor >> post. >> The last one, you know, these these last two, Kathleen Fry and now this Tracy Anderson, you know, you you you you search and search and search just like Jordan. You talked about Jordan's been an incredible find and no one's applying, no one's applying and then out of the clear blue you get people
walking in your front door and this Tracy Anderson her and her husband have moved here. They have a daughter that's a baby and lives in Belt and they they've settled here really. She's a former teacher and um she wanted to be on our substitute teacher list and that's how it started. And then I knocked on her door and asked if she wanted to be parah. And so she's willing to be a parah part-time. And then we're going to use her in both roles depending. But she's been working that we'd like to I'd ask your your blessing to hire her as a part-time parah, but also as a substitute teacher so we can use her in either capacity depending on need. >> So moved. >> Is this an elementary or high school? >> High school. >>
The resource room parah. >> In the resource room. Yeah. And that's pending her her background check. But >> second. All those in favor >> I >> oppose. Love it. >> That's it. >> Okay. Um future agenda items. >> The only thing I would have is the second reading on those policies >> and Jim and we need to have another meeting on that before it goes to the board. >> I think if it's a oneoff policy like that You're going to >> I don't have any money to >> All right, I'll take one. >> Show me that. Did you did you cook him? did the guy that put the guy first >> took you five minutes to come in here. debating on the most. If I bring you >> Thank you, man. Thank you. >> Trying
to ask the girl with it first. >> As far as that policy goes, do you want to just do one? It seems just a single. So basically what she was looking at is what we discussed was um reworking the policy we have but have it be more specific for uh gym rental, elementary school gym rental on certain, you know, changing the the nights that would be available Wednesday and Sunday night. Um so um we can do it one of two ways. We can have a meeting or I can have her email that out and have people give it a thumbs up kind of thing before we bring it to the board. >> You want to just meet like 15 minutes or 20 board meeting? Yeah. 6:30. >> 6:30. Yeah, >> that's on November 11th. >>
And we're the second Tuesdays. >> Yeah, it says 11. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any other future agenda items? Okay. So, we need a motion to adjurnn. So, move it. All those in favor oppos. Thank you. >> We'll need our help down there. >> They're down two games to nothing in the third.
