001Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right, welcome everyone. Um, >> okay, everybody in the audience, please make sure you sign in on the guest sheet. Okay. Um, any public comment tonight? Start things off. No. All right. Then we'll jump on down to reports. So, we have student council and senior class. >> Doing senior class. Hi, I'm Ruben from the STE uh student council. Um so some past events that we had going on uh this last month as we had a pep assembly for districts. Um and yeah, for districts and division divisional games. Uh we had a little basketball themed game, everything but a basketball. Uh it was quite fun. It was it was ridiculous to watch though. Um uh we want to thank

002the yeah we wanted to thank the cheerleaders for their energy and Mr. Overton for running the music. Um some upcoming events that we have is uh we're hoping to we're hoping in promoting a fundraiser on Friday as pajama day for the Peterson family who just lost their home in that fire. Um, and then, uh, we have our last high school funday next Tuesday, March 24th. Uh, we're taking 22 kids to Red Red Lodge Mountain. And, uh, everyone else will stay here and watch movies, play games, whatnot, in uh, some high school classrooms. um and student council. We were looking toward the end of the year activities uh which is coming faster than we thought with ideas of staff versus senior softball game and uh grad cap grad or decorating um and just some final student

003body activities and then some ongoing events that we're still doing. Uh we're continuing to encourage students involvement and participation in school activities. We're welcome to new ideas and opportunities. Um, yeah. Any questions or comments? >> So, I I just want to be clear. The pajama day, that's the fun that's the fundraiser. >> I think so. >> Is that correct? Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, if kids wear pajamas or in order to wear pajamas, they have to pay. >> Yeah. It's like a dollar a dollar or whatever they want to donate. And Kathy, if you want to pay a dollar, you can stay at home in your jammies all day. >> I would pay more than that to stay home all day in your jammies. I'll tell you. >> Yeah. So, >> is that an option?

004>> Pay to stay home in your jammies. >> Yeah, I'm going to stay home in my jammies. >> I'll send the money with. >> Yeah, that's all I got. So, you guys have any questions or comments? >> Thank you. Hi, my name is Annel and I'm here to propose the senior skip day it attenerary to get school board approval. So, the plan is um to leave the school at 8:30 a.m. and go to the Cody Rec Center in um Cody, Wyoming, and then stay there for about 2 hours and then getting pizza from Pizza Hut and then eating at the Cody Rec Center there or at the city park and then from 12:45 to 2:15, probably going bowling and then departing back to the school about 2:30 p.m. with a postal stop for ice cream

005later on. So, and it would be our um we have it budgeted and it's based on 33 seniors, three class advisors, and then two others. So, any questions, I guess. >> Does that leave you enough money for all the other stuff you have to do to finish the year as a senior? >> Yes. Um cuz our class fund we right now have $1,647 and that would take about $755 leaving us with $892 which with our what we've calculated gives leaves us enough money for everything else we have planned for graduation. So >> and for your senior class picture whatever thing >> that goes spendy every year. Actually, um, we have Kensington's planning on making the print h ourself and so it's cutting down on the price a lot. So, >> well, I will say Kathy

006and I were talking. It used to be senior skip day. You all just left and went to Cooney or something. >> I kind of like the idea that you're supervised into something positive. >> So, I would like to compliment the senior class for doing that. Maybe they have been doing it for a while, but I think that's a good thing. So, I do support that because it used to be it's like, yeah, we're not going to tell anybody. It's just none of us going to show up on. So, I think this is much safer and much more positive. So, you guys have arranged a bus and a bus driver? >> I am not 100% sure on that. I bet Miss Alton has though. So, >> okay. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. >> Middle

007school. >> Yeah. Good evening everyone. I'm Annie Ingram. I'm here for the middle school student council. Um the last couple weeks we Miss Gell got many courses finished. She I want to thank her for doing most of it. So it wasn't a big wait on me, but um we we have bunch of kids we have the whole middle school going I think. So, we have 40 kids skiing um tomorrow morning and then 33 kids going to the rec center tomorrow and the bus leaves I think at like 7 a.m. for the skiers and pretty and regular time for the rec center. Um on another note, we've continued to get ready for the middle school dance that we have planned, which is still the same date, which I already approved with Miss Hernandez for the gym

008on April 10th. Um the time that we were thinking was from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. if that was approved by kind of the time where the gym was at during that. Um and continuing with that, I had two committee meetings today. We also um got all the money constriated throughout the groups. Um so each has a budget to kind of work with so we're not spending too much money and we have a little chunk to take some out in case we need to. Uh we have a grocery list for snacks too and a starter list for decorations that we got finished today. And we're going to keep working on that continuing one Friday. Um our next meeting is this th Thursday which is the 19th and that's pretty much where we've gotten the dance. Moving

009forward on the 25th of March, we are selling crispy cream donuts in both lobbies again as we previously did. We're going to try and let the elementary kids know a little bit better this time so maybe they know to bring some money. Uh because of the very sad loss of the recent fire, we're going to fund raise money for the music family. Um that way so we were going to propose that to the student council at the next meeting so that we're doing a bunch of fundraisers for those things. Um also the dinner theater at the community center. It's kind of an annual thing. We're going to propose that to our student council and have a couple people go up and do that a couple nights in a row as kind of a community service

010thing. But I think that's all I've got. Does anyone have any questions? >> Yeah. >> So, how many shaper rooms do you have for these 73 middle schoolers? >> Actually, I don't a lot. I don't know the exact number, but I know that there is a lot of We had I think we even had to cut a couple parents because there was a lot of parents. >> Okay. Well, so Mrs. Carell doesn't have to be in charge of all. >> No, Miss Carell doesn't have to be in charge. >> She doesn't even have to be there. >> Yeah, >> I think she's she's going to the rec center tomorrow. So, yes. Anything else? Thank you guys. >> Thank you, Annie. >> Thank you. >> Um, elementary principal. >> All righty. Um, we had our February

011sore assembly on Friday the 27th of February. Our March source assembly is going to be next Friday the 27th. Um, the elementary along with the rest of the schools celebrated National FFA week, the week of February 21st with dress up days throughout the week. And then there was a drawing and coloring competition specifically for the elementary students. Uh so thank you Miss Milton and Miss Gruell and all the FFA students for arranging that for the elementary kids. Then the next week we celebrated ReadAcross America week and Dr. Seuss's birthday with a whole another week of dress up days for the elementary kids. 10 straight days. So a lot of dress up days in a row. But um thank you Miss Posie for arranging all those special events for the elementary kids and we had the

012end of the third quarter last Friday or last Thursday and with the cancellation parent teacher conferences will start mailing out those report cards home uh this week. And last week we had a few different field trips take place. The fourth and fifth grade students went to a Montana Shakes production in Red Lodge. And then our kinder one, kindergarten, and first graders all went to a play at Alberta Bear Theater. Um the first ever Kinder One field trip. So that was really exciting and everything went smooth. So thank you to Miss Ker for arranging all those events for the kids. And with the testing update, we had a total of 18 juniors take the optional SAT last Wednesday, the 11th. Those scores should be posted onto their College Board accounts sometime the first week of April.

013And want to thank Miss Kerper, Mr. Counter, and Mr. Beggar for proctoring those exams. And the junior class is going to be taking the statemandated ACT on Tuesday, April 14th. And for lower level testing, the second mass testing window closed on March 6. And then the third and final mass testing window will open on March 30th. And that remains open till the last day of school. All right. Any questions, comments? All right. Thank you. on to middle school high school principal. >> All right. Um, quarter three ended uh last Thursday, March 12th. Um, so we are full on in quarter 4. Uh, had a lot of field trips, too. Uh, Miss Atkinson took the sophomore class to on her kind of annual now Hart Mountain field trip on February 23rd. Um, Annie touched on mini

014courses. They're um, tomorrow and then next Thursday, the 26th. Um, and the student council has been really helpful in taking that over and kind of organizing that, kind of mirroring how we do it in high school. Um, Mr. Richard talked about FFA week, but yeah, we were dressing up in the high school as well, so that was fun. Um, we had, I think, right around 109 middle and high school kids go to the math competition last Monday, the 9th. Um you might have seen the results but seven the seventh and eighth grade and the ninth and tth grade teams took first place. 11th and 12th took second. Um and we had Austin Shelik who placed third overall and he received a scholarship for that placing. So we had Mrs. Peters, Mrs. Grell, Mrs. Spokeley Loma

015chaper owned a bus. We had two very full buses and like really an energy when they were like leaving the school that day. They they released I think at 3:00 and they were like they were jacked a go. So it was fun to see um and did really well. Also note not noteworthy on that day I think that Sam successfully executed seven trips um in addition to the route. So we had I think four or five the math competition a 56 basketball game in Shepard like he said don't ever do that again but we didn't. Um Mrs. Cook and Miss Nelson took 18 kids to the MSUB Expo welding field trip. Mr. Beger was there as well um last Thursday. Um Mrs. Richard had state BPA on the 8th and 9th of March. Um, so

016she has four kids qualified for nationals in Nashville. Um, Zade, Anna, Elizabeth, and Leo all qualified to head to nationals in May, right? Okay. Um, honor society applications went out today. Um, Mr. Price is working on senior presentation schedules, scholarship interviews. Um, all of those year-end things are getting on the books and sneaking up fast. Um, Mr. Rana has Tri County Honor Band tomorrow in Huntley. Um, and I think went through like the if you were at tournaments for those two weeks to see the pep band and um, just their presence and energy and I think just just a really classy bunch. So, thanks to him for being there and driving them there and just doing a great job. Um, scheduling meeting this Friday. We have set up to keep working on the master schedule

017for next year. um and getting trying to get those pieces put together. Um Billings Clinic immersion day where they go and and I actually do the job shadowing and then this the simulators is this Thursday. Mrs. Nardiner and Miss Heraford are taking students to that. Um state FFA is March 31st through April 4th. I don't have a number on um how many kids in this mountain and this girl will be taking, but they will be gone for quite a while. Um, and all seniors are on track to graduate. We're currently calculating with the end of quarter 3 kind of calculating and confirming those class rankings as we're wrapping up. Busy busy. Yeah. Does anybody have any questions or comments? Um, Mr. Hernandez, >> two things. One, I do appreciate the fact that when they went

018to the math contest, one of the drivers had to then take some kids back down to get to Honor Man >> and back. So, they did do a shuttle like that, which was good, you know, because we have kids that are in a lot of different things. >> And you don't want to miss >> and BPA. >> And the BBA >> and the BPA had the same. >> Oh, yeah. It was >> It was all at the same time. And it's like, you know, it's like, are you going to be able to Yep. They're going to just drop us off. It's okay. >> Yeah. I was tracking my kids' phone. I was like, WHAT IS HAPPENING? WHY ARE THEY DRIVING AROUND IN what is this bus doing? >> The other thing I thought was good

019is I thought that that our our our crowd that went on the pep on the pep bus or the fan bus and then I know that I talked to Mr. Baker and he said they weren't sure they wanted us down there and he said I want them down on the floor because I can keep track of them >> and they all behaved and it was really good. It was nice to have a student cheering section down there. I thought that was very positive. So, >> and I think through the I mean from my perspective, maybe I'm biased, but through those two weeks and seeing a lot of different schools, our student section, our pep band, and you I mean, even our fan section, it was just um a lot better choices and a lot classier

020than I would say any school that that I saw there. Some really poor choices from other schools. >> No, I I agree. you know, and we were there for most of it. And uh it makes me proud to be from this school >> and I appreciate you guys, you know, and everybody that's involved that take these kids and with the pep band and the and the sports and everything. It's good sportsmanship is very important and I want to keep that here. >> Yeah, I would take it one step. One of the big things I noticed, Ken, um I think our kids showed up, parents show up like they always do, but you looked out at Metra in the games that we were playing. there was a lot of the community there uh behind our kids

021that they didn't even they don't have kids they're they're you know just supporting the school and supporting the community uh which I thought was really powerful and a good message and I think that goes for you know um all of our activities um but my hats off to the community for supporting all of our kids um all throughout that process. >> Yeah, I echo Ken's remarks. I thought it was really cool that our pet band was always there and they sounded great. um you look great and then our fan bus. I thought that day was great that we got some extra kids there and whatnot and um you know there it's a lot going on. So hats off to administration for handling that and to our AD and and then also I mean to the

022bus drivers, all the bus drivers, our volunteer bus drivers, our route drivers, like everybody put in the extra work there and just like you were saying with all the other stuff that's going on too. Yeah. So, um, really hats off to to all of our drivers. That's a big undertaking. >> Yeah, for sure. >> All right. So, moving on. Activities director. >> All right. >> Hi guys, John Counter, activities director. So, I got quite a bit because I'm going to recap the winter sports season and preview into the spring sports season where we have a few more options than we usually do most years. So, I'll start off with high school boys basketball, winning the district championship. Fun night. I It's hard to beat what that night was. Had a great showing at the divisional

023tournament. Won a game there. Worst battles in the other two. Want to thank Mr. Rollson and his staff for the great season and the time that they dedicated. Uh high school girls basketball, they concluded at the district tournament, saw improvement throughout the year. Want to thank Coach Goodri and her staff for their time and dedication as well. High school girls wrestling, we had one. Uh Kaylee, unfortunately her season ended short because of injury. She hurt her knee. Uh coach though said that she showed great improvement before the injury. So that's always great to hear that from those coaches. Uh our boys from high school wrestling. Kevin had a great year. He was one match short of making the state meet at the Metra, so he was really close. And then Tristan finished second and stayed

024at 165 and was in a great match. Uh make sure not to text anybody beforehand. NFHS is apparently a little slow on the delay. So, sorry about that, Mr. Richard, but it was a great performance there on Tristan's behalf. He represented us well. Uh, middle school boys basketball had a great season as well. Saw a lot of improvement. I want to thank Mr. Baker, Mr. Croft, and Mr. Dinsdale for the work throughout the season on that. Um, I had Columbus as one of their one of their guys came to me. He's like, "Yeah, I saw a kid dunk in warm-ups." And I look over on the other side. I'm like, "Well, we got no shot." So, I thought that was pretty funny when he told me that. I have I have a cousin's son who

025played against it and I saw him down at tour tournaments. I said, "William basketball?" "Yeah." >> Said, "Did you play Jolliad?" >> Oh, man. We got beat by 40 every time. >> That's the way it's supposed to be. >> Yeah. So, middle school boys wrestling, we had one Braden Shuttle. He was in it and was able to make it there and do a lot of meets. Heard a lot of great things for him on that one. Um speech and drama, their state was in Townsen. Sophia got fourth in at state. Austin got fifth. Uh Ellie got 16th and Aubrey got 17th overall. Coach Reed and Coach Herford did a great job with that. A lot of travel for them on that front because divisionals was in Jefferson and then the next week state was in

026Townsen. So they got quite the scenic view of that drive a couple of times in a row there. Winter cheer did a great job throughout the season at basketball games. Uh they had a great performance. They were able to do their performance that they're planning on doing at the cheer competition at the Metra and heard a lot of great things from other administration there. They're going to continue that with their cheerfest competition. I believe that is Friday, >> the 20th. >> Yep. So, Friday. And so, I want to thank Coach Ward for her time and dedication to the program. She's doing a great job with it. Now, uh the last one there, fifth and sixth grade boys, Mr. Shepard and myself were the coaches on that. We just wrapped that up last Thursday. It's amazing

027how quick the season is once they're in it. And it was fun to watch that improvement. I mean, it feels like you want a couple extra weeks with them because you can address a couple of things that you want to throughout the season. So, I want to thank Mr. Shephard for helping me out with that. Transitioning into spring sports track starting up this week. They started yesterday. Uh they had 45 kids yesterday. That's the most numbers I've seen since I've been here, which is a great great thing to have. And I think those numbers are going to keep going up, seeing kind of what we got in middle school. Uh we're going to have about we're including six. So sixth through 8th, we're at about 40 to 45 for middle school. So we'll have quite

028a bit of think I didn't think we were adding sixth grade to track. >> We did this year based on our interest survey between seventh and eighth and we >> I found that out later today, Ken. >> Yeah, that one. >> I didn't think that. >> Yeah. So the the idea there was that the number actually with um last year just our seventh and eighth graders um was higher than it it was with this year with adding sixth grade. So, we were still able to provide that opportunity uh to him. >> I think it's good it's good to give it to him. He was incorrect. >> Yeah, we left him in the dark. >> Well, you know, when I'm lied to by the superintendent, I start to get angry. >> It's my fault, Mr. Adams.

029>> So, Mr. I forgive you. >> Yeah, it's it is I think 42 or 43 was the preliminary number of six through eight this year and last year I think we were at like 46 with just seven eight. And so that's that speaks to the programs that are being built here because kids are wanting to go out and wanting to do activities. So our numbers keep increasing in that which is great. >> Uh speaking of growing programs here, uh golf is starting up through Framberg this year. Uh Bridger, ourselves, and Framberg are all joining that co-op together. We've been knocking out the schedule. I think it's great. Obviously, I was a high school golf kid and I think it's a great thing that we can offer. Uh >> do you have numbers? Uh he told

030me 15 between the three schools. So enough to do about ours. >> I think we haven't seen the number yet. I would say from here. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> So Karen's at that parent meeting tonight and she'll be joining us as soon as they're done. So maybe she'll have an update there too. >> Yep. And I asked Mr. Lowry too to get me any materials and get some numbers in there so I can get a little bit better idea of what their expectations are along with how many we actually have from our school with them. So another co-op we're doing is baseball. here. We're co-oping with Columbus Red Lodge in Park City for this one. The host school is Columbus. And it sounds like they're excited to have us. I asked Tristan today how

031many we have from us. It is two. So, it's Tristan and Tig are over there doing baseball over in Columbus. So, that's nice to be able to provide that for them as well. And then our last co-op is softball. We're with Laurel in this one. Sounds like their coach is very excited to have us on board with their program. I know they've had a past history with a couple of our kids here that make it a little easier transition and a little closer to where you don't have to go all the way to Central. You can go to Lo instead. So, if that's all I got, if anybody's got any questions, I have no objection to sixth grade um participating in track. Um, I just get worried about the numbers that it was just making

032sure that we have enough coaches covering everything and that we're actually building skills within those kids and not just a free-for-all. >> Right. And we've covered that base pretty well. I believe we have five high school and four middle school. >> Well, I think I believe at this time three middle school were hired knowing that that fourth is in is what we've always had and then we would hire as needed dependent on numbers. >> Correct. Um, so yeah, definitely more coaches on the field than there ever have been and they do kind of all share based on their expertise. Um, so I'm really optimistic that it's going to be beneficial for all of them from 6 through 12. >> For sure. >> Um, and I think it's just communicating that like it is a year

033to year. You know, it could be different next year. Maybe next year it's only 78. >> Um, but if we're able to give them the opportunity, I think it's good for him. >> Yep. I agree. just based on the overall number and some years you got a class of 40 and all of them want to go out for track. So maybe that sixth grade doesn't get it and some years it's not quite like that. So >> and the sixth grade this year is pretty small. >> I think they're 20. >> There's only 20 in the in the whole crew. So >> Yeah, that's okay. >> I'll do better. >> Hey, Mr. We're involving sixth grade and Travis here. So >> we'll keep it more informed. >> It's tough. Anything else supplies for me? >> All

034right. Thank you. >> Awesome. Thanks. >> Mr. Okay. Um, financial reports. >> Um, just all the regular stuff in there. Happy to take questions. And wasn't anything super super unique this month, but any questions, comments about financial reports? >> All right. Moving on to consent agenda. >> I move to approve the consent agenda. >> Second. It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Craig to approve the consent agenda. Any public comment board discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed. Six. Six to zero. Okay, action items. So, we're moving on to personnel, right? Uh, so we have two nepotism hires. Um, we're going to shift those down to the end um of personnel. Um, Kelly isn't here tonight, so we'll be calling him. And then Karen will

035be joining us. So, um I'm hoping she's here by the time we get to those. So, uh we'll just start with >> uh personnel. >> Okay. We have two um resignations is all on our personal action report. So, the recommendation is to accept the resignations of Lisa Sharp and Michael. >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second it. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kathy to approve the personnel action report. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All opposed. >> Motion pass six to zero. >> All right. And then all of our individual teachers, uh the process is to um have them as single agenda items. Um if the teachers up for tenure, uh you'll see that I'll make a mention of it. Um and

036what we're working from is the list that starts with Miss Medis. So um this is the fourth would be the fourth and 10-year contract for Miss Medis. Uh recommendation is to reelect Brandy Medis for 2627 school year. I move we reelect Brandy Medis for the uh 2627 school year to be her fourth tenure. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Ken to hire Brandy Menace. This is her fourth 10-year contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. All opposed. Motion passed six to zero. >> Mr. Counter, this is the fourth and 10-year contract from Mr. Counter. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect John Counter for the 2627 school year. >> I'll make that motion. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Don and

037seconded by Craig to hire John Counter. This is his fourth 10-year contract. Uh any board discussion? Want to say anything? >> Uh can I please >> stand up and state your name? >> Uh board discussion. All right. All those in favor say I. I. >> All opposed. Motion passed six to zero. All right. So, we're going to skip Tammy for the time being. >> Honor Goodrich. This would be the fourth and 10-year contract for Miss Goodrich. Recommendation is the uh board of trustees re-elect Honor Goodrich for the 2627 school year. >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kathy to hire Anna Goodrich. This is his her fourth uh 10-year contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. Excuse

038me. I. >> All opposed. Motion passed six to zero. >> Ashley Nelson. This is the fourth and 10ear contract for Miss Nelson. recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Ashley Nelson to the 2627 school year. >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kathy to hire Ashley Nelson. This is her fourth tenure contract. Any public comment? Board discussion. MO. All those in favor? >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion pass six to zero. See, I tried to skip ahead. I'm trying to save time. >> I know you're doing good. >> Alecana. This would be the third contract for Mr. Irana. Recommendation is the board of trustees reele 26 27 school year. >> So, I'll put that on yet. Let me have I know, right? I

039got >> to be quick. Quick make a man to move this one along. >> I get the second one. >> You get the next one. >> Okay, I'll do the next. >> Um, it's been moved by Ken and seconded by Jenny uh to hire Alec Orana. This is his third contract. Uh, any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All opposed. Are you here yet? >> Hi. >> I'll give you a minute. >> I mean, what if I do? We'll do it on the next vote >> if you want. >> Motion pass six to zero. Okay. >> Get ready. Okay. Got this. >> Victoria Ward. Uh, this would be the second contract for Miss Ward. Board of trustee recommendation is the board of trustees re-elect award for the

0402627 school year. >> I'll make that motion. >> I'll second. It's been moved by Jenny and seconded by Don to hire Victoria Ward. This is her second contract. Any public comment board discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. Natalie Cook. It's the second contract for Miss Cook. >> You skip Lenora. >> Lenora Shoemaker. This is the second contract from Miss Shoemaker. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Lenora Shoemaker for the 2627 school year. >> I move that we uh rehire Lenora Shoemaker for the 2627 school year. >> Second. It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Ken to hire Lenora Shoemaker. This is her second contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. All opposed. >> Motion

Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Natalie Cook for the 2627 school year. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Craig and seconded by Ken to hire Natalie Cook. This is her second contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. I. >> I. I all opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. Do you want to go all the way through >> and then go back to those two? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Uh Jane Nelson. This be the second contract for Mrs. Nelson. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Jane Nelson for the 2627 school year. >> So moved. >> I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Kathy to hire Jane Nelson. This is her

042second contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. I. >> I. >> All those opposed. >> Motion passed seven to zero. >> Sam Shepard. This will be the second contract for Mr. Shepard. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Sam Shepard for the 2627 school year. I move that we rehire Sam Shepard for the 26 27 year school year. >> I'll second that. >> It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Don to hire Sam Shepard. This is his second contract. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those in favor say I. I. >> All opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. >> Jacqueline Jessen. This would be a first contract for Miss Jessen. Recommendation is the board of trustees hire Jaclyn Jess for the 2627 school year. >> Move. I'll second. >>

043It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Jenny to hire Jacqueline Jensen. This is her first contract. Any board or any public comment board discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion pass 7 to zero. >> Lindsey Dylan. This will be the first contract for Miss Dylan. Recommendation is the board of trustees hire Lindsey Dylan for the 2627 school year. I move that we hire Lindsay Dylan for the 2627 school year. >> I'll second that. >> It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Dawn to hire Lindseay Dylan. This is her first contract. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those in favor say I. I. I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. Who's calling? Did you call? >> So, we have two nepotism hires. We're going to

044call Kelly Carrington. >> Hello. >> Hey, Kelly. You're on speaker in the boardroom. >> Can't hear you. >> Okay. >> Buddy. Okay, let's go to Tammy Gruell. >> Per district policy 1512, Montana code annotated 2-2-302, the district needs to take the following action to hire Miss Gruel. All trustees except the trustee related to the person to be employed or appointed vote to employ the related person. The trustee related to the person to be employed abstains from voting and the trustees give 15 days written notice of the time and place of the intended action. District clerk Smith posted the notice in the February 26 edition of Carbon County News. This would be the fourth and 10-year contract for Mrs. Grell. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Cammy Grill the 2627 school year. >> I'll make

045that motion. >> I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Kelly and seconded by Jenny to hire Tammy Gruell. This is her fourth and tenure contract. Any public comment >> board discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. All abstaining. >> I abstain. >> Motion pass six to Z or seven to zero. 7 to zero. All right, on to Jordan Guill. >> Same process. This is the second contract for Miss Grill. Recommendation is the board of trustees reelect Jordan GR for the 2627 school year. >> I'll move. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Craig and seconded by Ken to hire Jordan Gruell. Um, this is her second contract. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. >> All abstaining. >> I abstain.

046>> Motion passed seven to zero. All right. on to tenure certified staff. Thank you, Kelly. >> The district list of tenur certified staff is attached for review. Uh recommendation is the board of trustees approved the attached tenure certified staff personnel action report. >> I'll make that motion. >> Second. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Ken to approve the list of tenur certified staff. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. All right. Moving on to our academic calendar. >> 2627 academic calendar is included for uh consideration uh into the um supplemental documents. Obviously I have a copy of the calendar. Um you can click on that for for your review. Um it is a little bit different. We tried to

047kind of keep the the core elements of our academic calendar together. Um there's a lot of popularity with it. Um, however, with uh Memorial Day pushing back a week in May, just the way that everything fell, it did allow for just a little bit more flexibility um in uh taking a few more days off throughout the year. Um so that's included. Uh I also included um just a minuteby minute uh or actually hourby- hour breakdown in there um to show that we're we're meeting the threshold of 1,080 hours which is the requirement that um the state sets forth for full funding. Um we're actually up to 1,091.09 hours uh per per that calculation. Um I also included the agenda in um which the committee got together. Um so um thanks to Dawn and Ken for

048for being a part of that process. U Miss Nandez, Mr. Richard uh were also on that. Miss Gruel um representing teaching staff in the middle school. Miss Goodwin uh parent and elementary teacher. Uh we had Sam representing our bus driver. um Stacy Lotomire representing the substitutes uh as well as serving in her parent role um and Miss Kerver uh were were on that committee and everybody kind of has a lot of unique interests uh that that go into that process uh whether it's from the board you know the bus barn or whatever it might be but we got together we sent out a a feedback form to the to the entire staff about a month before we got together as a committee allowed people to kind of weigh in on um what their thoughts were

049from the calendar. Again, largely positive with how we're doing things. So, we spent some time reviewing that. Um, then we just started talking about options and things that that we want to see. Um, kind of had some breakouts into groups of two, groups of three. Um, Miss Meyers also did a lot of heavy lifting. She just made three kind of like random options uh based upon last year and the year before that. So we had three options to kind of look at um and then ultimately took the feedback and kind of coalesed around um the the calendar that that we have right now. Um and so this is the leading contender. Um but at the end of the day, the trustees have the the final say. So um happy to take questions um thoughts on

050that. But the recommendation is to approve uh the mini spring 2 calendar option for the 26 27 school year. >> So I move to approve the U mini spring two calendar. >> I don't know why I got called that, but uh that's >> it's cute. >> What we landed on. I'll second that. >> It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Dawn to approve the 2627 academic calendar. Any public comment or discussion? I've already said I don't like that we go a week longer. It is what it is. It'll still be snowing so be okay. >> We did had a week. Now >> I know but it looks like it. >> I don't care what it looks >> feels like it. That's how I feel. >> It's all because >> some things you're not going

051to Some things you don't get your way, Amanda. Most things you do. >> I I let it go. >> Accept it. Yeah. Thank >> we can talk. >> You're learning. You're learning. >> Yeah. >> I know which battles to fight. >> Yeah. >> All right. Um, any other comments? >> No. >> All right. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. >> Policy. First reading. Uh, we have one first reading to consider. Policy committee met on March 10th to review policy 512. Um the only major change is to transfer the uh title n coordinator position from the elementary principal to the assistant business manager. Um additionally in reviewing 5012 we looked at a form and then there was also a process. Um but 512F is being

052recommended to update to model policy. So recommendation is the board uh approved the first reading of 512 and 512F. >> I'll make that motion. I'll second it. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kathy to approve the updated policy 5012 and 5012F. Any public comment for discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. The next two items are related to uh the district's intent to increase permissive levies um in the elementary as well as the high school district. Uh state law requires school district to provide notice of the public of its intent to increase or decrease permissive which are non-voted levies in the ensuing fiscal year. Uh draft resolution of the intent is included in the packet. The notice provides estimates of expected

053increases and/or decreases and the impact of those on taxpayers. Uh these notices are required to be published by March 31st. These are estimates only and file numbers will not be available until the fiscal year 26 books are closed and we receive tax valuation numbers from the state in August. Um myself uh Felicia are happy to um answer any questions um that that may come out of this. Um this is also not setting the budget um in any way that happens ultimately at that formal budget adoption in August. Um this was action that's required out of a we think a 2017 >> um Senate bill that um wanted um increased notice of these um intent to change uh permissive levies. So, uh, Felicia, myself, um, board chair thinsale got together, um, and made some initial projections,

054and that's what you're looking at. Recommendation is to approve the resolution of intent to increase elementary permissive levies. >> So, move second. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Craig. uh to approve the intent to increase permissive levies in the elementary district. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. >> Motion pass seven to zero. Same story in the high school recommendation is the board of board of trustees approved the resolution of intent to increase high school permissive levels. >> They should call it intent to change. >> I was going to say um there's probably >> increase or >> even though we're decreasing them in >> change that being okay >> or would it just be a negative increase? >> Well, I think that's how

055it's supposed to be read, right? It states it it has the in law says it has to be it has to be labeled that. >> It just seems funny though. >> I I think the impetus behind is they just wanted more transparency of if an estimated increase. Um so last year we did have increases in our tuition because of all the out of district payments we had to make. Um the and the reason we include decreases on this is because if you don't include um a decrease, you can't make any changes to that permissive levy at all. So all of the permissive funds are on here, whether it's an increase or decrease or several of them have zero change, but they're listed in case, again, their estimates in case something happens where we need to

056to either increase or decrease. All right, I'll take a motion. >> I'll make that motion. >> I've already done it. >> You did what? >> I need a second. >> Second. >> I'm going to give it to Karen. >> Good. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Karen uh to approve the intent to increase permissive levies in the high school district. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those in favor say I. >> I. All opposed. Motion passed seven to zero. How's my time? >> I see. >> You got eight minutes. >> Old business. I don't think we have any old business because we don't have any second readings. Um, you want me to move intoformational discussion? >> Let's do it. >> All right. Uh, first matter is trustee election update. Uh, Felicia has

057included the uh the notice of the trustee election cancellization. Uh, whereas the number of candidates filing for intent and oath of candidacy for the open trustee position is equal to or less than uh the number of open positions. So um congratulations are uh in order to uh Ka uh for um winning the election by acclamation and to Mr. Duel uh also for winning the election um >> won anything >> and you joined the growing number of our board members who have uh well you've received votes but uh there are a number of us now that have never received a vote um on the board. So >> that's scary. We had to go to center and >> work for it. >> We got interrogated. >> Anyone? >> So, um that is uh the notice of the

058election cancellization and we're not running a levy. We're not running a bond. Um so, when it comes to election finalization, what's the relationship? >> Um so, it has to run through the full election cycle. So, at the regular May board meeting, we will the last item of business in the regular board agenda will be to canvas the votes, which there are none, um, and certify the election, and then we'll close that meeting, swear in our two new trustees. Second meeting is to um, organize the board, do the chair, vice chair, appoint the clerk, do the committees, all that fun stuff. So you're still on the hook for a couple minutes. >> More mayhem. >> Yeah. From new helies. >> Committee bidd committee minutes from the prior month are included. um hiring committee uh is getting

059together to address the um immediate need of um our additional kindergarten classroom teacher uh as well as um filling the the gap in a fourth and fifth grade resignation. Um so we're moving in that direction. Um probably going to be um needing to maybe consider additional hiring as the as the spring uh progresses. Uh I think a big piece of this will be the scheduling meeting. Did I go on order? No. Okay. Um >> the uh scheduling meeting that's that's coming up that we'll have to contend with. Um uh the the resignation um uh from Spanish that was filling um some elective needs in our our middle school that we may have a gap uh there that um results um in you know just making sure that we play with the schedule. Um and then

060it does seem like we always get more resignations kind of just as the spring progresses. So, we're hoping that's not the case, but always just be prepared um for what might be coming um in in that world. Uh the budget committee uh was I wasn't there um uh last month, but budget committee got together, those minutes are included. Um policy committee also in uh February. Uh and then the negotiations committee um got together to talk about superintendent contract deals. Um the what we're starting to see probably in the committee work and I talked about that talked about this this morning at coffee. Um we're starting to kind of even though it's fourth quarter we still got a lot of work to do. Um we're starting to probably take a look at next year. So for

061example in policy we started looking at the 26 27 classified handbook already uh and merging that with um MTSBA model work uh that's being done. Um I'm I'm going to ask the facilities committee, the building and grounds committee to get together. Okay, let's review all the um uh grounds expenditures, the grounds projects, and then um weigh in on some some summer workflow and what does that look like for big projects over the summer. Uh so that work um is starting to kind of look more more towards next year. Um at this time of the year, monthly enrollment numbers are included for everybody's review. Um, employment updates. Uh, just kind of hit on that. Uh, that's linked to the website. Anything that's out there. Uh, district clerk Smith has included the district audit um in there.

062I can't see it though. Does yours have that little >> mine comes up? >> It says that Fusha is editing in. >> Oh, there we go. >> I edited the title. >> Okay. Um, so the U audit findings are included. Um, and we know that there's been, you know, some some community questions about this. So, happy to take any questions from the the trustees that you might have um on this. Um, Miss Smith and I did a little bit of research too into it. I actually had a call with our auditors just to, you know, get a little bit more clarification on some of the findings um and and why we get those. Um, and happy to take questions, but we can provide a little bit of background um into them. First, the the segregation

063of duties um finding that we have uh as far as we can tell um this has been this has been a finding in the district at least going back to 2000 >> at least. >> Um so on every audit for the last 25 years, we've had a segregation of duties um uh finding in which the the district because of its size lacks um you know full separation of all the duties in in the business office. Um, and we also know that of the I believe 57 audits that our auditing firm does, every single one of those, every single one of those schools, every single one of the counties, and every single one of the cities, they also put that finding um on onto all of their audits. And um auditors were very clear that this

064is not um a a finding of fraud uh in any way, but this is just to communicate from a level from the auditors to the board that there is some risk in having a limited business office. But they also understand uh that the resources of the district um are also constrained and you can't have, you know, a full payroll department. You can't have a full um you know, health benefits division. you can't, you know, have all of those different positions to have full separation of duties. The district has taken what I believe are pretty good actions in the winter of 24 and 25 with onboarding Julie Patterson into that assistant business uh manager role. Um they they commended us. However, it did not elevate to the level of removing that finding. um they one of

065the counties that they audit has 125 people um in in that um division and they still get that finding um on on their audit. Um so again, it's just an acknowledgement to the trustees to do things and they also commended the the trustees on a budget committee which is something that we got in look at every single claim every single month and that's doing the work uh that's brought on by that segregation of duties um finding. So anything to add on just segregation of duties? know. Um I've got a there's a clerk who's been doing this for 30 years and he's gotten that audit finding for every year even when he worked in Laurel. >> So it's it's typical with our auditors. Not all auditors do it, but ours on the side of caution informing

066the board there's a there's an amount of risk here, which there's risk even >> when you have a lot of people in the business office. So >> but think of the money we saved. not hiring 14 more business officers >> and and not hiring CPA >> and still getting the same finding >> and the same finding in >> I feel very confident in what you do in the business office and the way that our finances in this school are run and and I think it's important to know that even though I am on the board I'm not on the budget committee I learn a lot all the time every time we talk about budgets and anybody that is not part of this inner group that really looks at it can find the information but there's

067a lot of erroneous information that can also you can always look at it and say oh I don't think this looks good but without going direct to where it is and looking at the audit and with the with the background and and the history that we have with really good auditors I don't have any problem with what's being done I feel very comfortable with it >> the uh um financial the auditor prepared financial statements. So, um, when they're here, they also do that work of preparing, uh, the financial statement. Um, and the, uh, statement that I got from, uh, our auditors was it's very common practice in Montana, uh, for the auditors to prepare those financial statements, uh, to to hire again to hire a person to do that work. Um, is it doesn't make

068a lot of financial sense for um, places in Montana. Um, as far as the conversation I went, um, every school, every county, and every city does this exactly the same way, and they all do also provide that finding, um, on on those statements as well. So again, I think it's just good to talk about it. Um, these are these are the issues that are um, happening um, within our audit finding. And then um, our our last finding on payroll compliance. Um this is um a result of um you know action that um I took um in order to u make sure that we had the coaches uh at an adequate level that we felt prepared to you know have a positive impact for kids. Um so we had two incidents uh last year in which

069um the department of labor and industry um um does not allow our classified staff uh to work in a coaching role and earn a stipend. Um even though those classified staff are okay with the stipened amount. um the classified staff uh did not want to um be you know in causing any sort of overtime complications um or or anything like that from a payroll standpoint. So uh we had talked to some other schools to see what they were doing uh to you know meet the needs of both the kids but then also um you know hire hire good people that were you know willing to do the work. Um and we had heard that you know some of those were um happening with with gift cards. um our auditors identify it and said that is

070not best practice. So that is something that we will discontinue. Um and you know um I was um uh wrong on that one. Uh and we did go back through and we ran those through the payroll system and so that should be cleaned up and it's not a practice that will continue moving forward. So we'll probably um you know if we keep wanting to add six grade straight on to everything Ken uh we might have to say hire a real but we don't have enough people to do this and so then we'll start to limit our numbers and do it in that way. Um we have some new there's some new and emerging reading of the law that that is saying that paras may or may not be in that role because their primary job

071is instruction. Um, however, we're going to heir on the side of just not putting paras into that that role either until until the law changes. Um, so we'll do that one differently. Um, and again, we appreciate the auditors for finding that. Um, that has been put to the, uh, Montana Department of uh, Department of Administration, uh, the audit division, and they approved our corrective action on that. Well, what what you said is they are looking at the law, which you know, I think we probably have a lot of pairs that would be very good coaches that would really like to and we can't say I don't care how good you are. We can't do that. >> I feel bad for that. >> We are following the law and we're doing what's right, but I hope

072that they make some adjustments in that so that we can hire a PAR in the future with a coaching stipen separate from their parah salary or their their paid. >> Yeah. So MTSBA has an opinion on it and then legal has a separate opinion on it. >> So until those two >> till they get it figured out >> attorneys two different opinions which happens. >> Yeah. MSBA says that you're you can hire Paris to do that work. Um >> no she said you can make the argument whether you win or not different >> because it's coming from a lawyer. Yes. So it's very >> it depends is the norm. >> That's how I always it depends. Um but we're very appreciative of the work that they do. um and um we'll take their guidance. Uh

073we included um the district's 2025 uh Montana advanced opportunities. >> I'm just going to go back for a second. I just wanted to just make sure that there's no other like conversation about the audit or any concern about the audits. Um public is definitely welcome to make comments if anybody has a comment or a question. If you ever have questions, just call me. That's truly it's comp governmental accounting is complicated and if you have questions just call that's the best way to handle that. >> I think every time that I've been around when a question comes up you do a very good job of explaining it to the point where it's like now I understand. So it's >> we hope so. >> I think sometimes it's easy to say well this is going this way

074this is going this just ask you explain it it's done. So misinformation is very harmful >> and Felicia are does a great job of breaking it down >> for me to understand. >> Sometimes too much information >> and that's quite a weight. >> But yet it's me too. >> She she does a great job of if she sees your eyes blazing over she'll stop and go okay now now wait. and she makes it so that you do understand and not in a belittling way which is very very appreciative. >> So I just want to clarify I want a clarification on that last sentence. Make sure I understand it. In light of this finding the district will now need to take the position that if there are no certified employees or community members willing to coach

075programs for students will be cut. Correct. >> And that is as it stands. Okay. >> Anything else? Okay. I just wanted to pause there. >> Yeah. Thanks, Amanda. >> We can move on. >> Okay. the um the district's uh um renewal of the Montana Advanced Opportunities Grant Letter uh is included from the um Crystal Smith and she's the the person up at OPI that administers that um >> based upon our um report that we submitted for continued funding of the Montana Advanced Opportunities Grant. I know there's also been some, you know, some chatter about that. Um, but, uh, we believe that the the spending has had a real positive impact on kids. Uh, we believe it's had a real impact positively on on growing, um, some of our programs. Uh probably um the one that

076you know could be highlighted the most would be our our CNA um students who are you know already making 30 bucks an hour um here while doing work studies um and pathways and programs that have you know been rooted here with instruction you know driven by Miss Stratton on-site and real world experience in in the on-site daycare first aid experiences um all of that has has really been kind of driven uh through through that just this idea of the Montana Advanced Opportunities Grant. Uh we're, you know, very well and very aware and trying to do better um with processes that, you know, ensure that we're spending 75% of that on out of out of pocket student expenses um and leaving the 25% um for other areas. But we've been approved for funding for our third

077>> our third cycle of the Montana Advanced Opportunities Grant. So again, just kind of pause if there's any questions or comments public board. So this is um we do have to report annually um submit a report annually. They have to accept that report and then as you said this is our third renewal. So, >> and weren't you saying isn't this the one that they require information from January to December yet that is different than how we >> Yeah. >> as a >> and they've changed how the reporting is on that. Um, so unfortunately they want financial information from January to December. Unfortunately, that crosses two of our fiscal years. So potentially it could look like a grant is over spent because it's including money from the fiscal year that goes from July to June and

078the fiscal year that goes from July to June. Um so it the reporting that they asked for is very confusing from a budgeting standpoint for a school district. Um the best way to look at our spending for our advanced opportunity grant is to look at our trustes financial summary which is our um audited and vetted financial summary for the district that comes out after our books close in June that has any adjusting journal entries anything where we've you know said oh well this this fits better under this category whether it's transformational learning advanced opportunity whether there's a different grant that it goes to. All of those adjustments happen in the end of the fiscal year, which is right smack in between when OPI wanted that report done. So, it's very it's not apples to apples,

079I think, is the best way to put that. >> But that seems like it's it's something that could easily be mis excuse me, misunderstood when they don't understand what you just said. >> Yes. >> Just you look at it and go, "What?" >> Yeah. this doesn't make sense for a you know January December because that's not what it is >> which you said correct you correct me if I'm wrong so if you or clerk or the board decides to put it in this group but then the auditors come and they say no that doesn't fit in that group it needs to go over to this group that will not show up until It'll show it'll show up on the TFS, but it will not show up anywhere else because it's an adjusting entry. So, if

080you if you pull um like I'll take Heather Stratton as an example. She's the the the one that fits within that program. All of her salary is built to this grant and then at the end of the year we back out what is not allowed in that grant. And the reason we do that is so when we have conversations at a board level, how much does our CNA program cost, we know exactly what that cost is. It's not hard to determine that cost. Um, but at the end of the year, a lot of that salary gets booked into the general fund instead of the advanced opportunity. Just so that from a bookkeeping standpoint, we know exactly how much that program costs. And again, end of year journal entries are so common that they're any business

081does them at the end of the of their fiscal year. Um, when it comes tax season, all those kinds of things. So, it's just a normal practice. And again, if you have a question, just call >> or budget meetings are open. But open >> budget meetings are open. The TFS when we talk about the TFS, um, that's also a good meeting to come to. Well, I appreciate you you clarifying that because sometimes you are on here long enough that you forget those little things that how it does get put back around and moved around. And so, thank you for >> Yeah, our budget year is a is a 12 is 12 months. It's not this month is set in stone, this month is set in stone. It's the whole 12-month picture when we get to

082the end of the year. I think that if we had any intent of trying to do anything wrong with our finances, we would be caught very very quickly by the auditors and >> caught by the end of July. >> Yeah. So, I mean, it's it's not like, well, it's easy to do. We'll slip this here or there and we're going to get away with it. Doesn't happen. >> No. >> Plus, I wouldn't know how to do it and I would be too scared. >> Thank you for that. >> She says no a lot. Sorry. >> Well, and I really appreciate the work of the budget committee, too. um beating monthly and going through everything. So, I think that really helps and it kind of goes back to those audit findings. You know, this is something

083that we're doing to help um you know, be transparent and um avoid the potential for fraud. So, thank you to everybody that has put their time in on the budget committee. >> All right. Anything else? All right. Moving on. >> Milligan survey. So the district's comprehensive needs survey uh will be conducted again by Adam Milligan. Uh we'll be sending out the plan is to send out the survey to all stakeholders. We have a general um a parent one that goes out. We have students and then we have teachers and included in teachers is kind of like a subservey with our classified staff uh as well. Uh so all stake all stakeholders have an opportunity uh to complete the survey um and give us some feedback. Um, our plan is to send that out on April

0847th. Uh, so we're going to start sharing that out already in your conversations. That's a that's a hard date that I've worked with Mr. Milligan on and he will have those open. I will have the links um and I will share those out um with everybody as well. We're going to close the survey on April 20th. Um, the board then uh needs to appoint the committee to review the data and I do think it would be a good thing. I don't think we have to do it today because we'll have time at the April uh meeting, but I do think that this would be sometimes there's, you know, committees where the administration can put those together. I do think this is a good one for the board uh to just bring some names uh that

085you can be prepared to uh and I think this is actually a twofold process. One would be to kind of review the the data that comes in, look at some of the trend lines that we're seeing now that we'll have our I think our third year of uh of data. And then at the same time, my recommendation would also be to kind of tackle and review the strategic plan to make sure that it's aligned with the continued direction because it's been five years uh now since we've, you know, had and I know that we look at it and we've had a number of reviews, but other than just in the board room, I think they have like some committee work based upon some good feedback. I think those would be the two tasks and I'm

086happy to put together agendas and I can drive that process. Uh but I do think the board should be prepared in April uh to bring some names Okay. Volunteer your neighbors and friends for that. And I think we should just put a target up by the end of the school year uh to get that done. Todd family scholarship. I'm going to hand it over to Trusty Dinsdale. She knows all about it. Um so last year, so I wasn't on the committee last year. I did this two years. Last year, I think it was Karen, Kathy, and Kelly. Um, we did set some parameters um based on previous years, and I can email that out to whoever um volunteers to be part of that committee. Um, as well as the um the Todd family scholarship document.

087I'll email that out. Um, so today, what we're looking for is um volunteers for the committee. I believe um since I've been on the board, we've had three people part of that committee. So um I kind of volunteered you last month. >> You did. Yeah. I was like remember being volunteered for scholarships or something. But no >> I think you would enjoy it. When I was when I did it, it was it was nice. It was really nice to read those um essays and whatnot. So it was kind of fun. >> I would be happy to. >> I'll be the first one. >> Do you want to do it again, Ken? >> Sure. I'll do it again. I think Kelly enjoyed it, but it >> should we volunteer. Kelly if he doesn't want to then

088I will do it. >> I think he did too. >> I just make this up as I go. >> I think that's a com that's a a great um committee for everybody to take a turn on on the board. It's um so part of what you guys will have to do first off is to um select a topic uh for the essay. I don't remember what it was last year, but I'll email you guys. >> Was that I think it was whatever you used the previous year. >> Oh, okay. Because we did um tell us about a contribution you've made to your community and then uh we did what are your academic or professional goals. So those were two previous and then uh we have the review criteria. So readability of the application, attention to

089detail, um excellence, participation in school events, and accelerated education. Um so that was just some stuff to help with the ranking of the applications, but I'll email that out to the three of you. So thank you. >> Now, if someone else would want to be on that committee, I mean, I don't want to hog it. I love it. I don't want to hog all of the fun stuff. >> Well, and you don't have a relative that's a senior this year. >> No, I certainly don't. >> So, yeah, we'll go with that. Perfect. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. Board clerk evaluation tool. >> Um, board clerk evaluation tool um has been built into these platform. Uh so it'll be conducted in the same way um that everybody did the superintendent evaluation. Um the

090plan is to open the evaluation on April 1st and then we'll close it on the 17th. Uh and then the evaluation um of the clerk will take place in executive session after the regular meeting in April on April 21st. Um anything to add there about how to find it? >> Um no. So, it's under evaluation. So, you'll remember from the superintendent evaluation. So, it'll be under evaluation. Um, you'll be able to see that on April 1st and then we'll have roughly two weeks uh to complete that. It'll close on April 17th. Um, I can see who right I should it should be the same, right? >> Yeah. You and I. >> So, um I'll be able to see who's completed it or whatnot. So, um, you know, if you have any questions about accessing it

091or you have any, you know, issues or whatnot, just please let me know. Um, but I'll I'll be reaching out to you if you haven't completed it yet. Um, >> do we get a notice to remind us to start? >> Does one come out from I don't know like launch it. >> Yeah. I thought when it gets launched, I think we all get an email >> when it's launched. Yeah. Okay. >> Um, it's our second time using it, so be gentle with us. But again, um, everybody's ratings and comments, they'll all be collated into one report um that will can't identify who's made what comments or whatever. And then that's what we'll go through in our April meeting um with her um evaluation. >> Yeah, we had a few little quirks with the superintendent one.

092So, if anything like that comes up, just let me know. So, sorry. Go ahead. >> No, I'm sorry. And the last thing I just wanted to highlight um was uh Miss Kerper's work. Uh you might have been hearing about this, but um she's doing doing some good work to um get all of our subs um an additional level of training uh that we haven't um been able to provide before. So I just included a quick copy of her agenda. Um I think she's done three um trainings now. I know at least two um and then maybe the third one's kind of in in the works. One of them was planned during the day and one of them was planned in the evening. Um, and she's getting some good feedback uh from uh from the subs.

093Um, like you can see from the agenda, works through everything from access to the daycare, drop off. Um, she's also put together a couple of um nice substitute teacher binders that include kind of all the emergency information um that's uh available to them. Some kind of canned lessons that there wasn't anything if it was an true emergency situation and they just wasn't there. uh there's, you know, uh some adequate stuff to kind of just get you up and rolling. Um and then I had her just give me a little bit of feedback um uh from from see things that she's hearing. Um subs um weren't they were a little bit um on the fence about how firm and strong they should be with telling kids not to use their phones. Uh so she was sure

094to tell them that uh it's it's a no phone zone um everywhere. Um it's just some inconsistency uh with you know materials that are left from from the teachers um what kind of access they have to the key fobs um all the way to just uncertainty about what time they can leave at the end of the day. Do they get to leave at 3:30 or is it 3:45? Just all little things that I think when you're in the system you just take everything for granted um on that front. But just having clear answers and clear communication has has been real powerful. And I know that a lot of our even like seasoned veteran subs have attended that and Paul kind of took something away whether it was the building tour um or or some piece

095of it. So hats off to her in that work. The um expectation is that the subs get three hours of training. So she's doing two hours in on-site thing and then there's an hour worth of homework um on the back end. So I think that's been a really good um and new process for us. Other than that, that's all I got. Yeah, I'll just say hats off to Selena on that work. I think that's really great. >> Yeah, I um that has been brought up for a long time. So, I appreciate that she has taken the initiative for her classes to do that. Um I've had several subs in the past say, "Well, we don't know what to do." >> Yeah. >> You know. >> Yeah. So now is she just doing with this with

096just the new subs that are coming in or >> Oh no, all subs. >> All subs are going to go through. >> I actually think I actually think the require I think that the expectation uh is three hours of training and >> which is I think that's really very good to get. >> I don't know if there's very many schools that do that. >> There's not. And I reached out to a number of schools. Hey, can I see your professional development? And it's it's so we're working on that. Where you at? We're getting something going. We'd like to see yours when you get it done. >> Yeah, we got it now. We got it. So, it's been >> Can we charge for that? >> I think she should put it on teachers pay teachers. She

097probably may be killing us for other schools. >> You know, Don's going to be available to sub here shortly. So, we'll get her in the training. >> Maybe I should drive bus. >> Drive bus coach. >> You get me? >> You can do books again. Yeah, I can take take some pressure off of some people. >> All right, so there's no correspondence in here. Um suggestions for topics for our next board meeting. So we have the clerk evaluation. Uh we will be setting that committee um to review the Milligan survey and the strategic plan. >> We hire classified staff. >> Hire classified staff. TVD >> TVD. >> Oh, summer school. Yeah, we can consider Yeah, we need to do summer school. Consider that. >> Okay, our next um board meeting is Tuesday, April 21st at

0986:30. If there's nothing else, we can adjourn. >> Thank you everyone. building. >> No, I >> kind of was like, I don't know, next week. It's like be more specific. >> Fall asleep. >> Be specific. >> Good. I was worried. Okay. So it's the
