All right, we'll move on to the consent agenda. Um, I will entertain a motion to approve of the consent agenda. >> I move to approve the consent agenda. >> All second. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Kelly to approve the consent agenda. Any public comment? >> Board discussion. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. All opposed. Motion passed eight and zero. Um, new business. Well, personnel. So, first up, we have the personnel action reports. And it looks like we have two two people on the personnel action report. So we have an aid and then a stipen for an assistant cheer. >> Are they quite a few cheerleaders? Is that the reason that that that's added or what was the purpose for that? >> No, I I don't think numbers wise.

I think it was kind of a conversation all year about there is an assistant cheer like in the matrix a you know like that's an option. >> It's not necessarily when you look at the guidelines in the handbook of numbers. >> Um but there was I don't can I speak clearly the name is that a >> it's in the agenda. So Marcia had been helping. So it's very prrated. It would be about four weeks of time. Um >> I think you know they say that cheerleading is more kids get hurt in cheerleading than they do any other sports. So I think it's okay to have good supervision. >> Yeah. We just have one way down a series >> from during practice. >> Yeah. But yeah, so it would be um I just kind of roughly

calculated about it would be about 260 dots. Well, I think the more supervision and safety we can provide that just the reason. >> Yeah. >> Why it wasn't right away and it wasn't >> Yeah. >> I move to >> Well, >> okay. Yeah. >> I move to approve. >> I'm sure second It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Jenny to approve the personnel action report. Any public comment? Any further board discussion? Is she going to be there every day now from now on then? >> They don't practice every day. Any other? Okay. All those in favor say I. >> All opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. Uh next up we have superintendent contract. So we have the contract in our packet there. Um so I believe the compensation package is in there too and

the recommendation is for a 3 and a half% increase. I move to approve the superend. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Don to approve the superintendent contract. Any board discussion? >> I say public comment. No, I see board. Sorry. >> Any public comment? >> Board discussion. >> All right. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. >> Motion passed 8 to zero. And so administrative contracts. So administrative contracts pretty much mirror the superintendent contract with that three and a half%. >> I move to approve the administrative contract. Second. >> It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Kelly to approve the administrative contracts. Any public comments or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. All right, moving

right along. Jelli Little Leagueou. So, I believe we have some guests here to talk to us about the Jolietou. >> Mostly answer questions. >> Okay. >> But I can I can talk a little bit to it if you'd like. >> Is it is it similar? Is there any changes from last year? >> So, the only changes from last year are um um Jesse Hogat was removed and Jasper Dwell is now the other point of contact for us. um kind of take it over >> and the information is all >> Yep. And then and then the the very last page with the master plan improvements. We try to keep that up to date updating the years. I don't think we did anything major in the last year. Um the gravel in the parking lot. The school

actually completed that and we had that in our kind of our it's more of a wish list down the down the road because that's a pretty big would have been a huge expense for our little >> Did we send you a bill for your sharing? >> Uh no. And if you do, it probably won't be paid. >> Um, so and I think kind of the only thing that I would that that's kind of ongoing now as far as with the little league is um this year we will probably be for our softball. Our numbers weren't quite enough. So we might be co-oping with Red Lodge little league. And it's also kind of in the uh process in the next year or two that we've been under Laurel Little League for many years that Red Lodge

has asked for all of Carbon County to be under their bear tooth to coincide with Carbon County baseball which I've had kind of conveyed to me through Mr. Beggar that that's eventually Joliet's goal. I think we're with Columbus this year, right? which is awesome so that those kids have that opportunity. But our understanding is the long-term goal is to be with the Carbon County baseball. So the little league is trying to conform to match that. So the Bridger, um Jolliet kind of those three sub leagues there will all be under Red Lodge and that probably going to be next year. So that would that's kind of a and then so hopefully like with the softball stuff co-oping with them this year for that will be a nice step forward to getting all of Carbon County

baseball together and softball maybe. I don't know what I don't know what the plans are with softball. I know softball is with Laurel now. Um, I haven't really heard of Red Lodge having an interest in having high school softball, but guess we'll kind of if you build that together, I would see that it could you'd finally have enough girls. Whereas our softball's always been just barely getting enough girls together to form a team. Whereas, if we get a few from each of the schools, it might be more successful. We'll see. So >> how's that gonna affect the money side of things moving from such a big world to little league? So yeah, so like when we operate our monies are completely separate from from Laurels and then so what we end up paying is um

so like for the insurance and like all the charter stuff through the little league and all that stuff we end up paying uh Laurel I think it runs right around $20 a kid on the registration and then all of our insurance and all that stuff is covered by them. Um, so when we go to Red Lodge, I don't know exactly how. Hopefully it will be a similar thing, but they may coordinate and we might all combine. I I I honestly don't know how that that discussion hasn't happened yet. So, but we we have been completely stand alone as far as far as financials. So, and we charge like a third of what everybody else does partially because the school allows us to use the facilities for free and that's not $1,000 extra that like that's

what a lot of the >> sure >> what like the city charges Laurel to use the fields and the school charges I think like $600. I should know exactly, but >> we could change. >> They they they charge. Then we just have to increase fees on the kids or do additional fundraising, which we have just pretty much been doing a small raffle every other year. I think I think we appreciate having you there because you take good care of the field. >> We try the field, but you guys use it and you take good care of it. And I think that's that's a benefit to us as a school and to you. And so I think it goes both way. One question I had on here with the maintenance. Do you have any issues with

the water? Is there a separate well there you have to use hand lines? How do you water that down there? >> The lower field's not watered at all. >> So it's just the upper field. >> It's just the upper field. >> Okay. We used to have a lot of hand lines. >> They're they're all still down there. And >> you could water the lower and I didn't know if the lower one was ever watered, but that's more work. If I had the time, I would I'd hope to always put more time into that, but I just haven't had. >> Okay. I would I would think it was lower. So, the upper so it's fairly easy to water. It's just >> the upper field the school is watering. The lower field real essentially nobody is watering

it. >> Okay. >> And it it m it usually works out okay because the season's done by June, middle of June, and that's really when it usually starts drying up. So, we've been pretty fortunate. >> I was just wondering about the lower field if it even gets water. It does not. >> How's the goat head? >> What's that? >> The goat head worked really hard on the goat. >> Yeah. So this year I pulled zero goat heads down at the field. >> I didn't really get any reports anybody getting them on balls or anything. So and I think >> so so in July and August I always come around the whole school and I think this year I only had probably about 10 plants and they were in the like the playground area because I

got to go get those and the parking lot's all gravel now. So there weren't wasn't anything there. So I was probably down to about 10 plants on the whole facility. It was really bad. It was it was to the point where you couldn't especially with the T-ball kids. >> They would pick the ball up >> like that go and you couldn't you didn't really weren't even learning how to play ball to play to play because it's not how you pick up. So, >> so, so I I don't want to say that the war's won on them, but we're we're winning the battle for sure. >> It'll never last for years. >> It It will and it will take one year of not being on top of it, and it will be right back. >> Thank

you. >> So, thank you. >> We need to vote to approve that. >> Yeah. So, I will entertain a motion to approve theou with the jolly little >> I'll make that motion. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Craig to approve theou with the Jolliad Little League. Any public comment. >> Any further board discussion? >> Yes. Thanks for your time for doing that. >> Thank you. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion pass eight to zero. Yeah, it is the video is working now. >> Aaron was able to watch it remotely. >> Oh, >> it doesn't have sound. >> You should have warned me, Joey. You should have warned me. >> Okay. Uh on to old business. Uh so we have second reading of some policies. Um, the

recommendation is for the board to pass the second readings of policy 5015, uh, 2158P, 5321, 5321P, and 2335. >> So move. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved by Kathy and seconded by Kelly to approve the second readings of those policies. Any uh public comment? Board discussion. Motion. Oh. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion pass eight to zero. Clicking right along. Uh so on toformational and discussion items. So we have substitute teacher training. Um so in our packets here we have the agenda uh for that and then I think also the dates for that training. So Mrs. Corper uh is continuing her work in substitute teacher training. Uh last year she developed a handbook for substitute teachers and this year she's doing a threehour on-site training

with those substitute teachers. >> Have they signed up already? They working on >> you have quite a few that signed up. >> I think she has five. Her first one's tomorrow. I think she said she has five and then I'm not sure on the numbers for the next one. >> Is it is it going to be required for substitutes? >> Just recommending >> and maybe potent down the road it could be or it could be something like at the beginning that August time frame that you >> well know you look at the substitute list and I think we said before there's a lot of them on there that we haven't seen for a long I was looking at it today. There was check in mind, but there's three on there that said they're certified or

not. We might want to double check on that. >> Who maintains that list? Is it Marina? >> Maybe you could touch base with Marina. Uh in our packets we have committee meeting minutes from um our prior month. So there's activities, budgets, building and grounds and policy uh minutes in there. Uh we have our monthly enrollment number. So, um, we have our kinder 1 through 12 enrollment. Uh, we also have employment updates. So, there's a screenshot from our website uh for employment updates. Speech and debate judges is still on there. That should be taken on. Do you know why the Montana jobs for teachers? >> Yeah. So, we have the Montana jobs for teachers in there. Um, Mr. Baker just wanted to put that out there so we could see how many teachers um how many

districts are looking for teachers. Um, so it's um, you know, and most of those are for the 26th 27th school year. So, it's going to be a competitive hiring season. So, it was just to illustrate >> how many open positions are potentially out there, >> which is crazy because it's early and they're already out there. >> Yeah. And I think it was our last board meeting um where he had updated us that um we had positions posted and had gotten had received an application when we did not have any teachers like to take the retirement package. And as of right now, we don't know of any resignations either. >> Good. >> Stable is good. >> Uh permissive levies. I'll hand it over to >> Okay. Um so every year um according to Senate Bill 307,

the district has to publish a um notice of intent to um increase or decrease our permissive levies. Um permissive levies include the transportation fund, the bus appreciation fund, adult ed, our flex fund, and also our building reserve fund and our tuition fund. Um, we just finished our student count. Um, and those the October count and the February count together um is what OPI uses to formulate our funding for next year. So that count is done the very first of February. OPI gives us um our preliminary budget data sheets on March 1st. So after March 1st, we'll have information from OPI on what our potential budget looks like. Um and then we can start formulating those permissive levies um what we need. We have a transportation meeting coming up the first week of March um to

discuss you know if we need to purchase a new bus um which would affect um potentially transportation but definitely the um bus depreciation schedule. Um Julie will give us her best estimate on tuition. Um, we don't really know the tuition costs for resident students who go to a different district. Um, districts are not required to have those in to the OPI system until June 30th. So, it will be an estimate. We do estimate it will probably go down because we have less students at YBGR. So, that high school number will go down. um with the March 1st OPI um preliminary budget data sheets, we will know how much the state major maintenance fund is willing to contribute to our building reserve. So, we'll be able to um kind of put those numbers together. Um just

bear in mind these are all estimates um because fiscal year end does not happen until June 30th. So, we don't know there's a lot that can happen between now and then. And we also don't know taxable value until we get that information from the Department of Revenue on August 1st. So, but that notice will have to be has to be published before March 31st. Um, we live in a county where the newspaper only publishes on Thursdays. So, the 31st is like a Tuesday. It'll have to be published the Thursday before that, which means we need to approve it in our board meeting before that so I can get it to the newspaper. So, just be aware that's coming down the pipe. If you have questions about permissive levies, um, let me know. We can we'll

go over that again in budget and then in the board meeting, we'll also go through. >> All right. Any questions? >> Okay. Elections update. Um so the trustee candidate filing date has passed for the deadline to file to run or to um withdraw to run. We have currently two positions that are up for election. We currently have two candidates. Um right now we are in the writein phase of that. Um that deadline expires on March 2nd. So, if we don't have anybody else file, um that election will be called by acclamation because we only have the same number or less candidates than the open positions. So, we'll have an update on March 2nd. All right. Any questions about elections update? Okay. Correspondence. Um, there's nothing in the packet, but I did hand that thing out

to you guys. Um, so this is the membership survey for MTSBA. Guess we have time. >> We're making good time without the big guys here. Um, so it looks like starting from question five on is really the uh what MTSBA programs and services has your school district used? Oh, I guess I can answer that one or you can >> I think usually you're the one who submits the >> I know but like >> because they do ask who's submitting it. >> Yeah, but you can help me answer that one about the services. Okay. So then starting on six, please mark the circles below that best represent your opinion regarding the statements below. So there's >> I thought this was the one that you fill out individually even though it says talk about it at your

board meeting because then the other one is the one that the board that we submit >> as a board as a board. >> Yeah. I don't remember this many questions with the >> Yeah, I think this is the one >> really because the other one is the ballot. This is just the survey on they're trying to get a feel for are the services we're providing adequate? You know, how are we doing as far as that goes? Um we have lots of train I have two MTSBA trainings today. I have another one tomorrow. um lots of resources out there for our district who can get as um part of the participation. Some of those >> this survey was completed as a joint project by the or you can individually. >> So the ballot is the thing

that we do in the board meeting and you submit. >> Yeah. >> Um and then this is just for them to kind of get a feel for how they're how they're doing. >> So is it so couldn't everybody pull this out then? >> Yes. I'm assuming everybody got the email. >> And if not, you can literally >> It came in February. >> We have to fill out the online one. >> Yeah, >> it just takes you to >> seems like there's a lot of this stuff that comes into the to you and to the to the officers. >> I don't remember. >> You got everybody. >> No, I'm talking about this stuff on here. I'm looking at it and go, >> "Yeah, I don't know about this because it doesn't pertain to me." >> I

mean, I'm just saying it might be a bunch of those. >> And I don't know if that's what they want. >> Absolutely. >> And and things that you may not realize that we participate in, but we do. And if you call me and say, "What does this mean?" >> I can. >> And that's why it should come from the people that actually know it and use it. It's like, "Well, does your school do this?" I don't know. >> So, do we want to do it collectively? We can there's services in there that you can use. >> Oh, I know there's some that I can use, but I mean just >> communications are effective in assisting me in my respective position. I've never communicated with >> communication read. >> So, is it beneficial? >> I don't

know. >> So, then you pick one of those five. >> So, we're supposed to do the one online and what question. Okay. Do we want to do it collectively as a board right now >> or do you want to do >> more accurate than what I'm >> guess? >> How many of us use MTSBA services? >> Well, we all do to some degree because of our meeting platform and our policies, >> right? Which I put very satisfied with your policy platform, >> but a lot of that I don't utilize, but you guys would. >> Right. So they would have better feedback about that. >> That's what I'm getting. Yeah. >> But like their what do they send out their updates? Like they send out dailyouch. >> Well, okay. So on that first one, even if

we haven't used it, we know that they do provide it, that they do a good job of providing it. So to me, that means we should put agree or strongly agree on it even though we don't use it because they provide. >> They should put that. >> But that's what they're I know. But what they're asking is do do they want to know if we know that they provide it and we do know that they provide it because it >> if we do it as a group project I'm great. >> Okay. >> So let's do it as a group project. >> Yes, >> I would. >> Would you check that one? >> Strongly agree. >> Yes. >> On the first one. Okay. >> MTSBA's governed structure. >> Okay. >> Uh delegate assembly annual meeting board

of directors meets the needs of its member school boards. No idea. >> That's unknown. >> But even I've watched it online and it's I've never gotten anything out of it. >> Uh should I say unknown? >> All right. >> Okay. >> The MTSBA board and its member school boards respect and have confidence in one another. Well, we can say our board, but you can't say everybody else's boards if it's general. >> Well, I've utilized their chats with other school >> members. So, it was a respectful dialogue. We get information. So, >> there agree. >> Yeah. If you don't utilize it, that's not on them. They provide it. The MTSBA board and its member school boards embrace the philosophy of each child in every public school. >> Agree with that. >> Agree. >> Yes. >> MTSBA

facilitates open and candid communication among its members, allowing issues to be addressed in a constructive and timely manner. >> I agree with I would strongly agree with that. >> Yeah, >> if you go on the MTSBA website, there is a lot of >> I don't know what you call them strands, whatever the right word is. >> With like the members, >> yeah, making comments kind of what K was talking about. MTSBA's communications are effective in assisting me in my respective positions. >> I would not strongly agree because there's too much lawyer talk. >> That is true. >> Okay. Number seven. Uh mark below the circle that best reflects your opinion regarding the statement. MTSBA's board and staff provide strong leadership in support of elected schoolboard governance with the goal of developing the full potential of

each child. >> I would just say please mark the circle that best reflects your opinion regarding the statement below. Uh, in in reflecting on all of your interactions with MTSBA over the last year, are you more or less enthusiastic about your school district's membership in MTSBA than you were before the year began? So, we have more enthusiastic, less enthusiastic, or no change. I personally would say more enthusiastic just because of the meetings platform. Um I think that's a a huge improvement in our processes >> assembly and the policies policies that could go in compliment >> you could put that supplementary comments. Yeah. >> To be specific because those are very good. >> Okay. That's it. Thank you everyone. So I will submit on behalf of the board. Yeah, we can shred these. >> Oh, okay.

Here >> or if you want to keep it absolutely useful. >> I got a lot of paper. I need more paper. >> Um, okay. Suggested topics for next regular agenda. So, our next board meeting is March 17th. So we'll have um discussion about the permissive levies. >> Yeah. Any other suggestions? >> Would we have an update on the drainage problem behind the gym? Things like that if that's something people put on there that just comes from plugs. >> That would be good though. I just think it's good. >> I don't know that we have a facilities meeting plans. I know that >> Steve came down and that the community center was checking for the committee next month for the Todd family scholarship. They want to be on that. >> Yeah. So, who was on it

last year? Kathy, Kelly, and Karen. Um, Jenny, I bet you would like it. Um, yeah. >> You don't have Yeah, I'd love to do that. >> Yeah. So, I think there is the option to do um interviews if like it's a close call. Okay. >> Um, but I know when I served on that committee, um, there was always clear winner. Okay. So it's kind of fun to read the >> No, I would too then >> and I've sat on the community once before both as a teacher and as a I mean many times over the years different but I really enjoy it. So any of those um clerk evaluation start April. >> April and then the academic calendar maybe next month we started that meeting >> Last week >> and I think they're going to

put that send it out to the teachers I believe >> over feedback. to be backward to get to the point where we can bring it to the board and vote and I don't know if they're going to have not sure how many options. I mean, everybody was pretty I think we had a lot of agreement on the on the calendar we came up with. So, I don't think that there's a lot of modifications like a bunch of different calendars. I think it turned out good and we had a lot of good input from the people that were at the committee from many different angles and different ideas and they were pleased with the one this year and we made some slight modifications for next year. I think everybody there seemed to be very pleased with

it. >> Anything else tonight? >> All right. Well, thank you everybody. We can adjourn. You want to drag it out for another 10 minutes? You can >> I know. >> Was there any record or not? >> Yeah, there was that one that I missed that What?
