To the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right, welcome everybody. Sorry about the little delay in getting some technical stuff figured out here. Um, everybody in the audience, please make sure that you have signed in on the sign-in sheet. All right. Uh, public comments. Do we have any public comment tonight? You guys are all here for a specific reason. All right, seeing none, we'll move on to reports. It looks like first up we have student council. Uh, Mr. Price and his representative >> Portrains. Just want to say we did add in um so on the student council item we updated it to read high school middle high school student council and middle school.

So I think we have representative >> perfect both this month. >> Go ahead. >> Uh evening. >> So this report's going to cover the last two months because our abs >> Oh did you say who you are? Announce yourself. >> I'm Wyatt Alman student board >> co-president. Yes, it's my title. So, this report is going to cover the last two months since we've missed the last meeting. So, past events, homecoming week was a huge success. We had a lot of participation at the pep rallies and uh during the dressup days and sporting events and such. Uh we just hosted a pep rally for the sp fall sports team as they went off to their tournaments. We also concluded the quarter 1 class competition and the seniors of course won. Uh, so they we got to

leave early for lunch for a week. Um, competition will reset for quarter two. Upcoming events, student council will be helping serve lunch tomorrow for the Jolly Thanksgiving dinner. We're also going to be going to the Metro on Friday to pack food boxes for Flakes giving. Um, we're going to try to make the Christmas season a really fun one. So, we've been planning a lot of decorations and activities. Most importantly, probably the Christmas sing along. Um, we're going to be serving coffee and donuts on Saturday for the middle school basketball games. We have two high school ski and snowboard days planned for Red Lodge in January and February. And we're going to be helping with pack the gym for a rod uh in December. Ongoing events, we've been planning and working on some more student council

videos. We're going to be trying to make more, probably one every two weeks hopefully. And yeah, any questions? >> All right, thank you. >> Uh, so next up we have middle school council. >> Good evening everyone. I'm Annie Ingerham. I'm here to represent the middle school student council. At the start of this year, we had our elections and interviews to set up student council. I was elected as president as well as my vice president Rhett Katchik and my secretary Abby Dyke. Our first project was our first project as a student council was red ribbon week. We decorated the middle school hall as well as organized an assembly. At the assembly, we learned about why ribbon red ribbon week is important part of our lives and how to show our school spirit as a part of

that. We had a challenge with Red Ribbon Week bracelets and if you wore it all week, you got a prize. We also had dress up days for Red Ribbon Week going along with the theme of drug stink. Some of our dressup days, sorry, some of our dressup days were drug stink were pink. Another one was drugs are a nightmare, so wear PJs. After this week was over, we were getting very positive feedback from the rest of the middle schoolers. Um, and we just had our successful meeting about a week ago. We are planning to set up the bake sale of all homecooked goods. The student council will be running shifts during the girls and boys varsity basketball game. This event will be representing Rod in the packet and gym nights. We are also planning for

Christmas dress up days as well as festival games for the holiday season. We are going with the theme of Christmas movies this year. Our dress up days are going to be Christmas pajamas, Home Alone, the Christmas movie, The Grinch, um an allout Christmas day to deck out, and Christmas sweaters. For the festival game, we are going to do locker decorating contest also pertaining to the theme of movies. Um before all the holiday stuff starts though, the whole student council will be decorating the middle school hall on the last day of November. As you can tell, the student council doesn't like Christmas at all. Our most upcoming event will be this coming Friday. We will be going to Billings annual Thanksgiving. We get to help load boxes and package Thanksgiving goods. We will then enjoy lunch

at Chick-fil-A. Thank you so much and have a great rest of your evening. >> Any questions? >> I knew you were coming, so I came up with a question for you. >> Okay. Okay. >> You did a good job. >> Thank you. >> What was your um what did you run on for running for president? Did you make a bunch of promises? >> Um, I wanted to do some dances for the middle school. >> Um, and just some like fun like class games for like competitive reasons, but >> you all right. Um, moving on. uh elementary principal. >> All righty. Um we had our October sore assembly uh last Friday. The student awards and prizes for the reading under the lights reading log u winners were given out. Our next uh source assembly for November

will be on December 12th. We had our grade level IET meetings on November 7th. Um, for Halloween, elementary students celebrated Halloween by putting on the costume parade for the middle school and high school and parents and everyone lining the halls. And then before the parade this year, since it is a Friday, we had classroom parties go on before the parade. Um, Miss Bayis hosted an in-house PAX uh training for all of our new teachers yesterday. We have Thanksgiving lunch coming up this Thursday. And that will be running from 12 to 1:30 based off of the grade levels extending lunch so everyone can get in and eat with their uh family and not be rushed. And music programs, holiday music programs are coming up soon. Miss Kerper will be hosting the uh kindergarten through third grade

holiday music program on Tuesday, December 16th, starting at 5. And then Mr. Orana will be hosting um the holiday music program for grades 4 through 12 on Thursday, December 18th. And for testing update, only thing I have is the first mass testing window is coming up um windows coming to a close soon with the first window closing on Friday, December 5th. All right, any questions? I'm so glad that we still do the Thanksgiving dinner even though my kids are older and I no longer attend, but it was one of my I know I can't this year, but it was one of my favorites all time favorite things. So, I'm super glad that we still do that even though I know it's super hectic. Um, but it is awesome and I'm really excited for the music

programs, too. All right, thank you. on to middle school high school principal. >> Um, all right. Um, Annie did a great job. Kind of my first bullet point was the middle school student council and the week that they put on. Um, we had honor band auditions here in Joliet on November 3rd. Um, so we had all the other schools in auditioning for that. We had 10 Jolliott students make it out of 38 kids total on that honor band. So they did really well. um John Deere egg days. Mrs. Melton and Miss Rel took um 33 8 through 12th graders up to Boseman for egg days the 13th through the 15th. I left my sheet on my desk of how they did, but I think we had um Katie Harris, Chloe Evers both placed first in

I can't remember what competition, but we had a lot of places and the kids did really well um and behaved really well. Um Mr. Arana took five um students to a women's band day at the Lincoln Center. So he took them in in the morning and they spent the day doing just different um kind of workshops like yoga anxiety around performing. It was just kind of a really neat day. Um the kids had good good feedback on it. Uh Mr. Ra also took a group of kids interested to a free jazz concert at MSU Billings. Um, on the 6th of November, Mrs. Spokoma and Miss Sharp volunteered to jump on the bus and and chaperon and so they went and had a night at the concert. Um, a thanks to FFA for getting the the

dog pigs and crosses set up along the highway and I I believe already taken down. Um, quarter 2 midterm is this Friday, the 21st. We also had um middle and high school IATS on the 7th during our PLC's. Um hosted the speech and drama meet here in Joliet this past Saturday. I think it like over we overflowed into other places in town. I think the church >> they were down at the Baptist church. >> Yeah. Yeah. So it was a packed house. Um Mrs. Cook has been meeting with extending invitations to seniors and their parents to come in and meet one-on-one and kind of map out um their plans after graduation, whether it's college geared or trade school or the workforce. Um, so I think really beneficial and and helpful to those kids and parents

to have that opportunity to be getting prepared and and hopefully ahead of the game there. Um, along with that, her and I have also set up a couple of meetings regarding some credit audits and preparing for one or two concerns around graduation um, this spring. We had our first scheduling meeting for next year on November 13. Um, and Mrs. Richard is preparing to do regional BPA testing here on December 1st and then she will be going to Livingston on December 10th with BPA Kids for um their competitions up there. And then yeah, music concert on the 18th for Middle and High. of December. >> All right. Any questions? >> All right. Thank you. Moving on. Activities director. >> Hello everyone. My name is John Counter. I'm activities director here at Jolliat Schools. And I'm going

to have a lot to cover because we're transitioning from fall sports into winter sports. So, I want to make sure to give recognition of the fall sports and then kind of preview what's going on when it comes to the winter sports scene. So, I got a list here. It might take me a little bit reading sometimes in my strong suit. So, here we go. Middle school cross country. They had their last meet at Jollyat with lots of PRs and kids just wanting to stay in the sport. It seems like every year that program just grows and grows and grows and get more kids in it. Uh kudos to Mr. Price and his staff for continuing to build that program. Middle school volleyball talking with the coaches. Just lots of improvement and girls just excited for

the game. already talking about club volleyball already talking about next year and all the opportunities they get there. Middle school football had a great season with great improvement throughout the whole season. Coach Richard and his staff did a phenomenal job with those boys and so kudos to him on that. High school cheer uh when I talked to coach Ward tripled their numbers from last year which is awesome. More participation the better. They went to both postseason events. They went to Manhattan for the football game. They went to district tournament for the day that we were there for that. And so them representing us in that way I thought was awesome on that front. High school cross country they finished their season at state in Missoula with Austin Shell getting fourth place which means he is

an all-state runner I believe for the fourth time. So congratulations and congratulations to the team as they have a really young team and have a really bright future when it comes to it uh for the next few years here for sure. High school volleyball ended their season in big timber districts. Um, just me being at every game, seeing the improvement throughout the whole year and how hard they played. I think we have a bright future when it comes to the volleyball scene as well coming up here in the next few years. High school football went six and two. Unfortunately, some tiebreers didn't go our way. We wound up getting the four seed and went to Manhattan and played a team that's playing this weekend for the state championship. So, played a really tough team. Uh,

Coach Warbertton wanted me to just read off all the allconerences. So, here we go. Jake Cook got first team quarterback. Ty Roth, first team lineman. Porter, he got first team receiver. Gavin Thompson with second team running back. Candon McQuillin, second team tight end. Canyon Crook, second team lineman. On defense, Jake got first team linebacker. Ty first team defensive line. Tristan first team linebacker. Gavin second team defensive back. Kase second team defense back defensive back, excuse me. Canyon got second team defensive lineman. Camden second team linebacker. Grady got second team kicker. And with all that, Jake got All State, uh, the only Jolly kid to get it. There were six All State nominations out of our division and, uh, only three teams got players nominated on it. And so, the fact that we were one of

them was was pretty cool on our end, I think. Uh, middle school girls basketball now transitioning to the sports that are currently going on and upcoming. middle school girls basketball. They wrap up this weekend at home 8 am again seeing them their first couple games. Just the constant improvement going on in our programs right now is great. It leads me to my high school girls basketball front. We had 17 girls sign up which remembering the number from last year was eight or nine. So we've at least doubled that to the point where we will have a JV team this year and a varsity team. So that's shout out to uh Mrs. good rich and building those numbers up and getting more players involved. High school boys, we do not have that same issue. We have

about 30 signed up. So, we will have varsity, JB, and C squad. Also, starting this week, high school wrestling, we have two boys that have signed up and we have three girls that are interested pending on MHSA approval with the co-op between us and Billing Central. So, a lot of stuff going on, a lot of stuff that has happened and I'm just excited to be a Jay-Hawk and I'm excited to see where we're going with it. So, any kind of questions for me or anything like that? >> Sweet. Thanks. >> Thank you for all that you do. Thank you for going to all the games and getting everything set up and >> trying to really appreciate everything you're doing. >> Appreciate it. Thanks, guys. >> All right. Uh, JTA. >> All right. Tammy Gruell, uh,

vice president of the Juliet Teachers Association. Um, just three issues that we're talking about since the last time we reported, we met uh, a committee met for the extracurricular stipens. A need came up that we just needed to kind of go through that list. It had been a while u making sure things are all equal and cleaned up uh, in that front. So, that was very successful and will go in effect next year. um negotiation committee is meeting um and hopefully coming to a close getting closer and closer every every day there. So we're going to talk to the JTA tomorrow. >> Yep. So then we'll bring that back. Um, one issue that we did want to bring to the board, um, attention is, and definitely I saw this from where I came from before,

um, the lack of substitutes, um, in our building. So, it's kind of like hitting hit the big schools and we all heard about it and then now it's trickling into Joliet. Um so quite a few days and I know you guys get the reports as well where classes had to be cancelled and um teachers had to take the classes. So we're kind of trying to figure out from the union standpoint um different ways to deal with that. So just making sure that it's uh following contracts and um making sure that compensation is being done if a teacher has to take that response. It's kind of like they're subbing uh really. So, um, it's an extra duty. And then just kind of bringing some ideas at this point, like how can we deal with this? But

also not really wanting to, you know, make it officially written down somewhere. Hoping that we can just be like respectful and with the people involved. Um, making sure that they're being asked instead of told, those types of things. So that is definitely one issue um we're we're really concerned about as a union um is the upcoming shortages that we have in subs. So it's already trickling down this year. You have one teacher that's was counted as seven times having to do this and um so just making sure that we're doing it right. So to be continued on that one. So any questions? You know, if you guys quit taking time off, we wouldn't have a sub problem. >> Well, it's better. That's not the case. >> It's better to take time off because you get

your whole paycheck >> instead of partial. >> Any other questions? >> Thank you. >> Financial report. Um, the regular financial reports are in the packet. Are there any questions that >> All right, going on to the consent agenda. We'll make a motion to accept the consent agenda. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Kelly to approve the consent agenda. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All oppose. Same sign. Motion passed 8 to zero. All right. Uh, action items. >> Trustees need to take action to call for elections. Uh, trustee positions currently held by trustees Williams and Blaine will be up for election in May of 2026. Recommendation trustees pass a resolution calling for an elementary trustee election. So move. Second. >> It's

been moved by Ken and seconded by Craig to uh move for a trustee election. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those in favor say I. I. >> All oppose. Same sign. Motion pass 8 to zero. Oh, 70 since it's not a >> Okay. >> All right. Bus route and road crossings. >> There's a request for a student crossing and of the road at five Bridal Trail. Transportation director has reviewed the request and deemed the crossing to be safe. Recommendation is to approve a student crossing at five bridal trail. Make a motion to accept. >> I'll second that. >> It's been moved by Kelly and seconded by Dawn to approve the student crossing at Five Bridal Trail. Any public comment or discussion? So, is that just in within that subdivision? >> Yeah. So that's going obviously

um I think this is on Sam's route going out um and they typically drop run the whole route and then typically drop off people at the last. It does extend it by quite a little um but this way the student who you know parent parents are wishing this put the request in can on the way out get off and go into the subdivision. >> Oh so they're crossing the highway. >> They're crossing the highway crossing in front of the bus in front of the highway. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And typically these are handled we have a number of student crossings. Uh typically those are handled um in September at the beginning of the year. You'll see we have the list of all of these crossings. This is just a single one because it was not

included at the time and then the request came to us after. So that's why it's kind of like a standalone item. >> So I heard somewhere it was my understanding that the parents sign a waiver >> so that if a child should get hit >> we're not responsible. >> Yep. We have that documentation on file. >> Yeah. Because that's a boy when you're I mean at four o'clock in the afternoon that sun when you're coming towards Jolly that sun is blinding. >> Yeah. Right now. >> Yeah. >> I think our bus drivers are very good. And I know when I did you just bus drivers have a lot of responsibility and they need to watch and if you see a car coming, you just tell the kid wait. >> Yeah. >> Until you're dang sure

they stop. And I think our bus drivers are very good at that. Do our bus drivers take in account the age of those students that are crossing the highway like that? >> I think they're older kids, right? >> Yeah, this is an older kid. >> I'd hate to see a a little one, a kindergartener train. >> Is it just one just one student or several? >> This is just one student. >> Just one. Yeah. >> But I think there's another >> instant like just further down the road to where that happens. So, okay. Okay. Any further board discussion, questions? All right. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. >> All right. Motion passed 8 to zero. >> Next item is to open the checking account for AC payments at the

Bank of Joliet. Um, District Clerk Smith has put in a quick summary abstract while under update. >> Um, so the county notified um all of the entities that it serves in August that they would no longer be allowing ACH transactions to come out of their checking account. >> Can you tell me what that is? HC, >> it's a it's it's just a a debit. >> So when you pay the credit card, it's an automatic they call it a an automatic check. Oh. >> Um, so the much in the same way that you maybe pay your power bill through an online process um because they were getting um a lot of unknown things that were coming through and then they would have to send an email out to all the entities because they cover they do

the banking for so many um and they were just having way too many of those incidents happen. So they cut off all AC transactions. Most of the bills that we pay are with a check. However, we do have some that need to be done through AC. Um, so I did check with our auditors and they didn't see a problem. Um, we currently, this will be the same process that we utilize with our payroll system. Um, we cut a check say for um, fed taxes, state taxes, teachers, retirement. Those checks are deposited into the Bank of Jalette. So, they clear the county's checking account, but then we have the ability to utilize well with federal and state taxes, you have to pay them with an AC. You cannot do it any other way. Um, so we're

just going to set up a separate account just for a transactions that have nothing to do with payroll, nothing to do with the activity account. It has its own. Um mostly the the bill that gets paid with the Mac is a credit card and we need way more flexibility than mailing a payment which some it's Illinois so it can take up to 10 days to get there. Um sometimes we need more flexibility if we have teams traveling um big expenditures things like that. >> Great recommendation is to approve opening an additional checking account at the Bank of Jalia for AC transfers. I so move. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Kathy and may seconded by Craig to approve the opening of an additional checking account at Bank of Joliet for a transactions. Uh for

that it's for the credit card, right? >> Mostly there are a couple that we do but for a transactions. Uh any public comment? Uh board discussion. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. >> Motion passed 8 to zero. Personnel >> personnel action report for 11825 is included. recommendation is to approve the November 18th personnel action report. In there you will see um uh the coaching staff for assistant high school boys basketball. Uh Hillary Olsson and Zach Wagaman um are going to split the stipen uh for the JV uh coaching assignment. Coach Rollson wanted them in that role. However, I think between the two of them in work schedules, um there was a couple of conflicts where they may not be able to be there for 100% of the time. Um so

that's um a $2,800 stipen meeting between those two. Then the recommendation is for George Warbertton to round up to staff C squad um with that statement. >> I move to approve the personnel action report. >> Second. It's been moved by Ken, seconded by Jenny to approve the personnel action report. Any public comment for discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. Policy. We have a couple of first readings um continuing to look at uh legislative updates um that were um a result of the last session. Um we've got two policies. 1401 is records available to the public. Committee met on November 18th to review and look at some updates. U policy chair Dinsdale can update the board and answer any questions and I can as

well. Um so in in your assembly platform you'll see for each one of those there's um a model policy and draft. So the one listed as draft is the one that we're proposing. Correct. >> Y and it'll have a it'll have a yellow >> header >> on the top that kind of signifies that. You'll see status draft. >> So I think at both of these Okay, great. >> Yeah, both of these policies had not been reviewed since 2013. Um, so just really not any big changes. Um, updating some of the legal references and just cleaning up language. >> I move to approve the first reading of 1401. >> I'll second that. It's been moved by Ken and seconded by Kelly to approve the first reading of policy 1401. Any public comment? Board discussion. All those

in favor say I. >> I. >> All opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. So, on to policy 4340. >> 4340. Um, same situation, >> public access to district records. >> Make a motion. >> Second. >> It's been moved by Don and seconded by Ken to approve pol the first reading of policy 4340. Any public comment? for discussion. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All oppose, same sign. Motion passed 8 to zero. >> Girls wrestling. So, we need to consider action on girls wrestling. We have three high school girls interested in wrestling. Uh conversation came up last month uh when we added this fall. um if we were now equal on the offerings. Um I was under the assumption that the wrestling co-op um already included the boys and girls on that. We

actually had some girls that were interested in wrestling last year. Um so that was a mistake on my part. Um asked Mr. County to review and Mr. Nice to review that co-op and it was in fact determined that it was just a boys uh co-op. So we do need to my recommendation um is to add girls wrestling into that co-op. Um, and that takes the number of offerings. Now that we have approved baseball for this year, that would bring the number of offerings uh for boys and girls equal at seven is where we're at. So recommendation is to approve adding girls wrestling to the existing wrestling cooperative agreement with building central. >> I'll make a motion for the girls wrestling co. >> I'll second that. It's been moved by Kelly and seconded by Dawn to

approve adding girls wrestling to the existing wrestling co-op with Billing Central. Any public comment >> for discussion? >> Central good with it. They're okay with it. Everything's fine, right? Conversation would be in >> the same agreement as the boys. Yep. I think we just kind of assumed it was part of the boys. Like >> I Yeah, I I made that assumption. So, um because we had that conversation last year with a couple girls that were maybe going to wrestle, I think they ended up managing. >> Yes. >> You know, so >> when they initially approved the wrestling with Central, it was boys wrestling, girls softball. >> So that's what offset, however many years ago that was. >> Do they still transport themselves? At one time they were using one of our vehicles. Is that they're

not doing that now? >> If the vehicle is available, we would allow them to use it. Um for last year, >> staff, >> you know, if we have if we have that staff, um we've had situations where, you know, substitute teacher um you know, they sign up to sub and then then they're on the staff. Um we this what we're running into now and maybe the problem will be alleviated is we just haven't had the vehicle. Um but yeah, we would allow that >> because it's the Expedition is the only one that's acceptable. >> Well, the Yukon the Yukon could be driven as well. >> Um we've just they've been used, you know, student trip, you know, we got kids going out of town or something like that. We we'll prioritize those over, you know,

transporting the kids for wrestling. >> Any other questions, comments? All right. All those in favor of the adding girls on to the existing wrestling co-op, uh, say I. >> I. >> All those opposed? Motion passed 8 to zero. >> Any business? >> Second reading of policy 1400. Recommendation is to approve. >> We'll make that motion. Second. It's been moved by Don and seconded by Karen to approve the second reading of policy 1400. Any public comment or discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Motion passed 8 to zero. Moving right along. Monthly enrollment numbers are included. Uh looks like we're down one student uh from uh last month. So numbers coming in at 389, up one in the high school, flat uh in our our middle school, and then down

two students in the elementary kind of hovering right at that 390 level. employment opportunities are included. Um so instead of printing that off now um in the new platform um I'll just include the link so everybody can kind of like um include or just kind of click into the link um if you take a look there you'll see our most recent uh opportunities volunteer opportunities speech and debate judges. Did anybody have a chance uh to to judge speech and debate? So, thank you guys uh for for that experience. Um we can go and pull that off uh of the website. Um any comments, Ken, on your judging experiences. >> I really enjoyed it. It's not easy when you get down to the finals and you have eight groups and they're all pretty darn good. So,

that was hard. Um, you know, when Kathy and I were talking about it, she was there also. There was no issues with kids. There was no behavior issues. They all kept they got done after every competition. Every one of them came up and thanked the judges and shook their hand. So, it it's really pretty cool to see. And if you look at the kids and you look up and down the hall, it's like, oh my gosh, there's a wide range of kids. But schools are offering that activity for the kids that need something like that and it's wonderful for them. So I I very much support the program. It was really nice to have it here. Um Bob Reed, Michelle Reed, uh I know Danielle Sullivan was here and and your mom was here and

they were setting up food and running all over the place. It started out in the morning that the judge that was running for Park City forgot all the packets in Park City. and they said, "We'll be a little late." And she boogie and went back to Park City. Other than that, I mean, we were pretty much on schedule and it worked. It worked very well. A lot of good kids. The kids were all very respectful and good. So, first thing we had a toilet plug up right off the bat. I went in and looked and went, "Uhoh." So, we called Steve. Steve came down. Came down a little later when he was pulling off the mat. So, I mean, we have a lot of good staff that are willing to do stuff extra like that.

So I just, you know, compliment Steve and and Bob and everybody else that had anything to do with that. >> So booster club helped support the >> Okay. >> I think they provided the the hospitality room for the judge. >> Okay. >> Where was that? >> Were you a judge? Did you judge? >> It was in the >> If he knows about it, then there were >> it was in the cafeteria. >> Yeah, I know there wasund people involved in that. But yeah, my my hat is off especially to coach Reed, coach Harford who, you know, bit that thing off and it's something that they don't have to do, >> right? We can go somewhere else and do all that stuff, but and thanks to you guys for judging Kathy. >> How many schools were

here? I should have asked that earlier. >> I didn't hear a number. I know there were >> but they came from Manhattan and Gardener and they were coming from a long ways. I can't even think of some of the other schools were here, but they were from quite a distance and they had to be here by like 7:30. So, some of they were leaving pretty early. A lot of those distant schools. >> Yeah, I was amazed at how many come from so far. I drove around and looked at all the buses when they left to see where they were all coming from and it was and they were the kids were they were so polite and so respectful. It's just a good program. Miss Harford would come up and ask about is somebody going to

come up and check the garbages? So, so I checked with Steve, you know, got to one of the rooms, the door was locked, nobody had a key, you know, and there's little things that happened, but, you know, the coaches and everybody took took care of it, didn't get flustered. It's like, we'll handle it. And the other coaches that were there were awesome. So, it worked very well. >> Okay. Uh, a couple other employment opportunities. Um you'll see bus monitors is up there. Um so I went down to this would be a new position. We've had um bus monitors before. It's been quite some time. But when I went down to pick up the um the little loco uh from Laurel, which was their like 12 passenger van um that the crew took to Environ. Um

I had a chance to talk with um Zeta down in Laurel, kind of tour around the bus barn a little bit. Um and we were we were just visiting and Laurel is um now employing bus aids and bus monitors on every single one of their routes. Um so I thought it might just be an interesting conversation to have and just put a couple of feelers out there um to the community. It's it is a pretty unique uh position. It's kind of like a crossing guard uh position that it almost like sucks up your entire day because if it's like this split thing same thing same with our bus drivers. Um, so I don't know what kind of interest we'll we'll get on this. Um, but what Zeta was saying is that it really is helping

with bus behaviors. Uh, obviously I think if you park an adult in the middle or the rear of a of a bus, you know, kids are going to rise to the occasion and you'll be able to mitigate some of those um, you know, day-to-day issues that you have. Um, second of all, she said that uh driver um morale, driver retention uh is is greatly improved as a result of that because the bus driver can drive the bus. Um it's proving to be much safer obviously if you're just managing those things. Um this is a I think it'd be an interesting um uh position to to look at. Uh so we did post that up there to see kind of what interest we we could get. These would be funds from the transportation fund because it's

directly involved with transport transporting students to and from school. Um we would also be interested in just employing people on the afternoon route. Um which is typically I think where we get most of our you know um behaviors on the bus. It's just more ramped up um at the end of the day. Um kids are kids are pretty calm in the morning um and getting there. But if you know of anybody that might be interested in in doing that, we would you know be happy to have that that conversation. Um, still have our bus route and you know, bus route subd drivers on there, pair professional. Um, substitute teachers always looking. Um, I know that I know that that question came up. Um, I think I we did have a couple of applications come in

on substitute teachers. Um, you know, we're continuing to look at that. Um, I my hat is off and I hear um the um the concerns coming from the union. Um, we have so many of our teachers that not only do our teachers get ill, not only do our teachers have lives and are they able to take personal leave, a lot of our teachers also are doing sports, they're doing activities and we're being pulled in, you know, a million different directions. My my hat is off to all those teachers who wear all of those hats. Um, and unfortunately it does pull them out of the building. And there are days that we're running a, you know, a pretty skeleton staff. Um, as long as I've been here though, I know that we have never denied one

personal leave. We've never denied one sick leave uh for any any of those teachers. It's like, no, you we require you, we mandate you to be in the building. That has not happened here. Uh, and I think that I'm pretty proud of that. Uh, I think that our administrators try to do a good job with that too, that we get it, that we do have lives. Does that unfortunately, I think, put people into positions where we we do call on you and ask you to step up. Um, and I think we need to obviously have this conversation, it sounds like, but a lot of our teachers do step up and volunteer uh to to have those opportunities. Um, we're trying to I know Mr. Hernandez and I know uh Mr. Richard and I know Miss

Meyers are who is our subcoordinator really trying the best that they can to allow this balance between you know taking the time and making sure that we can still run it here um in that. So we do have like I said we got some new subs uh that are out there but we may need to look at some of our systems uh that if that's kind of what we've got going on. We do have a an allowance um and kind of a a general expectation that if teachers can arrange their own coverage we'll give you an hour and a half for free. uh we don't make you take any leave um on on those situations and that happens a lot where a teacher can find their own coverage and um you know for an hour

and they can just peel out and they can go to an appointment or they can take a kid to an appointment in that situation. So um again I think we need to have the conversation and if we can get more subs uh that that would always be great but I can do better. I can step into the classrooms and I think we all, you know, kind of hear that call um that we're doing. But also my hat is off to all of our great subs that we have in this community. It's, you know, for about a hundred bucks a day, um they're they're doing a really really good job. I think we got the best around. I really do. Well, I was just curious because I I was looking at the sublist because I you

know, we get those reports on teachers that are absent and stuff >> and I looked at the sublist that was in the packet and there's a lot of people on that sub list. So, >> yeah, a ton of people. >> Yeah. >> And we don't take people off the sub list, >> so are are they all still around? >> You know, and occasionally some of them will come in, you know, we've got a we've got a handful of regulars, right? a handful of the regulars um that that Marina go to. But you know, and we've talked about this before um up here that it it starts it starts before 5:00 am for for Marina um if a teacher gets sick overnight and it's too late in the frontline system, you know, if she's texting people

and and teachers are texting her at 5:00 am or even later, you know, if they get sick overnight. Um, but no, not everybody on the list is actually, you know, kind of one of our our go-to. And so much of it seasonal, you know, um, like, uh, Mr. Blandettto, he's a great sub. It's hunting season right now, and he's super busy in his real job. Um, but, you know, when that passes, he'll be here. Um, he'll be here a lot. Um, you know, >> how does our sub pay compare with other schools? >> I think we're really competitive. um when you when you talk to other schools and maybe there's, you know, some some discussions to be had there. Um so we're $14 an hour for non-certified. Um uh we do have some certified teachers

that um do uh um hold their teaching license that recently retired. Um I'm just thinking of Miss Torbert, for example. Um they have a increased rate of $17 an hour. Um if you're long-term, we'll increase it to 18. um all the way up to if you're a long-term certified sub um that's at at $24 an hour. But um you know, maybe there's maybe there's conversation to be had there. Um I don't know if she has it off the top of her head, she if I would have prepped her um or if we knew we were having this conversation, we could have um but we know the amount of money that goes out the door in subs. Um yeah, so um police will find that it's it it's quite substantial, but again, we don't deny teachers,

you know, um ever for for being gone. >> Um but there there's probably room to, you know, increase it. Another thing that's kind of happened, I think, recently is um we're actually full-time, if not part-time, employing a lot of of our formerly like kind of go-to subs, right? that they're now working in par roles and they're just like on the staff and they're great people, right? Um so that's kind of what we got there. But yet that hurts Marina. >> Why don't hire them, >> you know, on that front? >> Other employment opportunities, um coaching positions for for the most part now will take off. um our assistant boys uh basketball position. We kind of just have this standing middle school, high school math teacher uh position that >> it just stays there. >> It

is >> um and also kind of as the union mentioned, negotiations committee um has met a couple of times and I think we're close um on something like that. So, thanks to Kathy, thanks to Ken, thanks to Amanzif for for your guys' work. um on the negotiations committee to see where it goes. >> $52,000 in subs. >> I included um as kind of some pre- uh evaluation information the superintendent evaluation process. Um so you'll see the district's process that we've ran over the last couple of years. There's some pre-evaluation considerations. The contract should be reviewed ahead of time. So, I included my contracts um into the packet um at the December regular board meeting. Um we will distribute the superintendent evaluation and then um typically what we've done in January after the regular meeting in

January is do an evaluation um of the superintendent That's all I got. So, it looks like there is no correspondence. Um, so next meeting would be December 16th. Um, as Mr. Bagger said, we'll distribute those superintendent evaluations. We'll put a due date on those. you all turn those in to me. um or then uh review at the well then they go to you right >> the board chair and the vice chair compile them and then we distribute >> I don't think >> during the executive >> I don't see >> so anything else for our next uh regular meeting uh some of you will recall call. We usually do like more training right about now and we've talked about pushing that back until like the summer when our agendas even though today's agenda is pretty late

but into the summer when there's not as much going on but we have possibly new members coming on doing board training in the summer months. So uh we will not be doing board training now we'll do it in the summer. So, unless there's something that comes up that we need specific training on, uh, but we'll we'll address that as it comes up, but otherwise, we'll have kind of that board training that we've had in the past, um, over the summer. >> Fairmont, >> probably. Yeah. Can we have a real >> fine red was very disappointed when she came on the board and the board retreat was >> in the cafeteria with no >> Is there anything else that we usually do in December? >> December's pretty light, too. >> Yeah. I'm looking forward to all

of the Christmas decorations and and the different wings. It's my favorite time of year. I love the lights across the the hallway. >> Fire. >> We don't put them across the hallway. Oh, no. We don't. >> That's a fire. >> Well, however they're arranged, they're very pretty. >> Whatever way they're >> Yeah. Whatever legal to code way they are done, they are very nice. >> Mandy knows the code and she goes, "Yep, that's okay." >> All right. Well, if there's nothing else, we can adjourn. Thank you, everyone. Today.
